Dates Written: February 25th, 2004

I dedicate this FAQ to me.  Actually, once again I owe my cousin Kyle for
his 76 in 1 cartridge, and all of the great games that were on it.  I never
would have played a classic such as this one, and a big thank you is yours
for giving me the opportunity.

Also, for Cougar, Howler, Koonce, and Gracey.  I miss you, and I hope you
are living it up in the afterlife as you did in this world.  You will always
be in my memories, and you will never be forgotten.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Introduction-------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) You are in control of the Genesis; a state of the art warship that can
  fire off incredibly powerful missiles.  The added bonus of this ship is
  it's extremely powerful tractor beam that has an additional power; it can
  capture enemy units, followed by converting them into weapons that the
  Genesis can call upon to use in battle!  Take your Blue forces into
  battle against the hated Red, and be sure to wipe out all who oppose your
  progress!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Controls---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) This section will look at the controls for your Genesis ship, including
  how to call units into battle.

D-Pad              : The ship (the Genesis) will move in whichever
                    corresponding direction to the one pressed.

SELECT             : No apparent use.

START              : Pauses/unpauses the game.  Confirms your choice for
                    number of players.

B Button           : Fires the tractor beam, used in an attempt to grab and
                    convert an enemy force into one of your own.

A Button           : Fires off a deadly missile, which will destroy all
                    enemy forces, except for Soldiers (they run off screen
                    temporarily before returning).

B Button + A Button: This Button combo will call out whichever Unit is shown
                    in the lower right corner of the screen.  You can have
                    a maximum of 6 Units out at one time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Units-----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) This section will take a look at each Unit, including name, appearance,
  and behaviours.

                               o---------o
                               | Soldier |
                               o---------o

The most basic of units, they walk forward, firing off a few rounds, one at
a time.  After a few shots, they will stop temporarily to wave their arms
like fools, which is a perfect time to shoot/tractor them.

                               o---------o
                               | Hel-99A |
                               o---------o

This oddly named vehicle is actually your basic tank, which will roll into
the area fairly quickly, followed by firing off a long range shot every
couple of seconds.  Tanks are best dealt with by using Missiles, only using
your tractor beam when they are isolated from support from other units.

                               o--------o
                               | FL-880 |
                               o--------o

A ballistic delivery system, this rolling monster will move around slowly,
launching off shots without any rest in between.  These are very dangerous
foes as they like to congregate together, so use your Missiles to thin out
their numbers before you even consider trying to tractor them onto your
side.

                                o-------o
                                | Kieth |
                                o-------o

These are mechanized infantry, offering superior range, firepower, and
mobility over the other ground vehicles.  They are rare to see though, so
their numbers are limited for your side, but if you do see them, try to use
Missiles as much as possible, tractoring in these lovely vehicles at your
first clear and safe opportunity.

                                o-------o
                                | Louis |
                                o-------o

The last of the usable units on your side of the fight as well as the
enemy's, this highly maneuverable helictopter will move all over the screen,
actively seeking the other side's forces, firing off shots continually.
They are tough to shoot down or tractor, so try to avoid them as best you
can.

                             o--------------o
                             | Flying Crane |
                             o--------------o

These UFO like machines will fly across the screen, back and forth, in large
sweeping motions, firing off very short range shots.  The threat that this
being presetns however is not in the firepower it possesses (which is very
limited), but in it's ability to grab any units that you have deployed.  The
vehicle will then turn upwards, hauling your precious vehicle away, taking
it from you forever.  It is a realy tough object to shoot, so just avoid it
at all costs and accept it will remove some of your units (just hope it is
your Soldiers that it grabs!).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Obstacles----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) This section will look at some of the obstacles that await your Genesis
  ship on the battlefield.

                             o------------o
                             | Turret Set |
                             o------------o

Everylevel has one of these, usually situated as the last line of defense
within the level.  After taking on the enemy wave of forces in the first
portion of the level, your Genesis will find these four turrets firing off
deadly rounds.  One Missile will destory each individual turret, provided
you score a direct hit.

                               o-------o
                               | Marsh |
                               o-------o

Shown as a bunching of dots, these areas will cause your Genesis ship to be
slowed down to half-speed, making it more vulnerable to enemy fire.  Try to
move around them as best you can, but sometimes you will need to move
through them to make your advance possible.

                           o---------------o
                           | Rock Outcrops |
                           o---------------o

These barriers do not allow any movement through them, though shots can
travel right on through towards their target, regardless of the unit firing.
Work past them as fast as you can, but do not go too fast or the enemy will
trap you by having the same barriers blocking your retreat path.

                            o------------o
                            | Deflectors |
                            o------------o

These circular, metal fan-like objects will push your Genesis ship (as well
as any other mobile unit, friend or foe) in the direction of the outward
spiral lines.  These can really cause you great distress, but they are
useful for herding the enemy in the direction you wish them to travel as
well.

                            o------------o
                            | Barricades |
                            o------------o

These barriers do not allow any movement through them, though shots can
travel right on through towards their target, regardless of the unit firing.
Work past them as fast as you can, but do not go too fast or the enemy will
trap you by having the same barriers blocking your retreat path.

                        o--------------------o
                        | Anti-Gravity Field |
                        o--------------------o

Similiar to Marsh in effect, these spots are far more numerous in the levels
that they populate.  Try to go between them, but realize that this makes you
more vulnerable because the enemy can concentrate on containing your vehicle
in the small corridors.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Points-------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

5) This section will look at the Points recieved for destroying/capturing
  enemy units, and it will also list Point Totals needed to gain an
  additional Genesis ship.

