3. Intro
Though an old game by any standard, Tomb Raider was an instant success in the
gaming world, presenting a wonderful environment, intriguing plot, and
intense game play. A true classic, Tomb Raider is one of those games where
you think that whoever created it must have been a genius. Lara's world is
rough place, however, and reaching your goal will be no where near easy. I
hope this guide helps you in your mission but above all else, have fun with
Tomb Raider. Good luck!

4. The Basics
Whether you're familiar with Lara's worlds or you're just getting used to it,
Tomb Raider can be a challenging game without knowledge of the basic aspects
of movement and combat. This section is meant to help you familiarize
yourself with the most powerful weapon in the game: knowledge.
=================
a. Controls
D-pad: Moves Lara about. Pressing (and holding) up will cause Lara to run
forward. Pressing left or right will cause Lara to face those directions and
pressing down will make Lara hop backwards a short distance. The D-pad is
also used to the control the direction of your swimming.
Triangle: Draws and holsters your weapon. With your weapons drawn, you won't
be able to perform some of the actions you normally would, such as grabbing
or manipulating objects. If you equip a new weapon, Lara automatically draws
the weapon. If you exhaust all of the ammo for a weapon, Lara automatically
draws the Pistols.
Circle: Makes Lara roll forwards and finish facing the opposite direction.
This move is extremely handy for combat situations.
X: This is the action button. It does just about everything for Lara. Use it
pick up objects, manipulate switches, and use items. If you find a movable
block, press and hold the action button and Lara will brace herself. After
that, press up to the push the block and down to pull it. Lara can also grab
and hold ledges. As long as you have the action button down, Lara will hang
indefinitely.
Square: Causes Lara to jump straight up. Pressing square immediately followed
by a directional button will make Lara jump in that direction. When jumping
forwards, you can press left or right to veer in that direction. Jumping
backwards or sideways will cause Lara to flip while in the air.
R1: Holding this button will put Lara in Walk mode. With R1 down, Lara will
walk carefully instead of running. Not only can you move carefully but Lara
won't step off the edge of a platform or step onto a sliding surface while
walking.
L2 and R2: Pressing L2 will make Lara sidestep left, while R2 causes her to
sidestep right. Useful in some instances.
L1: This is the look button. Hold it down and use the directional buttons to
turn the camera so you can better view your surroundings.
Other Actions
There are a number of other moves Lara can use which are essential to your
success.
Grabbing Ledges- While in the air after a jump, press and hold action and
Lara will hold out her arms. If she reaches the edge of a platform she will
grab hold of it. Press forward to climb up or release action to drop down.
You can also hold right or left to shimmy along the ledge in those
directions. This move allows you to move to a safer part of a platform before
pulling up or sometimes you have to use it to move to space that is big
enough for Lara to pull up into.
Running Jump- The running jump allows Lara to leap even greater distances
than a standing jump. The only requirement is a little bit of running space
(see the Movement section). A grab in mid-air is also possible.
Vaulting- If you are faced with a block or wall and Lara can jump high enough
to reach the edge above you, press and hold forward and action and Lara will
leap straight up and grab hold of the edge.
Inching- If you need to jump up and grab a platform but you can't use the
vault, simply hold jump and action. Lara will jump straight up and down,
inching forwards with each jump until she grabs the ledge.
Pushing Blocks- Some blocks can be manipulated to clear a path or reach a
higher ledge. See the controls section on how to manipulate them.
Swimming- When Lara enters water, her skin takes a blue hue. While treading
water, you can use the D-pad to move in any direction. Press and hold Jump to
dive down. While underwater, the Jump button makes Lara swim while the D-pad
controls her direction. If you find a switch or item, swim near it and hold
action. When at the edge of a pool, hold forward and press action to climb
out.
Menu Rings- Pressing select will pause the game and bring up your menu ring.
Here, you can view and use/equip weapons and Medi-packs. Two other menu rings
can be accessed by pressing up or down. One ring contains all of the keys and
puzzle items you have and the other allows you to save, load, quit, or adjust
other options.
Safety Drop- This maneuver allows you drop off of a high ledge and minimize
the damage taken from the fall (or eliminate it completely). Simply stand
with your back to the edge of the platform, tap backwards, and hold action.
Lara will hop off and grab the ledge on the way down. You can also stand one
or two steps back, roll, and hold action. Lara rolls off the edge, changes
direction, and grabs the ledge.
Swan Dive- Hold walk and do a standing jump forward to dive. Diving should be
done purely for style. Although you can dive onto solid ground (Lara will
roll), you can kill yourself if the fall is too far.
Handstand- While hanging on a ledge, hold walk and press forwards to climb up
into a handstand. It has no practical use other than looking cool.
Using items- If you find the receptacle for a key or puzzle item, stand in
front of it and press action to bring up your item ring, and then select the
appropriate item.

b. Movement
Understanding the way Lara moves is an important part of getting through the
game. In the guide, I will refer to certain movements and distances
differently. This section will help you familiarize yourself the way Lara
moves and how to use it to make your jumps work.
The basic thing to remember is that the game is made up of squares. These
squares form the entire level. If you look down at the ground, you can see
that it is made up of square sections. Sometimes the square sections change
in color or texture to reflect that the ground looks different in other areas
but they are still squares. Even sloping platforms look like squares from
above.
With this in mind, you can see that Lara traverses a set number of squares or
segments of squares whenever she moves. Here are the distances she travels
with each movement:
Standing jump: 2 squares (3 with a grab)
Backwards jump: 2 squares
Sideways jump: 2 squares
Roll: Little less than 1 square
Single step forward: Little less than a 1/3 of a square
Single step backwards: Exactly 1/3 of a square
Backwards hop: Little less than 1 square
Running Jump: 3 squares (4 with a grab)
For forwards jumping, the number of squares traversed can be +1 if you are
adding a grab. If you do a running jump with a grab, you can go over 3 and
grab the edge of the fourth square. So a standing jump with a grab will let
Lara reach a ledge 3 squares away while a running jump with a grab lets Lara
reach a ledge 4 squares away. However, this is only if the height of the
destination platform is not higher or lower than your platform. If the
destination is higher, Lara can't reach the ledge with a grab. If it is
lower, Lara can reach the ledge even if it is beyond her normal jumping
distance. If you are grabbing in the air, Lara will stop after falling a
certain distance. Also, if a ledge is much higher than yours but close enough
that is reachable, make sure you don't use a running jump, otherwise Lara
will smack into the ledge before she can grab it.
The distance Lara needs for a running jump is a little less than 1 square. A
hop backwards (with no left or right adjustment) or a roll gives you this
EXACT distance. However, 3 steps back will give you exactly 1 square.
Sometimes this tiny distance can be the difference between life and death
when you make a tricky jump.
Another aspect worth mentioning is sliding. Some platform slope so radically,
that stepping on them causes Lara to slide down them. While sliding, you can
press jump to leap in the direction you're facing. Sometimes you can use
multiple sliding platforms to reach high areas by rebounding off the slopes.
If you are sliding down backwards, you can hold action and Lara will grab the
edge of the platform when she slides off. Another useful tactic is pulling up
onto a sliding surface while holding Jump. This way, Lara will back flip away
from the slope rather than slipping off again.
I also suggest taking a visit to Lara's house for movement training.
=================
c. Combat
Another aspect worth mentioning is, of course, combat. Lara has an edge over
all of her foes because of her mobility. She can perform any action and still
fire at an enemy with pin-point accuracy. Enemies can be divided into two
major categories: those with ranged attacks and those without. There is a
huge differences in tactics when dealing with each type and the lethalness of
a particular enemy will influence the weapon you will employ. Here are the
tactics you should use when dealing with each type of enemy. The Enemy
section will show detailed methods for disposal of each particular enemy.
Those without ranged attacks: Two words: get mobile. If an enemy has to get
close to Lara to inflict damage, then start moving. As long as he cannot get
close to you, you can fire at him constantly until he's dead. Jump, roll,
back flip, do whatever it takes to keep distance between you. Generally, you
can simply shoot an enemy as he walks towards you but it is always better to
back flip constantly. If you run out of room to back off, jump over the
enemy, and then start back flipping again as he turns around. If an enemy is
behind you, you should roll, and start back flipping. It is easy to stay away
from most enemies but some are so fast, that they'll be upon you very
quickly, in which case you'll need heavier firepower.
Those with ranged attacks: These enemies are more dangerous because they
don't have to get close to you, meaning that no matter how much you roll and
flip, they will still cause damage. However, rolling and flipping can be the
key to defeating them. Sideways jumping back and forth can minimize the
number of times you are hit by an opponent. Also, if you are in close
quarters, you can utilize a little trick to kill gun-toting enemies without
getting hit. Run up to him and roll. You will end up behind him while he has
to walk a circle in order to shoot at you. As soon as he is facing you, roll
behind him again. For those times when you encounter multiple enemies with
guns, whip out the heavy artillery as these situations are very dangerous.
Another aspect of combat is the height advantage. For enemies with no guns,
you can easily kill them with the Pistols by securing a high ledge. Up there,
the enemies can't reach you. They may walk out of your view but as long as
action is held down, Lara will squeeze of shots whenever the enemy pops back
in her view. If you need to, draw it out by hanging from your ledge and then
pulling up.
=================
d. Items and Weapons
The following is a description of all items and weapons found in the game:
Pistols: Your trusty 9 millimeters will get you through a good portion of the
game. Because they have infinite ammo, you should use them whenever possible
to conserve ammo for other guns. If you can get out of an enemy's reach, do
so and use your Pistols to finish them off.
Shotgun: This powerful weapon is best used at close range. A single blast
will kill early enemies while two (and sometimes one) will do the trick for
enemies in the middle of the game. However, enemies late in the game are so
fast, that the Shotgun will prove ineffective.
Magnums: Just like the Pistols, except three times stronger. They work very
well against any enemy, especially those encountered in the portion of the
game where you find the Magnums. You'll definitely want to keep them handy
until you find the Uzis.
Uzis: The quickest killing weapon in the game, the Uzis can kill just about
anything really fast. They eat up ammo quickly but as long as you horde your
ammo and hit all the secrets, you'll have plenty to spare for the final
levels.
Small Medi-pack: Restores one half of your life gauge.
Large Medi-pack: Completely restores your life gauge.
Compass: Shows which direction your facing. But I guess I didn't have to tell
you that.
=================
e. Enemy Guide
Here it is: a complete list of all enemies you will encounter and how to make
short of work of them. All enemies are listed in the order you encounter them
in.
Bat: One Pistols shot will kill them, so lock on and go to town. The only
annoying thing about them is their numbers.
Wolf: Wolves can cause a lot of damage if you give them the chance. They move
quickly, making them your first nuisance. Luckily, only about 6 Pistols shots
are needed to kill them.
Bear: Although rare, the Bears in this game are vicious animals, capable of
killing you VERY fast. When you encounter one, your first priority is to
secure a high ledge.
Raptor: Although not as aggressive as Wolves, the Raptors take more abuse
before they go down. Get mobile and start off with some distance because they
move very quickly. When in doubt, use your Shotgun.
Lion: Lions are deadly enemies up close and they take a lot Pistols shots to
kill. Never let Lions get close to you, otherwise you're in for some damage.
Use the Magnums or even the Shotgun if things get tough.
Gorilla: Annoying to say the least, Gorillas can climb up some ledges (but
not as high as you can climb), making it difficult to get a height advantage.
A single Shotgun blast can kill them and is also the recommended way to do
so, considering that they can push you around, especially off of high ledges.
Crocodile: Their nasty bites cause a lot of damage but you can out swim them.
Just swim in a straight line and find some place to surface quickly. They
move surprisingly fast on dry land so get the heavy artillery out quickly.
Rat: These are pretty big rats, wouldn't you say? The rodents are more of a
pest than anything else, as three or four Pistols shots will take them down.
Atlantean Horseman: These ugly creatures are very tough and can take the most
abuse of any regular enemy in the game. They attack by throwing fire balls at
you, but you can evade them easily with repeated sideways jumping. Use the
Uzis to get rid of them quickly. This guy, like all Atlantean enemies, will
explode when it dies, so try to kill it from a distance.
Puma: Deal with this enemy the same way you would a Lion.
Mummy: Mummies attack by jumping around, knocking Lara all over the place.
Their wild, radical movements make it difficult to hit them. Use your Magnums
or try to reach a high ledge. You won't have the Uzis by the time you first
encounter them. Like Atlanteans, mummies will explode when they are killed.
Atlantean Crawler: They act just like mummies and should be dealt with the
same way, except for one difference. Atlantean Crawlers will unleash fire
balls at a distance, so either shoot from a distance while avoiding the
projectiles or get up close and personal.
Atlantean Flyer: These enemies fly around initially but once they get close,
they land and act just like Crawlers do. They have fire balls also, and they
use them in the air sometimes.

