2. Introduction
I confess: I am a Three Stooges nerd. I guess it was bound to
happen eventually, as I grew up watching their films with my brother
on our local independent station in the 80s and 90s. Even as
we got older we never grew tired of their antics.
It wasn't until recently that I re-discovered the Stooges, and
this game was part of that. I remember my brother getting this
game on his birthday many years ago and playing it for everyone.
I don't know if he ever beat the game, but from my experience it
can be somewhat difficult. One part of the more difficult segments
of this game is the trivia section, which I found frustrating until
I did some research. Looking at this game's FAQ section, I figured
I could spare other gamers from the same frustration I had by
making a guide that covers these questions and provides the
answers.
"You mean you actually played through this game several times
and found EVERY SINGLE question?" Okay, okay, I cheated a bit.
I used a hex editor and ROM to find the questions, which, luckily
for hex-impaired folks like myself, were put into the ROM as
regular ASCII text. A simple copy and paste followed by a bit
of cleanup and that was that. I did have to play through the
game some and do quite a bit of research to make sure I had the
correct answers, but they're all here.
Also, just for fun, for some of the questions I put in some
"additional info" that provides more facts about the Q&As
and gives insight into the life and times of the Three Stooges.
Is there a lot of information to cover? Why, soitenly!

the ROM data. When you answer these questions in-game, hold down
the proper direction for the answer and press A to confirm.

----------------------------------------------------------

ADDITIONAL INFO: Shemp had left the group in 1932 as he
was tired of Healy's strictness, and wanted to pursue a
solo career. Curly was brought in as a replacement, but
Healy refused at first because of Curly's long brown hair

After shaving his head bald and losing the mustache, Healy
let him join the act.

B) 1955
C) 1960
A: A) 1946

died in 1952 due to complications from several strokes.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Stooge liked dogs?
A) Larry
B) Moe
C) Curly
A: C) Curly
ADDITIONAL INFO: Curly is said to have cared for numerous
stray dogs that he would find, and he reportedly bought
some as pets during a few of his spending sprees.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: Curly hears "Pop Goes The Weasel", what should you do?
A) Tickle his foot
B) Stop the music
C) Feed him cheese
A: B) Stop the music
ADDITIONAL INFO: This scenario is demonstrated during the
short "Punch Drunks", which is also the basis for the Boxing
mini-game. Whenever Curly hears "Pop Goes the Weasel", he
gets riled up and beats up whoever is in his way, which is
why it's important to stop the music before he moiders ya!
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: Curly goes crazy after seeing a mouse, better feed him...
A) Cheese
B) Fruit
C) Rat poison
A: A) Cheese
ADDITIONAL INFO: "Moe, Larry, the Cheese!" This classic
scene can be found in the short film "Horses' Collars".
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: Moe, Curly and Shemp appeared in only one film together:
A) "Fright Night"
B) "Hugs and Mugs"
C) "Hold That Lion"
A: C) "Hold That Lion"
ADDITIONAL INFO: This short was made after Curly had his stroke.
He had become well enough at this point to at least make a cameo.
He plays a sleeping passenger on an airplane and does his
signature "dog bark" when the Stooges disturb him. This marks the
only time the three Howard brothers ever appeared on screen together.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: How many 3D films did the Stooges make?
A) 3
B) 2
C) 0
A: B) 2
ADDITIONAL INFO: The short films "Spooks!" and "Pardon My Backfire"
were originally released as regular "2D" films and then remastered
into 3D. I haven't seen them myself but it does sound like an
interesting viewing experience!
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: In what year did the Stooges first appear on television?
A) 1958
B) 1947
C) 1971
A: A) 1958
ADDITIONAL INFO: I can't help but find this question misleading.
If it's talking about when the Stooges shorts first entered
syndication then the answer is correct. If it's talking about
their first live appearance then the answer is wrong. The Stooges'
first live television appearance was on the Ed Wynn Show back around
1947/1948.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: In what year did the Stooges finish their last film?
A) 1967
B) 1969
C) 1965
A: C) 1965
ADDITIONAL INFO: Another misleading question. Technically
their last film was "Kook's Tour", which was actually supposed
to be a pilot for a television series that had the guys spending
their retirement traveling the world. It wound up becoming a
film when Larry suffered a stroke while filming and they had to
edit together what footage they had to make it a film. In terms
of being an actual "Three Stooges" film, then the answer above
is correct, as 1965 is when "The Outlaws Is Coming" was released.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: What type of dogs were Curly's favorite?
A) Poodles
B) Boxers
C) Collies
A: B) Boxers
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: What type of therapy was Larry given for an acid burn?
A) Violin lessons
B) Swimming
C) Boxing
A: A) Violin lessons
ADDITIONAL INFO: Larry's father ran a jewelry shop, and as part
of the job he would test various metals to see if they were gold
by using a very powerful acid. When Larry was a child he mistook
a bottle of this acid for a drink and tried to drink from it. His
father noticed and quickly slapped it away, but some of the acid
spilled out and landed on Larry's arm, burning him very badly. The
doctors had to perform a skin graft on his arm, and afterwards they
recommended that he take violin lessons to strengthen the muscles
and nerves in the damaged arm.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Stooge loved sports?
A) Curly
B) Moe
C) Larry
A: C) Larry

