hope that you'll lift them away

Airwolf is simulator flight game where you take control of an advanced
helicopter and with it, shoot down enemy aircrafts and rescue prisoners.
It's a fairly fun game that needs a little bit of strategy and patience
so I decided to write this to help anyone having any problems. If you
follow this guide, then you should finish the game without losing a
single life.

If you have any suggestions, corrections, requests, ANYTHING related to

Right/Left: Turns Airwolf to your right/left.

Up/Down: Changes altitude of Airwolf.

1)The objective of the game.

The main objective in this game is to rescue prisoners. You won't
complete any level until you have rescued all the prisoners in
that level. After rescuing the prisoners, go to the border to end the
level.

Of course there are also fighter planes who will try to shoot you down
so it's recommended that you shoot down the enemy planes and airfields to
make your job easier.

This is a basic map screen:

_|_ This is the enemy airfield. Once you reach it, just blast away
| | until it's destroyed. Destroying it will lessen the number of

Sometimes this is replaced with an aircraft symbol.

___ This is your home base. Here you can refuel, replenish the number
_|_|_ of missiles and repair damage conflicted on the Airwolf. As soon as
_|_|_ you enter here, the screen will shift to the "Landing Screen".
Sometimes this is replaced with a drum barrel symbol.

(1): This is the left audio speaker.

(2): These are complicated buttons that are so complicated Hawke himself
doesn't know what they do.

(3): The number next to the letter "H" is the number of prisoners left. Once
this number reaches zero, the current level ends. Below it lies the fuel
gauge. This will decrease accordingly with your speed. When this depletes
to zero the Airwolf crashes and you restart the level with a life less.

(4): This is the right audio speaker.

(5): This shows the Airwolf's speed. If it reaches zero, then quickly
accelerate and change your direction. It changes by pressing ST or SL.

(6): This shows the damage conflicted on the Airwolf. You start each level with
no bars. Each hit adds one one or more bars. If you reach three bars and
get another hit, the Airwolf crashes, you lose a life and restart the level.

(7): This shows the altitude of the Airwolf. You can change this by pressing
Up or Down. Its importance is in finding certain planes and missiles.

(8): This shows the number of missiles left in the Airwolf.

(9): These are another set of complicated secret buttons. Letting you know
their porpuse will force me to kill you and commit suicide so I'll leave
it to your imagination.

(10):This is your score. The number of points recieved for each action is
explained in the FAQ section.

(11):This is the map screen. It's very important and guides you through the
level.

(12):This is an enemy aircraft. Shoot it down before it shoots YOU.

(13):This is a dumbass missile that you should either dodge or shoot. Else it
will add to you a damage bar or more.

"Landing Screen"

I can't do an ASCii art for this screen because there are many different
variations. It's a 2D screen with towers and the Airwolf. The also a marker
that shows you the wind direction. What you have to do here is control the
Airwolf so that it won't hit any of the towers and at the same time, make
a safe landing. It can sometimes get tricky but not very much.
(Keep tapping the up button to make a slow and safe landing).

We're not trying to take advantage
of you, Hawke. But we need you
again. The situation is desperate.

We finally located several POW
camps - each one filled with men
and women we once presumed
MIA. Or even worse.

Our sources tell us these people
don't have much longer. Maybe
only a few days. What's more, the
White House can't afford to let this
become public knowledge.

We've got to get in there. Quickly.
Quietly. Successfully. And bring
them back.

We assume - or rather insist - that
you'll take Santini with you. It's not
that we don't think you can handle
it alone. It's just that this area is
teeming with enemy fighter jets,
they've just upped their plane
counts, and the skies are littered
with missile-toting surveillance
teams.

Once in there, knock out as many
enemy control towers as you can.

This should prevent them from
sending even more planes up
after you.

Use your missiles. Your machine
guns, too. In fact, use everything
AIRWOLF'S got. Fortunately, it's
more than anyone else has.

As soon as the level starts, turn right and increase your speed to
reach the prisoner base as fast as possible. Keep tapping (B) to
shoot down any enemy planes in your way. Rescue the prisoner then
continue tapping (B) and Start till you reach the border.

Don't press anything until you're close to the prisoner base.
When you're near it, turn right and rescue the prisoner. After
you do that, increase your speed and reach the border. Very easy.

Remain in your direction until you become near the prisoner camp. Turn
to the right and enter. Hopefully you won't have taken any damage because
you'll have the Airwolf too fast for the enemy missiles. Otherwise, just
keep tapping the (A) button to destroy any threat.

