Greetings, fellow gamers!  Welcome to my Secrets FAQ and Wave 10 Guide for
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.  This is a guide that will show where all
of the hidden items and doors are located in this nearly impossible game.  At
first, this game may look easy, but looks can be deceiving.  I'm sure most of
you are aware that it is extremely difficult to finish the final levels.

With that in mind, I will also show you EVERY possible exit location in
Wave 10!  This includes how to read that complicated map you put together
throughout the game, as well as how each of the many screens of that level are
connected.

You will also find a few extra hints, like how to get around in the warp waves
and how to cross the lava in Wave 9.

Put all of this together and you should have the edge you'll need to make it
through to the end of this game.  Enjoy!

Before we begin, let me give you a quick rundown on what you will see in each
section of this guide.  The basic idea behind finding hidden items is to throw
bombs at walls that appear to be solid.  This seems simple, but the levels are
too large and your ammo is too scarce for you to just throw them around
aimlessly.  So to solve this problem, this guide will provide you with precise
directions to the places that you need to hit.

Most of the levels are split into two sections, each with different music and
scenery.  I will refer to the area with the mine carts as the "cart section"
and the other part as the "cave section."  Depending on the level, there can be
either 2 or 4 possible locations for the item (except in Wave 10--more on that
later).  Each time you play, the spot that actually has the item changes, but
it is always limited to one of these places.

Since I can't show you a map, I'm left with simply providing text walkthroughs
that will lead you to each item.  Since most of the levels are pretty complex,
the paths will take some explaining.  To save space, I will usually say just
enough to point out what is required get you to the items.  I will assume that
you are somewhat experienced in playing this game.  Once I lead you to these
hidden locations, it is assumed that you can come up with your own means of
getting to these places.  After all, there are many kids to rescue and lots of
paths to take--mine is but one of them!

###############################################################################
#                         Wave 1: Doors to Wave S2                            #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 2 (Note: on this level, both places will always work)

The "S" waves are warp levels that let you skip ahead in the game.  Make sure
you know how to reach them so you can quickly get to where you want to go.
Be careful though...by jumping ahead, you'll miss the chance to save kids,
score points for extra lives, and collect supplies that you'll need for the
harder levels.

1: You begin the game in the cave section in front of an exit door.  Get some
bombs first (save one of the kids to get a sword, then use it on a boarded
hole).  Go left and climb the ladder.  Swing across back to the right and
save the kid near the door to the cart section.  An arrow will appear that
should tell you where to throw a bomb.  Stand on the arrow and throw upwards
  to create the door.

2: The first one should have been enough, but just in case you want to see the
second, go through to the cart section.  When you enter, immediately jump up
out of your cart and save the kid nearby.  Another arrow appears here.
Again, stand on the arrow and bomb left, as it directed.

Possible Locations: 1 each

None of these doors are hidden, but it helps to know how to reach them.  You
don't get a lot of time to fool around in this warp wave, so follow these steps
quickly.  While you go, make sure you get all of the supplies from the kids.
That way, you'll get all of the map pieces from the levels you're about to
skip.  Without the map, you'll have a rough go when/if you reach Wave 10.

Door to Wave 3: Just walk to the right from the start.  Bomb the spiked floor
if you don't want to risk running past it.

Door to Wave 5: From the Wave 3 door, jump down and swing across the lava to
               the left.

Door to Wave 7: From the Wave 5 door, swing back across the lava to where you
first jumped down, then jump down between the lava pits to
reach another ledge.  Go left from here (bombing the lava
               on the road).

Door to Wave 9: Make sure you save the kid next to the Wave 7 door to get a
blue jewel.  This will add an extra 30+ timer units to the
clock, which you will definitely need.  Stand at the bottom of
the Wave 7 door's ledge to the right of the lava patches you
bombed.  Jump left and down from here (get a running start)
and you should land on a conveyor belt.  From here, you can go
left or right (left is easier, but right has an extra kid).
Jump sideways off the edge of whatever side you chose and you
should land on solid ground.  Go right, shoot the hanging mask
to make a swing hook, then swing across to the ledge with the
               door.

Possible Locations: 2

Find the hidden door here to collect 8 bombs.

Depending on the exit door you chose in Wave 1, you will start in different
places.  If you use the one in the cave section, you end up in the cart
section, and vice versa.  Since all of my directions begin from the exit door
in the cave part, I will always start by giving directions to that door from
the starting point in the cart area.

Cart to Cave: Go left, jump on the cart when it comes, and go through the
tunnel.  Then climb the ladder in the cave section.

(This may seem simple now, but it WILL get more complicated!)

1: From the exit door in the cave section, swing left, then drop down the
ladder.  From the bottom of that ladder, bomb left.

2: Go back to the cave exit door, drop down one ledge and go through the door.
Ride the cart until you're about to go through a tunnel, then jump down and
go right.  Stand next to the cart exit door and bomb left.

###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 2

Find this door to get 10 Swords.

Cart to Cave: Follow the conveyor belts to the right and then down to find some
tracks.  Jump into a cart, change lanes up, and follow the path
to the tunnel (tilt the cart when you come to a lava patch).  Go
down from the door to reach the cave exit.

1: Follow the conveyors right and down, then swing left.  Bomb the lava, then
bomb to hit the left side of the kid (if the door hasn't appeared already).

2: Go back to the cave exit door.  Go up until you come to a door.  Go through
it and then jump up onto the first conveyor you come to.  Follow the path
upwards half way to the solid spot.  Bomb to the right from here.

