Famicom Jump: Eiyuu Retsuden is an NES/Famicom game, released by Bandai
in 1989. It can be categorized as an action RPG, but it also has many mini-
games throughout the quest that offer a lot of variety.
The premise of the game is that you are sucked into a Shonen Jump manga,
a popular manga series in Japan (and now in the US as well). Several
different manga stories and characters are featured in Shonen Jump, and this
game also features many different popular characters from the Jump franchise.
Americans will be very familiar with the characters Goku (from Dragon Ball Z)
and Kenshiro (from Fist of the North Star). If you're into manga or anime,
then many of the other characters might be familiar to you as well.
The "Jump" world that you are sucked into has been conquered by Piccolo
(a bad guy from Dragon Ball). He has enlisted the aid of several other bad
guys from the Jump world too. Your mission is to assemble a team of heroes
from the Jump world and defeat Piccolo. It's a simple premise, but it sets
the stage for a lot of fun!
The game was released only in Japan, so you will have to wade through
Japanese text as you play, but you won't have to understand Japanese to play
through the game if you use this guide (at least that's the plan).

On the start up screen, you will be offered the following options
(conveniently, in English):
START
CONTINUE
Choosing "Continue" brings up a password enter screen. Yes, to continue your
game, you will need to write down your passwords.
If you choose "Start", you will begin a new game. But first you will be asked
to enter your name. You will see the Japanese "alphabet", and also the
options:
もどる - "Return". Go back to the previous character that you entered.
すすむ - "Advance". Move forward to the next character.
おわり - "End". Select this when you're happy with your Japanese name.

---Battles---------------------------------------------------------[sec2a]---
As you wander around towns or the world map, you will see people wandering
around. Some of them are friendly, but most of them are enemies waiting to
pounce. If you get close enough to a character, friendly characters will
begin speaking to you, giving some sort of hint of where you should go next.
Getting close to an enemy character will begin a battle. Be careful!
Sometimes characters that look like enemies are actually friendly. If you
kill one of these, your spirit meter will move significantly toward the evil
side (see the "Spirit Meter" section below for details). To be sure a
character is an enemy, wait until it starts moving before attacking. Friendly
characters always stand still and speak, while enemies will move toward you
to attack.
During battle, press "A" to punch and "B" to throw a projectile. These
buttons are the same no matter which character you control. Your projectile
takes time to recharge before you can launch it again. So after throwing one,
you'll have to wait until you can throw another. You never run out of
projectiles though, so feel free to use them as often as you like.
Enemies can be either "melee" type or "projectile" type. A melee enemy only
attacks with its fists, while a projectile type only attacks with
projectiles. Dealing with melee type is straight forward: just punch them or
throw projectiles whenever you get the chance. Projectile types are very
difficult to hit with your fists, so it's usually smarter to just use your
projectiles and be patient. Be warned, you can shoot the enemies' projectiles
with your own, so they will avoid damage from your projectile if they shoot
at the same time. So you should draw their fire, avoid their shot, then
launch your own projectile and hope they don't have time to fire a second
one. You can also punch their projectiles, FYI, although I personally never
used that to any advantage.
All non-boss characters have the same attack pattern, meaning a melee
character has the same AI as any other melee character. However, some boss
characters will behave differently, such as teleporting during the battle, or
moving extra fast. Strategies for boss characters are given in the
walkthrough.
---Party Members---------------------------------------------------[sec2b]---
Throughout the course of the game, several characters will join your party.
Only one party member can fight at a time. To decide who is fighting, you
move the character to the front of your party (see the "Menus" section for
details).
The world map is divided into five areas. All characters must stay within the
area that you found them. For example, you find Kenshiro in area 1. If you
cross the bridge leading to area 2, Kenshiro will say he can't follow you any
further and he'll leave your party. If you return to area 1, you can summon
Kenshiro back to your party. There are also two different time zones in the
game: the past and the present. Characters found in the past will stay in the
past and characters found in the present will stay in the present.
---Power-Ups-------------------------------------------------------[sec2c]---
Every time one of your characters defeats five enemies he/she will get an
increase in their どりょく ("Effort") meter, symbolized by what looks like a
plus sign (+). This value has no seeming significance during the game until
the very end. At that time, you will want all of your party members to have a
high "Effort" level.
Your characters will often gain a large increase in their effort level by
finding special items or defeating enemy bosses. This saves a lot of level
building time, but many of your characters will still have a low effort level
by the end of the game, so you will likely have to spend some time level
building eventually to make the endgame winnable.
---Spirit Meter----------------------------------------------------[sec2d]---
Your main character has a "Spirit Meter", which is shown as a sliding scale
that goes from an angel face on the left of the meter to a devil face on the
right side. The meter slowly moves toward the devil side as you walk around
the map. It will jump toward the right side a lot if you kill a friendly
character.
The only way to make the meter move back toward the "good" side is to read
Shonen Jump magazines (しょうねんジャンプ), which can be bought at some
stores in the game. That's quite an advertisement for their magazine: spend
too much time without reading a Shonen Jump and you're evil? On extremely
rare occasions, certain enemies may drop a Shonen Jump magazine when
defeated.
As far as I can tell, the status of your spirit meter doesn't affect your
game very much. It seems that your attacks do less damage during the last
battle of the game when your spirit meter is on the evil side. But other than
that, I noticed no negative effects when your spirit meter is on evil.
---Death in the Party - Dragon Ball Hunting------------------------[sec2e]---
You begin the game with a Dragon Radar (ドラゴンレーダー). If you use it, you
will see it scan the area, looking for Dragon Balls. If a Dragon Ball is
nearby, it will be indicated by a dot on the radar. Move toward the direction
indicated on the radar, then re-scan to see if you're getting closer. You
automatically pick up the Dragon Ball if you walk over it. When you get a
Dragon Ball, you will see a ball shown below your radar.
There are seven Dragon Balls to find on the world map. After finding all
seven, you will get the Dragon Ball (ドラゴンボール) item. Use the Dragon
Ball and the dragon god Shen Long will appear and restore all of your dead
allies back to life. Of course, this is unneccesary if you never allow your
party members to die.
---Towns-----------------------------------------------------------[sec2f]---
Most towns have a store, indicated by a sign showing the number "1" on it.
You can buy expendable items and sometimes you can purchase items that are
necessary to make the story progress. There is also a store that has a
"Bandai" sign on it.
Most towns also have a restaurant, indicated by a sign with a knife and fork
on it. At a restaurant, you can pay a fee to have all of the health restored
to the party members in your active party. The options in the restaurant are:
たべる ("Eat") and たべない ("Don't eat").
There are several other doors in towns that are unmarked. The ones that are
barricaded are never enterable. But unbarricaded doors may or may not be
enterable. You just have to try going in all of them and seeing if anything
happens. Often, you'll have to enter such doors to trigger the next story
event or get a key item.

