II. Story Introduction
--------------------------------------------------------------
In the twilight years of the Warring States Era, it was a turbulent world and
there seemed to be endless wars. The six states that are located in the east
are constantly being assaulted by the powerful Qin, and the once-peaceful and
idyllic East Baiyue is not an exception. The King of Qin, Ying Zheng, appoints
envoys to meet Lan Xiong, the Chieftain of the East Baiyue, in an attempt to
subdue the clan.
It was said in the ancient times that the wars between Chi You and the Yellow
Emperor had never stopped, and the human race would forever be entangled in
imbroglios with the gods. The adventures of these protagonists has just begun
in this world mingled with wars, legends, and deep kinships...

In my experience with the game, it is recommended that you have a LOT of RAM.
Although it will run on a 128MB system, the stopping between new graphics is
almost unberable, worse the game plays like an MMORPG, in which the actual
gameplay still proceeds even though the system is loading new graphics, which
could case your characters to die becauseyou need to heal them then the game
loads up. After the loading you see them dead. Pretty annoying.

IV. Character Information
--------------------------------------------------------------
IV a. Lan Wei
Sex: Female
Age: 18
Place of birth: Rose Cloud Village
Father: Lan Xiong
Mother: Hong Wei
Background
Lan Wei grew up in the remote Rose Cloud Village. Like other clan members, she
was born to be simple and kind. Lan Wei was cleverer than other children of her
age and she mastered new knowledge very quickly. Because of this, she didn't
like to spend much time and energy to practice. She always loafed around and
acted like a child. Her father was very strict with her, but she could always
seem to escape punishment. People always spoiled her and this made her more
unruly and difficult to control. She always made quick decisions without full
consideration and often played practical jokes. Each time when she learned
magic, she would experiment with it on her friend, Ah Wa. Her father always
scolded her about this.
When she was young, she was always told how bad the people of the Central Plains
were. Her mother died very early because of the invasion of the Qin troops. But
she never saw the people of the Central Plains for herself. So she didn't hate
the people of the Central Plains as much as her fellow clan members did.
Features
Lan Wei is a Baiyue witch. In battle, she casts ancient spells, uses ancient
dances and activates Five-element magic. Lan Wei excels in Wood and Fire magic
and curses. Fire magic has powerful attack and Wood magic brings about some
disadvantageous effects to enemies such as Slow Down and Poisoning besides
causing damage. Curses can make a lot of enemies lose fighting ability
instantly.
Personality
Kind, reliable, smart and unruly.
--------------------------------------------------------------
IV b. Yan Hong
Sex: Male
Age: 24
Place of birth: West Baiyue
Father: Yan Bo
Mother: Ah Yan
Yan Hong's father, Yan Bo, was the chief of the West Baiyue. When the Qin army
invaded, Yan Bo commanded his fellow people and fought a desperate battle with
the invaders. Finally, he died and his race was annihilated. Yan Peng, who was
regarded as the traitor of West Baiyue, rescued his nephew Yan Hong at that
critical moment and later taught him the skill of summoning beasts. Yan Hong
then wandered from place to place accompanying his uncle.
When the Qin army was surrounding Lan Xiong, Yan Bo and Yan Hong helped him.
Afterwards, Yan Peng left his nephew to Lan Xiong's care. Lan Xiong then
regarded
Yan Hong as his pupil and thus Yan Hong stayed and lived in Rosy-Cloud Village.
Yan Hong was as kind as his fellow people. His experience made him love his
relatives and race very much and hate the Qin people with passion.
His wandering experience during his childhood turned Yan Hong into a reticent
and arrogant man. The suffering made him stubborn and persevering. Yan Hong
should have been a sensitive person. He was warm-hearted just like Lan Wei,
but he was afraid of being hurt again. So he always shied away from
communicating with others. Only Lan Wei could understand him and his heart
would be open only for Lan Wei.
Features
Yan Hong is a sacrifice wizard. A wizard is a bridge linked with the gods.
They can make use of the power of the gods to bestow spiritual power upon
common people. This kind of power can not only help others, but also summon
ancient monsters. A wizard has low attack power, but his supplementary and
healing magic play an indispensable role in a combat party. Besides,
he can summon all kinds of monsters to help him fight.
Personality
Persevering, reticent, intelligent, arrogant and radical.
--------------------------------------------------------------
IV c. Liang Hu
Sex: Male
Age: 26
Place of birth: Beastman Village
Liang Hu was relatively weak and small in build as compared to other beastman
children. In the race of Beastman that glorified strength, he was always
belittled by his clansmen. Liang Hu was emulous since he was a child. Once he
made a bet with others and they agreed that the loser would jump from a cliff.
After he realized he had lost the bet, he really jumped from the cliff. Thanks
to Beastman's incredible endurance and vitality, he survived and wandered in
the area of the Central Plains. He was greatly discriminated against there
because of his unusual appearance.
When he went to Rosy-Cloud Village, the local people didn't reject him just
because of his weird appearance. Lan Wei even regarded him as her blood brother.
So he stayed and lived on in Rosy-Cloud Village. He always protected Lan Wei
as if she were his blood sister. Although he was a man of few words, the few
words he did speak could clearly demonstrate his concern for Lan Wei.
Features
Beastman soldiers are very strong. Although they act slowly, the damage power
is incredible. Throwing Stones and Explosion are medium-range attack skills
and some of their skills can cause damage to a group of enemies. Their beast
nature sometimes results in them becoming hysterical. If he becomes hysterical
Liang Hu will become extremely powerful. Since he was born with high HP and
constitution, Liang Hu always plays the role of shield in combat. He draws
the attention of enemies so that his party members can have time to cast
powerful spells.
Personality
Loyal, emulous, honest, reticent and insightful.
--------------------------------------------------------------
IV d. Cai Xin
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Place of birth: Giant-Monster Village
Father: Huan Qi
Mother: Cai Lian
Background
Cai Xin's father was previously a common civilian of the Qin state. He was
wounded by accident during a battle and was saved by Cai Lian. Later they
fell in love with each other and got married. The fellow villagers opposed
this marriage and the couple was separated. Her father wasn't able to
contact her after the separation and her mother died of disease a few years
later. Cai Xin grew up in an environment of prejudice and distrust. Cai Xin
lived in Giant-Monster Village that was very near to the border of the
Central Plains. The day before Lan Wei came to her village, the Qin army
had begun attacking it. Cai Xin and Lan Wei joined forces to defeat the
Qin army. Afterwards, she decided to join Lan Wei's party and hoped to
find out where her father was.
Her kindness was derived from her mother and Aunt Ju. She didn't agree
with the prejudiced attitude of Yan Hong and Lan Wei towards the people
of the Central Plains. But she didn't argue this issue directly with them.
She just persuaded them with patient reasoning and logic to help them
understand the basic goodness of human nature.
Features
Cai Xin is an assassin. She is greatly concerned about her weapons and
usually uses two blades. She can combine different kinds of attack skills
to create various "new" skills. This way she can easily achieve the
maximum power of her weapons. Because of her small size, Cai Xin can only
use some light and short blades. But this doesn't reduce her attack. With
dexterous action, she can cause deadly damage to her enemies from any angle.
Personality
Easygoing and unbiased.
--------------------------------------------------------------
IV e. Gai Nie
Sex: Male
Age: 35
Place: Yuci
Background
Gai Nie led a reclusive life in Yuci. He had followed Li Mu, a Great General
of the Zhao State, to fight against the Qin army. The Qin army was superior
at the time, but they couldn't defeat Zhao easily because of Li Mu. Gai Nie
risked his life to fight together with Li Mu. To everyone's surprise, the
King of Zhao believed wild rumors about Li Mu's loyalty and had him killed.
As a result, Zhao was soon annihilated by Qin. The death of Li Mu made Gai
Nie greatly depressed. So he escaped to Yuci with his wife.
Before long, he received a letter from Jing Ke inviting him to join him in
a plot to assassinate the King of Qin, Ying Zheng. He hesitated because his
wife was pregnant at the time. His wife then persuaded him to kill the
ruthless King and he finally decided to join Jing Ke in the assassination
plot. Suddenly, a troop of Qin soldiers found their place and killed his wife.
At the critical moment, Lan Wei and her companions passed by and saved him.
Thanks to the encouragement of Lan Wei and her companions, Gai Nie then joined
them to search for the Empyrean Stones.
Features
Gai Nie is a Chinese paladin. Since he has been practising swordsmanship
for a long time, his balanced build and straight swords display a harmonious
sense of masculine power. Paladins make good use of the energy cycle and
activate their own potential power. This way they can achieve both a high
level of attack and defense. During the Warring States period, paladins
are influenced by Mohist philosophy so that they emphasize teamwork as
well as individual improvement. Therefore, Gai Nie knew many supplementary
skills.
Personality
Dispassionate, experienced, knowledgeable and full of forethought.

VI. Chapter 1 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
The story begins at the home of the wizard Chi Huan, Cloud Rose Village.
Having failed to meet Lan Xiong, the Qin envoys are pressuring Chi Huan
to submit to them. For his part Chi Huan rebuffs them with the excuse
that his chieftain, Lan Xiong, is absent. At this time, Lan Wei returns
home. The Qin generals think that Lan Wei is merely a weak little girl
but are wary of Liang Hu who intervenes to protect Lan Wei. They decide
to take their leave.
"Must our peace always be so short-lived? It seems war is inevitable" ,
says Chi Huan, his face laden with worry. A newborn calf fears not the
tiger. Lan Wei wants to fight the Qin. Chi Huan calms her and suggests
she go back to have a rest since it is dark outside. Lan Wei encounters
Yin Cheng as she steps out of the door. Yin Cheng says that he has come
just to let her know he is setting off for the Central Plains. Lan Wei
asks him to bring her back some nice things from the Central Plains.
Before going to bed, Lan Wei can idle about since during this period
there are no primary tasks.
Side Quest 1: Lan Wei meets Ah Dan at the gate of the tavern. He is busy
looking for the money from Chi Huan for the tiger-bone wine. He lost it
when catching the bugs. Then Lan Wei promises him that she will help get
the tiger-bone wine from the innkeeper.
Side Quest 2: Lan Wei tells the innkeeper about Ah Dan losing the money
and afterwards decides to head for Luoxia Valley to find some pieces of
snake meat for the tiger-bone wine. After killing the snakes in Luoxia
Valley Lan Wei will get the meat randomly. Giving the meat to the innkeeper
she gets the tiger-bone wine in return. If she gives the meat to Ah Dan
she will get 100 Experience points. In addition, snake meat can help
enrich the blood, so gamers had better hunt more for storage, in
preparation for later battles.
Side Quest 3: Speaking to Brother Huo, Lan Wei learns about the Monkey
wine. Then she goes to Luoxia Valley, in the middle of which there is
an escarpment, and there are 3 monkeys there. Of the 3 choices, gamers
should choose the option saying "Pick up some stones and throw them at
the monkeys.", then the monkeys will return the attack, as you did,
using Monkey fruits. In this way Lan Wei gets 4 Monkey fruits (the first
one is for Xiao Miao at the gate of the tavern). Lan Wei takes the fruit
to Chef Yao at the tavern, who later promises Lan Wei some Monkey wine
but Lan Wei is to get the wine the next day). If you choose the other
options even once, you will not be able to complete this side quest.
Side Quest 4: Having got the Monkey fruit, talk to Xiao Miao at the gate
of the tavern before entering. He will ask Lan Wei for a Monkey fruit.
Give him one and he will tell you that he learnt from Ah Wa something
about the tree cavity in the Anthropophagous Jungle. (Please note here
that once you talk to Chef Yao, all the Monkey fruit will be handed to
him, consequently this plot will not occur). The tree cavity is at the
top right of the Anthropophagous Jungle, and from the cavity some
Fragrant Fruit can be found (this fruit can be used in the Chengdu branch
task) .
