1.Introduction
This is the sequel to 64 Ozumo, released on March 19th 1999. The U.K.
Publication, N64 magazine reviewed the first game, giving it a very high score
of 90%. This bought the game to the attention of importers, and it became one of
the top import games back in the early days of the N64. The sequel was not
reviewed, however it is basically the same game, so it is likely it would also
have been given a high score. Although the game appears to be a fighting game,
it also feels a bit like a rhythm game, since you are mostly just prompting your
wrestler to perform a technique at the right time.
The game is also compatible with the rumble pak and the controller pak. 46 pages
are necessary for save data in this game. Compared to the first this game the
mini-games in the story mode of this game are more realistic. But this game has
a create a wrestler mode which makes wrestling a more interesting experience. In
both games you can fall in love and get married to various female characters.
The game features 47 wrestlers, 9 strange stages, 77 techniques, and 50
finishing moves.
There are two ways to win in sumo, throw your opponent out of the ring, or make
him touch the ground with any body part other than the soles of his feet. Most
sumo bouts are won and lost on the strength of the initial charge. Sumo has no
weight classifications, but a lighter wrester might defeat a heavier wrester
with superior technique. The official sumo organization recognizes 82 winning
techniques, illegal techniques also exist, if used they result in instant
disqualification. After the bout, wrestlers bow and the winner receives prize
money.
The first historically verifiable sumo matches were held in 642 at the court of
the Empress Kogyoku. By 1336 sumo bouts were being performed for the public to
enjoy. In 1578, the daimyo Oda Nobunaga held a 1,500 man sumo competition. Due
to the lack of space at his castle, the rings were drawn in a circular shape, a
tradition that continues to this day. After uncontrolled street sumo became a
public problem, The Japanese Sumo Association was created during the Edo period.
This is when many of the traditional customs were introduced, such as the belts,
the stable system, the referee and the entrance ceremonies. Controversially
women are not allowed to enter or touch the ring, due to Shinto and Buddhist
beliefs that women are impure.
Only former wrestlers may train new wrestlers. Their trainers give their
students official wrestling names. Most wrester's live in stables and endure a
highly controlled life of training and dieting. Despite how they may appear,
sumo wrestlers are extremely muscular. They are banned from driving, must wear
traditional Japanese clothes in public. They usually skip breakfast, eat a huge
meaty lunch with beer and then have a nap. Due to this extreme lifestyle most
wrestlers only live to age 60, much less than the general population. From 1998
to 2017 the grand title was held by non-Japanese wrestlers, leading the JSA to
step in and limit the number of foreign wrestlers.

4.The Basics of moving at the start of match
1 The warming up ritual.
Sumo matches start with a warming up ritual. Both sumo touch the ground with
both hands, and then rise from a crouch to begin.
Using the 3D stick push left or right to decide the position, backwards or
forwards of your wrestler. After this, use the C buttons to input an action. If
you press a C button when the referee shoutsはっけよい (both wrestlers have stopped
moving) or のこった (you are still in the ring!) then you can input a different
move.
2 Rising from the crouch
C Up C Down – Go around, left and right
C Left – Grab their belt
C Right – Strike their face
3 Normal techniques when rising from a crouch
When you are separated from your opponent
C Right – Slap your opponent
C Left – dive into your opponent
C Up C Down – Go around left or right
When you have grabbed your opponent
C Right - Approach
C Left – Let go of their belt
C Up – Under arm throw
C Down – Over arm throw
These techniques are also featured
Situational techniques
Techniques that can be performed in one fixed situation. I.e. at the edge of the
ring.
Special techniques
An individual technique to each wrestler. In story mode, each wresters has some
techniques beforehand and they slowly increase, they can be acquired by training
basic techniques. If you don’t wish to use a special technique, hold the Z
trigger and a normal technique will be performed instead.
Combo techniques
A continuous series of attacks which your opponent must endure.
Counter Attacks
Techniques that counter your opponent’s attacks.
Flowing Techniques
Techniques to use when you are separated from your opponent, and counter
attacks.
Predictive Techniques
Techniques which counter attack after defending and reading your opponent.
4 Leveling up and acquiring techniques
In this game, depending on how often you use techniques in matches, they will
level up. When they reach level 100, certain things will happen
-Their attack power may increase
-Any delays may decrease in time.
-Their speed may increase
From these three, only one will increase in level. The max level is 28.
Depending on the technique as they level up, other techniques may be acquired.
For example when some techniques become level 5 they will turn into new
techniques.
Advice for using techniques
Attacking
When you are grappling it is easy to input techniques. When you are separated
from your opponent and you use a special move, depending on the distance, the
technique will differ. Use Special attacks for grabbing when your opponent
stamina is in the red.
Defending
You can defend by pushing in the opposite direction of the technique on the 3D
Stick. For example if your opponent does a C Right technique, when the technique
starts you can defend by pushing left on the stick. You can also defend by
leaving the 3D stick in its default middle position. It is easy to counter
attack if you prepare to defend by predicting your opponent’s attacks.
Skills during grappling 1-5
If you try to do too many techniques, or take too many attacks from your
opponent, your Stamina gauge will decrease. Your wrestler’s expression and eyes
will change. When the ねばり gauge (persistence gauge) turns red, it will not
recover.
If you miss or your opponent defends, your stamina gauge will turn red and your
techniques may not be performed.
When you defend, if you push the stick in the wrong direction, any counter
attacks will do 1.5 times the damage.
When the opponent’s stamina is in the red push the C buttons to do special
techniques. At that time, if you read your opponent and feel they will do a
counter attack, press the R Button, whilst press the C Buttons to do a counter
attack if you perform a technique.
Whilst grappling and your opponent does a technique, it’s direction will be
displayed, so you know which direction to counter in.
5.Story Mode
When you start this mode, you will be asked to enter a name. Then you can choose
the appearance of your wrestler (body type, hairstyle, skin colour) and their

they will level up. You will gain new techniques, and you can level up your
power meter with 8 minigames. From the 15 rank, in the 5th division, aim for the
Yokozuna rank over 5 years in this mode! There are 6 competitions every year,
