****************************-A WALKTHROUGH-**************************
*********************************************************************

===============================================
1. Introduction & Opening Story
===============================================

A quest to save the world, where your inventory is your life, and magic is all
around. You play the role of Brandon, a young man fighting to save his family
while battling through a world of mystical and magical beings and puzzles, ever
keeping himself entertained through pointless banter and complaining. But, fret
not! The world will come to your aid, as you and Brandon come to save it! Among
the caverns, forests, homes and castles you will explore, everything and
anything can be used. Ready your inventory, and be creative! Other than your
own knowledge, your only aid in this quest will be the items you pick up, and
the places that you click! Be careful, and remember: more times than not,
Brandon will die. Just keep trying, as something always has to work!

~~The Opening Story~~

Malcolm, the evil jester, has broken out from his prison. He has sworn revenge
on those who put him there, namely Kallak, the leader of the Royal Mystics, who
has, since he imprisoned Malcolm initially for his evil deeds, lost much of his
magic power. Hunting down Kallak in his home, Malcolm sneaks through the
window, and turns Kallak to stone. He leaves promptly, just as Brandon, the
main character and Kallak's grandson, returns home to find his petrified
grandfather. Confused, Brandon approaches his grandfather. And the quest
begins...

4. Controls, Tips & Tricks
===============================================

In "The Legend of Kyrandia", you control Brandon. You can move him across the
screen my click on where you wish him to go. You may pick up items by click
them and putting them in the inventory grid along the bottom of your screen.

You can increase your walking and text speed in your options menu. You may also
save, load, or turn on and off sound/music.

I would suggest saving this game often during your time. However, due to the
fact that you can make unreversable mistakes that may cause you to have to
start over, I would suggest saving over several different file names, creating
a new file at each section break I create. That will protect your game from
having to start over if a mistake is made.

Items can easily be lost. All items can be dropped in water, some can be eaten,
and others can be used in ways that are not meant for item to be used, each
instance most likely creating a problem for later playing, as a needed item
will be gone.

If you lose an item, don't immediately fret. Many items can be found on the
ground, and are produced at random throughout the game. Most gem stones are
found in forests at random, and some other items, like the apple, can reproduce
also. Be careful with your items, however. Some, when gone, are gone forever.

During the game, certain items will not have any purpose. Some gemstones, and
several items in the last area are unusable. If you feel like wasting inventory
space, be my guest, but remember - sometimes it is tedious to go backwards, and
you want all the room you can get.

Never get rid of an item out of plot context, if you can - i.e. don't drop
stuff over cliffs for fun. If you have to, drop currently unneeded items in an
easily recognizable place (most ideally not in a forest) where you can find
them if needed.

Last off all, have fun! This game isn't too hard. Oh, and be sure to keep your
game box and guidebook. There will be passwords that involve locating words. If
you don't have the guide booklet, you can't go on.

Whenever you are bored, know that, by click on Brandon or something random
around him, you can get some interesting comments. It may not be professional
comedy, but you can enjoy it nonetheless.

Good luck, and have fun!

===============================================
5. Playing the Game (1.77)
===============================================

Brandon finds his grandfather petrified, and immediately tries to leave to find
help. However, attempting to exit, the wall of his tree home comes alive, and
begins to talk. It explains that Malcolm's evil spells are killing the land,
which, having no defense about evil, will die without help. Malcolm has taken
over the Kyragem, which links the Other Kingdom (of the land), and the Land of
the Humans. It is up to Brandon to stop Malcolm, and save the land.

==============================
A.  Leaving Home (1.78)
==============================

NOTE: Gems to pick up here, if seen, are: topaz (a pill shaped yellow gem),
garnet (round red gem), sapphire (pill shaped blue gem).

1. In your grandfather's house, there are four items for you to take. First,
click the large pot on the left, and take the apple. Take the saw from the
shadows under the table (against the right wall), the garnet (red stone) from
on the table, and also the note. Click the note on Brandon, and you will find
it is written in a magical code. Sadly, Brandon knows no magic, and cannot read
it. You will have to take it to Brynn, his sister, to deceipher it (this is the
note Kallak was writing in the game's opening).

2. Leave the room by going down. Go down from outside the house, onto the
ground via the tree's magic arm. Go left, past the dying willow, and left
again, to the cliff corner. Go up a screen, and you will be outside the Temple
of Kyrandia, Brynn's temple. Enter, and present her with Kallak's letter. She
will remove the spell, and let you read it. It says as follows:

--- --- --- --- ---
Brynn:

Beware. Malcolm has broken free, and certainly will
seek me first. You must guide Brandon. Direct him
toward the Amulet. Perhaps the lavender rose could
key the spells.