Side Quest 5: Idling about in Cloud Rose Village, Lan Wei encounters a
young lad, who looks like he is from the Central Plains, who, after
enquiry, she discovers is called Wu Xiong. He is here to deliver Flower
Wine to Old Man Qiu. Lan Wei had long been craving the treasures of Old
Man Qiu, so she agrees to deliver the wine for Wu Xiong. Old Man Qiu
now is not at home, so this quest can only be finished at chapter 2.
Side Quest 6: In the house of Bai Yue, Lan Wei's close friend, Granny
Yue, requests Lan Wei to find some pine wood for her. She can look for
the wood in the suburbs if there isn't any downtown. Click on the trees
and the wood will drop from them randomly. You can find it if you try.
Then hand the wood to Granny Yue.
Side Quest 7: Lan Wei encounters Ah Sheng, the hunter who once borrowed
from Lan Wei the old armlet of Lan Xiong (the Chieftain), to use while
hunting. Go to the bedchamber of Lan Xiong, find the armlet and hand it
to Ah Sheng, but please remember to get it back the next day.
Side Quest 8: Lan Wei speaks to Uncle He. He asks her to get him some
snakeskin to cover his crabstick. Go and get him some snakeskin
from Luoxia Valley.
Side Quest 9: Lan Wei speaks to Tie Sheng in Luoxia Valley, learning
the snakes are very dangerous and it is better to be well prepared.
There is some antidote to snakebites and flower poison in the box in
Chi Huan's room. Give the antidote for snakebites to Tie Sheng and
he will tell Lan Wei something about the wild animals.
Having helped so many people one after another, Lan Wei feels quite
tired now and goes back to her room for a rest. ( Please note that
once Lan Wei goes back for a rest, the first day is finished, and
the 9 branch tasks above will be missed if not completed yet. There
is not to be any chance of completing them again. It will be the same
for the next day.)
During the night, Lan Xiong who has just returned goes to Chi Huan's,
telling him that Ying Zheng (the King of Qin) dispatched envoys to
force a capitulation. Lan Xiong also expresses the determination that
East Baiyue will struggle to the last man even if Qin can some day
unify the Central Plains. He can recollect clearly the happenings
of 15 years ago...
Hong Wei, Lan Xiong's wife, advises him to take an early rest, for he's
been tired out since West Baiyue was invaded by Qin. Their little daughter
is 3 years old, and Lan Xiong really needs to give her a name. Suddenly a
villager rushes in and reports that a Qin force is attacking and Lan Ying
( Lan Xiong's son) is fighting back alone. The couple immediately set off
to support their son. Getting out of the village from the right side, they
meet Chi Huan. Now gamers can control these 3 characters, who are of very
high levels ( level 20) , so the Qin soldiers are not a match for them at
all. Gamers can take this chance to experience some superior magic and have
an idea of how different roles upgrade their levels according to their
character classes.
By the side of the village, Lan Ying is being viciously attacked by the Qin
soldiers and is seriously injured. After warning his parents off quickly,
Lan Ying destroys part of the Qin force through magic but at the expense of
losing his own life. Distraught at the loss of their son, the couple struggle
desperately, however, Hong Wei is killed in the fierce battle. At this moment
of truth, the Summon Fiend appears from the rear of the Qin force,
annihilating all of them. It turns out to be Yan Peng who extended this timely
help. He is the younger brother of Yan Bo, the Chieftain of West Baiyue. Lan
Xiong is astonished to see him for he thought Yan Peng had already been killed!
But he later learns everything from Yan Peng. Yan Peng once offended the Clan
Rules and was going to be sentenced to death, but his brother, the Chieftain of
West Baiyue, didn't have the heart to kill him, so he secretly set Yan Peng
free.
From then on, Yan Peng led a wandering life. One day he received news that the
Qin were attacking West Baiyue. He decided to set out and help, but at last,
however hard he tried, Yan Peng was only able to rescue his nephew, Yan Hong.
Unwilling to have Yan Hong lead a life of vagrancy and suffering with him, Yan
Peng entrusted the child to Lan Xiong. Lan Xiong vowed revenge on their
persecutors, and named his daughter Lan Wei, after his wife, Hong Wei.
Stepping into the past can only give you agony. Chi Huan tries to take Lan
Xiong's mind away from the tragic memory and advises him to entrust some of
the affairs of the clan to Lan Wei, as it will be good experience for her.
Lan Xiong agrees.
--------------------------------------------------------------
VII. Chapter 2 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
A new day breaks. Lan Wei gets up from her bed. She decides to go and
practice some new magic with Ah Wa. Knowing this, Ah Wa is intending
to escape, because he clearly understands the risks of being Lan Wei's
trial horse. Unfortunately he is stricken by Lan Wei's magic, lying
flat on the ground. At first Lan Wei thinks he is just pretending, but
later she realizes she is wrong. Yes, she used the wrong magic. Then
Lan Wei hurries to Chi Huan's for help. At Chi Huan's home she meets
her father. "I am going to be blamed", she says to herself. However,
totally to her surprise, her father doesn't reproach her at all, only
telling her to save Ah Wa first. Chi Huan tells Lan Wei to kill the
Great Snake in the cavern of Luoxia Valley, and the gallbladder of
the snake will be just the remedy for Ah Wa's injury. Just stepping
out of the door, Lan Wei meets Liang Hu, who has just carried Ah Wa
home. On Lan Wei's request, Liang Hu goes to Luoxia Valley with her.
They find a cavern inside the valley. The Great Snake is in there.
Luckily it is not as tricky as expected and it moves very slowly, so
it is easily killed. At the same time as Lan Wei and Liang Hu get the
snake gallbladder, Yan Hong goes back to Cloud Rose Village, seeming
to carry the burdens of the world on his shoulders he doesn't even
notice the greetings from the villagers. He goes straight to Lan Xiong.
Yan Hong tells Lan Xiong that things have been proceeding smoothly.
Lan Xiong advises him to have an early rest for the sacrificial rites
for the God of War would take place the next day. Lan Wei goes back to
the village, handing the snake gallbladder to Chi Huan. Ah Wa is saved.
Then Lan Wei goes home to see her father. Lan Xiong doesn't blame her
at all, instead, he tells Lan Wei to assist him in the general affairs
of the clan from now on. He also asks Lan Wei to rest earlier for there
is a memorial ceremony for the God of War the next day. For centuries,
the Baiyue people had been supporting Chi You , the God of War, in his
battle with the Yellow Emperor, so in their minds Chi You was an idol.
But in the end Chi You was defeated by the Yellow Emperor, so the
Baiyue people had to move back to the south. Nobody had met Chi You
after his defeat. But the Qin had long been coveting the land of Baiyue,
so wars were inevitable.
Side Quest 1: Speak to Xiao Miao in the village and he will ask you for
some candy. Give him some.
Side Quest 2: Find Ah Sheng and get back the armet you lent him yesterday.
Side Quest 3: Go to Old Man Qiu's home and give him the flower wine. You
will be awarded equipment or experience points. The awards are different
according to your different choices in the talk.
Side Quest 4: Find Chef Yao in the tavern and get the Monkey wine from him.
(This side quest is not available if you didn't finish the side quest 3
from Chapter 1.)
Side Quest 5: Find Uncle He, and you will see his crabstick is broken.
There have been some arguments between Craftsman Da and him, so Uncle
He feels embarrassed to reach out to him for help. Lan Wei agrees to
help ask Craftsman Da for help and take the initiative to be the
conciliator.
Branch 6: Go to Bai Yue's home and you will meet Granny Yue. She will
tell you Bai Yue is not in. She's been out in the mountains searching
for white camellia. Thinking Bai Yue doesn't know anything about magic
so it would be risky for her if she meets any danger, Lan Wei decides
to go and look for her. After having a word with Ah Dan at the gate,
she knows Bai Yue is near a very old tree in the middle of the Mantrap
Wood . Having successfully helped out Bai Yue who has been caught by
the anthropophagous flower, Lan Wei sends her back to Cloud Rose Village.
On the way they meet Yan Hong, who is also coming to help. Originally
Lan Wei was thinking it was for Yan Hong that Baiyue had risked her
life to pick the white camellia alone in the wilderness. She felt
unhappy about that. But later Lan Wei found out it was for her parents
who had already passed away.
Branch 7: In Mantrap Wood Lan Wei meets Tian Sheng. He tells Lan Wei to
be careful for the flower is quite poisonous. Handing the antidote for
the flower poison in Chi Huan's room to Tie Sheng, Lan Wei learns
something from him about the wild monsters.
Having been so engrossed in various tasks, Lan Wei was really tired
and today she gets up very late. She runs to the temple hurriedly and
stands on the right side of Chi Huan. The sacrificial ceremony begins.
While every villager is praying reverently, suddenly some weird green
fire appears on the Chieftain, Lan Xiong, after which, he falls to the
ground, dead. After Lan Xiong's death, Chi Huan tries to persuade Lan Wei
to succeed her father in the position of Chieftain in order that the whole
clan of Baiyue could be united in the war against the powerful Qin, but
Lan Wei refuses. She feels she is not yet eligible for that position. At
the graveyard, Lan Wei is too distraught over her father's sudden death
and faints. Luckily she is found by Yan Hong and carried back home. Then
she falls very seriously ill. Seven days later she comes to her father's
tomb again to sacrifice offerings. There she meets Yan Hong. Yan Hong says
when he was a small boy, he heard that if the five pieces of the Empyrean
Stone could be pieced together the complete stone could resurrect the dead,
and he was firmly convinced of this. Hearing this, Lan Wei is so glad and
hopeful that she can find the five pieces of the Empyrean Stone. Uncle
Chi Huan is the most knowledgeable man inside the clan so Lan Wei wants
to hear what he thinks. Whether Chi Huan doesn't know anything about the
Empyrean Stones at all or he is just keeping it from her intentionally,
Lan Wei doesn't know. However, Uncle Chi Huan simply tells her not to be
distracted by anything and make good preparations to be the new chieftain.
Lan Wei certainly won't give up. She leaves to ask Yin Cheng about the
Empyrean Stones. Yin Cheng also believes that the Empyrean Stones exist,
saying years ago when West Baiyue was invaded by the Qin, Yan Bo, the
Chieftain, had one of his soldiers send one of the Empyrean Stones to
Lan Xiong for safe keeping. Then he advises Lan Wei to check her father's
belongings. Lan Wei finds a key from the bookshelf in her father's
bedchamber. With the key she opens the case near the shelf. There is a
small joss inside the case, which is so similar to the one in the
sacrificial hall. To find it out, she runs to the sacrificial hall, puts
the small joss into the hole on the right side of the statue of the God of
War and then she finds a piece of stone drop from the credence. Lan Wei,
together with some other people in the clan find that piece of stone is
quite similar to the trace on the stone gate of the Spider Cave, which was
in the northwest of the Mantrap Wood . So together with Liang Hu, Lan Wei
goes to the cave. They successfully open the stone gate and get the first
piece of the Empyrean Stone. Liang Hu is very surprised to see the stone,
saying he had once seen a similar stone in his hometown in the Central
Plains when he was a boy. So Lan Wei decides to try her luck in Liang Hu's
hometown. Please take care because two very poisonous spiders will appear
in the cave when you are completing this task. Back in Cloud Rose Village,
Lan Wei hears that her beloved uncle, Chi Huan, has died. He was bitten by
poisonous bugs. Ah Dan used to catch bugs for Chi Huan, and he says this
kind of bug actually is very difficult to find, so there must have been
somebody who murdered Chi Huan. Linking this to Ying Zheng's dispatching
envoys to induce a capitulation, and the mysterious death of Lan Xiong,
everyone feels suspicious. Lan Wei is firmly determined to find the other
four pieces of the Empyrean Stone for her beloved father, and uncle Chi
Huan.