would always place bets on them. He also loved baseball, and
was also a trained lightweight boxer.

B) Chicago
C) Hollywood
A: A) Brooklyn
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: What award were the Stooges nominated for?
A) The Emmy
B) The Grammy
C) The Oscar
A: C) The Oscar
ADDITIONAL INFO: The nomination was for the short film "Men in
Black", and was the only Oscar nomination the Stooges ever
received in their career. They did not win the award. Hmm...
think we should petition for an honorary Oscar in their memory?
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: In what year did the Stooges make their first T.V. pilot?
A) 1942
B) 1949
C) 1963
A: B) 1949

and was not picked up by any networks. It remained hidden
from the public until it was made available in the 1990s.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: What was the first product the Stooges endorsed on T.V.?
A) Hot Shot Insecticide
B) Simoniz Car Wax
C) Dickies Slacks
A: A) Hot Shot Insecticide
ADDITIONAL INFO: This was a new one to me. The Simoniz
commercial is pretty well known (it's posted all over YouTube),
and some digging shows that they've done a Dickies ad as well.
Anyone have more information about this?
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: What rock group had Moe haircuts?
A) The Stoogephones
B) The Turtles
C) The Beatles
A: C) The Beatles
ADDITIONAL INFO: Ok, this one is pretty obvious. I don't
think they were inspired by Moe when they decided on the
hairstyle, though.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: In what year did the Stooges stop working with Ted Healy?
A) 1920
B) 1934
C) 1949
A: B) 1934
ADDITIONAL INFO: Eh, pretty much is a repeat of the "What
year did they start working for Columbia" question. At this
point the boys had enough of Healy's stubborness and finally
attempted to break away.
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: In what city was Larry discovered by Moe?
A) Chicago
B) New York
C) Brooklyn
A: A) Chicago

----------------------------------------------------------
Q: What is the Stooges film "Men in Black" about?
A) Was
B) Hospitals
C) Football
A: B) Hospitals
ADDITIONAL INFO: The Doctors job in the game was inspired
by this short. This is also where the famous "Calling Dr. Howard,
Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard" line originated. If you're playing the
Amiga version of the game you will hear this line at the
start of the mini-game.
----------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------
Q: The Stooges received a story credit only once, was it:
A) "Pardon My Scotch"
B) "Punch Drunks"
C) "3 Little Pigskins"
A: B) "Punch Drunks"
----------------------------------------------------------
Q: When Larry's violin is broken in "Punch Drunks", he gets:
A) A radio
B) Another violin
C) A record player
A: A) A radio
ADDITIONAL INFO: This was also part of the basis of the Boxing
mini-game. In the film you see Larry running to the radio store,
getting a radio that plays "Pop Goes the Weasel", and then
returning before Curly gets knocked out. The mini-game requires
you to play out this scene yourself by controlling Larry and
getting him to the store and back before the end of six rounds.
What you don't see in the game, however, is that after he gets back,
the radio changes songs. Curly is suddenly in trouble again and
Moe smashes the radio over Larry's head in frustration!

A) Filmore stadium
B) Kilmore stadium
C) Gilmore stadium
