*    AUTHOR NOTE      *
***********************

Hi and welcome! :)

Allright this is the second FAQ I write (the first was for an old old game
called "Warriors of Legend" for the PC. Since there was no walkthrough for
this N-Gage title, I decide to fill the void.

***********************
*    INTRODUCTION     *
***********************

Requiem of Hell is a game for Nokia's N-Gage platform (which is a combo
between a cellphone, gameboy-like, PDA and other things). It is rumored
that this game (along with many other N-Gage titles) can be played on
any new Nokia phones that have the Symbian OS albeit with a poorer
control system (obviously the N-Gage is shaped like a game system while
other phones are shaped like phones). But this is not a walkthrough on
how to play games on phone but more on the game itself.

This was the first RPG created for the platform and for those who are
familiar with Diablo-esque gameplay and isometric view, you might feel
somewhat at home with Requiem of Hell. Bare in mind though that this
remains very simplistic and has very poor replayability. To illustrate,
you cannot equip your character with armors or anything of the sort.
At best you can find 3 magic items that can help you and use a few
swords or axes.

Finally, it is a very short game with simply about 7 small levels with
limited enemy variety. In other words you can finish this in a few hours.

Regardless, it is enjoyable especially for the hero which I find rather
original...

******************************
*   THE STORY & CHARACTERS   *
******************************

Allright the story is pretty straightforward and simple but there is
a sort of twist that I like about it...

[YOU PLAY AN UNDEAD]

Too often games are cliché enough that the hero is a good and heroic
paladin knight on to save the world but this time the hero is quite
different. You actually play a living dead (with bluish skin and all)
and to top everything, the hero is AMNESIC! In other words you play
an amnesic corpse who don't even remember being a bad guy once upon
a time...

The worst is that your corpse is being re-awakened with black magic
by a fairy who manipulate you into thinking you died at the hands of
a Demon-King and fills you up on a road of vengence that isn't even
yours!

What a concept ladies and gents! :)

You thus have the choice between two of them (a male or female) and
the dialogue or abilities are 100% the same. This sadly lowers the
game a lot for replayability but oh well. You have the choice between:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
TROY (male hero)

He butchered with an axe a bunch of enemies while being aprehended for
his crimes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
LINDA (female hero)

A witch that died for her sins and brough a few of her captors along
when she died. She fights with a simitar curved sword.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

On starts your journey, helped with the small witch GIGI who only you
can see. Your quest is to kill DALU the Demon-King and restore peace
on the dying world filled with corpses and pestilance. You will travel
to Hell to slay the Demon Lord and hopefully rest in peace in a
cemetary afterwards. Good Luck!

***********************
*      INTERFACE      *
***********************

The interface is simple and effective to my opinion. It obviously use the
cross=pad to move your character and as for the buttons, you might have
to remap them a little since the defaults are a bit corky and hard if you
want to use the combo moves. Here's the configuration I would suggest:

(1) QUAKE magic
(2) BURN magic
(3) STORM magic

(4) Weapon Burst
(5) Attack
(6) Call GIGI (The Fairy)
(7) Block
(8) Throw ranged weapon

(*) Map
(0) Inventory

- The 3 different magics will come available as the game progress and are
easily cast by the top buttons.

- The normal attack (5) does a triple combo hit and is the most efficient
way to kill your opponents.

- The "Weapon Burst" is similar to what Link does in Zelda as it charges
the weapon and then burst of energy at short range. I didn't used it much
but it does look rather cool.

- You can block if you like but it only blocks the attack in front of you.

- Ranged weapons (throwing axes and skulls) are practically worthless and
take a lot of inventory space. I would not bother with them.

Additionally as mentionned you can do combo moves. Personally I believe
they are a tad worthless since the normal triple attacks you do simply
with your (5) button works wonders but in case you feel like variety,
here's your combos:

---------------------
Roundhouse    (4)+(5)
---------------------
This is the best combo as it makes a wild spin all around you which can
clear out all the enemies around.

--------------------------
Critical Strike    (4)+(7)
--------------------------
Completely useless, there is nothing "critical" about it since it barely
does more damage (if any) than a regular attack. It simply does a weak
jab and nothing else.

---------------------
Lunge    (move)+(4)
---------------------
Not really good either, if you move your character around (running) you
hit 4 and the character will lunge at the enemy with the point of the
weapon.