f. Other Important Things
Saving
The blue rotating crystals are called Save Crystals. Go up next to one and
hit Action to save your game. It isn't always best to save whenever you find
one but if you feel comfortable with your progress and you know where a Save
Crystal is, by all means, use it. In the PC version, you can save whenever
you want.
Secrets
All levels in Tomb Raider have secrets. These areas are hidden stashes of
ammo and Medi-packs and are a great source for supplies if you care to go out
of your way to get them. Most levels have 3 secrets, others have 4 or 5.
Floor hazards
You'll notice some floors that are laden with spikes. Falling on them results
in instant death. Walking in them is the only safe way to move about.
Lining up jumps
Some jumps are very tricky and require precise direction. If you need to see
the exact direction Lara is facing, simply hold the Look button.

5. The Walkthrough
a. Caves
(scene) Lara and her guide are walking through the snowy mountains, en route
to the tomb of Qualopec. They reach a set of huge stone doors and Lara, being
the intrepid adventurer that she is, gets out a grappling hook and climbs to
the top of the doors. She pushes in one of the stone symbols and the doors
creak open. However, the guide is attacked by a pack of wolves. Lara jumps
down, firing her guns, in an attempt to the save him but she is too late. By
the time the last wolf goes down, the guide has already bitten the dust. As
Lara enters the cave, the doors slam shut behind her.
Start off by running down the long snowy cave path, following the wolf
tracks. As the cave widens into a hallway, darts fire from either side.
Continue running, adding a few jumps to avoid the darts, and then round the
corner. Here, Lara looks up to opening to her left. This is where we need to
go.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Instead of climbing up into the opening, proceed forward to the slanted
pillar. Put Lara's face into the wall, opposite the pillar, just below the
opening in the wall. Back flip, and then jump off the slope. Use a grab after
the second jump to get into the opening. Here, there is a Small Medi-pack.
Simply safety drop to get back to the ground.
=============================================================================
Climb up into the rocky passageway and move forward, taking out the bats as
you go. There are three of them to take care of.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
Go through the cave to your left and you'll find a wall. Go all the way to
the left of the wall and stand at the top of the snowy corner. Use the
vaulting actions to climb up to the ledge. Take out the bat and take the
Small Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
At the end of the bat hallway is another cave opening to the left. Go in and
slide down the slopes and platforms. Safety drop into the hole and throw the
switch to gain access to the next room. Kill the bat, and then jump atop the
snowy ledges in the corner. Climb up through the hole in the ceiling and run
down the path until you come to a large room with two bridges. Kill the
wolves down below, and then turn right and follow the stone trail to the
first bridge. Cross it and continue forwards to the next bridge. Cross this
one and then go into the next room.
In the pit down below is a bear. If you want, you can go down there, but
killing the bear first would be a good idea. When he's dead, safety drop into
the pit and go into the opening. Kill the two bats and pick up the Small
Medi-pack before stepping on the pressure pad, allowing access to the bridge
room. From the floor, you can climb back up to the bridges and return to the
pit room.
Run and jump across the pit, where you'll find a Save Crystal. Before running
down the stairs ahead, go to the left and pick up the Small Medi-pack. Go
into the next room and kill the two wolves before they reach you. Proceed
down the stairs and go into the small alcove beneath the stairs for a Small
Medi-pack. Go over to the other side of the room and climb up to the ledge
with a switch. Throwing the switch opens the exit door for a limited time. As
you soon as you throw that switch, turn left, walk to the edge, and use a
standing jump forward. You land a low stone platform. Here, walk to the edge
and use another standing jump to reach the doors.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Near the doors, you can see a ledge jutting out, hidden by some moss and
foliage. Take a running jump to reach it, and then proceed into the room with
the mural on the wall. Pick up the Large Medi-pack and leave.
=============================================================================
Run up the long flight of stairs, jumping as you go to avoid the darts. When
you reach the top, turn left and kill the wolf before he can attack you. Step
on the breakable tiles and you will be deposited in a corridor. Follow it to
the end and take a running jump to the other side of the room. Follow this
corridor to the Large Medi-pack lying on the ground. Kill the wolf before
picking it up. Go into the room that the wolf came from and throw the switch
to the open the exit doors. Return to the corridor and fall off the ledge to
the floor of the room. You'll take a little bit of damage but it's nothing
serious, so just run through the doors to finish the level.
=================
b. City of Vilcabamba
When the doors open, get ready to rumble with three wolves. Two attack from
the front, while another attacks from the left. Once they're dead, go forward
and run through the small corridor, ignoring the central area. In the next
room, kill the wolf and move into the next corridor, killing some bats.
Follow this corridor all the way to end, where a wolf attacks from a blind
corner. Kill him and take the Small Medi-pack hidden in the grass. Continue
down the corridor until you come to a locked door, beyond which are some more
bats. Kill them, and then take any path to the central room. One path from
the central room leads to an area that looks like horse stables. If you go in
here, a bear will attack. The upper level of that room has a Small Medi-pack,
so it's up to you whether it's worth the fight with the bear. Dive into the
water when you're ready for some secrets.
In the water, swim down and take a right. When you enter the room, turn left
and look for the switch in the corner of the room. Throwing it opens a secret
area.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
In the corner of the room directly opposite the switch you pulled, is another
switch. Throwing it opens a door above you. Surface in the room and take the
Small Medi-pack. Throwing the switch allows you to return to the central
room. If you want secret 2, read on.
=============================================================================
Back in the initial tunnel you were swimming through, take the other path.
This leads to another pool room.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
In this room, a door should be open in one of the corners. Inside, is a stash
of Magnum Clips and a Small Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
Return to where you first entered the water. Climb out and go towards the
door with a switch next to it. Open the door by throwing the switch, and then
climb the stairs. Take a running jump with a grab to get to the opening
across the hallway (the grab prevents Lara from hitting her head on the
wall). Inside, drop onto the breakable tiles, and immediately run forwards,
taking a jump to an alcove with a Large Medi-pack inside. Safety drop into
the room. See the section of the wall with two small holes? This is a movable
block. Grab hold and push it forward into the next room. A bat will appear
above, so kill him and proceed forward. The niche on the left has a Silver
Key, while the right niche has a Gold Idol. Take both of them and use the
block to climb to upper level. Take out the bats and use the Save Crystal.
Near the opening in the wall is a Large Medi-pack. Take it, kill the bats,
and safety drop back to the central room. Remember that locked door you saw
earlier? Use the Silver Key to open it. Inside, time your run past the darts.
In the next room, turn left and run towards the wolf, firing your guns. As
soon as it's dead, roll, and then open fire on the wolf behind you. Approach
the large building ahead and three more wolves attack; 1 from the left and 2
more from the stairs ahead. Once the action dies down, take a look at the
three doors and take the left one.
Follow the path to a pool room. Climb the stairs and ledges, and take a
running jump to the flat ledge above the pool. Follow the stairs to the top
of the room, taking out the bat. Run and jump across the gap and continue
into the next room, which has a Small Medi-pack and switch. Throwing the
switch opens the right hand door. Hang and drop from your ledge onto the
rocky ledge beneath you. Pick up the Shotgun Shells and safety drop to the
red roof of the structure. Run beneath the rocky ledge for another Small
Medi-pack, and then safety drop to the front of the structure. Go into the
door you just opened.
Here, you find another pool room with some collapsing tiles. Climb the stairs
to your right to face the first set. Put Lara's back to the wall and use a
running jump with a grab to reach the ledge. Here, climb up the next two
ledges and make your way around walls of the room, jumping across a series of
platforms. When you reach the last one, climb the stairs into a room with a
another switch. Throwing it opens the center door. Outside is another Save
Crystal.
Safety drop your way back to the ground floor and go through the middle door.
Time your run past the swinging axes. Throw the switch and the floor opens
up, dumping you into a pool of water. Swim forwards until you surface in
another pool with a bear lumbering ashore. Do NOT climb out. Instead, swim
back down through the opening just beneath you. Swim through, surface, and
climb the stairs to the upper level. Throw the switch to open one of the two
exit doors, and use your perch to kill the bear from a safe location. Now
safety drop down to the lower level.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Among the pillars on the lower level is a staircase leading to the upper part
of the room (opposite the side you reached by swimming through the opening in
the pool). Up here is a switch that turns off the axes but more importantly,
examine the corners of the room carefully. One of them hides a secret passage
the can't be seen unless you stand right in the niche. Follow the path and
safety drop into the room, where you'll find some Uzi Clips.
=============================================================================
When you're ready to leave, plug the Gold Idol into the socket to open the
door, and then proceed down the tunnel to finish the level.
=================
c. Lost Valley
Run down the initial tunnel and jump into the river. The current carries you
over a waterfall and into a pool of water. Climb out and dispatch the two
wolves. Go forward through the opening in the rocky crag, where another wolf
attacks. After he's dead, keep going until you come to a wall and path to
your right. Three wolves await you on that path and you get nothing for
killing them. Instead, climb up the ledges on the wall and take the Large
Medi-pack from the skeleton. Safety drop into the valley.
There isn't much time to admire the scenery; a raptor comes after you
followed by another one as you proceed forward. Continue going forward and as
you pass under a broken bridge, the ground starts shaking.
BOSS: T-Rex
This guy isn't to be taken lightly. He moves fast and can kill you in a
single bite (resulting in a rather amusing death scene for the cold,
heartless players). There are two ways you can go about disposing of this
foe:
You can get your Pistols out and go to town. Start back flipping back to the
entrance of the valley, firing non-stop. Once you run out of room to back
off, side jump and pass the T-Rex to get more fighting room. Never stop
firing your guns and eventually, the T-Rex will fall.
Or, if you aren't man enough to take the T-Rex head-to-head, you can duck
into the opening to the right of the broken bridge and use the cover the
plink away at the T-Rex without him able to get near you.
Once the T-Rex is dead, move forward until the valley takes a left turn. You
could go into the opening near the broken bridge, but there is only a raptor
inside.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
When the valley takes the left turn, move over to the waterfall in the corner
and look closely to the right. Climb up onto the ledge and follow the path to
some Shotgun Shells.
=============================================================================
==================================SECRET #2==================================
To the left of the same waterfall, is a small ledge. Climb it and then climb
up to the higher slanted ledge. From here, take a diagonal jump to the next
ledge. Finally, grab hold of the crack in the wall and shimmy right until you
can pull up into the cave above the waterfall. Here, you'll find Shotgun
Shells and Magnum Clips.
=============================================================================
Go towards the waterfall and dive into the water. Swim through to the next
room and surface, quickly taking out the raptor. Climb up the ledges to the
top of the room, where the first Machine Cog awaits you. Follow the path
where the raptor came from and you will find yourself back in the valley.
Taking the left turn, follow the valley to the entrance of a temple, where
two raptors come stomping your way. Kill them and proceed inside. There is a
Save Crystal and pool of water. Dive in and swim down to the right to find
the second Machine Cog. Now leave the temple.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
To the right of the temple entrance, examine the wall. Find the small slanted
ledge to climb on. Here, jump over the slope to the left and grab the next
ledge. What follows now are two tricky diagonal jumps. Use a standing jump
forward towards the ledge, and veer to the right after taking off. Grab at
the last second to acquire the ledge. Repeat this to reach the highest
platform and from here, take a running jump to the roof of the temple. The
grand stash found here includes a Large Medi-pack, Magnum Clips, Uzi Clips,
and Shotgun Shells. You can get off the roof by going back the way you came.
=============================================================================
To the left of the temple entrance is a block. Climb atop it and climb up
into the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to the end, where you'll find a Save
Crystal and the broken bridge you saw earlier. Use a running jump with a grab
to reach the other side, where the third and final Machine Cog is waiting.
Now, it's time to back track to the beginning of the level.
Back in the cavern with the first waterfall you went over, use the ledges on
the left to climb back to the top. This time, move forward and turn right to
spot some ledges on the other side of the river. Use a running jump to reach
them. From here, follow the ledge around and take another running jump to the
ledge back on the other side. Now, use a standing jump with grab to the next
ledge on the other side of the river. Lara won't grab anything, but it
prevents her from smacking into the ceiling and falling in the water.
Finally, use a standing jump with a grab to the last platform and follow the
twisting corridor until you arrive at a Save Crystal and another bridge.
Cross the bridge, plug your three Machine Cogs into the wooden pegs, and
throw the switch. This cuts off the current of the river and opens a new
path.
==================================SECRET #4==================================
Hang from the ledge to the left of the bridge (as you face the cogs) and
shimmy along to some watery ledges. Drop down on them and grab the Large
Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
Jump into the water and swim towards the orange wall in the water. Take a
left and climb out on the ledge with a skeleton and pick up the Shotgun. Dive
back into the water and swim through the long underwater tunnel, surfacing in
a secret area.
==================================SECRET #5==================================
Upon arriving here, just climb out and claim the two boxes of Shotgun Shells
and the Small Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
Safety drop from the ledge and you land back in the river but there's no
water. Climb out to where you started the level and return to the cavern
where that first waterfall used to be. Dive into the water and face the wall
where the waterfall should be and you can see a new path there. Climb out and
go down this path (the door opens automatically) to finish the level.
