Greetings, and welcome to yet another of my FAQs! This one deals with a vast
and interesting RPG, Morrowind!
Have you been tromping across the island, randomly Soultrapping creatures
and taking what you can get? Unhappy with the results? Or maybe you're
looking to make your Soul Gems stretch out more efficiently, or want to
learn which creatures are best for each Soul Gem.
Either way, this FAQ is what every adventurer in Morrowind needs... a
comprehensive list of every creature on the island with their Soul value,
as well as what their soul will fetch on the market, depending on which
Gem you've captured it in.
It's a pretty long list, and I've tried to make it as readable as possible,
but there's a limit to how much information you can plug into a list before
one's eyes begin to bug out.
By the way. IMPORTANT! The value you see may not be the amount you get!
If you sell the soul gem to most merchants, the value will vary, depending
on your -Mercantile- skill, your -Personality-, and the NPC's -Disposition-.
Unless you have uber-high Mercantile/Personality, I suggest you find
Creeper or the Drunken Mudcrab Merchant and sell your Soul Gems to them.
(And before you think about it, NO, do not ask me where to find Creeper or
the Mudcrab Merchant!)
This FAQ only includes the creatures that came with Morrowind. It does NOT
include creatures from any custom Plugins. I may update this list with
Official Plugin data later.
This FAQ was created using data from Morrowind/Tribunal v1.3.1029 for the
PC, but the information should be accurate for the X-Box version as well...
However, it should be noted that the PC version can change, and thus my FAQ
may be updated to reflect those changes. I don't have an X-Box, so I can't
say what is different...so if you are playing the X-Box version and find
something in my FAQ that is different...then it's not my fault!

First, let's start out by pointing out the base values of each Soul Gem, as
well as what I estimate their capacities are (which is 3x Gp Value).
Petty Soul Gem: 10 Gp 30 EP/Soul
Lesser Soul Gem: 20 Gp 60 EP/Soul
Common Soul Gem: 40 Gp 120 EP/Soul
Greater Soul Gem: 60 Gp 180 EP/Soul
Grand Soul Gem: 200 Gp 600 EP/Soul
Azura's Star: 5000 Gp 15000 EP/Soul
According to my observations (which may be inaccurate), Morrowind uses the
following calculation to determine the value of the Soul Gem:
(Gem Value) * (Soul) = (Trapped Soul Value)
And now that we have those two bits of information, we can get to the meat
and potatoes of this FAQ... A comprehensive list of the creatures of
Morrowind and their values for each Soul Gem type!
Using this list, you can decide which enemies should be the ones you put in
your gems, whether it's for money-making or for enchanting.

However, that was merely the creatures common to Morrowind. Each Unique
creature also has a Soul rating, and can be captured (in most cases...)
Note that if a creature has a Soul of 0, then the spell "Soultrap" will
always fail. This includes Centurion creatures (who don't have souls) and a
few listed below (who are immune).

Some notes about the above:
Dagoth X refers to any creature with "Dagoth" before it, except for
Dagoth Ganel, Gares, Mulyn, and Velos, who are Level 14 Ash Ghouls, and
of course Dagoth Ur, who can't be soultrapped (not that you'd want to...).
There is a HUGE list of Dagoth names. Except for the five mentioned above,
if they are an Ash Ghoul, they have 300 EP. If they are an Ascended Sleeper,
they have 330 EP. If they are an Ash Vampire, they have 360 EP.
Vivec and Almalexia cannot be captured by a Grand Soul Gem. You're going to
need something stronger if you decide to go god-killing... And no, I'm not
going to tell you what it is or where to find it. :P So don't ask. It's
not that hard...
With the above list, a person might feel inclined to create a new sort of
collection... a Collection of Souls! :D *creepy music plays*

Finishing notes
The calculations I've provided above (Gem Capacity and Gem Value) are
OBSERVATIONS! I might be wrong...but the system seems to work as far as what
souls are available. I didn't really test it out, though... for example, I
didn't create a monster with a Soul of 31 to see if it would fit in a Petty
Soul Gem. If anyone decides to do such tests, please inform me if my
calculations are incorrect.
