I dedicate this to my late Uncle Jim, who gave this game to my brother.
Although you have been gone for many years, you always took the time to pay
attention to me even when you were not really interested.
Also, for Cougar. I miss you, and I hope you are living it up in the
afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my memories, and
you will never be forgotten.

-------------------------------Introduction---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) This game is about a down trodden people who are facing extinction. The
Scientists remaining to them have designed a vehicle that is the ultimate
fighting machine. Codenamed CYBERNOID, it has an impressive arsenal of
weaponry, along with incredible maneuverability. This is the last chance
these people have, and you have been selected to be their pilot. You are
the only thing between them, and annihilation. You must fight your way
through three very intense (and darn near impossible) levels.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Controls------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) This section will look at how to control the ultimate fighting machine.
These are the movements that will needed to be mastered if your people to
survive the attacks.
UP-------> this is used to move your ship into the air.
DOWN-----> This has no apparent use.
LEFT-----> this is used to move your ship to the left.
RIGHT----> this is used to move your ship to your right.
START----> Pauses/unpauses the game.
SELECT---> cycles through your special weaponry, which displays the number
of charges.
B Button-> fires your special weapons.
A Button-> fires your primary weapon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------Weapon Details--------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) These special weapons all have powers that will aid you in your mission.
Many of these weapons can kill a specific enemy. The weapons regenerate
every time you die, when you pick up a refill, or if you finish a level.
o------------------o
Special Weaponry
o------------------o
Bombs....: The most versatile of the special weapons. You should keep these
on as your default weaponry, mainly because you have a stock of
20, and these can destroy missile turrets, bubble dispensers,
etc.
Genocides: There are two charges of this extremely powerful weapon. It
emits a charge that causes all enemy ships to self-destruct.
The real shame of this weapon is it is usually used up when you
need it the most.
Shields..: This defensive move only gets one charge, and is very valuable.
It is best used when you need to go through an area that the
enemy has clogged with many ships. It lasts for ten seconds of
game time.
Bouncers.: This weapon has five charges available, and is useful in breaking
block that impede your way. As for an offensive weapon, it does
destroy enemies, but is very unreliable. This weapon emits four
balls at a 45 degree angle, that bounce off of walls at a ninety
degree angle.
Seekers..: Seekers do as their name suggest; they seek targets. However,
seekers only seem to work on turrets, bubble dispensers, etc.
This weapon has five charges.
o---------------o
Other Weapons
o---------------o
Primary Weapon: Press 'A' to fire this quick laser that will never run out.
It has little power, but it is good enough to stop ships
trying to kamikaze into yours.
Mace..........: This 'weapon' is defensive by nature, but it does destroy
smaller enemies, as well as some stationary weapons (like
certain bubble dispensers). It is found lying around on the
ground throughout the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Enemies------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) This section is going to review the many types of enemies you fight on
your mission to save your people. Please note the massive amount of
enemy fighters that accost you are not listed because their behaviours
are all the same despite their varied appearance.
Missile Silo..........: These launch a single missile to try and hit you as
you pass over.
Moving Mine...........: These work in pairs, and you need to fly in between
their movements to navigate the area safely.
Cannon................: These shoot projectiles to try to hit you. Normally
in areas where you have to fly directly through
their firing area.
Green Bubble Dispenser: these look like vegetation, they dispense bubbles,
and they can be destroyed.
Blue Bubble Dispenser.: These look mechanical, they dispense bubbles, and
they can not be destroyed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------1-Up Trick---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) This trick is extremely useful in a game that gives you NINE total lives
to try to get through such a horde of enemies, that it is nigh
impossible. This trick is as follows...
o---------o
Step #1
o---------o
Find a room with a large cannon looking device on the ceiling.
o---------o
Step #2
o---------o
Move beside the cannon on its LEFT SIDE.
o---------o
Step #3
o---------o
Hold down 'A' to fire rapidly into the side of the cannon.
o---------o
Step #4
o---------o
Watch for an orange balloon with 1-UP on the side to come out of the cannon,
and go collect the balloon (worth 5,000 points and an extra man).
o---------o
Step #5
o---------o
Repeat Step #1 through Step #4 as many times as you wish.
This is a very useful event to happen in any level because it allows a
player to refill any lost lives. It is also an excellent way to collect
a lot of points in a very short period of time. Just keep an eye on the
time, because there is a room time limit that is 100 (it will cause your
ship to explode).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------Transformation Technique--------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) This trick was discovered one day when I was fooling around. I was in
the final area of level 1 (by the elevator). I was goofing around after
having played for a couple of hours (and I was naturally frustrated). I
started to fire my regular weapon, as well as my secondary weapons off as
fast as I could. When I had let my last special weaponry (I believe it
was a bouncer), and suddenly a 'T' Balloon came floating out on the
screen!!! I rushed over to it, and grabbed it, which caused my ship to
transform into a robot like warrior! I had two maces circling me
extremely fast, and my weapon numbers had changed (shields went to 5).
This also allows your character to be invincible for an extended period
of time in the next level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------Level 1 Walkthrough-----------------------------