=================
d. Tomb of Qualopec
Run down the tunnel and enter the first tomb room. Right across from you is a
sloped corridor. If you want, you can trigger the boulder here so you don't
have to deal with it later. Back up the corridor with your back turned and
then, as soon as you hear a rumbling noise, run out into the first room and
get out of the boulder's way. To the left as you enter the room is a corridor
with three gates. Just to your right next to the statue is a switch, which
opens a secret door and lets out two raptors. Go down the new path.
This room has a Save Crystal and three paths. You have to go down all of them
but you can do it in any order. I recommend using the Save Crystal after
completing two of the three paths.
PATH WITH A SUN SYMBOL ON TOP
Move into the room and a take a look at the switch opposite the brown statue.
It is a fake switch and there is a collapsing tile in front of it. Roll onto
the tile and then roll off. Now, you can safety drop into the room below to
deal with those three wolves. Once they're dead, climb up either slope and
look for the darker colored section of the wall. This is actually a block, so
pull it out, move to the side, and push it out of the way. Now continue along
the path.
Drop into the pit and pick up the Small Medi-pack. Climb out and continue up
to the top of the stairs, where you'll find a switch, which opens one of the
gates, and another Small Medi-pack. Safety drop down the hole to return to
the Save Crystal room.
PATH WITH A HUMAN HEAD SYMBOL ON TOP
Go into the room and take a look at the block. Directly opposite it is
another movable block hidden in the wall. Push it in twice, then turn left
and push in the next movable block. Here, run across the tile and throw the
switch, opening another gate. The tile breaks away to reveal a spike pit, but
you can use a running jump to get back over.
PATH WITH A BRID SYMBOL ON TOP
Go into the room and ignore the switch, safety dropping into the next room.
Turn left and climb the stairs. You emerge on top of one of the pillars. Turn
right and examine the wall closely. The pattern makes it difficult to see but
there is a ledge there. Use a standing jump with a grab to acquire it. Follow
the path and you will drop down on a block. Safety drop on the right side of
the block and move out onto the other pillar in this room. Turn right and use
a standing jump with a grab to reach the ledge. The switch here moves the
first pillar into position.
Return to that room with the first switch you saw. Throwing it moves the
second pillar into position. Go through the path that opened next to the
switch and follow it back to where you jumped on the second pillar. Take a
running jump to get on the second pillar and then use another to reach the
first pillar. Here, take a diagonal jump to the opening in the wall. Screw up
the jump, and you'll land in some spikes. Once in the opening, throw the
switch to open one of the gates. To get out of the room, take a running jump
from the opening. Be wary of the raptor as you head back to the Save Crystal
room.
Once all three gates are up, go down the corridor to another Save Crystal. Go
into the hallway, wary of the darts shooting from either side. Climb the
stairs, jumping to avoid more darts and go into the next corridor.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
When traveling up the steps, move carefully and stand on the first step. Turn
left with the dart shooter on your right and pull up into the small niche
with the brown statue. Squeeze past it and a door opens, revealing a room
with a bunch of breakable tiles. Run across the tiles and pick up the Shotgun
Shells. Read the secret 2 section to get out.
=============================================================================
==================================SECRET #2==================================
On the ledge with the Shotgun Shells, rotate Lara so that the entrance of the
room is on your left. Back off the ledge and hang from the side. Shimmy all
the way to left and you can drop into the spike pit without injury. Pick up
the Magnum Clips and then walk over to the entrance and use the vaulting
action to get out. You will take a little knick from the spikes, but it's
nothing serious.
=============================================================================
At the end of the hall is the Scion room. Move up to the pedestal and press
action to take the Scion. When you do, the place starts to collapse (notice
the mummy watching you? Shooting or touching him will result in the mummy
moaning and falling over). Run down the hall to the right, which takes you
back to the first room. If you didn't trigger the boulder trap earlier, it
will be here when you move to the first room. As you move into the room, dart
to the left to avoid the boulder. Leave the room the way you came, dodging
the falling debris and head back out to the waterfall of the previous level,
where a Save Crystal awaits you. It's boss time!
BOSS: Larson
Larson will open fire on you as you jump into the water to swim over to him.
Climb out and go to town with your Pistols. Stay mobile to minimize the
damage he causes because he fires his gun very rapidly. He won't last long if
you keep the pressure up. Three close range Shotgun Blasts will kill him very
quickly if you're willing to use the ammo. Also, if you REALLY need a Large
Medi-pack, you can jump over the rocks and return to the valley. The wall has
been caved in so you can't go any further but there is another Large Medi-
pack sitting next to the skeleton from before. When Larson goes down, the
level ends.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Before fighting Larson, dive down into the water and swim to the right. Go
through the tunnel and surface to find Magnum Clips and a Large Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
(scene) Lara interrogates Larson and discovers that the Scion is just one of
three pieces and that Natla isn't all she seems. Larson also reveals that
Pierre DuPont was sent to find the second piece. Larson then tries to get his
gun back but Lara dishes out some physical abuse and knocks him out.
=================
e. St. Francis' Folly
(scene) Lara, standing on an outdoors elevator, uses a blowtorch to cut the
wire. It snaps, sending her flying up towards the top of the Natla Industries
building. Inside, she discovers that the Scion holds tremendous powers, the
powers of the Atlanteans. The three rulers of Atlantis divided the Scion up
and hid the three parts. The second lies somewhere in Rome. Lara reaches the
monastery and finds that Pierre has already entered.
As soon as the level gets underway, step up to the ledge to the right so you
can shoot the two lions from a safe distance. When they're dead, go over to
the block and push it over forward onto the pressure pad, opening a door
ahead. Going into this door, you step on a pressure pad which closes it and
then two gorillas come out to play. Kill both of them and then throw the
switch. Turn around, run up the steps to the left and throw the second
switch. Kill the third gorilla as you leave the room.
Back outside, you'll find Pierre running around. You will encounter him
several times during the next five levels so get used to him. Attack him as
you would Larson. Once you shoot him about 20 times with the Pistols, he will
run out of your sight and disappear. Head back over to that block and pull it
to other pressure pad, opening the exit door. Push the block back to the
first pressure pad and go past it, pushing the block until it won't go any
further. From here, use a standing jump with grab to reach the lowest pillar.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Turn left from here and use a running jump with a grab to the higher pillar.
Finally, use a running jump to reach an opening in the wall. In here, there
will be a slope to the left and right. Put Lara's back to the slope on the
left and move to the right so that Lara is on the right side of the slope,
facing the slope in front of her. Take one step forward and then back flip on
the slope behind you. Wait until Lara slides down to the bottom, and then
jump off the slope. As soon as you land on the second, jump, veer to the
right, and grab at the last possible second to get the ledge. This may take a
few tries, so keep at it. Now, there is a small slope and a big slope. Put
Lara's back to the big slope and jump forward. When you land on the small
slope, jump backwards to land on the slope behind you. Immediately jump again
and add a grab to reach the upper ledge. Here, you find a Large Medi-pack and
Shotgun Shells. Don't bother with the breakable tile. Safety drop back to the
floor and leave the room, using a running jump to reach the pillars.
=============================================================================
Directly in front of you is another higher pillar. Use another standing jump
with a grab to reach this one. Claim the Large Medi-pack and take a running
jump to the ledges on the side of the room ahead. Use a series of running
jumps along these ledges towards the entrance of the room to reach the exit
door. In you go.
At the end of the hall is a long slope. Slide down and you are dumped into an
underwater tunnel.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
Slide down the slope backwards and hang over the edge. Let go and you land on
another slope. Again, hang over the edge of this one and get ready for a
tough jump. You must pull up and jump off the slope to reach the opening
behind you. However, simply holding jump will not do. You have to wait a TINY
SPLIT SECOND before making the jump, otherwise you'll fall in the water. IF
YOU MESS UP THE JUMP YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THIS SECRET! If you still
want it, you'll have to restart the level. Inside, is a Small Medi-pack and
Shotgun Shells. Safety drop into the room below.
=============================================================================
Swim down the tunnel, avoiding the crocodile and surface at the end. If you
got secret 2, you'll end up here. Before throwing the switch, you may want to
get secret 3.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
While swimming in the tunnel, you can surface in the small room on the
ceiling for some Shotgun Shells. You can get this the first time you swim
through the tunnel, or if you got secret 2, and you can dive in the tunnel
and swim against the current to reach this room.
=============================================================================
Throwing the switch empties the tunnel of water. Safety drop into the tunnel
and take out the crocodile. Run down to the other end and go up the
staircase. You emerge in a HUGE room with a Save Crystal.
In this room, you need to make your way down to the bottom by using a series
of ledges that dot the room. Bats attack every now and then, so listen
carefully for flapping and squeaking. Along the way down to the bottom, there
are two ledges on the sides of the room that you can jump to for some extra
goodies. The ledge on the same level as the Atlas door has a Small Medi-pack,
while the ledge on the level beneath that one has some Magnum Clips. As you
go down, try to stick to the middle structure so you can throw the switches
that open the four doors in this room. At the bottom of the room is the
sealed exit, the last switch, and a Save Crystal. Use the crystal and then
make your way back to the top. Now you need to enter each door and take the
key inside. If you used only the first Save Crystal and the one at the
bottom, you should be able to save after completing each room (there are Save
Crystals on the central structure). Once all the doors are open, it's time to
get those keys. Keep in mind that once you get the first key, Pierre and two
lions appear at the bottom of the room.
NEPTUNE
Dive into the water and a current carries you to the bottom. As soon as you
stop, look up and swim up through the notch in the ceiling. Throw the switch
and then swim back down, taking a left. Here, pick up the Neptune Key and
then swim back to the surface (the current is gone).
ATLAS
Kill the gorilla inside and step on the pressure pad to open the gate. Go
through and it shuts. Turn left and get the Small Medi-pack from the pit. Now
for the tricky part. Put your back to the slope and move up backwards. As
soon as you hear some rumbling, run down to the pit. Right when you are about
two steps away, roll and hold action. Lara rolls over the edge and grabs it
on the way down. Wait for the boulder to roll over you and the gate opens.
Now go up the slope and climb the ledge on the left to reach the Atlas Key.
THOR
If you paid attention in Greek Mythology class, you would know that Thor was
a god of lightning and that he wielded a hammer, so you should know what to
expect from this room. In the first area, a ball will shoot lightning
randomly on one of 5 pads on the ground. Make your way around carefully and
jump over a pad while the ball is busy zapping another. In the next area,
stand on the pressure pad and you will hear a grinding noise. Right when you
hear a loud clank, back off quickly and a hammer will come crashing down,
along with a block. Push the block up against the ledge and the climb up to
the next block. Push this one up against another ledge and climb to the top
to lay hands on a Small Medi-pack. From here, take a running jump with a grab
to the far ledge, and then grab the Thor Key. On your way out, be mindful of
the lightning ball.
DAMOCLES
Don't worry, the swords you see hanging from the ceiling don't pose any
threat... at least not right now. Traverse the room and pick up the Damocles
Key from the pedestal. Climb to the upper ledge and grab the Small Medi-pack
and Shotgun Shells before returning to the previous room. When you approach a
sword, it will fall, causing instant death if you're not careful. Approach a
sword, one step at a time and it won't hurt you as long as you stay still.
Get back through the room this way.
==================================SECRET #4==================================
The ledge on top of the Atlas door has a pressure pad. Get to a ledge that is
roughly the same height and then jump making sure that you land to the right
of the pad. Stepping on the pad opens a door at the bottom for a limited
time. Start on the right of the pressure pad and roll onto it. Run forwards
and use the "roll and grab" technique described in the ATLAS section. Safety
drop down to the far ledge and roll. Again, run forward, roll, grab, and drop
down to the next ledge. Run forwards down the length of this ledge and go
right off the end. You will land right in front of the open door. Run inside
before it closes. Here, you can get a Large Medi-pack and Magnum Clips. </pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
Approach the door to open it back up. Remember that the falling you take to
reach this room will use up about half your life, so use a Medi-pack
beforehand if necessary.
=============================================================================
With the four keys in hand, get to the bottom of the room and use the keys on
the four locks. Once the last key is used, the door opens. Go inside to
finish the level.
=================
f. Colosseum
Before jumping into the water ahead, kill the crocodile swimming around in
there. Swim through the water and surface in front of the Colosseum. A lion
attacks from the left. Kill him and go to left of the building where another
lion awaits. Here, climb the rocks to reach the second floor ledge. Follow
this ledge around the building to the end where Large Medi-pack sits. Take it
and double back to where you first jumped to this ledge. Climb the block and
climb up to the third floor ledge. Follow this around, jumping the gap, and
you come to some sliding slopes with a cave opening down and to the left.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
If you look ahead, you can see a small flat ledge among the slopes. Take a
running jump to it. From here, you need to make a diagonal running jump over
a sliding slope to another slanted platform, although you don't slide on this
one. From here, jump into the cave opening and claim the Shotgun Shells.