-Kallak

PS. Solicit aid from Darm and Zanthia in building the
Amulet's powers.
--- --- --- --- ---

NOTE: You can leave the Note here. You will never need it again, and it will
only take up needed space.

3. Now, wait for Brynn to stop explaining everything you already know. Then,
she will ask for a lavender rose (as said in the letter). To get it, return to
the front of your home (down, right, right), and then travel to the right, into
the woods. Travel right once more, and, while passing, grab a teardrop from the
pool. You will use it soon. Travel to the right again, and you will be forced
to pause. Magically a falling leaf will turn to into a peridot. However, you
don't ever need to use a peridot in this game! Leave it there. Go up once, and
then right again. You should be standing before an altar. Snag one of the
purple roses on either side of the altar, and hurry back to Brynn's temple
(left, down, left, left, left, left, up and inside)

4. Give Brynn the rose. She will blather at you some more, and then use her
magic to turn the rose silver, meaning it will have magic properties. Remember
the name Darm (she says it, but it also from Kallak's letter). Travel back to
the altar, and you will see that it is broken. What is it missing? Why, it
seems the symmetry of those purple orbs along its top is lop-sided. It seems
someone has stolen one. In fact, you don't even need to go to the altar. Just,
after exiting the temple, go down and right. You will be in front of the dying
willow.

5. Take your teardrop, and fit it in the teardrop shaped hole in the willow.
Magically, the willow will return to life! The actual act does little for you,
except attract the attention of your "friend", Merith. He also has a marble.
You will find it actually to be the missing purple orb! When he runs off the
right side of the screen, follow him. You will go right, with Merith claiming
you are chasing him (which you really are doing). At the screen with the
peridot, go upwards. It seems Merith thought you'd sneak around, and wont even
check behind him. Sneak up on him, scare him, and he'll leap high up into the
tree. The purple orb will fall down from his grasps, and, after he falls from
his perch, he'll be so annoyed with himself that he'll let you keep it.

6. Go right one screen, and place your purple orb where it should be. The altar
will glow brightly, and basically activate. Take your silver rose, and drop it
in the shimmering altar. A magical aura will envelop Brandon's body, and you
will suddenly have the fabled Amulet in your grasp. It is not in your
inventory, but rather the four black stones on the right side of your toolbar.
When you learn spells, they will turn different colors. However, there are no
spells to learn right now.

7. If you wish to, return to Brynn's temple, though it isn't necessary. She is
gone, disappeared since your last visit. She will help you no more. Travel back
to the screen with the peridot, and go down two screens, and then left one. You
will have entered a cavern, and will meet Herman.

8. The bridge across the stream is broken, prohibiting your crossing. Herman
blames himself, and vows to fix it. After hearing his tale of woe, lend him
your saw. After he leaves, do NOT try to cross the stream by walking across the
rope that still hangs there. It will result in death. Go right, up, and up
again, and, by the time you go back down, Herman will have finished the bridge.
He wont have your saw however, and will go to find it (don't wait for him, you
wont get it back anytime soon, and when you do, you wont want it). Exit the
cavern to the left and finish this section - and be sure to make a new save
file, just in case!

SHORT MOVES:

1. Take Garnet, Saw, Apple, Letter.
2. Go to Temple. Present Letter. Go to Altar. Along the way, get a Teardrop at
Pool. Get Rose.
3. Return to Temple and Give Rose. Receive Silver Rose. Place Teardrop in Dead
Willow.
4. Chase Merith. Get Purple Marble. Place in Altar. Place Silver Rose on Altar.
Get Amulet.
5. Go to Cavern. Give Herman Saw. Leave and Return. Cross Bride. Make New Save
File.

==============================
B. Burning Bridges (1.79)
==============================

CURRENT NEEDED INVENTORY: Apple, Garnet.
OPTIONAL INVENTORY: Sapphire, Topaz.

NOTE: Your first password cue will occur as soon as you exit the cave, and end
section one. Use your guidebook to answer the question.

1. Exiting the cavern and entering the correct password, go left one screen.
You will find yourself before a scroll shop. Enter, and meet your two new best
friends, Darm and Brandywine. Yes, this is the Darm mentioned before, the
"Master of Scrolls". And, yes, the dragon is supposed to be the sane one. Darm
will, after his confusing dialogue with Brandon and Brandywine, ask for a
quill. This task will take several steps, including getting your first Amulet
spell.

