Welcome to my FAQ on the Snowboard Kids 2!

If you are one of those people who
thinks it's too hard to get all the snowboards, wants to know the stats
of the snowboards, or you just want to use my list as a checklist for
the Boards, this is what my guide is for!

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\==========================\\
|==( 1 . a ) Why Did You Write This FAQ? =|
\\--\_/-\_/------------------------------//

I wrote this guide because I liked this game. I played it for a long
time and wanted to help anyone else who needed it.

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\===============================\\
|==( 1 . b ) What Did You Think Of This Game? =|
\\--\_/-\_/-----------------------------------//

I don't know the history of the Snowboard Kids games nor their developers.
All I know is that there was a company called Racdym somewhere in Japan
that developed this game. They developed the first game and sent it over
here somewhere around 1997. I ignored it for now and waited a few years.
Eventually, Snowboard Kids 2 came out and looked better than the first.
I was tired of waiting and decided to rent this game and give it a chance.
When I got this game, my only regret is that I didn't sneak into Racdym
headquarters and hold the employees hostage for the first copy ever made.
If you read the title of this review, you would automatically know how
much I like this game.

Gameplay 11.5/10

Let's start with the brain and heart of any video game: the gameplay.
The gameplay is very good. There are many different aspects of gameplay
to cover.

The snowboard selection is very good; there's enough to cover anyone's
taste in snowboards, such as the Trick Board family, the Balance Board
family, and the Speed Board family (three, actually). It may seem like
very little, but when you start winning races, you can buy the upgraded
versions of these boards. These upgraded versions go by levels.
If that's not enough, you can find other snowboards if you try hard
enough. How many can you find?

The character selection is wider than the snowboard selection. Among the
characters are balanced characters, such as Slash and Jam; speed characters,
such as Linda and Tommy; and trick characters, such as Wendy and Nancy. If
you want to overcome some of their minor weaknesses, you can combine them
with the proper snowboards. There are so many working combinations you can
make. The possibilities are endless.

Besides characters and boards, there are tracks. These are all nice and
beautiful tracks and all very original (in a good way) and well designed.
There are up to 15 different tracks in the game. You have to figure out
which one is which on your own....

Lastly, there are bosses in the game. I know it's unusual for racing games
to have bosses, but this game seems to have some. It's a very original
system of fighting. The common boss needs to be hit ten times with weapons
before he hits the finish line. There are a few exceptions; you might have
to race the boss or hit him a little more than ten times. Besides that, I
like how innovative the fighting system is.

Gameplay 11.5/10
Very nice and very well done, Racdym. You have done your very best and the
results paid off. If only there was a sequel to this game... (There isn't!)

Sound and Music 18/10

Yes, the music is THAT GOOD! I would rather take my TV, Nintendo 64, a
controller, a generator, and a copy of this game instead of a CD player.
I know that sounds a little far-fetched, but the music is just THAT GOOD!

The sound is pretty average and normal. It's made up of the explosions,
strikes, and a few minor voice phrases. The game has some lesser voices such a
s "Oh no," "Ha ha," ect.

Sound and Music 18/10
No comment.

Graphics 9/10

Everything is clear and crisp-looking in the game. All the characters are
well detailed and well done, but the little cardboard people on the sides
of the tracks have almost no detail. You can see, every texture, polygon,
shape, color and detail. The tracks are pretty nice and that's about it on
graphics.

Graphics 9/10
I could stick these graphics on a lollipop and call it eye candy because the
rest of the graphics are very nice and well done. Of course, the little
cardboard people would be the crusty rotten mold if you let the candy spoil.

Story 10/10

The story starts with a little demon child named Damien. He rises from the
ground all dramatically and shouts that he will take over Snowtown, the
setting of the story. Fortunately, Damien is easily ignored and not taken
seriously if he is noticed. He sees the only people close by are the
Snowboard Kids looking at a rocket that makes the snowboards faster.
He wants to annoy them so they can take him seriously. Will he ever be
able to do it? Will he be stopped if he does? Get the game and find out!

Story 10/10

Real original adding twists to an otherwise generic story to make it very
original. Well done.

Replay Value 10/10

There are some hidden snowboards in the game. You have to figure out how
to unlock them and collect them, which could take you awhile. Get a
sandwich and a drink, because this will take a few extra hours.

Buy or Rent? Buy

You should buy this game and forget renting it. If you are a racing game
fan who owns an Nintendo 64, but not this game, you must be a fool of some
kind. This is a must have for anyone who has access to a Nintendo 64.

My Grand Total 10/10

As you can tell by the review I put here, I really like this game.