                              o--------o
                              | Points |
                              o--------o

Missile Destruction: 1000 (for landing one direct hit while it flies around),
                    2000 (for landing one direct hit while it is flying away
                    with one of your units, thus saving your captured unit)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~ Turret Set ~~
Missile Destruction: 2000 (for the entire set)
                          o-------------------o
                          | 1-Up Point Totals |
                          o-------------------o
First 1-Up : 10000
Second 1-Up: 30000
Third 1-Up : 60000
So, if the continuation of the pattern is how the 1-Ups are awarded, then
the Fourth 1-Up would be recieved when you achieve a score of 100000, the
Fifth 1-Up at 150000, etc.  These are not official however, so send in your
own thoughts if you think differently (especially if you KNOW differently
from my theory).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Level Layouts-------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) This section will look into the basic level designs within the game,
  keeping in mind that the enemy AI and skills will increase with each
  level passed.
                              o-----------o
                              | Level One |
                              o-----------o
You will begin the battle with a pile of Soldiers charging towards your
Genesis in an area with no cover or obstacles to obstruct the fight.  The
enemy will then be joined quickly by a Louis, so calling in a couple troops
to help your cause against the mass of Solidrs as well as the Louis is not a
bad idea.
Work your way upwards to find a Turret Set and a Flying Crane (he appears at
timed intervals, so you may have seen it a an earlier time than this), so
wipe out the Turret Set riht away, then head north until the Red Forces see
fit to wave the white flag in utter defeat!
                              o-----------o
                              | Level Two |
                              o-----------o
Hel-99A's will charge into battle to start things off here, with both sides
having to deal with scattered marsh patches within the entire area.  Call in
a couple Soldiers to delay the enemy as well as enlisting a Hel-99A or two
of your own.  You may even wish to call in a Fl-880 or Louis if you really
want to have some assitance, but always keep Soldiers in play as they are
expendable (especially against the Flying Crane).
Once you have moved northwards, you will find a broken wall to pass to find
a Turret Set waiting.  This set has some marsh in front of it, so take your
time approaching, coming at it from angles where no Marsh will slow your
movement, allowing a less risky method of destroying it.  After it is gone,
charge northwards again to force the Red Force's surrender!
                             o-------------o
                             | Level Three |
                             o-------------o
Fl-880's will recllessly move in here, firing off shots like they never run
out of ammo (which they don't, actually), and they will find (as does your
Genesis) that rock outcrops dot the area, making direct advancement
difficult.  use some Soldiers, Hel-99A's, and maybe a Louis or a Keith to
help destroy the enemy, including the incoming Louis.
Charge northwards to pass through a narrow opening in a wall to find a rock
outcropping blocking the way to the Turret Set.  To get at them, move to the
left or right side, study the attack pattern of the bullets, and then move
to the north of the rock outcrop and take out the Turret Set as you strafe
within their range, destroying them.  Then the now familiar charge
northwards to force the white flag waving surrender of the Red Forces before
more Flying Cranes appear.
                              o------------o
                              | Level Four |
                              o------------o
You will begin the battle with a rather large portion of Soldiers charging
towards your Genesis in an area with Deflectors all set-up to send your
Genesis and units spinning into areas they did not intend to go.  Fight off
the Soldiers that are quickly joined by Louis's and Flying Cranes, making
use of large numbers of your own Soldiers (you can replenish your numbers
off of the enemy numbers) as well a Hel-99 or two.  Also try to avoid the
Deflectors as they can move you directly into the line of fire.
Charge northwards to find no obstacles blocking the path to the Turret Set,
so wipe it out quickly as they are not really a challenge without
protection, followed by moving northward with all due speed to force the
surrender of the Red Forces before Flying Cranes appear to steal some of
your forces.
                              o------------o
                              | Level Five |
                              o------------o
Keiths will attack here, so unleash Soldiers and Kieths of your own (easily
replaced with the ample supply here), fighting over the Barricades that dot
the area.  Make sure to have a Louis in play as well, as the aggressive
flying will help get Kieths staying out of your range behind barricades.
Just note that the Flying Cranes fromhere on out get more aggressive and
frequent in their appearances, so try to blow them up if at all possible.
As usual, move northwards to find a Turret Set, this one is blocked off by
Barricades, but they are still within your range.  Kill them off quickly,
then bypass their position by flanking (going left or right) to head north
to come into the area that was the Turret Set to turn north once more to
find the Red Forcers surrendering to your superior skills once again!
                              o-----------o
                              | Level Six |
                              o-----------o
Soldiers start out this donnybrook, with only your genesis seemingly
affected by the Anti-Gravity Pads.  These troops will quickly be supported
by Hel-99A's and Louis as well as Flying Cranes, so release some of your
troops to help protect your Genesis at all costs.  Continue fighting through
the viscious firefight, and the enemy numbers will thin enough to allow you
to move northward.
You will arrive at the Turret Set to find that Anti-Gravity Pads just litter
the area, so try to approach through one of the two open avenues to get into
a strafing position to finish it off quickly before charging northward to
force the surrender of the Red Forces.
  Congratulations on passing through all of the main levels, so now you
  will loop back to Level One!  However, the enemy will be more numerous,
  they will be more aggressive, Flying Cranes and Louis's are more frequent
  in their appearances, and all enemies will get some longer range shots
  before returning to their typical shots.  Good luck because this is where
  the true challenge begins for the Genesis and it's converted units!