#                         Wave 4: Doors to Wave S5                            #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 2 (1 for each part of it)

Like most levels, Wave S5 has both cave and cart sections.  However, there is
no way to travel between the two parts.  Instead, the secret door in the cave
section leads to the S5 Cave and the one in the cart area will take you to the
S5 carts.  Both S5 waves lead to Wave 6 when you finish them.

Cart to Cave: Go left and jump up into a cart on the first tracks you see.  Go
through the tunnel, then go right, up and left.

S5 Cave Door: From the cave exit, go right and rescue a kid on the ledge below.
An arrow pointing down should appear.  Bomb down from there, just
             like it says to.

S5 Cart Door: Back at the cave exit, jump down and go through the door to the
cart area.  Jump down off of your cart onto the first conveyors
you see.  This one has two belts, one shorter than the other.
Your target is the right-hand edge of the short belt.  For best
results, stand on the short belt and let it carry you to the left
while you bomb to the right.

###############################################################################
#                               Wave 5: Guns                                  #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

This hidden door contains 12 Guns.

Starting on this level, you will be attacked by the bats.  When you hear that
annoying high-pitched squeal, drop what you're doing and fight the bat.  You
can also whip the little blue jars to freeze them.  If nothing else, always
stay on the upper portion of your ledge so you don't get pushed into someplace
bad.  If you fall, it's not always easy to get back to where you were!

Cart to Cave: Go right and down to a cart track.  Hop in a cart and immediately
change lanes up to reach a tunnel.  Once in the cave section,
jump down one ledge and take the slide down and right.

1: From the cave exit, go down and left.  Climb the ladder, go left across the
conveyor and swing.  Go up and follow the conveyors up there.  Climb the
ladder at the end, then stand in the middle of the ledge, towards the
bottom of it.  Bomb to the right and a door may appear on the right side of
the ledge over there.  Jump down from the right side of your platform to
  reach it.

2: From the first target, swing to the right and jump down from above the
boarded hole (missing the lava pit).  Move left a little bit and jump down
again.  You should now be above the slide that leads back to the exit.
Bomb the lava next to you and run right.  With this running start, jump when
you get to the end of the ledge.  You should land safely on the other side
of the gap.  Stand so the top of your head is touching the bottom of the
  kid's hole, then bomb right.

3: Jump down off this isolated ledge and go through the door you see.  Jump
down out of your cart when you see conveyors down there.  Go down and left
towards the solid spot near a tunnel.  From there, wait for someone to throw
a boulder (so the conveyors stop moving for a second), then take a step to
the right and throw a bomb to the right.

4: If that didn't work, go up and right to another solid spot.  Go right from
there and swing to another group of conveyors.  Go up the conveyor you see,
then right to a tunnel entrance.  Take a cart that comes out of there.  Go
straight and jump down when you reach a tunnel.  Go up another conveyor and
bomb the spiked floor at the top.  Stand there, take a step to the left, and
bomb left.  You should hit a spot to the left of a vertical conveyor.

Possible Locations: 4

The "S" waves always have the exact same hidden prize as the original wave, so
both versions of Wave S5 have the same stash of Guns as Wave 5 did.  Note that
there are many doors in this wave, all of which lead to the Wave 6 cave section
with no turning back. Be careful that you don't miss anything!

1: From the start, go down the slide, walk to the right edge of the platform
you land on, turn around, and bomb left.  You should hit the space directly
below the thin ledge above you.

2: Moving on, swing across to the right until you reach a ladder.  Climb it,
then bomb left from the top.

3: Swing left repeatedly to another ladder.  Bomb up to get rid of the spiked
floor, then climb.  Stand next to the kid nearby and bomb left, hitting the
left end of the ledge you're on.

4: Continue to the right, collecting kids and weapons.  When you reach the last
kid before the ladder, stand between the boarded hole and the kid's hole
  and bomb left.

#                           Wave S5 (Carts): Guns                             #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

The same rules apply in this version of Wave S5 as in the other one, except
that the exits (cart tunnels) lead to the Wave 6 cart section instead of the
cave area.

1: Jump up right away, then stand on the top part of the conveyors.  Your
target is on the right side of the conveyor that you're standing on.  Aim
for the place where the lava pit touches the conveyor.

2: Get back on a cart and jump down onto a small conveyor.  Follow it down and
right to a swing.  Before using the swing, bomb to the right.  This should
hit the spot between a boarded hole and a long conveyor on the other side.

3: Use the swing to reach the long conveyor and go down until you reach a cart
tunnel.  Turn left and stop near the first kid's hole you find.  Wait for a
boulder to stop your conveyor, then stand below that kid and bomb right.
You should hit just to the right of a boarded hole.

4: Continue to the left and bomb away the lava in your path.  Stand on the left
edge of this patch of solid ground.  Bomb to the left from here.

#                          Wave 6: Doors to Wave S7                           #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 2 (1 for each part of it)

The doors for Wave S7 behave in the exact same way is the ones for Wave S5.
The secret door in the cave area leads to a cave version of Wave S7 and the
one in the cart section takes you to a cart version.  Note that the path to the
cart section is more complicated than it's worth, especially since that part
of Wave S7 is quite difficult (see below).  If you want to take this warp, use
the cave section!

Cart to Cave: Go up and right to a track and hop into a cart.  Change lanes
down 3 times, then up once to a tunnel.  Once in the cave area,
go right as far as you can and jump down.

S7 Cave Door: From the cave exit, proceed to the left edge of your platform and
bomb down (the kid there should produce an arrow, pointing this
out).  To get around the lava, you'll have to go up, left, and
             then down to the door.