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\====================\\
|==( 1 . c ) What Is This FAQ For? =|
\\--\_/-\_/------------------------//

This is an FAQ on the stats on the Boards you collect in the game. I
have them all listed here for anyone who might need to know how to
unlock them.

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\===============================\\
|==( 1 . d ) What Information Is In This FAQ? =|
\\--\_/-\_/-----------------------------------//

I'm glad you asked. I included the Board list, the stats, the levels,
the hidden boards and how to unlock them. Everything in this FAQ is
here to help you on the snowboards!

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\====================\\
|==( 1 . e ) Why Snowboard Kids 2? =|
\\--\_/-\_/------------------------//

If you ask that, here's another question: "What kind of idiot would ask
that kind of question?" Seriously, Snowboard Kids 2 is an awesome game
and any N64 owner who doesn't have a copy must be a fool. You have to
at least rent a copy if you didn't already do so yet.

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\====================================\\
|==( 1 . f ) Where Can I Find A Copy Of This Game? =|
\\--\_/-\_/----------------------------------------//

Judging the year it is now, you might only be able to find a copy in a
used game store for a low price. If the price is low, the seller doesn't
know how valuable this game really is.

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\=======================================\\
|==( 1 . g ) How can I Find What I Want If It's Here? =|
\\--\_/-\_/-------------------------------------------//

If you know all the prices of the snowboards or have a question on the
snowboards, e-mail me at [email protected] If you send me the
prices of the snowboards, include your GameFAQs username, nickname, or
if you want, your real name. I will credit you and put your name under
the special thanks list.

UPDATE: I'm no longer updating this FAQ, so don't bother sending me
anything on it. It's not very rewarding anymore, but I may feel like
helping one or two people on something.

Now, for the moment you've been waiting for (drumroll): the Snowboard
List! All the info you could possibly want on the snowboards is listed
below. I hope you like them; I went to turn on my N64 and copy the stats
just so you can see them!

Note: On the snowboard stats, I used little dashes to mark the stats
on the snowboard attributes. 1 is worst; 10 is best. I also included
the number if you don't want to count dashes throughout this whole FAQ.

====================

/------------------------\
|2.a.1>-Balance Board Lv. 1|
\------------------------/
Obtained: You start with it!

Stats
-----
Speed: ---3
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: I just can't stand using this unreliable board. Just use it
one time in the very first race and never use it again when you save
enough for a Trick Board Lv. 2 (which shouldn't be too long).

/------------------------\
|2.a.2>-Balance Board Lv. 2|
\------------------------/
Obtained: At Snowboard Shop

Stats
-----
Speed: -----5
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: I don't like these Balance Boards. I didn't like the low
turning and jump they all seem to have. Use this with balanced
characters like Slash and Jam.

/------------------------\
|2.a.3>-Balance Board Lv. 3|
\------------------------/
Obtained: At Snowboard Shop

Stats
-----
Speed: -------7
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: This is the best alternative to Trick Board Lv. 3. If you
somehow don't have that board, you should use this one. Otherwise, I
still can't see why people like this board so much. Use this board
with characters like Nancy or Wendy and avoid it if you have a thing
for using characters like Tommy or Linda.

/-------------\
2.a.4|*OVERALL*|========================================================
\-------------/

Balance Boards are only good if you are a player who is novice and is
a turning master. Avoid these boards if you haven't mastered turning or
see my Character/Board Combo List for a good use.

/----------------------\
|2.a.5>-Trick Board Lv. 1|
\----------------------/
Obtained: You start with it!
Price: N/A

Stats
-----
Speed: --2
Turn:  -----5
Jump:  -----5

My Opinion: The first Trick Board incarnation is the slowest non-hidden
snowboard in the game. Do not use this with anyone like Nancy or Wendy!
Use this board with Tommy or Linda for a good combo!

/----------------------\
|2.a.6>-Trick Board Lv. 2|
\----------------------/
Obtained: At Snowboard Shop

Stats
-----
Speed: ----4
Turn:  -----5
Jump:  -----5

My Opinion: I don't have a comment on this board. I think it seems too
neutral to describe.

/----------------------\
|2.a.7>-Trick Board Lv. 3|
\----------------------/
Obtained: At Snowboard Shop

Stats
-----
Speed: ------6
Turn:  -----5
Jump:  -----5

My Opinion: This is my favorite normal board in the entire game. I think
every player should use this if they can't get their hands on a Star
Board. This board is great with any character that isn't too fast and
has bad turning.

/-------------\
2.a.8|*OVERALL*|========================================================
\-------------/

Trick Boards should only be used later in the game when you can afford
the level 3 board. Avoid these boards at the very beginning of the game
(i.e. Sunny Mountain). Wait until you can afford the level 2 and 3
boards. Other than that, avoid the level 1 board. The level 1 trick
board is nothing but trash unless used correctly. (To use this
correctly, see the Character/Board Combo List.)