Press "Select" while walking around to bring up a menu screen. It contains
the following information:
At the top-middle section of the window is your character's stats:
せいめい - "Life". The hearts indicate how much life your character has
remaining.
どりょく - "Effort". Your effort meter looks like a series of plus signs (+).
It is like your experience level, which increases every time you
defeat 5 enemies, and its purpose will be made clear at the end of
the game.
こころ - "Spirit". This is your spirit meter. See the "Spirit Meter" section
for details.
In the upper-right window is shown the following information:
おかね - "Money"
ジャンプ #時 - "Jump Time". Tells you what time it is in the Jump world.
Seems to have no real purpose.
The window on the right side of the screen, in the middle, has the following
commands:
もちもの - "Inventory". See your inventory. Push "right" on the inventory
screen to see more items if you have more than 6.
じゅんばん - "Turn". Selects which of your party members should be at the
front of the party and fight the battles.
なかま - "Party members". Use this option to summon any party members to your
active party. Only characters allowed in the current area will be
available to summon.

--------------------------------= Area 1 =-------------------------[sec6a]---
==========
You start the game on the world map outside of a town. In your inventory, you
have a Dragon Radar (ドラゴンレーダー), which you can use to help you find
Dragon Balls. Collect all the Dragon Balls and you will be able to revive
your dead comrades. Of course, if you never let your friends die in the first
place, you'll never need to use it. See the "Death in the Party - Dragon Ball
Hunting" section above for more details.
You can enter the town, Hokuto Village, if you like.
---Hokuto Village------------------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Telephone Card (テレホンカード) - 2000
Onigiri (おにぎり) - 100
Express Delivery (たっきゅうびん) - 700
There is a store and a restaurant. You can buy the item Onigiri (おにぎり) to
replenish your health for a reasonable price. The restaurant is more
expensive, but it also replenishes your health. Onigiri is more worth your
money for now, but restaurants restore you to full health and Onigiri won't
after you have earned more hearts.
There are no story events to trigger in town. Just use this as your base to
replenish your health.
---The World Map-------------------------------------------------------------
Outside of town, walk up to the monolith just North of Hokuto Village to get
your current password. The password is the text on the second and third
lines. It is always 40 characters long.
Head West from the monolith to find a building surrounded by a moat. Cross
the bridge and enter it to find a fortune teller. She knows you're looking
for heroes. She wants 60000 Zeni (this game's currency), which is an
outrageous sum. Select はらう ("Pay"). But you don't have enough, so she
says you must fight to earn your fortune reading. Here, you battle two melee
type enemies. Their attack pattern is the same as standard enemies, but they
are a bit stronger. When you win, she says a hero you're looking for is on
the East peninsula.
Back outside, go up to the grassy area where you can move faster. Then, head
East, staying on the North end of the continent. Eventually, you'll find
Nukesaku (ぬけさく) standing on the world map. Just walk up to him and he
joins your party.
Press "Select" to open your menu screen, then select the option なかま
("Party members"). Then select ぬけさく ("Nukesaku") to bring him into your
current party. If you want to use him during battles, select the じゅんばん
("Turn") option, then select his name to put him in the front of your party.
Next, cross the bridge East of Hokuto Village, then head to the tombstone to
the Southeast. When you touch the tombstone, Kenshiro (ケンシロウ) appears
and joins your party.
Go back to Hokuto Village, then head Southwest to find a castle. You must
have Kenshiro in your party to enter it.
---Kaioh's Castle------------------------------------------------------------
I recommend using Nukesaku for traversing the castle since you will need
Kenshiro to be at full health for later. Go down at the first two forks in
your path to find an item which will power up Kenshiro when you take it.
Go back to the previous fork and go right instead. Then go down, then left at
the next two forks to find a door. Inside, you find Kaioh (カイオウ), a bad
guy from the Fist of the North Star series. Talk to him to begin a battle.
It's a different style battle than you're used to:
______________
/ Kaioh Battle |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Left/Right to move. "A" to block. "B" to punch.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description: This mini-game is straightforward. There's really no need to
try blocking Kaioh's attack. Just try to punch him as he comes into range.
It's pretty easy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, the Shonen Jump alligator says that Lin is locked in a door in
this room, but you must find the key.
