This Faq is mainly aimed at the build order that is the most efficient for each
mission, as well as a heads up to the new objectives that sometimes appear in
the mission and the overall map situation. All build orders were tested at
least 2 times on hard difficulty (I left the AI handicap in the default
middle), if not more, so they should work.
I put the relative difficulty of the missions. Actually the game is overall
pretty easy, but some missions are harder than others, so I put hard as a
description.
Overall notes:
A dilithium mining station needs three ships to operate at full efficiency, if
the station is next to the moon. This should always be optimized, ASAP.
For Borg metal mining two freighters is good enough.
For defense, I usually use only starbases. Not only are they better at defense
than cannons and turrets, but they also give crew and regenerate faster their
shields. Sometimes a torpedo turret can be good enough if not in real danger,
or if you need the range. The AI knows when something is not defended, so there
should always be something to defend moons, planets and latinum nebulas.
Federation Campaign
F1 Invasion
Difficulty: Medium
Build one metal platform and a dilithium mining stations, twice, and build
metal stations on the other two planets, and build starbase as soon as you can.
Use the battleships to defend while the starbases are being built.
Metal is what will stop you mostly. The Borgs attack everywhere and they have
better ships, so defense is important. Each planet needs a starbase, and there
are four planets that are free. Two dilithium and eventually a third one should
be enough.
Once it is done, build the research facility, colony ship and then 16 Akiras
and attack the base on the lower right corner. It is not too well defended, and
you can get an extra planet.
There are two Nexus, one each of the upper corner. 32 Akiras can do the trick.
The left base is not very well defended. Rebuild the Akiras you loose, and go
to the right. There is a planet that needs to be destroyed with your
battleships also.
Note: If you capture a Borg mining station, it will show you all the other
structures the Borg have. It is something special in this mission.
F2 Lifelines
Difficulty: Medium
You get a new ship, the Streamrunner that has a long range to take out turrets.
I don't use them because they cost too much metal, are slow and too easy to
loose. Metal is what will take more time to gather. You will sell a lot of
latinium for metal, to go faster. It is the only use of latinum for the
Federation.
The fastest way is to build five dilithium freighters and send them to gather
the two moons next to the base. The dilithium station cannot handle more than
that. Send the construction ship South and build a starbase East, a bit to the
North to the latinium nebula, so it can intercept Borgs coming to your base.
Build another construction ship and two freighters and send them South of the
nebula, to the other planet there. Build another dilithium station there next
to the moon North of that planet. Don't go East of the planet as a plama turret
will attack you. Build three other freighters to gather latinium.
The new starbase should be finished by now, and the new dilithium mining
station ready to be built and have 350 crew members. So cue 5 other freighters
for latinium.
Once you have 400 dilithium, build an orbital mining station to the planet
South and send that constructor back to your base once it is finished to build
an orbital ming station station North.
Send the constructor that built the new starbase South East and build an
orbital mining station and a starbase in that order. You will have to wait a
little for the starbase. Recrew both new starbases, but only with about 700
members each, as you cannot afford the crew.
Once you can, build a science station and a shipyard, and start one colony ship
to send South and another South East to colonize those two planets. This should
be enough economy to get you easily to the end of the game. Once this is done,
I usually send a constructor South, as sometimes the orbiting station will get
destroyed.
Then build many Akiras. Once you have at least 16, go East slowly, destroying
all the defenses you encounter. Go slowly and retreat if there are ennemy
ships, as it is better that your starbases take care of them if possible. Cubes
are especially dangerous. Stop where there is a little passage and a black hole
where you cannot warp. I would build 32 Akiras before crossing. But you can
stop Borg ships that may try to cross. Build 9 cargo ships while waiting.
Once you are ready to cross, send a constructor as well to the other side to
build a shipyard. Load your cargo ships with dilithium, metal and latinium,
three of each and send them to the other trading post. No need to send them at
the same time, as they take awhile to unload.
Your Akiras should be in the area of your allies at this point. Keep building
Akiras up to 48 from the new shipyard. Clear the Borgs North that may be there
(just a few ships), and then defend the entrance (East of the Black hole, but
in clear space) that goes towards your base, to protect the cargo ships. I also
build a few energy cannons South of the allied trading station.
Once the cargos are almost finished, the Borgs will try to destroy the trading
station, from the South with a few cubes and some other ships. You need enough
firepower to stop them fast. 48 Akiras and a few energy cannons can do just
that.
F3 Recovery
The only new interesting technology is the one for your Akiras, which will
again be your main ships. Aside from the start that needs to be done quickly,
the mission is very easy.
Difficulty: Easy
Start by creating a control group for the Enterprise and the Galaxy ship and
send them to the Science station that is attacked by a Borg Interceptor. A cube
will attack your starbase, but will be dealt with automatically. Make a control
group for each of the Iowa class ships. The fastest you can, get derelict ships
with each Iowa by sending 5 crewmen and send the Iowa to a new target.
Decommission the Defiant class, but repair the others. Decommission the Iowa
once you are done.
Build three dilithium freighters and a constructor and send them to the West
dilithium moon and build a starbase there. Build two colony ships and colonize
the planet to the West and the one in the North East. Recrew the shipyard and
decommission the research facility. Once the starbase is done, build a research
facility and a science station next to your starbase. After that, you can build
an orbital mining station and then take some expansion if you want, but it is
not necessary.
The Borgs will get some free ships coming from the East, as well as two
constructors they will use to expand there. The constructors appear unguarded
next to the planet in the North East. YOu should send the Enterprise and Galaxy
vessels there as soon as the research station is safe. You need to destroy
those constructor ships, but let the Borg vessels attack your defenses. Some
will go to your base, and some others will attack your plasma turrets. If do
not want the turrets to be destroyed, send the Enterprise first with the
corbomite shield on against the cubes, and once it is targeted, send the other
ship. Otherwise, you will loose your battleships.
Once you have the derelicts, put the Galaxy class, Soevereign and Intrepid in a
group and send them South East to the Borg base and take out the energy cannon
and the Assembly matrix and dilithium facility. This will only leave the Nexus
in the corner of the map. This can be dealt with with the two Streamrunners and
the others four that you will build. Just make sure no Borg construction ship
does not get by. Decommission the Streamrunners once you are done with them.
