Simply copy the files from the CD in a folder. Use dos commands

2.01] Old computer install (DOS & Windows95/98) [0201]

Ok, so I don't know exactly the specification you need. Basically, you need like
486/DX2 @ 25Mhz with 4Mo RAM.
The most important thing is, that you need a CD-Rom drive with 150ko/s speed
(That means 1X, most of computer CD-Rom are at least 4X), or the animations will
pause from time to time.
The game runs fine on Windows 95&98.
Since it's a DOS-Based game, it will NOT run on Windows NT/XP.
The best thing is to install it on hard-drive with the Install.exe stuff.

2.02] DosBox install & Config (Windows XP/MacOS/Linux) [0202]

Ok, so I guess you already know about DosBox. It's a Microsoft DOS emulator
that runs quite well. The good thing is, you can install it all OS that exists :
- Windows NT/XP/Vista/7 (don't know about Vista/7 but guess it does...)
- MacOS
- Linux (often in packages in Ubuntu or Debian)
You will find everything in dosbox website :

You need to configure it in order to get a good gaming experience. So, open the
dosbox*.conf to configure what you want :
- In Windows :
C:\Documents and Settings\@YOUR_NAME@\Local Settings\Application Data\DOSBox
- In MacOS :
Err... I don't use this "stuff", so... :)
- In Linux :
dosbox -c 'config -writeconf dosbox.conf' (In Terminal)
Ok, now open the file. They are three important points here :
- CPU. You need at least 5000 cycles, 10000 Max. You can configure it in file,
or using CTRL+F12 when DosBox is launched
- Joystick. I get some trouble on Jazz Jackrabbit with the value "timed", so I
put it on "false".
- Autoexec. At the very end of the file, you can put lines that will be automa-
tically typed when launching dosbox. Remember to mount your C: folder.
Basically, it's like a Windows Shortcut in better. command is something like :
"mount C C:\DosGames\megarace"
So, it will give you :
[autoexec]

Save, and you should be ready to run !

Ok, so here are the basics DOS command (If you don't know it) :
- dir : list files in directory
- cd <folder> : allows you to get in <folder>
- cd .. : goes to the upper folder.
- C: : go to C:
Just go with "cd" command to your megarace folder. You should get a few files :
- Install.exe : Install the game & sound-card select.
- Megarace.bat : Launch RACEPRG with some additionnal command
- Megarace.exe : ???
- RacePRG.exe : launch game (but in most time you'll have glitch or nosound)
- Readme.exe : some stuff about CD-Rom configuration (Opens Readme.doc)
So, just type MEGARACE, then ENTER and here we go !!!
If you don't have sound, just type Install and follow instructions

The game takes part in a futur world (like 21XX or something like that).
Megarace is a TV-Show with mega-host "Lance Boyle". You (The ENFORCER) got to
kill everybody with your car. I know, they are weird. Should be a futuristic
game, but the cars are just piece of junk !!! Seriously, you could go to a
junk-yard, and assemble you're own car... Well I guess it's the game, so... !

There is a total of 8 car in the game. You begin with 3 cars. Each time
you beat a leader, you get his car. Each car has it specification.
Also, each car has different's HUD, that indicate :
- Speed
- Ammo
- Energy (your life)
- Audimat (if you doing boring stuff, you'll lose the race)
- Opponent Preview and his energy
- Opponent's horizontal position.
- Laps left (Top left)
- Score (Top Right)

Ok, so it's very simple. You need to kill (-virtually kill- :D) your opponents.
The more and fastest you kill, the best your score will be.
They are several ways to kill them :
- Shoot at him from behind with missile. But beware, you have limited ammo.
- Bump Him from behind, or from the sides (if you are on his left, press right)
- Get a speed bonus and race very fast. You'll here an explosion, that's it.
You'll always have one opponent at a time.

using all of your ammo, and finish the openent by bumping them in the back.

Ok, this is a bonus secret race. What you need to get it ? I dunno. I think
like you need some points or good audimat.
Anyway, you have 2 laps, and it goes VERY VERY fast !! Like Lance says, there
isn't brakes... too bad !!! Other cars are driving backward, if you hit them,
you'll explosed and get kills. So avoid them, get bonuses and Lance Will be
happy :).

Too difficult ? Ok, here's a typ ;)
The opponent will always appear on the cord, that mean, if the track goes on
the left, go to the right to avoid opponent. As simple as that !!
