===================================DISCLAIMER==================================
I have decided not to allow websites other than Gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com),
IGN (faqs.ign.com) & Gamespot (www.gamespot.com) to host my FAQs from now on.
Please don't ask, because I will not grant permission. It's just that too many
sites don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of
hassle in my mailbox.
So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than those mentioned above, please
let me know and I will take care of the situation, thanks.
Just to make things crystal clear for some people, this FAQ is not to appear

(B) INTRODUCTION
###############################################################################
Mitsume Gatooru is a pretty short adventure game that has you controlling a
short bald man with an eye in his forehead that can fire shots of energy. You
can also buy other types of shots from shops when you have enough money and
switch to them as you need them.
I enjoyed this game a lot, especially the final battle which was a lot of fun.
Although there is some text between the stages it's basically just bragging
about the last boss that you defeated and not really key to understanding. So
this game is perfectly accessible to people like me that don't know any
Japanese.
However if you really want to know what's being said I highly recommend Toma's
translation patch for the game. It's available at The Whirlpool here:
http://donut.parodius.com/?func=trans&platform=nes&gamekey=165
###############################################################################
(C) CONTROLS
###############################################################################
The controls for this game are very simple, and are as follows:
Dpad - Move your character, angle shots [once you've bought them].
A - Jump.
B - Fire shots, hold to get the spear and release to throw it.
Start - Pauses the game, also brings up the menu where you can pick a new shot
if you've bought any new ones.
###############################################################################
(D) ITEMS
###############################################################################
There's only one type of item that you can get from enemies and that item is
coins. The coins are worth varying amounts though, the small ones are worth
20-50, the medium ones are worth 100 and the large ones are worth 200-500.
The coins can be used at any shops that you find to purchase any of the
following items.
100 Coins - First Aid Kit
- Refills your health when purchased.
200 Coins - Super Cake
- Although you have an unlimited supply of these on easy mode, they protect
you if you fall into a pit. Instead of losing a life you get lifted out to
safety and lose a bit of health.
1000 Coins - Psycho Wave
- This shot can be controlled by holding up or down as you fire, and is VERY
helpful for getting rid of certain enemies and bosses.
1000 Coins - Super-Sonic
- This shot is VERY fast and rises and falls as you fire it rapidly.
Unfortunately you can't control where the shots go so it's more annoying
than useful.
1000 Coins - Hyper Aura
- This shot is very much like your basic shot except it's now taller and made
up of three beams.
1000 Coins - Super Condor
- This makes your spear even stronger.
5000 Coins - 1UP
- Gain an extra life.
Unfortunately, if you lose a life you will lose any of the items that you had
at the time and revert back to your basic shots.
###############################################################################
(E) WALKTHROUGH
###############################################################################
Bricklayer J. Gastronomy
You will find the walkthrough for the entire game in the sections below.
###############################################################################
(E-01) STAGE 01
###############################################################################
Head right and shoot a few trolls as you collect their coins, then try out your
spear if you want by holding 'B'. Watch as the spear spins onto the screen and
into your hands, then release 'B' to throw it. While the spear doesn't travel
all that far or fast it is VERY strong, plus you can jump on it and hold 'A' to
bounce to higher ledges.
Jump onto the pile of boxes to your right and watch as you start moving right,
then shoot the series of jumping dogs until the truck stops. Head right to
find a spider, then shoot it to watch it slowly grow larger. Every time the
spider is shot it grows in size and goes higher up it's line before slowly
falling again. The spider also shoots a steady stream of shots below it as it
falls, so the higher up it is the farther the stream will reach and the more
dangerous it becomes.
Continue right as you kill a few more spiders, then head right to the next
area.
The person on your left is actually a shop, so jump over to her and buy the
Hyper Aura shots if you have enough coins. Head right and shoot the dogs and
shells as you avoid their fire columns, then use your spear to bounce up to the
left ledge. Jump left and shoot the corner to find a large chicken, then grab
all the coins that he leaves behind.
Head right and kill a pair of totems, just make sure that you only shoot them
when they're not facing you since they only attack when you do. Jump the pair
of gaps and kill a totem, then use your spear to bounce over the wall. Wait
for the totem to face away from you before killing it, then head right and kill
another pair of totems before continuing right to the next area.
Jump the gap to your right and kill a totem, then carefully jump past the
falling water. Head right across some more gaps while avoiding water and
killing totems, then enter the shop and buy another shot or the super condor
spear upgrade. Jump the next few gaps and kill another totem, then go right to
reach the stage boss.
