If you cite info from this, at least give me credit.
People often put email contacts in their FAQs, but over the years email
accounts disappear, so I'm not going to bother.
But I also go by WashYourFace on NintendoAge, so that's probably the best way

II. Controls, modes & options
I will say right up front that the most annoying thing about this game is that
you can't pause. The only time you can safely walk away from the game is in
the maze mode when nothing else is going on, or in the briefings before each
stage, or when you're at a resupply base, or if you've lost all your lives and
are starting a new continue.
Generally speaking, there are 3 styles/modes of gameplay used throughout the
game. For some of them, the Zapper light gun or the LaserScope can be used,
although they are not required.
I highly recommend using the Zapper. I think the controller is harder to use
for those sections, and I've never used the LaserScope, but it's up to you.
PROTIP: Use the Zapper to aim, and the 'B' button on the controller (with your
other hand) to shoot. You can fire faster and it seems more accurate because
there's no delay from pulling the trigger.
Before you start the game, go into the OPTION menu.
"Sound" turns sound on/off
(I recommend leaving it on for warnings like when your fuel is low).
"Mode" sets the controls for your helicopter
Normal where up=up and down=down, or Reverse where up=down and down=up.
Even if you're accustomed to "reverse" style controls, I recommend using
normal because it makes the last level easier.
"Input" sets the controls for shooting - again, I recommend using the "Zapper".
"Players" is actually the number of your lives per continue
Choosing 5 just makes sense unless you just want a challenge.
You can also do "Laser Scope Practice" if you are using a LaserScope.
Following is a general description of each style/mode of play you will
encounter. The actual walkthrough starts in section III.
1. Helicopter Mode
You are flying in a helicopter.
Sometimes you will be in the sky, where your only enemies will be other flying
vehicles. Other times, you will be hovering above the ground, where enemies
will also include tanks.
Bullets (look like red balls) will do damage to your copter. Unless you take a
lot of hits, it's rare that these kill you.
Missiles will kill you in 1 shot. You can shoot missiles, but it's usually
better to just dodge them.
On the ground, there can be trees which will kill you if you hit them.
In the sky, there are floating things that look like satellites, which will
also kill you if you hit them, like the trees.
In the later stages, there can be other obstacles, which I will talk about
when we get there.
I recommend not trying to fight anything in this mode unless you have to.
It's easier to just fly around and dodge everything than possibly die fighting
or wasting your missiles and fuel.
If you die, the good news is that all your ammo & fuel are restored.
'B' shoots your gun.
You can hold down 'B' to fire continuously - so why wouldn't you?
Double-tap 'B' quickly to fire a missile or use your equipment, depending on
which you have selected. You can switch between missiles and special equipment
with SELECT; the one that is selected is in WHITE (not the one in PURPLE)!
You continuously fly as fast as possible, but 'A' puts the "brakes" on.
Never seen that in a flying game, but whatever.
You will need to use 'A' in the right circumstances to dock/land and fight in
some places I will mention below.
1a.
Landing at a base:
In your long-range radar, the circles 'O' are enemy bases & the cross '+' is a
friendly refuel/resupply base.
You are the white helicopter figure on the radar.
As you approach a base, a warning message will come on the screen.
You will want to immediately hit the brakes (hold down 'A' button) and fly in
the down direction.
If you stop too soon, gently release & apply the brake to approach the base.
If it is an enemy base, you will get a crosshairs and a landing pad.
You must keep the crosshairs in the center portion of the landing pad the
entire time, otherwise you will fail to land and you will have to circle
around and try again.
2. Shooting Mode
Pretty straight-forward.
You will only use the Zapper (or controller or LaserScope) on this mode.
PROTIP:
Use the Zapper to aim, and the 'B' button on the controller (with your other
hand) to shoot. You can fire faster and it seems more accurate because there's
no delay from pulling the trigger.
Shoot everything that moves, and everything that might shoot you.
This includes enemy soldiers, gun towers, (immobile) tanks and helicopters.
Red barrels blow up and kill everything on the screen.
Boxes contain hearts (fully refill your health) or bullets (fully refill your
ammo). Try to shoot the barrels/hearts/bullets at the right strategic time to
maximize effect (for example don't shoot the barrel as soon as you see it, if
no enemies are around).
If you survive, you will eventually get to a door and be taken to the next
sub-stage. In the walkthrough, I won't describe these sections in any detail,
I will just say 'Shooting Mode' since they are all basically the same.
3. Maze Mode
You are in a 3d maze, in 1st person.
Occasionally you'll trigger an "Enemy" tile which is similar the Shooting Mode.
Whether you trigger the "Enemy" also depends on the direction you're facing.
Be ready to drop the controller and grab your Zapper quickly.
Guns from the ceiling and guys will pop out at you.
Shoot them before they hit you.
Eventually if you survive, you will be able to move on and that "Enemy" tile
won't appear again (no respawning, yay!).
You will also find boxes in the maze containing - rations (fully refill your
health) or bullets (fully refill your ammo), and special items.
You will also sometimes find a fellow agent named "Spider" who will give you
necessary info.