2. Leaving the shop, and go down a screen. Go right one screen, take the
walnut, and go left. Go left again to the marble altar, and then left another
time. Take an acorn off the tree. If you choose to go up after this, do NOT
take a ruby from the tree. You cannot survive doing so yet. Go down and right,
and take the pine cone off the forest floor. With your three "nature nuts", go
right to the old Kyrandia Tree, down, right again, and down once more. You
should be in a dead section of the forest, with a hole in the center.

3. Drop the walnut, acorn and pine cone in the hole in any order. Once the
third "nature nut" is in, the ground will explode, and a giant golden flower
will shoot up to the surface. After bantering with Brandon for a while about ,
it will "thank you for restoring life to the Deadwood Glade" by blessing you
with the power of healing, your first spell. Your amulet's top stone should
glow yellow. Click it when you need to heal anything.

4. Go up three screens from the Deadwood Glade. You will find an injured
Cardinal in its nest. Why, couldn't it use some help from your new curing
spell? Click the yellow amulet stone to heal the bird, and it will give you a
feather (suitable as a quill) in return. Return to Darm's Scroll Shop, and
present him with the quill. After some talking, you'll receive the Scroll of
Winter, and a clue to your next step. You have to find your birthstones. Sadly,
except for the first stone, whatever these stones are will be different in each
version. First, however, you must get the sunstone, or rather, the stone of
summer, which is only a few screens away.

5. Leave Darm's shop, and do down, right, down, right. You should be by a
stream. Grab a tulip while you're there, but also, click on the bottom part of
the stream. Your sunstone was underwater! Now, all you need to do is collect as
many other stones that you can, and get ready to test them. Walk around
searching for it. If you manage to wander to the enterance to the cavern shaped
like a dragon's face, DO NOT enter it yet. Keep searching for stones, even if
you have to go back to the last area (grab that peridot you left behind before,
if need be). If you want to get a Ruby (down, left, left and up from Darm's
Shop), take one from the tree, and, if bitten by a snake, use your healing
spell to cure yourself. That is the only way to survive getting a Ruby.

POSSIBLE GEMS: Opal, Onyx, Diamond, Ruby, Topaz, Garnet, Peridot, Aquamarine,
Sapphire, Garnet, Pearl, or Amethyst. They may not all be available at one
time. The Emerald is not available yet, nor can it be torn from the statue
where it is present.

Once you collect all the stones, SAVE. Go to the marble altar (down and left
from Darm's Shop), and save again. Have all your stones handy. Start with the
sunstone. If a gem twinkles when placed on a plate, it is the correct stone,
and you should save. If it burns, as in a flame is shown, load from your last
save at the altar, as you might need that stone. I have found that, most often,
the ruby is the last stone, while I have seen no pattern among the center two.
When you finally get the right combination, you will receive the magic flute.

STONES TO TAKE WITH YOU IF NOT USED: Sapphire, Topaz, and a Garnet or Ruby.

6. Travel right, down, right, down, down, right and right. In this winding
path, you will pass the statue, the Kyrandian tree, the magic well, the
Deadwood Forest and several screens of forest. You should end up in front of
the cavern enterance shaped like a dragon's face. Attempt to walk inside, and
you will immediately walk back out, followed by Malcolm, who is juggling
daggers.

7. You and Malcolm will talk for some time, and insult each other accordingly.
It may seem boring, but you must pay attention, as, at one point, Malcolm will
throw his daggers at you, and you have to immediately click them to throw them
back. You should be ready to move right after Malcolm says "I do not miss...but
at will." If you aren't quick, he'll hit you with a blast of ice, killing you.
If you return the daggers, he will catch them, and begin juggling again, while
walking back into his cave. As he leaves, he will block your enterance into the
cave by making a sheet of ice across the opening. You can shatter it with your
new toy, the magic flute. Amazingly, Darm was able to predict that you would
need the flute for this reason, as you never use it again after this point, and
he specifically told you that you'd need it to finish your quest. A humorous
discovery, anyways.

8. Blow your flute, and crack the ice. Enter, and save. You are about to enter
an extremely complex labyrinth. As you are now finishing section 2, I would
suggest creating a new save state now as well.

SHORT MOVES:

1. Visit Darm. Get Walnut, Acorn and Pine Cone. Put in Deadwood Forest Hole.
Get Curing Spell.
2. Cure Cardinal and get Quill. Give Darm Quill. Get Winter Scroll.
3. Get Sunstone, Ruby and Other Gems. Solve Puzzle of the Marble Altar and Get
the Magic Flute.
4. Meet Malcolm and Return Daggers. Break Ice and Enter Cavern.