Out of Cloud Rose Village all the way to the north it is Heaven's Summit,
and forward it is Ancient Path. When Lan Wei asked Liang Hu why he had
chosen to come to Baiyue, scenes of betting with his friend when he was
young, began to occur to his mind. They bet that the loser should jump off
the cliff if either of them was defeated in the martial arts competitions.
Liang Hu lost the bet, but luckily for him, he was caught up in a tree
halfway down the cliff. Afterwards, he wandered alone to Baiyue. Now Lan
Wei and Liang Hu are on Ancient Path. Here they meet Cai Xin, from whom
they learn that a Qin force was attacking Giant Keep Village and Cai Xin
herself was then going to Cloud Rose Village for help. Then Lan Wei and
others hurry to Giant Keep Village and kill the Qin invaders( the follow-up
plots won't occur unless the Qin force is annihilated completely). Then
they meet the head of Giant Keep Village, who later shows his great
gratitude to Cai Xin. Cai Xin's father was a Qin man, so villagers had
been treating her harshly. But in this time of emergency Cai Xin risked
her life to seek reinforcements and everyone feels grateful. They also
feel surprised at the timely help from Lan Wei and her companions. Lan Wei
tells the village head that her father and Uncle Chi Huan were dead, and
she was here now in search of the Empyrean Stones. The village head replies
that they once had one of the Empyrean Stones, but unfortunately it had
just been stolen by the Qin soldiers. He also heard that the stone was
going to be sent to Huan Qi, a Qin general in Jiuyuan City. Huan Qi? That
is Cai Xin's father's name! Not wanting to miss the opportunity to find
out if this is her father, Cai Xin joins Lan Wei in heading for Jiuyuan
City. Before going, Cai Xin goes to her mother's grave to part with her,
telling her mother that she is going to look for father in the Central
Plains.
Branch 8: At the altar in Giant Keep Village, Lan Wei meets the wizard,
who tells her that the Vessel of War has gone missing, and he suspects
Lin Fen, saying Lin Fen might be embittered about her title of witch
being removed and she was just retaliating. At the mountain at the back
of Giant Keep Village they meet Lin Fen, who is sacrificing with the
Vessel of War. Then there is a fierce fight. Lin Fen is defeated, but
she says Lan Wei is facing big trouble. There used to be many giants
sealed in the cavern in the mountain, and it was required that there be
a sacrificial ceremony every three years to ensure the giants won't
break the seal. Today was the time for another sacrificial ceremony,
but the newly appointed wizard forgot all about it. So Lin Fen stole
the Vessel of War and sacrificed here. Now that the magic was
interrupted the giants would soon be breaking out of the cavern. Lin
Fen asks Lan Wei and her followers to ask for help from the village
and leave her here to fight against the giants. After killing one
giant, everyone leaves Lin Fen alone there and hurries to the village
to give the alarm. In the village, the wizard tells them that Lin Fen
would probably sacrifice herself to seal the giants, so once again
people follow Lan Wei back to the mountain to give a hand. But they
are too late. The giants are sealed successfully but Lin Fen has lost
her life. At her last gasp, Lin Fen asks Lan Wei to send word to the
villagers that the giants should be sealed every three years. Lan Wei
goes back to the village with the Vessel of War. People all feel
regretful that they had misunderstood Lin Fen and they decide to
sacrifice on time every three years.
Branch 9: Near a house already burnt to the ground sits a villager,
staring blankly forward. He says his diamond and crystal jade had been
inside the house and it must have been burnt already. Lan Wei tells him
that crystal jade couldn't be burnt according to the five-element
theory. Stepping into the room, as expected, they really find the
crystal jade (to find the crystal jade the team is required to be
level seven or above).

VIII. Chapter 3 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
Out of Giant Keep Village it is Ancient Path, and all the way to the
west it is Red Clay Village. It is Qin territory. There are three
villagers on guard at the side of the village. They stop Lan Wei and
her companions from passing. They try every possible way to persuade
the villagers and at last they are permitted to get across. But they
could only have a short stay.
Most of the villagers are not friendly to Lan Wei and other Baiyue
people. They seem to be afraid of them. While Lan Wei herself doesn't
plan to stay here long, she prepares to go up to Wuxian County from
the exit on the right side. At the side of the village they meet a boy
called Little Stone. The boy begins to chat with them confidently. To
prove himself clever, the boy offers a riddle, while Yan Hong pretends
not to be able to answer, just to delight him. After talking to the boy,
they leave Redclay Village. Suddenly they hear someone crying for help,
so Lan Wei and her followers hurry back to the village, only to find
some gangsters there. The gangsters have killed Little Stone, the boy who
was calling for help. In a violent rage, Yan Hong kills the gangsters.
The villagers become friendly to Lan Wei's group for they have helped
them wipe out the gangsters. So now they could rove around in the
village and talk freely with the villagers (the branch task will not
be finished unless this plot is completed).
Branch 1: The group comes to the tavern. Yan Hong asks for some wine,
but unfortunately the wine is sold out. The shopkeeper advises them
to go to Wang Er's, for all the wine in his shop is provided by Wang
Er. Meeting Wang Er, you will be told that his wine is always being
stolen mysteriously in recent days. It turns out to be the bats in
the storehouse. It is them who drink the wine. Killing the bats, you
will be rewarded with some wine by Wang Er, and you will also be
rewarded with some gold if you kill the bats in the loft of the tavern.
Branch 2: Talking to the villager in the north, you see he lost the
axe when cutting firewood. Go to entrance to the village, find the
axe on the tree and hand it to the villager. The tree is on the left
side of the entrance.
Branch 3: Talking to the hunter, you see the black bears were becoming
too cunning to be caught recently. To find that out, you go to the jungle
to the right side of the village entrance, but on the way on two occasions
you fall into the trap. Then the black bear appears. This is a very
strange bear because he can even talk. He says he is a clever bear, and
complains that Lan Wei has destroyed his traps which are actually set for
the hunters. Choices will appear during your talk with the bear, from which
please choose "However, you can save me a lot of trouble by volunteering
to give me your fur. I must use it to make a dress, you see", then you can
get three pieces of skin from the bear.
Branch 4: Go to the north of the village you will meet a child, looking
rather scared. Liang Hu judges intuitively that something bad must have
happened. Taking the child with them to Whitesand Valley, they find the
Qin soldiers, as expected. After killing the Qin soldiers they find a man
lying dead in the corner of the courtyard. He seems to be the child's
father. In the hand of the man, there is a piece of red jade. Show the
jade to the child and he will lead you back to Redclay Village. After a
talk with the child in the village, he will give the jade to you.
Branch 5: Completing Branch 4, now you have got the red jade. Go to
Whitesand Valley to meet a man called Jiang Tuo, from whom you will know
the red jade is the legendary Blood Jade, which can be used for avoiding
evil (better complete these branch tasks, and Jiang Tuo will appear again
in many of the following branch tasks).
Branch 6: Leaving Redclay Village again all the way to the east, you will
see a scholar lying on the ground at his last gasp, a parcel in his arms.
Talking with him, Lan Wei finds out his name is Li Yi. A bunch of gangsters
were chasing him just for his parcel. Then the gangsters appear, and Lan
Wei, together with her companions wipe them out. Then Lan Wei tells Li Yi
that it is not wise to risk his life just for a parcel. Li Yi tells her
that it is actually the money he earned with his sworn brother, Wang Ren.
He is going to send the money to Jiuyuan City. Deeply moved by Li Yi's
honesty, Lan Wei makes up her mind to help him send the money. Then Li Yi
closes his eyes and passes away.
Lan Wei's group leaves Redclay Village for Wuxian County. On the way they
meet a very strange old man. After a talk with him they find out he is
Cheng Yu. He tells the group that he is also interested in the Empyrean
Stones and he has got some books on the Empyrean Stones at his home in Jin
Yang City. Cheng Yu invites them to his home to take a look at the books.
Lan Wei readily agrees.
No sooner have they reached Wuxian County than the group meets a young
lad who is being chased by a gang of Qin soldiers. From talking with him
they discover he is called Jing Jun. He is going to send a message. The
Qin soldiers didn't kill Jing Jun before simply because they want to see
who he is going to send the message to. Lan Wei's group just appeared then,
so the Qin soldiers assumed that they were the addressees. After killing
the Qin soldiers, in the talk with Jing Jun they find out he is Jing Ke's
younger brother. Now he is severely injured. On his deathbed Jing Jun asks
Lan Wei to send the letter to Gai Nie who is in Yuci, telling Gai Nie to
assist Jing Ke in his attempt to assassinate Ying Zheng, the King of Qin.
Lan Wei agrees to help.
Branch 7: It is getting dark when they arrive in Wuxian County, so Lan Wei
decides to start off the next day. After a talk with a young man in the
village they decide to put up for the night in Yang Jie's house. Yang Jie
says that a thief called Han Xing has been coveting his jewelry, and he is
going to steal it tonight. Lan Wei agrees to help watch over it. However,
nothing happens. Nobody comes to steal the jewelry. On the following
morning, Lan Wei is told by Yang Jie that he has passed the jewelry to his
younger brother, Yang Qiang for safekeeping. Lan Wei and her companions
then hurry to Yang Qiang's house, only to find he has been beaten up and
the Rainbow Jade has been stolen. Then they go back to tell Yang Jie about
this. In a flash, Yang Jie realizes that the servant in his house is really
Han Xing in disguise. Luckily his brother is safe, so Yang Jie decides not
to follow it up. While Lan Wei feels very resentful, thinking once she has
the chance, she will teach him a lesson.
Leaving Wuxian County and passing Blackwind Woods, they reachYuci, where
they encounter Yin Cheng. Lan Wei tells Yin Cheng what has happened
concerning Cheng Yu, but Yin Cheng reminds her to beware of trickery.
Originally Lan Wei thought it would be very easy to deliver Gai Nie a
message, but later she finds it is very difficult to find him in Yuci.
She turns to the people in the town for help, but thinking Lan Wei is
from Baiyue, they become skeptical and refuse to tell her anything. Later
they find an old man. He is blind so he can't recognize they are from
Baiyue. From the old man Lan Wei finds out there is a man named Shuang
Yang by the side of the river in the north of the town. Meeting Shuang
Yang in the north of the town, Cai Xin recognizes him at the very first
sight. He is Gai Nie. Then they convey Jing Jun's message to him. But to
their surprise, Gai Nie won't leave Yuci, because he wants to take care
of his pregnant wife. Leaving Gai Nie's house, they hear Gai Nie and his
wife quarreling. Gai Nie's wife is a woman who understands clearly what
is important and what is not, and she thinks Gai Nie should go to help
Jing Ke instead of looking after her at home.
It is getting dark again, and the group go to a small inn to put up for the
night. During the night Lan Wei gets up while everyone else is asleep and tries
to practice magic, but she is found by Yan Hong. Actually Lan Wei takes it to
heart very much that Yan Hong got wounded when protecting her, and she simply
wants to become more powerful. When she is talking with Yan Hong, Liang Hu and
Cai Xin appear, telling them that the Qin soldiers have surrounded Gai Nie's
house and they are pressuring Gai Nie to surrender or else they will kill his
wife. Unwilling to get her husband into trouble, Gai Nie's wife kills herself.
Afterwards Lan Wei and her group annihilate the Qin soldiers. In the great
grief of losing his wife, Gai Nie is thinking of suicide. Everyone tries every
possible means to dissuade him and in the end Gai Nie makes a decision to help
Jing Ke assassinate the King of Qin, to avenge his dead wife and Jing Jun.
