Version 0.02b - This is the first update and I am so mad. I failed a
job and my game didn't load but rather saved. It seems my
game has a glitch so I had to restart. That's why the up-
date has taken so long. Thanks for the patience as there
are more jobs and character information up. Hope you like
it! \\UPDATE// lol this is a beta update as I haven't had
a lot of time to work on this. I'll fix problems in the
alpha edition.

Version 0.03 - This is the second update but I went further than I
originally intended to go so I decided to skip the alpha
product of Version 0.02 and just go to the next update.
I've been distracted though with evil games such as FFTA
and Disgaea which are so fun you have to love them. FFTA
(Final Fantasy Tactics Advance) is very similar to Arc 3
and I highly suggest checking it out. Well I ought to
start work on the next update - don't be impatient with
me lol!!!

1.0 Introduction

Hello! I’m Bootsams of GameFaqs and I decided to write the best Arc The
Lad III Guide on the website which isn’t hard because there isn’t a
complete one! Go me! LOL! Um so yeah, this is it. My first attempt at
a FAQ was for Tales of Eternia / Tales of Destiny 2 English which was
horribly destroyed when our computer got a virus so now I’m trying this
one and making back up copies! Wish me luck and if you have any comments,
questions, or stuff like that feel free to e-mail me at

If you do that however I must tell you that I probably wont’ be much
farther into the game than my FAQ covers so don’t be asking me about
Mission 79 when my guide stops at Mission 13. I’m only telling you this
because I don’t want to disappoint you!

2.0 Characters

An RPG wouldn’t be an RPG without good characters and Arc The Lad III
has some pretty cool ones. This section will introduce you to them and
tell you about all their really nifty skills, sure to come in handy
during the heat of gigantic battles!
2.1 === ALEC ===
Alec’s entire family was wiped out in the Great Disaster and had it not
been for the kind hand of a Hunter he would have died also. He was
pulled away from the fire and transported to the Isle of Eteru where
he now lives in Sasha Village with other refugees from The Great
Disaster. He befriend Lutz, one of the other children of the village
and they have become nearly inseparable. Alec dreams of being a Hunter
and maybe his dream will come true..

He tries to be a ladies man but his ignorance and hyperactivity tends
to drive them off rather than attract them. He has a strong relationship
with his sister Kuretta, as she is the only person who survived the
Great Disaster with him.

3.0 The Guide

This is a walkthrough of the game divided into self made chapters to
keep it more organized! Enjoy!
3.1 - Introduction -
=========CINEMA=THERAPY=================================================
A black thing with red writing falls from the sky and causes a town to
explode, the hero is nearly killed but a man saves him and hands him a
sword setting him on a caravan cart. He drives away in the cart looking
back and as he does the boys childlike face turns into the adult face
of Alec!
============================================CINEMA=THERAPY==============
&&&&& SASHA VILLAGE &&&&&
Alec is standing on a cliff overlooking a scenic view of the mountains
and trees and recalls being saved by the Hunter during the Great
Disaster that killed his family. The hunter saving him allowed him
to have a life in the place which he now loves. The town is filled
with people who ran from the Disaster, survived, or were saved from
it - but the thought of it sometimes drives Alec to leave the village
and enjoy the forest, today is one of those times.
Suddenly a boy falls out of a nearby tree, laughing at Alec’s speech.
Alec walks over as the boy fantasizes about the maidens pulling at him
to get his apple, but says because of the cheesy speech all he got was
a sore butt.
The boy and Alec discuss Alec’s past, Lutz does so with a bit of
sarcasm. Alec talks about how that’s the only childhood he can remember.
Lutz’s sarcasm is cut short when gunshots and a cry are heard - coming
from the village!
The boys rush over to find Bandits attacking the villagers. One of the
bandits attacks them and drags them to where the rest of the villagers
are huddled. The bandits want the town’s valuables but the disaster
robbed them of everything and what little they have is necessary.
The villagers are hurried by the bandits to the back house while Lutz,
Alec, and Lutz’s sister are left.
The bandits begin to raid Lutz’s house, and as Lutz tries to stop them
he is held back by his sister and a LOT more so by the shotgun wielding
bandit (how soon we forget they’re armed).
In the house the boys are told by an old man and Lutz’s sister that a
hunter could save them - but the only guild is in Itio and across a
bridge infested with monsters. Alec and Lutz are determined however
so the old man lets them go (only as a last resort though) and gives
them some money for a bounty on the hunters.
He almost forgets (bah, alzheimers) the battle manual that he’s had
since he was a child and Lutz’s sister (Kuretta) gives them some herbs
in case they are attacked. Kuretta distracts the bandit in the house
(quite humorously actually) and they leave together.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SAVE BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE!!!! As I can not be sure of your
battle experience I would recommend you to save as often as possible
and since this is the beginning it would be for the best.

The boys leave and you enter the world map. You can only go to the
bridge now but there is Mormo Plain nearby - so head to Tohde Bridge.

Recommended Level : Level 1 (it’s the first battle and they start at
that level)
Story : Lutz and Alec attempt to cross the bridge but are stopped by
monsters. They must cross to give message to a hunter (haven’t you been
paying attention!?!?)
NOTE
Battling is just like in the past Arc games but is actually simplified
for this game. If you have played past games then you should be set for
this battle, if you haven’t then check your instructions and finally if
you don’t have those read the battle book in the beginning of battle!