Go out of the room, then go right as far as you can, then go up. You'll see a
thug that's differently colored than the enemies you've seen thus far. He
says he's your ally and says Hyou has the key. Go in the door and follow the
path until you reach another door. Inside is a room with Hyou (ヒョウ)
inside, another bad guy from the Fist of the North Star series. When you
speak to him, you will begin a standard style battle, against Hyou who is a
melee type attacker. Defeat him and you get Lin's Room Key
(リンのへやのカギ).
You need Kenshiro in your party to save Lin. If he died, you need to go
collect Dragon Balls and summon Shen Long to return Kenshiro back to life.
Return to the room where you fought Kaioh. Go in either door inside that
room to enter another room with Lin inside. Speak to her to save her. She
then mentions that you should visit the capital city to the West. This is
the end of area 1.
Outside of the castle, head West to find a bridge, which leads to area 2.
Nukesaku and Kenshiro won't follow you across the bridge, so you're on your
own again for now.
==========
--------------------------------= Area 2 =-------------------------[sec6b]---
==========
Go directly West from the bridge and you will find Goku (ゴクウ) on the world
map. But he won't join you at this time. Go South to find a city called the
West Capital.
---West Capital--------------------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Shop ("1" on sign) Shop ("Bandai" on sign)
Onigiri - 150 Toy (おもちゃ) - 1000
Battery (でんち) - 300 Toy Cross (おもちゃのクロス) - 2000
Express Delivery - 700 Air Car (エアカー) - 5000
The stores in this city sell a few important items. Later in the game, you
will need the Toy and the Toy Cross. You don't need them now, but get them
whenever it's convenient for your funds. The Air Car is completely
unnecessary, but it will allow you to move over rugged terrain faster, so
it's kind of nice to have if you have that much money to blow.
Enter the building in the upper-left corner of the city. Inside, Bulma says
she made a time machine and wants you to test it. You are warped back in time
to the past. You are in the same city, but it is now called Penguin Village
and has a different layout.
---Penguin Village (Past)----------------------------------------------------
Store items:
Canteen (すいとう) - 500
Onigiri - 150
Express Delivery - 700
Battery - 300
Go to the Southwest corner of town and follow the path leading up through the
trees to enter a house. Talk to the guy in the house and you will have to
fight two battles. The first is against a melee type enemy and the second is
against a projectile enemy. It's rather easy, but they can do a lot of damage
if you get hit, so be careful.
When you win, you get Time Bot's Plans (タイムくんせっけいず) with which you
can supposedly use Time Bot to travel through time.
Go into the house in the Southwest corner of town and you will talk to a
person who says you need some Red Chalk (あかいチョーク) to call the City
Hunter and gives you the chalk.
Go into the house in the Norteast corner of town and talk to the guy who says
he can now call Time Bot. Time Bot appears and says he can put you in a time
sleep or something, but he can't do it without the Robovitan E
(ロボビタン エ). He says to go Northeast to Robovitan and use the spring
there. You get Time Bot (タイムくん) in your inventory.
Buy the Canteen in the shop here, then go outside of town to the world map.
Stand in front of the "spring" to the Northeast of town (it just looks like a
single water tile) and you will get the Robovitan E (ロボビタン エ) if you
have the Canteen.
Return to Penguin Village and go into the Northeast house. Arale (アラレ)
will now join your party. Go back into the house again and the guy will give
you the Love Potion (ホレぐしる) which he wants you to deliver to a lady in
town. Go into the house in the Southeast of town and you give the lady there
the present.
Return to the present time by using Time Bot, then go to the Southeast corner
of Penguin Village. Stand in front of the black screen and, because you have
the Red Chalk, Kaori (かおり) appears. She wants your help to try and capture
the "hunter".

in town to retry the game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After winning the mini-game by catching Ryo, he says that he's really not a
bad person and joins your party.
Go outside and head East to the tower across the bridge. Standing to the
right of the tower is a guy named Taopaipai, a bad guy from the Dragon Ball
series. Talk to him to begin a battle. He fights with projectiles, but he's a
little different than previous battles. He doesn't walk around the screen, he
teleports. But still use a similar strategy as you have been. Walk in front
of him to make him fire, dodge the projectile, then move back into range to
shoot. When you defeat him you get the Priest Staff (にょいぼう), which he
had stolen.
Return to the Northwest corner of area 2 and talk to Goku. Talk to him and
you return the Priest Staff to him and he joins your party.
Return Southeast to the tower that Taopaipai was standing next to and enter
it. Inside the tower, Karin appears and challenges you to a mini-game.