/---------------------\
|2.a.9>-Speed Board Lv.1|
\---------------------/
Obtained: For the third time, YOU START WITH IT!
Price: N/A

Stats
-----
Speed: ----4
Turn:  ---3
Jump:  ---3

My Opinion: I don't know what to say about this board. Maybe you should
use a balanced character for this board. Other than that, it's pretty
fast.

/----------------------\
|2.a.10>-Speed Board Lv.2|
\----------------------/
Obtained: Yet, another board you get at the Shop. Who could have seen
that coming (sarcasm)!

Stats
-----
Speed: ------6
Turn:  ---3
Jump:  ---3

My Opinion: I really have no comment on this snowboard. Use this if
you are real good at turning.

/----------------------\
|2.a.11>-Speed Board Lv.3|
\----------------------/
Obtained: See how to obtain all the other boards that are Lv. 2 and 3.

Stats
-----
Speed: --------8
Turn:  ---3
Jump:  ---3

My Opinion: See the Character/Board Combos List for information on
how to use this board properly. Once you find out, this board can be
very useful.

/--------------\
2.a.12|*OVERALL*|=====================================================
\--------------/
These are only good boards if you have mastered turning in the long
run. Otherwise, these boards will steer you instead of you steering
them if you don't use them properly.

//===_===_==\\
|===/ \ / \--\\=================\\
|==( 2 . b ) Hidden Snowboards =|
\\--\_/-\_/---------------------//
================
I bet you skipped the normal boards list so you could find out what
the hidden boards were (if you did, shame on you)! Anyways, here are
the hidden boards listed below. I went through the trouble of going
to my game and copying all the stats just for all of you to see them.
You better like them!

/--------------------\
|2.b.1>- Poverty Board |
\--------------------/
Obtained: By beating Sunny Mountain in first on Expert Mode and buying
it at the shop afterwards.
Price: 100 G
Special Feature: You will not be able to keep coins.

Stats
-----
Speed: ---3
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: What kind of idiot made up this stupid board? The stats
are nothing special and the special feature is too wierd! Maybe you
can trick a beginner who's new at this game and tell him the board
is the best one in the game.

Interesting Fact: Damien uses this board in Ice Land when he races
you, but he is still very fast when the speed of the board is only
3. Why? Go figure.

/-------------------\
|2.b.2>- Feather Board|
\-------------------/
Obtained: By beating Turtle Island in first on Expert Mode and buying
it at the shop afterwards.

Special Feature: Always has wings on and has a great jump.

Price: 5000g

Stats
-----
Speed: ------6
Turn:  -----5
Jump:  ----------10

My Opinion: This is probably the best board to use in the trick game.
You should take advantage of it's sub-par turning and tremendous jump
to win the trick game. Keep this board away from races!

/---------------\
|2.b.3>- Ice Board|
\---------------/
Obtained: By beating the Snowman Boss on Expert Mode and buying it
at the shop afterwards.

Special Feature: Great speed and worst turn in the game

Price: 1000g

Stats
-----
Speed: -------7
Turn:  -1
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: Do not use this board unless you make a bet with a
beginner player that you can beat him using this board or another
similar situation.

/----------------\
|2.b.4>- Star Board|
\----------------/
Obtained: By beating Wendy's House in first place on Expert Mode and
buying it at the shop afterwards.

Special Feature: No special feature, but it's a really good all-around
board. It's also my favorite hidden board.

Star Board: 150000g

Stats
-----
Speed: --------8
Turn:  -----5
Jump:  -----5

My Opinion: This is a great board and my personal favorite. It's best
for the trick game and races alike. A must-have board.

/----------------\
|2.b.5>- Rich Board|
\----------------/
Obtained: By beating Linda's Castle in first place on Expert Mode and
buying it at the shop afterwards.

Special Feature: The amount of coins you have will constantly grow
and you will never run out of money.

Stats
-----
Speed: -------7
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: This is only a good board if you are trying to unlock
the other boards in Expert Mode.

Interesting Fact: The Rich Board might be your best board to use in
unlocking the hidden boards. A good reason is because there are NO
coins on the courses in Expert Mode. The only other way you could
get coins on Expert Mode is if you perform enough tricks.

/------------------\
|2.b.6>- Dragon Board|
\------------------/
Obtained: By beating the Dinosuar Boss in Expert Mode and buying it
at the shop afterwards.

Special Features: Always has the rocket boost and wings active.