STRATEGY
Okay these enemies can deal out some pretty good damage, if they all
teamed up on one character then that character would be dead. That
being said have Lutz and Alec team up on the first Opossum which will
allow Lutz to get to level 2 and Alec to level 3. After that have them
attack whichever ones they want and heal when HP drops below 15. If you
do that you should be find, no major strategies here.

Continue along the world map to Itio City (you can’t go anywhere else!)
&&&&& ITIO CITY &&&&&
The boys enter the city and are shocked at the size of the city and the
amount of people there are and places to go. Lutz falls in love with it
but they do have a job to do.
Talk to the people in town or if you’d rather progress with the story
head up the street and talk to a man in red next to a pine tree and in
front of a brick building with blue shutters. The guild is the building
to his left with a sign above the door.
Inside the boys tell the man at the counter (familiar lay out of a
guild for those who played Arc 2) about their village being attacked.
The man at the counter makes it urgent and alerts all the hunters
inside about the dire circumstances. A hunter named Leegle takes the
job and the boys show him to the village.
&&&&& SASHA VILLAGE &&&&&
Once inside Kuretta is being interrogated by the bandits who are
threatening her with her life to find treasure. Leegle intervenes
just as they’re about to kill her and with one amazing attack sends
three of the bandits to their knees. The bandits give up after that
and the village is saved. HURRAY! CONGRATULATIONS! Oh wait, you really
didn’t do much. Hmph. Lazy good for nothing sack of ox feed.
Anyway, the bandits ask for forgiveness and Kuretta thanks the hunter
in her own special way (off screen you perv). Lutz and Alec tell the
elder about their battles on the way to town and about their feelings
of great power (which I didn’t witness - they nearly died!). The elder
says that he thought such stories were old wives tales but that is the
tale of those who channeled the power of the guardians! WOW! Return to
Alec’s house with Lutz to crash for the night (Kuretta is very thankful).
After spending a while in Alec’s house the two decide that they must
ask Leegle for hunter stories. Inside Kuretta shows off a necklace that
Leegle gave to her and that Lutz will never be able to touch. A
humorous scene unfolds and Alec goes looking for Leegle who went out on
a walk earlier.
Go to the north east corner of the town and talk to Leegle. Leegle
tells him about the outside world and warns him of the dangers but
Alec is set in his ways and wants to go out and journey.
Leegle tells him that in Itio there is a Hunter Test and that if Alec
is really serious he should take it. Leegle then leaves and gives Alec
the magic apple Lutz was yearning for previously.
Afterwards head north to the fields behind the elder’s house to help
harvest berries, which is cut short when Lutz and Alec decide that
together they’re going to the city to fight for a better life for them
and for all those around them. Go talk to the elder and then head out
the gate (rest first at Alec’s house) and talk to the elder once more
before finally leaving.

Strategy
Okay this battle really isn’t tough. These guys
can damage you and put you to sleep but you have two people on your
team. You can probably take one guy out by teaming Lutz and Alec up
and just attacking - three attacks should do it. When the character
is asleep just use a mint to revive him or have the other attack the
slumber flower as an attack from an enemy will wake your ally up.

3.2 - Chapter 1 -
A Hunter Is Born...
Enter Itio city whenever you’re done training.

The boys are happy to be back in Itio city. A man walks down the
street ahead of Alec and Lutz and catches their attention. Lutz notices
the different clothing styles that the people wear. You can wander the
city and talk to people - if you’ve been training I recommend saving
and staying at the inn as well as buying some herbs which you probably
used. You may also want to upgrade their equipment to the iron sword
for Alec and the iron knife for Lutz. When you’re ready go to the guild.

Did you notice Shante’s pub? A reference to Arc The Lad 2 and inside is
Poco from Arc 1 and 2!

Inside the guild you are announced as new customers and the man
remembers you as those who asked for help and were helped by Leegle.
He asks what your business is and then laughs when he hears you want
to be hunters. The man warns you about joining but your determination
makes him cave in. He gives you a "simple" "baby stuff" job - The
Hunter Registration Test!

Description : This is technically a test and not a job. The
Hunter Registration Test requires prospective Hunters to retrieve a
fragment of the Ghost Dream Crystal from The Trial Cave.
Recommended Level : 4 - 5

Strategy : this is a storyline job so it will all be included in
story segments with the rest of the walkthrough. Optional jobs will
have strategies posted in here or in battle sections.

After accepting the job a man in a cowboy outfit mocks you but tells
you where the trial cave is - northeast towards Tohde Bridge and by
the lake. You better hurry, but something fishy may be going on.
On the world map head north on the path and take a right at the fork
leading to the bridge and instead head up to the waterfall, the right
side preferably. Then enter The Trial Cave!
TRIAL CAVE
Please take notice that I learned on my second playthrough these are
not defined battles, as there are a combination of enemies you may get
for each room. Consider these as estimates of what enemies you may face
in a designated area.

Strategy
Have Lutz attack the nearby Cave Bat which
should kill him instantly with new weapons and all. Alec’s positioning
isn’t as centered as Lutz’s so without a long range weapon he cannot
attack. After the first round you have two choices. You can go after
the weaker enemies (slimes and cave bats) or you can team up and take
out the sidewinder fast. I recommend the first choice as Lutz and Alec
can take out a cave bat or a slime in one hit which reduces the damage
they can take.