----------------------
Big Slash   (move)+(5)
----------------------
Same as the "Lunge" except that it does a big slash forward.

Finally the equipment and map are mostly self explanatory but we will
touch on them a little in the next sections.

***********************
*      THE STATS      *
***********************

This game works with "Levels" which raise by killing enemies. To give you an
idea, when I finished Requiem of Hell I was LEVEL 13 (whooo.. bad luck).

You then have ARMOR (to defend against enemy attacks)
And HIT POINTS      (how many hits you can suffer before dying)

As you can see, that's very straightforward.

Your ATTACK value will vary depending on which sword you have equipped and
if you carry a magical item that boosts it.

+ + +
Finally note that just like any self-respecting undead, you regenerate
your health when your not moving. As a result you don't *need* health
items. Just drop your N-Gage for a few seconds and when you return you'll be
back to full health. Isn't it great to be dead for once?

***********************
*      THE MAGIC      *
***********************

Magic plays an important part in this game and is actually cast by GIGI the
fairy that follows you everywhere. You start with the first magic and then
will gain the other two as the game progress.

Note that the three magics are independant and replenish automatically.

Also note that the more you cast the spell, the more powerful it will
become and the faster it will replenish. It is thus a GREAT idea to cast
magic as soon as you can (even when there are no enemies) so that you will
improove your magic levels. The top level for all magics is 10 (or X in
roman numerics).

-------------------------------
QUAKE (Gained at begining)
-------------------------------

It cast a big ball of hellish energy to fall on the floor around you which
stuns your enemies for a LONG LONG time, making them sitting ducks. This is
a great magic since it permits you to put everyone in sleep mode and then
easily assasinate them as they cannot defend themselves.

(Against recuring skeletons, it is about the only way to stop them from
constantly returning to life, since they are stunned)

-------------------------------
BURN  (Gained around Level 5-6)
-------------------------------

A protective wall of bluish flames erupts around you to inflict damage to
enemies. This is the best way to attack multiple enemies at once.

My personal strategy is to stun enemies with either QUAKE or STORM and
then use BURN along with weapon slashes to finish them off.

-------------------------------
STORM (Gained around Level 8-9)
-------------------------------

The final and most powerful magic. It cast an Ice Storm from Heaven to
damage and freeze every enemies around. Frozen enemies are like statues and
cannot attack or defend (somewhat like the stun effect of QUAKE)

***********************
*      INVENTORY      *
***********************

Inventory is opened with (0) and also comprise a status of your level, HPs
and the like. The inventory works like a conveyor belt and can be packed
very quickly. I would suggest keeping the health items at the begining since
these are about the only items you will actually use.

As for Weapons, Troy use Axes while Linda use Swords. So if your Troy you
can throw away all swords since you can't use them or sell them. Apply the
vice-versa for Linda.

------------
WEAPONS
------------

Normal Sword/Axe     : The brown weapon you start with (10 DAMAGE)
Mightiest Sword/Axe  : Found by killing enemies at the Tower (18 DAMAGE)
Blade of Ice         : The final weapon (8 DAMAGE + Freeze)

These 3 swords can be used all the way and near the end you are forced to
use the Blade of Ice. It might be weaker compared to the Mightiest Sword
but it doesn't seem to make any difference in stats. Plus the Blade of Ice
freezes enemies just like the STORM spell.

There are also 3 other elemental swords/axes but they are worthless to my
opinion since they are weaker than the normal sword and have "charges". In
other words you can only slash 200 times with them (even if not attacking
an enemy). This deplates VERY QUICKLY and is not worth your while.

Sword/Axe of Wind
Sword/Axe of Earth
Sword/Axe of Fire

------------
MAGIC ITEMS
------------

Not much here either but does make a small difference. When found these
should be equipped.

Necklace    : Add 2 points to defensive ability (Protect against Fire)
Sapphire    : (Protect against Water)
Finger Ring : Add 2 points to attack ability (Protect against Earth)
Bracelet    : Add 2 points to defensive ability (Protect against Wind)

------------
THROW ITEMS
------------

Pretty worthless IMO. You throw these with the (8) key

Throwing Axe : 20 damages
Skull        : 30 damages

------------
HEALTH ITEMS
------------

These items will heal lost HPs. You cannot carry more than 8 of the same
type.