=============================================================================
Rumble down the slopes into the opening. Here, take out the two crocodiles in
the pit before jumping down and grabbing the Small Medi-pack. Grab hold of
the crack in the wall to the left of the pit and shimmy across.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
You'll notice that the crack widens considerably while you shimmy along. Pull
up into the cave and claim the Shotgun Shells.
=============================================================================
Drop off at the other end of the pit and follow the path to a hole. Jump in
and you arrive in the Colosseum building hallway. You can throw the switch to
return to the entrance but a lion will appear as well. Go up the steps and
you can view the arena. Pierre will attack from the left, so be careful.
Kill the two lions and the gorilla in the arena, and then drop down yourself
and head towards the pit with the Save Crystal in it. Ignore it and move on
towards the door. This leads to a prison room and two lions come out of the
cells. Kill them and throw the switch. Behind you now is another switch.
Throwing it opens the gate and allows you to return to the arena via the Save
Crystal pit. Pull up and kill the three lions and then proceed to the
opposite side of the arena where a door has opened (on the left). Kill the
lion and go through the door. In here, there are two gates. Opposite the gate
to the right is a pressure pad. Step on it to open the gates for a limited
time. Run into the left chamber and throw the switch. Leave and cut around to
the second chamber. Go through the open gate and throw the switch. Now, take
the Small Medi-pack and step on the pressure pad to get out. Go through the
newly opened door. Here, avoid the spikes and use the Save Crystal. Follow
the cave and climb up the ledges until you arrive on a rocky crag. Take a
running jump to the slanted ledges on another crag and from here, use a
running jump with a grab to reach the emperor's balcony.
Kill the two gorillas before they knock you off and take note of the locked
gate. Move beyond that and pull out the block on the left side of the stairs.
Here, throw the switch and pick up the Small Medi-pack. Safety drop from the
emperor's balcony to the arena floor. Roll, and then run to the left-hand
corner of the Colosseum. Avoid the spike pit and use the rock to jump up to
the chamber in the corner. Kill the two bats and enter the hallway. Run down
the hall and go right into the hole to avoid the boulder. Then, climb out and
continue up the hall to a switch. Throwing it opens a door in the opposite
corner of the Colosseum. Slide down the slope backwards and safety drop into
the chamber, and then make your way to the opposite corner. On your way
there, you will meet Pierre and a lion, so be wary.
Upon entering the room, you get attacked by two bats. In the next room, climb
the block and make a series of standing jumps to reach the uppermost
platform. Take a running jump to the switch and throw it to open another
door.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Go down to the initial block you climbed and put Lara's face into it with her
back towards the entrance. Sidestep so that you are on the right side of the
block. Now, take one step back and then a hop back so that Lara's back hits a
pillar. Now do a series of standing jumps: forward, right, back, left,
forward. After the last jump run into the chamber before the door closes.
Inside are two Large Medi-packs, Uzi Clips, and the Magnums.
=============================================================================
Leave the room and go to the next corner of the Colosseum. Pull up into the
room and throw the switch, which opens a door at the emperor's balcony. Swim
down through the tunnel and climb out. Take the Small Medi-pack and push the
block into the next room. Head around to the other side and pull the block to
reveal a Rusty Key. Now make your way back to emperor's balcony, mindful of
the gorilla in the arena.
Back at the emperor's balcony, go down to the end of the stairs and take the
Small Medi-pack. There's a Save Crystal here if you need it. Now return to
the locked gate and use the Rusty key to open it. Swim down the tunnel,
surfacing in the chamber in the ceiling to throw switch, which opens the exit
door. Dive back down, avoiding the crocodile, and swim through gate. Lara
takes over and swims off to the next level.
=================
g. Palace Midas
The level begins with Lara swimming out into a pool. Climb out and view your
surroundings. To the left are the gardens, to the right is the main room, and
straight ahead is a room with some ruined columns and pillars. Let's head
this way. There two gorillas hiding among the rubble, so kill them and
traverse the room, going through either path at the end. You arrive in front
of a large building with two more gorillas stomping about. Kill them and as
you approach the door of the building, it opens. Take the Large Medi-pack and
go inside. Here, there is a Save Crystal and a switch. Throwing the switch
opens the door to the gardens but we don't need to go there just yet. Return
to the pool, wary of the three gorillas in the ruins. Take the path to the
main room, killing the crocodile along the way. Take the path next to the
stairs and follow it to a large room. Turn right and go to the corner, where
a gorilla comes out of a small corridor. Kill him and follow the corridor for
some Magnum Clips. Leave, and go the other way, this time fighting off two
lions from the small rooms to the right. Keep going and kill the four bats in
the darkened area. Check around the niches for a Small Medi-pack. Leave and
take those stairs up.
They lead to another large room with sever tall pillars and four closed
doors. Take out the three gorillas and head to the right, climbing atop the
lowest pillar. Use a running jump to reach the next pillar. Here, you can
turn left and use a standing jump with a grab to reach the ledge above one of
the doors. Use a running jump with a grab to reach the far ledge in the
corner, where a Small Medi-pack and some Magnum Clips await you. Return to
the second pillar and use a running jump to reach the next one, followed by a
running jump with a grab to the fourth pillar. Use another running jump to
reach the fifth, and finally, use a running jump with a grab to reach the
sixth. Now you can jump onto the balcony with five switches.
The switches, when manipulated properly, open one of the doors below. Each
door, with the exception of DOOR #4 leads to a Lead Bar, which we will need
to complete this level. Each door has five symbols above it, which indicate
the positions the switches have to be in to open the door. The "O" symbol
indicates up, while the "Y" symbol indicates down. Once you reach this ledge,
you can descend the stairs to a switch which opens a gate back to the floor,
allowing easy access to the balcony in the future. Get the Lead Bars from
doors 1 through 3 first:
DOOR #1- Down, Up, Up, Up, Up
DOOR #2- Up, Up, Down, Down, Up
DOOR #3- Up, Up, Down, Up, Down
DOOR #4- Down, Up, Up, Up, Down
DOOR #1
Go inside and take out the rats swimming in the water before negotiating the
burner trap (you should use the Save Crystal, too). Step on the brown line
and the burners go off. Wait there for about 10 seconds. If the burners do
not reactivate, then you're set to go. Take a series of running jumps along
the burner pillars. Hold forward followed by jump to make the first jump, and
then continue holding those buttons to make the rest of the jumps. Veer to
the left or right if needed. For the last jump, make sure you hold action to
the grab the ledge. Quickly pull up and clear the last burner. Use the Save
Crystal and take the Lead Bar. Dive into the water and swim back to the
beginning. Be wary of the gorilla as you return to the main room.
DOOR #2
Go inside and pass by the large column, moving into the doorway. Hang a right
and go down the stairs. Pulling out the block causes the room to be filled
with sand. Go back up the stairs and take the left path. Run up the stairs
and you arrive near the top of the sand-filled room. Take a running jump to
the small slanted ledge to the right. Here, use a standing jump to reach
another slanted, slightly elevated ledge in the sand. Now, take a standing
jump and land on the sand so that you slide down behind the column. Back flip
onto the sand, slide down as far as possible and jump at the last possible
second, and grab to reach the middle section of the column. From here, take a
running jump to the slanted ledge, and finally, a standing jump into the
hallway. Follow the hallway and climb the ledges. At the top is a Save
Crystal. There are some bats and gorillas running around the pool up ahead,
so kill them from your ledge.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Run and jump to reach the pool. Kill the two crocodiles and jump in. Swim
down the narrow path that braches to the right and surface in the room. Climb
out and climb atop the rocks. Here, jump over the slope and land on the other
side. Quickly jump over the next slope, and you land on another which takes
you to the corner of the room. Here, slide down to another ledge and pick up
the Small Medi-pack and Magnum Clips. Return to the ledges around the main
pool.
=============================================================================
We need to reach the ground below, easily done through secret #2.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
Hang from the edge of the pool facing the opening you came out of. Shimmy to
the right and you can see the goodies down below. Drop down and pick up the
Uzi Clips, Shotgun Shells, and the Small Medi-pack. Then, jump over the slope
to the ground, wary of the gorilla.
=============================================================================
Proceed forward and check around the niches to your right for a Small Medi-
pack. Return to the first openings in the wall to the right and jump to the
ledge, with more openings on the left. Two gorillas lurk up here and can
easily knock you off this high ledge. Use the Shotgun to take them down
quickly. On the opposite wall, you can see a Large Medi-pack sitting in an
opening. Run, jump, and grab to reach the opening. Claim the Medi-pack and
then hang from the ledge and shimmy left. Drop down on the ledge and kill the
two bats before taking a running jump to the opening. Follow the long hallway
up and you come to a room with some breakable tiles. Run across them,
stopping on the platform to grab the Large Medi-pack (if you accidentally
fall, you land in the pool you saw earlier).
Slide down the slope ahead and drop into the room. Follow the hall and rumble
down the ledges. You will arrive back in the first area of the level, but on
a high ledge. Kill the lion and proceed into the next room. Here, follow the
path to the ruins room and use a running jump to the opening on the right.
Kill the crocodile in the water and dive in. Swim through the tunnel and
climb out at the end, where you arrive on a high ledge near that building
from before. Take out the bats and the two lions below, and then use a
running jump to the roof of the building. Here lies the second Lead Bar and a
Save Crystal. You can go to the low edges of the roof and safety drop to the
floor.
DOOR #3
In here, there are several grey pads surrounded by spikes. Tread carefully
among them and go into the room to the right. Pull out the block and go
behind it to find a switch. Run up the slope and you arrive at the top of the
room with a Save Crystal. The pads have become pillars. Take careful running
jumps along the pillars to reach the opening on the far wall to the left. For
the first jump, take a step back from the ledge and use a standing jump with
a grab. For the last jump, use a standing jump with a grab to slip into the
opening. Kill the gorilla before he knocks you off into the spikes. Pick up
the Lead Bar. To get back to the floor, run and jump out of the opening
towards the bare spot on the floor near the entrance.
Head for the gardens. Upon arriving, take out the two gorillas.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Just to right of you as you enter, check out the walls very closely. Hidden
among the trees is a switch that opens the gate on the left. In here, there
are two bladed doors that slam shut on either side of a breakable tile that
hides a pit of spikes. To get through, position yourself in the middle of the
square section closest to the bladed doors. Right when they start opening,
side jump to get through. In the next room are some Magnum Clips, Shotgun
Shells, and a Small Medi-pack. Use the same method for getting in to get back
out.
=============================================================================
Head over to the ledge above and climb the block to the right. From here, use
a standing jump with a grab to reach the ledge with a Large Medi-pack. Follow
the hall to a big room with a broken statue of Midas. If you know about any
famous mythology, you might know that Midas could turn whatever he touched
into gold. Luckily, one of the hands are still intact. Use the Save Crystal
on the nearby ledge and tread carefully; stepping on the hand will result in
Lara getting turned into a gold statue. Go up to the side of the hand and
press action to bring up the menu. Select the Lead bars and change them into
Gold Bars. DO NOT PRESS UP WHILE PRESSING ACTION, OTHERWISE LARA WILL VAULT
UP ON THE HAND AND DIE. Once you have the Gold Bars, return to the switch
room.
Go through the fourth door beneath the balcony and kill the lion inside. You
can reach the balcony by climbing the stairs. Here, there is a Save Crystal
and Shotgun Shells. Go into the next room and use each Gold Bar on the
sockets to open the door. Go through it and slide down to the next level.
=================
h. The Cistern
Safety drop into the room below and kill the rat. Find the section of the
wall that has a ring on the bottom. This is a movable block, so push it into
the next room and position it next to the switch. Throwing the switch opens
the floor up and also opens a door, letting out two rats. Kill them and go
into the door to claim a Large Medi-pack. Safety drop into the next room.
Follow the path and you arrive in the main room.
Walk out onto the bridge and turn right. Run and jump to the ledge with the
rat on it. Kill him, and then grab the crack in the wall and shimmy along it.
Stop on the ledge to get the Shotgun Shells, and then grab the next crack and
shimmy left. Pull up to the ledge and climb atop the ledge above the crack.
Follow it to the end to find a Rusty Key. Go back to the crack in the wall
and make your way along the small ledges beneath you. Get to the pillar with
a Save Crystal and from here, run and jump to the balcony.
Inside, deal with Pierre and climb atop the ledges to the right. Turn right
and run and jump to the first ledge. Now, use a running jump with a grab to
reach the high ledge on the wall. Take the Large Medi-pack and Shotgun
Shells, and then safety drop to the floor. Ignore the switch if you want
secret #1.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Climb atop those ledges to the right again and this time, turn left and pull
up onto the darkened ledges. Take the Small Medi-pack and continue climbing
up the dark ledges. Take the Shotgun Shells at the top. Slide down the slope
and jump with a grab to reach the far ledge, which holds more Shotgun Shells.