S7 Cart Door: From the cave exit, go left, up the ladder, then left to a door.
Immediately change lanes down with your cart.  Follow this track
all the way to a tunnel.  This leads to a hard-to-reach spot in
the cave section (save the lone kid here for a map piece).  Go
back through the door you appear in front of.  This puts you in
another cart ride, where you should skip the first switch-track,
then change lanes up on the next two, before jumping down onto
a small set of conveyors (do this quickly or you'll get rammed
from behind by other carts).  Now for the tough part: go down a
little so that someone appears to throw a boulder and stop the
belts.  When they do, shoot the mask to make a swing hook.  To
use this swing, you'll have to position yourself on the top rim
of the conveyor belt by pushing up against the wall where the
lava doesn't touch it (set off another boudler to make this
easier).  After swinging across, throw a bomb back to the left,
hitting the spot on the wall you just pushed against.  That's
             where the door is.

###############################################################################
#                            Wave 7: Special Key                              #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

Three words--GET THIS ITEM!  It's a skeleton key that will open any door,
including the one at the beginning of Wave 9, which takes you half way across
the massive lava pit!  This means that you will not need nearly as many
supplies to destroy those lava monsters and get across the pit.  Just be
careful not to use it on some other door before you get that far (by going
through an exit door in Waves 7 and 8 without the proper key).

Cart to Cave: Follow the conveyor upwards to a set of tracks.  Jump into a cart
and change lanes down at every opportunity.  Enter the tunnel it
comes to.  In the cave area, take the slide down, climb down the
ladder, and bomb your way past the lava.  You'll enter a massive
ledge.  Go down and right to a lava patch with a mask/swing hook
above it.  Bomb that lava away, then go down the ladder below it.
Now just take the slides and conveyors down to the cave exit.

1: From the cave exit, go left and up, then turn right when you reach the
bottom of a slide.  Keep going that way until you can take a slide down.
Do so, then head further to the right, use the swing hook, then go down a
ladder one level.  Swing across the patch of lava, jump down, then stand in
the upper right corner of the platform you've reached.  Bomb left from there
to hit the upper left corner of the same ledge.

2: Backtrack from the first target by climbing two ladders.  Go right across
the massive ledge and take the path below the mask/swing hook.  Stand just
to the right of the lava patch, then bomb right.  The shot should hit the
  right-hand edge of your platform.

3: Go back the way you came to the massive ledge.  There are two slides on the
bottom.  Use the one on the right and hold up and right on your controller
so you land on a ledge with a door.  Go through this door to the cart area.
Here, change lanes down once, up twice, then jump up after a lava patch.
Go up and left on the conveyors.  Swing left.  After that, let the conveyor
push you back to the right.  Stand on that end and throw a bomb diagonally
left and down, hitting the other part of the conveyor chain that you're on.
  This should hit the spot.

4: Swing back to the right and follow the conveyors down, right, and up to
reach a track.  Get on a cart (move around to make one appear), then change
lanes down when the correct switch-track comes.  Jump down just after that.
Follow the conveyor that goes down.  See that rectangle-shaped group of
conveyors on the right?  Get to the right of them and throw a bomb at it!
Use the swing there to reach the key.

###############################################################################
#                        Wave S7 (Cave): Special Key                          #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

As with Wave S5, Wave S7 has the same prize as it original level (Wave 7).  The
Special Key can be found in either part of this warp.  Also like before, all
of the doors lead to the next wave, so be careful not to leave too soon without
the key!  When you're done here, you'll go to the cave section of Wave 8.

1: From the start, climb up four ladders, stand next to the kid on the ledge
you get to, then bomb left, aiming for the left end of your platform.

2: Bomb the spike above you, if you don't want to risk running past it.  Either
way, climb up two levels from where the first target was.  Stand between a
door and a boarded hole and bomb down.

3: Continue climbing until you see a ledge above you with a single square of
lava.  Bomb that patch, then climb up to that level.  Stand on the left next
to the kid and bomb right, hitting the space between a ladder and a door.

4: Climb all the way to the top level and head right.  You'll come to a pair of
boarded holes above a slide.  Aim a bomb at the space between them.

###############################################################################
#                        Wave S7 (Carts): Special Key                         #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

This wave is TOUGH!  Since you have a choice, I do not recommend going this way
at all.  If you're going to use a warp, use the other ones, please!  Anyway, to
get to Wave 8 from here, simply go through one of the tunnels.  You'll end up
in the cart section.

1: Jump down onto the conveyor right away and save the kid.  He will give you
three extra lives (which may not be enough)!  Jump down into another cart
and SLOWLY ride to the right.  A snake should land on a conveyor belt below
you, facing left.  Jump down, landing on its right side.  DON'T KILL IT!  If
you leave it alone, it won't hurt you, but otherwise, another one will come
down on you and knock you into the lava.  Wait for another cart and jump in,
then ride until you see another conveyor below you.  Here, you will be
attacked by three snakes.  They don't chase you much, but touching them will
take you out, so watch it.  Whip them if you need more running room, just
watch your head.  Grab another cart when it comes below you and use it to
reach the next level of conveyors (if you made it this far you're in good
shape).  Stand still on the lower, long conveyor, facing right.  When it
carries you to the spot between a vertical conveyor and a kid, throw a bomb.
You should hit the far right edge.

2: Walk to the far right on the long conveyor.  Quickly turn around and bomb
to the left.  You should hit just to the left of the kid.

3: If that didn't work, bomb left again when the conveyor carries you past the
vertical conveyor (from the exact same spot where you bombed right before).
This shot should land just left of a boarded hole.

4: Still on the long conveyor, go left and bomb away the lava in your path.
Stand on the left edge of the solid ground you just created, then inch to
the left onto the next conveyor and quickly bomb left.  Your target is just
  left of the boarded hole.

