Pachiokun 4 is the fourth game in the pachinko-themed series for the Famicom.
If you have played the other Pachiokun games, or any pachinko game for that
matter, you know exactly what goes on here. You basically play pachinko, with
the objective being to close down the parlors by clearing (winning all of the
metal balls from) the machines in each parlor, then proceeding to the next
map to repeat. If you like pachinko or played the other Pachiokun games, go
ahead and try this one as well. It can be addictive, so beware!

General Information
===================
When you start the game, you can pick one of three slots to save your game
(no passwords this time). You will then see that the game is broken down into
four acts (more on that below). It's basically more of the same pattern: go
to parlors, clear the designated number of machines to clear the parlors, and
go talk to King Pachinko and proceed to the next act.
When you go to a machine initially, you will have 100 balls (even if your
total tally is more than that). If you run out of balls at the machine, you
will walk away (or get a game over screen if that was all you had left). In
the northern area of the parlor, you will find a woman behind a counter. Talk
to her and she will let you leave the shop. Once you clear enough machines,
you will automatically leave the cleared parlor by talking to her.

Game Acts
=========
As was stated above, the game is divided into four acts (three you play in,
with Act 4 being the ending). This section will explain what you need to do
in each act (besides playing pachinko, which is a clear given).
Act 1
-----
After leaving King Pachinko's building, there are three other places you can
visit. The northeast building is a practice room of sorts. In the others, you
must clear a certain amount of machines in order to clear that parlor. After
you clear four machines, a green creature will appear if you go to the other
parlor. This is not a big deal though; the room is in black and white, and
that creature is captured once you clear a single machine at that location.
This is a common theme in each act, but luckily it is not something to be too
worried about.
Northwest Parlor: 4 Machines
Southern Parlor: 6 Machines
Total: 10 Machines
Once you clear them, go to King Pachinko and he will send you off to Act 2.
Act 2
-----
When you arrive on the second map, you will find there are more parlors to
visit. The practice house is in the northwest area this time around. After
you beat six machines, the same green creature from before will appear in a
different parlor. Simply clear a machine at that parlor to capture it again.
It will appear a second time once you clear 15 machines in this act, so be
prepared!
Northeast Parlor: 6 Machines
Southwest Parlor: 5 Machines
Southeast Parlor: 7 Machines
Center Parlor: 7 Machines
Total: 25 Machines
Once you clear the parlors, go back to King Pachinko's place and you can go
on to Act 3!
Act 3
-----
Obviously in this act, there will be more parlors than before and more
machines to beat as well. Upon clearing the first eight machines, and again
after clearing 21, 37, 55, 70, and 86 machines, that green creature will make
its return, so be prepared! The new point of interest in this act is the
western building. It is actually a transport of sorts, which will take you to
a different area (there are three areas total in this act). To go to the next
one, you just visit the transport building.

Total: 86 Machines
Once you clear the parlors, you can go to the castle in the northeast area of
the first map, and meet King Pachinko for a final battle (playing pachinko of
course). Win and the game is over, along with Act 4; congratulations!

How to Play Pachinko
====================
Pachinko is basically a vertical pinball machine which players use tiny metal
balls to play. It is also a heavily popular form of gambling in Japan, which
explains why there are so many of these games on this and other systems!
Anyway, the game board has a layout with nails sticking out, which the metal
balls bounce off of or fall in between, in order to traverse the board. Also
on the board are certain compartments where if a metal ball falls into it,
you will receive points. If a ball makes it to the bottom of the board
without landing in anything, you lose that ball (and a point). Initially, you
start off with 100 balls (points).
In this game, on the bottom-right area is a ring-shaped button with a smaller
circle inside of it. This is the pressure control for launching the pachinko
balls into the game board above. Use the Left/Right buttons to turn the knob,
increasing or decreasing the pressure, allowing the metal balls to go
shorter/farther with each shot.
It is a good idea to continually fire balls while adjusting the pressure so
you can have the best idea of what settings you like the most. Personally, I
find that the best approach is to subtly move the pressure knob in the
bottom-right corner until you start winning, then move it back and forth a
couple of notches in that same area to keep the streak going. If you lose the
streak, just keep moving the knob around until you hit it again.

Automatically Win at a Machine
==============================
At the first screen, hold A on both controllers and the introduction will be
played. Let go of the buttons and press B on both controllers. While holding
them, press Start on Controller 1. Now, go to any pachinko machine. When you
get to the screen where you can say yes/no to playing, hold Select + Start
and press A for Yes. When you release the buttons, you will have
automatically cleared that machine without even playing it!