After the first battle head to the left to discover a path leading to
two treasure chests containing an Iron Knife and an Herb. Oh well, the
iron knife should have helped you out that battle. When you return to
the first room you will find more enemies!

Strategy
This one might pose some problems as the Ogre is
the strongest enemy you have yet to face! Take out the slimes until the
ogre is within range then go at him with BOTH Alec and Lutz. He can
deal out some big damage 15-20. Use Alec to cure both Lutz and Alec
if necessary or use herbs.

After that battle take the north path and open the treasure chest
containing a Palo Nut. After following that path to it’s end get ready
for another battle.

Now you should definitely be able to take out a
cave bat with one hit so when they approach do so. This battle poses no
real challenges, just attack and heal if necessary. Two attacks per
sidewinder and one attack a cave bat this battle may only last three or
four rounds. (should only last a maximum of 6 or 7)

The crystals poking out of the ground had best be a good thing because
boy are my hands tired of typing and playing. Take the north exit out
of the room and come to a fork in the road. To the left is a challenging
battle which will be covered as Battle 5, while to the right is a room
with a chasm and a chest containing an iron spear (mentioned after
Battle 5 as well)

Strategy
It’s a somewhat challenging battle had it been
given to you at an earlier time. Double team the sidewinder’s and the
ogres one at a time until they die. If you need to heal use Alec’s cure
as it leave Lutz to attack and can heal both of them as long as you’re
double teaming the enemies. Ogre’s can pack a punch but you can handle
them.

In this room is also a chest which holds a shimmer stone. Take the
north exit which leads to another corridor! This corridor heads north
to a room with a heal and save spot as well as a treasure chest
containing another shimmer stone. To the north are some crystals while
to the east is a corridor which leads to a long corridor with another
fork! The west path of this fork leads to a room with a chasm in it and
a treasure chest containing an Iron Spear. If you came from here and
missed battle 5 then return to the fork room and head left where you
will find a treasure room holding 2 shimmer stones, a palo nut, and a
falcon statue. Equip the statue on Alec preferably due to his healing
spell and return to the save room, heal then save and continue through
the crystal gates.
After pushing on the gates you find the crystal and the sight is short
lived as the gate shuts behind you. You are found by the mysterious
cowboy man who gives his name Tengaron - he is the keeper of the Ghost
Dream Crystal! After a speech you must fight Tengaron!

Strategy
Tengaron is alone but he is also the toughest
enemy you faced. Hopefully you healed and saved so you can take him on.
Double team him and use Alec to heal. His attacks do damage from 15 - 20.
Have Lutz attack or use knife rain as stealing will not work. After
attacking him for a while and healing yourself frequently you should
have him dead.

After beating him you can take a crystal fragment. Go you! After a
brief conversation with Tengaron you are warped out of the Trial cave!
Now you can go to Itio and show them that you are a real hunter! Go to
the guild and - well you’ll see!
3.3 - Chapter 2 -
I’m A Hunter, So What Now?
Well collect your bounty and you are promoted from Hunter Trainee to
Sissy Spacek, er wait Sissy Hunter. Either way it’s humorous. Well take
a look at the jobs they have and glance at the wanted posters and when
you’ve accepted some jobs (I’d accept them all for experience, Goz, and
Merits) then get to finishing them!
When you’re done in the guild sell your weapons and things you don’t
need for armor. Then take care of the jobs.
###########################JOB 2########################################
Protect Medicinal Plants
Guild : Itio
Client : Lendal (an anagram for Leland from Arc 2)
Reward : 80 Goz / 6 Merits (and an Herb)
Description : The town herbologist, Lendal, has requested that his
house be guarded while he’s away on business. See Lendal at his home in
Itio for details.
Recommended Level : 7 (you should be at this level anyway)
Difficulty : It’s actually kind of fun!
Strategy : Alright after accepting this job when you leave the guild it
will show you where Lendal’s house is. If you are still clueless go down
to the block where the woman stands and head right to the first house
with red and white stuff above the door. Enter it and you’ll see a
scene!
Assuming you’ve watched the scene and learned the
directions you just have to catch the mice in the boxes. Go up to the
box where the mouse stopped and press X to capture it. The mice will
appear on box to box for a while and speed up until they finally stop.
Go to the last box they were at and press X.
On my game these were the locations of the mice.
Right Box, Left Box, Top Box.
After you’ve gotten the three mice watch the scene
unfold and return to the guild to collect your bounty!

Description : We have received an emergency request for supplies from
the Wanted Monster Specialist known as Jay. He is at Kiska Marsh or the
Lukae Riverbank.
Recommended Level : 7
Difficulty : .5/*****
Strategy : First you have to buy him the supplies he wants (With money
given to you by the guild fortunately). An Adventure Vest and a Vigor
Seed (Lutz will remind you). Go to the item store and purchase them
along with whatever else you may need (I suggest armor)
Leave Itio and go search Kiska Marsh first then Lukae
Riverbank (the job said it in that order so why not). At Kiska Marsh
you will find he is not there but two level 5 slimes and one level 7
pit scorpion are. You can handle these guys at level 7, but concentrate
your attacks on the pit scorpion as he can put you in the gravity state.
After the battle you learn that Jay isn’t there so head to
the Kiska Marsh to search for him. After a battle it seems he’s not
there either, but wait there he is. He asks for his supplies which you
turn over and then watch the scene unfold. Congratulations!