7) This section will do a room by room guide of how to beat Level 1.

v) Room 22 is a wide open kamikaze room. Fly carefully, but swiftly. Also
remember to keep a Genocide/Shield bail out item on, and remember to exit
on the bottom part of the screen.
----------
----------
w) Room 23 is very simple to get through; just fly along the bottom, and
avoid the Blue & Green Bubble Dispensers located on the top of the
screen. This was the end of the last level in terms of room number, so
congratulations on making it this far.

x) Room 24 has two Missiles Silos (not a factor), and kamikazes coming from
the top to the bottom. Go up the right side, and be ready with the bail
out item(s) we know so well. Make sure to exit on far right of the room.

y) Room 25 has four Missile Silos, but if you are far enough right, they are
not a factor, just quickly move on to the next room.

z) Room 26 has a Green Bubble Dispenser, and kamikazes to harass you (from
bottom to top). Use a Seeker to destroy the Green Bubble Dispenser, and
then begin your descent with a Shield at the ready.

aa)Room 27 is a straight to the bottom room, with kamikazes (these guys are
getting annoying). Use the Breakable Bricks at the top for cover, and
then dive towards the bottom with some kind of bail out weapon at the
ready. Go to the left side as you fall.

bb)Room 28 is yet another fall to the bottom room, but a ledge is on the
left to offer some protection from the kamikazes. Go for the bottom
boldly, and hope you escape unscathed (keep an emergency item on hand).

cc)Room 29 is a bit of a break from the nasty onslaught this level has
thrown your way so far. Use Bombs to get through the Breakable Bricks,
and then exit (being aware of Cannon volleys).

ee)Room 31 has a Blue Bubble Dispenser, Green Bubble Dispenser, and
kamikazes to torment you. Blow up the Green Bubble Dispenser, and then
go for the side of the screen.

ff)Room 32 has the word DANGER spelled across the top of the screen. This
warns you of hidden Missile Silos just waiting to blast you to pieces!
Just use the advance and retreat method to bait the Missiles out, or use
a Shield to fly straight through. Time is becoming very short, so do
this as fast as you can. The game is becoming very mean, very fast, so
the end must be coming soon!

gg)Room 33 has a new wrinkle to add to your already incredibly difficult
challenges; the Green Bubble Dispenser is now invulnerable! Do your best
to fly by it, and then you must navigate a Moving Mine trap, with blocked
exits for each shaft! Use a Shield if you have one, or try to do it the
old fashioned way. Move on to the next room, if you somehow survive this
room! (Note: I actually died seven times in this room, before game eight
saw me get through with 2 lives left!)

hh)Room 34 sees you enter the ELEVATOR ROOM! Oh my goodness, you have made
it here finally! Stay cool, and do the following: use a Seeker to
destroy the evilly placed plant, shoot the Breakable Brick, fly between
the Moving Mines, and shoot some Breakable Bricks to clear room for your
ship. Then just shoot the rest of the way to the elevator to exit this
hell level! Another way to deal with the Breakable Bricks on top of the
elevator id to send Bouncers up to finish them off.

With that last fateful elevator ride, you have beaten what I consider to
be in the top five of most difficult NES games in existence! You have
escaped the space pirates that are brutalizing your people, and you have
also began the salvation of your people from these same ruffians! You
are a hero! Bask in the glory, knowing you earned every adulation you
have received! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

This game is of such extreme difficulty, only a true oldschool gamer such
as me could ever master it. I hope to construct a step by step
walkthrough so more of the gamers can achieve this rare feat. My current
best is I have beat it (after many deaths in Room 33)!
Remember to have fun, and to always take a break if you are getting too
frustrated!
