INTRODUCTION

This is some sort of sequel to the Bubble Bobble games but the gameplay is
totally different. You attack with Rainbows instead of Bubbles and the only
time that enemies look like those of Bubble Bobble is when they die. The only
exception to the rule is during the final level which is Bubble Bobble themed.

STORY

Your people have been kidnapped by some evil being except for your brother
Bobby. As Bubby, your job is to collect the seven big rainbow diamonds and
save your people.

CONTROLS

Pause - pause/unpause the game
1 - jump, hold to bounce of rainbow, start game
2 - shoot rainbow
D-pad - move left or right

ITEMS

Shoes - make you run faster
Diamonds - collect all 7 colors in one stage to get the big diamond at the end
of the stage (red,orange,yellow,green,turquoise,blue,violet).
Food - they are worth different points
Orange jar - faster rainbows
Red jar - double rainbows
Star - let's out a ring of smaller stars and kill all that they touch
Red Star - more powerful than the normal star
Microphone - kill all onscreen enemies with random magic.
White star - 1up
Holy Water - a ring of discs move out and move in and kill anything it touches.
Magic Wand - Ring of stars everytime you jump on a rainbow and knock it down.
Magic Fairy- Circles you and kill all enemies it touches.

BRIEFING

At the end of the level, you get to choose to talk or get an item from Bobby
that is a game of chance.
You do not have infinite time. The water will rise if you take to long.
At the end of each level you get bonus food.
You'll know what colors diamonds you need because each color represents a
letter in the word "Rainbow"
R - red
A - orange
I - yellow
N - green
B - cyan
O - blue
W - violet
You'll know when you got them all when the word "nice" appears.

STAGE 1-1

Start off by killing the caterpillars and lady bugs and go up to the next
screen and kill some more. Reach the top to finsih the level.

STAGE 1-2
o---------------------o
There are caterpillars, ladybugs and bees to take out. A star will show up and
will have enough range to kill the majority of the enemies near the top. There
is a star, red star and a microphone in the next area. After reaching the top,
there is only a small area to maneuver through and that's it.

STAGE 1-3
o---------------------o
There is nothing new in this first screen except the microphone causes thunder
bolts to come down and kill anyone it touches. In the next screen, the thunder
bolts will still be in effect for a short time so make your way to the top or
stick around and try to spell Rainbow. At the top, you encounter hoping spiders
who can be dealt with like the others. I just pointed them out because you'll
know more about one of them later on.

STAGE 1-4
o---------------------o
There is more enemies. Kill the spiders falling down first. Go up the middle
and kill the bee and a ladybug on one side. Shoot the rainbow through the side
and it'll come out through the other side and maybe kill the ladybug. Kill the
caterpillars and bouncing spiders on route to the next screen. Start by
climbing up the sides. Kill the enemies around and hop up the small steps all
the way to the top.

STAGE 1 BOSS

Boss: Spidey
Qucikly run up the side while its color comes in and shoot as many rainbows as
you can before it starts bouncing. He should be dead before he even moves much
if you are quick. Antother strategy is to form a lot of rainbows while he is
low and drop them all on him and he's dead.

INTERMISSION 1

Narrator: Oh look it is Bobby
You get the big red diamond. If you press 2 to talk...
Bobby: Gosh I was caught by the enemy when I fell. Oh well.
Bubby: You're really a goof. I was worried.
Bobby: Sorry, But anyway I heard something good. If you collect the Diamonds
in all seven colors, something wonderful will happen.
Bubby: What's the wonderful thing?
Bobby: I don't know!? I will go ahead and check. See You!

STAGE 2-1
o---------------------o
Kill all the tanks before they shoot you with their bullets. There is lots of
popsicles and candy at the start. In the next screen, airplanes fly back and
forth. You can pick off the tanks as they fall.

STAGE 2-2
o---------------------o
There are tanks and planes galore. There is a spot where you climb up the side
at the beginning but use the rainbows to climb up the middle and kill the
tanks while they are going away.There is one cannon near the top of the first
screen. Kill it and avoid the bomb. Just a couple tanks and cannons and that's
it.

