Tokyo Pachi-Slot Adventure is the first in a series of slot machine games for
the Famicom. It is a huge time sink if I have even seen one, since you go
from city to city playing slots, for an hour at each location! There is no
way to speed up this timing, so you're pretty much stuck sticking at a slow
pace through the course of this game. If you are into playing slot machines,
you may enjoy this, otherwise you really aren't missing a whole lot. The only
interesting element is that you compete against computer players to see who
can win the most in each city, but even that is subpar at best. If you don't
have hours (literally) to kill, don't bother with this game; there are plenty
of better games to try instead!

General Information
===================
When you begin the game, you will see a quick cutscene which sets up the
story. Select the first option (はい - yes) when the paper scrolls on the
screen, and you will be ready to begin. You will be given a choice of
difficulty setting (しろうと - novice, じょうれん - normal, プロ - pro),
though the level you pick doesn't make too much of a difference from what I
have seen. You then get to choose to start a new game (hajimekara), or
continue a previous game by entering a password (tsudukikara). Once you are
done here, the game begins.
========
Gameplay
========
In this game, you will go from city to city playing slot machines. There are
six cities total, and you visit each one in order:
1. Shibuya (しぶや)
2. Shinagawa (しながわ)
3. Yuurakuchou (ゆうらくちょう)
4. Ueno (うえの)
5. Ikebukuro (いけぶくろ)
6. Shinjuku (しんじゅく)
You will spend one hour (60 minutes) in each location, and the objective is
to win as many points as possible during your stay. When you first arrive in
each city, you are given 10000 coins, which you must take to the woman at the
counter near the back of the parlor and exchange for points used in the slots
The going rate is 20 coins for 1 point, so you will start with 500 points.
After you have some points, you can walk over to any slot machine and choose
to play it. You can enter up to three points in the machine before spinning
the reels (add points by pressing A, spin by pressing Down). You can then
stop each reel by pressing A again, moving Left/Right if you want to stop a
certain reel first. Once the three reels are stopped, you are given more
points if you won, then you can play again. To view the winning combinations
and their payouts, you can press Select. To leave a machine, press B.
Also on the payout screen is a timer, counting down from 60:00. When it
reaches 0:00, your time at that city is over and the scores are tallied.
Since you are in essence competing with other computer players, you will want
to win as much as possible in that timeframe. A smaller time counter, showing
only the minutes remaining, is in the bottom-right corner of the machine
display.
At the end of each city, depending on your score compared to the other five
players, you will receive some points, as follows:
1st: 6
2nd: 5
3rd: 4
4th: 3
5th: 2
6th: 1
You will then move on to the next city, where the process repeats. Once you
reach the final city and time runs out there, the final tally is made and the
game ends. After completing each city, you are given a password in case you
want to continue from that point at a later time.