Nasty Creatures In The House
Guild : Itio
Client : Nate
Reward : 120 Goz / 7 Merits
Description : A client named Nate has requested help in a vacant house
he owns in Itio. He is having trouble with monsters and would like them
removed ASAP. Contact Nate at the house for details.
Recommended Level : 7-8
Difficulty : */*****
Strategy : Go to the vacant house (first house to the right down the
street past the guild in Itio) and enter. Watch the scene unfold and
then you must move the boxes. This is actually kind of challenging but
fortunately you can reset. I don’t remember exactly how to do it so if
anyone could send me a solution that would be good. But it’s not too
hard - took me two tries.
After that watch another scene then go to the guild and collect your
reward.

After accomplishing two of the above jobs you will unlock the next
storyline job which will take you across the ocean. You can choose to do
it now or you can take on Job 5 and do some of the bounties instead.
Whichever your choice below is the solution for Job 5 and Chapter 3
starts with Job 6.

Examiners Assistant
Guild : Itio

Reward : 100 Goz / 8 Merits
Description : Four prospective Hunters have come to take the Hunter
Registration Test. The Guild examiner seeks a hunter to help with the
process. Hunter accepting job must leave at once.
Recommended Level : 9-10
Difficulty : .25/*****
Strategy : After accepting this job you learn that Tengaron is the
examiner you will be working with. You wait for the new recruits in the
Ghost Crystal room and when they come he quizzes them. It turns out
that they are greedy and not deserving of the crystal so you must
defeat them.

You should be able to take out the apprentices in one hit each and
the swordsmen in two hits. The swordsmen may drop a bronze sword a
piece which you can sell for 40G. Afterwards you will watch a scene and
be transported out of the crystal room.

3.4 - Chapter 3 -
Leaving Eteru Isle...
When you enter the guild the man speaks of a job that just came in for
a place over seas. Lutz and Alec are very excited and you can choose to
take it. When you do (it's storyline and required)... well it'll be
covered in the job box.

Chase The Monster Egg Trunk
Guild : Itio
Client : Innskeeper Balpus
Reward : 150 Goz / 8 Merits
Description : The Innkeeper in Itio accidentally mixed up a guest's
trunk with one containing a monster egg. Contact client to correct
dangerous mistake.
Recommended Level : 10
Difficulty : .1/*****
Strategy : After accepting this job (you MUST abort other jobs so if
you have not completed them you may want to do it before you accept this
one - if you don't then continue) you must head to the Inn to talk to
the client. The innkeeper tells you the monster egg was supposed to be
hatched in a lab and that a musician has the trunk instead. He is very
afraid of what may happen but tells you that a ship on the dock is
expecting you and that your passage has been booked. Leave the inn and
go to the southernmost street - head to the left to go to the docks.
Unfortunately another problem arises, the captain is at the bar (instills
a lot of faith in transportation) and you must go get him. Head to
Shante's to see a clip of her singing to the bar folk. Shante has a
reputation as a singer - but you have a job to do. She tells you where
the captain is and you tell him to get over to the ship. As you leave
she remembers her voyage with Elc and Arc.
After that head back to the docks and the man will ask you if you're
ready. Answer "Yes sir" if you are and if you're not answer the other
choice. This will cue up another round of "Cinema Therapy"

The boat rocks gently over the beautiful waves and into the horizon.
Lutz is standing as lookout and watching the horizon line for land while
Alec relaxes in the shade and stares at the bow of the boat and watches
the sun disappear behind it. Lutz's face brightens up as land appears
ahead of them.
============================================CINEMA=THERAPY==============
Ah, refreshing. You arrive in Renn City on the continent of Forestamore.
Lutz's observations point out that this is the half above and half below
water city Leegle told you about eariler. Lutz cherishes the town but
Alec shoots his dreams down and reminds him about work. Together they
start to scour the town for him.
Head up the ramp and to the left until you can head up and onto shore.
You will then enter the town of Renn. After exploring it you learn that
the musician has been sighted at the bar but could also be in the Inn.
With that knowledge in mind check out the bar first as that is the only
definite solution. Inside you learn he left the Pub to go pack at the
Inn. So head to the Inn (you also learn that it's Poco from Arc 1 and 2).
Once in the Inn head up the stairs and look in the second room to find
Poco. A scene will begin. Aw, wasn't that adorable? Now take it to the
monster society and - well leave the Inn and you'll see. Continue to the
Monster Society and watch another scene - it seems Theo is very
determined much like Arc was over his fate. Shortly after you complete
the job but... what about Theo?

After you finish Job 6 go to the guild. A scene will play out involving
Theo leaving to the ruins where his mother got lost. You will now be
expected to take the job to find Theo because you know him so well.
Talk to the woman at the counter about the bounty and then accept the
job.
###########################JOB 7########################################
Fetch The Runaway Boy
Guild : Renn
Client : Renn Monster Society
Reward : 180 Goz / 9 Merits
Description : The Monster Society reports Theo, a young aspiring cardist
left to explore Sealed Ruins near the Great Scar, alone. The Guild re-
quests his safe return.
Recommended Level : 10
Difficulty : */*****
Strategy : Alright, first go to the monster society (after accepting
the job) and talk to the people there. Before you leave you may want
to upgrade your weapons and armor at the store. When you feel that
you're adequately prepared (you may want to stay at the inn and save)
set out to the Sealed Ruins or the Naolis Forest which will be covered
in Chapter 4. Before you can reach the Sealed Ruins you have to fight
your way through Corelia Pass.
Once at Corelia pass Lutz and Alec will encounter some flying enemies
that don't look all too friendly.