Stats
-----
Speed: ----------10
Turn:  -1
Jump:  ----------10

My Opinion: This is the fastest board in the game, but is flawed due
to its horrible turn.

Interesting Fact: This is the only board I haven't unlocked without
cheating (using the press-button code at the title screen). I have
the feeling the boss here is impossible to beat. ;_;

/-----------------\
|2.b.7>- Ninja Board|
\-----------------/
Obtained: By beating Starlight Highway in first place on Expert Mode
and buying it at the shop afterwards.

Special Features: User is always invisible

Stats
-----
Speed: -1
Turn:  -----5
Jump:  -----5

My Opinion: This seems like a nothing special board at first, but if
you can use it correctly, it can be a great board. When you figure out
how to use it right, your friends will freak out every time you pick
this board when you are playing against them.

Interesting Fact: When you use this board, you are invisible. But,
when you are invisible, you are invunerable to any attack except
ghosts, rocks, and scrooge rats.

/-----------------\
|2.b.8>- Charm Board|
\-----------------/
Obtained: By beating Haunted House in first place on Expert Mode
and buying it at the shop afterwards.

Special Features: You cannot be affected by ghosts

Stats
-----
Speed: -------7
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: I suggest this board if your favorite course is the
Haunted House. Other than that, it's a nothing-special board.

/---------------------\
|2.b.9>- High-Tech Board|
\---------------------/
Obtained: By beating the Damien Robot in Expert Mode and buying it at
the shop afterwards.

Special Features: Always has speed fan equipped

Stats
-----
Speed: ---------9
Turn:  ----4
Jump:  ----4

My Opinion: This is a good alternative to the Ninja Board (when used
correctly) and Star Boards. It's easier to control than the Dragon
Board, but not quite as fast.

If you are wondering, this is an exclusive feature to my guide only. The
list below pairs up the characters with the boards they work best with
and the ones they must avoid.

If you can recommend any good combinations, e-mail them to me with the
Subject "C/B C List" and the character type that best matches the board.

Notes:

Note 1: The ???? type will not be listed below on the combo list. This
is because there is only one ???? type. The only ???? type will be
listed below on the character type list only. Besides, I think the
only ???? type works just like an All-Around Type.

A: One of the following things could have happened:

* You mistyped my e-mail address

* You typed my one of my old e-mail addresses

* You didn't type the subject "Snowboards FAQ"

* There were too many misspellings and the message was unreadable

* You used bad grammar (Example: yo sup dawgs wats da ansur to da
kweshtun)

* It was a stupid question (Example: What game is this?)

* You asked about a game I've never heard of

* The question was in a foreign language

* I detected a virus in the e-mail

* It contained something sorta, kinda, remotely like SPAM

Q: There are hardly any questions to read! Why is this section so short?
A: Hello! I need questions! If you have one, send it!

I added checkboxes next to the names in the checklist if you think about
uploading this to your computer and wanting to use it as a checklist.
I suggest typing an X in the checkbox you want to fill if you do.

Version 1.0
May 14, 2004
Created and finished guide with everything except the snowboard prices.
If you know them, e-mail them to me!

Version 1.10
May 29, 2004
Added the checklist and game information to the guide. I'm still looking
for prices of Snowboards, though.

Version 1.12
June 10, 2004
Added ASCII text to the FAQ and added the version update because I had
forgotten to update the day before.

Version 1.14
June 18, 2004
Updated my FAQ to have my new e-mail address. I also added what system
this game is on for the game information list. Not much of an update to
me....;_;

Version 1.20
June 24, 2004
Added the review I sent for this game in case anyone wanted to know my
initial thoughts on it. I also added the information that my Walkthrough
for Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee was cancelled and replaced with an FAQ.

Version 1.23
July 14, 2004
I changed the format of some of the FAQ. I added the fact that the
Poverty Board costs 100 G and the Lv. 1 boards cost nothing. PLEASE SEND
ME THE PRICES OF THE OTHER BOARDS! IF YOU DO, I WILL PROPERLY CREDIT YOU
IN THE SPECIAL THANKS SECTION!

Version 1.25
October 10, 2004
I didn't update this much. I just wrote the fact that I no longer use
At&t and don't have an e-mail with them any longer.

Version 1.27
November 2, 2004
I changed my name in an update, but I'll keep the MegaSonicManZ2 ASCII
art at the end of my guide so people don't think this guide is different.
I also got hotmail now. I also added the prices of the Ice Board, Feather
Board and Star Board thanks to Techie854.

Version 1.3
September 9, 2007
Wow, it's been YEARS since I've updated. I've completely changed my user
name and everything. My email is different now. Send any FAQs to my
more recent email at [email protected]