STAGE 2-3
o---------------------o
Only new enemies are the helicopters. The planes drop bombs now. The microphone
sends lightning. Use it to kill all the tough to reach enemies.

STAGE 2-4
o---------------------o
Climb up the middle and grab the medal to cause a rain of stars to fall down
and kill everyone it touches. At the top is 2 helicopters and a cannon and the
boss awaits above.

STAGE 2 BOSS

Boss: Choppy
Choppy moves back and forth dropping bombs at you. Avoid them and by staying
in between bombs and it will drop down or rise up to your level and move back
and forth again.

INTERMISSION 2

Narrator: What is a pretty girl doing on a place like this?
Girl: Thank you for helping me. I'll give you a big diamond for this
You get the orange diamond. If you press 2 to talk...
Bubby: What is your name?
Girl: Me? Sally. Will you do me a favor?
Bubby: Well... Yes. What is it?
Sally: I want you to find my grandfather who was kidnapped by an evil monster.
We were seperated on the way here. Perhaps he was caught by the evil monster.
Bubby: Oh, I am sorry. I will help you! I will find your grandfather.
Sally: Promise?

STAGE 3-1
o---------------------o
You are outside of a castle. The Frankenstein Monsters are no real danger but
there are vampires who breath fire. Take them out quick and head for the next
screen. There are bats in this part too. As you go up, there are a lot of
thin and small steps. In the next screen, you'll need to use a rainbow to get
up the platform and time it so the Frankenstein monsters don't kill you.

STAGE 3-2
o---------------------o
In the first screen, kill skulls, bats, and cyclopses. There is a magic wand
that sends a ring of stars everytime you jump on a rainbow. Climb up using the
rainbows. Use the rainbow stars to kill anyone in the way. There is a pillar
of flames in the middle of one platform. Don't touch them. There is a vampire
that shoots lightning bolts. In the net screen, there are two platforms with
pillars of flames. The bottom row has them in the middle and the top has them
on each side. Avoid the middle flames on the bottom one and use rainbows to
reach the middle of the top one and make it to the top. On the next screen,
kill the fire breathing vampires and Frankenstein monsters on the way up.

STAGE 3-3

Make your way to the top as fast as you can, The microphone will kill everyone
on screen. Next screen, you have bats and cyclopses and small steps to deal
with. After that, ghosts make their debut. They drop fire. Kill the lightning
bolt vampires and the bats at the top and there are small steps on the way up.
On the last screen is all the enemies that you faced in this level.

There are thre platforms with flames in this pattern

Get past them and use the steps in the middle to get to the next screen.
The bull head ornaments blows fire at you. Make it to the top as quick as
possible to get them out of your way. On the way up this screen is a platform
with flames, Kill the enemies and go up the sides instead. Now there are more
fire breathing bull ornaments and flames in the air on the sides. You can kill
the ornaments to stop their fire.

STAGE 3 BOSS

Boss: Fangs
Fangs sends three bats in a 3-way pattern in the direction you are in. Let him
come to you and when he's at the bottom, let him have it. The rainbows will
block his bats.

INTERMISSION 3

Narrator: My Goodness! It's Fangs
You get the big yellow diamond. Press 2 to talk...
Fangs: Ha-ha-ha-ha. I will bite your neck!
Bubby: Oh yeah? get a whiff of this!
Bubby took a piece of garlic from his pocket and started eating it. Bubby
exhaled his smelly breath!
Fangs: Oh, it stinks!
He defeated Fangs
Then Fangs' appearance began to change! Oh my, Fangs was actually Bobby!
Bobby: Well I was caught again when I fell...did I bite your neck? I'm sorry.
Instead, I will give you some information. I heard the dark evil monster lives
at the bottom of the sea!
Bubby: But how do we get there? To tell the truth, I can't swim!
Bobby: I don't know! Perhaps we'll find out later, won't we!? I am leaving now.
See you later!