The Borgs will receive a few more free waves at some point, so be on the look
out. Build a fleet of Akiras and research their technology for the final attack
when the Douglas appears. Use all your ships to destroy the cube and company
protecting it, lower the Douglas shields and beam people aboard.
F4 Along The Neutral Zone
Difficulty: Easy with the following build order.
You have to build pretty fast in this scenario, as well as save the Enterprise
from a Borg attack by three Cubes. The Borgs are fairly aggressive until the
Enterprise appears, so defense is important.
Start Building a dilithium mining station with constructor A and a starbase
with constructor B. Once the station is done use the constructor A and send it
to build another dilithium mining station to the planet on the East. Once
constructor B is done, build a research facililty and create 4 dilithium
freighters for the two mines, a constructor C and and two more for the latinium
nebula. Keep the Akira next to that nebula for protection. It will be attacked
once by a detector, and then you can decommisssion it. Build a starbase
constructor A, and a shipyard and advanced shipyward with constructor C, a
science station and Vulcan research station with constructor B. Don't recrew
the starbases until you have 4 Galaxy ships done.
Colonize the planet as soon as the shipyard is done, and start building 2
Galaxy ships when the advanced shipyard is done. Don't build any orbital
processing facilities until the Enterprise is repaired (they cost too much and
are hard to defend), but build a Trading station with constructor A as soon as
you can and buy metal(it can be done as soon as the starbase is finished).
As soon as you have two galaxy class ships, send them North to the planet with
the purple dilithium moon and destroy the two Assembler patrol and whatever
else is there and take out the dilithium station the Borg have built. You might
want to board it and decommission it, for extra metal. Repair your ships and
send them to take out the same type of patrol North of your first planet. Send
a colony ship to the new planets, and build a dilithium facility next to the
purple moon with constructor C, and then a starbase, North East of the moon (it
will help against the three Cubes). Send two freighter to mine the new moon
along with the constructor. This new mining facility has to be done quick, so
the freighters should be built and sent when your galaxy ships are being
built. Once they are done, build another 2 Galaxy ships.
Use the galaxy ships to secure the new facility until the starbase is built and
the other dilithium moon West of the purple Nebula, which the Borg will try to
secure. Build a plasma turret there when you can. Once this third starbase is
done, build another 12 Galaxy ships and post them near the plasma turret.
Research the tech from the Vulcan station in that order: Shields, Engine, Life
support, Weapons and Sensors. You want the first three before crossing the
nebulas to help the Enterprise. The first time it says the Enterprise is there,
it is not yet there, you have some more time, but you should prepare yourself,
because when it really appears, three cubes will come from the Borg base to
attack it. If you post your Galaxy in front of the nebula, and with the help of
the starbase defending the purple moon, you should be able to stop them. Build
a repair ship when it says so and send it through the nebulas once you have the
tech. No need to bring back the Enterprise or the repair ship, just repair the
Enterprise and stay there. Sometimes the repair ship does not make it through
the nebula, so make sure you save beforehand.
While this is done, send a scout to the wormhole North of the Neutral Zone. You
will need to go through the Neutral zone to reach it. The Borgs have their
dilithium moon undefended just North of the other side of the wormhole, and
their Nexus higher up. Don't cross the wormhole with the scout, just find it.
Once the Cubes are dealt with, send your ships through the wormhole and destroy
the Borg base. Once this is done, the turrets between your base and their base
will disappear, so you only need to find the ships that may be roaming around.
Some might be hiding in the purple nebula too. If that is the case, you have to
send ships in the nebula and patrol.
F5 Into the Breach
Difficulty: Medium
You start with a difficult to defend base under attack, and few resources,
especially metal and crew. But only the start is difficult.
Decommission all the ships except the Enterprise and the scouts and the repair
ship. Hide the scouts near the base on green alert. There are three freighters,
send them to gather dilithium. Build two colony ship and colonize two planets
to your North. Build an advanced shipyard. Decommission also the cargo
freighters and the trading station to the South, as well as the dilithium
mining station to the East of your starbase. Decommission the shipyward if it
is under attack. Build 6 freighters and gather latinium that you will sell for
metal. Build an orbital mining station.
The Borg will attack in force, especially with a Tactical Cube. You will need
to keep the Enterprise near your base to sustain that attack. Once this attack
is over, you will only deal with smaller attacks. Use the enterprise to help
the energy cannons if they are under attack and repair them. Sometimes the
Tactical Cube attacks from the North, in which case you might want to retreat
the dilithium freighters, but they can be rebuilt if need be. Once the attack,
expand to the dilithium moon to the North and build a starbase.
You can build Sovereign class ships, but Galaxy class will go a lot faster, as
you can build them as soon as the advanced shipyard is done. They also have a
better attack, but are less robust. Once you can, build a science station and a
Vulcan research facility to research tech. If you want to build Sovereign class
ships, get the Cordomite tech.
The Borg has a small base with a Matrix to your North West, but poorly
defended, with only a Cube or two and some ships. 6 Galaxy should be able to
take them on if you are careful and retreat ships that loose their shields. On
the East of the M class planet, there is a Borg mining facility with a cannon,
a turret and a Cube and some other ships. There is also a wormhole that goes to
the North of the map. West of that wormhole exit is the main Borg base, with a
Nexus and two Matrix, and to the East, there is the Gate you need to get. The
base can probably be destroyed with about 12 Galaxy ships. It is possible to
destroy the Matrix and defense without attacking the Nexus. Once you attack the
Gate, a Fusion Cube will appear unless you can get the Gate pretty fast, which
is hard to do without destroying it. It has 1000 crew. The best course of
action is probably to build 10 Iwo Jima ships to get it fast with some help
from the Galaxy to get the shields down and send crew. There are two plasma
turrets that leads to the Gate. Don't go further until you have the Iwo Jima
ready. The Gate itself is defended by an energy cannon and an Assembler.
