|-I.---------------------- THE STORY SO FAR --------------------------|
=======================================================================
You wake up one morning and decide to take to the streets on your
skateboard. You start to pay less and less attention to the road as
you argue with the neighborhood enemy, Icepick. Your lack of attention
causes you to accidentally crush and kill Fifi. Fifi is a poodle, but
more importantly, a poodle that belongs to the Mayor's wife. Because
he is so whipped, the mayor outlaws skateboarding. But for some reason
everyone in town ignores the new law, stranger still, no one is
punished for breaking it. So you decide your fist objective is, attack
the Mayor's wife. For unknown reasons and to an unknown end. I guess
you think you can reverse the law by murdering the Mayor's wife.
Anyway...
=======================================================================
|-II.----------------------- INTRODUCTION ----------------------------|
=======================================================================
First off, forget the story. It has nothing to do with the rest of the
game. I don't know why they bother to tell you about it.
There are 5 main characters:
Rodney: Some guy who owns a skateboard store. This guy will sell you
new boards. You pay with food or music.
=-Lester-=
The son of Rodney, this guy is the local skateboard trick and
and will share some of his knowledge with you, for a price. Just like
his dad, you pay him with music and food.
=-CJ-=
Your friend, she serves no real purpose in the game. She will
appear only in cut scenes, and in the final boss fight.
=-Icepick-=
He is the final boss in the game. He is just basically some
idiot who looks way to old to be skateboarding. He, for one
reason or another, hates you and CJ.
=-You-=
That's right, they gave the dog a name but not you. They just
call you "you, our hero".
Anyway, basically you ride around town trying to save you halfpipe.
Along the way you will learn new tricks, buy new boards, and pick up
your "money". You will use chili fries, tacos, tapes, and CDs as
currency for Rodney and Lester. You can find these items in hidden
rooms, on things you have to jump on, and enemies when you kill them.
The game is split up into four Stages
1. The Streets
2. The Mall
3. The Beach
4. The Plant
=======================================================================
|-III.---------------------- THE CONTROLS ----------------------------|
=======================================================================
You use right and left to go control yourself on your skateboard. The
controls can be a little tricky though. For example, if you are moving
left and you want to move right, you can't just hit right. You have to
stop, turn around, and then go right. You can stop your board by just
pressing in the opposite direction you are going. You also start with
the programmable ability to do a 180 kickturn. This will turn you a
little quicker. Your maneuverability will increase as you learn new
tricks. You can program weapons and tricks into three action slots.
Here are the buttons for each activity:
1. Up-B
2. Forward-B
3. Down-B
Press select to view your items and weapons, and also to program your
three action slots.
Use the A button to jump. The faster you are going the farther you
will jump.
=======================================================================
|-IV.------------------- PICK-UPS AND WEAPONS ------------------------|
=======================================================================
You will find many things on the ground and left by enemies that will
help you in the game, they include:
Tacos
Chili Fries
CDs
Tapes
M-80s
Eggs
Paint Clips
Health
You can use the tacos, fries, tapes, and CDs in exchange for new
skateboards and to learn new tricks.
To get new boards, you need to run into a fat guy wearing green, and is
eating something purple. This guy is Rodney. When you run into him,
he will name the board he wants to sell and how much he wants. If you
agree, he will take the amount from you. You can't get the new board
if you don't have enough stuff.
If you want to learn new tricks, you should talk to a thin guy wearing
black with green hair. This kid is called Lester. He will be doing
some kind of "walk like an Egyptian" kind of dance as he skates by. He
can be a little hard to catch because he skates faster than Rodney
does. Transactions with him will go just like with Rodney.
You will also find eggs, M-80s, and paintball clips. These power-ups
give you more ammo for its respective weapon.
The paintball gun fires balls of paint at an enemy. It is easy to aim,
since all you have to do is face the direction of the enemy. The
bullet will fly forward until it either hits its target, or flies off
screen. You reload it with paintball clips. Each clip gives you 16
shots.
The M-80 and the egg are pretty much the same. When you throw them,
they go forward and down at an arc. They can be very difficult to aim.
Unlike the paintball gun you do not get a clip of M-80s or eggs. Each
time you pick an M-80 or egg, you just get one.
The health power-up looks like a little white skull in a little red
box. I have no idea why. When you get it you will receive 7 health
bars.
