1) Legal
=======================================================================

This FAQ was written by Caffeine Commando.  It may only be used at
sites that Caffeine Commando has said it may be used at.  Those sites
are GameFAQs.  I am quite aware that I only mentioned one site and
hence my grammar has just committed an unforgivable atrocity against
pluralization.  Deal with it.  And, anyway, why would you want to jack
an FAQ for THIS GAME and put your name on it?  Who would read it?!

=======================================================================
2) About this FAQ
=======================================================================

This FAQ is Version 1.  Not "v.1.0."  Not "Version 0.99b."  Not "1.01
Revision 2."  And sure as HECK not "Super Version II Turbo: Special
Championship Edition."

Version 1 was completed on 6.27.01 at 2:06 in the morning.  And I'm
very tired.

This was written for two reasons:

First, I didn't know there was an FAQ for this game.  I opened the
"Wrestling" category at GameFAQs and found NOTHING on this game.  It
turns out it was listed under "Sports" (HUH!??!?!?!?) so I didn't find
out one existed until I was halfway done.  Since it was one of my
favorite games, I kept on trudging through.  All material in this FAQ/
Walkthrough is original, I got it off my own NES.  None of this is
taken from that other FAQ, I promise!  ;)

Secondly, my FAQ is more of a "Walkthrough" than the other, as mine
provides both a movelist and hints on defeating each of the characters.
Since my movelist is different (different perspectives on the moves.
Possibly you think the moves are different from what I see.  They're
too few frames to be certain.), it's nice to have two separate
viewpoints on the game.  I tried to provide a service that for this
game was previously unavailable.  I only can hope that I was
successful.

3) Movelists
=======================================================================

A: "Yourself"

A quick run-down: I kind of find it insulting that this 98-pound wimp
could even DARE to consider himself to be me.  I mean, if I were in
this game, I'd need my own move list of things I actually do.  But,
unfortunately, I am not a playable character in the game.  :)
Instead, you have to deal with this punk.  His best strategy is
probably just atomic drop, kick, leg drop, repeat until finished.  He's
a mixed bag really, with some decent moves mixed in with some outright
stupid ones.  His moves are all taken from other characters... no
originality here.

Finisher: Heheh, make one up.  I always just used atomic drop, punch...

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Kick
A+B Attack    - Dropkick
Top Rope      - Missile Dropkick
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Atomic Drop
Onto Fallen   - Leg Drop

Strategy: You'll have to get used to this guy quick if you want to win
the Super Challenge mode.  So, be prepared to get good.  First thing's
first, NEVER attempt the dropkick against anyone with an ounce of
skills.  Instead, just lay it to your opponent with slams and leg drops
or atomic drops into punches/kicks into leg drops.

B: The Big Boss Man

A quick run-down:  Has this man EVER had a serious contigent of fans?
His movelist is almost as limited in reality as in this game, and his
gimmick of a renegade cop is just ludicrous.  In this game, he's so
big and goofy-looking that it's hard to take yourself seriously while
playing as him, so you might as well pick a good, intimidating wrestler
like Rick Rude or the Macho King.  Although, the flying-headbutt-ish
move he does in this game is admittedly somewhat cool... however, it's
Bam Bam Bigelow's move, not the Boss Man's!

Finisher: The Boss Man Slam: It's a sidewalk slam.  Goofy finisher.
It's not even in the game.  Why are you playing as the Boss Man,
anyway?  Just do atomic drops and kicks like "Yourself."

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Headbutt
A+B Attack    - Belly Attack
Top Rope      - Flying Headbutt
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Atomic Drop
Onto Fallen   - Splash

Strategy: As long as you keep following up on your ridiculous moves
with his One Thousand Pounds Of Fat Splash, you'll not only keep a fair
advantage, but also keep your opponent feeling too silly to retaliate,
especially if you use the Belly Attack enough to crack them up....
However, he's just about worthless against the computer.

C: Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake

A quick run-down: I never got a chance to care about him as the Barber,
as I was very, very young at the time.  I only saw him as the Disciple
of Hogan (and later, Disciple of Warrior) and thought he was
ridiculous.  In quality, game-wise, he's just playable, nothing
special, except the Sleeper Hold is actually a fairly effective move.
In addition, his jumping punch A+B Attack is hard to time a defense
against, so use it against easily-confused players.

Finisher: Probably his Sleeper Hold.

