This game is the second in a series of arithmetic learning games for the
Nintendo Famicom. This particular game focuses on addition and subtraction,
but also adds multiplication to the mix. It's an old game primarily meant for
educational purposes, and as such there is little variety. There are four
modes, two for addition and subtraction combined, and two for only
multiplication. These game modes contain short mini-games where you have to
solve the displayed math problems. If you somehow don't know how to add,
subtract, or multiply, you may want to check this game out, otherwise you're
not missing anything by not trying it.

========
Overview
========

When you start the game, there is a menu screen with 4 modes you can access
(details on those modes can be found below). In the multiplication modes, you
can pick between two courses. Both courses are exactly the same, but course 2
is the slightly more complex version of the two. After you pick the course
number (コース), you then get the option to choose how many players will be
participating (in the addition and subtraction modes, you go directly to this
menu). Once you do that (1 player = ひとりでやる, 2 players = ふたりでやる),
your chosen game will begin. In all the modes, you are given 5 lives, so you
can only mess up that many times before your game ends.

Addition & Subtraction 1 (たしざん・ひきざん 1)
===============================================

Mode Description
----------------

Regardless if you picked addition or subtraction, you are situated within a
maze. What you control is a small arrow, by using the Control Pad (press
Down, Left, or Right to rotate it, and press Up to move in the direction you
face). When you start, it appears that there is no exit to the maze or
anything to even collect.

As you move around, you may randomly be confronted by a monster which will
throw you a math problem to solve (use the Control Pad to change the numbers
in your answer, and A to confirm it). If you get the right answer, you get
100 points. If you get it wrong, you don't get the points and that's it.

There is also a treasure box you must find by traversing the maze, and once
you find it, an opening leading out of the maze will appear. At that point,
simply move through the opening to progress to the next maze.

===============================================
Addition & Subtraction 2 (たしざん・ひきざん 2)
===============================================

Mode Description
----------------

In this mode, you are placed on a golf course, but you're not exactly there
to play the sport. Before each stroke, you'll see a meter moving up and down
on the left side of the screen; press A to stop it at a given position and
hit the ball. The higher the meter is, the stronger your swing will be and as
such the ball will go farther.

After one shot, you'll see one number appear (if you're doing addition, one
of the two bottom spaces will be filled; if subtraction, the top space will
be filled in). Take a second swing and the second space will be filled, and
you'll have to actually solve the problem displayed onscreen. If you answer
correctly, your ball stays in its new position and you can continue hitting
your way to the final patch of green by the hole. If you answer wrong, you go
back to where you were and have to swing again.

When you reach the final circular patch of green, you will be given one more
problem to solve. If you get it right, you'll complete that course and go to
the next one. One other thing to note is that if your ball falls into a sand
bar, it will take a stronger shot to swing out of it, which would make sense.

=============================
Multiplication 1 (かけざん 1)
=============================

Course 1
--------

This mode portrays you as a worker in front of a conveyor belt, assembling
robots. Prior to the game itself, you are asked to pick a number from 1 to 9,
which means that all the problems you receive in the game will involve
multiples of the number you picked.

Basically, you will be given a problem as a part moves down to the conveyor,
and you have to input the correct answer to properly move that part to the
assembly area. Otherwise, if you get the answer wrong, the part will fall and
your "strength" meter (the bar on top of the screen) will be partially
depleted. If the meter fully depletes, the game ends and you start over from
scratch. When you fully complete a robot, you simply move on and create
another one, which is no surprise.

Course 2
--------

The difference you find here is in the menu prior to the game itself. You
will have 9 spaces and the ability to place a number on any of them (the
numbers are 1-9, and they cannot repeat). The purpose of this is to pick one
or more numbers, and you will then receive problems based on the multiples of
those numbers you selected (not necessarily in order).

=============================
Multiplication 2 (かけざん 2)
=============================

Course 1
--------

For this game mode, you are shown a multiplication table (you should at least
be familiar with how one is set up prior to playing this game). There are 12
spaces highlighted on this board, and a mole will pop out of any of them at
random. You will then have to find the answer that belongs on that particular
space. The actual problem is written out at the top of the screen for easy
solving. If you get it right, you'll receive 50 points and move on to the
next one. If you get it wrong, you get no points and the correct answer is
filled in for you, and your "strength" meter to the right depletes partially.

When you complete the 12 problems on that board's design, you are given a new
board with a different set of problems to solve.

Course 2
--------

In this mode, you still get a multiplication table with 12 spaces highlighted
to be filled in. However, the problem is not written out in the top area.
This means you need to read the actual table and fill in the answer
accordingly. Look at where the selected space is located, and multiply the
number at the top of that column by the number at the left side of that
particular row.