After you do that, turn quickly so that you'll be facing the other prisoner
camp. Once you're facing it, increase your speed as much as possible and
keep firing your machine gun to destroy any missiles and planes in your
way( also your missiles when you're encountering aircrafts in hard to
shoot locations).

When you rescue the second prisoner, turn right and keep going forward till
you reach the border.

Remember: The machine gun works best with enemy missiles so keep tapping
the (A) button. You may also have to change the altitude of the Airwolf
in order to destroy certain missiles.

As soon as you start, increase your speed to reach its maximum( 896 knots).
You can do that by holding down the Start button. When you get near the
the first prisoner base( the lower one), turn slightly to your left and
rescue the prisoner there. You won't have taken any damage.

After that, descrease your speed a little( to about 650 knots) and head
towards the enemy airfield. Keep firing your machine gun to destroy the
enemy aircrafts( the missiles are more important though) and as soon as
you can see the Airfield, destroy the missile launched from there and
keep firing your machine gun till you destroy it.

Once that is taken care of, keep heading in the same direction and enter
the second prisoner camp to rescue the prisoner there. Again keep firing
your machine gun to destroy the missiles fired at you. After you rescue
the second and last prisoner, increase your speed again to reach the border.

Increase your speed to 896 knots and turn left to rescue the first
prisoner. You should do this without taking a hit. After that, turn
to face the upper prisoner base with your speed set to the max. Remember
to keep shooting your machine gun to kill off any threats.

Once you've rescued the second prisoner, turn again to face the last
prisoner camp. Rescue the last prisoner and keep going towards the border.
This level is a piece of cake if you just keep your speed at 896 knots.

Okay, this can be tricky so do exactly as I say.
As soon as you start, hold down the Start button to increase your
speed to 896 knots then immdiately hold down the right button so that
you'll enter the first prisoner base and rescue the first prisoner.

After you do that, head towards the lower prisoner base while unloading
your missiles and machine gun rounds on the enemy aircrafts and missiles.
Once you reach (1) slow down to about 500 knots and rescue the prisoner
there. Now porpusefully hit the border in order to turn 180 degrees.
Increase your speed to the max now and head to your home base. I'm sure
by now your fuel tank will be near empty, your missiles nearly out and
your damage bars countable.

If you reach the home base, then the rest becomes very easy. Rescue the
last prisoner and reach the border while alternating between the machine
gun and missiles.

This level is a piece of cake if you know what you're doing.
As soon as you see the footage of the Airwolf taking off, hold down the
right direction button. When you start, keep the buton held down and
start firing your machine gun until you reach your first prisoner base.
After you rescue your first prisoner, turn a little to the right and
increase your speed to the max. You should have no more than two damage
bars.

Your next destination is the upper right prisoner base. Continue firing
your machine gun and don't be treasuring your missiles. Rescue the prisoner
there and head to your home base. Refuel, repair your damaged Airwolf and
fill up your missiles there. Now hit your nearest border and turn towards
the last prisoner base. Increase your speed to 896 knots and keep heading
west while unloading your arsenal of weapons. Rescue the last prisoner( it
wouldn't hurt if you destroy the enemy airfield) and finish the level.

Remember: Each mission is timed. If time runs out, Briggs will tell
you that you took too long and you'll lose a life.

Because of that, you don't have any time to waste on destroying the enemy
airfield. As soon as you start, increase your speed to the max and turn
right towards the lower right prisoner base. Until you reach it, keep
firing your machine gun while changing your altitude accordingly( you
should have mastered the firing process by now).

When you've rescued your first prisoner, Keep holding the left directional
button to turn around(it would help if you decrease your speed). Your next
destination is the home base so you should empty your missiles on your way
there on enemy aircrafts.

When you're refreshened after your visit to the home base, quickly turn
around to face the nearest prisoner base. Rescue the second prisoner and
head towards the last prisoner base. Remember that your machine gun is
the best protector from the enemy missiles.

Keep your speed at its max and rescue the last prisoner. Then reach the
border which isn't too far. Phew, some satisfaction after you complete
a level as hard as that flawlessly eh?

Okay, this is the hardest mission yet so read closely.
As soon as you start, decrease your speed to about 100 - 200 knots
and turn 180 degrees. Your first destination is the upper left prisoner
base. Once you're facing it, increase your speed to the max and keep
firing your missiles and machine gun rounds.

REMEMBER: Having a high altitude is a big factor in recieving little
damage.

Once you've rescued the first prisoner, decrease your speed and turn
around to face the enemy airfield. Increase your speed and keep firing
everything the Airwolf has got. Descrease your speed before you reach it
and increase it back when it's destroyed. Your next destination is the
home base.