Some of these mazes are very straight-forward, but for others it helps to have
a map (the game auto-draws a map for you as you go, but doesn't mark anything
except walls/doors).
Check gamefaqs if you want to see some of the drawn maps.

III. Walkthrough, Stage 1
(Did you remember to configure the Controls in the Options menu before
starting? And give yourself 5 lives? See section II)
You start out in Helicopter Mode.
First you choose a set of missiles, then you will choose 1 extra item.
Generally, I choose 20 medium-power missiles - missiles aren't even required
here, but they make the boss a little easier.
For the second item, I recommend extra fuel -if you ran low on fuel, you would
have to stop at the resupply base.
Fly to the enemy base in the top left of your long-range radar.
Like I said before, I recommend just avoiding all enemies and not wasting
time/fuel/missiles fighting them.
When they appear on your screen, just fly to the left or right around them.
And hold 'B' down all the time to autofire.
As you approach the base, you will encounter a "Boss" which is their attack
copter.
Stay to the left or right to avoid its missiles.
It fires in a pattern - two sets of missiles, then four - alternating back
and forth.
When it stops firing, shoot out the missile batteries on its left or right.
You can use missiles or your gun to do this, but missiles are faster.
Then shoot out the main gun (bottom center) and his helicopter blades (in the
top center) to destroy him.
Remember on all these "boss" battles, a red arrow will show up when you are
targeting something you need to shoot.
After the boss, remember to land correctly or you'll have to try again.
When you land at the enemy base, you enter Shooting Mode.
Survive that, and you will be in Maze Mode.
Check the Mission 1, Level 3 map by ReyVGM on gamefaqs.
You will need to find the Gas Mask first, to get past the poisonous gas.
Then get the Key in the top left of the map.
Then head towards the exit.
You will encounter Spider and have a conversation.
Get to the exit before time runs out.
**********************
IV. Walkthrough, Stage 2
I recommend choosing 40 missiles and Chaff for this stage.
You might need to stop at the refueling base if you don't get extra fuel,
but the chaff will be useful later.
Helicopter Mode.
Fly to the base at the bottom left.
Shooting Mode.
Maze Mode.
There is an enemy after the first door.
There is only one way to go, so get the key card #1, and leave the way you
came in. The good news is when you exit, your fuel is refilled.
Helicopter Mode.
Fly to the base at the far right.
Shooting Mode.
Maze Mode.
Again, there is an enemy after the first door.
Again, there is only one way to go, so get the key card #2, and leave the
way you came in.
Helicopter Mode.
Fly to the base at the top of the map.
Shooting Mode.
Maze Mode.
Check my map on gamefaqs.
You will go forward through a door.
Spider will be on the right - he will tell you 2 key cards are needed, which
you should already have by now.
Continue on and there will be only one way to go - into a gas room.
You are captured and placed in the top left of the map.
You have lost all your equipment, including your gun & bullets.
You will encounter Spider and he will tell you to open the secret door behind
him (use 'A' just like any other door).
Locate your gun, some bullets, gas mask, Card #2, the "Info on the New
Material", and Card #1 in that order.
It is possible to get your gun & bullets without encountering any enemies.
But if you do encounter enemies while unarmed, remember you can run away by
pushing down and hitting 'A' repeatedly.
Exit to your helicopter the way you came in - get ready for the hardest part
of the game (unless you have chaff).
Helicopter Mode.
You will be flying through a canyon.
This is MUCH easier with chaff, as this makes you immune to missiles for a
short time.
You can use chaff 10 times (and if you die you get 10 more) which should make
this a snap.
You will likely die from running out of fuel once, but it's better than dying
repeatedly from missiles.
Missile batteries on the ground will shoot missiles at you.
I shoot their missiles as they fire them.
At full speed, they can fire 2 missiles before you fly past them.
After 3 missile batteries, you will get a DANGER warning and encounter a
barrier, which shoots missiles at you.
As always, you can use either your gun or missiles to destroy the barrier.
The easiest way to deal with the barriers is brake far enough away so that you
can easily shoot the missiles before they get to you.
I hold my index finger on 'B' and my middle finger on 'A', continuously firing
and maintaining the brake at the same time.
After another barrier, the canyon will turn and you will have to move left or
right according to an arrow.
You can't push too far in the direction of the arrow, but if you don't push far
enough you will get a red blinking bar on the other side, and possibly crash.
Hitting the cliffs does damage to your copter like bullets do.
After some barriers and some missile batteries, some choppers will show up.
I just fire my missiles like mad to take out them and their missiles.
A giant helicopter will show up on your radar and eventually "lock on" to you.
(PROTIP: If you have chaff active here, this boss doesn't bother you - in fact
he doesn't even show up!!)
I honestly am not sure how to dodge this, but I just roll around like crazy,
left/down/right/up, and this seems to make him miss most of the time.
Otherwise, if he locks on for more than a couple of seconds he kills you.
Did I mention that you should be using chaff for this section?
Eventually, at the end is the boss which is a tank.
Avoid his missiles and destroy the various targets across the tank, including
the guns and turrets.