#                             Wave 8: Magic Idol                              #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

Until you've seen all of the exits in Wave 10, this item is almost as important
as the Special Key.  If you have it when you get to Wave 10, it will appear on
the game screen in the exact location of the hidden exit you need to find, so
all you have to do is find the idol and throw a bomb at it!  Since the map you
assemble for that level is quite vague, this can really help.  Once you get
better at reading and following the map, you should be able to skip this item.

Cart to Cave: Swing left and walk a long ways against the conveyor.  After the
conveyor shifts up a little, look for a cart and hop in.  Quickly
change lanes up, down, and up again to reach a tunnel, which
leads to a door that is right next to the cave exit.

1: Shoot the mask on the right to make a swing hook, then swing across and head
down and right towards a conveyor belt.  Stand on the bottom of the giant
ledge at the point where it begins to slant towards this conveyor.  Bomb
right and you should hit the center of it.

2: Follow the conveyor right and down to a slide.  Use it, holding to the right
so you land on the first possible ledge on the right.  Bomb away the small
patch of lava below and go down one level.  Stand just to the right of where
the lava used to be.  Bomb down from here to hit between a kid and a ladder.

3: From the ledge with the second target, bomb a path through the lava on the
bottom and jump down.  Take the conveyor down and shoot the mask to make
a swing hook.  Stand directly below the conveyor when you use this hook, so
you land safely on the thin ledge on the other side.  Enter the door.
Quickly jump up onto a conveyor and go left as far as you can.  From there,
a short trip up should take you to a swing hook on the left.  Use it and let
the conveyor on the other side carry you all the way to the left (push up,
so you're on the highest part of the conveyor--you don't want to fall!).
From there, throw a bomb to the right.

4: From the swing hook, go up to some rails and hop into a cart.  Take it as
far as you can and jump down at the last second before you run out of track.
You'll land on a large network of conveyors.  Get to the bottom of this
group and stand below a bat hole.  Bomb down to hit the middle of a
  horizontal conveyor.

#                         Wave 9: Crossing the Lava                           #
###############################################################################

And now, for the tough part--some sick-minded game programmer REALLY didn't
want anyone to finish this game!  I say that because this person created two
of the nastiest levels in all of video games here in Waves 9 and 10!

Wave 9 forces you to have tons of supplies.  You have to cross a gigantic lava
pit to reach the end, and doing so means destroying hundreds of those lava
monsters that become stepping stones when killed.  Worse yet, there are
multiple paths to choose from and only ONE of them has enough of these things
to get you across!

So how can you win?  Well, here are some suggestions:

First off, do NOT come to this level directly from Wave 1 (by warping using
Wave S2).  If you do, you will not have nearly enough weapons to make it all
the way to the end.  The best way to go would be to play the game straight
through.  If you can do that, you'll get a ton of supplies, as well as many
extra lives from all of the points you'll score.

If you insist on warping, you can use the other ones without doing yourself any
harm.  A good strategy that works for me is to play through the first three or
four waves, saving every kid and getting all of the weapons.  Once I have
enough stuff, I start warping.  Even as I use the warps, I still save every kid
and open every boarded hole in my path (bombs are better than swords).  Equally
important is to make sure that you get all of the map pieces in each level, as
well as the Special Key and Magic Idol.

Once you actually reach Wave 9, start by clearing the area of kids to get some
last extra supplies.  After that, if you have the Special Key, go back to where
you started and go through the door.  You'll appear on an island that is half
way across the lava pit, which cuts down on the supplies you'll need to finish.
You also only have to choose from three paths instead of six.  Without the
Special Key, you can still make it, as long as you have at least 30 of every
item (although more is better).

When killing the lava creatures, be smart about what weapons you use.  All
three of your weapons can kill them, each in their own way.  Swords can kill
at close range (when attacking sideways, they will hit enemies near your head).
You should use these when you have little room to walk around.  Guns are
obviously good for longer shots.  Save your bombs for large groups of enemies.
They can kill many of them with one shot, as long as the enemies are visible
when the bombs explode.  Try not to use up all of any one item.  You'll need
some of each of them if you make it.

Once you make it across the lava, climb up the cliff and take the Sankara
Stones from the altar (cute statue, huh?).  The exit will then randomly appear
on either the left or right end of the same ledge.

#               Wave 10: The Hidden Exit (Mission Impossible)                 #
###############################################################################

Possible Exit Locations: TWENTY-FOUR!

And you thought Wave 9 was hard...my sympathies ;)

This statistic alone should be enough of an indicator that this wave is rather
large.  It is made up of not one, not two, but SIX different screens, each with
four possible locations for the secret exit.  There are a whopping 112 kids
that you can rescue, but there is fortunately no need to save any of them,
unless you're running low on supplies.  Your goal should be to find the hidden
exit and escape from this death trap as quickly as possible.

Adding to your misery are the Sankara Stones you just picked up in Wave 9.
Whenever you are killed, the enemy steals the stones from you and sets them
into the foreheads of the three giant skulls located throughout the screen you
died on.  You'll then have to go all over the screen and recover them.  Why?
Becuase even if you find the secret exit, you won't be able to open it without
them.

In a nutshell, this is one of the most diffcult levels to solve in any video
game I have ever dealt with (and I've seen my fair share of them).  The biggest
reason for this is that it is so easy to get lost.  One would think that if you
go through a door to get somewhere that you go get back to where you came from
by passing through the same door, right?  Not here!  Although this works for
some doors, other ones will take you somewhere completely different.  If you
don't know where that place is, then you're in trouble.  After dying thousands
of deaths on this wave, I have finally managed to figure out how to get around
in this place without getting lost.  Hopefully, with the maps, walkthroughs,
and hints below, you too will be able to find your way through this monster
with your head still attached.