Reach the home base while continuing to fire your machine gun. Your
missiles should be by now empty. Refuel, repair and replenish the descrease
your speed to turn and face the upper right prisoner base. Rescue the
prisoner there then hit the border to turn around. Go to the lowest
prisoner base and rescue the prisoner there. Once you've done that, you've
practically finished 99% of the level.-_-

Hit the nearest border and finish the level. Remember now, keep your
altitude high, your speed at 896 knots and master the firing technique.
Also remember to move slightly to the right or left to dodge certain
missiles.

This is one of the easiest levels in the game!
As soon as you start, turn right and resue the prisoner right
below you. Then, turn 180 degrees to save the prisoner in the prisoner base
between the two home bases. Then head towards the one next to it, and the
one after that. This is too easy! Don't forget to keep firing your missiles
and machine gun rounds on the way.

Once you've rescued all the prisoners, head to the nearest border. You can
easily complete the level without taking a single hit.

In this level, your missiles are replaced by nuclear ones. Cool eh?
Here's the catch though: You only have three. When you press the (B)
button, the nuclear missile will destroy everything in the screen.

When you start, turn right to rescue the first prisoner. Your next
destination is the home base so test out your new missiles on your
way there. Once you're done there, continue to the prisoner base
in the eastern side and rescue the prisoner there.

After that, rescue the prisoner in the prisoner base below the
enemy airfield. From here you could either visit your home base or
continue to the last prisoner. It really depends on your damage
and missiles. When you're finished, reach the border and end the
level. Another easy level.

This is most probably the easiest level in the game. There are no
enemy planes here, just ground missiles, making it EXTREMELY easy.
As soon as you start, increase your speed to the max and hold
down the (A) button. You're going to keep holding down the (A)
button until you finish the level here.

Turn right and rescue the first prisoner. Destroy the enemy
airfield and head towards the lower prisoner base. Rescue the
prisoner there and go to the home base next to it.

Finally, head to the two prisoner bases next to each other and
rescue the two prisoners there. Then reach the border and laugh
at this pathetically easy level.
Note: If you get near the enemy airfield, then you WILL see enemy
aircrafts so stay away from it.

E.A.S.Y.
When you start, increase your speed to 897 knots and turn towards
the nearest prisoner base. Rescue the prisoner there and enter the
home base. Then rescue the prisoner above you.

When you've done that, go to the prisoner base on the right and
rescue the prisoner there. Then decrease your speed, turn around,
increase it back and rescue the last prisoner. Use your missiles
on the way there and on your way to the border.

As soon as you start, increase your speed to the max and turn right
to reach the first ptisoner base. Then head towards the lower home
base. I don't think I need to inform you of firing your machine gun
by now.

Once you've refueled, rescue the prisoner to the right. Then head to
the prisoner base on the right side and rescue the prisoner there.
Finally, rescue the last prisoner, enter the last home base and
finish the level.

When you start, turn right and increase your speed to 896 knots.
Your first destination is the lower prisoner base. Rescue the
prisoner there and decrease your speed in order to turn around.
Your next destination is the eastern home base, head there quickly.

The planes shouldn't take much effort to destroy. I figure by now
you've gotten the hang of firing your machine gun. Anyway, repair
and refuel then rescue the prisoner next to the home base. After that,
hit the border and increase your speed to the max.

Head to the upper prisoner base and rescue the prisoner there. then
enter the home base and repair. Finally, rescue your last prisoner
and reach the border to finish the level.

You have your nuclear missiles in this mission. I highly advise
you save them until you find the golden plane in the level. Now,
when you start increase your speed and head to the two prisoner
bases next to each other. Once you've rescued the two prisoners
there, turn around to rescue the prisoner in the prisoner base
right below the starting position.

Rescue here and then head to the prisoner base below. Then head
towards the home base. After that, make sure your speed is at
896 knots and head straight to the last prisoner base. Once
you've rescued the last prisoner, reach the border and end the
level.

When you start, turn left and rescue the prisoner in the prisoner
base there. Then turn right and increase your speed to the max to
rescue the prisoner in the northeastern side. After that, decrease
your speed and turn to rescue the prisoner in the prisoner base
directly above the enemy airfield.

When that's done, destroy the enemy airfield and rescue the prisoner
in the prisoner camp below it. Note: If you don't have a decent
amount of fuel, spare destroying the enemy airfield. By now, you
should have little fuel left so head to your home base.

Finally, rescue the last prisoner and reach the border to finish the
level.