quickly, so it's not all that easy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, you receive an item that powers up Goku and Ryo.
Enter the building located just to the Southeast of Karin Tower.
---Red Ribbon Army Base------------------------------------------------------
You'll be in a dungeon type area. At the forks, go through following
directions: down, down, and right to find a door. Go inside the door and go
up the stairs.
On the second floor, go up at the fork and follow the path to another door.
Enter it and go upstairs again.
On the third floor, go any way you like, but head to the top of the screen to
find a door. Enter to find a room with a guy inside named Commander Red,
leader of the Red Ribbon Army, bad guys from the Dragon Ball series. He's
angry that you are making it hard for him to collect Dragon Balls and a
battle begins.

the robot, but take out the soldiers to prevent them from hitting you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, the Priest Staff is broken and Goku and Ryo are powered up.
With this, you've cleared area 2.
Area 3 is located to the East of area 1. On the way, you can check out Hokuto
Village during the past.
---Hokuto Village (Past)-----------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Onigiri - 100
Shonen Jump (しょうねんジャンプ) - 170
Battery - 200
You can purchase Shonen Jump magazines here to make your spirit meter move to
the good side. See the "Spirit Meter" section of this guide for more details.
Back on the world map, go East across the bridge next to Hokuto Village, then
follow the path to a house. You couldn't enter before, but if you try to
enter it during the past, a guy inside will give you an item that powers up
Nukesaku.
Continue South and cross the bridge to enter area 3.

Having just entered area 3, enter the nearby structure. It's a train station.
You will be given the options to go to the following destinations:
すなのとびら (Sand Door)
むさしだい (Musashi Dai)
さきがけ (Sakigake)
You are leaving from Moto Hashi (もとはし) station. Sand Door and Musashi Dai
take you to approximately the same locations. Choose Sand Door as the
destination (it's cheaper), then head East to get outside of the mountain
range, then North to find a town called College Town (がくえんとし).
---College Town (Past)-------------------------------------------------------

Shonen Jump - 170
In the Southwest house in town, talk to Miku to learn that the Dream Note was
stolen by Rimel who is in the mountains to the West. Go to the building at
the top of town and enter the right door and talk to the guy inside to hear
that there is a boxing hall in the mountains to the South where you might
find the Kaiser Knuckle, which can give incredible power.
Outside, use the Time Bot to return to the present.
---College Town (Present)----------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Onigiri - 200
Shonen Jump - 170
Battery - 400
Enter the building at the top of town and enter the right-most door. Talk to
the guy inside. His name is Momo (もも) and he will join your party if you
manage to beat him at a mini-game.

Buttons: Direction arrow + "B"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A head will rise from a series of holes and you have to push the correct
direction plus the "B" button to stamp the head. At the same time, Momo
can use a helmet to cover the head, preventing you from stamping it if he
manages to take his action before you. You will get a score for how many
times you stamp the head. Then Momo will get a turn to stamp the head and
you will have the helmet to try and cover the head first. The controls and
timing is the same for you in both rounds. The timing of this mini-game is
awkward and frustrating, and Momo is very fast, so it may take several
tries to succeed. If you fail, just go back and challenge him again. It
took me three tries, so hopefully you will manage to win before too long.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
With Momo in your party, next go way to the Southwest to find another town,
Port Town.
---Port Town (Present)-------------------------------------------------------

Head left through town and eventually you'll see an old lady. Talk to her.
Then enter the building on the far left side of town and talk to the guy
inside. Next, go back to the right and eventually you'll see a child standing
outside the front door of a house. Talk to him. You give him the Toy
(おもちゃ) and he says that you should come inside and meet Seiya (セイヤ).
Seiya agrees to join your party to help defeat Piccolo.
Use Time Bot to travel to the past.

"B" to punch, "A" to block.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a side view fight, similar to the Kenshiro vs. Raoh fight. Kiku
will raise a glove and you need to hit it. It will be held at three
different possible heights: head, torso, and waist. You push "Up" + "B" to
punch high, just "B" to punch at mid-height, and "Down" + "B" to punch
low. You need to hit the glove 10 times within the time limit to win. Kiku
will also occasionally punch at you. You can push "A" to block. If you
fail to hit the glove 10 times in the time limit, or if Kiku beats the
crap out of you, you will lose, but you can just try again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, your main character is powered up and you are ready to fight in
a real match.
While still in the past, go to the Greek temple looking place a little to the
Southeast of Port Town. Talk to the boy there who tells you that Zeus has the
Kaiser Knuckle. Zeus appears. Talk to him and you will challange him to a
battle. It is a standard-style battle against a melee type attacker, but he
does a lot of damage when he hits, so avoid him as best you can. When you
win, you get the Kaiser Knuckle, which increases Momo's power.
Go to a train station and choose the destination Sakigake (さきがけ). Use
Time Bot to go to the present time, then enter the building nearest the train
station. Talk to the guy here to start a series of four battles. The first
one is against a melee type opponent, the second is versus a projectile
thrower, and the third and fourth are against more melee guys. The final guy
can move very fast and it makes this battle very difficult. I found the best
luck by not even trying to avoid the last guy, but just standing my ground
and attacking as fast as I could. When you win, you are admitted into a
school (the school from Sakigake!! Otokojuku).
Use Time Bot to return to the past.
Enter the same building that you just finished the four person battle in and
you will begin a mini-game.

