Released on April 29th 2000, this is the 4th Powerful Pro Baseball game on the
N64, a series which began on the Super Famicom in 1994. The game requires 123
pages to save. It sold around 260,000 copies, much less than the previous game.
The game can connect with the Game Boy game Power Pro Kun Pocket 2 using the 64
GB Pak. You can move players from the Game Boy to the N64, but not the other way
around.
Along with 8 other modes, this game includes a story mode, called Successful
Mode, which was a feature that was first included in Powerful Pro 4. This time
the player has graduated from High School and college and is trying to become
professional player. It was based on the Success Mode for the Playstation game
Live Powerful Pro Baseball ’99 Opening Edition, which sold much better than any
of the N64 releases. The player can choose one of 4 companies to work for whilst
trying to achieve his dream, but he only has three years to do so. You can also
use your salary to buy better training equipment, but if you become bankrupt you
will be fired from the baseball team.
The manual for this game includes the results of the 1999 pennant competition;
you can use this to choose the best team for the main modes. Yes, Yakult is a
Japanese drink, and yes they own a baseball team.
As a Brit I know nothing about Baseball, so please forgive any errors in terms I
may make. It's even possible that some cricket terminology might accidentally
slip in instead, sorry gov'ner. The manual for this game is very similar to the
manual for the first 2 games on the N64 in terms of content, but the layout is
different. If you have read my other guides you can probably skim read this one
without missing much.
I would like to thank Ozidual. Without his hard work, this guide would not have
been possible. He has been tirelessly scanning and uploading Japanese N64 game
manuals at extremely high quality. He is also assisting in many N64 translation
projects and fixed the trophy glitch in Space Station Silicon Valley. I am very
grateful for your efforts towards preserving video game history.