F6 Inferno
Difficulty: Hard
In this mission, you cannot use Warp speed, so the mission takes quite awhile
to complete, and you need to advance slowly. There will be waves of Borg ship
that will appear a little everywhere, so the Transwarp Gate can be attacked
from any side.
There are two Borg bases, one to your North East and another to the West. They
happen to protect the only two planets you can mine for metal, and there are no
latinium nebulas.
On the plus side, there are a few purple dilithium moons and you will get three
waves of reinforcement from the Transwarp Gate.
The scenario starts with a few of your ships being attacked by two cubes. Help
them with your fleet. Once this is done, use your remaining ships to take
control of the Transwarp Gate. Lower their shields and tranport crew. Once this
is done, you will receive reinforcements and a few construction ships. There
will be three waves of reinforcement. Use the Repair ship to repair it.
The first thing to do is to get rid of the Borg base to the North East. If you
took out the two cubes, all they will have as defense is the starbase and a few
cannons. It might be a good idea not to destroy the starbase and take it over
instead.
Then you need to defend as best you can against all the Borgs roaming around.
You should build another starbase to the South of the dilithium mine and two or
three around the Transwarp Gate. A trading facility will also be required to
sell dilithium for metal, since this will be the hardest resource to get. It is
not possible to build two and trade, you won't make any latinum.
Once you have the static defense completed, send your Galaxy ships towards the
South West to clear the way (there is a torpedo turrent there) and send a
construction ship along. The target is the purple moon in the South East corner
of the map. You will need to build static defense there. A starbase and a
torpedo turret. Keep your ships there until this is done. Then send it back to
your main base to wait until the Borg stop receiving reinforcements.
Eventually, two Tactical Cubes and a few Cubes will appear to the right of the
mining planet. This is the tougher Borg threat. You will need your ships to
help the Starbase. But that is the last of the Borg reinforcements, so if you
cleared the Cubes up to now, there should not be any more on the map.
This should be all you need for construction. Do research on the Vulcan
research facility, build a lot a Galaxy class ships (they cost less metal than
the Sovereign) and invade in force the last Borg Base. 16 ships should be
enough. Send a contruction ship with them so that you can build an advanced
shipyward to the North of the Borg Planet, so you can repair and replace the
ships you loose. Otherwise, the ships will tend to go through the Red and
Yellow nebulas. There is another purple moon in the North East portion of the
map that you can take. A torpedo turret should be enough as a defense.
You might have to scout the map after that, since some Borg ships might be
hiding or stuck in a nebula.
F7 The Cavalry
Difficulty: Easy
You start with a Starbase and a construction ship. Build a dilithium station
and a mining station.
Build another construction ship and send it West to the two latinum Nebulas.
Send the Enterprise to protect, as there are often Borg attacks and patrol.
Keep your structures next to the Starbases for that reason. There are three
small derelict ships you can decommission.
You can expand to the dilithium moon to the North of your starting base and
build a Starbase there as well.
The next expansion is the Gas giant to the North West of your base. The Borg
will try to expand there and build a Nexus, so you want to build a mining
station there and a couple torpedo turrets that can reach to the North of the
planet.
In order to get to the derelict ship you need to save, you need to go through a
defense of three plasma cannons. You should try to destroy at least two of them
with the Enterprise, and then send the repair ship. It has to be done fairly
quickly since the Borg will send a Cube to destroy it. Hide the ship in a
Nebula so it is safe.
Once this is done, all you need is to get rid of the Borg in the sector. The
main base is in the North West, and there is an outpost to the North East, that
has only a Nexus and a few plasma cannons. A fleet of 16 Sovereign can do the
work easily.
F8 Data Retrieval
Difficulty: Medium
You start with a starbase, a dilithium station with some defensive structure
around it, with a good pile of metal. In this scenario, it will be the
dilithium that may be lacking to go faster.
Get the freighters near the dilithium moon to work.Send a construction ship
there and build a Starbase, because the defenses already there will not be
enough. Once this is done, you can build a Science station and a Vulcan
facility there.
Send other the construction ship West to the dilithium and metal moons there.
Build a starbase. and the two stations. Then send it to the North, through the
nebula to get that other dilithium moon there and build a starbase. Send the
data miner over there as well, and hide it in the purple nebula to the North.
Build another construction ship, and two freighters for the new moon, build a
mining station to the South of your base, an Advanced shipyard, a torpedo
turret next to the moond and then the Temporal Stasis portal near your Starbase.
You will need to build some Sovereign fairly quickly, at least 8 of them to
help against the Borg, as they will use those long range vessels against your
defensive structures. Placing a scout in the green nebula will help detect
those.
The entrance to the Borg base is to the North East of your starting base. It is
a small passage with two planets and the Borg have a Nexus there to protect it.
Once you have the Temporal portal done, send your ships to clear it out. Build
a Starbase to the North East of that passage, a little North of where the Borg
Nexus was. It will be useful later on as the Borgs will try to go through
there. A shipyward on the other side of the passage will make things easier as
well.
You can use your Sovereigns to get rid of the Borg dilithium moons, and build a
torpedo turret near each so they cannot rebuild. There is a moon to the North
of the passage. Another one a bit more to the North, behind the nebula, and
another one to the West.
The Borg Nexus is to the North West. The best way to get it is to use the
Temporal stasis and attack From the bottom and the top simultaneously. The top
to get rid of ships and destroy the shipyard there, the bottom to get rid of
the turrets and lower the shields of the Nexus. You have to be cautious not to
destroy it. Put your ships on Green alert once the shields are down. Then board
it when the stasis is over. It is not easy to do without destroying it, so save
before attempting. You should have 16 Sovereign for the bottom attack, and at
least 8 for the top one. Retreat the top one once the shipyard is destroyed, so
they do not attack the Nexus.
Once the data is gathered, the Borgs will attack only the data miner, so you
will need all your ships and temporal stasis until the ship is inside your part
of the map. They will send two waves. Three Assimilators (the most dangerous)
and then a Cube. Once the Data Miner has gone through the passage, there will
be a big wave of attackers that will try to go through the passage, so defend
it with ships. Taking the Nexus and protecting the data miner is what makes
this scenario a little harder, otherwise, it is fairly easy.