This is an easy level since there aren't any planes, only ground
missiles( there are a couple of planes IF you get near the enemy
airfield though). When you start, turn left and head towards the
prisoner base in the upper left corner. Rescue the prisoner there
and turn to your right. Increase your speed to the max and keep
going till you rescue your second prisoner.

After that, decrease your speed and turn right to face the home
base, this is your next destination. Once you're done there,
rescue the prisoners in the prisoner bases in the order 1-2-3-4
and reach the border to end the level. Easy.

Remember: Keep holding down the (A) button to destroy the ground
missiles and change your altitude accordingly.

You have your nukes in this level. When you start turn left
and rescue your first prisoner. Then increase your speed to
the max and keep heading north to rescue your second prisoner.
When you do that, decrease your speed and turn right to rescue
the third prisoner.

Now go to point (1) and face south. Make sure your speed is at
896 knots. When that's complete, rescue the two prisoners,
enter the home base and destroy the enemy airfield. Next turn
left and rescue your last prisoner. Then reach the border to
end the level.

You start with your nukes in this level. As soon as you start,
turn left and use you nuclear missile to destroy the golden
plane( marked as (G)) along with any planes next to it.

Then keep going to reach the uppermost left prisoner base.
Rescue the prisoners there and in the three prisoner bases
below it. Your next target is the home base.

Once you're done in the home base, head to the prisoner base
in the southern side and rescue the prisoners there and in the
two prisoner bases above it. Then reach the border to complete
the game.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You've just saved the world!!! Now that all
prisoners have been rescued, the pressure on the government is
gone. Good job, but you still can't get any rest yet. Oh and
congratulations on beating the game without losing a single life.

Turn right and rescue your first prisoner. Then head towards the
lower home base while making sure your speed is at 896 knots.
Since you'll replenish your missiles there, use the nukes on the
way.

Once you're done in the prisoner base, rescue the prisoner in the
prisoner base next to it. Then face the nearest prisoner base and
head there while firing your machine gun. Rescue the prisoner
there.

When that's done, enter the second home base then rescue the last
prisoner. Then reach the border and complete the level.

Truth is the game coninues to bring you back to level 11 and relooping after
every time you complete the game so it's never ending. Consider yourself
finished after beating level 30 though.

Q. Is this game based on the T.V. series Airwolf?
A. Yes.

Q. How many points do I recieve for each action?
A. Destroying the following things get you the following points:

Flying Missile: 100
Ground Missile: 200
Enemy Plane : 200
Enemy Airfield: 2000

Each prisoner rescued gets you 1000 points. Golden planes do NOT
give you any points when destroyed.

Q. Why are the earlier levels harder than the latter ones?
A. Because the more you progress through the game, the more prisoners
are there for you to rescue.
You see prisoner bases can be taken as an asylum or get a
breathtaker from all the action outside.

Q. Do the landing screens get harder as you progress through the game?
A. They get more difficult every 5 levels. In the extra missions they
are as hard as they are in the levels they represent. Their difficulty
is in the affect of wind on the Airwolf.

Q. What's the name of that girl who you see in certain parts of the game?
A. Her name is getalife youraloser.

Q. What's the deal with the golden planes?
A. The golden planes appear in the last 5 missions and all the extra
missions. They appear in random locations except in the last mission.
Each golden plane destroyed will get you an extra life.

Q. Will I get an extra life for getting 100000 points?
A. No.

Q. What's the Airwolf?

A. (Copied from the game manual)

From the outside, Airwolf looks like a sophisticated executive
helicopter. Slick. Self-contained. Harmless. Which means it can
slip in and out of airports without causing much suspicion.

But from the inside, its true military strength is revealed;
walls of computerized controls, a satellite tracking system for
locating enemies and allies, and a weapons guidance system for
launching missiles and firing machine guns.

Here are a few of the other technological features of this
flying fighting machine:
- 30-millimeter Machine Guns
- Heat-seeking Copperhead Missiles
- Fly-by-Night Controls
- Satellite Transmitted Map Display
- Doppler Sensor( alerts computer to enemy aircraft)
- Radar Jammer( automatically activated by computer)

So there's your answer.

Q. How do I pause the game?
A. Press Select + Start.

Q. Can I destroy the enemy airfield after I see the enemy pilots
enter their planes?
A. No.

Q. Why does the Airwolf's speed decreases to zero when I hit the
border before rescuing all the prisoners?
A. Because the enemy is using a top-secret weapon in these border
zones. A weapon that causes your engines to stall.

Q. Why are all prisoners female?
A. To make you play the game I guess.