==============================
C. Labyrinth on Fire (1.80)
==============================

CURRENT INVENTORY: Tulip, Sapphire, Garnet or Ruby, Topaz, Scroll of Winter,
Apple.
OPTIONAL INVENTORY: Other Gems, Magical Flute

1. Enter the cavern, and go to the right. You will be in a room with a bush
full of Fireberries. Just look at them for now. Fireberries behave as follows.

FIREBERRY PROPERTIES: Fireberries are used to light rooms. This entire
labyrinth, but rooms with fireberry bushes or scenery, is entirely dark. If you
enter a dark room, you automatically are attacked and die. Using fireberry
bushes, you can survive.

Fireberries last for three room changes. Everytime you move one screen, their
power grows weaker. A useful strategy for using them is to take three from each
bush you pass, and leave one in each room that is unlit, as you pass by it. The
labyrinth has made, to fit in this fireberry lifespan, a fireberry bush every
fourth sceen (three screens and three fireberries between each bush), so you
can, if you move in the right direction, make your way through the labyrinth
alive.

2. Go right from this fireberry bush, and trip the trap. Now, empty your
inventory onto the floor (so you are carrying nothing), and prepare to venture
into the cavern.

YOUR GOAL IN THE LABYRINTH: First off, you have to find the 5 stones along the
path in the labyrinth. You will use them to throw onto the pulley in the
background chasm of the trap you just tripped, and open the gate. Secondly, you
need to find two items (there are emeralds in this cave, but they serve no
purpose in the game, and should be left alone to conserve inventory space),
along with your three fireberries and five rocks (which leaves two inventory
spots for these items!). You will need to find a key (which you cannot find
your first trip through), and a special coin.

3. I shall take you through the cavern from fireberry bush to fireberry bush.
There is a very good map for this section, if you find this explanation
confusing, under other "Legend of Kyrandia" FAQs. Here are your directions:

~~~~~~~~~~
LABYRINTH DIRECTIONS
~~~~~~~~~~
1. Go right (to Fireberry Bush) and take three.
2. Go up. Drop Fireberry.
3. Go right. Drop Fireberry.
4. Go down. Drop Fireberry.

5. Go down (to Fireberry Bush) and take three.
6. Go right. Drop Fireberry.
7. Go up. Drop Fireberry. TAKE ROCK.
8. Go up. Drop Fireberry.

9. Go right (to Fireberry Bush) and take three.
10. Go right. Drop Fireberry.
11. Go up. Drop Fireberry.
12. Go right. Talk to Will-O-Wisps. (WILL-O-WISP ROOM)

13. Go right (to Fireberry Bush) and take three.
14. Go down. Drop Fireberry. TAKE ROCK.
15. Go down. Drop Fireberry.
16. Go left. Drop Fireberry.

17. Go down (to Fireberry Bush) and take two.
18. Go down. Drop Fireberry.
19. Go down. Drop Fireberry.
20. Go right. TAKE ROCK. TAKE COIN. (MOONLIGHT BAY CAVE)

21. Go right (to Fireberry Bush) and take three.
22. Go right. Drop Fireberry.
23. Go up. Drop Fireberry.
24. Go left. Drop Fireberry.

29. Go down (to Fireberry Bush) and take two.
30. Go right. Drop Fireberry.
31. Go up. (EMERALD CAVERN)
32. Go up. Drop Fireberry.