Now, slide down slopes back to the previous room.
=============================================================================
Ignore the switch and dive into the water. Avoid the rats and swim through
the tunnels. In the next room, climb out on the ledge and take a running jump
to the next ledge. From here, you can use another running jump to reach a
platform with a second Rusty Key. Beyond that, hang from the edge and drop
onto the blocks below. Kill the rats from below and then climb up, sliding
down a slope which leads back to the main room and a Save Crystal.
Shoot the two rats on the floor and return to the long crack you shimmied
across. Go back the other way to where you entered this room. Now, you can
reach the two doors on the left. Take a running jump with a grab to the left
door and use a Rusty Key to open it. Go inside and take down the two
gorillas. Climb up on the platform above the entrance and take a running jump
to a higher ledge. When you land, Pierre appears below, so you may want to
safety drop to the floor to deal with him. Back on the second ledge, use a
running jump with grab to reach the third ledge. Pick up the Large Medi-pack
and use another running jump with a grab to reach the highest ledge. If you
want the Magnum Clips on the ledge in front of you, face the ledge and walk
forwards to the edge of your platform. Take one step back and dive towards
the ledge, and you will just barely make it. Use a running jump with a grab
to get back to the highest ledge. From here, use one last running jump with a
grab to reach the crack in the wall. Shimmy right and drop down.
In this room, slide down the slopes and kill the two crocodiles on the floor.
Ahead is a block with a Save Crystal. If you go down the path opposite the
crystal, you can take out a crocodile and a rat for a Large Medi-pack. Climb
up the blocks and use a standing jump with a grab to reach the platform
above. Here, use a running jump with a grab to acquire the ledge with the
door. Throw the switch to open the door and run and jump across the pit.
Shoot the rats in the pit and then drop down in the section with no spikes.
Safety drop into the next room, where more rats are running around.
In this room, avoid the water and run to the ledge to the right of the door.
Climb up to the top of the blocks and turn right, so you can use a running
jump to the ledge in the corner. Here, climb up and use another running jump
to reach a platform in the air. Finally, jump to the alcove and throw the
switch to open the door below. Safety drop down and claim the first Silver
Key. When you pick it up, Pierre appears, but you can just dive in the water
and skip him. Swim through the water, wary of the two crocodiles. You will
come to an area where you can surface, but there's nothing you can do there
so swim on. Eventually, you will come out in the pool of the main room. Climb
and shoot the two crocodiles.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
Dive back into the pool and check around the walls for some openings. One of
the leads to a small tunnel that dips down to some Magnum Clips.
=============================================================================
Return to that switch you ignored earlier. You can get there by going back
underneath the balcony and using the platforms. Throwing the switch raises
the water level. Swim across the room to the other door that requires your
last Rusty Key. Here, fall in the water and carefully swim past the spikes.
Swim down into the next room and look for the small opening which leads you
to a Small Medi-pack and a Gold Key. Picking it up opens a door back to the
main room and releases another crocodile.
Swim back down to the central pool of the main room and go through the
opening which leads back to the first Silver Key. Swim up into the room where
you couldn't do anything before and climb out on the ledges, taking care of
the rats. One has a Small Medi-pack, while the other has a Save Crystal,
Large Medi-pack, and Shotgun Shells. Throw the switch on the wall and a door
opens below. Swim down and take the Silver Key, which opens a door back to
the main room. Swim over to the steps that lead to a door you haven't opened
yet.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
To the left of the door, push in the hidden block and enter the room. Stand
underneath the ledge with your back to the slope and jump backwards. Rebound
off the slope and grab the ledge. Up here, you will find a Large Medi-pack
and Magnum Clips.
=============================================================================
Use the two Silver Keys to open the doors to the next room. Climb up the
block to the left and use it to reach the high ledge. Run and jump to the
ledge with the keyhole and take out the gorilla. Use the Gold Key to open the
last door, also letting out two lions. In the last room, watch out for some
breakable tiles. The first two have nothing, the middle hides spikes, and
last one on the right has spikes, while the left one hides a Small Medi-pack.
Throwing the switch ahead opens the nearby door, letting out three lions and
that's all it really does. Pull out the block to reveal a pit. If you want
some extra goodies before leaving, pull the block out to the side and use it
to reach the upper ledge. Watch out for rats as you take the Large Medi-pack
from the center and the Magnum Clips from the left. You can also drop into
the lion room but I can't recommend that (if you do, use the switch inside to
get out). When you're ready to go, fall down the hole to end the level.
=================
i. Tomb of Tihocan
Swim down the tunnel to the end and follow it downward. Turn around and throw
the switch, and then go back up and you can surface in the room. Throw the
switch to open the nearby door. Go inside, killing the crocodile and climb up
the blocks to the left. Don't go up to the highest block, simply jump to the
platform jutting out in the room. Climbing up the block here simply triggers
a dart trap. Instead, use a standing jump with a grab to reach the other
small platform, and then use a running jump to reach the switch. Throwing it
floods the room and raises a block off the ground. Go underneath the block
and take the Small Medi-pack from the passage it was blocking. Now climb out
on the block go through the passage. Dive into the water and swim straight
down. Throw the switch to activate the current and then swim back up and go
down the long tunnel with the current.
At the end, climb out and kill the rat. Pull out the block and climb the
ledge until you come to an area with two openings in the wall. If you don't
care for a secret and some extra ammo and Medi-packs, skip this paragraph.
Use a standing jump with a grab from the closest platform to reach the
opening on the right. Confront Pierre and roll through bladed doors when they
open. Go down the path and drop into the room, killing the crocodile. Here,
there are some Magnum Clips and Shotgun Shells lying on the floor.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
The corners of this room are actually pressure pads. Run to the corner in
front of the stairs for the first, to the right of the stairs (as you face
them) for the second, and to the left of the stairs for the third. This opens
a door in the remaining corner. Go inside and stand in front of the slope to
the right. Jump backwards onto it. Rebound off and land on the slope in
front. Jump off this one and you land on a third slope. Finally, jump and
grab to reach a ledge with Shotgun Shells and a Large Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
Now go back through the hall way with the bladed doors and safety drop into
the room (this will cause some damage).
If you don't want to go right (or did already), run, jump, and grab to reach
the niche with Shotgun Shells in it, right next to the dormant axe. Return to
the previous ledge and take a running jump to the ledge with the Save Crystal
(the axe starts swinging). You must time your run and jump past the axe and
grab to reach the left opening. It's a tricky jump, so time yourself
carefully. When you reach the opening, go forward and hang from the edge.
Shimmy right and pull up to the switch. Throwing it floods the room below.
Jump in the water and pick up the Shotgun Shells and Magnum Clips if you
didn't do it earlier (however, you cannot get the secret). Swim to the
opening in the wall and climb out, taking out the rat. Jump into another pool
of water and swim through the tunnel, surfacing in a room with spikes nearby.
Kill the lion and use the Save Crystal. Beyond it is a keyhole. Ignore it for
now and instead go down the corridor on either side of the crystal. Throw the
switch to open a door, and then return to the ledge with the crystal. Use a
standing jump with a grab to reach the upper ledge. Kill the two gorillas,
careful that they don't push you off into the spikes. Go towards the door and
use a standing jump with a grab to the crack on the left. Shimmy to the door
and pull up. Take the Gold Key and Large Medi-pack, and then run and jump out
of the door. Return to the keyhole and use the Gold Key to raise several
blocks in the water. Use a series of running jumps across the blocks, and
then take the Small Medi-pack by the door.
In the next room pull the block out and move it to the first pressure pad on
the ground. This opens one of the four doors. Kill the gorilla and go inside,
picking up the Magnum Clips and Shotgun Shells. Move the block to the next
pressure pad to open the next door. In here, run right across and step up to
the Rusty Key to avoid being squashed by the boulders. Pick up the Small
Medi-pack on the way out. The third pressure pad opens the door to the left,
letting out four rats. Kill them and go inside to find a Small Medi-pack. The
last pressure pad opens the door on the wall and the remaining door near the
one with the key holes. This lets out a gorilla. In that door are some
Shotgun Shells. Use the block to reach the door high up on the wall. Roll
through the blade traps and grab the Large Medi-pack and Rusty Key. Roll the
traps again and go to the locked door. Use the Rusty Keys to open it,
revealing a Save Crystal and a long slope.
Slide down the slope and you are dumped into water-filled cavern.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
While sliding down, you'll notice that the camera angle changes to showing
the end of the slope. As soon as you see that, jump to the left. Keep holding
jump and Lara will bounce back and forth over the slope. Keep edging to the
right and eventually, you'll land on a flat spot next to a room. Stand at the
edge of your platform, looking at the breakable tiles. Take two steps back
and one step forward. Then, do a series of standing jumps: forward, left,
forward, forward, forward, right, forward. Pick up the Uzi Clips and Magnum
Clips, and then return to the initial platform and climb out. If you mess up
the jumps, you won't be able to get the secret.
=============================================================================
When you land in the water, swim forward and dodge the crocodile. Climb out
on the grey ledge and shoot the crocodile. Run through the tunnel, climbing
up the ledges until you come to some water. Run and jump across the water and
land on the small platform beneath the ledge with a switch. Climb up and
throw the switch to open an underwater door. Jump into the water and swim out
towards the entrance of the tomb, flanked by two centaur statues. Do not
climb out of the water, but instead, swim down and to the right to find a
small tunnel. Swim through and surface to find a Save Crystal and a switch.
Throwing the switch opens the entrance of the tomb. Return to the entrance
and climb out of the water.
Equip your Magnums and get ready to rumble. Step up to the door and the
statue on the right breaks down, revealing an Atlantean Horseman. Back flip
away couple time and open fire, jumping left and right constantly to avoid
the fire balls it throws at you. After clocking up about 80 rounds, it
finally falls and explodes. You can use the Save Crystal to your left if you
so desire. Now enter the tomb.
BOSS: Pierre
It's time to settle things with this guy. Take him out as you would Larson,
using the Shotgun. Pierre's gun is stronger than Larson's, so get mobile and
get close to maximize the damage you're doing.
Once Pierre is dead, take the Gold Key, Magnums, and the second piece of the
Scion from his body. Climb up on a block and jump to the upper platform. Grab
the Large Medi-pack and use the Gold Key to open the door. You can also jump
to the long ledges on the sides to find some Magnum Clips. If you really want
every kill in the level, go back outside the tomb and the second Atlantean
Horseman will awaken. Also, if you ignored the first and just ran into the
tomb, they will both awaken. Once you're satisfied, go through the door you
opened to finish the level.
(scene) Lara reads the symbols on the wall. It seems that Atlantis had three
rulers and only two of them were good guys (Tihocan and Qualopec). But this
only brings another question: Who was the third?
=================
j. City of Khamoon
(scene) Lara puts the two pieces of the Scion together and receives a vision.
She sees Atlantis as it was in it's golden age, crowned with a central
pyramid. However, something catastrophic happened here and awakened those
creatures you fought earlier. The Scion was broken up into three pieces and
scattered around the globe. The third piece is in Egypt. Lara rides there on
her motorcycle.
Start off by running forward to the edge of the chasm. Hang from the edge,
and then let go and grab the crack beneath you. Shimmy right to the switch
and pull it to open the door below. Inside the door is a block. Pull it twice
and jump up above so you can pull the second block out. With the first block
as a bridge, move the second block up next to the pillar so you can reach the
top. Grab the crack in the wall and shimmy right so you can pull up into the
next room.
As you head forward, a puma attacks from the right. After dealing with him,
climb up to the ledge above where you entered for a Small Medi-pack and
Magnum Clips. Going forward, you come to a big room with a sphinx and an
obelisk (an obelisk is like a ceremonial pillar. This one has four sockets on
the sides). Don't slide down to the ground just yet. Use your perch to get
rid of the mummy first. Head over to the obelisk and dive into the water.
Collect the Magnum Clips. Surface and take a running a jump to the slanted
ledges the near the obelisk. Slide down the grassy green area and climb up
the sandy ledge so that you are standing near a gate. From here, you can use
a running jump with a grab to reach the top of the obelisk for some Shotgun
Shells.
Climb up on the sphinx and head around behind it. Take the Shotgun Shells and
the Sapphire Key and use the Save Crystal. Go back to the front of the sphinx
and pull out the block, revealing a passage. The Sapphire Key opens door.
Inside, pull up to the first ledge on your right for a Small Medi-pack. Up
here, jump across the ledges to draw out a puma, and then shoot it from your
safe position. Keep jumping across the ledges until you come to a corridor.
Run down the corridor, killing the puma, and take a left. You arrive in a
large room with a Save Crystal on the high ledge you're standing on.
Shoot the crocodile from here and safety drop to the floor. Go down the
corridor just underneath the ledge to find a Large Medi-pack. Back in the big
room, you can go up the slope but be ready to jump off when a boulder rolls
down.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
See the statue of the cat? To the left of that area, you can jump over the
slopes to a darkened corner. Here, you find a Large Medi-pack and Magnum
Clips.