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Headbutt
A+B Attack    - Leaping Punch
Top Rope      - Flying Fist Drop
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Sleeper Hold
Onto Fallen   - Leg Drop

Strategy: Make sure you just keep your power even with your opponent.
Try a high-risk strategy including the Leaping Punch and the Flying
Fist Drop to throw off an enemy, and if you fail to hit, you should
stall a bit before continuing.

D: "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

A quick run-down: In reality, he's famous for his patriotic gimmick and
his ability to make the fans cheer like no other (at least, until he
turned heel and joined the Canadians).  However, he's also notably
silly with his "HOOOooooOOooooOOOO!!!!" and "Tough-guy!" catchphrases.
In addition, his usual match of punches, a spinning slam, and a knee
drop is quite repetitive to the more critical fans.  In the game, he
holds true to reality, doing mainly the most basic of moves.  However,
the three point stance into a charging clothesline attack is a pretty
nice maneuver, even if he telegraphs it to make it easy for the more
observant to dodge.

Finisher: The Old Glory Knee Drop, strangely absent in this game.

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Kick
A+B Attack    - 3-Point Stance, Charge, and Clothesline
Top Rope      - Flying Fist Drop
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Back Body Drop
Onto Fallen   - Elbow Drop

Strategy: Do what the man does in reality.  Kick.  Punch.  Slam.
Charge.  And say "How ya like that, TOUGH GUY!?" every few seconds to
confuse humans.

E: Andre The Giant

A quick run-down: The first WWF wrestler who made his size his gimmick.
He was very entertaining, and had a "big friendly giant" image to him
for most of his career.  I personally miss him.  In the game, he's
pretty cool, because his theme music often sets a mood of being
invincible, and the mood matters a lot in this game.  His main short-
comings are his inability to climb the ropes and his notable slowness.

Finisher: I'm not really sure.  Probably the Bear-Hug.

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Kick
A+B Attack    - no move!
Top Rope      - Rest in Turnbuckles
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Chinlock into Headbutt
Onto Fallen   - Leg Drop

Strategy: Intimidation.  If you lock the chinlock on, you can be nearly
assured of many players running scared.  And, the theme music, like I
said, is awesome.  However, he is sadly of little use against the CPU
players.

F: Hulk Hogan

A quick run-down: One of (if not THE) the biggest names in wrestling
history.  In this game, he's made nearly invincible.  Sadly, in the
ring of reality, he's slower now than he's ever been.  He no-sells,
which was cool in the 80s but in the new millennium is just goofy.  He
uses a leg drop as a finisher.  A leg drop!  That ranks right up there
with the People's Elbow and the Warrior Splash in credibility.

Finisher: The Super-Duper Leg Drop of DOOOOOOM!  For some reason, he
uses an elbow-drop instead in this game...

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Kick
A+B Attack    - Dropkick
Top Rope      - Bionic Elbow
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Back Body Drop
Onto Fallen   - Elbow Drop

Strategy: Basic moves, use basic strategy.  If you can get close, use
a dropkick.  Or, just fight with punches and kicks.  Either way, he's
really a lot less special than the game wants you to believe.

G: The Ultimate Warrior

A quick run-down: He said big words.  A lot.  I mean, not big enough to
confuse me (ego ego ego), but big enough to turn off a lot of 90s fans,
who often seem to prefer to exercise their hands more when they turn
the TV on than they exercise their minds while watching it.  However,
his ring-work was high-energy but simplistic... but this game captures
only the best of him.  The Warrior Press Slam is the only move that can
throw someone out of the ring, and his other moves look solid and
credible.

Finisher: The Warrior Splash... *snicker snicker*  However, more fans
remember him for his then-incredible Press Slam.

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Headbutt
A+B Attack    - Double Ax-Handle
Top Rope      - Double Ax-Handle
Front Grapple - Warrior Press Slam
Rear Grapple  - Back Body Drop
Onto Fallen   - Elbow Drop

Strategy: Even though the Double Ax-Handle is a disappointing move in
reality, it's quite effective in the game... except for the top rope
variety.  Basically, you should throw your opponent out of the ring
often, especially if you need to stall some.

H: "Ravishing" Rick Rude

A quick run-down: Probably my favorite wrestler in the game, and a
great talent in reality.  He was one of the best "bad guys" in history,
after his promotional speeches, EVERYONE hated him.  Brilliance in
simplicity.  Oh, yeah, and the Rude Awakening is the coolest move in
the game.  Period.  He looks incredibly violent and realistic whenever
he does any of his moves, even simple ones like elbowdrops.  He's the
only character who looks like a heel in the game, especially with the
eye poke and the strange facial expression.  However, the Rude
Awakening really stands out amongst the rest of his move.