Skill : Heavy Eyes causes gravity state
Youch, they have a high defense. I would recommend using bot Alec and
Lutz and having them at Level 10 definitely. With your new equipment
their attacks should be lessended but you may have to worry. Double
team them as usual and use Alec's cure ability to heal them. They will
probably use Heavy Eyes to paralyze you so keep Alec and Lutz close
together for healing purposes. Alec can probably take one out with one
hit while for Lutz it will take two attacks.
After the battle you'll see more of them coming and then get some cinema
therapy.

A blonde woman in a white dress walks between Arc and Alec and opens
up an interesting looking wand before fading to the game screen.
============================================CINEMA=THERAPY==============
The woman, utilizing the wand sends the enemies running in fear and
saves Alec and Lutz. The woman tells them that she was studying them
and with the machine lured them to the area but she didn't know you
were coming. She quickly apologizes and leaves after giving you her
name (Sharon) and telling you about a group of scientists. Interesting,
now let's find Theo!
On the world map go up past Vernica to the last fork in the road. Head
right to The Great Scar.

The camera shows a large gaping cliff in the earth stretching as far as
the eye can see. A piece of earth falls from the edge and shatters
against the cliffsides before plummeting into the darkness.
============================================CINEMA=THERAPY==============
Once inside Lutz and Alec hear voices and find that the Monster Director
has found Theo who fell onto a small piece of earth jutting out from
the side of the cliff. Nearby him are some ruins. The Director says that
he cannot lift him out and neither can you without fear of breaking the
ledge and sending him plummeting.
Lutz being resourceful uses some vines to lure himself down to Theo
while Alec pulls them back up. The three boys once at the large edge
below where Theo stood notice the ruins jutting out from the rocks.
Once down there Theo runs away after Lutz and Alec try to bring him back
to safety - it seems the ruins he wants to visit aren't far from where
they are. Actually, it's a screen away! Theo being stubborn drags Lutz
and Alec into the ancient ruins and so begins your next adventure.
Inside Theo sees a serpent or dragon on a stone in front of them. Theo
says his mother met someone there but they cannot find anyone. He
insists on searching for someone and actually does. The voice requests
that if Theo wishes to become a cardist he must release the dragon/
serpent from it's stone form and into a monster. Cue up a mini game!
????? PUZZLE SOLVER ?????
Alright it's a slider puzzle but easy (thankfully). Press circle to
rotate the squares to the right and square to rotate them to the left.
I recommend pressing R1 to show you the numbers as it makes it easier
to discern which one goes in which place. It can be close to impssible
until you realize if you stand on the edge you can just flip the two
pieces. You shouldn't have trouble with it!
After solving the puzzle watch the scene of Theo getting the Cardish
powers! You can explore the temple but all that's there are some doors
that aren't going to open. Leave the temple and attempt to climb the
rope when you hear him calling for help! He is being attacked by
monsters! Fortunately you have Theo to help you!

Use Alec, Lutz, and Theo as Theo is only level 5. The enemies may put
you to sleep but it shouldn't be too difficult with Alec and Lutz at
levels 10 - 11. Attack and you may want Theo to use his cardish powers.
After the battle simply watch the scenes unfold and Theo will ask to
join you. He should prove valuable with his cardish powers and a little
training - and you can't turn him down so why not.

Go collect your bounty and I recommend training Theo up a few levels so
that he has the power of your characters. However, before you do that you
may want to get Theo some new weapons and armor from the general store.
Below are some optional nearby battlefields that might be worthwhile to </pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
visit. I digress however, you should check wanted posters before so that
in case you encounter one you will be able to reap the rewards.

Strategy
Crimson Roc's have insanely high attack power
and have negative status attacks which makes them a threat if there
ever was one. Take them out first - you may want Theo to use cardish
on one of them because it would make a pretty good card (Be sure to
weaken it first and use cardish from the back). Cave Bats are still one
hit deaths so they don't pose much of a threat. Just be careful and watch
your HP. After this battle Theo was level 7 and we had a Crimson Roc
card.

Strategy
Hmmm... there seems to be a trend with low level
monsters and level 13 monsters going on. Anway, this is a good place to
train up Theo as Roc's are a challenge and Wild Dogs are insanely
strong. Use your tactical prowess and heal as necessary. I highly
recommend getting a Wild Dog card as it is EXTREMELY powerful.
I do recommend training him up there until he's in the level 9 - 11
range.
- Chapter 4 -
New Friends, Newer Adventures!
Now that you have Theo on your party you have the ability to summon
enemies and use their special skills to aid you. The cards can heal,
cast negative status effects, or damage one or all of your enemies.
It's definitely not a bad trait to have on your party.
Stop by the guild and take a job there, as none are required at the
moment taking some will bring up a job that is required. Below are
the jobs and strategies on how to complete them.

