                              1.Introduction

This is my translation and guide for the Japanese only Pachinko game, Parlor Pro
64 Real Machine Simulation Game, released on the 29th of January 1999. It is
part of a long series of Pachiko simulators released by Telenet Japan. They
closed their doors in 2007 but they were best know for the VALIS and Tales of
Phantasia series of RPGs. The machines in this game are recreations of classic
machines by the Sanyo company, based in Osaka it is now owned by Panasonic.

Why did I write this? Well  mostly as a practice translation exercise. But also
because I want everyone to be able to play every N64 game and experience them as
if they were new. Making an actual translation patch for most games would be
unnecessary, but a guide would certainly help with most games.

The manual for this game is incredibly detailed, and quite hard to understand
unless you are familiar with pachinko. They go into a lot of detail about
specifics of each machine. This is to help you decide which machines are worth
playing the most.

The U.K. Publication, N64 magazine did not review this game, but they gave
another Pachinko game, Heiwa Pachinko 12%. From this you can see that these
games are
probably not worth playing, unless you are trying to complete every N64 game.
This is one of the 3 Pachinko games on the N64 and they are incredibly difficult
and tedious for non-pachinko fans to complete. I would rank this game as the
second best as it has less machines than Pachinko 365 Nichi.

Why does this game exist? It seems that people want to practice their Pachinko
at home too. I suppose the real “fun” in this game is gathering basic knowledge
about all the machines, then combining that with knowledge about how the parlors
operate and which machines are paying out the most. Then using that knowledge to
exploit the game and win as much as possible.

The probability rushing pattern, I believe, refers to the roulette or pictures
that show up in the middle of the game boards, when this results in a rush of
balls.

I hope this translation helps somebody complete this game. Its funny to think,
but this game has probably never been completed by anyone outside of Japan. Good

Experience walking around the parlors with money.
Using the detailed parlor and machine information, effectively win jackpots!

Reach Gallery – Experience a lot of Reach Action animations!
You can see and distinguish all types of reach patterns in this mode.
You can choose between each winning or losing reach patterns too.

There are several modes to choose from on the title screen as follows

                           Basic Controls

The number of balls you have remaining is shown in the top left. The power meter
and handle is shown in the bottom right.

A Button – Fire / stop firing balls
B – Borrows Balls, purchase cards if you have none.
D Pad / 3D Stick – Push it left and right to change the power.
D Pad / 3D Stick – Push it up and down to scroll between machines.
C Left – Switch between displaying the ball counter, time, and power meter.
C Down – Display the menu
L Button / Z Trigger – Zoom in
R Button – Zoom out
Start – Displays the number of continue wins and Jackpots

About saving.
You can make one save in each of the three modes with a Controller Pak or on
Cart saves. This game requires 24 pages to save.
To delete the saves on your controller pak, hold Start as you turn the system
on.
                              Strategy Mode

First select a machine to play. Once you have selected a machine an explanation
about it is displayed. If you press the A button you will start the game, if you
press Down C you will continue to the load screen.

If you press C Down whilst playing the menu will be displayed. These are the
following options, from left to right, top to bottom

Change the probability settings
You can change the probability that jackpots will occur.

Adjust the pins
First choose a pin using the 3D Stick or D Pad. You can then adjust the pins in
8 directions using the 3D stick or D Pad, whilst holding down C Left. Press C
Left again to return the pin to its original position.
If you press the A Button on the Pin adjustment screen you can adjust all the
pins at the same time. You can choose from Good, Normal, and Bad settings.

Real Battle data
All the play data from all the machines is displayed here. If you press C Left
on this screen you can adjust the money exchange efficiency of each machine.

Reach Data
The Reach and Jackpot data of each machine is displayed here.

Graph
Displays an easy to understand graph of the balls that have been released versus
the number of balls that have been fired.

Jackpot Design pattern
Displays the jackpot design patterns of all the machines. Normal jackpots are
displayed in green and future jackpots are displayed in blue.

Options
Whilst playing you can change any of the following settings.

The amount of balls to borrow
Changes the amount of balls you get when you borrow them. The default amount is
125 shots for 500 G.

Auto Zoom
Choose from 3 options; zoom in when you get a reach, full screen, and no zoom

Shooting blocker
When the hold light is on, it stops you firing pointless balls.

Reach blocker
When you get a Reach it stops you from firing pointless balls.

Ball Colour
Choose from 7 colours

Screen brightness

Round Cut
Skips the cut scene that plays when you get a jackpot.

Automatic Left shot
A useful feature. Only on CR Sparkling Paradise.

Save
Save all the data collected up to this point. Only in Strategy Mode.

Exit
Quit the current game to return to the machine selection screen. If you are
playing hall mode, you can select 換金 (exchange money) or 離席 (leave your seat).
Exchange money, exchanges your balls for money. Leave your seat means that your
seat will be kept for 1 in game hour. You can look at other machines data, and
go other parlors. When you leave your seat, a counter will be displayed to the
top right of the screen. When the counter reaches 0, any prize balls you had in
the machine will disappear. Please return to the machine before the counter
ends. Also, if you play any other machine while the counter is ticking down you
will lose the balls as well. Please be careful.

                              Hall Mode

(This is the story mode of the game.)
If you choose New Game (新しく始める) on the title screen you will start a new game.
If you wish to load a saved game choose 続きから始める.

This story begins when you take the entrance test to the Pachinko group that you
have long admired, the Suikoden (水滸伝 The Water Margin, named after the classic
Chinese novel, the name roughly means The Outlaws of the Marsh). As a pro, how
much money can you grab? Within 7 days the group will decide whether or not to
accept your application based on how much money you win! Choose a hall and the
machines, decide the time of your matches, collect and analyze information, and
enjoy playing this realistic action pachinko game!

