-Section 1: Introduction-
Regarded as a lesser entry in the Sentai (task force)
series, Zyuranger hit a moderate amount of fame. Mainly overseas, as Mighty
Morphin Power Rangers.
Martial arts and cut-and-paste footage is what made the series as great back
then to impressionable children as
it is now to bored, unemployed adults.
Unlike the SNES games, this one is true to its roots.
You're thrown into five levels, without the choice
of which ranger you can use.
The levels, while easy, yeild difficult bosses. Balance
as an afterthought or sadistic programmers? You decide.
-Section 2: Controls-
D-Pad: move around
A: jump
B: fire ranger gun/use legendary weapon
Select: selects modes
Start: start game/pause game
-Section 3: Walkthrough-
Stage 1:
When you start, dialog will begin with Witch Bandora.
She doesn't quite like humanity, so what's a villain to
do? Destroy the world, in a typical RPG-like fashion.
Next you see dialog with White Mage Barzaa. Where's
Zordon, you ask? That will be explained in the trivia section.
Now you can start having some fun. Your first ranger
is Boi, knight of the Dyme Tribe.
See that orange coin? Pick it up. Ten of those coins
will refill your energy later in the level, which you'll
no doubt need. Blast that snake with your ranger gun
and be on your merry way.
Grab the next coin and drift left as you fall to
pick up another one. You'll take a small bit of damage,
but you can take the lift back above.
Jump on the next lift. You'll have a spider to blast
before you jump down. Destory the.. pig-nosed spider
and jump your way out of those hazards.
Take the next batch of lifts, there is nothing below
save for a snake. You'll see a door. These are in
every level, entering these doors will give you a
ranger's their legendary weapon.
Jump down the next cliff, collecting
coins on the way, your last one will
appear when you hit ground. Collecting
coins will show off a picture of your
respective rangers tribe guardian/zord
along with what looks like its vital stats.
Oh, and you regain all your energy.
Score! Unfortunately, any other coins
collected are useless.
Hop on the next platform you see, and onto
the next one which moves. The next two
disappear when you touch them, and the
last one moves right a bit before poofing.
Hop on the next incoming platform to another
door. That, of course, leads to the boss.
Puripurikun is quite an annoying boss. And
due to the bad programming of the game,
your hits might not always register.
Your only concern are the golems
he tosses around. Learn their pattern
and they shouldn't damage you much.
More dialog ensues upon his fall. And...
OMGWTFBBQ, green ranger! The choice he offers
you are to play minigames. Accept with A or
decline with B. Win, lose, or decline, you'll
get your password afterwards.
Stage 2:
As Mei, princess of the Reisha Tribe, it'll
be her task to go through this temple area.
Avoiding the spitting lava, you'll see the
first coin and an enemy. Shoot it once and
get out of its way!
See that frog-like enemy floating in the
lava? Kill it, it'll for a platform.
Hop onto that green background-ish walkway
and claim two more coins. Enter the door
to claim the power bow from Barzaa.
A little ways further, hop the next green
walkway and head towards the door to your
next boss.
Bukku Bakku isn't a tough boss. A fight
this simple will be over before you
know it. =D
Stage 3:
You are now in control of Dan, Etof Tribe knight.
Keep heading right until you can't
head right anymore. Blast some enemies, ride
some lifts, you'll get a coin.
Despite the level set-up, its very easy to
get through. You'll come across Barzaa easily
to aquire the lance.
Soon enough, you'll be working your way up.
Then back down again. When the drop comes,
hang right.
Totto Patto might prove to be an annoying
boss. Hop quickly to hit him, and by the time
you land, you should be able to react quickly
enough to ward off his bats.
Stage 4:
My personal favorite ranger, Goushi.
Knight of what once was the Sharma Tribe.
Upon riding the first lift, take caution
to an upcoming enemy and time your
shots to kill it.
A few more lifts later, follow the simple
path to Barzaa and gain your axe.
With good reflexes, make your way across
the platforms and grab the last coin for
your revitalization.
Dodge the rollers and make your way to
the next boss.
Griffozer is as much as a joke as Bukku
Bakku. Simple pattern to follow.
Stage 5:
Now for the last ranger, Geki. Prince of
the Yamato Tribe.
This stage will have a few random
platforms that whisk you up and down the
place.
Hop onto the background-walkway to claim a down.
Drop down, head left, grab another.
And grabs yet another before Barzaa hands you
the power sword.
Jump on the odd protrustion to open the gate.
The next protrustion activates a hidden lift.
Make your way easily to the last door and
your final fight.
Bandora is a wimp, just go at her head on.
You might lose a life or two in the process,
but at this point, it won't matter. Congrats,
you've finished the game.
-Section 4: Minigames-
At the end of any level, the green ranger pits you
against fun little minigames. However, you can
access them without playing through the game
as well.
On the title screen, access minigames, the
bottom option.
The first choice is Bandoora kuizu, the one
player quiz game.
Second choice is Bariaa burokku. Broken barrier,
perhaps? O_o Anyway, its the pong game between
the Daizyujinn and Dragon Caesar. Can be played
one or two player.
Lastly, there is Doki doki bakudan. A variation
of hot potato played between Goryujin and Lamia.
You must act fast though, lest the bomb explodes
on your side of the field. Can be played one or
two player.
-Section 5: Trivia-
-Zordon posed as mentor to the Power Rangers,
whereas Barzaa is mentor to the Zyurangers.
One episode deplicted Zordon's humanoid form
as Barzaa's, for the sake of consistancy.
-The yellow ranger, Boi, was obviously
a male in Zyuranger. Whereas the american
version had the late Thuy Trang, playing
the role of Trini Kwan.
-The Zords were deplicted as normal
fighting machines. In Zyuranger, they
were guardian gods to each ranger's respected
tribes. Dragon Caeser (Dragonzord) and King
Brachion (Titanus) were higher gods that
eventually turned the tide of war between
the rangers and Bandora.
-Lamia (Scorpina) and Griffozer (Goldar)
were husband and wife. Shown in the episode
Eclipsing the Megazord (Green with Evil Pt. 4),
Lamia was rather pissed of Griffozer pulling
her out of battle.
-Amusingly enough, Lamia had a child at the end
of the series, or so i've read.
-Section 6: Author's notes and copyrights-
While I do not know whom owns the rights
to the game, it is of their property.
The FAQ, obviously... mine. Don't steal it,
copy it, use it for toilet paper, etc.
-Section 7: Thanks-
-Thanks to TV-Nihon for being the masterminds
or this and numerous other Sentai series
-Thanks to Haim Saban for despite
butchering the TV series, still made it
likable for my generation.
-Thanks to ryuukoketsurui for translating the
minigame names and Burai's (green ranger's) end
of level dialog.
-Thanks to CJayC for hosting this, and other
brilliant FAQs.