Learning that Lan Wei's group is going to Jiuyuan City, Gai Nie decides to join
them.
Branch 8: There is Tiger Fish cave at the village side of Yuci. From a dealer
named Xu Wen near the Tiger Fish cave they find out the Tiger Fish in the cave
are very poisonous and they have to buy some antidote from the dealer. The
antidotes of Xu Wen are of two kinds. One costs 50 gold while the other 1000
gold. The one costing 50 gold is the authentic antidote while the other is
fake, but only buying the fake antidote can trigger the following plots (those
who buy the expensive antidote are wealthy, and thus swindlers will think they
can cheat them). Then buy the fake antidote, enter the cavern and you will find
it ineffective. Now you will try to leave the cavern from the left side, where
you will meet Xu Wen, who is thinking the guys who take the fake antidote now
are already killed and he is going inside to fetch the money. In a fury, Lan
Wei beats Xu Wen up ferociously and at last she gets the real antidote from him.
Branch 9: This task won't appear until branch 8 is finished. There is a
worn-out chest under the tree in the village, rather breakable. Now a man named
Xu Wu appears. He insists that as Lan Wei has broken the offering he made for
the God of the Mountain he must have compensation (please don't pay it). After
a long negotiation Lan Wei decides to fetch him the spare offering kept in the
northern room of the tavern. Entering that room Lan Wei finds a pot, which is
so broken that it will fall into pieces once touched. Then a man called Xu Cai
turns up. He demands compensation from Lan Wei. Lan Wei has no choice but to
give him some money. Stepping out of the room, Lan Wei finds what has happened
today is so weird. So she decides to investigate it. From inside a dwelling in
the south of the village, Lan Wei hears the conversation between Xu Wen, Xu Wu
and Xu Cai. They turn out to be brothers and it is they who planned everything.
Breaking into the room, Lan Wei and her companions kill the three cheaters.

IX. Chapter 4 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
Leaving Yuci, and passing Jingyang, the group reach Jinyang. At the gate of the
town, thoughts of his parents being killed by the Qin soldiers again come into
Yan Hong's mind, and this makes him even more determined to take his revenge.
Quite different from the previous cities, Jinyang is a big place. It happens to
be market day, so the city is bustling with people going to the market. Cheng
Yu says that his home is just near a wineshop. Going along the road to the
north you reach his home, only to find nobody is in. After a talk with his
neighbours you know Cheng Yu is away at the moment for some urgent business.
Having not found Cheng Yu, they know it doesn't make any sense if they keep on
staying in Jinyang. Just on their leaving at the eastern gates of the city for
Jiuyuan City, they are recognized by Gai Nie, who is later known to be Zhang
Liang's friend. On hearing that Gai Nie is going to assist Jing Ke in his
planned assassination of Ying Zheng, the King of Qin, Zhang Liang advises him
not to take the risk. When it comes to the Empyrean Stones, Zhang Liang says
that his teacher, Ji Chen, owns one of the stones. Then Zhang Liang invites Lan
Wei's group to Yunzhong Village to pay a visit to Ji Chen. Then everybody
agrees to go there together the next morning.
Back at the inn, Yan Hong criticises Lan Wei for believing every word Zhang
Liang said. Cai Xin speaks up for Lan Wei, and gets into a quarrel with Yan
Hong herself over the "Qin people" issue. Cai Xin runs out, crying. Lan Wei,
together with Liang Hu and Gai Nie dash out of the house to chase after Cai
Xin, leaving Yan Hong in the room on his own to reflect on his behaviour.
Talking to the bellman, they find out that Cai Xin has run in the direction of
the city gates. Afterwards they meet an old gatekeeper, who tells them Cai Xin
has gone to the fields. Meeting Cai Xin in the fields, everyone tries to
comfort her. Now Yan Hong appears and makes his apology to her. Now the problem
is solved. Seeing that it's already near daybreak, they decide not to go back
to the inn. Instead, they start chatting in the fields. Gai Nie begins to
recollect the stories of his youth. His parents were both killed by the Huns
and it was his master who rescued him, taught him skills and betrothed him to
his daughter. It is so sad that he wasn't able to protect his wife...now the
day breaks and the group gather at the city gates to meet Zhang Liang, together
with whom they will head for Yunzhong Village.
Branch 1: At the tavern and some other places in the city you will hear that
the son of Peng Wudi in Peng Wudi's House has contracted a very strange
illness, and they are searching for a doctor. Coming to Peng Wudi's House in
the west of the city and meeting Peng Wudi as well as his sworn brother, Yi
Fei, Lan Wei promises to cure his son. In the patient's bedchamber, Lan Wei
discovers that he has been poisoned because his symptoms remind her of when she
once was poisoned in the Tiger Fish cave. In a flash she also remembers that
the cheater who sells fake medicine once told her about the prescription for
the antidote. It is Tiger Fish meat, the fruit of the wolfberry and snow lotus.
Giving this prescription to Peng Wudi, Lan Wei is asked to get Tiger Fish meat,
while the rest of the ingredients are left to Yi Fei. There is a Tiger Fish
cave in the southwest corner outside Peng Wudi's House. Go inside the cave and
kill the Tiger Fish, you will get the meat, but please note that there are two
kinds of Tiger Fish meat, and each kind has different uses, one is for the
treatment of the illness and the other is for enriching the blood. You can only
use the one that treats illness via talking with NPCs. To get the meat, you
have to kill the Tiger Fish in the deepest reaches of the cave. After getting
the meat and meeting Peng Wudi, Lan Wei is asked to prepare the antidote in the
kitchen. After talking to Yi Fei, Lan Wei goes to the west yard kitchen. At
last with the antidote they successfully cure the son of Peng Wudi. Back in
Peng Wudi's living room, Lan Wei tells him that his son's being poisoned was
not accidental and someone must have planned it. Then Peng Wudi asks Lan Wei to
investigate this, saying Yi Fei could assist her. Coming to Yi Fei's room to
make inquiries, Lan Wei finds nothing suspicious (now please continue to talk
with Yi Fei until he says "No, we haven't had any strangers visit us
recently."). Then talk to the chef,
keep talking to him until he says that the Peng family once employed two
craftsmen to make a folding screen and these two men once got him drunk during
a dinner. Having looked over the folding screen in the room, Lan Wei finds the
proof of poisoning. Immediately Lan Wei runs to ask Yi Fei about the two
craftsmen. From Yi Fei's ambiguous response Lan Wei finds out that the two men
are staying in the two guest rooms in the west yard. Now go to the craftsmen's
room and kill one of them. The other one is left to Yi Fei to deal with but he
escapes. After reporting this to Peng Wudi, Lan Wei's group sets off for
Jinyang. No sooner have they reached Jinyang than they are stopped by a young
man. After a fight with him Lan Wei realizes that Peng Wudi is in fact the
local tyrant. Then Lan Wei's group goes to Yi Fei's home to ask some questions
of his father and his wife. Afterwards they realize that they have helped the
wrong people. To help people get rid of the scourge of Peng Wudi, Lan Wei
decides to kill him. Back at Peng Wudi's House, they meet Yi Fei. Lan Wei says
to Yi Fei that he shouldn't have helped a tyrant to do evil, while Yi Fei
advises her not to interfere. Yi Fei seems to have some other intentions. Now a
fight begins between Yi Fei and Lan Wei. If Yi Fei is defeated, you can
directly break into the hall and kill Peng Wudi. If you lose it, Yi Fei will
laugh at you. But you can also kill Peng Wudi after Yi Fei leaves for Peng

Wudi's House. Then Lan Wei knows Yi Fei is also trying to kill Peng Wudi by
disguising himself as Peng Wudi's accomplice.
Branch 2: At the bottom of the market in the west of Jinyang you will meet Wei
Shen and Tian Mei. In order to cure Tian Mei, Wei Shen has racked his brains.
From some sources he heard that one-thousand-year ginseng could cure Tian Mei's
illness. So he has come to Jinyang. But unfortunately the ginseng was already
bought by Peng Wudi, who refuses to sell it to Wei Shen. Lan Wei decides to
help get the ginseng. Entering Peng Wudi's House, after the branch task one
there is a plot where Lan Wei goes to the kitchen to prepare the antidote.
There is a chest in the kitchen, and inside the chest the ginseng is just
there. Get the ginseng and send it to Wei Shen. In addition, from the ironsmith
in the market, you can learn some skills of forging.
Branch 3: In the city, Lan Wei's group meets a man selling swords and Gai Nie
is very interested. After a talk with him, Lan Wei is invited to the inn for
trading. The man wants to charge too much for the sword so they don't buy it.
Back on the ground floor to talk with the innkeeper, Lan Wei is told that
another man is also here to buy the sword. But to Lan Wei's surprise, she
doesn't see the man at all. She finds it strange and goes back to the upper
floor, only to find the seller has been seriously beaten up, and the sword
missing. Lan Wei knows it must be the robber Han Xing. After chasing him all
the way to the bushes in the north of the city, they finally catch Han Xing.
But it is a pity he escapes in the end though Lan Wei defeats him.
Together with Zhang Liang, Lan Wei's group passes through Tallcloud Mountain
and reaches Tallcloud Village. They meet the teacher of Zhang Liang, Ji Chen,
in the basement of whose house Lan Wei gets another piece of the Empyrean
Stone. Ji Chen says, in ancient times Chi You started a war with the Yellow
Emperor in order to enslave the human race. The war had lasted for hundreds of
years and finally ended up with the defeat of Chi You. On hearing that Gai Nie
is going to help assassinate the King of Qin, Ji Chen strongly suggests not
going. He says, if the assassination is successful, Fu Su will certainly
succeed to the throne. Fu Su is a clement, wise man, and under his leadership
the Qin can only become stronger; whilst if they fail in the assassination,
Ying Zheng will fly into a fury and will start to invade other countries all
the more rapidly. Leaving Tallcloud Village, the group makes its way in the
direction of Sky Lake Village.
Notice : Gaining Kun Wu's sword (Side Quest 6), affects the actual ending of
the game.
Branch 4: Lan Wei meets Mo Xian, a lady who is picking herbs by the river side.
Lan Wei agrees to help her find Ling Zhu Grass. Ling Zhu Grass grows just on
the opposite side of the river. Go to Bai Shan's in the village, you will see
he still needs 3 more Ling Zhu Grass, with which he will cure the sick
villagers. Go to the southern bank of the river and you will get the 3 Ling Zhu
Grass. Talk again with Mo Xian, you will find out that it is due to the
polluted river water that the villagers are getting poisoned. To find out why,
Lan Wei goes to the headstream of the river, where she finds a cave. In the
cave there is a Venom Demon. It is the Venom Demon that has poisoned the river.
Kill it and you will get the poisonous heart. Talk to Mo Xian and go back to
meet Bai Shan. Bai Shan tries the ingredients and gets poisoned whilst
preparing the antidote. Now the antidote is ready and Lan Wei promises him to
send it to the people in the village. The patients in Mo Xian's room need one
share of the antidote each, and the patients in another house need two shares
each. Afterwards from the talk with Bai Shan Lan Wei knows that he is a
descendant of the famous general, Bai Qi, who had taken so many lives, and to
atone for this, he has chosen to be a doctor and save lives. If you have talked
to Jiang Tuo in in Whitesand Valley, now you can find him at the entrance of
the village. He will prepare the antidote to cure Bai Shan with the heart of
the Venom Demon. Talk to Mo Xian before you cure Bai Shan.
(In a bizarre note, if you talk to Bai Shan first before you get the grass,
upon getting the grass, Lan Wei will just get poisoned and you will not get the
grass. Basically failing you the quest.)
Branch 5: When you arrive at Sky Lake Village, please go to the northernmost
forest of the village, where you will meet a boy who has lost his way. He
fought with the boy next door and left his family. Back in the village talk to
a villager, you are told that the villager's son has left home and has gone
missing. Go back to the forest and take the boy back to his home.