Still here?  Good, I didn't scare you off.  Here goes:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                               Map Pieces
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, I hope you brought all of the map pieces into this level.  When you
first reach Wave 10, the fragments are assembled to show you where the hidden
exit is, and on what screen.  Even with the help of this guide, you will still
need to see enough of your own map to figure out exactly which place to go to.
If you don't have all 25 pieces, there will be some holes in the map, which
will obviously make it more difficult to read.  In case you've missed a few,
here's a list of how many pieces you should have found in each wave, as well as
the amount you should have left after you've collected every piece on a level:

Wave     # of Pieces    # Remaining
-----------------------------------
1        0              25
2        2              23
3        4              19
4        2              17
5        4              13
6        4               9
7        4               5
8        4               1
9        1               0

Note: If you used the warp waves, you should have recovered the same number of
map pieces as in the wave(s) you skipped.  For example, if you use Wave
S5, you're skipping Wave 5, so you should collect 4 map pieces.  If you
warp from Wave 1 to 7, you should have all of the fragments from Waves
     2-6 (2+4+2+4+4 = 16, or 9 remaining).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                       The Six Possible Screen Maps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, I will show what the assembled maps look like for each of the six
screens, along with which one goes with what screen.  I will also point out the
differences between the screens and maps to make it easier for you to tell
which one you have when you're playing the game, as well as what kind of
background color and obstacles to look for (matching the game screens with the
maps was one of the toughest parts of figuring this level out).

First, let me introduce some shorthand for the maps.

Map Notation:

k = Kid
S = Skull
@,#,$,% = Possible Exits ("X" on the game screen)
A,B,C,D,E = Doors

For some extra assistance, I have labeled the doors with the letters A-E,
so I can list where each of them leads to.  I always use the same five letters
because each screen always has five doors which appear in the exact same
location on all of them.  This makes them easier to find than if I gave every
door a different letter.

Door Paths:

--> = One-way path between doors
<-> = Path between doors that works both ways

Example:
"A --> 2-C" = Door "A" is a one-way path that leads to Screen #2, Door "C".

Without any further delays, here are the maps:

but this is what you get when you use text to draw maps.  Just remember
to measure distance by counting text characters instead of just using a
ruler.  There should be 20 rows and 20 columns of symbols in each map.
All six screens are exactly the same size.

                         Travelling Between Screens
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As long as you have the above maps with you when you play the game, you should
have no trouble identifying the screen that has the hidden exit.  However,
that is only part of the battle--you still have to know how to reach whatever
screen you need to go to.  That is why this section is here.  It will show you
the fastest and safest paths to any screen in Wave 10.  After following these
directions, you can refer to the sections below for the specifics on finding
each exit in each screen.  For those sections, I will also include walkthroughs
on how to recover the stones, should you be killed at any time.

Before I begin, here are some general things that you should know:

o THE WORLD IS ROUND, NOT FLAT!  A common mistake that gets you lost in here is
to assume that there's nothing past the edges of the map.  When you cross a
border on the map, you loop around to the other side.  Some of the best paths
through each screen involve going off the edges like this.  Just keep your
 head while reading that map!

Note: If you got this far in the game, this should not surprise you--most of
the levels of this game loop like this, except there's no map to make
       you think otherwise.

o TAKE YOUR TIME!  The clock ticks down very slowly and it's relatively easy
to stay alive, as long as you're not reckless in your movements.  If you
don't get killed, you'll make it to the exit much faster (since you won't
have to go chasing after the stones after dying).  Remember to stay as high
as possible on any thin ledges, so getting hit won't hurt you.

o NEVER change screens until you're completely done with the screen you're on,
especially if you died and don't have all of the stones.  When you die, the
stones will be placed on the three skulls on whatever screen you're on.  You
must recover them before you go through a door.  Otherwise, you'll have to
come back later to get them anyway.  This can be a problem because when you
return to a screen that you've been to, because all of the hazards that you
destroy (spiked floors, lava monsters, etc.) will return as if you were never
 there!

Now then, here's how to get to each screen:

Screen #1: You start Wave 10 here, with Door "B" in the lower right corner of
          the game screen.  Nuff said.

Screen #2: All five doors in Screen #1 lead to this screen.  Depending on where
you're headed, some doors are better than others.  This is because
this screen is made up of four islands that are surrounded by lava.
If you want to travel between these islands, you'll have to kill
some lava monsters to make a bridge, but that takes time.  It's a
much better idea to use the correct door on Screen #1 to get you
as close as possible to your target (see the section on Screen #2
for specifcs on when to use what door).

Screen #3: From your starting point on Screen #1, go left and then down the
slide.  Hold to the right so you land next to a door.  This is
Door "D".  Go through it and you'll appear in front of Door "A" on
Screen #2.  Enter this door and you'll end up on Screen #3, in front
          of Door "B".

Screen #4: Starting again from Screen #1, go left and take the same slide down
and right to reach Door "D" again (just like for Screen #3).  This
time, wait for a lava monster to appear at the bottom of the ladder
below you (watch out for enemies while you wait).  Kill it, then
jump down onto it.  From there, swing to the right and jump down
from the ledge you land on.  You end up next to Door "E".  Enter
this door to go to Door "E" on Screen #2.  Go through that door to
reach Door "A" on Screen #4.

Screen #5: From the start of Screen #1, go left and use the swing hook when you
reach the end of the conveyor belt.  From the other side, jump down
to reach Door "C".  Take it to reach Door "D" on Screen #2.  This
door leads to Screen #5, Door "B".