Use chaff if you have any of it left.
Remember a red arrow will show when you are on a target you are supposed to
hit.
I find it easiest to work from right to left.
As always, missiles do more damage.
If you die here, you'll have to do a couple of missile launchers back at the
canyon, but you won't have to repeat the whole thing.

V. Walkthrough, Stage 3
I recommend choosing 40 missiles and Extra Fuel for this stage.
Helicopter Mode.
Simply fly to the plane in the top right of the map.
You will encounter a new obstacle on this stage - lightning.
This is like the trees or stationary satellites, except the lightning blinks in
and out of existence.
You will just have to do your best to remember where the lightning strikes are
and avoid them.
When you get to the plane, you will fight a fairly easy boss.
Shoot out each of the plane's 4 engines. As usual, missiles are most
effective.
When you shoot out an engine, the boss flies forward and dumps a bunch of stuff
out the back.
As soon as you shoot out an engine, slam hard to whichever side you are on and
stay there until the boss comes back.
He will start shooting missiles - just stay to the side, until he switches to
shooting bullets and then attack.
Bullets don't do much damage to you and it's pretty unlikely that they would
kill you before you kill the boss.
Repeat for each engine and Stage 3 is done.
**********************
VI. Walkthrough, Stage 4
I recommend choosing 40 missiles and Chaff.
(But after you've cleared the first base, you'll need to switch to the Dragon
Fly missiles & Extra Fuel)
(You will need all 10 of the special Dragon Fly missiles and Extra Fuel to
defeat the boss)
Helicopter Mode.
There's a new type of enemy - subs, along with missiles that will come up out
of the water below at you. Treat them like any other enemy - dodge what you
can, and shoot what you can't avoid. Chaff helps too.
Fly to the base at the bottom left.
Shooting Mode.
Maze Mode.
There's only one way to go and no enemies! Sweet!
You get the "special missiles". Leave this place.
Helicopter Mode.
Fly to the base at the bottom right.
Shooting Mode.
Maze Mode.
Check my map on gamefaqs.
Spider (bottom left of map) will give you a bomb.
When you reach the center square of the map, the bomb will be placed, and a
timer will start.
You'll have to make it to the exit where you came in, but you can't go back the
same way you came.
You'll have to work your way from the top left of the map to the bottom right
and out the exit.
Helicopter Mode.
At this point, if you haven't died, you will probably need fuel, so stop at the
nearby refueling base.
Also, you MUST have 10 Dragon Fly missiles equipped; if you don't, stop at the
base and change.
You'll need all 10 of them for the missile before the final boss, so don't use
any along the way.
You will also need to switch to Extra Fuel for the final base.
Fly to the base at the top - you will automatically encounter a fortress.
(no landing sequence!)
The left gun shoots bullets and the right gun shoots missiles.
Blow up the guns on each side (remember, use your guns not the Dragon Fly
missiles) and then the door in the center, and you'll be flying through a
tunnel.
(Note if you die from this point on you'll start back at the beginning of this
tunnel)
(Note also that it is very difficult to get through this section without extra
fuel)
Missile launchers will appear on your bottom, right, and left - shoot them and
any missiles.
If you chose "normal" controls, it makes it easier to take these out - just
push up/left or up/right
or neutral to shoot the launchers in the order they appear. I find reverse
controls make this trickier to do.
You could use the brakes here to make these a bit easier but unfortunately you
would run out of fuel/time doing that (so don't).
Note the order the launchers appear in, because that's the order they will
launch missiles too.
Shoot the missiles they launch and the launchers themselves.
After the missile launchers will be 2 barriers that launch missiles.
Get ready to brake & inch forward so that the barriers stay far away.
Like in the canyon section, it's easier if you stop far away so you can shoot
the missiles down while you shoot the barrier.
After the 2 barriers is a giant room with pylons that you'll have to dodge.
The best advice I can give to get through these, is to dodge a little ways
left, then back a little ways right, then back a little ways left, and so on...
in a smooth S-shaped pattern. It takes some practice to get through them.
Then another batch of missile launchers. (after this is probably where you'll
need your extra fuel)
Then 2 more barriers.
Then more pylons.
Then another batch of missile launchers.
Here comes the final boss.
But first is their big nuclear missile - dump all your missiles on it (10 of
the special Dragon Fly) and it will be destroyed.
You must hit it with all 10 or the world ends (and you lose a life and have to
redo this section).
And now the final boss.
Watch for his little white light left of center - it charges up and shoots
instant-kill plasma at you.
Here's the pattern:
He charges up and shoots the plasma gun
(move hard down/left or down/right to avoid this)
Then he shoots missiles (again, stay to the bottom left or right)
Then one more charge and shot of the plasma gun.
(after this you should start shooting him)
Then he starts shooting bullets.
You're going to want to attack him after the second plasma shot -when he's
shooting bullets, shoot him in the center repeatedly and then move away again
when he stops shooting bullets and starts charging plasma.
3 rounds of this kills him (the bullets probably won't do enough damage to kill
you in this time even if they hit you)
Nothing to do now but watch the ending!