STAGE 4-1
o---------------------o
There are nuts (tools type) flying back and forth. Maneuver up to them and kill
them then as you go up, watch for the spikes on the sides and kill another nut
and a robot and jump to the next screen. Kill more nuts and robots and hop to
the next screen. Climb up the right side to avoid the spikes and kill the nuts
and exit to the top.

STAGE 4-2
o---------------------o
There are two nuts and there are spikes above, first get to the upper right
platform at the bottom and use a rainbow to get to the corner of the next
platform carefeully and use the rainbows to move to the left without having to
jump or worry about the spikes and get on the platform above and climb up the
left and kll the bullet shooter before it shoots another bullet. Ignore the one
across and onto the next screen. Use the rainbow and move to the top over to
the open spot for you to jump through then jump through and opening in the
spikes and climb up the left side. On the next screen, avoid the spikes and
you also got bolts to go through to. There is a flash screen microphone. In the
last scree, make your way through nuts, wrenches and guns to the top.

STAGE 4-3
o---------------------o
Get to the top of the first screen fast then on the next screen, avoid the
spikes and take care of the robot heads and bolts. Use a rainbow at the end of
the first platform and jump onto a corner then use the rainbows and walk across
them first before using the next one. Do the same for the next platform. On the
platform within safe haven, use one rainbow and manuever under a safe spot and
jump up. Get to the top and the enemies are gone. Now in this screen, kill the
guns and nuts and get the magic wand and there is a trick, jump to the next
screen and the stars that were supposed to be on the pervious screen will kill
the enemies on the next screen instead. Get inbetween the spikes at the top and
jump to the next screen. Here, take out the six guns and get to the top quickly
and kill the nuts because you won't have much time left and the water rises.

STAGE 4-4
o---------------------o
Climb up the left side of the first screen and move through the spikes, by
killing the robots as they fall then make it to the top of the screen. For the
next screens, it is easy to make it to the top of each if you use your rainbows
to climb and kill.

STAGE 4 BOSS
o---------------------o
Boss: Robby
Robby moves back and forth shooting his fists at you. It will change levels and
move back and forth, it it is one level above you then you have an advantage
by hitting its feet.

INTERMISSION 4

Robby: You came all the way here. Take it easy. Here, take it.
You get the big green diamond. Press 2 to talk...
Robby: Hey, I was a great hero at one time. Then I started to lose control of
my life and was dependent on my vices. Now, I am just a third-rate character.
Go ahead young man, laugh at me!
Bubby: Hey, take it easy.
Robby: And I was earning a low salary. I couldn't even feed my family. Then I
decided...I'm going to change my life. I am going to start all over again.
Bubby: Yeah, that's the best thing.
Robby: Thank you, young man. I will tell you something as a token of my
appreciation. The bosses after this screen are cowardly and all of them use
magical powers to hide. If you don't get the crystal ball, they won't appear.
Be careful!

STAGE 5-1
o---------------------o
This level in general is reminiscent of the game Arkanoid and the enemies look
like they are straight from that game. The only sounds in this level are the
enemies bouncing off the blocks which do not break. At the top are molecules
and one holds a magic fairy. The next screen has saucers, pyramids, blocks, and
they all fall before the fairy. As you head to the next screen. The fairy
should be around to kill the blocks at the start of the next screen. Two reveal
stars to kill more blocks. A molecule holds a magic wand. Climb up and kill
more molecules. On te next screen, you have a safe shot to the top with your
weapons on hand.

STAGE 5-2
o---------------------o
Kill the blocks and make your way up the small blocks and use blocks to climb
up and kill the molecules. On the next screen, as you go up, you will have to
avoid the electric fences and get past them when they are off. Kill the
saucers. You can also get past the fences by going up in between them unharmed.
Use that strategy for the next screen and kill the enemies here and get a holy
water from one of them. On the next screen, you have a straight shot to the
top with holy water in hand.

STAGE 5-3

Just climb to the top of each stage. The crystal ball is located on the "head"
of a set of blocks shaped like a Space Invaders enemy. There are two more
screens to get to the top of. You won't have much time to kill everyone so use
your wits and avoid most of them if you can.