Apple       : Heal 15 HPs
Cheese      : Heal 24 HPs
Meat        : Heal 36 HPs
Chicken Leg : Heal 45 HPs

How can a undead eat food? Don't ask....

------------
VARIOUS
------------

Ghost Mirror         : Given by the ghost lady, can see invisible enemies
Cursed Scroll        : To open the door of City of Souls
Scroll               : Used to open the Teleporter
Black Ore (8)        : Mix with Orange Diamond to create Black Ore Powder
Orange Diamond (8)   : Mix with Black Ore to create Black Ore Powder
Black Ore Powder (8) : Used to destroy the Dragon Light Crystals.

Finally if you want to drop items you can with the (C) key.

***********************
*    WALK-THROUGH     *
***********************

Allright the meat of this document. As mentionned earlier, this game is very
straightforward and easy. But since you barely have any clues on where to
go next, you could (like me) do a lot of frustrating traveling for no reason.
Just follow these directions to avoid being lost.

--------------------
HOLLOW-WOOD MOUNTAIN
--------------------

This is where you atart your journey. You begin by being attacked by a bunch
of Bloodhounds. Kill them and proceed to the small ruined village.

In the village there are 3 people here. The two civilians are worthless and
serve no purpose. You can talk to the blacksmith and he will set you on a
quest to get a Talisman in the City of Souls. A note to the wise, this quest
serves nothing as it will only give you a weak "Sword of Wind"

At this point call GIGI (6) key and she will tell you about a portal. Head
toward the west of the village and meet with SHAMAN who is near the portal.
Talk to him and you will learn a bit more about the main quest.

A bit south from this will be the Circle of Stones guarded with some more
powerful Bloodhounds. You need to get the "Cursed Scroll" there lying in the
middle of the stones. East of that will be another unmarked Scroll that is
simply called "Scroll". You need this as well.

You can clear the map to level up and when your done, head at the south-east
portion of the map to some staircase to the crypt.

-----------------
THE LOST GRAVE
-----------------

The first thing you notice here is that every enemies are invisible and that
they cannot be harmed in any way!!! This is scary and you should move as
fast as possible to the north-east to meet with an amnesiac female ghost.

MIRANDA the ghost will tell you she search for her husband. She sets you on
a quick quest to get the "Necklace" magic item which is located a bit south-
west of where you guys are (look on the mini-map it's the red cross there).
Run as fast as you can while avoiding enemies to get the necklace and bring
it back to Miranda. She will reward you with the "Ghost Mirror" and also
tell you to keep the Necklace (which you can equip BTW). This mirror will
allow you to see the enemies and attack them at last.

So have fun and clear them up (note that skeletons cannot be completely
killed, stun them if you want to render them un-operational).

You can then go 2 ways. Either the MAZE OF ENERGY to the staircase to the
east or the TOWER OF DARKNESS to the south. I would choose the later to
try to get the "Mightiest Sword/Axe".

-----------------
TOWER OF DARKNESS
-----------------

Here you will fight very potent enemies so I HIGHLY suggest you stun them
with your Magic before attacking them. If your lucky one of the big brutes
will leave the "Mightiest Sword/Axe" so if you get it, equip it! You'll see
the difference.

Some of these brutes also leave "Black Ore", you should find 8 pieces and
even if they bog your inventory a lot, you MUST keep them to finish the
game.

When that is done, go on to the next level, the CITY OF SOULS.

-----------------
CITY OF SOULS
-----------------

You will need the "Cursed Scroll" to open the door here but we allready got
that so go on into the city and kill everyone you see. You might encounter
the Talisman there (that you can equip) and tell about to the blacksmith.

In the middle of this city near a teleporter, you will meet with DALU the
Demon-King who will attack you. He's oddly extremely weak as I simply
threw a skull to him and he died...

The Teleporter will be active but forget about it and go to the next exit
that will lead you to the MAZE OF ENERGY. (You will note that the CITY OF
SOULS is located in between the MAZE OF ENERGY and the TOWER OF DARKNESS)

I recommend saving the game here...

----------------
MAZE OF ENERGY
----------------

For some odd and VERY VERY VERY ANNOYING reason, you cannot save or load
your game from this level... The Map also doesn't work. So before you do
this part of the game, you should have a good hour of non-stop gaming
ahead of you since you cannot save your game.