F9 Staging Grounds
Difficulty: Medium
The difficulty is to manage the ships. For some reason, the map is hard to
manage. Ships tend to act strangely, move for no reason or go too high or too
low. You also need to be cautious with your resources and quite patient.
You start with only a fleet. The game tells you to put your fleet on Green
alert, but I did not see a difference. What I do is send them to the upper left
corner of the map, and if a Borg goes there, just destroy them. You can scout a
little with the scout ship on Green alert. Go to the left and then to the
bottom and hide in the nebula there. You can also cross to the smaller nebula a
bit more to the right and spy on the Borg . But in any case, you simply have to
wait for your fleet to appear.
Once it does, send them to the North of the Western planet and then to the
dilithium moon. Make sure they do not go to the South, or they will be attacked
by the Borg. Do the same for the two construction ships.
Build a Starbase to the South of the latinum nebulas, and once you can, to the
right of that Starbase. The idea is to close the passage there and make use of
the Red and Yellow nebulas to help defend any Borg attack. They will not attack
in force from the East, so there is no need of defense there. Don't expand to
the gas giant to the right, as it will attract Borgs there.
Build a dilithium mining station on the North moon, and just build every
structure up to the Temporal stasis portal. You should have enough metal and
dilithium for that if you decommission your ships, except the Sovereigns. Don't
expand to the Western moon yet. Normally, the Borg won't attack you until you
go South of that moon. Use your other scout ship to monitor what is happening
to the West part of the map.
A lot of Borgs will go from the bottom left to the upper left and then
disappear. Make sure you are not in their way. Once they are done, a few
Species 8472 will appear and attack some of the Borgs and may destroy the
turret to the South of the moon. Once they are done, it is time for you to
attack.
Do some hit and runs with the Sovereign to clear out the turrets. The Borgs
will counter attack, so let them go against your defense and repair your ships.
If you are cautious, you should not loose any ships. After the area is fairly
clear, expand to the dilithium moon there, and build a mining station. You
probably won't have enough for a Starbase right away, so defend with your
ships. Once the Temporal portal is done, you can attack the West part of the
Borg base and get rid of the Assembly matrix and whatever ships they have. Once
this is done, they will not build any ships except maybe a few Cubes. The
Advanced Assembly Matrix is to the East of their base. You can take it out
fairly easily by going around from the North. Just take it easy and retreat
ships that are getting attacked by the turrets. Wait until the Temporal stasis
has recharged, and finish off the two Nexus and the few turrets they have.
Once you clear the Borg threat, you will need to send the Enterprise to where
you started. So make sure to keep it there. A big army of Borgs will appear to
the lower left and a huge army of Species 8472 will appear to the upper right
as well. So you want the Enterprise to be close to the extraction point.
F10 There and Back Again
Difficulty: Hard
This one is the hardest of the campaign. You don't have Warp drive, and the
Borgs will keep attacking from three sides. From the Gas Giant, they will come
from the North, South West and the South East. They also have a base to the
North, but it is very well defended. So there is no point in going there. All
you need is to sustain the attacks.
First send the construction ship to build a Starbase to the entrance North of
the Gas Giant. Build an extra freighter for the dilithium moon you have and two
construction ships, two freighters and another construction ship. Send the
second construction ship to the Gas Giant to build a a metal mining station and
two dilithium mining stations. Build a second Starbase to the North and then a
Trading station.
The third will build a dilithium mining station in the South East (no need to
defend it). Then sell some dilithium for metal and build another Starbase to
the South West (the Borgs will attack soon after, so send the fleet there).
The fourth construction ship can build a Science station near your starting
base and a Vulcan research.
At start, send the Enterprise and the other Sovereign and Galaxy ships to
defend your construction ships and clear out the Cube that will try to
entercept the construction ship. Send the Enterprise first, so it can use the
Cordomite reflector and save your ships. Clear out the Borgs that might be
roaming to the East (what goes there varies) when you can, but protecting the
construction ship is the priority. Once that is done, the Borg will never go
there again.
Put the Enterprise in front of your Starbase, otherwise, they will take too
many hits. You want to save the Starbase shields the most you can.
You will then need a Starbase to the South East, an Advanced Shipwyard, a
Temporal Stasis and about 16 Sovereign fully upgraded. The Temporal Stasis is
not super urgent, but you will need it ASAP so it finishes before the end game.
Those scouts you start with can become handy once the detection turrets are
destroyed. You should always have a scout to check if some Borgs are coming in
the South East and South West.
Eventually, the last convoy will appear to the North. This one you have to
protect, so you will need to send the fleet at the dilithium moon that goes
towards the Borg Base. Use the Temporal Stasis, because the Borg will have
three Tactical Cubes and some other ships there. Make sure you defend that ship
from the back and in front, so you may have to divide your fleet. Once the
convoy is past your defenses, send the Sovereign to the South East for the
final battle.
Klingon Campaign
K1 A Dagger at Zarush
Difficulty: Easy
The Cardassians have a well defended base in the North East that can be
accessed from the South East, or through the North wormhole that end up in the
South East, but you have to take some damage from the red nebula. There is a
lot of dilithium and latinum on the map. The only thing that will stop you is
the metal which you can buy with latinum.
In this scenario, you can build Starfleet Akiras and you can also research
their special weapon. Because of the fact that they cost 100 metal instead of
the 50 for the Vor'cha, I don't think they are necessary. It also happens that
it is harder to manage their build because of the nebulas.
At start send Martuk to the Trading station in the North. This station and
planet have to be protected in that scenario. This is where the Cardassians
will attack in force. Send the construction ship there to build 2 Starbases to
the East of the planet. The idea is to attack the Cardassians as they come out
of the red nebula, so that their long range ships need to come into the nebula
for attack, but can be shot if they come out.
In the meanwhile, use the Birds of Prey to get the Federation ships and
stations. The dilithium facility will need 4 freighters, and build some 5 more
for the latinum, at least (there is one you can get for free). The more
latinum, the faster you can go. You can decommission the Science station. At
the beginning, the Cardassians might attack a little everywhere, so have Martuk
and the Akiras you salvaged ready. Pretty fast, you will need to colonize and
defend the planet in the South East before the Cardassians do.