/ Battle With Rimel |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Direction arrows to move, "B" to fire projectiles
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This mini-game is an overhead shooter, like Galaga. The screen
continuously Scrolls up and enemies periodically appear. Just avoid the
enemy fire, shoot them to kill them, and make your way to the top of the
level where you meet the boss, Rimel, a bad guy from the Wingman series.
It takes 3 hits for you to die during this game. Rimel takes several hits
to kill. He moves left and right, shooting projectiles in a circular
spread pattern. His shots are easy to avoid if you stay at the bottom of
the screen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After destroying Rimel, you get the Dream Note (ドリムノート).
Back outside on the world map, while still in the past, enter the building to
the right of the one you just visited. Inside, you meet Mankichi (まんきち),
who will now join your party since you have the Dream Note.
Use the train station to return to the Port Town area. Use Time Bot to return
to the present time, then enter the Greek temple looking place just to the
Southeast of Port Town to enter a dungeon type area.
---Saga's Temple-------------------------------------------------------------
Inside the temple, follow the linear path until you find a door. Inside is
Camus, who you will battle. Camus, like all of the bosses in this temple, is
from the Saint Seiya series. Camus teleports and launches projectiles. You've
faced this type of battle before, so I'm sure you know what to do. But Camus
is a little faster then the previous one, so you have to be quick to get your
shots in. Also, I found if he is facing left or right, you can stand just
above the level that his projectiles can reach and just punch him.
When you win, continue further into the dungeon. The path is once again
completely linear. You will eventually come to a room a meet Shura. This can
be a difficult battle, but if you use Momo and just stand still and punch
Shura as he comes into range, you may take less damage than if you try moving
around and avoiding him. When you win, continue into the dungeon.
The next floor has one fork at which you should go right. You will eventually
come to a room containing Death Mask (デスマスク). He's very slow and easy to
avoid. Just move in circles around the room to avoid him and launch
projectiles when you have good opportunities.
When you win, continue further into the dungeon. You'll eventually come
across Aphrodite. She is a standard projectile type opponent, so she's very
easy to defeat.
When you beat her, continue forward again and this time you will eventually
reach the final room, containing a guy called Saga (サガ).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll fight in one of those side view battles, but this time your
character, Seiya, and the enemy, Saga, both shoot limited range
projectiles. This means you are not safe even at a distance. To block the
enemy projectiles, you have to press the "A" button, but you also have to
push the directional arrow up or down if the projectiles are high or low,
or just press "A" if the projectiles are at mid-level. Press "B" to launch
your own projectiles. I found it was easiest to just shoot projectiles as
fast as I could and not try to get into the blocking thing because I was
taking a lot of hits that way since it's hard to time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, you save a woman named Saori and Seiya is powered up.
Return to Penguin Village in Area 2 (during the past). Enter the upper-right
house. Turbo will use a True Thing machine which can change toys or other
objects into the real objects they are meant to represent. Come here with the
Toy Cross and it will become a real cross, powering up Seiya.
In the present time, visit Port Town (the town in the Southwest of area 3)
and use the telephone booth. You need the Telephone Card to use the phone
booth, so buy one first in Hokuto Village (area 1) if you don't have one.
When you use the phone in Port Town, you'll get a call from Kame Sama and
Kuririn will take you to Kame House which is located on a small island. Kama
Sama says he wants you to bring him a porno (yeah, seriously).
Go all the way back to College Town in the Northeast section of area 3. Enter
it during the past and you'll find a kid at the bottom of the screen standing
next to the store. Talk to him and he'll show you a porno, then he'll give it
to you. You get the Porno (エッチなビデオ).
Return to Port Town in the present time and use the phone to return to Kame
House. For bringing the Porno, you will get the Kinto Un (きんとうん), a
cloud upon which you can fly on the world map. When you use it, your party
members will be put away, so you'll have to summon them again after landing.
Also, although Kintu Un is awesome, every time you use it, your spirit meter
will move a little to the evil side for some reason.