Screen #6: From the beginning of Screen #1, go right and then up the vertical
conveyor nearby to reach Door "A".  This leads to Door "C" on
Screen #2, which in turn leads to Screen #6, Door "D".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                            Screen #1: The Start
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Consider yourself lucky if your map tells you that the exit is on this screen.
It means you never have to go through any doors except for the exit!

On the above map, you should see the four possible exits, each marked with
different symbols (@,#,$,%).  Read the paragraph marked with the matching
symbol to find your exit.  If you die on this screen, check out the "Skulls"
part of this section for tips on recovering the stones.  The sections that
cover the other screens will follow this same format.

@: Go right from the start and take the slide as far down as you can.  Jump
down one ledge so you're next to a skull.  Next, shoot the mask to make a
swing hook and use it.  Take the slide here, then bomb to the right from the
  bottom of it.

#: If you got this exit location, you got the easiest one!  From the start, go
right and throw a bomb so it hits left of the vertical conveyor nearby.
  Done!

$: From the beginning, go left and down the slide, holding left as you go down.
When you reach the bottom, throw a bomb at the spiked floor on the right and
you should reveal the exit door.

%: Take the exact same path as for the "@" exit until you use the mask/swing
hook.  This time, instead of using the second slide, stand on top of the kid
  on nearby and bomb left.

Skulls: From your starting point go left and use the swing hook at the end.
Once on the other side, jump down between the lava rivers and then down
one more level to reach the first skull.  Go past it to the left and
go down the slide.  Jump down from the ledge you end up on to reach the
second skull.  Next, use the mask/swing hook on the right to reach
another slide.  Take it down, then go right to find the last skull.
Just so you know where you are, you can go down the ladder from here to
reach the conveyors near the starting point.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                          Screen #2: Lava Islands
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This should be the gray area with lava everywhere.  There are four islands on
this screen, which are set up in a square formation.  Keep this in mind, if
you're trying to reach all of the islands.  If cross the lava twice in the same
direction, you'll end up on an island you've been to.

For the secret exits here, I will begin each walkthrough from either Door "C"
or Door "A", depending on which one is closer to the destination (most of the
time, it will be Door "C").  Here's how to reach each of them from the start:

Door "C": From the beginning of Screen #1, go right and then up the vertical
conveyor nearby and through the door.

Door "A": From your starting point on Screen #1, go left and then down the
slide.  Hold to the right so you land next to a door.  That's the one
         you want.

With this information, we can begin.

@: Starting from Door "C", go down, take out the spiked floor, then starting
killing lava monsters downward to reach another island.  Once you make it
across, go down as far as you can.  Throw a bomb so you hit just to the
right of a kid in the lower right corner.

#: From Door "C", you should see a kid on the bottom of the game screen.  Bomb
down so it hits left of that kid.

$: This time, start from Door "A".  Go up as far as you can, past another door
and a spiked floor on the left.  There's a kid at the top of this island.
Bomb the area to the right of him.

%: From Door "C" again, go down and cross downward from the spiked floor.  Bomb
left from where you first set foot on the island, hitting a spot between two
  kids.

Skulls: Start from Door "C" (Note: If you died on the island with Door "A",
kill the lava monsters in the upper left corner of that island to reach
the area with Door "C").  The first skull is just to the right of this
door.  Continue past it to the right and when you reach the corner,
make a monster-bridge going up to reach the island with the second
skull.  Finally, back at Door "C", go down and cross the lava downward
from a spiked floor (just like when going to the "@" and "%" exits) and
go left from the other side to reach the last skull.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                            Screen #3: Conveyors
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the other dark blue screen.  It looks a lot like Screen #1 where you
began, but notice that this one only has conveyors for obstacles (no ladders
or slides).  That's how you can tell the difference.

All directions in this section start from Screen #3, Door "B".  Refer to the
"Travelling Between Screens" section to see how to get to this spot.

@: Start at Door "B".  Using the conveyors, go up and left to reach a pair of
vertical conveyors.  Follow these up until the one on the right ends.  Throw
a bomb at the left side of the kid there.

#: From Door "B", you should see some lava monsters on the right.  Kill them to
reach the conveyor above them (careful not to step into the lava!).  Destroy
the lava on the right and stand in the middle of the space you made bomb to
  the right from there.

$: Starting from Door "B", Go right and throw a bomb at the kid nearby, hanging
  in the air.  Simple.

%: Once again from Door "B", head to the right until you can go down.  Keep
going down until you pass some lava monsters (they will appear on the left).
Take the next right and bomb below the second kid (right of a boarded hole).

Skulls: First, follow the instructions for the "#" exit.  There's a skull right
next to the place that you would bomb.  Back at the start, go down and
left to reach the second skull.  From there, go down and left again to
find a door (Door "D").  Go down from there and follow that path to
       the last skull.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screen #4: Chutes and Ladders (TM)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your map leads you to this orange screen, you have my sympathies, as this is
the hardest screen of the six.  Take extra care not to fall down from the wrong
place here.  Doing so can land you in places out of reach of where you came
from, forcing you to search for a way back.  This can be painful because this
network of ladders and slides here is very complex.  Read the descriptions of
each path carefully so you can learn some landmarks that will help you figure
out where you landed from a fall.  The walkthroughs cover every part of this
screen at least once and there's usually only one way to reach a certain place.

The starting point for this part is Screen #4, Door "A".

@: From Door "A", get on the slide below you, but quickly hold up and right on
the controller so you can get off immediately.  Climb the ladder here to
reach a ledge slightly above where you started.  Bomb the left end of this
  platform.