Renn Hunters' Monster Assault

Client : Renn Hunter Guild
Reward : 200 Goz / 8 Merits
Description : Corelia Pass is being overrun with monsters. The Hunters
in Renn are overwhelmed and request assistance. Hunters accepting the
job must leave immediately.
Recommended Level : 10-12
Difficulty : .25/*****
Strategy : After accepting you will be put down by a hunter and called
a newbie. The other hunter on the operation claims that they need all
the help they can get and that you're a worthy addition. Together you'll
head off to Corelia pass and be told about the operation. You must report
to Aura and the job is to eliminate all the monsters of Corelia Pass.
Your party is the last line of defense and must eliminate all monsters
who get through the others. After a long wait some monsters finally come
to attack you. Get ready.
BATTLE 1
Enemies - Level 1 Oppossum

This is a joke battle. Use all your characters and attack.
After the battle you are mocked some more and called incapable hunters.
The woman from the guild earlier asks Aura if you can be moved closer to
the action. She doesn't come back however and Lutz gets anxious and
moves forward. He is attacked however and now you have more monsters to
deal with.
BATTLE 2

Ooooh, it's still easy. No card necessary for this battle just attack.
You may want to get a card from trhe wild dogs.
After the battle Lutz will get you in trouble by saying you moved up the
road to stop monsters. After Lutz get's cussed out by Aura you learn
that the mission is over and it was a success. Aura still says she needs
to know why the monsters have appeared but then Lutz remembers Sharon!
With that knowledge you redeem yourself and the job is complete!

Model for a Troubled Painter

Description : The Inn owner, Dan, seeks assistance for his guest, Girth,
a talented young painter suffering from creative block. Respond to the
Inn to model for Girth and offer artistic advice.
Recommended Level : 10 - 12
Difficulty : */*****
Strategy : After accepting the job head to the Inn. A scene will occur
in which the Innkeeper tells you about Girth and how he thinks hiring a
model for him will help spark his ideas and give him a big break. You
learn that he left his room to get some sea air so head to the docks.
Another scene will come in which you see Girth has Artist Block. A scene
will occur in which he wants you to pose. This cues a mini-game. When
Girth calls your name press the designated button to move. When you do it
correctly you'll win. There is a timer however. It's pretty much a button
mashing mini game but it's kind of easy. Each character corresponds to a
button.

You cannot restart more than once though so be wary. Save before hand!

Chase Away Suspicious Man

Description : A strange man has been prowling around Mina's house, watch-
ing her. She would like him contacted and removed. See Mina for details,
at her home near the guild.
Recommended Level : 10 - 12
Difficulty : .5/*****
Strategy : I think it's safe to say your first order of business is
going to Mina's house. From leaving the guild go to the right to the next
house and watch the scene unfold. When you finally control your party you
will be in a battle which you must fight.

Easy battle, have Alec and Lutz attack the Crimson Roc, Theo can take out
the Poison Mushrooms by either using a card or turning them into one and
the slimes aren't a force to be reckoned with.

New Parent for the Baby Monster

Reward : 180 Goz / 8 Merits
Description : The baby monster living at the society cries a lot and
seems ill. They seek someone adept at raising monsters. Contact the
Monster Society for details.
Recommended Level : 11 - 13
Difficulty : .5/*****
Strategy : Doesn't the description remind you of that monster you
dropped off... hmmm... Accept the job and go to the Monster Society.
There watch the scene and head to Vernica which is past Corelia pass and
just before the Great Scar. In Vernica go up the main road (talk to the
boy by the well for some laughs) and to the last house on the left. The
elder is there and will tell you of Lieza. Before you leave for Astorny
Bridge check the barn next to his house for some goodies. Then go to
Astorny Bridge and watch the scene. Go back to Vernica and watch another
scene in the Elder's house and then go to Hannah's house. Hannah will
tell you of a nut that will calm Panduit but Crimson Roc's have invaded
the area. Go to Noalis forst and fight the battle.

The enemies will probably move first and if they are in their usual
formation then have Theo use an attack card if you have one as well as
Lutz's knife Rain on the center three enemies. After that you should
have taken out three of them or significantly damaged all of them leaving
you to attack and kill the survivors.
Now watch the scene where Lutz finds the nut they need and go back to
Astorny Bridge. You are granted permission so go to Lieza's Ranch and
watch the conclusion of the job :)
Be sure to check her barn for more treasure!

Drive The Gang From The Bridge

Strategy : Move yourself to where Astorny Bridge is located and watch
the scene unfold. Lutzs is being really cocky until the bandits finally
show up. They certainly are some bandits, you better take care of them
and fast!

You may want to use an attack card to damage all of them as it will help
Lutz and Alec who should be your front line and doing all the brute force
that the job requires. Lutz may attack but be wary as the enemies are
much harder than your standard job fare - even though that isn't saying
much. They can easily do 35 damage to a well levelled party! Have Alec
heal when necessary and make sure Theo can use at least one attack
card summon to damage them. (I like Wyvern a lot). After a card they
should be in critical damage or dead - so it shouldn't be too difficult.
NOTE - Rainbow Gang cannot become cards.
After the battle watch another scene. Someday they'll find it, the rain-
bow connection, the lovers, the dreamers, and me...

Strategy : Go to the pub and watch the humorous scene unfold. It seems
Girth is having trouble with not just art - he wants the pretty blonde
girl to model for him. Lutz must now sweet talk his way to get the lady
to model. The following choices are the correct onces.

Strategy : Enter Corelia pass and watch a short dialogue then choose
your party for the upcoming battle which I have much faith in that you
can beat without party statistics. I mean, the enemies were all faced
much earlier and the only real threat of them all is a Wild Dog which
you can easily take out.
Just when it seems like job complete however an Opossum! Wow let's take
it out - but wait someone got there before you did! Alba seems rather
cocky about himself but his partners Enea and Belga settled him down
rather quickly. He's a lot like Lutz you'll notice. After that
scene you pass the job! Congratulations!