Finisher: THE RUDE AWAKENING!  It beats the living heck out of almost
EVERY 80's finisher, except the Flying Elbowdrop and Superfly Splash...
both of which are not present in this particular game anyway.  The Rude
Awakening is absolutely vicious-looking in the game.

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Eye Poke
A+B Attack    - Dropkick
Top Rope      - Missile Dropkick
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - RUDE AWAKENING!!!
Onto Fallen   - Elbow Drop

Strategy: All-out beatdown.  Remember to play the bad guy.  Stall, run
away, poke the eyes, it's all good!  But, keep in mind that if you hit
the Rude Awakening against any human, they'll be too psyched out to
recover any time soon... so lay down the hits!

I: "Macho King" Randy Savage

A quick run-down: OOOOOOOOOOOOH YEEEAAH!  The Macho Man, or at this
time, the Macho King, has always been ahead of his time in pro
wrestling.  He was one of the first to have a cool catchphrase, one of
the first to walk the line between heel and face (and was loved by the
crowd for doing so), and one of the first to truly put forth effort in
his matches, as evidenced in Wrestlemania 3, in which his match is the
only one even watchable by today's standards.  Savage is a legend of
the ring, famous for everything from the Flying Elbow-Drop to the Slim
Jim endorsements.  A true great.  Also, noticable in this game is his
incredibly credible wrestling style, as in multiple occasions just
watching his pixellated knee strike "Yourself" in the head has caused
me to cringe.  Well done job of capturing the true essence of the
Macho One.

Finisher: The Flying Elbow-Drop... Ooooh yeah!  Unfortunately, he does
more of a top rope bionic elbow in this game, but that's only because
you can't do top rope moves to a fallen opponent.

Attack 1      - Punch
Attack 2      - Headbutt
A-B Attack    - Elbow Thrust
Top Rope      - Bionic Elbow
Front Grapple - Body Slam
Rear Grapple  - Back Body Drop
Onto Fallen   - Knee Drop

Strategy: The Elbowthrust is a good move to use in that it is difficult
to time ducking it correctly.  In addition, the knee drop is the best
onto-fallen move in the game, so use it on human players to get a
psychological edge.

4) Walkthrough
=======================================================================

***ROUND ONE***

Your first battle is against Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake.  This guy
is simple and easy to defeat and should pose no challenge whatsoever.
Seriously.  You don't even need my help against this guy.  Just give
him some damage for me!  :)

***ROUND TWO***

Uh-oh.  Here comes "Ravishing" Rick Rude.  Shouldn't have hurt Brutus
so bad, cause here comes some NINTENDO JUSTICE!!!

No, not really.  Actually it's kind of sad that he's so easy to beat in
this game.  Smash him from post to post.  Watch out for the Rude
Awakening neckbreaker, though.

***ROUND THREE***

The Big Boss Man, eh?  Well, then, let's get crackin', shall we?

First thing's first... his Big Belly attack moves a little further than
you may think.  It can do some decent damage if it hits, so remember
to stay on the offensive so he can't hurt ya!  Keep piling the damage
on for a little while and you'll get him, 1, 2, and 3!

***ROUND FOUR***

Now this is the one that you may first start having difficulty with.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.

First off, don't panic.  No, really, quit hyperventilating.  He's just
a flickery Nintendo sprite.  That's not the problem.

The problem is, that three seconds into the match he'll charge at you
and try and spear you right into Never-Never Land.  So, what do you do?
Why, start the battle off by STAYING IN THE CORNER and waiting for him
to come to you.  He'll spear, you'll sidestep him like Bugs Bunny
fighting that bull, and boom!  He's down on the mat!  Follow up with a
leg drop and you've already got him at a disadvantage.  From there-on-
out, you know what to do.

***ROUND FIVE***

OK, remember what I said in the Hacksaw section about not panicking?
The actual reason I said that is because you didn't want to waste your
panic on that guy.  NOW YOU MAY START PANICKING.  It's Andre the Giant.
Not just Andre, a Giant... but Andre THE Giant.  He's really big and
he can do a lot of damage off one hit.  So OUTRUN HIM!  That's the way
to win this fight!  Sneak around him and try to get hits off!  If you
are at low power, hit-and-run!  Good luck!