33. Go right (to Fireberry Bush) and take two.
34. Go right. Drop Fireberry.
35. Go up. Drop Fireberry. TAKE ROCK.
~~~~~~~~~~
You have reached the end of labyrinth, but it is not the exit. You have all
five stones and the coin you need, but you now need to return to the enterance.
To return to enterance and its trap, go (here is why you dropped the
fireberries, as they stay lit throughout the rest of the game):
Down, left, left, down (INTO THE EMERALD CAVERN), left, left, left, down, down,
right, down, left, left (INTO THE MOONLIGHT BAY CAVE), left, up, up, up, right,
up, up, left (INTO THE WILL-O-WISP ROOM), left, down, left, left, down, left,
up, left, down, and left into the enterance.
NOTE: That does not follow the same exact path as used to reach the end of the
labyrinth, as some paths were connected and adjacent, but, to have enough
fireberries, one had to travel the longer way. However, with all the
fireberries already laid out, you can return to the enterance as quickly as
possible.
4. Throw your five stones onto the balance above the chasm in the gated trap
enterance room. You'll miss one shot (Brandon tries to be cool and covers his
eyes to shoot, and misses), but you only need to make four. Once the gate
lifts, go left, and leave, for now. But don't forget to pick up your inventory
again (it should be somewhere near on the floor).
5. Exit the cavern entirely. From the outside enterance, go left, up, left and
then up again. You should be in front of the magic well. Drop the coin you
found in the Moonlight Bay Cave into the well. You should get the moonstone (be
forewarned, you can drop anything in the well. Don't lose anything important).
6. Return to the labyrinth (down, right, down right), and go back to the
Will-O-Wisp Room (from the trap room, right, up, right, down, right, up, right,
right, up, and right). Place your new moonstone in the black hole in the center
pedestal, and the Will-O-Wisps will join you, adding a second spell to your
amulet, the purple gem on the bottom, that allows you to turn into a
Will-O-Wisp
WILL-O-WISP POWERS: You can float over things that have no ground, can travel
in cavern rooms indefinitely (you light your own room, so cannot be hurt by the
beings that lurk in the dark). Using this spell, you can retrieve your next
item, the key, which is hidden in the Labyrinth.
7. To get to the key, go to the Moonlight Bay Cave, which is, from the
Will-O-Wisp room, right, down, down, left, down, down, down, right. Turn into a
Will-O-Wisp here. Then, go right, right, right, up, right, down, right, and
stop. You should be in a room of churning lava.
8. Use your Scroll of Winter to cool the lava (you will use the scroll again
later - don't discard it here!), and cross. The next room contains both a
fireberry bush and the key. Go back into the now icy room, turn into a
Will-O-Wisp, and return to the Moonlight Bay Cave (left, up, left, down, left,
left, and left), then to the Will-O-Wisp Room (left, up, up, up, right, up, up,
left), and to the enterance (left, down, left, left, down, left, up, left,
down, left).
9. Make sure you have all the inventory you dropped before. You need a
Sapphire, Topaz, Ruby or Garnet, a Tulip and an Apple at this moment. If you
have it all, go right, up and up, into the long chasm. Turn into a Will-O-Wisp
to fly across the chasm, and then exit the Labyrinth on the right.
NOTE: If you choose to reach for the apple just outside the exit to the
Labyrinth, be extremely careful, or save first. The game has trouble
distinguishing between clicking the apple, and click the entrance to the cave.
If you are not careful, you might end up re-entering the cavern, and dying in
the dark room you just came from.
10. Save under a new file, and get ready for your next section!
SHORT MOVES:
1. Enter Cavern. Use Fireberries and Travel Through Labyrinth. Get 5 Rocks and
Coin.
2. Use Rocks to Escape. Get Moonstone out of Well by Dropping in Coin.
3. Place Moonstone in Will-O-Wisp Pedestal. Get Transformation Spell.
4. Get Iron Key By Freezing River of Fire.
5. Cross Chasm at Labyrinth Enterance, and Exit.
==============================
D. The Many Fateful Potions (1.81)
==============================
CURRENT INVENTORY: Sapphire, Topaz, Ruby or Garnet, Scroll of Winter, Apple
(Only 1 Needed)
1. Go right from the cave exit, and right again. You'll be hit on top of the
head by a falling branch, and black out. When you wake up, your in Zanthia's
cabin (Also from Kallak's original letter, like Darm). She is washing clothes.
She'll say that Brandon is a prince, but nothing more. Go try to get her water
(left, left and another left), and you'll meet Malcom. He takes one of the
crystal balls, breaking the magical spell keeping the fountain full of water.
You will have to find the fountain head to fix the fountain.
NOTE: I would recommend placing all your gems and flowers on the floor of
Zanthia's Cabin. They don't need to go anywhere but here, and you'll want to
keep your inventory as empty as possible.
2. From the now dry and desolate fountain, go left, left, down, down, left, up,