Travel South from Port Town, over the water, to find a new continent. Toward
the Eastern side is a monolith and a town next to it, called East Hill.
---East Hill (Present)-------------------------------------------------------
Store Items:

At the entrance will be waiting a skeleton looking enemy. Talk to him to
begin a battle. He shoots projectiles using the standard attack pattern.
Defeat him and you rescue a lady named Ruriko. She thanks you for saving her
by taking you to meet Reiki (れいき). Enter the door that you appear on to
talk to him. He joins your party and wants to take down the Devil Siders, his
enemies.
While you're here, buy the Baseball Ticket in the store in the South side of
town.
---East Hill (Past)----------------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Baseball Ticket - 200
Onigiri - 400
Shonen Jump - 170
For the time being, there's nothing of note in East Hill during the past.
If you go West from East Hill during the present, you can enter a Greek
pillar looking place. Inside is JoJo, but he's too busy to talk right now. Go
South from those pillars and you will see a vending machine. You can buy a
Cola (コーラ) there for 100 Zeni. It restores your health, similar to the
Onigiri. Buy one, but don't use it. Head to the Southwest end of this island
to find another town, Southern Cross.
---Southern Cross (Present)--------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Soccer Ticket (サッカーのチケット) - 200
Onigiri - 400
Express Delivery - 1200
Head left inside the town until you find a road going up. When you go up all
the way, go left and enter the first door that isn't barred. You'll find
Lilith (リリス). Talk to her to fight her. She fights with her fists and it's
a very easy battle at this point in the game.
Head to the upper-right part of town, buy a Soccer Ticket in the store, and
talk to the green demon, Pazus (パズス) to begin a battle with it. It shoots
projectiles and moves by teleporting. Reiki is powered up by this victory.
Use Time Bot to go to the past and re-enter this town, which is called the
South Capital during the past.
---South Captial (Past)------------------------------------------------------
Store Items:
Soccer Ticket - 200
Express Delivery - 1000

Go left to the intersection where the road goes up and you should see a weird
looking guy standing at the intersection. Talk to him and he'll give you the
Cooking Ingredient (りょうりのざいりょう) and say you should be able to make
something useful with it. Go along the road leading up. When you get all the
way up, go right and enter a nearby door. The guy inside tells you to use the
phone to meet with someone.
Go back to East Hill at the Northeast end of this island. Enter the town
during the past and go to the Southeast corner of town to find the phone
booth. Use it and you'll hear that you need to enter a submarine to meet with
Akashachi.
Go to the restaurant in the Northeast corner of this town during the past.
Inside, a kid in the restaurant will cook your Cooking Ingredient and make it
into a Good Morsel (うまいもん).
Use Time Bot to return to the present. Head Southwest to the vending machine
and you will see a guy named Speed standing next to it. He says he's thirsty
and he asks you to give him a Cola. Choose わたす ("Hand over"). He then
tells you about a book in the library with which you can learn to read Indian
words.
Go North to the Greek looking pillars (still in the present time) and talk to
Jojo (ジョジョ) inside. He will now join your party.
Use Time Bot to go to the past, then enter the Greek pillar place again to
find Isamu (イサム). Talk to him and he will join your party.
Return to South Capital, the town in the Southwest. Still in the past, go
inside and go left and talk to the strange looking guy there again to get the
44 Magnum in exchange for the Good Morsel. It doesn't appear in your
inventory, but you have it.
Go to the Southeast end of this island and enter the building there, still
during the past, which is a dungeon type area.
---Southeast Fortress--------------------------------------------------------
Inside the fortress, go the following directions at the forks: down, right,
right, right, up, up, left, left, left, and right. There you will find a
door.
Inside, you meet Kano (かのう), who will join your party since you found his
44 Magnum. You'll be warped back outside.
Return to the present time and go into the same building. Follow the same
directions as above. You can't enter the door かのう was in. Instead, there's
another door if you didn't go right at the previous fork, but instead went
down, then right.
Inside that door is Santana (サンタナ). Talk to him to begin a battle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Left/right to move. "B" to punch. Rapidly tap "A" to deal damage
after landing a punch.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is a bit unique. You cannot block, you just move left and right
and push "B" to punch. However, when you land a blow on Santana, your fist
will get stuck in him. If you do nothing, you will be damaged. Instead,
after landing a blow, rapidly tap the "A" button. The faster you tap it,
the more damage you will do to him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, Reiki and JoJo have their power increased.
Go to East Hill during the past and go to the Southwest corner of town to
find a person dressed in dark blue named Hayase. He'll give you the Race Car
(レースカー) and you'll play a mini game.
___________
/ Race Cars |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Direction arrows to turn. "B" to accelerate. "A" to break.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a racing game. You are the blue car and you must complete 10 laps
before the yellow car. You automatically turn if you run into a wall, so
you can't crash that way. But you will crash if your opponent runs into
you, so you need to do your best to avoid the other car. You also have a
fuel gauge, shown in the lower-left corner of the screen, which ticks down
as you drive. If you don't hold down "B", it won't really drain, but while
pressing "B" it drains pretty quickly. To refuel, stop in the pit stop on
the right side of the screen. To do so, be in the right lane well before
you come to the pit stop, then hold "right" as you go by the pit stop and
you will turn into it and refuel automatically.