For the build, once the economy of the North planet is going (including a
Starbase near the latinium), a construction ship can go through the Wormhole
and build a Starbase to the North of the South East planet (East of the
Cardassian Sensor Array is good). Three Shipyards between the Starbase and the
planet. Make sure they are not in the gravity of the planet.
The overall strategy is to wait until the Cardassians send most of their ships
to attack your Starbase in the North, build up a large fleet of about 16
Vor'Cha or more, and attack the Cardassian base. First start by getting rid of
the two ship facilities in the North East, and then clear out the defense
around the planet. There is no point in taking on the Cardassian Starbases, so
just defend Marduk and the colony ship.
Only Martuk can destroy the Cardassian planet, and it takes awhile. You need to
colonize it to win.
K2 Executioner
Difficulty: Medium
The beginning is somewhat hard, especially the second wave of attacks on your
Starbase can very well destroy your Starbase, and it happens before you get
your reinforcements. Otherwise, it is fairly easy once you get the three
Negh'Vars and can build some Vor'Cha.
The Cardassians can attack anywhere, so you need a mobile force and I put some
plasma cannons, two per resources. The Cardassian Legates are the ones to check
out for, because of their long range. You need to station ships in front of
your Starbase to diminish the damage. Cardassians will colonize planets and
expand to the North West and to the West of their base. It is a good idea to
stop them. Cardassians will get free ships, including Legates every so often,
so there is nothing you can do to stop them, aside from finishing faster. Their
ships are sometimes cloaked too.
At first, send your Battleship to the South West of your base. Where there is a
moon and some latinum. Cue up a construction ship send it there. Build a
Starbase and a dilithium facility. Evetually, you will be able to expand to the
South East of that new base, to another dilithium moon. You can put the
Starbase near the dilithium moon, it will protect the moon and the latinum.
With your other construction ships, Build a dilithium station and one or two
plasma cannons. As soon as the station is done, build freighters for that moon
and the latinum. You can send the Vor'Cha to stop the Cardassians from building
their dilithim station to the West of their base that is in the North East.
Make sure you cloak them before sending. Build a Shipyard next to your starting
starbase, and build a few birds of prey to check the Cardassian expansion.
Intel is key in this scenario, for hit and runs with the Battleships. Keep your
Vor'Chas on defense of the Starbase. There is also a dilithium moon in the
North West that you should take over before the Cardasians do.
Otherwise, the Cardassians have two Starbases, one in the North East, and one
in the South East. 32 Vor`Chas should do the trick. Build a second Shipyard to
go faster.
K3 Brave New Worlds
Difficulty: Easy
You can build Qeh’Rals in this scenario, which makes it pretty easy. The
Cardassians are not very aggressive either, except for some small attacks in
the beginning. You have lots of metal and latinium.
Build a dilithium facility and a Starbase to the moon you see. Then an orbiting
platform and a Shipyard and Research facility. Then build the Advanced
Shipyard. You can then expand to the dilithium moon in the South. A cannon
should be enough as defense. Build some colony ships once the research facility
is done. You can colonize the planet to your South, one other to the North and
a last one to the East. You will need some Qeh’Rals to bombard the planets. Get
rid of the torpedo turrets around the map. 6 Qeh’Rals can do that easily. Scout
first with the Birds of Prey. There is also a Cardassian Shipyard not defended
in the South East. You can expand there with another dilithium moon.
Then it is only a matter of attacking the Cardassian base in the North East.
You can pretty much take out everything with 16 Qeh’Rals, but for the last
assault on the 2 Starbases, 32 would be better.
K4 Blockade
Difficulty: Easy
Send the construction ship South West of your starting location, and build a
Starbase South of the farthest latinum nebula. Send a cloaked Bird of prey in
the middle West of the map, to locate the planet to complete one of the mission
objective. Send the other South of your starting location, to locate the
dilithium moon. Protect the construction ship with your ships. If you stay East
of your Starbase, the Cardassians may never attack you at all in that scenario.
Send the construction ships to build a dilithium station, then build a Shipyard
near your Starbase, a Research station and an Advanced Shipyard. You will need
to build 5 freighters as well, 3 for the latinum. Research the Tachion Grid.
Then build Qeh’Rals. You may have around 4-5 when the convoy you need to stop
arrives. Send them with a scout or 2. The scout is needed to detect the cloaked
ships. Keep sending Qeh’Rals. At some point, some Species 8472 will appear
behind the convoy and will attack the Cardassians, so you might want to retreat
a bit when that happens, although with many Qeh’Rals, it should not be a
problem.
K5 The Unknown Prize
Difficulty: Easy
At the beginning, your Starbase is under attack, but nothing serious. Thoughout
the game, it will get attacked like that, but there is no concern to have. Just
build to the East of the Starbase.
Get the freighters near the dilithium moon working and cue up 7 freighters.
Send one to the dilithium moon in the North, and 2 to the one in the South of
the Gas Giant. Send 4 to the latinum nebulas. Send a construction ship to build
the dilithium mining station in the South, and a mining station. No need to
defend that base. Send Martuk and the other ship to get rid of the small ship
near the latinum nebula. Build a research station with the other construction
ship. Then you will build everything to get the Neg'Var. Get Tachion detector
and the Commando research.
Station your Battleship near the North moon, with the scout. Once you have 16
Neg'Var, it is time to attack the wormhole. Build a Starbase there with a few
torpedo turrets, as it will eventually be attacked in force once you capture
the ship.
Make your way to the Cardassian base with the Neg'Vars and destroy it. I
usually build a Shipyard South to their base and build some Commando Ships (8
should be enough) to capture the ship. It will Flee in the South East corner
which is protected by a few turrets. Some ships will appear in the North near
your Starbase there and a few will appear East of the Gas Giant on the in the
South East to try to intercept the ship. You will need a construction ship near
the South East to get it back to your base with a tractor beam.
K6 The Romulan Connection
Difficulty: Medium with the following strategy.