and up. You should see a flame on the left. Using your Scroll of Winter, put
out the flames. Take the crystal ball, and leave.
NOTE: You can leave your Scroll of Winter here. You don't need it anymore.
3. Go down, down, right, up, up, right and right, back to the fountain. Attach
the crystal ball to its appropriate spot. The fountain should fix itself. Using
your flask, get some fountain water. Now, drink it. Your blue spell on your
amulet should light up. Get some more fountain water in the flask, and go
right, right and right, back to Zanthia's Cabin. Give her the fountain water,
and listen to her explain about Brandon's heredity. Once their done, go get the
blueberries she asks for.
4. Go left, left and left to the fountain. Then, go left, left, down, down,
left, up, left, left, left, and up. Grab some blueberries, and then go down,
right, right, right, down, right, up, up, right, right, right, right and right.
Whew...what a trek. You are back in Zanthia's cabin, but she's gone! Leave the
blueberries on the floor, and examine the ruffled carpet in the bottom right
corner. Open the trap door, and go down, and into the area behind Zanthia's
Cabin.
5. From behind the Cabin, go right, up, up, right, right, and up. From the
beach, grab one of the red orchids. Go back to Zanthia's cabin, going down,
left, left, down, down, left, and click the square patch of grass. Now it is
time to start mixing potions.
6. Take the flask off the floor, and put it in your inventory. Leave the cabin
and re-enter. A second flask should be where the first was. Leave again, and
re-enter. Take a third flask. Do this one more so you have a total of four
flasks. Now, get your plants and gems ready.
POTION MIXING: Two potion shave an upcoming role in your quest. You can make
red potion, by mixing the red orchid and your garnet or ruby, blue potion by
mixing your sapphire and your blueberries, and yellow potion by mixing your
topaz and your tulip.
You will need TWO FLASKS of RED POTION, ONE FLASK of BLUE POTION, and ONE FLASK
of YELLOW POTION. You mix the plant with the gem in Zanthia's laundry pot. Be
sure to mix both together, and not just the plant alone, or just the gem. Get
these four potions and bottle them, and put them in your inventory.
NOTE: If you mess up and mix the wrong things, you need to find the gem and
flower of the lost color again. This can be tedious, as gems can be anywhere,
and flowers, like the tulip, are a long ways back.
NOTE: You may drink these potions, but be sure to refill, and know they don't
affect you at all. What you do next will turn them into potions that will do
something.
7. Go back down the trapdoor. From the trap door exit, go down, down, left,
down, down, right, and up. You will find yourself by the Crystals of Alchemy.
Now you will mix potions. You will make:
Red Potion and Yellow Potion make ORANGE POTION
Blue Potion and Red Potion make PURPLE POTION
The Yellow and Blue Potion, if made, is Green Potion, but is basic poison. So,
you don't want that.
Place the two potions to be mixed on either of the two crystals (one on each
side) and let mix. Place the resulting potions in your inventory, and go back
to Zanthia's Cabin by going down, left, up, up, right, up, and up.
8. From the Cabin, go left, left, left, down and left. You will find yourself
next to the Royal Chalice, which is floating. Using your blue amulet gem,
nullify the levitation spell. When the small faun nabs it as the chalice falls,
chase him to the right. His home is right there, within reach, but you're too
big. Drink the PURPLE POTION to shrink down to a small enough size (Be sure to
have an apple in your inventory!)
9. Inside, the small faun says he wont return the chalice unless he gets
something in return. Give him your apple, and he'll return the chalice, which
is outside at the top of a nearby pine tree. Grab it, and go back to Zanthia's
cottage (up, right, right and right).
10. Your Inventory should be the Orange Potion, The Iron Key and the Royal
Chalice. Drop everything else, and go through the trap door. Go, from the trap
door exit, up, up, right, right, right, and up again. Grab an orchid at the
beach. Stand on the beach landing, and drink the orange potion. You will turn
into a flying horse (Pegasus), and fly across the sea, to the castle where
Malcolm is residing - the Royal Castle.
NOTE: Do NOT try to Will-O-Wisp across. A monster will leap out of the ocean
and eat you.
11. Save, and create a new save file name. YOU CANNOT RETURN FROM THIS ISLAND,
so, if you forgot something, you're dead. Be careful.
SHORT MOVES:
1. Get hit by branch. Get water for Zanthia, using Scroll of Winter to save
Crystal Ball. Drink Fountain Water.
2. Get Blueberries. Explore Through Trapdoor. Get Orchid.
3. Make Red, Yellow and Blue Potions. Mix to Make Orange and Purple Potions.
4. Get Chalice Using Blue Spell, Purple Potion and Apple. Get Another Orchid
5. Use Orange Potion to Fly Across Sea to Castle's Island.
==============================
E. Into the Mist (1.82
==============================
CURRENT INVENTORY: Royal Chalice, Iron Key, Orchid
OPTIONAL INVENTORY: None. Get rid of it all.