I found this racing mini-game to be pretty hard, and it took several
(maybe 7 or so) tries to win. A perfect run consists of this strategy:
Hold the "B" button the whole time. Take the turns as soon as you can,
using the inner lane to reduce the amount of distance you travel. You
should be ahead of the yellow car from the beginning. If he catches you,
he will crash into you, making it almost impossible to win. Just focus on
making the turns, and keep an eye on your fuel gauge. When it gets close
to empty (probably after completing 5 laps), turn into the pit stop. When
you emerge from the pit stop, hold down "B" constantly to accelerate and
focus on making the turns again and you will win if you do it well.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win the racing mini game, you get a stone which will power up Jojo.
Return to Penguin Town (in area 2), during the past, and visit the upper-
right house. Turbo will give you the Otogi Machine (おとぎマシーン).
Return to Southern Cross during the present (Southwest town in area 5) and
enter the first building on the left. It's a library. Go down the middle
aisle and you will search a book on the far left side of the bookshelf. The
Otogi Machine will delve into it and you start a mini-game.
______________
/ Pillar Climb |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Tap "B" to climb.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You will play a mini-game in which Jojo has to climb some pillars. It's
easy if you know what to do, but it can be confusing to figure out. At the
top of the screen is a meter that hovers above the Japanese characters:
こ お お お... Jojo will start climbing the pillar he is in front of if
the meter is above the last two お characters on the far right side of the
meter. He will stay still if the meter is on one of the other お's, and he
will fall if it goes over the こ. Tap "B" to make the meter move farther
to the right. However, if you go all the way to the right side of the
meter, the meter will wrap around back to the far left side of the meter,
placing the cursor over the こ and making you fall, so you can't mash "B"
to fast. Just try to keep the cursor near the second to last お character,
and let it go a little more to the left when you want him to stop. You
will want him to stop to avoid the electrical charges that appear
temporarily on the pillars.

Using the rules described above, guide Jojo up the pillar on the left side
of the screen. When he gets to the top, he will appear at the bottom of
the middle pillar. Continue the same strategy to get to the top of the
middle pillar and he will appear on the right pillar. Continue climbing
until he reaches the platform at the top of the right pillar and you will
win the mini-game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jojo will be powered up after winning the mini-game.
Go to Port Town in the Southwest part of Area 3 during the present and use
the telephone. Akashachi, a pirate, will show up and allow you to use his
submarine.
___________
/ Submarine |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Direction arrows to move.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You play a mini-game in which you control the submarine in a side
scrolling view. Just avoid the mines as the submarine moves to the right.
It's very easy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you finish the submarine mini-game, you arrive in a room containing a
boss character, Urashima. Place your best character at the front of your
party, then talk to the boss. You will engage in a battle against a melee
type opponent. He is very powerful. When you win, you get a new Priest Staff
(にょいぼう). With this victory, area 4 is finally clear.
Go West of area 4, across a bridge, to enter area 5.
==========
--------------------------------= Area 5 =-------------------------[sec6e]---
==========
Head West from the bridge connecting areas 4 and 5 to find a soccer stadium.
Enter it during the present. If you have the Soccer Ticket, you can play a
mini-game.
_______________
/ Penalty Shots |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Directional arrows to move the goalie or the ball. "B" to dive if
you are defending, and "B" to shoot the ball if you are kicking.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you fail to win the game, you will have to go back to area 5 and buy a
Soccer Ticket to try again. It is a penalty shot match. You take turns
trying to kick the soccer ball into the net while Tsubasa blocks it, or
you try to block Tsubasa's shot. You shoot first, then you defend, then
you shoot, etc., until you've both shot 5 times. You have to make more
goals than Tsubasa to win the mini game.

While shooting, press "B" to kick the ball. You can make it change
direction mid-shot by using the directional arrows after kicking it. While
defending, move left and right using the direction pad to try to block the
ball. If you press "B", you will dive, which is very helpful for blocking
shots that are a large distance from you. Be wary, the computer can also
change the direction that the ball is moving mid-flight.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, Tsubasa (つばさ) will join your party.
Go South from the soccer stadium to find the baseball stadium. Enter it
during the present to play a mini-game (that you can't possibly win at this
point, by the way).
__________________
/ Home Run Hitting |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: "B" to swing the bat.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You play a baseball mini-game where you are the batter. It is the ninth
inning, two outs, bases loaded, and you're up to bat. Push "B" to swing
the bat. The pitcher might throw pitches out of the strike zone, so don't
swing at those. But when a pitch is over the plate, hit the ball. If you
strike out without hitting the ball, you'll have to go buy another
Baseball Ticket and try again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you try to play the above described mini-game, you won't be able to hit a
home run. If you hit the ball, you will just hit a pop-up and you'll be out.
Use Time Bot to go to the past. Go South from the soccer stadium to the South
end of the continent where you'll see a waterfall. To the left of the
waterfall is a rock. Stand to the left side of it and push right to push the
rock into the water. It will block the water and reveal an opening behind the
waterfall which you enter. You meet Nanjou, who gives you a legendary bat,
which doesn't appear in your inventory.
Now try the baseball mini-game (in the present, remember). You'll need a
Baseball Ticket to try it if you don't have one. This time, if you play the
baseball mini-game and manage to hit the ball, you will hit a........pop-up
again and get out!? Your bat breaks...
Go back to the past and visit the guy behind the waterfall again. Now he'll
give you the real Spirit Bat (たましいのバット), which is now in your
inventory. Buy another Baseball Ticket in East Hill and this time when you
challenge the baseball mini-game, when you hit the ball, you'll hit a home
run. Don't strike out! When you win, Tarou (たろー) joins your party.
Once again, you need a Soccer Ticket and a Baseball Ticket, so go buy them in
Southern Cross and East Hill. Then use Time Bot to go to the past. Enter the
baseball stadium during the past to get Kyuichi (きゅういち) to join your
party.
Enter the soccer stadium during the past and you will play another mini game.