The planets you need to colonize are in the three corners of the map you don't
start in. The Romulans will attack in force, with many cloaked ships. They may
attack a little everywhere, but the main focus will be the starting Starbase.
They get free ships that will start in the NE and SW of your base in force. The
SW is the most dangerous one, since you only have a torpedo turret there, so
you might want to station your defense fleet there, or just bring them there
fast. So you need the Tachion research and Sensor arrays, as well as Neg'Vars
ASAP.
You can decommission the starting ships right away, as they do not stand a
chance against the Romulans anyway. You need to use Marduk to get the
long-range ships.
Build a Research facility and send the other construction ship East to the
Nebulas, build a Starbase South of those nebulas, so you block the entrance to
your base. This is what makes the mission medium and not hard. Create 5
freighters, one for the dilithium, and the others for the latinum. Once the
advanced shipyard is done, send a construction ship South to expand to the
dilithium moon with a Starbase and array. Then build a mining station. Make
sure you protect the ship with Marduk, until the starbase is done.
At this point, it is mainly a matter of doing the research and building many
Neg'Vars. Don't venture out until you have a small fleet in defense. With in a
second fleet, 8 Neg'Vars, you can clear out the map or turrets and colonize the
planets. You will need 16 for the Romulan Starbase that is in the South East.
Difficulty: Hard
K7 Battle of Cucis Major
Difficulty: Hard
Your starting base will be destoyed by the Caradassians and once it is
destroyed, you will get a new base in the South East, along with a bunch of
resources. All game long, the Cardassians will attack with many Battleships and
Legates, and there bases are very well defended.
At start decommission everything, send Martuk in the South East, along with the
two freighters who can mine dilithium on the moon at the South of your new
base. Cloak the Vor'Chas and you can use them to scout the map.
Once you get your base, Build three construction ships and two freighters. You
need to build two starbases right away behind the turrets that protect teh
entrance of your base. With the third construction ship, build the research
facilities. One freighter will go to the moon in the North, and the other will
gather latinum. Once you can, build a torpedo turret on the Northern moon.
Build two Advanced Shipywards behind the Starbases.
Then it is only a matter of getting 16 Neg'Vars for attack, but always keep
some on defense, at least 8. It takes awhile to get rid of the Cardassians, but
you have a fair amount of resources, so it goes fairly fast. The Cardassians
have a base to the North, one in the West, and the major base is in the North
West. You almost need 32 Neg'Vars once you start attacking there.
K8 Trojan Horse
Difficulty: Easy
Make the freighters working. Send the construction ship South to the moon.
Build another construction ship and 5 freighters for the dilithium and latinum.
As soon as you can, build 2 colony ships, the Commando research and build 4
Commando ships. Send a couple Birds of prey first as scouts. There should a one
or two small ships with 70 crew members to the West of the Gas Giant just
outside your base, so you want to capture one of those. It is not easy to do
without destroying them, so retreat and put your ships on green alert as soon
as the commandos are launched. It is a good thing to save at this point and
once you succeed. Sometime the Cardassians will be triggered and will attack
your base. I think this is a bug, so it might be best to save first. If you do
not move your Birds of Prey, they will probably not attack. Decommission your
Commando ships. Send back the captured ship to your base.
Now all you need is to build 32 Neg'Vars. Research the Shields first, so they
are at full shields for the attack (Repair them when you have tech 3). Level 3
weapons and level 2 Engines should be enough. Then send the Cardassian ship to
the Cardassian Starbase. Send your fleet to the Blue nebula to the South East
of your base, as that passage is faster to go through and should not be
defended, compared to the middle one. Once your ships are at the Cardassian
base, use your Ion Cannons on each Shipyard (4 groups of 8 Neg'Vars). At this
point, you will win, so the rest does not matter. The Cardassian Starbase is
not deactivated, and you will be attacked by all their ships, but it does not
matter, as long as you destroy the Shipyards.
K9 To Cardassia and Victory
Difficulty: Medium
The main problem on this map is latinum. There is no latinum nebula near by
your starting position. There is one South of you, so send a construction ship
there. You will need to send the Neg'Vars to get rid of the Cardassian
expansion there. There is only a turret and a dilithium station.
Build to the moon on your West a dilithium and mining stations and a Starbase a
little South of the moon, so it can intercept fleets. Send freighters South to
the moon. And send the repair ship, because you will want to capture the
dilithium mining station. There is also another mining station that you can
capture in the West you have to be cautious though not to get in range of the
Cardassian base there. Scout first with the Birds of Prey. Build the Starbase a
little to the South East of the moon, so your ship can gather latinum without
being shot by the Torpedo turrets. I used 6 freighters for the latinum on that
map. 4 in the South and two in the West. Build a Trading station when you can.
The whole map is divided in two by some asteroids. The only passages are small
to the East and to the West. The Cardassians may attack anywhere, always in
force, so having a mobile force of Neg'Vars is important. Another expansion to
the mining moon to the South East. Once you have a shipyard, you can
decommission all the small ships except the Scouts and Neg'Vars, which will
give you the crew you need. Build the Advanced Shipyard next to the fourth
Starbase in the South East.
With that setup, you should be fine to get rid of the Cardassians, once you
have enought Neg'Vars. Again, 32 Neg'Vars is best of the final assault. You can
build a second Advanced Shipyard if you want to go faster, as resources are
plentiful on this map (aside from latinum).
K10 The Final Battle
Difficulty: Easy
The map is divided in three, and each part can only be accessed by a wormhole.
If you take too long, there will be some attacks by Species 8472 on your base,
but nothing dangerous. Otherwise, the map is pretty safe aside from the odd
Cardassian ship. You don't get crew for Starbases or Foreigi trade from the
Trading station.
Send a constructor South to the latinum nebula and build a Starbase, and then
three freighters, and the other East to the dilithium moon. Build another
construction ship and 4 freighters (2 for each dilithium moon). Once the
dilithium moon is done, send the constructor East to the other dilithium moon.