=======================================================================
|-V.---------------------- BOARDS AND TRICKS -------------------------|
=======================================================================
First the boards, you can get a total of 5 boards in the game.
Pokey: This is the board you start with. Slow and can't go very high
Slipstream: Let's you go a little faster and jump a little higher
Rocket: goes faster and jumps higher than boards before
Afterburner: goes faster and jumps higher than boards before
Hangtime: The fastest board you can get
You will be offered the Slipstream and Rocket in the 1st Stage. You
will have the option of buying the Afterburner and Hangtime in the 3rd
Stage.
Here are all 7 of the tricks you can learn in the game.
180 Kickturn: You start with this one, a basic stop and turn around
Duck Shoot: Crouch and fire a weapon
Skid Stop: A soft, easy skid to a stop
Brickwall Stop: Now matter the speed, screech to a sudden halt
Tail Bump: Throws eggs or M-80s off the back of your board
720 Kickturn: Spin around twice, any enemies near you will take damage
You can learn the 180 Ollie, Duck Shoot, and Skid Stop in the 1st Stage.
When you reach the 3rd Stage, you can learn the Brickwall Stop, Tail
Bump, and 720 Kickturn. Most of the tricks are kind of useless. The
720 Kickturn though is a very good weapon to use on enemies,
particularly against other skateboarders.
=======================================================================
|-VI.------------------------ ENEMY LIST -----------------------------|
=======================================================================
All enemies, excluding the mayor's wife and Icepick, die from one paint
shot.
Enemy Skateboarders: Just like you, these guys can attack with paint,
eggs, or M-80s. These guys can be killed with just one paint shot. So
naturally the paintball gun is the best weapon to use against them.
These guys appear in every stage.
Boxing Lizards: You will only find these guys in the sewers of the 1st
stage. They will be guarding power-ups, usually life. They can only
hurt you when you come close to them, so the best attack is from far
away.
Dogs: These animals can be very annoying, because you can't actually
kill them. All you can do is be going fast enough to jump over them.
Luckily they only appear in the 1st stage.
Rats: Easy to kill, just land on them to squash them with your board.
They only appear in the sewers of the 1st Stage.
Mallguard/Bellhop: He can't hurt you and you can't hurt him. All he
can do is move you to a random escalator in the mall if you run it to
him. Sometimes you will get a verbal warning and sometimes you will be
moved. Naturally he only appears in the mall (2nd Stage). He looks
like a bellhop with a purple suit and hat.
Shoppers: Men and women who are carrying large amounts of merchandise.
They will knock you down if you hit them. Since they only appear in
the mall level, they can waste a lot of your time. About all you can
do is avoid them.
Crabs: Pretty obvious what they are. These little things will hurt you
if you come into contact with them. Luckily, they are as easy to kill
as the sewer rats. You will only see them on the 3rd stage.
Seagulls: You will hear a bird screech just before they fly on screen.
That noise is your cue to duck down. Not only will these birds hurt
you, but they will take you stuff too. Contact with too many of them
can result in loss of all of your fries, CDs, tapes, and tacos. You
will meet up with them on the beach.
Roller-skaters: Women who are roller-skating on the beach sidewalks.
They will knock you down, not unlike the mall shoppers. One the plus
side these girls carry music and food.
Body-builders: Big guys showing off their muscles. They are pretty
easy to avoid, but since they can hold items it is usually worth
getting rid of them.
=======================================================================
|-VII.------------------------ STAGE ONE -----------------------------|
=======================================================================
You will start out on the far left of this stage. There are six doors
that you can enter, and they contain:
1st: This room just contains one easy to reach CD.
2nd: Room containing two paint clips.
3rd: Leads to same room as 2nd door.
4th: Here you find the Mayor's wife (the final boss) and one paint clip
5th: Room contains two health pick-ups
6th: Leads to same room as 5th door.
There are also 4 manholes you can enter. Here they are:
1st: You will find yourself in one long hallway. In this hallway you
can pickup one taco, CD, paint clip, tape, and health pickup
2nd: This is just the exit to the hallway listed above.
3rd: Two boxing lizards guarding two health pickups and some paint
4th: Two lizards guarding two health pickups and one CD
Your main objective here is to defeat the mayor's wife. But before you
do that, make sure you get the fastest available board from Rodney.
Without the rocket board, the next stage will be much more difficult.