Buttons: Direction arrows to move. "B" to kick the ball.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
You are supposed to keep a ball in the air and stop it from touching the
ground. Push "B" to kick the ball to get started, then try to make the
ball land on your player's head by moving left and right. You have to hit
it 20 times to win the mini-game.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, you are given a soccer ball that powers up Tsubasa.
Still in the past, go to the Southeast part of area 5 where there is a
building and a monolith. Enter the building during the past and Kinnikuman
(キンにくマン) will join your party.
Go back to Karin Tower in area 2 (East from the West Capital) during the
present era. You need to have Goku summoned to your party to enter. Karin
says that you can now visit Kami's palace since you have the Priest Staff.
Kami will give you an item that power's you up and gives you the ability to
battle Piccolo.
Go slightly Southeast from Karin Tower to find the King Castle. Enter it
during the present time. Inside is a dungeon type area.
---King Castle---------------------------------------------------------------
At the forks, go the following directions: right, left, up, down, down, up,
left, right, right, down, down, up. You will find a door that takes you up
some stairs to the second floor.
On the second floor, go the following directions at the forks: right, up,
down, down, down, and right. You will find a door that takes you up more
stairs to the third floor.
On the third floor, go the following directions at the forks: up, up, and
left. You find another door that takes you upstairs to the fourth floor.
On the fourth floor, go up both times at the forks to find a door. Piccolo is
waiting inside. Talk to Piccolo to begin a battle.
_____________________
/ Battle With Piccolo |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buttons: Left/right to move. "B" to shoot a projectile.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The battle with Piccolo is a lot like an overhead shooter. You control
your main character who moves from left to right at the bottom of the
screen. Press "B" to shoot your Rocket Punch projectile. Piccolo moves at
the top of the screen and shoots projectiles in a spread pattern every
once in awhile. It takes 5 hits for you to die. Shoot Piccolo while
avoiding his projectiles.

One strategy that might help you out quite a bit is to pause the game
whenever Piccolo shoots so that you can see where his bullets are headed
and allow you to avoid them easier.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you win, you hear that your fight has not ended. There are more still 13
more enemies as powerful as Piccolo to battle. You appear in an area in the
Northeast part of the world that was previously inaccessible. You can go back
from where you came from by going into the monolith. If you want to return
here, enter the King Castle and you will immediately warp here (without
having to go all the way through King Castle again).
---Final Battle--------------------------------------------------------------
Enter the building on the left (the stadium seems to have no purpose) and
you'll enter a series of turn-based RPG style battles. But before doing that,
you may want to do some level building to get some of your inexperienced
party members more "Effort" points (the things that look like plus signs
below your hearts). Effort points will be used to perform special attacks
during the RPG style battles, a lot like MP. You can give it a try now and
see if you're leveled enough. But make sure you have your current password,
of course.
When you enter the castle on the left, you'll see a series of spaces you have
to move along to reach the "GOAL". You'll be asked if you want to "Battle"
(しょうぶする) or "Return" (もどる). If you choose "Battle", you will begin a
battle against the next enemy. If you choose "Return", you will go back to
the world map. If you choose "Return" after you've already defeated some of
the enemies, you will have to fight all of them over again when you come
back.
For each battle, you must first choose one of your party members to do the
fighting. You'll see four names to choose from, but push up and down to see
more names. After choosing a character, the game will ask you if you're sure
(はい - "yes", or いいえ - "no"). You're then given the following options:
たたかう - "Fight".
ひっさつわざ - "Certain Kill Skills". More powerful attacks. It drains your
special power meter, which is indicated by the "+" symbols.
にげる - "Run". Switch characters.
"Fight" does weak damage no matter what and is never a good option to choose.
"Run" will allow you to change characters, although you might fail to run in
which case the enemy gets a free turn to attack. If you run, the current
opponent's health will be returned to maximum.
"Certain Kill Skills" is always the option you want to use to attack the
opponent. However, using these requires that you have enough "Effort" points.
Some characters have two skills and some have three. The skills farther down
the list are almost always the most powerful, so try using those first.
If you try to use a "Certain Kill Skill" that you don't have enough "Effort"
points to use, it will ask if your main character will donate some of his
effort points to the fighting character. Say yes (はい) and you'll see your

Now that you know the basics of these battles, I will list each of the
enemies you battle. Each enemy has certain characters from your party that
they will refuse to fight. These characters are listed below under the

that they are weak against. These characters are listed under the category
"Recommended". Obviously, the best way to win all of these battles is to
choose one of the recommended characters and use their "Certain Kill Skills"
to quickly finish the game. Good luck!
