02.) OVERVIEW & CONTROLS G0200

Menu:

As this game is in Japanese you may need some help with the menu. The golf
menus themselves are all English so once you are past the beginning it is no
problem to play for non-Japanese speakers/readers.
The main menu has three choices: Vs, Championship and Practice. All three
choices have the same sub-menu, which asks if you want to play as Beginner,
Normal or Expert player. This affects wind, the green evenness as well as
opponent toughness.
In versus mode you select another opponent you want to play against. For the
championship you need to square off against opponents until you are champ.
Practice simply goes through each hole by yourself for a score at the end. You
may still select 2-Player but it isn't supposed to be competitive.
Display:

The top view is pretty much standard for golf games. Turn the small cross to
where the direction of the shot should go, then swing. First you need to select
the club, where to hit the ball, then the power, and finally get the bar into
the pink marker for a clean straight shot. Unless, of course, you don't want to
shoot straight for some reason.
Once on the green the display also includes the power bar in the bottom left
corner. The distance is now in the top right and all the grass information is
in the bottom right windows such as bumps and slopes.
Controls:

D-Pad moves the cursor.
A button is to confirm actions, whereas B is to back out to the previous
option.
START pauses the game, and unpauses again.
Features:

As far as I know all the golfers are the same skill and only differ in
appearance.
The CPU often selects a club for you simply measuring distance. These are
generally not good enough for your purpose so pick a lower one to get the
distance.
Wind is random with every shot. You have to compensate by aiming different or
hitting the ball at another spot rather than dead-on. Use a lower club to get
more distance even if without wind it would go way too far. With the wind it
against you it probably won't. The same way, if wind blows with you then it
will carry your ball further in the air. This all means that a high shot should
in theory be more affected by the wind.
The best way to learn is from watching the shots of Expert CPU players. They
might still make mistakes but seeing a good shot and the club/power/position
and swing he used really helps to build your own expertise.

03.) COURSE G0300

These are general hints for the course. They do not take into account every
possible wind effect the game might throw at you, especially on Expert level.
You will need to compensate for this but much less on a lower difficulty
setting.
Hole 1:

Use the 1W to get past the lake just on the left of the trees. This should take
you within 200 yards of the hole. Now take out a high wedge or low iron to get
on the green, ready to birdie.
Hole 2:

Long drive past the left of the first bunker. If you want to risk being in the
rough then go straight for the tree near the green. In fact, the fairway looks
to be going all the way towards the green in a big area but only the left side
is not rough, so aim to the right of the sandbox for a clean shot towards the
hole with shot 3 and attempt another birdie with the fourth shot.

I need to use at least a 5 iron just to get on the green, but at least it drops
very closely to the hole for another birdie attempt.
Hole 4:

Aim slightly left of the default swing and just power through. The river is too
far off so landing on the fair way is all that you can do at this point. A 5
iron should get you on the green for another birdie.
Hole 5:

The first task is to get on the fair way patch on the right side. If you aim
straight ahead you will most likely land in the rough. I tend to use a 6 wedge
for both shots to get on the green. The rest is formality.

I tend to use a 7 iron to simply get across the tree line for a birdie or even
a hole-in-one.

Power through a little right, landing in the small tip of the fair way between
the river and the sand box. It is possible to get on the green from here and
attempt an eagle, however, you may want to play it safe for a birdie instead
and just go left of the second sandbox and then get on the green from there.
Hole 8:

Get ahead on the fair way, then perhaps a 5W or 3I to get on the green. This
could be a birdie.

The first shot is a no-brainer. For the second shot you may want to select one
or two clubs lower than the CPU recommends. I usually get closer to the hole
this way.

You could try to hit the ball straight towards the green, but risk falling into
the sand box if wind helps you a little. Aiming a little to the right should
help prevent that. Then use the appropriate club to get on the green for the
eagle attempt. I think everyone should be able to get that on Beginner level.

A long drive should land on the left of the sandbox. Use a 3 or 4 iron to get
near the flag.

That huge chasm prevents you from the usual "power forward" routine. Instead
you should only hit the ball for around 220 yards just before the rough part
near the edge. A long drive to the green is all that's required now.

Land on the fair way below the single tree and the sand box. As usual I'd use
a slightly lower club to get near the flag, perhaps 2 lower than the CPU
suggests.

It might only be 202 yards but using the 1W I get on the green and not with the
others.

Watch out for the wind, aim slightly more right to avoid the water hazard. The
second shot should already land on the green for an eagle attempt.

This one is not so straightforward. My tactic is to use a 9 iron to get in
front of the trees up ahead. Then with a 6W I power onto the green. With more
wind this tends to more tricky and one needs to go around the left side and
just get par. Otherwise a birdie might be in for you after all.

This one's pretty easy, 2 shots to get a birdie and not much tactic required.

A power drive will land on the left side of the tiny bunker. Then I would
recommend a 6 iron to land on the green.

This isn't meant to be a full review, just a few notes about the game's pros
and cons as well as other things worth mentioning.
Gameplay: 8/10
Wow this game is easy in helping you out to put and select clubs. Of course
club selection can be wrong. When you set the game to harder the wind really
blows. I mean, on Easy you have no wind, on Hard you have a lot of wind, and
that's it. Instead they should have called it "Weather Hazard Course" because
it's really like playing ouside on a bad day. Lack of features in the game
itself mars any longevity.
Graphics: 7/10
The courses look good, a little boring and featureless perhaps. Putting is a
nice touch with the crowd watching.
Sound: 6/10
The music is always the same so that's bad, and the sound effects, or rather
lack of, really puts down the game's music.
Overall: 7/10
A decent golf sim, if only for a short while.