=============================================================================
Run to the pool of water and dive in. Swim through the tunnel and throw the
switch to reach the next area. Quickly climb and shoot the crocodile in the
water. Jump up and grab to reach the upper level with a Save Crystal. Run
over to the block and push it along the platform away from the Save Crystal.
You need to position the block close to the small platform jutting out in the
air. Inside, climb the block, turn around, and climb into the passageway.
Throwing the switch pulls a gold ledge out high above the room. Return to the
block and push it back towards the Save Crystal. Make sure you push it all
the way to the end of ledge. Climb atop the block and use a running jump with
a grab to reach the high ledge ahead.
Up here, push the block aside and kill the mummy. Throw the switch to open a
trap door in the ceiling. Go back out and push the block forward so you can
climb up and use a running jump with a grab to reach the gold ledge. From
here, you can climb up to the upper balcony. Throw the switch to release
trapdoors around the cat statue below. Now, head over to the left of the
silver object (looks sort of like a drum). Jump to the ledges and make your
way to the rocky platforms ahead. Take the Magnum Clips and slide down to the
Small Medi-pack. From here, take a running jump to the last rock ledge
jutting out and finally, take a running jump to reach the roof of the cat
statue area. Here, you'll find Magnum Clips. Shoot the crocodile from up here
and you can safety drop to the floor.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
On the roof, climb up on the block closest to the ledge where you can see
some Uzi Clips. Use a running jump to reach the ledge. You can safety drop
onto the ramp but if you didn't trigger the boulder trap before, be wary.
Also, this secret will register if you hang from the balcony above it.
=============================================================================
Safety drop down the trap doors you opened. Take the Magnum Clips and drop
into the dark room. Run to the small niche to your left and throw the switch
to light things up. Use the Save Crystal, take the Magnum Clips from the
ledge behind it, and shoot the pumas below. Safety drop into the room but
watch out as you walk around; a door opens and lets two more pumas in. Kill
them and go into the open corridor for a Large Medi-pack. Climb up on the
grey colored block and use it to reach the upper ledge. When you cross the
bridge, another door opens and lets two more pumas into the room. You can go
back down after killing them and get the Small Medi-pack from the corridor
they came out of.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Up on the upper ledge, look for the small ledge with a cat statue on it (NOT
the one you entered the room on, it's to the left of that one). Use a running
jump with a grab to reach it. Here, take the Shotgun Shells and safety drop
to the floor.
=============================================================================
On the upper ledge is a twisting hallway. Follow it into the next room and
kill the mummy. Climb up into the opening and follow it to another room
similar to the one below. Take the Sapphire Key from the pillar and climb up
into the next room. Up here, jump across the ledges to a switch. Throwing it
dumps the sand from the upper room to the lower room. Return to the upper
room and safety drop onto the slope. Slide down and you'll wind up in the
lower room. Run up the slope to the golden doors and use the Sapphire Key
open them. Go inside to finish the level.
=================
k. Obelisk of Khamoon
Go forward into the room with the sandy steps. Climb up onto the ledge to
your left and go through the door. Ignore the keyhole and closed door and
enter the next room. Turn left and head for the movable block in front of the
corridor. Push it aside and jump in the water, avoiding the crocodile. Swim
out into the open area and find somewhere to climb out. Kill the crocodile
and use the Save Crystal. Swim around near the bottom of the room and look
for the Sapphire Key. It's hidden in a small ledge. You can also find Magnum
Clips and a Small Medi-pack. Now leave the area.
Move onto the next block and push it aside. Safety drop onto the slope and
you land in a room with a puma. Kill it and throw the switch to open the
exit. Climb the blocks, taking the Small Medi-pack as you go, and use a
running jump to reach the door. Before safety dropping down the hole, check
behind the door for Magnum Clips.
The corridor behind the next block only has a puma in it. The corridor next
to that one has puma and a Small Medi-pack. After collecting all the items,
go back to that keyhole and use the Sapphire Key, to open door high on the
wall. Push a block near it and climb up to the Save Crystal. Watch out for
the mummy as you ascend the stairs. In fact, watch out for any mummy from now
because they explode when they die, which can kill you if you were too close.
In the next room, you can see another obelisk. This one has four items on it.
In order to get them, you need to lower the bridges. Throw the switch nearby
to lower the first, and then jump into the water. You can get some Magnum
Clips on the bottom as well as some Shotgun Shells from the base of the
obelisk. Head for the opening in the corner of the room that leads to a
slope. Slide down into the next room and kill the two pumas from your ledge.
In this room, make your way to the top by jumping and climbing up the ledges.
It isn't very hard but you have to be careful. Ultimately, you will reach a
large grey ledge with a Save Crystal. Along the way, you can also reach a
ledge with a Large Medi-pack. You can slide down into the room below and kill
two mummies, but there is nothing else down there. Use the ledges around the
slide to get back out. Climb up to the stairs and kill the mummy who comes
jumping down. Before heading up the stairs, throw the switch to lower the
second bridge. You can also safety drop down to a gated area to pick up a
Small Medi-pack and Magnum Clips.
At the top of the stairs where the mummy came from, safety drop down the hole
and make your way down the blocks. You can stop to use the Save Crystal and
you can also pick up some Shotgun Shells by jumping to the narrow ledge a
little further down. On the ledge with the Save Crystal, you will also find a
large slope. Go through the door and you will be back in the obelisk room.
Turn right and go up the steps to a switch. Throw it and go back to the room
you were just in. The slope has changed to blocks, and the blocks have
changed to a slope. There is nothing at the bottom of this room, except for a
puma, so if you want to kill it you can slide down, do so, and then throw the
switch to change the slope back to blocks.
Now, climb up the blocks and turn right. Run, jump, and grab the crack.
Shimmy right to the golden ledge and drop down. Safety drop down and throw
the switch in the small room to change the nearby slope into the blocks.
Climb these blocks and climb into the upper room, where a mummy waits. Kill
him and throw the two switches. One opens a door back to a previous room and
another lowers the third bridge. Return to the switch you pulled that lowered
the second bridge.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
After getting back to the switch to lower the second bridge, you may notice
that you can reach the top of the obelisk. Get to the closest ledge and use a
running jump to reach it. Here, there is a Small Medi-pack and Uzi Clips.
=============================================================================
Two secrets in row, cool!
==================================SECRET #2==================================
From atop the obelisk, use a running jump down to the small ledge with the
silver drum object on it. Here, there is a Large Medi-pack and more Uzi
Clips.
=============================================================================
Hang and drop from the side of this platform and enter the room nearby. In
here, safety drop down a series of blocks to the floor. When you touch the
floor, two mummies will attack. It's a good idea to trigger this attack now
because later, you will drop down to the floor from the other side of the
room. Return to the top and run to the right and grab the ledge, and then
shimmy along to the right, puling up when you reach an open space.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Climb up to the ledge above you and enter the small hallway to find a Large
Medi-pack and Magnum Clips. From here, you can also go forward and jump along
the long platforms on the sides of the rooms. At the end are some Shotgun
Shells.
=============================================================================
Go to the stairs and descend them. When you get out onto the platform, safety
drop to the ledge below you and shimmy right along the crack. At the end,
drop down and hang from the next ledge. Shimmy right again and drop onto the
last ledge. From here, make a running jump with a grab to the ledge with a
Save Crystal. Go outside and throw the switch to lower the last bridge. Back
in the room, you can safety drop to the floor and then leave.
Now that all the bridges are down, you can pick up the Ankh, Scarab, Eye of
Horus, and Seal of Anubis. Once you pick them all up, an underwater door
beneath the obelisk opens up. Swim down there and check niches for a Small
Medi-pack, Shotgun Shells, and Magnum Clips. Swim onwards through the tunnel
and you arrive in pool room. Again, a Small Medi-pack, Magnum Clips, and
Shotgun Shells can be acquired here. Climb out and kill the mummy. Use the
Save Crystal and continue into the next room. From your perch, kill the mummy
and check around the central sand bulge for a Large Medi-pack. Climb the
block and go through the passageway and you will arrive back near the obelisk
you saw from the previous level. Use the Ankh, Eye of Horus, Seal of Anubis,
and the Scarab to open the double doors on the opposite side of the area. Go
through them and down the steps to the finish the level.
=================
l. Sanctuary of the Scion
The doors in front of you open up. Go through them and pick up the Magnum
Clips to your left and right before going up the steps. As you ascend the
stairs, two Atlantean Crawlers come down. Kill them and go forward. Pick up
the Magnum Clips and climb the block so you can get out of the room. In this
cavern area, turn right and slide down the slope. Turn right again and run
along the sandy blocks and slopes. Another Atlantean Crawler will emerge
around the corner ahead. Kill him and go around the corner. You are in a room
with a huge sphinx. In between the paws of the sphinx is a closed door and
some Magnum Clips.
Opposite the sphinx are some ledges. Start climbing up the ledges until you
reach a crack. Shimmy along it and drop down on the ledge. Here, climb up and
turn around to make a series of jumps over some slopes. At the end is a
golden colored switch and a Save Crystal. Throwing the switch opens a door
near the sphinx and summons an Atlantean Flyer. Turn around to deal with the
pest. Now, take a diagonal standing jump to the ledge with the Shotgun
Shells. Run, jump, and grab to the next ledge and safety drop down to the
sandy ledges below. From here, you can safety drop back to the ground.
Head around to the other side of the sphinx and find the door you opened.
Take the Magnum Clips and go inside. Slide down the slope backwards and catch
the edge as you go over. Shimmy left and drop onto the ledge, and then pull
up into the next hallway. Here, turn left and go down the blocks so you can
jump into the water. Take the Gold Key from the bottom of the pool and climb
back up. Step up the blocks and slide down the slope. Jump and grab hold of
the bridge in the air. Turn right and use your Gold Key to open the door on
the opposite side of the bridge. You should have relative ease shooting the
Atlantean Horseman in the room. Once he's dead, go inside and take the Small
Medi-pack and the Ankh. Use the Save Crystal if needed and then head back out
in front of the sphinx.
Go over to the huge sandy slope with the blocks on it. Climb the lowest block
and use a running jump to the next block. Here, jump up and grab the ledge.
Do a running jump with a grab to the next pillar. Turn around and use a
running jump to the last pillar. Finally, climb up to the upper ledge. Use
the Save Crystal and roll through the bladed doors. Pick up the Small Medi-
pack and make your way down the length of the ledge, using a standing jump
with a grab to reach the ledge with golden colored switch. If you want, you
can turn right and use a running jump to reach the platform with the Large
Medi-pack. A running jump with a grab from this platform will let you get
back to the switch ledge. The switch opens a door behind the sphinx. When you
pull it, get ready to deal with the Atlantean Flyer.
To get back behind the sphinx, you need to go along that mountain path you
took to reach the first gold switch. Continue following that path and do the
first safety drop as before. Now, instead of safety dropping to the floor,
continue along the ledges. You should make your way around the blocks until
you come to the door you just opened with a Save Crystal in front of it. If
you want the only secret in this level, and you don't mind a little back
tracking, read on.
Ignore the door and go over the other side of the block. Slide down and pick
up the Large Medi-pack. Kill the Atlantean Crawler and jump down. Look
familiar? Step up on the slanted block and use it to reach a ledge on the
back of the sphinx's head. Run over to the other side of the head, where
there is an Ankh receptacle and a Save Crystal.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Take a look to the left. Do you see the item floating in the air? Climb atop
the section that's closest to the item and use a running jump to reach it.
You land on an invisible platform. Your prize is the last weapon in the game,
the Uzis. Doing this will summon two Atlantean Flyers, so you should test out
your new toy. Now, run, jump, and grab the ledge ahead, aiming for the left
side, and drop down. From here, you can back track to the open door. Note: if
you're having trouble with the jump, check out this link for screenshots on
how to get the position for the jump correctly.
http://www.tombraiders.net/stella/walks/TR1walk/altuzis.html
=============================================================================
Go through the door, and take a right. Push the block hidden in the wall
forward, and then go back around a and climb up to the upper platform. Take
out the Atlantean Horseman in the room and pick up the Small Medi-pack and
the Ankh. Go back outside and slide down the slope to the right. Pick up the
Large Medi-pack and kill the Atlantean Crawler before dropping down. Look
familiar? Step up on the slanted block and use it to reach a ledge on the
back of the sphinx's head. Up here, climb up and use the first Ankh on the
receptacle. Head around to the other side of the head and use the second
Ankh. This opens the door between the sphinx's paws. Use the Save Crystal and
head down there.
Through the door, you take long drop into a huge room filled with water. Swim
down and check the statues for Uzi Clips and Shotgun Shells. Swim down to the
bottom of the right statue and go between the legs. Throw the switch and a
door opens. This drains water out of the room and sucks you into another
room. Climb out and climb the pillar. Use a running jump with a grab to reach
the next ledge. Follow this to a slope and use the hallway as cover so as to
kill the Atlantean Flyer. Slide down and you land on a ledge above the
statues. Safety drop off the left side and turn around. Run, jump, and grab
the head of the right statue for a Large Medi-pack. Make your way down the
right statue and throw the switch. This opens a door under the left statue.