Branch 6: It is getting dark. Talk to old man Zhao and you can stop at his
house for the night. Now a crowd of bandits rush into the village. They force
the villagers to move from their houses. People fight against them and finally
defeat them. The head of the gangsters named Ling Yan claims that he is the
only person who is able to prevent Sky Lake from being dried up. At the bank of
Sky Lake, Ling Yan tells Lan Wei about the story of Sky Lake Sword Tomb and the
two celestial animals, Ice Guardian and Fire Guardian. At the bottom of the
lake the Kun Wu sword can be found. It is the sword that Chi You once used.
Originally Ice Guardian and Fire Guardian were here watching over it, but later
Ice Guardian was killed by someone. Now with only Fire Guardian watching over
the sword, Sky Lake is fast disappearing because of a drought. The only way to
prevent the lake from being dried up is to kill Fire Guardian. Now everyone
gathers at Sky Lake. Go down to the maze underground and find Fire Guardian.
Kill Fire Guardian and you will get Fire Jade and scale. Go back to meet Ling
Yan. He wants the Fire Jade. He is the one who killed Ice Guardian. Beat him
and you get Ice Crystal. With Fire Jade and Ice Crystal you now go to the
bottom of the lake again. With them you can open the Sky Lake Sword Tomb and
gain Kun Wu's sword (put the Ice Crystal on the left and Fire Jade on the
right).
Branch 7: At the entrance of the Sky Lake village you meet Wei Shen and Tian
Mei again. The one-thousand year old ginseng helped her, but only temporarily.
So they have traveled to the village again in search of the Hui Tian Grass. You
can buy the grass at the price of 2000 gold from Li San. If you do not wish to
pay the 2000, You can exchange the scale of the Fire Guardian for the Hui Tian
grass with Li San in the village. (See side quest 6) Then hand the Hui Tian
Grass to Wei Shen.
Branch 8: After you defeat Ling Yan, he will tell you that he is actually here
to search for his younger sister, Ling Xiu. He will show Lan Wei the keepsake,
Longevity Charm. Talk to the bandit who is wounded in the encampment and the
villagers and you will speculate that Ling Yan's sister is in fact Zhao Ling,
the adopted daughter of Old Man Zhao. At the house of Old Man Zhao, you can
reunite brother and sister.
Lan Wei's group leaves Sky Lake Village, passes Tallcloud Village and reaches
Tallcloud Mountain. Here they meet Cheng Yu accidentally, who is lying on the
ground, seriously hurt. Gai Nie proposes to take him home to Jinyang, and Lan
Wei agrees, while Yan Hong doesn't want to bother to do so, for he thinks Cheng
Yu is not a man who can be trusted.
At Cheng Yu's home in Jinyang, Lan Wei finds some bamboo tablets, most of the
words on which have already been scraped off. But Lan Wei recognized some
letters saying "Xing Tian". She doesn't understand this. Lan Wei sends for a
doctor for Cheng Yu. The doctor tells them Cheng Yu isn't seriously injured so
he will be alright the next morning if he takes some medicine. Then Lan Wei
leaves for the inn, planning to come to see Cheng Yu the next day. Stepping
away from Cheng Yu's house she meets Yin Cheng, who says the city has imposed a
curfew for all residents, and advises her not to wander about in the city. Lan
Wei tells him about taking Cheng Yu back home, and this surprises Yin Cheng.
Back in the inn, Lan Wei inquires of the innkeeper about the curfew. From the
innkeeper Lan Wei finds out that Jing Ke failed in his attempt to assassinate
the King of Qin. Gai Nie is very sad about this. At midnight Gai Nie gets up
and drinks alone. It's obvious that Jing Ke's death is a great shock to him.
Cai Xin comes to cheer him up and then Lan Wei appears. Lan Wei asks him to
search for the Empyrean Stones with her, and he agrees. Simultaneously, a viper
appears in Cheng Yu's house, crawling to his bed...
The next morning at Cheng Yu's home, Cheng Yu is found dead on his bed. The
doctor says the viper that has killed Cheng Yu actually is quite rare. Then Lan
Wei's group leaves Jinyang, passes Tallcloud Mountain and gets to Lucky Sun
Village. Just stepping into the village they find a squad of Qin soldiers
trying to drive away the villagers. Thinking the Qin soldiers are press-ganging
labourers, Lan Wei's group attacks them. When the fight ends up with the
triumph of the Lan Wei's group, they begin to realize that it is simply a
misunderstanding, and the soldiers are part of Fu Su's army, who are here to
exterminate the local bandits under the leadership of General Huan Feng. For
fear that they might hurt the people by mistake, they are trying to move them
to Jiuyuan City, but some vigorous young men insist on staying and joining
them. This is the cause of the bustup. Now that everything is clear, they are
reconciled. Then Huan Feng leaves. But his name reminds Cai Xin's of her
father, Huan Qi...
Branch 9: In the middle room you find the Qin general here to take over Huan
Feng's position. He was previously a civilian and he doesn't know anything
about warfare. Now Lan Wei has to take the initiative to kill the head of the
bandits, Wu Hai.

X. Chapter 5 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
From Jiyang Village all the way to the north is Xiangye. Passing Xiangye, Lan
Wei's group comes to the east of Jiuyuan City. From the Qin soldiers on watch
they find out that the Huns are going to invade, so the eastern, western, and
the northern gates of the city have been closed. This really worries Lan Wei
because they are intending to set off for Fang-Horn Village from the northern
gates. Now that they can't leave, they might as well stay for a while. After a
short stay in the inn, Liang Hu recalls the days when he was a small boy
wandering around in Jiuyuan City. He was beaten black and blue by the local
ruffians. Fortunately a kind old man took Liang Hu to his home, healed his
injuries and sent him to the Central Plains. This is the reason why he is now
in Baiyue. Liang Hu says he will never forget his kindness though he doesn't
even know his name. His companions all agree that not all the Qin people are
bad, sighing with emotion.
The group come to the gates of the General's residence in the west of the city.
The soldiers tell them that only with the authorization of Huan Qi and Fu Su
can they pass through the northern gates. Seeing it is so difficult, they
decide to sleep on it in the inn. Back in the inn, Yan Hong comes up with an
idea, he proposes to steal the pass in the General's house and whilst there
they can also look for the Empyrean Stone. Nobody approves of the decision
because they think their sneaking out of the city may lead to the invasion of
the Huns. Seeing nobody agrees with him, he sits there silently, thinking of
other methods.
Around midnight, Yan Hong is nowhere to be found. Needless to say, he must be
in the General's residence. Everyone gets out of bed and hurries to give him a
hand. Soldiers enforcing the curfew are everywhere in the city, so don't stir
up any trouble, just run to the General's house. Arriving there, Lan Wei's
group finds Yan Hong is already under attack by the Qin soldiers. Everyone is
worried. At this time Prince Fu Su appears. He invites everyone into his
residence to have a talk. Inside Fu Su tells them that he himself doesn't
approve of the plan of invading Baiyue, but the King persists in taking the
advice of some traitororous ministers. For his insubordination, he himself was
transferred to Jiuyuan City to direct the army at this time of the Hun's
invasion. Yan Hong tells Fu Su that there is a very urgent matter, and that is
the reason why he broke into the residence to steal the pass. Fu Su criticizes
him for ignoring the safety of the whole city. Yan Hong is very ashamed and
keeps silent. Everyone present is deeply moved by Fu Su's concern for the
people. Gai Nie says he has something to give to General Huan Qi, but Fu Su
tells him that Huan Qi is away checking on the military situation. So they can
come over to meet him the next morning.
Back in the inn, Lan Wei is very critical of Yan Hong for being so impulsive
and taking on all the risk and danger alone. She also asks Yan Hong to take
care of himself for her, saying he is now the only one for her to rely on. Lan
Wei gives Yan Hong the Colored Arm Band. At the same time, Cai Xin is feeling
uneasy upstairs. Tomorrow she is going to meet Huan Qi. She is worrying whether
he will recognize her as his daughter. Then Gai Nie comes to soothe her worries.
The next day, Lan Wei's group comes to the General's residence to meet Huan Qi.
All those year ago, Huan Qi had to leave his wife for the sake of her own
security. Afterwards he had sneaked back, but he found his wife had died while
giving birth to Cai Xin. So he thought Cai Xin had also died. That is why he
never again went back to Baiyue. Now Lan Wei asks him about the Empyrean
Stones. He replies that he is also here to search for the stone on the orders
of the King, and Fu Su doesn't even know about this. The King of Qin is also
seeking potions for everlasting life. When he learns that Lan Wei's group is
searching for the stone, Huan Qi offers his Empyrean Stone, as some
compensation to Cai Xin and her mother. By this time, a soldier comes in and
reports that Huan Feng has been captured by the Hun soldiers, and Fu Su has
hurried to the eastern gates, asking Huan Qi to come at once. Outside the
eastern gates, the Huns are demanding that Huan Qi surrender, while Huan Feng
is not scared at all. He asks his father not to give in to the enemy. Having
not attained their goal, the Huns depart hauling off Huan Feng with them. Fu Su
and Huan Qi go back to the mansion to think of some countermeasures. Gai Nie
suggests killing the Hun general, Ye Heyu. Only in this way can they force the
Hun army back, but everyone feels that they should ask for Fu Su's advice
first. Coming to the general's mansion, Lan Wei finds that each of Fu Su and
Huan Qi are insisting on assassinating the Hun general personally. At this
time, Lan Wei comes out boldly, saying she will do it. Now Lan Wei faces two
options. One is to go with Gai Nie and Cai Xin, kill Ye Heyu in the Hun
encampment, and discover the plan of attack against Jiuyuan City formulated by
Zhao Gao and the Huns. The other is to watch over Jiuyuan City with Yan Hong
(just stick to staying at the city gates for a period of time until the Huns
retreat, and the time remaining will be shown at the top right of the screen).
Before the group departs from Fu Su, Gai Nie expresses his wish that Fu Su will
look after the interests of the ordinary people, and Cai Xin says goodbye to
her father. Now that the Huns have beaten a retreat, the whole city is filled
with great joy, but Zhao Gao is not happy about this. He is the traitor who has
colluded with the Huns in the plot to invade the city. Now the three city gates
that were once closed are re-opened. Lan Wei's group makes preparations to set
off from the northern gates to Fang-Horn Village,Liang Hu's hometown. On the
way they find a Hun sword at Beigu Grasslands, which they think must have been
left by the Hun troops in their retreat ( you will also meet Jiang Tuo here
later) . Gai Nie admires Fu Su very much and he states that for the sake of the
interests of the people, he is willing to abandon personal enmity. Hearing
this, Lan Wei is moved. Keep on walking forward and Galetown is ahead. Liang
Hu's hometown is near at hand.
Branch 1 : At the eastern gates of Jiuyuan City there is a boy. He is the
servant of a local merchant prince. He says he lost the censer which his master
had handed to him for safe keeping. Lan Wei agrees to help him (this task
cannot be finished if not received before relieving the siege of Jiuyuan City).
Coming to the merchant's home, Lan Wei knows that the child of the merchant has
been longing for a clay doll, and the child once said that he was going to make
himself a clay doll out of the ashes of incense in the censer with some water.
Lan Wei guesses that the loss of the censer must be related to the child. Now
there are two solutions. One is to buy the child a clay doll from the street
vendor downtown; the other one is to threaten the child and talk to the
servant. In either way you will obtain the information that the censer is kept
in the warehouse nearby. Go to the warehouse, get the censer and hand it over
to the boy servant.
Branch 2: In the western part of Jiuyuan City is Wang Ren's home. Hand the
parcel over to Wang Ren's wife and tell her about the death of her husband.