----
Boss
----
This guy jumps high in the air and occasionally crouches before firing a
missile at you. Unfortunately all of your shots bounce off the boss so you
can't hurt him initially. The status above shoot shots down at the two of you
ever so often. If the boss gets hit by the statue's shots then, he is stunned
for a brief moment. You can damage the boss at this point, so let loose a
flurry of shots, then try to lure him into the statue's shots once more.
The hardest part of the battle is figuring out how to damage the boss, after
that it's pretty simple.
###############################################################################
(E-02) STAGE 02
###############################################################################
Head right and shoot the boomerang enemy once he throws his boomerang,
otherwise your shots will bounce off him. Continue right past more boomerang
enemies and some rising pillars, then shoot some bats along the way and head
right to the next area.
Head right and shoot a boomerang enemy, then jump a series of moving platforms
and kill the jumpers along the way. Continue right across more moving
platforms as you kill a bunch of enemies and reach the next area.
Head right across the broken bridge as you avoid the shots of the statue above,
then shoot the statue if you want a large coin. Throw your spear to the right
and bounce off it to the ledge above, then shoot the nearby statue for another
large coin. Head right and purchase the rest of the shot and spear powerups
from the shop as well as anything else you want, then jump right over the
spikes. Carefully head right past the geysers so you don't hit the spikes,
then shoot the skeletons and ghosts [you can kill the respawning ghosts if you
want to stock up on coins] before going right to the next area.
Kill a trio of bats and some jumpers until you reach a wall, then jump and kill
the boomerang enemy on your right. Jump right from the moving platform to the
ledge, then turn left and jump from the same moving platform to the ledge
beyond. Kill the nearby boomerang enemy and carefully jump the gap to your
left [use the spear if you want], then jump from the moving platform to the
ledge beyond before killing a pair of boomerang enemies.
Jump left across the moving platform to reach a ledge, then jump right across
another moving platform to reach a higher ledge. Go right across another
moving platform and kill a trio of bats, then carefully continue right as you
kill some more bats. Head right until you see some falling pink rocks, then
follow one of them as you weave down along the path and head right to the boss.
----
Boss
----
This tentacle boss is vulnerable to damage in the large red spot on his body,
but his tentacle tends to deflect your shots or knock you out of their way most
of the time. However you can make the battle a whole lot easier if you don't
forget about your spear.
If you throw your spear at the left edge of the screen and bounce up and down
on it there you can easily fire at the boss's weak point without being hit by
the tentacle. You just need to watch out for the occasional shot from the
tentacle, but other than that it's an easy battle.
###############################################################################
(E-03) STAGE 03
###############################################################################
Notice the purple face ahead of you, it sits and spins in one place unless you
knock it back with your shots. After being hit it returns to its original
spot, but you can use your spear to knock it farther.
Jump the face and kill a couple of crabs, then use your spear on the lower face
of the two ahead of you. Quickly run under the one face and jump the second,
then kill a few more crabs until you reach some more faces. Use your spear on
the bottom face of each tower, then run under and jump over that face to reach
the next area.
Shoot the shells as you jump up the steps, then use your spear at the top to
bounce to a ledge on your left. Shoot the left end of this ledge to find a
coin chicken, then kill the shell to your right and enter the shop beyond. Buy
any shots that you don't have yet and anything else that you need, then hold
down to ride the elevator down before heading right to the next area.
Slowly go down the shaft as you use your spear on the boomerang enemies, then
head right to the next area at the bottom.
Shoot the faces as you work your way down this shaft, then go right at the
bottom to reach the next area.
Kill the dogs, shells and totems as you jump a few gaps, then watch out for the
vacuums before you reach the next area.
Head right until the ceiling comes crashing down, then avoid the falling spikes
and quickly jump the pair of gaps. Avoid some more spikes and watch out for
the vacuum before jumping two more gaps, then dodge more of the same and wait
here a moment. Throw your spear right and use it to clear the spikes, then use
the same strategy to clear the next gap and reach the next area.
Carefully head down past the vacuums and faces [shoot the faces to stop them
moving briefly], then ride a nearby moving platform up past some more faces.
Carefully walk between the trio of faces at the top, then hug the right wall as
you fall down the next shaft. Head right past a group of faces and buy
whatever you need from the shop, then continue right to the boss.
----
Boss
----
Equip the Psycho Wave shots and make a note of the bottom face on the totem.
This is where the boss is vulnerable to damage, but only when his eyes are
glowing. For now you should fire shots up at the circling group of rocks to
destroy some of them. Continue this until the boss's eyes light up, then start
firing up at that face. Once the boss's eyes close again you can focus your
efforts on the rocks, but otherwise continue this pattern until the battle is
over.