Swim down and go through the door. Climb out and follow the long hallway up,
picking up the Magnum Clips as you go.
At the end of the hall is a Scarab. Pick it up and the gate opens. We're back </pre><pre id="faqspan-3">
at the beginning of the level but two Atlantean Crawlers and an Atlantean
Horseman have moved in. Mow them down and use the Scarab on the other gate to
open it. Take the Large Medi-pack and Magnum Clips and slide down. Climb up
to the ledge and drop into the next room.
BOSS: Larson
After listening to him spew out his threat, equip the Shotgun and blow him
away. Three close range Shotgun blasts should do the trick.
Once you've set Larson packing, move up the steps to the last room. Step up
to the pedestal and press action to lay hands on the final piece of the
Scion, and the level ends.
=================
m. Natla's Mines
(scene) Lara steps out of a cave. Several blurred figures appear ahead. What
are they? They're Natla's goons. Lara is captured and can do nothing as she
is stripped of all her weapons and the three pieces of the Scion. Natla takes
them and orders her men to kill Lara, but she manages to escape and dives
into a river below. When Lara doesn't surface, they drive off. Lara gets
aboard her motorcycle and chases them down to a boat. Running the motorcycle
along a ledge, she flies over the water and jumps off the motorcycle. While
Natla's men investigate the noise, Lara sneaks aboard the boat and hides in
the holds. Sometime later, the boat has stopped and Natla and her men take
off. Lara goes out to the deck and follows them to the continent of Atlantis.
The going gets much rougher from here on out. The Atlanteans are out in
force, so hopefully you've been saving your ammo and Medi-packs. These last
three levels are longer and more difficult than anything you've faced so far.
Good luck!
Begin by swimming out to the waterfall. Go behind it and climb out. Follow
this path to a small room with a switch. Throwing it opens a door elsewhere.
Return to the front of the waterfall and climb out on the ledge next to the
boat. Run into the next cavern where you can see a mining machine nearby. Go
over to the box and pull it out. Inside is a switch that opens another door.
Return to the corridor behind the waterfall and follow it to the end. Run and
jump to the ledge above the waterfall. Follow this path until you come to a
room with a building suspended in the air. Pick up the Large Medi-pack
beneath it and move on to the next room.
In here, look up to the right and find the hole in the ceiling. Move the box
under hole and climb atop it. From here, run and jump to the roof of the
closest building. Roll onto the breakable tile and roll off. When it reveals
a hole, safety drop down. Follow the long corridor, stopping to throw the
switch, and then run to the end where there is a hole. Safety drop down and
you land on the box you moved earlier. Now go over to the door on the mine
tracks. As you approach it, it opens and shuts behind you. Move forward and a
boulder will roll across the track in front of you. You need to jump up and
grab the platform to your right. Do not pull up. Shimmy left until you are
hanging over a small pit in the tracks just past the first barrier. Pull up
here and the boulder won't move. Now run down the ledge, over the gap, and
enter the corridor. Here, there is Save Crystal and Fuse. Approach the slope
to coax a boulder to roll down and then move up the slope, hugging the left
wall to avoid the next boulder. Follow the path and you arrive back in the
previous room. The boulder up top will roll down, so climb up there and enter
the passage it was blocking. This leads to hole which takes you back to the
previous room.
Return to the front of the water and you will find that the boat has moved.
Climb atop it and use a running jump to reach the new ledge. Here, jump over
the boxes and you will find yourself in an area covered with Natla crates. Go
over to the crate with a crack in it and pull it out. Push it aside and pull
out the next room. Pull it out of the way and go inside to find a switch,
which operates that mining machine you saw earlier. Go there now.
Down the tunnel previously blocked by the mining machine, jump atop the box
and climb up into the hallway. Throw the switch and go back, continuing along
the path. At the end is a large room. Pick up the Fuse and leave. Return to
the room behind the waterfall where the beginning of the boulder traps was.
Go down the path to the left and you will find a conveyor belt. Go to the
left and throw the switch to turn it on, dumping the third Fuse on the
ground. Head back to where that building in the air was and go into the
control room. Use the Save Crystal and insert the three Fuses in the sockets.
This will lower the building to the ground. Inside, are your Pistols.
Climb atop the office and use a running jump with a grab to get inside the
opening in the wall.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
In the corridor, climb up to the opening to the right and go through the
door. Slide down the slope and a trap door opens, revealing a lava pit.
Quickly jump to the slope ahead and hold jump so that you bounce back and
forth on the slopes. Do this for about 20 seconds and the trap door will
close. Now climb up into the next chamber and take the Large Medi-pack and
Uzi Clips. Throw the switch to open the door and leave.
=============================================================================
Follow the corridor to the end where you can drop down to a ledge near the
waterfall with a Save Crystal. Head back to where you found the second Fuse
and face the Cowboy.
BOSS: Cowboy
When you enter the room he taunts you and starts shooting from the right.
Deal with him as you would Larson or Pierre but keep in mind that he can take
a lot more abuse and his weapons do a lot more damage. Get ready to use a
Medi-pack if necessary. Also, try not to jump around too much or you will
fall into one of the lava pits.
Once the Cowboy is dead, relieve him of your Magnums. Head for the right side
of the cliff and safety drop to the flat ledge with a Save Crystal. Here,
turn right and use a running jump to reach the slanted ledge ahead. Grab the
crack and shimmy to the next ledge. Drop down and use a running jump with a
grab to reach the next crack. Shimmy right and drop down to solid ground.
Follow the corridor until you come to another section of the lava river.
Watch out for the bubbling lava as the small lava droplets will damage you if
you get too close. Use a standing jump to reach the ledge to the left. In
here, use a series of running jumps to the flat pillars to get across the
room.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
After making your second running jump, turn right and run and jump into the
opening. Run forward and push the block forward before the boulder squashes
you. Now, pull the block out from the side to reveal a hole in the ceiling.
Climb up and take the Uzi Clips and the Large Medi-pack. Go forward and drop
down onto the track for more Uzi Clips, another Large Medi-pack, and the
Shotgun. Squeeze past the boulder and return to the lava river.
=============================================================================
Once you reach the other side, go into the corridor and slide down the slope.
Jump over the lava pit and grab the edge and you will reach a room with TNT
crates. Pull the darker colored crate into the next room and position right
next to the rubble. Climb atop the crate and jump into the opening on the
wall. Here, use the Save Crystal and run up the slope and pull up into the
next room. Jump over the lava pit to the slanted ledge on the left or right.
Wait for the boulder ahead to roll and then jump to the other side. Follow
this path and you emerge near the lava river. Pick up the Magnum Clips and
throw the switch to set off the TNT. Return to that area and the wall will be
gone, revealing a path a large room with grey ramps and pillars.
BOSS: Skateboard Punk
Walk into the room and go to the right. After he babbles about you shooting
him, grant his wish and claim your Uzis when he is dead. You can use the same
tactics as Larson, Pierre, or the Cowboy but watch our for the lava pits in
the room.
Searching around the room, you can find two sets of Uzi Clips.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
On the left side of the room, search for the pit with water in it. Swim down
through the door and take the Uzi Clips, Small Medi-pack and Large Medi-pack.
Swim back and go up to the surface in a small corridor. Here, you can drop
down back into the room.
=============================================================================
Go to the other side of the room and leave. Use the Save Crystal and go up
the slope, side jumping to avoid the three boulders that roll down, one on
the middle, one on the right, and one on the left. At the top, wait for the
fourth boulder to roll across before venturing into the next room.
Here, use a series of standing jumps with grabs to climb the ledges. Pull up
into the maze of golden rooms. First, push the block forward to get into the
first room. Leave the block and climb up into the second room. Here, push
another block forward and ignore the gold door. Drop down into the third
room. In here, pull the block out. Retrace your steps to the first room. Push
the block forward to reveal a Save Crystal, a gold door, and a switch. Throw
the switch and head back up to the second room. Go through the door and down
the steps. Push the block forward. You can see a door leading outside but it
closes as you approach. Throw the switch to the left and return to the door
that had the Save Crystal next to it. It will be open, letting you out of the
maze. However, you won't have time to relax.
BOSS: Bald Man
Run right up into his face and blow him away with your Shotgun if you got it
from secret 2. His shotgun packs a powerful punch but he is slow to fire, so
get behind him and plink away. When he turns to face you, roll behind him
again. When you kill him, he calls you a "scum sucker" and collapses. Yeah,
well screw you, too. Take your Shotgun from his fallen form.
You're in the room that serves as an entrance to the pyramid. Climb up to the
ledge to the left of the entrance. Use standing jumps to reach the dark
colored sections of the pyramid. Get all the way up to the last one and then
jump to the wall. You will land on the slope and slide down to a room. Throw
the switch, which opens another gold door. Slide down to the bottom and go
back to the maze. The door you want is opposite the door that leads back
inside (the one closes automatically). Pick up the Uzi Clips, Large Medi-
pack, and the Pyramid Key. Use the Pyramid Key on the receptacle next to the
entrance and the doors open. Go inside to finish the level.
(scene) Somewhere in the pyramid, Natla walks up and places the Scion on a
rotating machine. The pyramid seems to be reactivated. Then we catch a
glimpse of a huge egg. Outside, a section of the mountain breaks off,
revealing the top of the pyramid.
=================
n. Atlantis
The tunnel ahead lights up. Move forward and take the Uzi Clips. In this
level, you will see a lot of these eggs. Look at the arms on the sides. If
they are actively moving up and down, then that egg will break, releasing an
Atlantean. The egg ahead and the one to the right will both break, releasing
Atlantean Crawlers. Move ahead and an Atlantean crawler bursts out of the egg
to the left at the end of the room. Kill it and take the Uzi Clips in front
of the door. Turn left and approach the door to open it. This leads to the
upper level. Run across the catwalk and watch out for the Atlantean Flyer
that pops out of one of the eggs. Take the Shotgun Shells from the center and
move back to the other end of the room. Throw the switch on the right. This
opens a door opposite you, revealing another switch. Throwing this will open
a door at the other end of the room and it also brings the remaining two eggs
to life. One holds an Atlantean Flyer while another has an Atlantean Crawler.
Before going through the door, take the Small Medi-pack. Go down the steps
and throw the switch to open the exit door. Approach the door and it opens,
letting you reach the exit.
Go down the hall and you emerge at the bottom a HUGE vertical shaft. Gun down
the Atlantean Flyer above and take a running jump to the ledge.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Hang from the edge of the platform you start on and drop down and grab the
ledge beneath you. Pull up into the corridor for some Magnum Clips, Uzi
Clips, and a Large Medi-pack. Follow the corridor and drop down next to the
bladed doors. Ignore them and continue into the next room.
=============================================================================
Roll past the bladed doors. If you got secret 1, you will end up here. In the
next room, go over to the crack in the wall and back away as far as you can.
Use a standing jump with a grab to acquire it, and then drop and grab the
ledge beneath you. Pull up and throw the switch to open the door. Follow the
corridor to the top and take the Uzi Clips. Run and jump back down to the
ledge and then use a running jump with a grab to get across the lava pit. The
egg breaks open and an Atlantean Flyer comes out. Kill or ignore him and move
on to the Save Crystal.
In this room, use a running jump with a grab to reach the pillar. Turn left
and use a running jump to reach the dark colored section of the pyramid side.
A boulder rolls down, so quickly use a standing jump to the next dark
section. Take a breather here and then jump onto the slippery part of the
pyramid side so that you slide down to the dark colored section above the
second spike pit. Quickly use a standing jump to the next dark section to
avoid the boulder. Continue jumping up the dark sections until you reach the
end.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
If you look to the left, you can see that there are spots you can stand on
but they are not dark colored. Jump onto to them to reach and opening in the
corner. Here, pick up the Uzi Clips, Magnum Clips, and a Large Medi-pack.
=============================================================================
Slide down the down to the red door. From here, take a running jump with a
grab to a rocky ledge on the other side of the water. Use another running
jump with a grab to reach a pillar with a Large Medi-pack. Repeat this to
reach the highest ledge. Pick up the Uzi Clips and throw the switch. Now,
dive into the water and throw the switch to open the door for a limited time.
You must surface and climb out on the small flat ledge next to the starting
pillar and make your way across the pyramid side to the red door before it
closes.
In the next room, use a running jump with a grab to reach the lower side of
the catwalk ahead (If you did not throw the switch on the high ledge in the
previous room, you won't be able to get through this room. Use the switch on
the opposite wall to open a door to the previous room). Do a diagonal jump
into the hallway with the Save Crystal.
