V. 1.95
Version History:
v. 1.95 - Major rewrite, most missing info filled in.
v. 1.9 - Finished "Shields" and "Helmets" sections, completed a few more random
items in other headings.
v. 1.8 - Finally got a Ninja, as many items updated for Ninja equipability as
possible.
v. 1.7 - Very little to report, few new items, but finding them is getting more
and more difficult. Big news is that I have allowed Neoseeker.com to
host this guide.
v. 1.6 - Not much extra, but FINALLY finished a section (scrolls).
v. 1.5 - More items added, starting to get to the better ones. Also rewrote the
intro (previously nonexistant).
v. 1.3 - Most of the basic goodies done, posted on 1Up.com
v. 1.0 - First release, pretty bare-bones. Posted on GameFAQs.com.
Introduction:
Yay for my very first FAQ! My name's Mike, more commonly known online by the
moniker "the_wizard_666" or simply "The Wizard" or "Wiz." I've been gaming for
18 years, and Wizardry: Knight of Diamonds was one of the very first games I'd
ever managed to beat, no small task for a twelve-year-old. It was by chance I
happened to be going through a box of old papers, searching through to see what
I could junk, when I happened upon my old notes on KOD. I had a feeling that
someone had already made an item list and posted it, but decided to check, just
in case. I then discovered that the notes for this game on GameFAQs was sorely
lacking. That's when I thought - "What's stopping me from putting up my old
notes?" The obvious answer to that question was simply that, although the list
is, to the best of my knowledge, complete, there were huge gaps when it came to
the details. I figured I'd power up the game and see what I could do to fill in
the gaps...and discovered my battery was dead. So it settled it: I would play
the game through again, and again, and again, as long as it took, I would fill
in all the gaps in my notes. Easier said than done I'm afraid...took a fair
amount of time to create my party, and the first couple levels of the dungeon
had very little to yield to me in the way of undocumented items. But I wasn't
about to be deterred...determination has set in, and I've rediscovered my love
for the game. I may do another FAQ on this game once this one hits it's final
version, especially since the FAQs for the game are for the PC/Mac versions, and
not the NES one...but for now, I'm primarily focused on gathering items and
finalizing this guide. I'll be happy if it proves useful for even one person.
Enjoy the fruits of my labours!

Here is a list of all the items in the game, along with their special powers (if
any), resale value, and class/alignment equippability. The letters correspond
to a different class, with the final three being representative of the three
alignments. The "X" and "Y" values under them slightly different for these two,
but basically signify whether an item can be equipped. Under the class headings
(F C T M W S L N) a "Y" signifies that it can be equipped by that class, and an
"X" signifies that it cannot. Under the alignment headings (G N E), a "Y" means
that it can be equipped safely (as long as it can be equipped by a member of the
character's class), whereas an "X" means it will curse your character if the
item is equipped. If a blank occurs under a particular heading, it means that I
lack the information as of the most recent posting, and have no information at
the moment. If you can help complete it, contact me at the address at the end
of the guide, and I will credit you with any help you may provide.
Please note that there are some items that have bonuses to certain types of foes
and other such benefits. The reason I did not list those benefits is partially
because the benefits are fairly obvious (ie Slayer of Dragons), but because the
game does not tell you that the item has such a benefit. So even though the
Slayer of Dragons gives a bonus when fighting dragons, it does not tell you how
big a bonus it is, or whether you indeed get a bonus at all.
* - Cursed item
** - These items CAN backfire, killing your character, or even turning to ash.

*** The Cleric Puncher deals extra damage to Cleric class monsters.
*** The Cleric's Mace deals extra damage to Undead class monsters.
*** The Dagger of Speed allows you to attack up to 7 times. However, it also
has the drawback of adding +3 to your AC, and deals minimal damage.
*** The Great Mage Wand boosts all spell points, both magical and clerical
spells, of all levels to the maximum (9). After it's used, it can be used by
any class, but it wipes your spell list clean! Beware!
*** Hrathnir causes double damage to creatures of the Demon class.
*** The Mace of Snakes is extra-effective against Insect class monsters.
*** The Masher of Mages not only deals extra damage to Mage class monsters, but
it also causes their attacks to be weakened against the user.
*** The Muramasa Blade causes extreme damage, but has a 50% chance of breakage.
*** The Shuriken defends against poison and energy drain attacks.

*** The Amulet of Skill gives you 50,000 XP when used. After use, it can use
the spell Zilwan, and has the ability to return a "Lost" character, although
the character remains dead until ressurected.
*** The Coin of Power has the ability to change a character's class to one of
the upper classes (Samurai, Lord, Ninja). After the first use, it will only
allow a class change to a basic class, changes your character's condition to
"Dead," and disappears.
*** The Damien Stone allows you to cast Zilwan (5% chance of breakage), but may
also be used to return a character from "Lost" to "Dead."
*** The Demon's Stone allows you to use the Malor spell once, but changes your
character's condition to "Ashed." There is one time it's safe to use though...
*** The Rod of Flame has the ability to cast Mahalito (10% chance of breakage)
and gives the user increased protection against fire damage.