(I can’t imagine that groups of Pachinko players exist in real life because
Pachinko is a Yakuza operation. The last thing they want to groups of people
systematically trying to exploit their businesses!)

Room Screen

This is the room where all your actions are decided. (And what a depressing room
it is! A gloomy box with nothing but a futon! No wonder you have forsaken your
life to gambling!) The money you currently have is displayed in the top left,
and the time in the top right. The options are as follows

Go Out – Go to the map screen to choose a parlor to play at
Change the Time – Advance the time as you desire
Sleep – Go to the next day
Status – Look at your current winnings and card balances
Save
Load
Quit – It will ask you if you wish to save before quitting. (セーブしない Don’t save)

On the map screen information about each hall is displayed at the bottom of the
screen, such as what machines they have, when they open and close, and what
their ball to money exchange rate is. You should loiter on the map in the middle
of the night! Something might happen! When you enter a hall, time will pass in
real time. Use the 3D Stick or D Pad to walk around the halls. To go to the
second floor, press the A Button in front of the stairs. You can also press the
A Button in front of the exit to leave the hall.

When you get close to a machine, its picture will be displayed in the bottom
left. Press the A Button to start playing, of course if another customer is
playing it, please play another machine until they leave. If you press the B
Button in front of a machine it will display its prize ball information. If you
press C Left in front of the machine you can look at the pins to see whether it
is a good machine to play. You cannot do this if another customer is already
playing the machine however.

In large halls information terminals will be set up. If you stand in front of
the machine it will ask if you wish to see the information. You can choose each
machine that is available and see the information about them. It will tell you
how many jackpots, the prize ball ratio, and how many continuous wins each
machine has had up till now. You can also rearrange the list to rank the
machines according to their payouts. Several icons will be displayed next to the
machines number. A blue seat means it is not being played by anyone, 777 means
it is currently giving out a jackpots, and an brown book looking icon means it
is in operation.

                               Reach Gallery

You can watch each machines Reach patterns in this mode. You can also watch
their winning and losing patterns. (I assume this is useful in determining when
you are about to win or lose at a crucial point in the game, or maybe its just
for entertainment?)

                                Sound Mode

You can set the in game sound here. These are the following options.
All sounds – None, small, middle big.
Pachinko machines music – None, small, middle big.
Pachinko machine Sound effects – None, small, middle big.

(I recommend you turn it all off. I actually could not imagine listening to
anything worse. If you have ever been to a pachinko hall you will know it is a
total cacophony of bells, clattering sounds and hundreds of machines playing
dumb midi music at the same time. They are so loud that most staff members wear
ear protection. I can only imagine that the loud setting is for insomniacs or
young babies to use as a static sleeping aid.)

The classic example of a Pachinko machine that has been providing excitement to
fans to Pachinko since it was released. It will still excite fans to this day,
as it is packed full of various Reach Actions and repeating combo probabilities!

Machine description
Between the two character faces is the hoop entry.
Under that is a mini digital display.
Under that is a blue liquid crystal display
Under that is a Start Checker
There are two attacks to the left and right at the bottom of the machine.

If prize balls enter the Start Checker, the liquid crystal display will start.
If the same patterns line up a jackpot will occur. The Attacker will open and
close at most, on the 16th round.

If you get the special pattern (see below) the jackpot probability will become
twice as high from now on. During this high probability, the rotation times of
the liquid crystal display and the mini digital display will reduce. If you line
up the special pattern again during this time, a new double jackpot probability
mode will start. When these double jackpot probability modes end, the the
rotation times of the liquid crystal display and the mini digital display will
reduce (The liquid crystal display rotates 100 times.)

Balls that enter the hoop, will follow the hoop routeand come out above the
Start Checker.

A machine featuring a beautiful liquid crystal display, with a fantastic
“swimming on the bottom of the sea” reach action. Even now it is still very
popular, it is the example machine of the CR Kenri (rights) series.

Machine Description
At the top of the screen above the circular liquid crystal display is a hoop.
To the right of the liquid crystal display is a revolving part
Under that is a “tulip” part
Under the liquid crystal display is a Start Chucker
Under that at the bottom center of the screen is a Kenri Attacker

After balls have passed through the Start Chucker the liquid crystal display
will start. If you get the same 3 patterns, a jackpot will occur (3 vertical or
2 diagonally). When the Kenri Attacker opens, prize balls will enter the V Zone
and be launched from the attacker. When they are in the attacker please shoot
them from the right. If you get the special pattern (see below) balls will be
launched from the Kenri attacker, until you get another jackpot the jackpot
probability percentage will become higher. During this time if you get another
special pattern a new Kenri pattern will continue to play. Balls that enter the
hoop will follow the route until they appear above the Start Chucker.

Following CR Mr Gen and CR Sparkling Paradise, Sanyo produced this new standard
of machine, it is number one! Various reach actions featuring characters each
with individual charms unfold again and again

Machine description
Under the title at the middle of the machine is a hoop
Under that is a mini digital display
Under that is a liquid crystal display
Under that is a Start Chucker
Under that is an Attacker

After balls have passed through the Start Chucker the liquid crystal display
will start. If you get the same 3 patterns, a jackpot will occur (3 vertical or
2 diagonally). The attack opens and closes for at most 16 rounds. If you get the
special pattern (see below) the jackpot probability will become twice as high
from now on. During this high probability, the rotation times of the liquid
crystal display and the mini digital display will reduce. If you line up the
special pattern again during this time, a new double jackpot probability mode
will start. This new double jackpot probability mode will continue 5 times. When
prize ball enter the hoop depending on the magnets they may enter the upper
stage, this means they have a high chance of being carried to the Chucker as
prize balls.