Send Martuk right away to stop the Cardassians to colonize the planet East of
you, and then defend your construction ship and freighters. Once the second
dilithium moon is done, build a Starbase South of that to the other latinum
nebula. Build 2 colony ships when you can, and then 2 Birds of prey for
scouting and then a torpedo turret for each dilithium moon. Then it is just a
matter of doing research and building Neg'Vars. One mining station should be
enough, a good place is the moon just West of the second dilithium moon.
To the Far East, there is a Cardassian base. Once this is cleared, on the
second map, there are only a few turrets and some resources. It is easy to go
through it. Send a construction ship or 2 and cross the map. Once you get into
the second wormhole, keep a fleet on the second map, because the Cardassians
will go through, maybe cloaked, so you want a scout around. On the third map,
you can take out the Cardassians moons, and defend the construction ships so
they can build a Shipyard and a Starbase. This is to repair your ships.
The Quantum singulator is a Starbase, so watch out. There are also 2 other
Starbases to protect it. They can be taken out easily with 32 Neg'Vars' ion
cannon, then retreat the ships, repair and repeat without any loss.
Borg Campaign
B1 Werefolf Pack
Difficulty: Easy
Research the Assimilator Beam.
Take your Assimilators and put them on green alert and no movement. Send them
in the green nebula to your North East and wait for federation ships to come
and assimilate them. Don't engage anoybody else. You can if you want build a
mining station with one of the construction ships, but it is not necessary.
Sell extra dilithium for metal. Once you get your objectives, it takes awhile
for the cutscene to start, for some reason.
B2 Pink Slips.
Difficulty: Medium
The difficulty comes from the need to use those long-range Streamrunners. You
will want 16 Assimilators right away, in order to get them, as well as get a
few Galaxy class ships.
At Start, research the Assimilator Beam. Build a dilithium station and a
Matrix. Then build another dilithium station and a mining station to the North
of the planet, colonize the planet, build some extra Assimilators and put their
special weapon on automatic. Build a Starbase when you can, and a Shipyard
North of the planet. Send the Assimilators North to the entrance of the
Federation base. They can use their weapons while warping, so you can start the
assimilation and follow the ships. Those are free ships that the Federation
will get periodically: A Galaxy class and 2 Streamrunners. Keep the Galaxy near
your base and slowly get rid of the turrets when you can, by using a scout and
protecting with the Assimilators. If you have 32 Assimilators, one group can
get protect, while the other takes over the Galaxy attacks.
Once the Federation is taken over, the Species 8472 will attack your base and
will get rid of the Federation turrets that go to their base. Your Starbase
should be able to take care of that. Their own Starbase needs to be taken from
a distance as well. Use your assimilators and Galaxy ships to get rid of their
ships first, and then it is just a matter of time. It is possible to take it by
force as well, since it is the end. Just send all your ships, and they should
be able to do the job.
B3 Interdiction
Difficulty: Easy
You have the ability to make Cubes in this scenario, which makes it pretty easy.
The main thing that you will lack is drones.
Send the two construction ships to the North East, and build a dilithium
station and Nexus. The third construction ship can be sent North to the planet
to build mining station and Nexus. Colonize that planet when you can.
There is a dilithium moon in the middle West that you can expand to and another
one in the South West that is poorly defended. Just build a Nexus there for the
drones.
In the middle North there are the two main shipyards of the Romulans that are
poorly defended, and there is another one to the South of the Romulan Starbases
just North of the Western dilithium moon.
The Romulans have three Starbases, so you will need around 16 Cubes for the
final attack.
You don't need to assimilate the Cargo ships, as they will cost you drones, but
you will need to build a Wedge to finish all objectives.
B4 There goes the Neighborhood
Difficulty: Easy
You start in some sort of enclave. To the East, you can build a Starbase and
dilithium station, as well as the technology buildings.
To the South, send the third construction ship to build a dilithium station and
another Starbase. Don't build the dilithium station next to the mining moon, so
it does not interfee with the mining station that should be built next.
Research Tachion detection and start building Tactical Cubes when you can. With
the starting Cubes, get rid of the Romulans in the North and colonize the
planet in the North East, and build a Starbase and sensor array there. Always
bring a scout with your attack force. Next, you can go down and colonize the
planet in the South.
Once you have at least 8 Tactical Cubes, you can attack the Romulan Starbase in
the West. Assimilating the Phoenix factory and other structures can give you a
lot of material, especially metal.
Then with 16 Tactical Cubes, you should be able to attack the main Romulan base
in the South East, which is protected by many torpedo turrets and a Starbase.
Keep a few Cubes at the entrance of your base with a sensor array, and any
attack by the Romulans should be easy to repel with the aid of the Starbase.
B5 The Catch
Difficulty: Medium
The safe way is to protect the ships until reinforcements arrive from your
Starbase. So hide the ships you need in the corner and protect them with the
rest. You can cloak the Raptor and send it through the wormhole and
decommission it in your base, as it will not help with defense. The other
long-range ship should be put on green alert, so you don't hurt your own ships.</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
Use the Talon to scout while cloaked.
At your base, send the Cube and Warbird South to protect the dilithium moon and
destroy the Species mining station. Send the constructor there to build a
dilithium station and a Matrix. Once you can, build a Starbase.
Build it South of the Moon, because the Species might try to bypass it by
moving to the left of the map. Build a construction ship to build the research
facilities and 2 freighters. Before building the Starbase, build the Recycler,
so you can decommission your ships without penalty. To make it easier to
manage, build it North with the construction ship that built the Matrix in the
South, and send it back South for the Starbase and Advanced Matrix. Once the
buildings are done, build the mining station.
Now all you need is to gather around 8 Tactical Cubes upgraded and attack the
Species base on the other side of the wormhole. take your time, and take out
the ships first while out of reach of the Starbase. Once you have destroyed the
Starbase, you can then send the convoy through the wormhole and up to your base
to finish the objectives.
B6 Interception
Difficulty: Easy
The only difficulty in that map is to get drones. The Klingons don't really
attack, so defense is not a problem.