Follow the hallway, jumping over the spike pit. At the end, roll through the
blades and kill the Atlantean Flyer in the big vertical shaft. Run, jump, and
grab the next ledge with the Uzi Clips. Go inside and jump in the water. Down
here, take the Shotgun Shells and throw the switch to open the door. Swim out
into the next room and climb out. There are eggs in here and you can avoid
fighting the Atlanteans if you throw the right switches. On one side of the
room is a Save Crystal with three switches. On this side, throw the middle
and left switches. On the other side with two switches, throw the left
switch. When you jump into the water, an Atlantean may break out. Kill it if
necessary and then follow the underwater tunnel with the three doors you just
opened. Surface and climb out in the bloody hallway.
Follow this to a door. Throw the switch to open the door. In here, a boulder
rolls down and blocks the exit. Pick up the Uzi Clips and pull out the block.
Position it on the boulder's path and then go down the other hall. Approach
the door and it opens, resetting the trap. Go back to the switch you threw
earlier and throw it again. This time, the boulder rolls down and is blocked
by the block you moved. Go into the hallway and you will be back in the
vertical shaft with another Atlantean Flyer.
Run and jump to the next ledge. Follow this one to a room with two slopes.
Kill the Atlantean Flyers that come out of the eggs. Slide down and jump over
the spike pit. Here, pick up the Uzi Clips, Shotgun Shells, and the Large
Medi-pack. Follow the hallway to a large room with a central bloody mass.
Move towards it and kill the Atlantean Flyer. Pick up the Uzi Clips and go
left. Jump to the flat ledge and then do a diagonal standing jump to the
small platform around the corner. When you land, the egg breaks. Kill the
Atlantean Flyer before he knocks you off! Follow the corridor to some Uzi
Clips. Take them and do a running jump towards the bloody mass, landing on
the slanted platform. Use a running jump to the flat ledge on the other side.
Go right, pick up the Uzi Clips, and throw the switch. Double back and run
and jump over the slope. Here, pull out the block and enter the corridor.
Roll through the bladed doors at the end and turn to deal with the two
Atlantean Crawlers on the slope. Run and jump to that slope and climb the
ledges. At the top, take the Uzi Clips and the Small Medi-pack. Move forward
back into the vertical shaft, wary of the Atlantean Flyer.
Run and jump to the next ledge. In here, use the Save Crystal and run and
jump to the ledge directly ahead. In here is a switch that changes the
pillars a little bit. Return to the first ledge and do a running jump to the
closest pillar. Follow this with a standing jump to the next pillar. Use a
running jump to the small flat ledge beneath the opening in the wall. Climb
up and throw the switch inside to open the exit. Use a standing jump to the
next pillar, followed by a running jump with a grab to second to last pillar.
Finally, use a standing jump to reach the last pillar. Jump into the hallway
and follow it to a bloody slope. Walk inside and then pull back to draw out
the three Atlantean Crawlers. When they're dead, run up the slope to the end.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
At the end of the slope to the right is an open door with Uzi Clips, Shotgun
Shells, and a Large Medi-pack. This door is on a timer which starts when you
climb the slope. If you walked in and fought the Atlanteans on the slope,
chances are that this door will be shut when you kill them.
=============================================================================
At the end of the slope, you will come to a door. It opens as you approach
and you will enter another hallway with a door in front of you. DO NOT THROW
THE SWITCH. You might think the switch will open the door but it simply
causes the lava to your left to flow out after you. Instead, just climb up
the hole to the left after entering. The door that doesn't open is actually a
real mystery. The Medi-pack you can see may be there just to make it more
enticing to throw the switch, but no one really knows if you can actually get
in there. After climbing up the hole, move forward to the vertical shaft
room. No Atlantean Flyer this time.
Run and jump to the next ledge with the Uzi Clips. Take them and proceed into
the next room. Kill the Atlantean Crawler and take the Uzi Clips. Up ahead,
there is a slope with darts flying from either side, with a bladed door at
the top. Go around to the side of the slope and pull up next to the bladed
doors to coax the boulder out. Go up the slope, avoiding the darts and go
into the throne room with a Save Crystal. The thrones are marked with a "T"
(Tihocan), "Q" (Qualopec), and an "N" (Natla). Go over to Natla's throne and
push the block in. Here, there is a door and two switches. The switches will
open the trap door you are standing on. You only need to go down one of the
pits. The left has a pit of spikes. Jump as soon as you land to clear them.
The right one has a lava pit. Jump over the lava pit to get a boulder
rolling, and then back flip back over the pit to avoid the boulder.
Continue forward and climb up to find a switch. Throw it to open the door.
Safety drop down the hole and go through the door, which leads to a room with
three eggs. Get the Uzi Clips from the left and right and move towards the
egg on the ground. Right when you get up to it, an Atlantean Horseman breaks
out. Kill him but avoid the red fleshy ramps. Stepping on them will cause the
eggs above to break. Go to the corner and throw the switch. Use the Save
Crystal and slide down to the next room. In here, kill the two Atlantean
Crawlers. However, there's something strange about the third Atlantean in
here.
BOSS: Atlantean Lara
This thing mimics you. Shoot it, and it shoots back, hurting you. Put your
guns away and notice that the room is symmetrical. Go over to the rock side
and climb up the block. Jump to the pillar and then run and jump over to the
switch. Throw it to open a trap door. Now, run over to the fleshy side and
repeat the process to reach the top ledge. Run over to the spot where the
trap door would be and Atlantean Lara falls in the trap door on the other
side.
Head back to the other side and go through the door. Pull up into the bloody
hallway and take the Uzi Clips. Go forward to and go around the corner. Kill
the Atlantean Horseman and take the Uzi clips. As you move forward, turn
right and kill the Atlantean Crawler. Head along the left path to a switch.
Pick up the Uzi Clips but ignore the switch. Double back to the right path.
Here, throw the switch. Turn around and head back to the other switch. Throw
it, and then run back to the middle and cross the bridge into the next room
before it collapses. In this room, take the Uzi Clips and notice the machine.
This is the one Natla used and the Scion is still there. If you jump down to
the platform with the egg ahead, you can turn around and go to the left
corner. Run and jump to the door and follow the hall and you will be back in
the bridge room. Go up the ramp and press action. When Lara touches the
Scion, the level ends.
(scene) Lara receives a vision of the past. Natla is secured is some kind of
machine. It seems that she was using the Scion and the pyramid to create the
freakish Atlantean creatures you fought. Although she says they're a new
generation of survivalists, Tihocan and Qualopec aren't going to let her
continue her plans. They give the signal and the nearby Atlantean throws a
switch, sealing Natla in an icy tomb. Before she is frozen, she yells out
"You won't rest either, or your damned continent, Atlantis!"
(scene) Lara falls back from the machine, unable to get the Scion. Natla then
shows up and she intends to continue her plans. After some chit-chat, a voice
announces the imminent hatching of another Atlantean mutant. Lara points a
gun at the Scion, but Natla tackles her and they both fall over the edge.
Natla plummets to her apparent doom, while Lara manages to grab the platform.
She climbs atop as a voice counts down "Five...four...three...two...one..."
=================
o. The Great Pyramid
BOSS: Atlantean Boss
This huge creature is the toughest enemy in the game. It's attack takes
around half of your life, so heal if it hits you. The area you have to fight
in isn't very friendly, either. Falling off the platform results in a very
long plummet to your death. Start firing with your Uzis non-stop. Run around
it and jump or roll to avoid it's attacks. Try to attack it from the back or
side so you can fire at it while it takes time to turn around and come after
you. You can also run right up and jump over one of the shoulders and roll
when you land. If your life hits zero, a rather humorous scene will occur in
which the monster picks up the screaming Lara by one leg and smashes her on
the floor. Ouch! You'll know it's beaten when it clutches it's chest and
falls over. Don't stand too close or you will get caught in the explosion.
Collect the Uzi Clips from all corners of the platform and go through the
open door. Follow the path and ignore the block. Go down the slope, around
the corner and back up. Push the block forward. Jump atop it and use a
standing jump with a grab to reach the Save Crystal. Here, time your run so
that you can cross the breakable tile and roll through the bladed doors.
In the next hall, go right and run down to the block. Push it forward and
then loop around and go down the other path. Here, jump over the block and
push it forward. Run back through the hall it previously blocked so you can
throw the switch which opens the door to the next room.
On the right, jump down to the dark part of the slope. Jump across to the
other side and the lava pool will start bubbling. Run and jump to the next
dark slope and again, jump back to the other side. Repeat the running jump to
the next dark colored slope. From here, take one last running jump to reach
the exit.
==================================SECRET #1==================================
Before making that last jump, look back where you entered. A bridge has
raised up. Make your way back and cross the bridge to the room which contains
Shotgun Shells, Magnum Clips, and a Large Medi-pack. Throw the switch twice
to bring up half of the bridge, allowing you to get out.
=============================================================================
In the sloped corridor, move up the slope with your back turned to coax the
boulder out. Run down and dart into the entrance to avoid it. Climb the slope
and repeat the procedure for the second boulder. Climb the slope all the way
to the top and roll onto the breakable tile. Roll off to let it fall and then
safety drop back to the Scion room. Shoot the Scion and the pyramid will
begin to collapse. Use the Save Crystal and proceed back to the bridge room.
In the bridge room, two Atlantean Crawlers attack from either side. There's
another one in the chamber ahead, but you don't have to kill him. Hang from
the bridge and drop down on the rocks. Safety drop down the hole. In here,
use a running jump with a grab to reach the crack in the wall. Shimmy right,
taking any hits from the darts and drop down on the slope. Slide down and
jump to reach the ledge behind you. Move away to avoid the darts and go into
the next room. Stick to the right and move down the slope to make a boulder
roll down. Time a standing jump past the axe to land on a bare spot among the
spikes. Walk through the spikes past the bubbling lava and turn left. Here,
walk to the edge and take a step back. Jump forward, jump right, and jump
forward again to clear the spikes and collapsing tiles and you will wind up
on the ledge ahead. In this room, jump to the slope and slide down, jumping
along the slopes until you reach ledge with a Save Crystal.
==================================SECRET #2==================================
Before making those jumps, look to the left on the wall. Use a standing jump
with a grab and you will grab an invisible crack in the wall. Shimmy right
and drop down on a ledge with Uzi Clips and three Large Medi-packs. Now, you
can back flip to the nearest slope and jump to the Save Crystal ledge.
=============================================================================
Jump and grab the crack and shimmy right to the ledge. Time your run across
the breakable tiles and squeeze into the opening past the axe before the
boulder runs you down. Go around the corner and run down the slope, ducking
over to the right to avoid the boulder. If you want, and you jump back over
the boulder and get the Small Medi-pack.
Now, time yourself so that the axe swings out of the way as you slide down
the slope with a boulder in pursuit. Jump at the end to reach a safe ledge.
Drop off to the left and enter the corridor. Run to the end, dodging the lava
and ignoring the Small Medi-pack. Throw the switch to open the door. Turn
right and get the Uzi Clips and then double back and run towards the pit. A
boulder up above will roll off and go over you. Now, use a standing jump with
a grab over the pit. A boulder roll right at you but as long as you grab the
ledge, the boulder will roll over. In the next room, use a running jump over
the flame and grab at the last second. The burner in front of you ignites, so
take a step forward and use a standing jump to clear it. Jump over the last
burner as you did before.
In here, use a running jump with a grab to reach the breakable tile. Hang
there and shimmy to the right. Pull up when the shadow of the axe is over
you. Stand on the tile and you will fall a long way into a pool of water.
==================================SECRET #3==================================
Instead of falling in the water, pull up and run and jump to the opening
ahead. This last secret has a Large Medi-pack and Uzi Clips. Note: There is a
bug in the game. If you've gotten every secret up to this point, the last
secret will not register. To get into the water, stand at the edge of the
opening, take a step backward, and dive.
=============================================================================
When you land in the water, take the Uzi Clips and throw the switch to open
the door. Climb out and pick up the Uzi Clips and use the last Save Crystal.
Proceed into the cavern and it's boss time.
BOSS: Natla
Natla has mutated and flies around, throwing fireballs. Use the pillars as
cover and plink away with your Uzis. You can go into the small corridor to
the right for some Uzi Clips if needed. Once she falls, approach her body and
she will get back up for another go. This time, she fires projectiles rapidly
and will move if you get too close. Jump left and right to avoid these,
constantly firing your Uzis to put her away for good.
Once she's dead proceed over to the left side of the room (left as you enter)
and climb up on the rocky ledge. Here, jump over the slope and climb up into
the hallway. At the end, use a series of running jumps across the pillars to
reach the next hallway. Climb up the blocks in here and safety drop down to
the pillar. Use two running jumps to reach the first two pillars and then use
a running jump with a grab to reach the last pillar. Climb up into the
hallway and follow it to end, safety dropping onto the highest pillar. From
here, use a running jump to reach the ledge and climb up. Slide down the
slope to finish the level and the game.
(scene) Lara runs away from the exploding pyramid. She jumps in the water and
swims to Natla's boat. The entire continent explodes as Lara rides off in the
distance. "The End" is displayed followed by some credits.

7. Closing and Credits