STAGE 5-4
o---------------------o
Get the magic ring and plow your way up the screen as the electric fences are
no match for you. On the next screen, you must climb up through the middle but
kill the molecules in the way first and wait for the electric fence to turn off
before proceeding. Kill the pyramids and molecules and head to the top. Now
just maneuver through blocks and pyramids till you reach the top of this screen
and on the nxet screen, avoid the electric fences and take out any enemy you
can when safe.

STAGE 5 BOSS

If you got the magic crystal ball, you can see where Doh is. I guess they
decided to throw in Doh to complete the Arkanoid nostalga. It is no surprise
since the game was made by the same people (Taito). Avoid the squares, spits
and use rainbows to get to his level and start shooting at him. When he opens
his mouth, he'll spit more. Keep up with him and he's down.

INTERMISSION 5

Boss: Doh
Knight: Thank you for your help. I will give you this.
You get the big cyan diamond. Press 2 to talk...
Knight: I was on my way to destrou the evil monster and save the village people
I was captured and now feel ashamed.
Bubby: Me too.
Knight: Oh you too? But I'm sure you can make it in the end. However, you must
be very careful. It is said the evil monster uses magic to disguise himself.

STAGE 6-1
o---------------------o
Hmm another Taito game salute, this one is of Kiki Kaikai (the prelude game to
the Pocky and Rocky series). Kill all of the enemies and avoid the pandora's
box projectiles. Some enemies toss rocks and others drop fire. The enemies to
beware are are the guppies that can go through rainbows. If all goes well, you
can get all seven diamonds in this level and can rush through the rest of the
levels if you like.

STAGE 6-2
o---------------------o
Get the microphone and lightning will come down. On the next screen there is a
house with heads with long necks coming out. kill the heads to get them out of
the way. On the next screen, the heads block the middle. Wait for them to
retract then go up. A star will help kill some annoying enemies above. On
the next screen is minimal resistansce to the end.

STAGE 6-3
o---------------------o
Let the enemies fall and kill them and use the stars to kill more enemies.
Make a break to the top and avoid the pandora's boxes. For the next two screens
let the magic wand do its work. Climb up the middle of the last screen and kill
all in the way.

STAGE 6-4
o---------------------o
Make a break for the top of each stage as the enemies minus the guppies offer
little resistance.

STAGE 6 BOSS

Boss: Cindy (aka Pocky)
Cindy bounces back and forth throwing ninja cards. Try to stay behind her and
under her as much as you can and pelt her with rainbows. Kill her and she
becomes a teddy bear and dies.

Narrator: Ha, if it isn't Cindy
Cindy: Thank you for helping me out. I want to give you this.
You get the big blue diamond. Press 2 to talk...
Cindy: You really are strong, aren't you. I adore you.
Bubby: You flatter me.
Cindy: Will you take me out for a date one of these days?
Bubby: Oh sure! With pleasure.
Bobby: I saw that, you Romeo! Shall I tell Betty?
Bubby: No, no, it's not what you think.
Cindy: Hmmm...looks like you already have a girlfriend. How distressing! Well,
never mind. I will tell you something anyway. They say the diamond rod is in
the evil monster's treasure room. The rod will give you a choice of three
wishes. So you better choose wisely.

STAGE 7-1 - 7-4
o---------------------o
Now this level pays homage to Darius series. We'll just sum up this level as a
whole since its nothing major. The enemies to beware of are the upside-down
guns that shoot fireball. Other enemies hop or shoot fireballs too. Use your
wits to avoid or kill them and reach the top of each screen. Sorry, I am
being vague here but there really isn't much to say. At the beginning of stage
two are spike balls to avoid. Also on the last two screens of 7-2 are barely
any footholds so rainbow up as high as you can. Vases and spikes annoy you
halfway through 7-3. Also in 7-3 is a holy water and fairy. The crystal ball is
located in 7-4.

STAGE 7 BOSS

Boss: King Fossil
The boss is easy. It moves back and forth and shoots fireball and moves to your
level and repeats its pattern.