Lots of enemies.. Very annoying level. Simply collect ORANGE DIAMONDS,
you need 8 of them. If you leave the level and hope that by re-spawning
the enemies might bring more orange diamonds guess again. So get your 8
pieces in one go and don't drop any.

Finally go to the other exit to return to THE LOST GRAVE. Pass through
that real quick to return home to HOLLOW-WOOD MOUNTAIN.

----------------------------
HOLLOW-WOOD MOUNTAIN (again)
----------------------------

Now you can complete the little quests.

First talk to the blacksmith to get the worthless sword/axe of Wind.

Second go to the fountain at the east of the village. Automatically
your normal sword will turn into the famed BLADE OF ICE which you
absolutely need to finish the game.

Finally talk to SHAMAN with your 8 pieces of Black Ore and 8 pieces of
Orange Diamond. He will make for you 8 parts of "Black Ore Powder"

NOTE: THIS IS CRUCIAL AND IMPERATIVE. DO *NOT* USE "BLACK ORE POWDER"
IF YOU ARE NOT IN FRONT OF A BIG CRYSTAL IN "DRAGON TREE'S BLOOD"
LEVEL. YOU ONLY HAVE 8 OF THESE AND THERE ARE 8 CRYSTALS!!! IF YOU
WASTE THESE ITEMS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FINISH THE GAME! SO DO NOT
MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID OF USING THEM "just to check what it does"...
YOU WILL HAVE TO START THE GAME ALLLLLL OVER AGAIN!!!!!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Finally enter the Teleporter and go to DRAGON TREE'S BLOOD.

--------------------
DRAGON TREE'S BLOOD
--------------------

A dark area filled with monsters. Kill them.

Along the way you will see a lot of big crystals (8 of them). To destroy
them you need to go near them and use the "Black Ore Powder". This will
estinguish them (making them darker). Do this for the 8 crystals.

NOTE THAT AGAIN YOU ONLY HAVE 8 BLACK ORE POWDER AND IF YOU MISS YOUR
SHOT AND DON'T ESTINGUISH ALL 8 CRYSTALS YOU WILL HAVE TO RESTART YOUR
WHOLE GAME FROM THE VERY VERY START! SO BE CAREFULL!!!!!!!!!

ALSO YOU NEED TO DO THIS IN ONE SHOT!!! OTHERWISE IF YOU WAIT TOO LONG,
YOUR CHARACTER WILL SAY "The crystals are being enlighten again.. All
my efforts have been in vain". AND WHEN THAT IS SAID, THEN YOU CAN TURN
YOUR N-GAGE OFF, PULL OUT THE CARTRIDGE AND BASH IT WITH A HAMMER!
(Because yes you have to start from the very start with a new game)

If you succeed the hero will say "Finally all the lights are finished,
the source of evil is done" or something along those lines.

When that is complete proceed to the next staircase to the BLOOD POOL.

--------------
BLOOD POOL
--------------

Practically nothing to do here. This is only a "pass-by" level. It's
filled with enemy that you can clear if you feel like it.

Note that the blood pool is actually DANGEROUS. It's kind of a lava pool
so every second you step in it you loose HPs. So try to stay on dry land
or else you'll die quickly.

Proceed to the next (and last) staircase to the DRAGON TREE'S HEART

Save your game in advance...

--------------------
DRAGON TREE'S HEART
--------------------

Again notice that once more for AN ANNOYING reason, you STILL cannot save,
load or see the map on this level. I'm not sure if it's because my version
is bugged or everyone got this problem, but save in advance and allow you
at least an hour or so to finish here. This is the last stage btw so you
are near the end of the game.

The toughest enemies reside there so use your magic with strategy. Kill
everyone and then notice that there are bunch of weird trees scattered
around this level. These are Dragon Trees and you need to kill them.

You NEED to have the "BLADE OF ICE" equipped to do this. Simply go toward
one of these trees and slash at the green pumping heart. If your hit is
good, the green heart will stop pumping. Do this for every trees.

When all trees are stopped, you will have a tiny cut scene in which you
see DALU the Demon-King once more. He ask to duel so get ready for the
final battle.

DALU must be the easiest boss in any video games in existance.
I simply casted the magic "STORM" and he died instantly...

Ridiculous but what can I tell you friends? He's dead.

Enjoy the ending...