- Chapter 5 -
The UFO Connection
I would like to just take time to say that UFO should be pronounced as
ooh-foe from the old episodes of Kenan and Kel as well as All That. Thank
you for acknowledging my request. On with the review.
Hmmm... that scene you saw earlier had more to do with it than you
thought. A shop keeper seems to be offering a large reward to a person
who can find the UFO but the woman at the desk seems less than excited
to give it to you. You must know what it is though, the suspense must
be killing you admit it! However to take the job you must give up on
all current jobs which I recommend taking (I recommend doing all jobs
and bounties for experience, tactics, and goz but do as you will). When
you are ready accept the job.

Recover the Strange UFO

Description : Baguda, an old shopowner in Renn, believes he saw a UFO,

Strategy : After you accept the job go to the item store and you'll
talk to the very strange man with a wand. You may have talked to him
before. Watch the scene unfold. After that travel to the northernmost
point on the map past Lieza's house and into the Karkado Mountains! Look
who it is our old friend Sharon, but she seems to be up to something in-
volving the meteor that fell... reactivation? What?
Sharon and her friends leave and Lutz decides to check out the UFO. When
it activates however, monsters approach. Time to fight!

This battle should pose no real threat, attack or if you feel the need
use an attack card.
After the battle return to Renn and go to the item shop. Watch the scene
as it happens. You lose the UFO/Mysterious Item but gain a new location

jobs have shown up. You're going to have to complete some to move on to

Getting Away From Forestamore

scene (good times you definitely won't remember if you're blown up!)
After the uber lengthy scene head down to Monaire's shop (dock area
farthest to the right) and talk to her. Just note that I like the
water effects around the buildings. If you don't have a Vigor Seed you
will need to get one if you do however just watch the scene...
FINALLY You'll battle. *whew*

Attack. That's all the info you will need, they can poison you but you
won't be in battle long enough for it to have a major effect on you.

this is difficult because I really don't know how to tell Paundit from
the rest - wait yes I do. Paundit looks like a tame dog while the others
look like they're going to attack. He's got softer features and his mouth
isn't open. Just pick that one and you should be set. Good luck!

Strategy : After accepting this job go see Baguda at the Renn Shop.
Watch the scene there and hear about the boat, well you still better
check. Head down to the port and hear about how hard it will be to get
from Forestamore to Society Village. It is then that Theo remembers a
flying monsters card at the monster society that could take you there.
Well let's go get it! Head to the monster society back in town.
The monster society has the card but says it can only be activated by
someone who can talk to monsters - that sounds like Lieza. Unfortunately
they won't be handing it over for free, you need to get three cards that
they want in exchange for the Flying Fire card you need. The cards are
Wild Hemo-Ji
Dandelion
Slime
Where are we gonna find those? First things first go and talk to Lieza.
Once at the ranch enter the house and watch the scene. She says that
when you get the card she will summon it for you. Awesome! Quick go back
to the Monster Society and try trading for the cards you need. Talk to
the woman in a red dress and she will say she wants a Crimson Roc card
for one of the cards you need. If you don't have a Crimson Roc card go
out and get one and when you do return and trade with her.
Crimson Roc ---- Red Woman ----> Wild Hemo-Ji
After that talk to the old man next to the Red Woman to here about a girl
looking for new cards. We must find her! Out on the street talking to one
man will tell you that to get a slime card talk to someone who came from
Eteru Isle. Looks like we need to find the girl and a person from Eteru
Isle... but where could they be?
Head to the docks to see if any ships have come in. You will meet the
familiar ship captain who will tell you that to get the Slime Card you
must help them take inventory. Only count the boxes and jars not the
flower arrangements - be sure to count them individually (learned that
the hard way lol).
Counting Boxes ---- For Captain ----> Slime Card
Now for the last card, we need to find that girl. Go to Hannah's house,
she will tell you the Dandelion may be at the Great Scar/Sealed Ruins.
Go there and you will fight a battle

You will have to weaken the Dandelion so make sure Theo does that as
his attack should be the lowest, after one hit try to capture it.
Now head back to Renn Town and trade your cards, then go to Lieza's
Ranch to have her activate it.

A large red eye opens and then it pulls back to show a flaming blimp
flying at the party. They scream as it charges towards them. Then,
suddenly holding them, it flies across the skies holding them in it's
hands. They look down and see something which it then dive bombs into.
As it dives it drops them and they fall flailing behind him.
============================================CINEMA=THERAPY==============
You crash land into a girl who was looking at the scrap. After some
commentary on probably breaking the UFO (which you didn't fortunately)
the girl comes to and fires at you. She is hurt and as you try to help
her more people come and assume you are from Gislam. They say the
area is Gudan Territory and no visitors are allowed. They then try to
kill you but fortunately the scientists prevent them from doing so, as
soon as they leave monsters come and attack, but fearing for Cheryl's
life they decide to escape and take her back to her home town of Society
Village.
On the world map head south to society village. Watch the scene then go
into the building ahead of you to watch another scene. Then... Job
Complete... woah. Finally... what a lengthy job that was...