From her you find out Li Yi's home is just nearby. Go to Li Yi's house and tell
his wife about the story of Li Yi. You can also give her some money.
Branch 3: After relieving the seige Jiuyuan City, the group meet a local
captain in the southern part of Eastern Jiuyuan City, who says he will offer a
reward to anyone who catches the thief Han Xing. Lan Wei promises him to help.
In the tavern, an old man offers Lan Wei some jewelry. After talking with him,
Lan Wei goes upstairs. Now she finds her money is missing. Han Xing must be
operating around here, she guesses. Stepping downstairs, she finds some
traveling merchants have also had valuables stolen. Lan Wei has a good idea.
She pretends that she will keep a very valuable parcel at the tavern. Then she
takes a walk outside. When she gets back to the tavern, she finds the parcel
has gone. The keeper tells her that she has already taken the parcel away. Lan
Wei realizes that it is Han Xing again. He simply disguises himself with make
up. Knowing this, everyone rushes upstairs and stops Han Xing who is disguised
as an old man, but he manages to escape in the end. Lan Wei believes that he
cannot be hiding so far away, so she begins to search for him in the city. Near
a house in the northwest corner she meets a woman who is washing clothes. She
says she is now employed by the Han family. Though the housework is not heavy,
the pay is quite satisfactory. From the woman's words, Lan Wei feels that Han
Xing must be associated with the Han family. Going inside the house she finds
Han Xing. He is also looking after a lot of orphans. That's why he has been
stealing from others to make a living. Now you can choose either to kill him or
let him go. If you kill him, you can get a reward from the local captain by
handing him the head of Han Xing. If you set him free, lie to the local captain
saying Han Xing has fallen off the cliff and died. In this way you can also
complete this task, but you cannot get any reward. Whether you choose to kill
him or not, you will get from his house the jewels that have been stolen. Go
back to the tavern and return them to the traveling merchants.
Branch 4: After you finish relieving Jiuyuan City from the seige by the Huns,
you will meet an incurable old man in a house near the front gate of the
General's residence in the west of Jiuyuan City. The old man is trying to find
his old friend with whom he has lost touch years ago, but now he is very sick
and bed ridden. Lan Wei promises to help him. Then the old man will send Lan
Wei a half ring as a keepsake. Step away from the room and set off for Jiuyuan
City in the west, find the friend of the old man in front of a house in the
northernmost part and you will get the other part of the ring from him. Please
note that the time is limited in this task. So once you accept this task,
finish it as soon as possible. There are many bandits in Jiuyuan City, so on
one hand, you should pay attention to the old man's security, on the other
hand, remember not to get involved with the bandits for too long because the
time is limited.
Branch 5: Meeting a hunter in Galetown, who is afraid of going home because
there is a snake in his house, Lan Wei promises to help. Please remember to
save the game before entering the room, for the snake appears randomly. If you
can't find the snake, load the game and try a second time.
Branch 7: In Galetown Lan Wei meets two men quarrelling. One insists that his
wood should be better, while the other one insists that his bronze should be
better. They ask Lan Wei to be the judge. During the talk with them separately,
please choose the option saying that each of their stuff is very precious. Now
according to your needs, choose to talk with either of them. As long as you
admit that his stuff is better than the other's, you can buy it at a very low
price of 5000 gold.
Branch 8: In Galetown Lan Wei meets a man who is trying to sell off his Rainbow
Jade. To cure his sick son, he needs the money urgently. But the merchant
offers a very low price. Now there are three options. One is to buy the jade at
10000 gold, another one is to give the man 3000 gold gratuitously, and the last
one is to go and meet the merchant in the shop and lie to him telling that you
can buy from him the jade at a top price. This may lead him to buy the jade.

XI. Chapter 6 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
They reach Fang-Horn Village eventually. Just stepping into the village Liang
Hu meets Wu Tong, an old childhood friend. The friend joyously rushes to Liang
Hu's home to tell his parents the good news. Liang Hu goes back to his home. It
is really an emotional family reunion. Liang Hu mentions to his parents about
the Empyrean Stones. From his parents he learns that the present leader Wu Jing
is away, and Tie Lang seems unconvinced by this newly appointed leader. For
further knowledge about the Empyrean Stones, you can turn to Wizard Bright
Spring.
From Wizard Bright Spring they learn that the Empyrean Stone is kept in the
sanctum of the clan and it is accessible only with the permission of the clan
leader. Besides, Wizard Bright Spring says that he will perform the magic of
predicting the future, but he needs the horns of the Fire Demon in the
Brightflame Cave. Of course this is Lan Wei's job. From Fang-Horn Village all
the way to the west, passing Snakespit Cliff, Lan Wei reaches Goose Swain
Mountains. The Fire Demon is at the end of the Brightflame Cave. There are four
storeys in all in Brightflame Cave. The landform there is not complex, but the
monsters can self-destruct and that's very powerful. Now everyone gets to the
fourth storey, only to find it vacant. Just as they are wondering, the Fire
Demon appears and starts to attack them. People fight together against it and
finally defeat it. Taking its horns, they go back to Fang-Horn Village to hand
them over toWizard Bright Spring. With the horns Wizard Bright Spring begins
his magic. But he can see nothing except some dark shadows, explosions and
smirking faces. Everyone begins to feel at a loss, then they hear people
quarrelling loudly. They rush out to find out what is happening. It is the
villagers from Woodleaf Village nearby. They are here to make a protest, saying
that the chief of Fang-Horn Village has poisoned their village, and they want
the antidote. Whereas the villagers from Fang-Horn Village think that their
leader would never do such a thing. So Lan Wei decides to investigate this
herself in Woodleaf Village.
After making some inquiries from the village head of Woodleaf Village, she
finds three newcomers to the village suspicious. They are Lu Sheng, Lu Ning and
Qiao Zhen. Lu Sheng and Lu Ning are alchemists, and Qiao Zhen is a doctor.
First go and investigate in Qiao Zhen's house. He is sleeping soundly in bed,
green pills scattered on the radishes that are heaped up on the floor. Lan Wei
picks up some of the pills and takes them to the keeper of the herbal medicine
shop in the village, Mr. Han, but he finds they are not poisonous at all. Then
people go to the well to make an investigation. It is the only well in the
village. On the surface of the water Cai Xin finds some dead ants and gray ash.
People take the ash to Mr. Han again for testing. Then he tells them that the
components of the ash cannot be identified in a short time, but it is certain
that there is arsenic in it. It is heard that Lu Ning used to make pills of
immortality with arsenic, so he seems to be the suspect. Going to Lu Ning's
house, people really find some gray ash on his stove. Going to Lu Sheng's
house, people find some leaves stuck to the bucket with some honey on them, and
there is a piece of cloth with some arsenic on it, too. Afterwards, Lan Wei
points out to the village head that Lu Ning is the prime suspect. Lu Ning
certainly denies this. It turns out that Lu Sheng has been trying to frame him.
Now a villager comes to report that Lu Sheng has escaped in the direction of
Binding-Beast Tower with Dragon Horn. Lu Sheng and Lu Ning actually are pupils
of the same master. They both came to Woodleaf Village with the aim of gaining
Dragon Horn, but Lu Ning gave it up when he saw that Dragon Horn was the sacred
relic of that village. Lu Sheng envies Lu Ning in that Lu Ning always receives
great recognition while he thinks he is actually much better than Lu Ning in
all aspects. Now he is trying to prepare the Pills of Immortality with Dragon
Horn, and in this way he thinks he will make a great achievement. Additionally,
he says that he has controlled the leader of the Beastman with toxic drugs.
With these words, he escapes into Binding-Beast Tower. People follow him and
defeat him inside Binding-Beast Tower on the third storey. Lu Sheng wouldn't
surrender and offer the antidote. Lu Ning comes and pleads with Lan Wei to give
him another chance, but Lu Sheng feels no gratitude to him at all and escapes
hurriedly dropping the antidote on the ground. With the antidote, Wu Jing is
saved. Wu Jing invites everybody to gather round at Beastman Clan Village.
Dragon Horn is returned to the village head, and all the argument are settled.
Branch 1: Meet Tie Lang and talk to him in the village. He asks Liang Hu to
compete with him. But Liang Hu is no longer as combative as before, so he
refuses him.
Branch 2: At the centre of Fang-Horn Village you meet a little girl, and you
can play guessing games with her.
The answer to her riddle is "Shadow".
Branch 3: Inside the Tree House you meet Silver Fox, who says her daughter
Nannan has been away at her younger sister, Pine Fox's house for a long time
and she is worried about her. People agree to help her. They come to Pine Fox's
house only to find Nannan has already left. Coming out of the house, they find
the child alone in an old building. She is afraid of going back home because
she has forgotten to take the rag doll. Now you can choose either to go back to
Pine Fox's house to fetch her the doll or escort her home.
Branch 4: At Xiao Ye's home in the village, his mother says the child has been
away in the mountains hunting for quite a long time, and Uncle Biao has gone to
search for him. Lan Wei decides to help her search for the boy. In the cave of
the mountain at the back of the village, Lan Wei finds an iron paw and a piece
of bone. Take them to Xiao Ye's mother. She will tell you that the iron paw is
Xiao Ye's while the bone is not. Then go back to the mountain again and meet a
monster. Defeat it and it will escape into the cave. Follow it and you will
find Xiao Ye inside. Xiao Ye pleads with Lan Wei to release the monster because
it is the monster that has rescued him. Now you can choose to kill it or let it
go. By the way, if you meet Uncle Biao before seeing Xiao Ye's mother, you can
also receive the task of searching for Xiao Ye and killing the monster.
Branch 5: At the cantonment of the Fang-Horn Village you will meet an injured
beastman soldier. By this time if you have got the medicine ( find out the
criminal who has poisoned Woodleaf Village, speak to the medicine shopkeeper
and you will get two shares of medicine ), you can give the soldier one share
of the medicine for treatment of his injury.
--------------------------------------------------------------
XII. Chapter 7 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
Go from Fang-Horn Village to the north, passing Snakespit Cliff and you will
reach the Beast Moot (please finish the branch tasks first, and part of the
tasks require that Liang Hu should be in the team ). Lan Wei goes inside the
tent and meets the leader, Wu Jing. He is grateful to Lan Wei's team for
rescuing him, but considering the interests of the whole clan, he refuses to
hand them the Empyrean Stone. Then he leaves. To steal the Empyrean Stone seems
the only method. But Liang Hu firmly disagrees and for this reason he leaves
the team. The team goes back to Fang-Horn Village in search of Liang Hu, and
they encounter Tie Lang, who is very dissatisfied with Wu Jing. He agrees to
help Lan Wei find the Empyrean Stone. Tie Lang hopes to make Wu Jing lose his
position as leader by stealing the Empyrean Stone. Go to the tent in the
Beastman's encampment. Tie Lang opens the hidden door and a secret path
appears. Follow this path and get the fourth piece of the Empyrean Stone. The
fifth piece of the Empyrean Stone is kept inside the Imperial Tomb which the
Beastman people have guarded for generations. Then the team leave the Beastman
clan for the Cliffs of the Emperor of Heaven in the west. At the northernmost
part of Heaven Earth Cliff they find three statues. After a careful study of
the middle statue, they find a button. Press that button and a guard beast
appears. Defeat it and you will get a green gem. Put that gem into the hole of
the statue and then another beast appears. Defeat it and you will get a blue
gem. Put the blue gem into the hole of the statue too and yet another guard
beast appears. Defeat it and you can get a red gem. Put the red gem into the
hole and the entrance of the tomb opens. Now Liang Hu comes over and joins the
team. There are six storeys in all in the Imperial Tomb and the beasts on guard
inside are very powerful. Struggle to the sixth storey, turn the four poles
that are set in the middle, and you will see an extremely strong beast. Defeat
it and open the stone coffin, from which you discover that there is another
sanctum inside. Enter it and gain the fifth piece of the Empyrean Stone. Walk
ahead and you can see an altar. Lan Wei cannot wait any longer to put the five
pieces of the Empyrean Stone into the altar and perform her magic to resurrect
her father. But now Wu Jing hurries in and stops her. He says the Empyrean
Stone cannot revive the dead at all. It is only the tool by which the Yellow
Emperor sealed Chi You's soul. Now that the seal is opened, the soul of Chi You
and his escorts have come to the world again. Yan Hong says that Chi You is the
God of War embraced by the Baiyue people, and he would never harm human beings.