###############################################################################
(E-04) STAGE 04
###############################################################################
Jump right on a small boat and ride it right, then jump to the platforms up
ahead and kill the trolls while avoiding the jumping fish. Drop back on the
boat when there are no more platforms and shoot a few fish before reaching some
more platforms, then clear them of enemies before jumping to the very top.
Continue right and drop on the boat once more, then shoot some more fish and
jump to another series of platforms. Kill a pair of trolls and drop back on
the boat, ride to the next ledge and go right to reach the next area.
Head right past a number of trolls and skeletons and watch the pipes above for
sections that are missing white bands. These sections fall down when you get
close most of the time. Jump across some boxes as you kill some crabs, then
use your spear to bounce left onto the ledge with a single box on it. Shoot
the box to find a coin chicken, then head right to the next area.
Shoot the trolls and quickly jump across the rising platform so you don't hit
the spikes above. Bounce off your spear to clear the next gap and continue
right to reach the next area.
Shoot the bugs as you head right and jump up a staircase of boxes, then use
your spear to head left across a pair of gaps. Shoot left to find a coin
chicken, then return to the box staircase and bounce right off your spear to
reach the ledge above. Head right and buy whatever you need from the shop,
then go left and drop right past the box staircase. Continue right past fish
and trolls to reach the boss.
----
Boss
----
When you first start this battle a swarm of bugs gathers at the right side and
becomes a large ghost. The boss can only be harmed when he takes on the ghost
form, so don't waste your time attacking the swarm.
The boss fires three shots as the ghost before becoming the swarm once more and
these shots speed up as they fly towards you. Jump the shots as best you can
while raining shots of your own at the boss, then when he becomes the swarm I
find it works best to run right at him [or do a low jump]. This is because the
swarm splits into two parts and while one flies high, the other flies low and
you run between them both.
Otherwise simply attack the boss whenever he's in the ghost form and you should
be moving on to the next stage in no time.
###############################################################################
(E-05) STAGE 05
###############################################################################
-------
Part 01
-------
Shoot some bats and falling statues as you head right to the next area.
This area is very small but you'll be returning here again, so walk right to be
teleported to the next area.
Kill the crabs and skeletons as you head right to the next area.
Walk right onto the blocks as you get locked inside, then dodge the rising
blocks as they try to push you into the spikes above. Once there's a path at
the bottom you can head right to the next area.
Simply walk right past this very short area to reach the next one.
Here's another rising block room for you to deal with, but this time you can
take two paths that lead right to the next area. Both paths lead to the boss,
but the top path has a shop along the way so I highly recommend taking that
one.
Buy whatever you need from the shop and continue right to the next area.
Work your way down past the rising blocks and go right to reach the first boss
of this stage [there are five].
----
Boss
----
The red mechanical boss is just to your right so walk over there to start the
fight. Although you have 3 more bosses to fight in this stage after this boss,
the next two are EXACT copies of this boss [just a different colour really].
You should notice a flashing pulsating spot midway up on the boss, this spot is
the boss's weak point. You can use Psycho Wave shots and angle them up at this
point from the ground, but I find it works much better to jump and shoot at the
spot with any type of shots.
Shortly after the battle begins a vertical field closes in on you from the
right, but it moves pretty slowly so you can fire a burst of shots to
deactivate it for a brief moment. Basically you need to switch your efforts
between this field and the boss's weak spot during the battle. Just keep in
mind where the field is when you deactivate it. If it's on the left side of
your space, then you should probably get on the left side of it so you have
more room and vice-versa.
After all is said and done though this is a pretty simple battle, and you'll be
using the EXACT same strategies for the next two bosses so you'll get plenty of
practice.
After the battle you should go right through the teleporter.
-------
Part 02
-------
You should recognize this as the small room where you first teleported earlier,
and you should go right and take the next teleporter.
Head right past a few faces and shoot any ghosts in your way, then use your
spear to get past the face tower. Do the same thing for a group of faces up
ahead while watching out for the vacuum, then use your spear to get over the
spikes and reach a shaft.
Ride the platform up and shoot the faces [jump and shoot if needed] to keep
them away from you as you fight the pull of the vacuums, then go right to the
next area when you reach the top of the shaft.
Go right a little to lure out a totem, then kill him when he turns away and
head right to the next area.
This area has two paths that both lead right, but I highly recommend taking the
upper path because it has a shop along the way.
