Preface
This FAQ is about the semi-unknown Nintendo (NES) game, Dr. Chaos. When
you play this game it seems pointless at first. It is only when you
find the "Ultraspace Sensor" that the game opens up and has any gameplay
value. But it is difficult to get this item if you do not know how.
That is where this FAQ comes in and brings a point to this game. The
makers of Dr. Chaos should have made it clearer on how to begin this
game. This FAQ will help remedy this problem.
Story (Directly from Instruction Booklet)
It had been three months since Michael last heard from his brother. He
grew impatient as he waited for his letter. He waited for another
month, but to no avail. With some concern Michael began to suspect that
something had happened to him. Michael's brother, Doctor Ginn Chaos,
was a genius in physics specializing in warp zones. He knew that the
experiments on warp zones could bring hazardous results, so he conducted
research alone at his lab in a remote village. He sent Michael a
research report every month. According to the last report, Dr. Chaos
had succeeded in creating warp zones. He seemed to have continued his
research on the effects of such space on a living body. Michael decided
to go to his brother's lab. The lab stood in a quiet evening, but it
didn't look like anything existed inside. Gathering his courage,
Michael stepped inside the house. In the silent hallway, he saw only
rats and bats. On a desk near the doorway he found his brother's diary.
On the last page he read:
"I made a great mistake. I overlooked the effect of warp zones on
living organisms. It was too late when I realized this. The living
things in the warp zone had grown so big that they began to take over my
house. The warp zone can swallow you up at any time. Open one of the
doors to the warp zone and you will be attacked by these monsters. I
have been trying to invent machines to stop the monsters but I am not
sure if I still have time. My brother Michael, if you happen to read
this diary, you are the only one who can stop this situation."
Michael searched for the machines, but could not find them. The
monsters coming out of the warp zones must have grabbed them away. He
had to do something about this before someone fell victim to the
monsters. With a knife in his hand, Michael kicked open the door . . .
Objective of the Game
To save Dr. Chaos, you must find the Ultraspace Sensor. Use it to find
warp zones containing other machines and parts for the Laser. The
machines will help you find all the pieces of the Laser. Finally use
the Laser, along with help from the machines, to destroy Canbarian.

Stages
Below is a map of the interior of the house. 2D indicates two doors in
the hallway for that room. 1D indicates one door in the hallway for
that room. ND indicates no door in the hallway for that room. W#
indicates the corresponding warp zone which is on the north side of the
room (except for W9 which is on the south side of the room). A double
line on a wall indicates a wall that you must Hit to go through to the
next room (hit west walls to go left, hit east walls to go right, and
hit north walls to go either up or down). A single line in a wall
indicates a door between the rooms:

Below are descriptions of the corresponding warp zones. You can go
through them in a different order, but, because of items required for
some stages and boss difficulties, this order is best:
Warp Zone 1
Unlike all other stages, you do not need the Ultraspace Sensor to enter
this stage (because this is where you get it). Just go to the room,
point to the north open window, and command Go. Make your way to the
weak, little caterpillar (can use only knife). Stab him several times
and get the laser piece and the Ultraspace Sensor.
Warp Zone 2
Make your way through this stage to the floating, puffy man (can use
knife or grenades). Throw about three grenades and he is defeated.
You'll receive a red vitamin in this stage.
Warp Zone 3
Make your way through this stage to the large, charging caterpillar (can
use knife, pistol, or machine gun). Wait for a pause in his charge and
drop down, shoot him a couple times with your machine gun, then jump
back up. Do it about ten times until he is defeated. You'll receive
the air helmet in this stage.
Warp Zone 4
Air helmet required. Make your way through the stage (use your pistol
on the fish) to the large tortoise (can use knife, pistol, or machine
gun). Wait for him to get near you and jump over him so your fighting
on the opposite side. Stab him several times until he splits into five
smaller tortoises. Stay in the right indention in the wall and shoot
the small things with your machine gun. You'll receive the jump boots
in this stage.
Warp Zone 5
Jump boots required. Make your way through the stage to the large,
spinning trilobite (can use knife, pistol, or machine gun). Stay up top
until it stops spinning. Drop down, shoot it with the machine gun, then
jump back up. You'll receive a red vitamin in this stage.
Warp Zone 6
Air helmet and jump boots required. Make your way to the large worm
(can use knife, pistol, or machine gun). Just shoot the small worms
that come at you while shooting the large worm with your machine gun.
You'll receive a red vitamin here.
Warp Zone 7
Jump boots required. Make your way to the flying demon (can use knife,
pistol, or machine gun). Shoot it with the machine gun while dodging it
and its fireballs. You'll receive a red vitamin here.
Warp Zone 8
Jump boots required. Make your way to the rolling turtle (can use
knife, pistol, or machine gun). Shoot it with your machine gun while it
is standing. Stay in the middle to time and jump over it when it rolls.
Grab the shield suit while battling it for some extra protection.
Warp Zone 9
Air helmet and jump boots required. Make your way to the ball of skull
and bones (can use knife, pistol, or machine gun). Constantly shoot the
skull with your machine gun (even when the bones are around it). You'll
receive a blue vitamin during the boss.
Warp Zone 10
Air helmet and jump boots required. Make your way to the snake skeleton
(can use knife, pistol, or machine gun). Quickly get behind it and
rapidly shoot it with your machine gun. Do not be concerned with the
snake splitting. Act like you're playing Centipede and quickly shoot
the heads. You'll receive a blue vitamin during the boss.
Warp Zone 11
Restored laser required to defeat Canbarian. Make your way to Canbarian
and use your knife to awaken him. Your laser will automatically start.
Just constantly shoot him about ten times and free Dr. Chaos!
Password/Game Over
To keep passwords, press start then A or B to access them at anytime
during hallway or warp zone areas. If you get game over, you lose most
of your energy and all of your pistols, machine guns, and grenades--so
keep track of passwords often. Here is a couple pair of my own
passwords you can use (the 0's are zeros):
Start game with 99HP, 99 pistol, 99 machine gun, and 99 grenades:
GRH05 K9MTN or 7K6XG AGRH0
8K6XG A6W 5K9FT NLL
Everything in stock:
20F6L 85MCS or SM01D A6CH7
J4ZK9 H5G WTC8G 3PW