But seeing the corpse escort soldiers everywhere, he has nothing more to say.
Wu Jing suggests everyone hurry to the ground quickly, saying Master Wu Zhen
and a Mr. Zhang are waiting there. Follow the same route, struggle to the
ground and you will meet Wu Zhen and Zhang Liang. Wu Zhen tells the ins and
outs of the story, and he suggests finishing two tasks. One is to go back to
the tomb and destroy the seal completely in order that no more escort soldiers
of Chi You will appear. The other is to hurry to Baiyue and destroy Chi You's
human body as soon as possible. Chi You for now is very weak because he is only
newly revived.
If Liang Hu has experienced the Trial of the Cave before, he will say that he
is willing to destroy the seal alone so that Lan Wei and the other people can
go to Baiyue for the other task. Now Tie Lang appears. He alleges that he is
the toughest beastman soldier, and it is his job to destroy the seal. Liang Hu
has to compete with him now. Tie Lang loses the fight. Now Liang Hu's parents
are coming to see their son off. Before Liang Hu enters the Imperial Tomb, Cai
Xin asks Liang Hu to take the Kun Wu sword with her, telling him that it would
be of help for it's the Yellow Emperor's sword. Now Liang Hu enters the tomb
while Lan Wei and the other companions begin their journey to South Sky
Mountains. At the deepest part of the Imperial Tomb, Liang Hu is viciously
attacked by the escorts of Chi You. He has to perform the magic of "Perishing
Together". The vibrancy from the magic is so great that Lan Wei could feel it
clearly far away. But she believes Liang Hu will be meeting them soon safe and
sound.
Branch 1: At Thunder Lion's house in the The Beastmoot, Lan Wei meets Wei Shen
who is still rushing about for the sick Tian Mei. The Retrieval Grass appears
ineffective. Thunder Lion refuses to cure Tian Mei only because she is from
Qin, however hard Wei Shen has tried pleading with him. At last Lan Wei
successfully persuades Lei Shi to help and Lei Shi gives a hand. After a while,
Lan Wei comes back to inquire about Tian Mei. Lei Shi says that he has tried
his best but his medicine can only supress the sickness, not cure it. In
addition, he says some doctor in Chengdu might be able to help (this task is to
be received and completed before Liang Hu leaves the team).
Branch 2: Lan Wei meets Wen Xiong, who says the liquor he bought has gone bad.
Thinking the Monkey Wine Chef Yao made for her is still with her, Lan Wei sends
him the wine(you can also send him the wine bought from Redclay Village).
Branch 3: Lan Wei meets an injured soldier at the encampment of the Beastman
Clan. Send him a share of the medicine which you got from Woodleaf Village.
Branch 4: Meet Lie Ying at the encampment of the Beastman Clan, who has a crush
on Yun Que but is too shy to express it. Liang Hu decides to send the necklace
to Yun Que for him. In return for this, Yun Que also gives Lie Ying a helmet
and an iron paw. Liang Hu delivers the presents to Lie Ying and expresses his
best wishes. If you meet Yun Que before Lie Ying, their presents will be
different.
Branch 5: At the encampment of the Beastman Clan Lan Wei's team knows that a
true Beastman soldier should pass the Trial of the Cave first. Liang Hu decides
to meet the challenge. Go to the east part of the village and you can arrive at
the cave. Only Liang Hu is allowed to enter the cave. Inside the cave, an old
man relates to Liang Hu the rules of the test. There are five five-element
soldiers in the cave, Water in the north, Wood in the east, Fire in the south
and Gold in the west. Talk with them(during the talk, don't choose the option
inquiring about the rules of the test), and choose one of them to compete with
you. After defeating the first soldier, ask him which to choose for the next.
After you defeat them all, you can gain the five-element tokens. Go forward and
find the The Obelisk of the Five Elementals. Put in the five-element tokens
according to the five-element theories, i.e., you should put in the Wood token
by choosing the option saying "Drop the wooden club." , if the instruction says
"The Obelisk of the Five Elementals shimmers with the brilliance of the five
colors though the red is dim. ", because Wood promotes Fire. Open the
Five-element Hood and get out from the entrance (please note whether or not you
achieve this task will have an effect on the ending of the game).
--------------------------------------------------------------
XIII. Chapter 8 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
Now please chase the escort that is going to meet Chi You. From Heaven Earth
Cliff with her companions Lan Wei has come to South Sky Mountains, which is
already strewn with monsters. Kill them all.
Enter the town of Lingnan from South Sky Mountains. Liang Hu catches up with
the team from behind. Seeing Liang Hu is back safe and sound, Lan Wei shed
tears of delight. Liang Hu says that he was then caught in the bottom of the
Imperial Tomb, and thanks to the Kun Wu sword, it was the Kun Wu sword that
flew out of its scabbard and sealed all the monsters at the time of maximum
danger. He also adds, he brought out the five pieces of the Empyrean Stone when
leaving the tomb.
The town of Lingnan is almost destroyed by Chi You's escort. After killing all
the monsters, Lan Wei's team meets an old man. The old man generally shows to
the team the directions ahead. There are two ways of reaching Chengdu. One is
to pass Redmoon Plains, Sunset Valley and Retrieval Cliff and then arrive in
Chengdu. The second way is to pass Thunderhome Peak, Peach Blossom Village, Shi
Li Hill and Retrieval Cliff and then arrive in Chengdu. You can only choose one
of them. The first route is shorter and there are no branch plots. Just kill
all the monsters along the way, so that it will be not so difficult in the
decisive battle with Chi You because he will have fewer monsters to help him.
But you will miss the key character Fang Zhong, and this directly affects the
ending of the game. The second route is longer, besides there are many branch
tasks, but you can meet Fang Zhong in Peach Blossom Village. If you choose this
route, the formerly received task of killing monsters throughout the journey
will not be achieved. But this doesn't affect the completion of the game.
However, you will have a hard time fighting against Chi You eventually. On
account of the simple plots in the first route, there won't be more
instructions here. The following are the detailed instructions of the plots and
tasks in the second route.
Go to Thunderhome Peak from the town of Lingnan all the way to the south. At
the top right there are a lot of white flowers. Gai Nie says that his wife
liked this kind of flower best before her death. Cai Xin also thinks the flower
is very nice. Then an old man turns up from a room nearby. After an inquiry,
the old man tells Gai Nie not to be so grieved over the dead, or the dead will
also feel bad in the lower world. What one owns in reality is precious indeed...
Go from Thunderhome Peak, pass Peach Blossom Village and get to Shi Li Hill,
and further ahead it is Retrieval Cliff. At Retrieval Cliff Cai Xin meets her
father, Huan Qi, who has been under a house arrest because he didn't hand the
Empyrean Stone to the King of Qin. But he tries to escape secretly. Cai Xin
tries persuading her father to withdraw from society and lead a reclusive life,
while Huan Qi warns that there are Qin soldiers ahead to be dealt with. Go
ahead and see the Qin soldiers that are so scared by the sudden appeareance of
the skeleton corpses. Kill these monsters and go straight forward to Chengdu
City.
Branch 1: In the talk with the villager in the south of Peach Blossom Village
you know there is a capable hermit named Fang Zhong. Gai Nie seems to know this
man, and his effusive antipathy to Fang Zhong is obvious to all. Go to Fang
Zhong's house. On entering the house, Gai Nie is recognized by Fang Zhong. Fang
Zhong turns out to be the elder brother of Shuang Er, who is Gai Nie's wife.
Gai Nie censures Fang Zhong for refusing to help them when Fang Zhong lead the
Mohists( disciples of the Mohist School, which is a school of thought in the
Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, 770-221 B.C.) assisting Zhao in
the war against Qin. In that war General Li was killed. However, nobody knows
Fang Zhong had his difficulties. When it comes to sealing Chi You, Fang Zhong
says that most of the gods derived from the five elements. The Yellow Emperor
is the primary god of Earth, and Chi You is the primary god of Fire. So the
Yellow Emperor would have been unable to defeat Chi You by right of his own
ability, he must have drawn support from some other sources. Fang Zhong also
sends Lan Wei a book of letters.
Branch 2: Enter Peach Blossom Village. In the northern part of the village, an
old man and a child are surrounded by a crowd of strong men. They are the
servants of the Li family, forcing the old man to pay back money. Lan Wei and
her companions drive away these men and inquire of the old man the reason. The
old man, Mr. Fang says that he borrowed ten gold from the Li family, but they
changed the figure to show one thousand on the bill which is now due. On
hearing this, Lan Wei burst into a fury. The team soon goes to the center of
the village and in front of a big house they meet Li San. Kill him, get back
the due bill, and give it to Old Man Fang.
Branch 3: There is a cave at the top right part of Thunderhome Peak, it is
Black Water Lily Cave. Lan Wei and her companions hear two women inside the
cave talking. On entering the cave they don't find anything. It is strange, and
they can only leave. Help Old Man Fang get back the due bill in Peach Blossom
Village and talk with him, you will learn that the Shi Family used to be a rich
family in this village. Lord Shi was a generous person and he was never
reluctant to aid needy people. One day his son unfortunately fell off the cliff
at Thunderhome Peak and afterwards Lord Shi died of grief. But surprisingly,
not long after the death of his father, the son, Shi Guiyi arrived back home.
On hearing his father had died, he was silent all day. He seemed to have
contracted a strange disease. Li Tu got rich through cheating Shi Guiyi. Now
talk to the servants at the gates of the Li Family's home, then you will know
that the house of the Li Family has lately become haunted and Li Tu has sent
for Wizard Qing Kong to help get rid of the evil spirits. Now go to the gates
of the Li Family's home and then you will overhear the talk between Li Tu and
Wizard Qing Kong. They are planning to set off to Black Water Lily Cave to kill
the two goblins the next day. Now leave the Li Family home for the Shi Family
home, then you see Child Shi is sick in bed, and there is a woman beside him
mumbling. It appears to you that she is going to kill Child Shi. Lan Wei breaks
in and the woman disappears. Now Lan Wei's team hurries to Thunderhome Peak, at
the entry of which you find a weird purple flower. Then the woman who was in
Shi Guiyi's room just now appears. Talk to her and she will tell you that her
name is Fei Yan, and her elder sister is Chuan Yun. They are both Chrysanthemum
Spirit. Chuan Yun was grabbed away and sold to the Li Family, but before long
the Li Family discarded her. On the verge of withering away, Child Shi saved
her. Subsequently, Child Shi carelessly fell off the cliff and luckily he was
saved by Chuan Yun. Then they fell in love. Having learnt everything, the team
go to Black Water Lily Cave, where Qing Kong is trying to coerce Chuan Yun into
handing over the Inner Power of Purity. People remind Chuan Yun not to be duped
and misled. In a miff, Qing Kong wants to kill Shi Guiyi. However, in an
instant Fei Yan wards off what would have been a killing blow for Shi Guiyi.