Note: Failure to get all 7 big diamonds get you here
Narrator: Congratulations. Bubby has finally located the mound of treasure.
Bubby: I made it! But I don't feel this is quite right.
Narrator: He's right. This is not the proper way of ending this story. Collect
all seven big diamonds...and something nice will happen. A secret command

Narrator: Ha, here is Bobby.
Bobby: It's been a long way. Here is something for you.
You get the huge violet diamond.
Bobby: Now, I have acquired seven big diamonds. I'll go to the beach.
Narrator: They went to the beach on the island.
Bubby: What's that?
Narrator: Oh my. The island has been lifted from the bottom of the sea.
Bubby: It should be the island where the evil monster lives.
Bobby: Bubby, Lets go there.

STAGE 8-1 - 8-4

Oh please. No more. Anyway, the creatures here and music are from Bubble Bobble
and I suspect that the last boss will look like Baron von Bubba. There is no
need to get the seven diamonds here.

FINAL BOSS
o---------------------o
Boss: Bubble Dragon and Baron von Bubba
Looks like I was wrong. Baron von Bubba is not the last boss. Try to stay out
of the corner and lure him to your direction and run. Use rainbows to climb over
him and drop them on him. Move in a circular pattern for best results. When he
is defeated...on second thought I was right the first time as he changes into
Baron von Bubba. He moves in sort of a bouncy ball pattern so you can catch him
when he is low and avoid him if you know the angle he will bounce off the wall.

ENDINGS

Bobby: Wow! This is a heap of treasure.
Bubby: This should be the loot that the evil monster ripped off from the
island people, but I cannot see the diamond rod anywhere.
Note: The ending cuts off after this. The following text below is the rest of
the ending. Why it was cut out is beyond me.
Bobby: Hey! Look up, Bubby.
Rod: Are you the one who collected the seven diamonds? They shine so bright
that I was awakened after a thousand year sleep.
Bobby: The rod is talking.
Rod: Yeah, because I wished so with the magic. Now, in return for my revival,
I will make your wishes come true.
Bobby: Gee! That's Great! Then I would have radio controlled cars, TV games,
and ... lots of sweet cakes.
Rod: No, no. You only have one wish.
Bubby: Hmm, what shall I choose.'
Press the select button for your choice
(Fame)
Rod: You want to be famous, don't you. I'll use magic, abracadabra!
Anchor: Now, the news. A new president has been elected. His name is Bubby!
He was someone unknown before.
Narrator: Thank goodness! But is everything O.K.?
(Cute Girlfriend)
Rod: You want a beautiful girlfriend, don't you. I'll use magic, abracadabra!
Anchor: Now, the news. Cutey Cutey, the famous singer, has announced her
engagement. Her fiance is Bubby!
Narrator: Congratulations! But is everything O.K.?
(Friendship - True ending)
Bubby: I promised Sally that I will help her grandfather.
Rod: O.K. I will help those people. They must be in the next dungeon.
Narrator: By the power of the diamond rod Bobby was holding up, the villagers
have all been returned to humans.
Rod: Your wish has been granted. Now, you just have to run quickly; this island
is sinking because my magic power is gone.
Bubby: Thank you diamond rod.

Bubby: Everybody keep together and keep swimming to the shore
Bobby: Look! the island...
Grampa: Bubby and Bobby, you saved all of us on this island. Thank you so much.
Bobby: No, I didn't do anything special
Bubby: Old man, are you by any chance Sally's...
sally: Grandpa, you have been saved.
Grampa: Oh sally. You hace been saved too. I missed you.
Sally: Grandpa.
Bubby: What a nice scene! I have a lump in my throat.
Yokels: Come on everybody. Let's toss them.
Bobby: Oh my
Bubby: Goodness
Yokels: Hurray! You made it.
Narrator: This is how peace came back again to the rainbow islands. Thank you
Bobby, Bubby and You. Cheerful cries of the people were echoing in the sunset.
What? You want to know how Bobby and Bubby are doing now? Sure thing; they are
dreaming about their next adventure. We still don't know when it will be. But,
you see, they are courageous little boys looking forward to some action.