***ROUND SIX***

The Macho King.  Randy Savage.  OOOOOHHH YEAH!!!!  Now *here's* a
challenge.  Remember, unlike Andre, this guy is FAST and will try to
get rid of you very quickly.  Watch out for the Macho Elbow he does
periodically.  If he seems to be jumping, hit A+B to duck so he will
miss you, look stupid, and you will save the universe!  Remember, if
he hits you then all is lost and the Bacterion race will annihilate
Earth - whoops, I was thinking about Gradius again.  Well, the Macho
King isn't much different from the ships in Gradius.  If he hits you
about five times (yeah sure, you get a "????" shield.), you go BOOM!
And it takes a billion more to take him out.  So be CAREFUL!

***ROUND SEVEN***

Seventh battle and... huh?!  It's Hulk?!  But he was the LAST guy in
the older game?  OK, then.  First off, it will be no help whatsoever
to sing Hulk Hogan's theme music at him.  But if you'd like, then here
are the lyrics:

When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside (doo doo doo doo...)
Gotta take a stand, it's no help to hide (doo doo doo doo...)
If you hurt my friends, then you hurt my pride!
I gotta be a man!  I can't let it slide!
I am a real American!
Fight for the rights of every man!
I am a real American!
Fight for what's right!
Fight for your LIFE!

.. By modern standards, that's some VERY corny theme music.  :)

Well, basically do the same for him as you did against Mach.  But this
time, do it BETTER, and watch out, his dropkick has MUCH better range
than the Macho Elbow.  In fact, it's the same dropkick YOU do.  But it
will do a thousand times more damage because he's the Immortal Hulk
Hogan and you're a 5'0" 75 lbs. redhaired punk kid.  But you win
anyway.

***THE MAIN EVENT***

Whoa!  It's the guy from the big digitized picture from the game with
the world title around his waist!  Gee, who'd have thought that HE'D
be the last boss?!

OK, now you get to fight The Ultimate Warrior.  He's hyperactive and
completely insane, and both of these factors go into his fighting
style in the game.

First off, luckily, he has a goofy double-axehandle attack for his
A+B attack.  This has about ZERO range and you can avoid it easily.
Take him down with YOUR dropkick instead, he seems pretty gullible in
regards to it.

He has a move that can throw you over the top rope, as well.  If this
happens, remember to get in the ring as soon as possible.  Otherwise,
he will get out to the floor and keep you from getting in, thus
getting you disqualified.

***CONGRATULATIONS***

You just won the WWF title!  You've beaten a barber, a ladie's man, an
invincible bodybuilder, a king, a 500 pound man, a lunatic, an evil
cop.... and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.  :)

5) FAQs
=======================================================================

Q1) How come I can't get up?  They keep pinning me!  Help me Caffeine
Commando-wan Kenobi!  You're my only hope!

A1) Well, to get up or kick out of a move, you need to just simply jam
the directional button left and right.  To kick out, you need to have
at least one eighth of your power.  Otherwise, you're screwed.

Q2) Now my dude won't hit my enemy!  No punch!  No kick!  No Tiger
Driver '91!  Help me!!!!

A2) First off, quit inflating my ego by making your question sound
important.

Q2 guy) But I don't exist, you're just talking to yourself.

Back to A2) For a figment of my imagination, you're quite mean.  But...
to do a move, you must NOT be running.  You have to be more or less
standing still, or walking (seems to work most of the time.).

Q3) OK then, smart guy, then how do I run!?

A3) Do the Double Dragon double-tap.  Left-left and hold.

Q4) Wow, that's kind of cool.  Once I saw Hulk Hogan jump out of the
ring in fright when I was beating the crap out of him.  How did he do
that without climbing the turnbuckle?

A4) Go next to the ropes and double-tap in their direction.

Q5) D'oh!  OK then, well... how do I duck under that dropkick?

A5) Do the dropkick command right back at them!  A+B will duck it.

Q6) OK then, final question.  How do I summon the ghostly spectre of
my tag-team partner to mutilate my foe?

A6) Hit a whole bunch of buttons at once.  I think it's Select+A+B.
Make sure he gets away by the ten-count, or else you're disqualified.

Q7) Actually, I lied when I said that was my final question.  My real
final question is: why is the ring chopped in half?!

A7) 'Cause you're playing on an emulator.  Buy the real thing, it's,
what!?  Three bucks at Funco?  You probably won't regret it, this is
a fun game for 1 or 2 players when you're on the real controllers!

=======================================================================
Thanks for playing!  Hope I was of some assistance!
