1. Introduction        |
_______________________|

Dragon Ball Z: Assault of the Saiya-Jins is the first DBZ RPG for
the Famicom console.  A few Dragon Ball games were made rpg style,
but this one was the first to cover DBZ, and the graphics on this
were stunning for a Famicom game.  Unless you have this imported,
you will need to have a rom and emulator to play this amazing game.
I recommend FWnes or DreamNES to play these, and they are located on my site:

Now to the fun stuff!

3. FAQ          |

Q: Is this game any fun?

A: This depends on what you like, but to me, its a GREAT game!

Q: About how long should it take to win?

A: That depends, for me...a long time (and I too had a walkthrough!).
The game just focuses to much on fighting, and exp is too slow,
making levels very hard to get, but needed, it takes at least two
hours to be strong enough to take radditz!

Q: Is this game in English?

A: It depends on the game, if its imported it is japanese, if its a
rom, it might be japanese, spanish, or english, but they aren't
full spanish or english, after a while its gibberish, since I
have not found a complete patch of translations.

Q: How do you fight?

A: Like all other Dragon Ball/Z RPGs, it focuses on cards.  The top
left has a dragon ball, with 1-7 stars, or a Z.  This is the
attack power.  In the bottom right corner, there is a number, or
in japanese, a symbol.  I am not sure about the symbols, except ~
is the worst, and Z is the best.  Hopefully I will learn this
  soon!

Q: How on earth do I move in this game!?

A: You use your cards to move also.  I recommend keeping all
characters close together, for if you fight solo, its harder,
and you get just as much exp for that character as you would
in a group of many.  I also recommend using your lowest attack
cards to move, and not ever using ki attack (or skill on the
english one) cards, since these are VERY strong if you have
the ki to use an attack.

Now for the walkthrough!

4. Walkthrough  |

Okay, you start the game quickly.  A mad saiya-jin named Radditz
lands on earth, scares a farmer, and attacks Piccolo from the
very start.  Then it goes to you and your son Gohan heading to
Kame-sennin's island (Master Roshi in America) for a little reunion
sort of thing.  Once you arrive, you manage to get a greeting in
and this Saiya-jin named Radditz finds you, claims to be your
brother, and takes your son!  Talk about rude!

Suddenly Piccolo arrives, saying that your way too weak to do it
alone, and hes totally right. Currently, Radditz is over 6x
stronger than you!  But Piccolo couldn't touch him either.  So the
only thing to do is form an alliance for now, to kick his
hairy monkey butt!

Unlike most RPGs, the "Inn" house is used a LOT.  Princess
Snake's Inns are all over the place so you don't have to get killed
finding one.  This game had lots of them for a reason, and it
is that you will fight so much that you need healing quite a lot.

Currently, your no match for Radditz, he could flick his finger at
you and kill you that way.  So what can you do?  Fight like crazy.
This gets VERY boring after a while.  But the programmers weren't
idiots.  They new it would take a while, so they made little
training games for you to play.

Now I will get into some depth of these games.

The first one you will find is just a little bit east I think of
where you started.  This is one of them.  It shows a square with
a circle and a 'T'.  Enter this to find 1 of 3 training games,
found throughout the map.

The first game is one where you split into 2 and fight the other
half.  This gives a large boost to your powerlevel, but afterwords
your very very weak (half your life, and if you lose, almost no
life and lots of ki gone).  So I don't prefer this mini-game.

The second mini game is fairly simple.  Your character carries a
rock to five locations, and if they make it, you get some exp.
When you start, you decide to beat the cards attack or defense
number.  If you fail, the rock crushes you, and your down 2 ki
points.  Once again, I dont like this one too much.

The third, and my personal favorite, is this game.  You must
pick one of the 5 cards at the top and match the attack,
symbol/words on the card, or the defense, and you can do any of
the 3.  If you lose, all the points you won are taken back, and
some ki points are taken from you.  If you win though, you get
lots of points if you took time to get them.

HERE is a secret on the rock and card matching game!  If you use
DreamNES, use a save state before picking a card!  If you cant
match it on the matching game, or beat it in the rock game, load
the state, and pick a card again!  Its totally random what the
card you picked had for stats.  So if you take the time, you
could take Goku or Piccolo to the card game, and just keep
going till you match like 200 cards, and leave with 400 points
added to your powerlevel!  Talk about fast training!

Now its time to prepare to attack Radditz and save your son!  I
recommend having like 1200 for the powerlevels (exp) of both Gokuu
and Piccolo.  The higher, the better, since Radditz is...
HARD...

Keep fighting using your Ki attacks as much as you can.  Normally
Radditz heads for whoever has the lower powerlevel, so that
person should use high defense cards while the other uses the
best offense cards you can get!  Eventually you should win him!
If not, fight harder or get higher powerlevels.

After the fight, whether Gokuu died or lived, he will be heading
to King Kai's planet!  This takes a VERY long time and gets pretty
boring.  There is nothing to explain.  The training games used on
the way are required to go to (You can't go past them unless you
beat them), and they are the rock game (look at the side games I
talked about to see what this is).  There are no choices to make
on the way to the planet, so if you need a walkthrough...something
is wrong with your game or you!

Ok, now you are back on earth with Kami, and your buddies
(TenShinHan, Chaou Zu, Yamtcha, Piccolo, Gohan, and Kuririn).  You
must make 3 groups of 2 characters to collect the Dragon Balls
from Garlic Jr. and his minions!  Some bad guys are easier than
others though.
Your groups should be as follows:

Group 1 - Tien and Chaou Zu
Group 2 - Yamtcha and Kuririn
Group 3 - Piccolo and Gohan

This makes it a little easier (or so I think).  You have the weaker
guys first, to fight the weakest baddy, and the stronger ones for
the tougher guys.  So I prefer that set up.

Now you have control of Tien and Chaou Zu, or whatever you made for
your first group.  You get a joyful mountain terrain filled with snow.
You start next to Princess Snake's Inn, where you will heal OFTEN from
the tough fights arround here.  The average guys just got a lot harder,
but your still weak!

More to come often!  Keep checking back!
