===============================================================================
01.) INTRODUCTION G0100
===============================================================================
Welcome to Star Trek: Borg for the PC, an interactive movie by Simon & Schuster
released in 1996.
Suggestions, comments or errors - e-mail me about it. Enjoy!
===============================================================================
02.) BASICS G0200
===============================================================================
Star Trek: Borg plays in the TNG universe with our good friend 'Q'. He takes
you back in time to the U.S.S. Righteous that is right in the middle of battle
against the Borg at Wolf 359. Released in 1996 and filmed on the 'Voyager'
sets, the game takes you through a lot of familiar scenarios on a starship.
You control the game with the mouse alone. When there is a decision to be made
a Borg cube icon will appear. Click on the desired object to interact with it,
although it isn't always obvious what the object may be.
At any time during the movie, you can single left click to pause it and use
the tricorder to examine anything in view. When the tricorder stops spinning
over an object or person you will know it has some information to read up on.
The tricorder will display that info with a voice over by 'Q'. This will often
teach you how to use consoles and other interactive elements. When ready,
double left click to restart the movie. Note: You cannot do this during the
introduction of the game, as you obviously do not have the special
tricorder yet.
Many times there will be decisions to be made that alter the story. The
downside is that only one decision is ever correct. Therefore all other
choices will lead to certain doom. Don't worry because you will know straight
away if that happens. You practically cannot die in the game so if you choose
a wrong option it will later reset you to that decision point in order to try
again. But don't be surprised to see the GAME OVER screen once in a while.
Press the 'Q' keyboard button to quit the game. Before you leave, however, the
game will ask whether you want to save the game or not. '1' is yes and '0' is
no in case you need assistance. Enter the name of the savegame should you
choose to save. It asks you under which name to save, without any choices. If
you want to overwrite the previous one then you need to have remembered it.
The game asks you if you wish to overwrite the old savegame, however.Once a
savegame is available, the game will not show the introduction the next time
you launch the game. Instead a small menu will pop up at the bottom of the
screen, asking if you want to resume, start a new game or quit. Again, you
cannot save until you get on the Righteous. Because there are a few instances
that you get the GAME OVER screen I suggest you save once in a while. It is so
easy to load up the game again and press 'resume' you will hardly notice it
was shut down.
===============================================================================

XX.) FAQ GXX00
===============================================================================
Q: Is this the only game like it?
A: There are quite a few interactive games released around the same time when
its popularity was at its peak. A lof them can be found on the 3DO but also
on the PC. A sibling game called 'Star Trek Klingon' also exists which you
may want to check out.
Q: Are there multiple endings?
A: There are a lot of bad endings if you consider those real ones. However,
there is only one real satisfying end to the game.