NOTE: You are nearing the end of the game, and everything is going to try to
kill you. Save often, and be cautious.
1. Walk along the path to the right side of the screen. Be careful. It is very
easy to walk right off. You will be faced with a password cue on the second
page. Get out your guidebook again, and fill in the answer.
2. Examine the grave. It is of Brandon's parents. Place your orchid on the
grave, and the ghost of his mother will appear. She will bless Brandon, and
give him his last spell, the red amulet gem of invisibility.
3. Once finished with Brandon's mother, the queen, go right. You will be on a
high cliff with no logical direction to walk. Move your cursor to the gate,
until it turns from a normal pointer to a right screen pointer. This will let
you walk to the gate.
4. DO NOT APPROACH THE GATE. This is your first instance where you need to use
your invisibility gem. Press the red amulet button, and then use your iron key
to unlock the gate. Enter the castle, and save under a new file. This section
is over.
SHORT MOVES:
1. Land and walk carefully. Put orchid on grave. Get Invisibility.
2. Travel to Gate. Use Invisibility. Unlock Gate.
3. Enter Final Zone.
==============================
F.  The Final Fight (1.83)
==============================
CURRENT INVENTORY: Royal Chalice
OPTIONAL INVENTORY: None.
1. You enter and meet Malcolm again, one of the last chipper conversations you
will have with him. He invites you to explore his home, and disappears. You'll
see some friendly faces here, so be prepared. Your goal is as follows:
MALCOLM'S CASTLE GOALS:
-Find the CROWN and the SCEPTER.
-Find the two KEYS to unlock the main door.
2. Once you and Malcolm stop talking, go left, and up twice, until you enter
the room with the disturbing fireplace. The crown is on the reverse side. To
reverse the fireplace, you have to pull out certain books in order. The letters
Brandon says when pulling them should spell "OPEN". If you make a mistake, and
annoying high pitched tone will sound as well, not alarming anyone to come hurt
you, but just to give you a headache.
The books to spell open are found at:
O : Right bookshelf, bottom row, right side.
P: Left bookshelf, top row, left side.
E: Left bookshelf, bottom row, left side.
N: Left bookshelf, bottom row, right side.
Now, go grab the crown, which is in the fireplace. Two royal items down, one to
go.
3. Step closer to the fireplace, and it will spin you behind it. Go left, left,
up, left, up, up, and right. Your way will be blocked by a force shield. Use
your blue amulet gem of spell nullification to destroy the shield. When done,
go up, and left. In the upper right area of the floor, a piece looks irregular.
Click it, and, when moved, grab the key underneath. Go right, down, left, down,
down, right, down, right, right, and down to exit the secret passageway with
you new key.
4. Go to the right of the fireplace room, into the main dining area (the large
central room). Go directly across, to the right side door parallel with the
door you just exited (it should be the door on that side closest to the top of
your screen, in perspective). You will enter the kitchen. On the right side of
the kitchen, there are two utensils hanging. A soup ladel, and a poker. The
poker is actually the Royal Scepter. Grab it, and leave. Go down, and back
towards the enterance hall, for the staircase.
5. Go upstairs, and to the right and up . Try to enter the room on the left,
but you will be stopped by a very green Herman. Don't attempt to go near him,
he has been put under an evil spell and will cut you in half. Instead, use your
cure spell on your amulet. It will send Herman to sleep. Sneak past him into
the room.
USELESS ITEMS: The hourglass in the next room has no use.
There are two other useless items, a FISH in Brynn's room and a HAIRPIN in
Zanthia's. The fish can be eaten.
6.  You see a set of bells and a hammer. You have to play a certain song. How
to know what to play is a guess, logic has it that you would eventually play
them in the correct order. You must play them in (if the upper left bell is 1,
and, going from upper left to bottom right, the bottom right bell is 4) this
order:
4 _ 1 _ 2 _ 3
The painting in the back will then move, and your final key will be shown. Grab
it, and leave the room to the right.
7. There are two other rooms, but they have nothing to do with our quest, as we
have all the necessary items right now to beat Malcolm. Take them out of the
room, down, right, down the stairs, and left, back into the large room. Unlock
the far doors with your two keys, and you will find yourself in the room just
before the Kyra-Gem chamber.
8. You must put the three Royal Pieces (Crown, Scepter and Chalice) in the
correct order on the pillows to continue. The order is:
SCEPTER - CROWN - CHALICE
9. The door to the Kyra-Gem chamber will open, and Brandon will attempt to
enter. However, Malcolm will appear and block his enterance, still jovial as
ever. He'll tell you you can't enter, and push you a couple times. Finally
engulfed with anger, Brandon will punch him in the nose, and send him flying