#: From Door "A" again, throw a bomb down and left to open the exit.  To reach
it, get a running start from the right and jump before you touch the left
  side of your ledge.

$: Start by making the same jump as for the "#" exit.  Climb down the LONG
ladder there (Door "B" will be on the right as you go).  At the bottom, you
should see a slide that splits left and right.  You need to jump far enough
to reach the right side of this thing.  Get as high as possible on your
ledge and make another running jump.  As soon as you hit the slide, whether
you made it or not, start holding up on your controller.  If you were short,
you'll reach a ledge where you can climb back up and jump again.  Once you
make it, you'll be on a small ledge with a ladder.  Throw a bomb up to take
care of some lava, then climb up and stand on the left end of this platform
next to a kid.  Bomb to the right from here.

%: Take the slide below Door "A" all the way down.  Climb down the ladder on
the right (bomb the lava in your way from the tiny platform half-way down)
and then go right as far as you can (to give you a map reference, the door
above here is Door "C" and one to the right is Door "D").  Use your bombs to
blow away the lava in the downward path, then go through there to reach an
area touching the left side of a slide.  Stand on the left side of this
place and bomb right, almost hitting the slide, to reveal the exit.

Skulls: Start out again from Door "A" (by now you should know that this door
is the key to switching from one half of this screen to the other).
Make that running jump to the left (like for the "#" exit) and climb
all the way down the long ladder.  When you reach bottom, switch to the
ladder to your left and go up one level.  The first skull to the left
from there, across from a swing hook.  Go down a couple of levels to
reach the left side of a slide.  Take it down and then go down the only
ladder available to reach the second skull.  Go down a couple more
ladders and then go left.  Take the ladder there up and continue to the
left (when you reach the end of this ledge, take a look around--you're
in front of the place you would bomb for the "@" exit and Door "A" is
to your left, reachable by a jump!).  Use the slide as far down as you
can, then go right.  Finally, just keep going down ladders until you
       get to the last skull.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screen #5: A Little Bit of Everything
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This screen looks a lot like Screen #1, since it's blue and has the same kinds
of obstacles.  However, the background color here is a lighter blue than the
blue anywhere else.

Start from Screen #5, Door "B" for this section.

@: Start at Door "B" and take the conveyor belt down to reach a slide.  Be
ready to make some quick moves as you use this thing--you need to hold left
until you pass one split in the slide and then switch to the right to land
near a door (Door "E").  Use the slide below here and hold up and right on
your controller to land on a small ledge.  The target is below the swing
hook here, so bomb your way to the ladder on the right and then bomb back to
the left from the foot of it (Note: if you missed your turns on the slides,
just work your way back to the start and try again--as long as you just go
up/down most of the time, you should find it with no trouble).

#: From Door "B" again, take the leftmost ladder up.  Run to the left and jump
up and left before you touch the left edge of the conveyor.  You should land
on the left half of a split slide and then onto another conveyor.  Move left
a little and then let the conveyor carry you to the right.  When you pass
the lava, bomb left to hit your target near the left end of this conveyor.

$: Follow the exact same path as you would for the "#" exit.  When you get to
that target, you need to do a few more things.  First, go down the ladder on
the left to reach a ledge next to a door (Door "C").  use the slide there
and hold up as you fall.  The place where you get off is the target.  To hit
it with a bomb, you'll have to go up and right to reach a higher ledge (with
a kid on it) and then bomb diagonally down and left from there.

%: Setting out again from Door "B", go down the conveyor and turn left at the
end of it and keep going until you reach a door (Door "D").  From there,
jump down two ledges and go left along the conveyor you land on to reach a
ladder next to a split slide.  Go up the ladder and then take the slide down
and left.  The exit door is at the bottom of this part of the slide, so move
left a little and throw a bomb at it.

Skulls: From your starting point at Door "B", you should already see the first
skull.  To reach the second one, go down the conveyor and use the
slide, holding up and left as you go down.  You should now see the
second skull in the lower left part of the screen.  Slide down from
there, then take another slide and hold right this time to land on a
conveyor that is just left of the first skull.  Go right and down from
here to reach Door "B" again.  Now follow the instructions for the
"@" exit.  When you reach the target for that door (a ledge below a
swing hook, just to the right of the first skull), go left and down to
find the last skull.  To get back to door "B", go back to the slide and
go down it, then left and up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screen #6: Lava Cavern with a Glitch
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your map leads you to this dark gold screen, you get to deal with more lava
(I know, just what you didn't need, right?).  Worse yet, if you were unlucky
enough to get the "@" exit, you're SOL (that's SIMPLY out of luck ;)  There's a
glitch on this door that keeps it from being opened!  This is because of its
location.  Hidden doors are supposed to be directly above some piece of solid
ground.  When I came here with the Magic Idol, the space that it marked was in
mid-air, off to the side from any land!  Sorry, but I don't know if there's
anything you can do about this, other than just starting over.

The walkthroughs here begin from Screen #6, Door "D".

@: If ANYONE out there manages to get through this door, please let me know.  I
would love to know a way around this glitch.  As things are, all I can do
right now is show you where it is.  From Door "D", start by killing the lava
monsters in the lower left, cross them to reach a ladder and climb down.
Jump down one level and use the swing hook on the right to reach a platform
with two kids and a door (Door "E").  Go straight down from this door and
jump down at the bottom to reach another ledge with a door (Door "A", since
you just looped from the bottom of the map to the top).  On the right side
of this ledge is a mask/swing hook with some lava on the other side.  Take
care of the lava and then whip the TOP of the swing hook when you create it
to make sure that you land safely on the other side (if you're too low, you
won't make it).  Once across, swing to the right one more time to reach the
ledge where the door is supposed to be.  Throwing a bomb at the space to the
left of the kid here should create a door, but it doesn't.  There's nothing
you can do about this, so you can never finish the level.  You'll just have
to try again another time and hope you don't get this door.