- Chapter 8 -
A New Land
SOCIETY CITY
After completing the above job Lutz will go search for treasure. The man
at the counter of the Item Society will give you a brief overview of the
purpose of Society Village. He will then describe to you about Item
Synthesis which will be covered in a different section of the guide.
After trying out with item synthesis feel free to explore the town.
Interesting events occur in most buildings and townspeopel do have things
to say so talk to them. The next storyline thing however occurs at the
Weapon Society so be ready to watch it when it occurs.
At the Weapon Society Cheryl gives them a new weapon she has created.
AFter they fawn over how perfect it is and how great of a weapon smith
she is you will approach her and be told about her experiments with
weaponry and creating them. She will storm off after a man calls you her
friends - wow you are horrible people! You will then be told about how
she lives in the slum city of Gislem and that she's just trying to make
the best out of a bad situation. You will be told (again) that the guild
is in Gislem. Maybe you should check it out.

Strategy
Talk about toughest battle yet, Shades can deal
about 50 damage to your party! Take them out by using whatever you have
whether it be cards, attacks, or special skills. Group together and have
Alec heal the party each turn until the shades are dead. Fortunately
they suffer from Low HP and Def so an attack or two can eliminate them.
The Stun Smogs on the other hand aren't much of a threat so simply
attack them. They can paralyze you though so beware of that. Be careful!

GISLEM
Enter Gislem and watch the scene showing you the slummy city. Looks kind
of like Midgar from Final Fantasy 7 except not as fantastical. You will
then see a scene of a person getting mugged. Alec being Mr. Obvious will
then say that you'll have to watch your step around these parts. D'uh!
Wandering through and examining the people on the street will tell you
about a danger dome. I'd save at the inn and continue exploring the town.
When you are ready head to the right through the buses past the man
who told you about the danger dome. A man there tells you no one is at
the Danger Dome right now, and with nothing else to do leave and head
to the guild to pick up your next job.
Of course the next job is storyline required so you have to do it to
progress, and it is called Gislem Census!

Reward : 200 Goz / 8 Merits
Description : People have been disappearing from Gislem on a regular
basis. Perform a census by speaking to everyone in town, and report the
findings to the guild.

Strategy : Talk to everyone! Move one building at a time talking to
each individual person. Not that hard (fortunately). A meter in the upper
left corner of the screen tells you how many people there are. For fun
talk to the empty booth next to the guild head lol.
In the bar go up the stairs and to the only room you can enter to watch
a scene. Watch the scene in the orphanage. You'll meet Sharon in the
academy building. Remember to do the dome and watch that scene unfold.
By the end of the census you should have 31 people. Go back to the guild
and report your findings to redeem your prize!

After taking that job you can return to the guild and take your choice
from 5 New Jobs that just happen to be there. Below are the walkthroughs

Help The Troubled Customer

Description : The Gislem Inn owner is worried about a despondent guest,
and is afraid to leave the Inn until the woman can be coaxed from her
room and comforted. See owner for details.
Recommended Level : 16

Strategy : After accepting this job make your way to the Inn. You
should by now be familiar with the town layout as the Census Mission
will have given you an idea of where to go.
Alright, go to the Inn and watch the scene. After the scene go into the
first door to enter her room. You'll soon learn that the reason why she
is so mopy is because her son's spear was stolen and that it ended up in
The Danger Dome. So go there!
Talking to people inside the Dome will show you that a man has the spear
and many theives have been beaten in trying to acquire it. So it's up
to you to get it. You'll have to wager something to enter though, so
pick an item and let Theo take care of the rest.

This shouldn't be too bad. Have Theo use Card Field early so that his
defense is good, then attack and use cards at will healing when
necessary with an item. It took me three hits to kill the guy with a
level 16 Theo so you shouldn't have too much trouble.
After the battle you will go back to the hotel and present the woman
with the spear. Watch the touching scene unfold and get your mission
complete - wait... maybe not.
That wasn't the right spear! There has to be another one in the town
that's the one that got stolen and now Lutz has become determined to
find it and help the woman out.
So look around the town if you want to do this by yourself or you can
just go to the bar and talk to the man there with a spear. You will
have to fight another battle! Go to the danger dome and take the guy on.

Use card field early again and attack using cards or regular attacks.
Remember the heal when necessary.
After this battle you finally get the right spear. Return it to the
woman and now the job is actually complete.

This section is probably the laziest of them all but there are a lot of
bounties and I didn’t want them cluttering the walkthrough. They are
numbered like they appear in the game with all that information, except
that it now includes recommended level, strategy, status, and difficulty
so you can know how to tackle them! These enemies won’t necessarily show
up on your first try but continue to look for them. Good luck!
Also included are parties that you may encounter them with. Lots of
battles in this game are random so I cannot write down every encounter.
4.1 Bounties of Itio Guild and Eteru Isle

A shape-shifting monster is attacking travelers on Tohde Bridge.
Remove this threat to tourism.

The odorous monster’s scent results in absent-mindedness and sleep.
Exterminate the fuschia freak.

Plain. Defeat the fanged rodent.

Although this poison-spitter has yet to leave the swamp, it's venom
has become more virulent. Eliminate future risk.

This uncharacteristically intelligent, strong Slime has caused
untold damage. Liquefy the monster.

for all. This guy can do major damage though so be wary and try to
keep Theo out of danger as he is probably the lowest of your characters.
14 Glint (Cockatrice) 200G 2 Merits
Glint attacks Mountain Range travelers, paralyzing them with a flash
of it's own eyes. Cripple the evil bird.