I suggest using this level to collect as much stuff as you can. You
will want it later. When you go on the hunt for items, I would suggest
not trying to get the life guarded by the lizards in the 3rd manhole.
It is almost impossible to get up there, and if you do they will kill
you before you have time to fire.
First, talk to Rodney to buy both the new boards, then, collect as many
items as you can without wasting too much life, then go right as far as
you can and go in either the 5th of 6th door. Get the life there and
then head left and enter the first door you find. Here you are the 1st
Stage boss battle.
The best way to kill the Mayor's wife is to keep your distance and fire
your paintball gun. Using the paintball gun it will take about 10
shots. If you are distanced right, you can throw a couple of M-80s or
eggs her way. They should count about the same as a couple of paint
balls. Either way she should be no big deal, just duck when she throws
her rolling pin, and jump when she rolls it along the ground. If you
get too close she will swing her purse at you. Get her rhythm down in
your head, then it should be easy to time you shots.
When you fire the final shot or throw the final egg, she will be gone
and you move on to...
=======================================================================
|-VIII.----------------------- STAGE TWO -----------------------------|
=======================================================================
Well as the story just told you, you need money to buy a building
permit for your halfpipe. (Even though it is supposed to be illegal) To
make your money you will be making deliveries in the local shopping
mall. The strategy for this stage is obvious; get to the store you
were told to go to before the clock runs down. If you got the rocket
board last stage it should not be that hard. If not, you're pretty
screwed.
I will give each store a number. A number with a "T" in front of it
means a store on the top floor. A number with a "B" in from of it
means it is on the bottom floor. I would suggest pausing the game after
you learn your next destination, then finding the store on the map and
finding the quickest way there. Remember that you start on the bottom
floor. Your first delivery will always be Weremouse Records, but after
that the destinations are all random.
Here is the bottom floor, reading from left to right:
B1=B Walton Booksellers
B2=Joes Formal Wear
B3=Minnie Shoes
B4=Margestrom
B5=Stillers Outpost
B6=Weremouse Records
B7=Rhinestone Jewelers
B8=Floorshine Shoes
B9=Royandale Cinema
B10=Pathos Fashions
B11=One Minute Photos
Here is the top floor, reading from left to right:
T1=Tall Stout and Deformed
T2=Pricey Gifts
T3=William's Nut House
T4=Kafka's Candies
T5=The Taco Pit
T6=Royandale Petcenter
T7=Pups-on-a-Pike
T8=Cafe Skafe
T9=Frisky Yogurt
T10=Pizza-by-the-ton
T11=Healthy Nutritious Food (YOU WILL NEVER DELIVER HERE)
T12=Salon D'Albino
T13=Wumpus World
T14=Just Lids
Here is the map that corresponds with the above listing.
Top Floor------->E|T1|T2|T3|T4|T5|T6|T7|T8|T9|T10|T11|T12|T13|T14|E
Bottom Floor---->E|B1|B2|B3|B4|B5|B6|B7|B8|B9|B10|B11|E
The "E" at the beginning and end of each floor marks where there is an
escalator.
EXAMPLE: Your first delivery would be Weremouse Records, so from the
bottom floor escalator go right past 5 stores to reach B6. Skate into
the doorway and read the screen for your next delivery and any tip you
may have received. If your next assignment was, let's say The Taco
Pit; you would go left all the way to the escalator. Take that
escalator up to the top floor, then ride past 4 stores to reach T5.
The map should be easy to read and understand.
Notice that the top floor is three stores longer than the bottom floor.
So sometimes even if your next delivery is on the top floor, it may be
easier to take the bottom floor if you need to go completely across.
You will have to make a total of 12 deliveries. The top of the screen
tells you how many deliveries you have left. On the upper left of the
screen, it will tell you how much time you have left to make a
delivery. Although is says you have two minutes, that is not at all
true. By comparing it to the real game clock you can clearly see the
seconds go by faster than real seconds do. You actually have about 44
seconds to make each delivery. You have to move fast because you fail
this stage on your third late delivery.
The fastest way to travel is right along the bottom of the screen.
That is because you will not run into the shoppers down there. The
downside to that is you'll run into the purple guard much more often
traveling at the bottom. If he does catch you and move you to an
escalator, check the map to see which floor you are on. He does not
always leave you on the floor you were on. He just randomly puts you
at one of the four escalators.