against the wall, unconcious. Unfortunately, after you enter the Kyra-Gem
chamber, he'll wake up. Go fast.
10. Enter the chamber, and turn invisible. Walk over to directly in front of
the mirror on the right side of the room (don't click on the mirror, click on
the wall area directly below it). In your invisible state, Malcolm can still
see you - and boy is he mad!
11. Just sit still, and Malcolm will throw up a petrifying magic ball, and
shoot it at you. But, in your invisible state, and, being next to the mirror,
it doesn't hit you and flies straight back to hit him. He is petrified
completely, and the world is saved! Congratulations! You just beat the game!
SHORT MOVES:
1. Go to Library. Take "O""P""E" and "N" books. Take Crown. Sneak Behind
Fireplace, Use Blue Spell, Get Key.
2. Go to Kitchen. Get Scepter. Go Upstairs to Music Room on Left Side. Use Cure
Spell on Herman.
3. Play Bells 4, 1, 2, 3. Get Key. Return to Main Hallway. Unlock Large Doors.
4. Place, in this order, Scepter, Crown and Chalice on Pillows. Open Kyra-Gem
and Punch Malcolm.
5. Turn Invisible and Stand in Front of Mirror. Let Malcolm Petrify Himself.
You've won!
NOTE: For a summary of what happens after you stone Malcolm, read the "Summary
& Comments" section below.
===============================================
6. Summary & Comments (1.84)
===============================================
The game begins with Brandon setting out to save the land, a quest bestowed
upon him by the land, and also, to save his grandfather. He learns of the
Amulet, and, with the help of his sister, Brynn, finds it. However, she
disappears directly after it is discovered, and can no longer help Brandon in
his quest.
Brandon crosses a bridge (with some trouble) and visits Darm and Brandywine.
Bringing him a requested quill, after getting his first amulet spell, Brandon
receives advice and a magic scroll. He finds his birthstones and solves the
puzzle of the marble altar. Moving on the Labyrinth, he faces Malcolm for the
first time, and survives.
Finding his way into the Labyrinth, Brandon is trapped. He winds his way
through the maze, collecting items and rocks. Finally escaping, he solves the
puzzle of the Will-O-Wisps, getting himself a second spell. He grabs the iron
key in the back of the Labyrinth, and hurriedly exits the caverns.
Brandon is knocked down soon after his arrival in this new land by a fallen
tree branch. Meeting Zanthia, he learns that he is a prince. However, after
getting his third spell by fixing the fountain, he goes out to find a special
plant for Zanthia, and returns to find her gone. Exploring the area behind her
Cabin, now open to him, Brandon makes several mixed potions, uses his blue
spell to nab the Royal Chalice (with the help of an Apple and a the Purple
potion to appease a thief), and then grabs and orchid and sets off for the
Castle, using his orange potion to fly across the sea.
Brandon lands, and visits the grave of his mother. Placing an orchid on the
grave, her figure appears, and blesses him with his final amulet spell, that of
invisibility. Using the new spell, Brandon sneaks past the Castle's gate guards
and inside. Meeting Malcolm inside, Brandon is told he is welcome to explore
the castle. He solves the library puzzle and gets the Royal Crown, nabs his
first key from behind the fireplace, gets the Royal Scepter in the kitchen, and
solves the puzzle of the Bells to get the last key. Using the two keys, he
enters the room before the Kyra-gem chamber.
Ordering the Royal Objects on their pillows (Scepter, Crown, Chalice), the
Kyra-gem opens, and Brandon tries to go in. He is stopped by Malcolm, who,
after pushing Brandon several times, leads our hero to punch him out. Running
into the room, Brandon finds it dark and grim, decorated with pictures of the
evil Jester. Brandon turns invisible, and runs in front of a mirror just as
Malcolm enters and shoots a spell at him. The spell bounces through Brandon's
invisible self, off the mirror, and back to Malcolm, who is turned to stone.
The Kyragem flares from its previous deep red to a bright yellow. Brandon
leaves as a bird knocks over Malcolms now frozen figure of terror. We shoot
back to Kallak, who is now unpetrified, and Brandon enters. Declaring the new
official footwear of the land sandals, and very happy to be a prince, Brandon
is thanked by the land for saving it.
AN EXPLANATION:
Kallak, Brynn, Darm and Zanthia all belonged to a group called the Mystics,
which Kallak currently or previously led. They were magicians who had
imprisoned Malcolm for earlier evil deeds. As he escaped, he went after each,
first stoning Kallak, their leader, then, as seen in her disappearance when you
got the Amulet, Brynn disappears as well. Though you never return to find an
empty shop, around the time when you finished the Labyrinth, Darm was petrified
and taken from his home as well. Zanthia, while you searched for blueberries
(you knew Malcolm was near, you saw him at the fountain), was kidnapped as
well. When you petrified Malcolm, his spells became nullified and all your
friends were no longer made of stone.