Shoot the boomerang enemy above you and use your spear to bounce up to his
ledge, then jump to the nearby moving platform and left to a ledge from there.
Use your spear to bounce right to a higher moving platform, then go right to
the next area.
Buy whatever you need from the shop and continue right to the next area.
Carefully shoot all the spiders and jumpers as you cross the gaps, then go
right to reach the next boss.
This boss is identical to the red mechanical boss that you fought earlier
except that he's green and his field also moves a little faster. Head through
the teleporter on your right after the battle.
-------
Part 03
-------
Back in the small teleporter room you should take the final teleporter to your
right.
Shoot the snakes and turn around, then shoot the left wall to find a coin
chicken. Kill more snakes and some statues to your right, then bounce off your
spear to clear the wall. Kill some more snakes as you cross two broken
bridges, then continue right to reach the next area.
Shoot the trolls as you quickly jump across the rising platforms, then kill a
totem [you can jump and shoot on the rising platform if you think you can
handle it]. Jump a few more platforms and kill another totem before heading
right to the next area.
This shaft has two paths that lead right, the one at the bottom is easier to
reach but the top one has a shop along the way. Take whichever one you're more
comfortable with to reach the next area.
Kill the statues [if you took the top path in the last area] and head right to
the next area.
Buy whatever you need from the shop and head right to reach the next area.
This is where you'd end up if you had taken the lower route earlier, but either
way run across the broken bridge to the wall. Quickly throw your spear and
bounce to the ledge above before you drop to the spikes, then go right to reach
the next boss.
This boss is identical to the last two bosses [or at least beaten by using the
same strategies], except his field is a little bit faster and he's cyan in
colour.
Enter the teleporter after the battle and watch as you ride an elevator up to
a stormy rooftop and see a large tank roll away.
-------
Part 04
-------
Go right to the next screen to start a battle with the large tank that you saw
earlier.
This boss is interesting because he only uses one attack if you don't attack
him. This attack is a wavy spray from the gun in the tank's mouth and doesn't
have great range. That gun is the tank's weak spot and where you need to
direct your shots BUT if you just fire like crazy you probably won't survive
the battle.
For very shot that you land on the boss's weak spot it will launch a blue
fireball into the air. That fireball will land on you [unless you move out of
the way] and create a pillar of flame for a moment. So if you start shooting
like crazy you're going to have a lot of these pillars to dodge in addition to
the spray.
I recommend shooting in 2-3 shot bursts and waiting for the pillars to die down
before firing again. This makes the battle slightly longer but MUCH easier, so
the choice is yours.
Once you do enough damage the tank starts to explode, but it's not over yet as
there's one final battle.
-------
Part 05
-------
[Personally I loved this final battle, because it was pretty challenging to
figure out and very cool to play through.]
An armoured human jump kicks you once the tank is destroyed to start this final
battle. That jump kick is one of his main attacks and you can either run under
it if you're close to him, or jump over it as he slides under you.
Either way it works well to get a hit or two once he's slid past you before he
does his next move. The boss's other main attack is to fire a tall fast-moving
beam at you, but the beam can be destroyed. Simply fire a few shots at the
beam to slow it down and destroy it, but keep your distance when you do this so
you have enough time to get enough hits in.
Simply repeat your pattern of jumping the boss's jump kicks and shooting down
his beams while you get your hits in after his kicks.
Eventually the battle will enter a second phase when you've dealt enough damage
to the boss. At this point the boss gets struck by lightning, which causes him
to glow a bright blue and become invulnerable to all of your attacks.
Since you can't damage the boss yet you should get in close and run under his
jump kicks. Once you've dodged three of them the boss will release the
lightning in a spray of electricity and become vulnerable to damage once more.
Quickly jump over the blast of electricity and get as many hits in as you can
before the boss gets hit by lightning once again.
Pretty much whenever the boss's protection wears off you should use the same
strategies from the first phase of the battle. If you keep this up the boss
will be dead in no time, and you can watch the ending!

(G) EXPERIMENTAL
###############################################################################
For a little while now I've had a paypal link in all my FAQs at the very bottom
here. Mainly as a small experiment since a few other FAQ authors have also had
the same idea.
I had a few people email me before I put this link in because they wanted to
send money, so it's here for those people.
For the record I've received about $87 (which works out to a bit more in
Canadian lol) last I checked, so I've been getting cases of pop and making some
excellent progress on a few FAQs.
If you don't want to send money or can't then send me an email, it's nice to
hear what people thought about my work and there's always room for improvement.
My email address and paypal address for those that want to contribute are both

Many thanks, and I hope you continue to use my work!