One the plus side, although there are many of them around, you will not
see much trouble from the enemy skaters. Your biggest annoyance will
be the shoppers.
If you make a delivery with more than 20 "seconds" to spare, you will
receive a tip. You tip comes in the form of tapes, CDs, fries, tacos,
paint, eggs, or M-80s.
Also, there are a few secret pick-ups to be found. On every odd
numbered delivery except the 1st; if you enter into the secret store,
then you will receive an item. These "secret stores" must be visited
while you are on the way to the actual delivery site, and are listed
below:
3rd Delivery: Rhinestone Jewelers
5th Delivery: Wumpus World
7th Delivery: Kafka's Candies
9th Delivery: Stiller's Outpost
11th Delivery: Pathos Fashion
With this map the level should become a breeze, if, you got the Rocket
board that is.
=======================================================================
|-IX.------------------------ STAGE THREE ----------------------------|
=======================================================================
Okay, there is not a whole lot to write about here, but I'll do my
best.
You need to retrieve 16 pages of halfpipe plans before they blow off of
the beach. You pick them up like any other item, just ride over them.
Some will be in areas you can't reach. To get those just wait until
the wind blows them to a reachable area. They do not put a time limit
up, but you do have one. When the first plan blows off the beach, you
fail the stage. So you need to move as fast as possible. This is also
your last chance to get any boards or tricks before the final level.
There are 2 possible new boards to buy here, the Afterburner board and
the Hangtime board.
If you learned the first three tricks in Stage One, here you can learn
the Brickwall Stop and the 720 Turnabout. (Both explained in section e)
The boards and tricks are hard to get here, because of the seagulls.
They will take your fires, CDs, tapes, and tacos if they touch you. So
try to duck down when you hear them coming.
The ramps can be difficult to maneuver, so it is best to stay off of
them. Also it is almost impossible to stick a landing after coming off
of one of them.
One of the hardest things about this stage is there is no health to
pickups here. So try to avoid rather than fight the skaters and
bodybuilders. Well, that's about all that can be said. Just go as
fast as you can and make every effort to avoid the enemies. With a
little practice you should be on your way to the final stage.
=======================================================================
|-X.------------------------- STAGE FOUR -----------------------------|
=======================================================================
Here is the most useful part of this FAQ in my opinion. It is a
walkthrough for the final Stage, The Plant. There are four levels to
the plant: Grey, Green, Blue, and Red. You will use the elevators to
move in between each level. You path will take you through 10
elevators, to the building permit, back down those 10 elevators, then
through 18 more elevators to the top of the plant. Down below, you
will find a list of instructions on the left and on the right a little
map to make things easier to understand. On the map an "X" will stand
for on room. An "S" will mean the room you started in. An "F" will
mean the room you are going to. A "P" will mean the room you find a
permit in. And the small lines will show the direction you take to
move about the rooms. Make sure you follow the map exactly. This is a
complicated maze and you can get lost easily.
(Note: I will add the full Stage Four map in a future update, but for
now I'll just show you the route you need to take to reach the end)
Step one:
From where you first start X-X
go up three, left one, | |
then down one. Skate into F X
the elevator you find in |
that room. X
|
S
-------------------------------------------------------
Step two:
This step is pretty X-S

Step three:
Go left once, up X-X
twice, right one, | |
then down one. X F
Elevator. |

After you get it,
go back through on

Because now you
have to go back
down to the

Step nine:
Now we start head- X-X

Step twenty four:
Finally, the elevator
you find on this floor X-X
will take you to the | |

roof of the plant. | |
To reach the roof X X
go left one, up five, | |
right one, and down X X
four. | |
X F
|
X-S
------------------------------------------------------
That's it, finally.
=======================================================================
|-XI.------------------------ FINAL BOSS -----------------------------|
=======================================================================
If you made it through the very long map correctly, you should now be
on the roof of the plant. You will see Icepick right in front of you
and CJ above and to the left. Icepick has two attacks, he will fire
something at you, or he will roll at you. Either way, your best bet is
to fire as fast as possible. It will take 14 paint shots to destroy
him.
I found it very difficult to hit him with any eggs or M-80's. Also,
you can't hit him with the 720 kickturn without taking damage yourself.
So your best weapon is just the paintball gun. I hope you have a lot
of clips. Just stand back and fire.
Once you finish him off, the game will be done. You'll then see some
lame little ending.