Send your Cubes North East of your staring point to clear out the dilithium
moon of Klingon ships. Build a station and Starbase there. Defend with your
other ships and send the Cubes North to the M planet. It has three plasma
turrets and maybe a few ships around. Clear that out with the Cubes and send
the colony ship there and then send a construction ship to build another
Starbase and a dilithium station. Then build some 10 Tactical Cubes and send
them to the Klingon base North West. You will need the Holding beam to capture
the Science station. Capture it as soon as the Starbase is destroyed and you
will finish the scenario.
B7 Strange Bedfellows
Difficulty: Medium
The Species 8472 are situated in the South East. There is a planet there. North
of the planet is the actual base and South of that is the Tachion Nebula you
need to secure.
At start, get your freighters working and build 3 more freighters for the
dilithium. Build a Modification Center. Then build two construction ships and
send them South of the little planet to your South East. You should have sent
the Cubes there in advance to get rid of any Species. Then build 2 Starbases
there. The reason is that the Species like to go throught that little passage
to teh North East, or just gather up a huge fleet South of the passage. So you
want to stop them building up so they come only a few at a time. Then build an
Advanced Matrix there, and maybe a thir Starbase behind to protect it. You
might need a second mining station. The Class M planet to the South of your
staring base can do. There is no need to defend your dilithium moon, but build
a torpedo turret just in case, and the same for the second mining station.
Wait until you have about 16 Tactical Cubes upgraded to attack the Northern
base, and then the Southern base. The Southern base has a lot of defense, so
keep building Cubes. There will be some small attacks after you secure the
nebula, but nothing threatening. YOu will need to send you three construction
ship to the nebula to build 10 energy cannon to finish the scenario. Send more
if you want to go faster, but three is the minimumm because the last objective
asks to send three construction ships there.
B8 Tidal Wave
Difficulty: Medium
There will be some constant attacks from all sides, but nothing major. Build a
mining station and a dilithium station. Build another construction ship for the
research facilities. Build a Starbase to the North of the mining moon. Once you
can, colonize the M planet in the North West (send some protection along), and
build a Starbase and mining station there. It might be a good place to put the
Enterprise and Borg Cube, so all the planet is covered by defense. Once you
can, expand to the dilithium moon East of that planet. In the beginning though,
send some of your ships to protect the dilithium moon to your West. Once the M
planet is taken over, this is where they will attack instead, so that moon
should be safe.
The Species have a Starbase in the middle of the map, and some turrets South of
that. They have a lone Starbase in the North East and the main base is in the
North West, East of the Gas Giant there. It has a Starbase and energy cannons.
16 Tactical Cubes are more than enough to get rid of that.
There will probably be some Species ship all over the place, so use the earch
and destroy command to find them. A whole bunch of detectors may help as well.
B9 The Maw
Difficulty: Medium
When you start, 4 Federation freighters are moving to the Southern dilithium
moon. Send 1 to the Eastern moon. Build two others. Send one construction ship
next to the Gas Giant and build a mining station. You have to send the ship
close first, because for some reason it will not move if you just tell it to
build the station right away.
Send the two Borg construction ships to the North West of their starting
location. There is a dilithium moon there, so build a Starbase and a dilitium
station. Then take the Cubes and the Borg Queen and send them to the Federation
base, and then in the South East. There is a Species base there, South of the
dilithium and mining moon. To take the their Starbase, use the Queen modulation
shield to protect whatever Cube is attacked by the Starbase. Send the other
Federation construction ship and three new freighters there to gather the
resources. Station the Federation Sovereign there for defense.
Once the Cubes are done, send them to the Rift, because this is where the
Species will get their free ships all throughout the game. You want to stop
them before they start moving around the map, otherwise, they are painful. Send
the Borg construction ship that did the mining station there (Eventually, you
will want some Cubes there for protection). Build two Starbases North of the
Rift, one to the left and one to the right. Build an Advanced Shipyard to the
Wst of the Rift, and a dilithium station to the South. With those Starbases and
maybe 8 Tactical Cubes, you should be able to stop the Species from getting on
the map. Research the Weapons first to help.
Now it is just a matter of gathering the resources. Build a Recycler,
decommission the ships you don't need and buy metal. Eventually, you will need
to send 5 Scouts to the Rift. Make sure you make them enter just after a
Species attack, so they do not get destroyed. Once you have 20 000 of each
resources, you will have dinished the objectives.
B10 The Rifts
Difficulty: Medium
There is no Warp Drive in this scenario. You start with two construction ships,
a Borg one and a Federation one. Build two Starbases to the North of your
starting location. Put your Starbases next to each others so they can cover
each others. The Species will sometimes use their special weapon that disable
weapons so your Starbases need to be able to cover each others. They will come
from the North exclusively though, so you will want a line of 5 Starbases to
your North. One extra to the left so they do not go behind your back, and two
to the right of the initial two. I only build Borg Starbases, except the
original Federation one, as they repair faster. Once the Borg Starbase is done,
build two construction ships to build all the facilities. Eventually, a sensor
array behind the Starbases is useful, because the Species tend to gather just
out of sensor range. If you manually attack with the Starbases, they get more
range. So when attacked, use the Queen modulation shield on whichever Starbase
is under attack, and manually attack with as many Starbases you can, targetting
the stronger ships first. They will attack in force, so be prepared. With the
Federation ship, build a Trading station next to the Rift to get supplies
faster.
Eventually, there will be a small convoy that you need to stop. They come from
the East and will come your way. There is no hurry. Wait a little so that they
come your way, and send the three Cubes you start with to intercept. I think
they only have three ships.
Once you have a Recycler, decommission all the ships except the ones that need
to survive and the Tactical Cube. Don't build Federation facilities, because
you will not have enough resources. Just do the research and build 8 Tactical
Cubes. Research the Assimilation facility tech that allows the Cubes to fusion.
Fusion them and send the Fusion Cube in the middle of the map. There is a small
forward base there that can produce ships and only protected by a few turrets.
Then send the Fusion Cube North of that to destroy the Rift Maker. It is about
three third of the map North and in the middle on the East/West axis. It will
be protected by many ships, but ignore the ships and attack the Rift Maker.
Once it is destroyed, the mission is over. So you do not even need to complete
the other objectives. As long as you have level two techs in weapons and
shields, it won't be a problem to destroy it with the Fusion Cube.