#: Here's a nice easy one.  From Door "D", bomb away the lava below you and
stand in the space you've made.  Bomb to the right form there to hit the
right side of this lower area.

$: Once again from Door "D", go left and use the mask/swing hook there to reach
a platform above a skull.  Jump down to the skull and throw a bomb at the
left side of it to reveal the exit.

%: Starting at Door "D", destroy the lava monsters in the lower left of the
screen, cross them to reach a ladder and climb down.  From the bottom of
this ladder, bomb down to find the exit door.

Skulls: Follow the path for the "$" exit to reach the first skull.  To get out
of that little island, destroy the lava monsters below you and jump
down onto them, then jump again to reach solid ground.  Use the swing
hook on the left to reach a door (Door "E").  Continue to the left and
swing across to the area with the second skull.  Go back to Door "D" by
killing the lava monsters above the ladder next to this skull.  Kill
some more lava monsters above Door "D" to go up and left to the ledge
where you'll find the last skull.

#                               Wave 11: Guns                                 #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

Congratulations are in order if you've made it this far!  From here, you should
have clear sailing to the end of the game.  You're not quite done yet, though.
In this wave, your goal is to simply climb up to the exit at the top.  However,
like in Wave 10, you will lose the Sankara Stones if you die.  The exit will
once again be locked unless you have them all.  Fortunately, there's only one
set of skulls to retrieve the stones from.  Also, this wave is very linear, so
you should not have to worry about getting lost.  Just don't take too long
becuase the clock ticks faster than usual here.

As for the hidden guns, I don't think there's much of a point to getting them,
except to collect more bonus points (see the next chapter on Wave 12).
Still, this guide would be incomplete if it didn't list their locations, so
here they are:

1: From the start, go right and swing across to a ladder.  Stand on the left
side of the bottom ledge and bomb right to hit the other side of this
  ladder.

2: After you get to the first skull, use the mask/swing hook to go right,
climb the ladder, then use another mask/swing hook to go back to the left.
Stand as high as possible and bomb left, hitting the left side of the next
  ladder.

3: When you reach the second skull, climb up three ladders, then bomb down from
the top of the third ladder.  The target touches this ladder.

4: Near the end, you'll come to a fork in the road where you can either take
a ladder on the left or swing to the right.  When you get here, stand just
above the ladder you came here on and bomb up.  This should hit the area
above the top of this ledge.

Useless Tip: If you want to have some fun on this level, try walking down into
the empty black area below the exit door.  You can move around
wherever you want, as long as you don't get hit!

#                    Wave 12: Extra Lives and Bonus Points                    #
###############################################################################

Possible Locations: 4

Here it is, the final stage!  This is also a pretty easy level, when compared
to what you got through to make it here.  All you have to do is get to the
bridge with your stones and then experience the game programmer's weak attempt
at recreating the final scenes of the movie.  Depite this, there are some
interesting ways to score bonus points here.  Also, as a reward for getting
this far, there's a hidden door containing two extra lives here, just in case
you're running low.  After all, it would be a shame not to win the game now,
after coming this close, right?

1: From the start, go as far right as you can, then stand on the bottom of your
ledge.  Bomb right from there.  You should hit above the left side of the
  next platform.

2: Near the first target, you'll come to a mask/swing hook below a skull.
Line up your feet so they are the same height as this mask and bomb right.

3: Continue to the right and go through the door to the rope bridge (you need
to have all three stones).  Here, you'll be harassed by guards, flying
arrows and what looks like little hearts coming from the Mola Ram (at least
they don't look realistic--that would be disgusting).  Just keep moving to
the right.  Getting hit won't kill you here.  When you reach Mola Ram, you
can either just walk up to him and touch him, or you can do what Indy does
in the movie by using a sword to cut the bridge.  Either way, the bridge
will be cut.  You'll then appear in a new area with the rope bridge hanging
down from the cliff and Mola Ram climbing up away from you.  You now have a
choice.  You can either go after him or look for the secret door, but not
both (since it's extremely difficult to lose now, I recommend you just go
up after him).  If you insist on finding the extra lives, throw a bomb to
the right from where you first appear.

4: If that didn't work, go DOWN the broken rope bridge.  Stop when your feet
are even with the first swing hook you come to and bomb right.

Bonus Points: As I was saying above, once you reach the broken rope bridge,
you have better things to do than to go after the hidden door.
First, after all the trouble you've gone through, are you really
going to let Mola Ram escape?  Climb up after him!  When he's in
range, whip him to draw him in closer for 2,000 points per hit.
If you can touch him, you'll get an additional 10,000.

Even better than that, once you reach the top, you could just
run up to your friends to end the game, or you can hang around
close by and try to destroy as many kisses from the girl (Willy?)
as you can.  Each one is worth 7,500 points.  If you care about
points, this is more profitable than just ending the game to get
the bonuses for each weapon/life you have remaining (1,000 for
each bomb, 2,000 per sword, 3,000 per gun, and 4,000 for every
life).  Note that all types of weapons can destroy these things.
Also, don't worry about the clock ticking down to zero here.
Once it runs out, the game ends as if you had walked up to your
             friends (nothing bad happens).

For an added treat, if you whip the girl, you'll pull her towards
you, just like Indy does at the end of the movie.  Then, on the
ending screen, below the words "YOU WIN," the message "BIG MAN"
will also appear.  Not much of a treat, but no one ever said this
was the greatest game in the world--just the hardest!
