Welcome to 'Murder Club' for the NES, released by Seta Corporation in 1989.
This game is the same as the very first J.B. Harold mystery game that was
released in 1986 on platforms such as the MSX.

The J.B. Harold series spawned several sequels over the years, and lots and
lots of remakes for other systems. The series currently stands as
2. Manhattan Requiem (1987)
3. Kiss of Murder (1988)
4. D.C. Connection (1989)
5. Blue Chicago Blues (1995)

Most of these games were only released in Japan, but some platforms had
English translations such as Murder Club for DOS and TurboGrafx-CD, Manhattan
Requiem for the iOS and Blue Chicago Blues for the Laseractive.

Thus this game is only available in Japan and is very difficult to play if
you lack any understanding, not to mention the lack of enjoyment if you cannot
read the story. It is unlikely a fan translation will be made available.

Note: What does "talk about everything" really mean? First time you talk to a
new person ask about their personal details. It is actually important. Next up
talk about other people. That list is incomplete when you first talk to them
because you still have to meet more people throughout the game. The list is
full soon enough though. Lastly talk about other stuff, which include the
person's alibi and related topics not about a specific person. These are the
most important ones as they usually change but talking about a person again is
usually the same response. Thus on second visits you do not need to talk about
personal data again.

Note2: This is a sort of apology that this walkthrough is structured rather
scrappy. The start is all right but towards the end it becomes more vague and
you are more or less on your own to continue talking to persons and interrogate
suspects until you beat it. That is unfortunately the nature of this game...

Next you want an arrest warrant for Edward. You first need to show your current
suspects the photo you just picked up and it SHOULD be able to unlock. If he is
still not arrested talk to everyone who is still around, especially the guy at
the Liberty bank. Anyway, you need to try the following and hopefully it works
now:

If you do not get the arrest warrant for these two you need to do more
interrogating or a sweet of the people in other houses. You may also only get
Edward's warrant and interrogate him, then try for Janet later.

Now Interrogate everyone again from the top, making sure that after you go
through all evidence and questions the affidavit stops changing (which means
you are good for now). If it changed, go through it again, it might change
again with the new attitude he has. I know this sounds stupid but unfortunately
that is now the game has its little moments to trigger something new happening.
Also make sure you have read all the stuff in the reference library. Some
topics only pop up if the first ones are read.

At this point I was missing 1 piece of evidence (the bone) from the Graveyard.
To unlock finding it, however, you have to trigger it first and since that is
not so straightforward we need to make another couple interrogations of
everyone. I know it is tedious but the smallest new clue makes the suspects act

Interrogation Room

Now it is time to interrogate everyone through and through. Make one round of
interrogations and then continue. Some suspects are actually eliminated but it
is hard to tell you in this game. After enough trial and error you will
eventually get a confession from one of the suspects after you hear the
statement, which I will not tell you here.

If you finally get the murderer - well done!
