0 - Introduction (NTDC)

[A storybook entitled "Yoshi's Story" opens to reveal a group of Yoshis.
They're enjoying their island in the sun.]

Out of the blue, the island fell, darkened by an evil spell.

The blink of an eye was all it took and the island became a storybook.

[The Yoshis and the sun become unhappy.]

The Super Happy Tree vanished, too, and once-happy Yoshis began to stew.

Only Baby Bowser could be so mean, to ruin the happy Yoshis' dream.

The Island had paid an awful cost, for the Super Happy Tree was lost.

[The page turns to show a clutch of Yoshi eggs on a remote part of the
island.]

Elsewhere on the pop-up isle, some Yoshi eggs survived the trial.

The spotted eggs in that Yoshi nest would soon face Baby Bowser's test.

One by one, they began to hatch. Six little Yoshis--a perfect batch!

[The page turns to illustrate the Yoshis in a circle.]

They scratched their heads and looked around. Some even tried to pound the
ground.

Sadness darkened every Yoshi's face. It should've been a Super Happy place.

They quickly saw the problem at hand required a cunning Yoshi plan.

"If we grow Super Happy," the Yoshis thought, "we'll spoil Bowser's evil
plot."

[Speech bubbles with hearts grow over every Yoshi head.]

Their mission then was crystal clear. They had to go and spread the cheer!

[The page turns, displaying the stolen Super Happy Tree.]

So it was, they all agreed, to rescue the Super Happy Tree.

They set out to follow the trail of fruit to find where the tree had taken
root.

One Yoshi wondered, as he bounced, if Baby Bowser could be trounced.

"We'll stay together," the others cried "and stomp his Baby Bowser hide."

By eating fruit and having fun, the deed would surely soon be done.

And so the Yoshis' quest began, to find the tree and save the land.

Just turn the page and you will see how happiness grows in a tree.

[Yoshi throws eggs at Cloudjin until he is vanquished.]

[Storybook Page]

The air was nippy in the winter wonderland, and the cold Yoshis got lost.

Trudging through the snow, they stumbled upon cold-hearted Cloudjin.

Shivering from the cold, not from fear, the Yoshis defeated him.

The page turned, and the Yoshis grew happier.

6.5 - Happy End (HYED)

[The final boss's dialogue is the same every time. The ending's text is
affected by the score and which path is taken.]

BABY BOWSER: What have we here? Mario's little pet! I have pets too! Let's all
play together. Play nice, you wimpy pet! I hate guests who throw Bob-bombs at
my ceiling.

[Yoshi hits Baby Bowser a few times.]

BABY BOWSER: Here's MY poem:
I'm the King,
you dino-guy.
I'll smash you now
so say 'goodbye'.

[Yoshi attacks Baby Bowser several more times.]

BABY BOWSER: Yeeeeow!!! This hurts! I hate you puny, little Yoshis. I'll give
you back your Super Stupid Tree! Besides, its fruits taste rotten to me!

[The fallen Baby Bowser is carried away by his Toadies out of his castle. The
previous storybook pages are repeated, and the finale's page is displayed.]

[Storybook Page - 6.1]

The Yoshis finally got to the castle in the final page of the storybook.

Behind all the noisy machines, Baby Bowser guarded the tree.

Bowser was a tough baby, but bad guys finish last. The Yoshis won!

[Storybook Page - 6.2]

After a long journey, the Yoshis found the castle at the end of the book.

And the author of the story was none other than bad ol' Baby Bowser!

But without shedding a tear, the Yoshis chased crybaby Bowser away.

[Storybook Page - 6.3]

At long last, the Yoshis reached the final page and the creepy castle.

The castle was haunted by ghosts, but the Yoshis won the spirited fight.

And Bowser was no match for the Yoshis, either. What a big baby!

[Storybook Page - 6.4]

The Yoshis found the castle and figured the Super Happy Tree was there.

Instead, they found hot lava and a hot-tempered Baby Bowser!

But happiness wins in the end, and the Yoshis paddled Baby Bowser.

[The Yoshis hop around the recovered tree. The ending is determined by Yoshi's
Mood, which is also your score.]

[Under 10,000 points.]

And in the end it came to pass, the Super Happy Tree was found at last.

The Yoshis had broken Bowser's spell--a tale for all the isle to tell.

And the Yoshis lived happily ever after.

[10,000 - 19,999 points.]

All's well that ends well. The Yoshis had broken Bowser's spell.

The Super Happy Tree was back. They jumped for joy with their fruity snack.