After killing Qing Kong, Lan Wei gets the Inner Power of Purity from Chuan Yun
and the Inner Power of Freedom from Fei Yan, then you can use either of these
to cure Shi Guiyi. And with the remaining Power you can save either Chuan Yun
or Fei Yan. If you want to save Chuan Yun, then use Chuan Yun's Power to cure
Shi Guiyi, and use Fei Yan's Power to save Chuan Yun. And vice versa. Lastly,
go back to the village to talk with Li Tu, and he will escape.
Branch 4: At the residence of a villager, Lan Wei finds Child Shi who has
fainted, while the child of the neighbour is all right as he hasn't gone
outside these days. Leaving this house, Lan Wei suddenly hears someone crying
for help inside the room. Turning around she finds a shadow. Chasing the shadow
to a tree outside Peach Blossom Village, Lan Wei finds it is a Fox Spirit and
is going to kill it. The Fox Spirit begs Lan Wei for it wants to have a last
look at the boy inside the cave, and she consents. Following the fox into the
cave, Lan Wei knows eventually that the fox has to shape itself into the shape
of a human so as to take care of the boy. To save this boy it has to suck wit
from other boys. Now the Fox Spirit feels relieved that it doesn't have to harm
people constantly only to save the boy... After the Fox Spirit dies, get the
Power from it and hand it to the boy.
Branch 5: From Qing Yu in Peach Blossom Village Lan Wei learns that the scale
from the Fire Guardian is a precious treasure. But some evil spirit has
attached to it. Only the cold, sharp iron hammer from Xiao Wentian, a famous
ironsmith, can remove that. Besides, Qing Yu says that Xiao Wentian always
appears near Shi Li Hill. Accepting the "Book for Eradicating Evil" from him,
Lan Wei sets off to Shi Li Hill to meet Xiao Wentian. On meeting Xiao Wentian,
and after a talk with him, Lan Wei successfully forges Flare Ring, and she also
gains Heartlock Armor.
The evil spirits are everywhere in Chengdu City. Lan Wei's team comes to the
city gates and finds that Yan Hong's uncle, Yan Peng, is fighting with great
difficulty against the monsters. Unfortunately, Yan Peng is defeated and
killed. Seeing this, Yan Hong crazily rushes at the monsters but unexpectedly
he gets taken over by Chi You's spirit. Chi You rejoices that Mei has found him
a splendid body, telling people to meet him at the Temple of the God of War.
Lan Wei's team pursues Chi You all the way westward and catches up with him at
Bronze Tiger Mountain. Yin Cheng, who has already died now is beside Chi You.
It turns out Yin Cheng also got taken over by an evil spirit and he has been
tailing after Lan Wei's team. Chi You is defeated by the team and escapes. Cai
Xin advises re-grouping back in Chengdu (here you can also choose not to go
back and keep on chasing Chi You).
Branch 6: Lan Wei meets a denizen at the western gates of Chengdu, who asks her
not to hurt the corpses downtown, for they used to be the residents in this
city. Entering the downtown area, Lan Wei sees a man fighting with a group of
corpses. She has to save the man by killing the corpses. This man is Chi Ying.
Lan Wei tells him not to hurt the corpses any more. But Chi Ying says these
corpses are monsters after all, and only by killing them can the souls of the
dead be relieved. Feeling that's reasonable, Lan Wei helps Chi Ying kill all
the corpses in the city. Go back to the inn and meet Chi Ying's master, Wu
Tian. He says there is a method to annihilate the corpses, but they need the
Spirit Grass first. Talk to the innkeeper and take a rest. On the next morning
people find some Spirit Grass at the centre of the Lost Woods to the east of
the city. Outside the eastern gates of the city there is a woodman, you can
also buy from him two pieces of Spirit Grass at the price of 2000 gold. Then go
back and give the Spirit Grass to Wu Tian (if you don't want to give out all
the Spirit Grass, you can drop some to the ground beforehand, and pick them up
after you talk with Wu Tian).
Branch 7: In the Lost Woods you will meet Tian Mei who has been transformed
into a corpse and is now attacking Wei Shen. It is Tian Jing, an evil doctor
who has been up to this mischief. Save the small boy in the house in the
woodland, he will tell you that his master, Tian Jing, transformed into a
monster and ran away. People come to Swallow Cave and kill him. When they come
back to the house in the woodland again, they find Tian Mei completely
recovered. She hopes to spend the rest of her life with her beloved Wei Shen,
who has been accompanying her through all the good and the bad times.
Branch 8: There is a boy to the northeast of Chengdu City, who wants to eat the
Scented Red Nut. If you have been to the tree cavity in Cloud Rose Village (the
task of Xiao Miao), you will have Scented Red Nut with you. Give him the
Scented Red Nut.
Branch 9: There is an old trader to the east of Chengdu, who purchases Spirit
Grass at a very high price. Before you meet Chi Ying's master you can sell the
spare Spirit Grass to him.
Branch 10: There is a young lad named Xiao Wu talking big near the eastern
gates of Chengdu. Show off your materials for forging to him and humble him.
Leave Chengdu, pass Bronze Tiger Mountain and you arrive at Bronze Drum
Village, where the villagers are holding a celebratory event for Chi You's
resurrection. They are controlled by Chi You. Lan Wei's team defeats Chi You
but carelessly lets him escape again. Before leaving he tells everyone to meet
him at Giantwood. At Giantwood Chi You revives Xing Tian. Xing Tian no longer
wants to fight against all the gods with Chi You, however, he agrees to help
Chi You fight one last time. Finally Xing Tian is defeated by Lan Wei's team,
after which, instead of feeling chagrin at his defeat he feels much relieved.
He then tells everybody stories about all the gods. After Pan Gu and Nu Wa
created human beings, they were worried that humans might grow too powerful. So
they entrusted Chi You and Xing Tian with the responsibility of taking control
of human beings, telling them about the secrets of the five elements. But they
rebelled, aligned themselves with Mei and lead human beings to fight against
the gods. Consequently the Yellow Emperor was appointed by Pan Gu to deal with
them. Chi You and the Yellow Emperor used to be close friends, but now they had
to meet on the battleground. After telling the story, Xing Tian says this path
is locked and to chase Chi You they have to bypass Stoneman Village.
In Bronze Drum Village, the monster reveals its true colors. It turns out to be
Mei, Chi You's acomplice. Mei, cock-a-hoop, tells Lan Wei's team the story. Lan
Xiong, Chi Huan, Yin Cheng and Cheng Yu were actually all killed by Mei. It is
also Mei who convinced Yan Hong of the story that the Empyrean Stones if pieced

together could revive the dead, and in this way she succeeded in smashing the
seal incarcerating Chi You's soul. She also tried every possible means to bring
Yan Hong's body under Chi You's control. Now everything becomes so clear and a
fierce fight seems inevitable(to improve the completion rate of the game, it is
recommended that the four evil monsters in the village be killed first ).
Branch 11: Leave Chengdu for Bronze Tiger Mountain. There is a redbud flower.
Gai Nie picks it off for Cai Xin. Then a man named Tian Cheng appears, who
would rather exchange all his herbs for that redbud flower. He wants to send
this flower to his beloved girl friend. Cai Xin decides to give him the flower.
Afterwards, you can choose to accept the herb from Tian Sheng or not.
Branch 12: Get to Bronze Drum Village and meet E Han at her house. She says her
embroidery needle is broken and she is unable to embroider for Tian Cheng now.
Now you can tell her of the story that an iron pestle can be ground down to a
needle, or you can choose to grind a needle for her. The sharpening stone is
just at the opposite bank of the river east of the village. After you grind the
needle, hand it to E Han.
Branch 13: Kill the Summon Fiend at the northeast of Bronze Tiger Mountain, and
save Ah Jiao and Ah Nan. Ah Jiao is the daughter of the wizard of the village.
Because the wizard refused his consent to her marriage with Ah Nan, the two
young people tried to run away. Send the two young people back to the village
and talk to the wizard, he will admit that it was his mistake to have summoned
the fiend, and he also asks people to investigate the reason why the fiend has
gone crazy. Now talk to the soldier and get the demon ring (there are two
soldiers in the village, talk to the lower one). Then talk to Jiang Tuo and
from the talk you will find out that the demon ring is the cause of the fiend
going crazy. Tell this to the Chief Wizard of the village (Jiang Tuo will not
appear here unless you have talked to him at Beigu Grasslands. Jiang Tuo
appears four times in the game at Whitesand Valley, Tallcloud Village, Beigu
Grasslands, and Bronze Drum Village).
Come to Stoneman Village and kill the demons. At the entry of Deathwind Cave
near the village, the keeper of the cave says that the people in the Yellow
Emperor's prediction are finally coming, which puzzles everybody. Come to the
clan elder and he will invite you to his house for a conversation. At his home
you are told that the Yellow Emperor has already predicted that the day will
come when Chi You's spirit will be sealed again. Chi You's body is kept in the
penetralia of the temple. People will defeat him as long as they abandon all
their greed and hatred.
Branch 14: If you have ever met the six street vendors in turns at Redclay
Village, Jinyang City, Jiuyuan City, Tallcloud Mountain, Chengdu City and
Galetown(not a single one is to be left out), you will find a seventh street
vendor at Stoneman Village. Talk with him and exchange your special properties
with him for some superior forging materials.
Branch 15: There is an old man lying on the ground in the south of Stoneman
Village. Liang Hu comes forward to save him but he is lithified. Go to the
wizard's for help. Then go and kill the Stone Spirit near the stone heap in the
forest, which is beside the statue of the Yellow Emperor in the north. In this
way Liang Hu will be saved from the lithification. Another way to save Liang Hu
is to talk to a man with a bugle, then go to meet the Stone Spirit near the
stone heap in the forest, after which you go and kill the wizard, get the
musical instrument from him and hand it over to the Stone Spirit.
Go inside Deathwind Cave, where there are five storeys in all. Yan Hong is at
the fourth storey fighting against Chi You. Lan Wei's team defeats Chi You but
Chi You escapes again. Out of Deathwind Cave there is a large waterfall. The
scenery here is quite pleasing and agreeable. Go straight to the top right and
then to the bottom right, you will meet Mei on a bridge near the waterfall. She
says it is forever impossible to overcome Chi You. Defeat her and go to the
ancient temple from the right hand side.
Branch 16: If you ever met a trader and talked with him at the bottom left part
of Chengdu City, and he said that you would meet him again sometime in the
future, you will meet him in the top right corner of the waterfall. He is Liu
Jing, a furtive trader from whom you can buy lots of superior equipment. But
you can only buy once and he appears only in the first round of the game.

XIV. Chapter 9 Walkthrough
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lan Wei's team enters the ancient temple. There is a monument obstructing the
way into the underground maze that reads, "The God of Fire is furious. The
Baiyuns must pay for their sins. The God of War is reborn in the ever-changing
fire". Outside the room there is a goddess statue. Inscribed on the back of
the statue are these words: Barren fields, flooding waters, bloody pools,
watch the God of War as he is reborn. Digesting these words, Lan Wei and her
companions will realize that Chi You should be hiding in the Temple of the God
of War beside the waterfall. Go back to the waterfall again, enter the Temple
of the God of War, defeat the Guardian monster and gain the Damaged shield and
Vessel for Blood Sacrifice. Exit from the front entrance and re-enter, then
with the Vessel for Blood Sacrifice you can enter the underground maze.
Now Lan Wei meets her father, Lan Xiong. But he is under the control of
Chi You. Defeat him and get through. Keep fighting until you reach the ninth
storey. It will be easier for you to get out of the maze if you stick to the
"right-hand rules". At the ninth storey of the maze, enter the room where Chi
You is sealed. Lan Wei eventually compels the spirit of Chi You out of Yan
Hong due to the great power of love. A fierce fight between human and god
begins in the room. When the ancient temple collapses, Chi You's ambition
also falls to pieces. He has no choice but to reconcile to being sealed
again.
