H I N T S   A N D   T I P S (HT)
--------------------------------

You can hold down the button to either make the weapon stay out or
keep swinging it depending on the weapon.
Try using different weapons on enemies, some are invulnerable to other
weapons.
Do a spinning jump to reach high places.
Do a spinning attack to jump and get rid of an enemy on a ledge.
If you can't get past something, try breaking it with a weapon.

It has been so long...
So very long...

I have hunted evil for no less then a thousand years. Yet, I remember
well how this pain started... as though it were just yesterday

When my blood was warm, I was a great warrior. Neither man nor beast
could best me in mortal combat.

Then, in my arrogance, I said one day even death himself will bow
before my swords...

He smiled and said from a man of death from death himself, a wager.
If you win, eternal life is yours. If I win, you soul is mine to do
with as I wish. foolishly I accepted...

With sword and spell, we clashed toe to toe. The world trembled at
our unleashed powers.

I attacked with such fury and might, that even death himself was
taken aback, and then, incredibly, felled.

I toppled the master and he granted my reward. I am cursed to live
until all supernatural evil is destroyed.
I hunt...
and fight...
and kill,
until the end of my curse.

Only then will I be able to seek solitude and forever rest.

F I R E   D I M E N S I O N (FD)
--------------------------------
She is known as Elkenrod.
She once was a beautiful healer who cured the sick and soothed
those in pain. Now on the side of darkness, she feeds off the
pain and suffering of  her captives. The greater their suffering,
the more power she wields.
-----

FD: First Area
--------------

Start out killing the two ghosts that are by you. Head right and
jump over to the other side. Keep going right, jumping to the next
ledge, killing the bats that come. Jump up to the upper ledge.
Fall down the shaft.

There will be two pulleys. Jump onto the first one and ride it up
to the top.

(If you have the grappling hook, go right past the second pulley.
Jump right and you will find a false wall. Grappling hook over to
the platform and jump up. you will find 2 potions up there.)

There will be statues that spill lava from their mouths. Move when
the lava isn't there, and stop right in the center so they don't
hurt you. Keep going left. Jump onto the ledge and kill the bats
that fly at you.

Fall down, and into a little alcove. You will probably get hit
with some lava, but don't worry about it. Jump back up and keep
going left, killing the bats that fly at you. There is a hidden
wall to the left. Do not jump into it, but if you want to it will
land at the beginning.

Jump up and then jump to the left. You will land in a hidden spot.
Walk left to find two potions. Then go right. Go along the
corridor. There will be a shaft downward. Walk onto the first step
and hold your sword straight up. This will kill some bats that fly
down at you. Then go down. At the bottom there will be two ghosts
and a potion. Kill the ghosts, grab the potion, and then leave.

Go back to where the hidden room with the potions were. Jump up.
When you get to the top, bats galore will come after you, so just
stick out your sword and let them kill themselves.

Head left, and do a double jump and then slice in midair. you
should hit a ghost. Do it one more time, and then jump up onto
the ledge. Another ghost and a potion await you there.

Go back to where you jumped up, this time go right. Go along the
corridor. then there will be a shaft downward. Walk onto the first
step and hold your sword straight up. This will kill some bats that
fly down at you. Then go down. At the bottom there will be two
ghosts and a potion. Kill and grab and then leave.

Go back to where you came down from after getting the potion. Head
up there and then head right this time. Jump up the shaft and kill
the ghost at the top. Go to the left and jump up, avoiding the
lava-spewing statue. Head right, kill the ghost and fall down the
shaft. You will land on a pulley type thing. Point your sword up to
kill the bats flying at you while trying to dodge the lava. Fall
down below and head right and get onto the other pulley. Keep ding
that until you reach the end and find the Scythe.

FD: Second Area
---------------
Note: You need to have the Grappling Hook to finish this level.

Head right and kill some bats and a flying demon. Head right some
more, drop down and head left. Navigate your way down until you get
to an opening in the right wall. Jump over there, grab the potion
there and use the grappling hook to jump up. Stay to the right and
jump up to a little alcove there. There is a fake wall so get onto
the top skull and do a spinning jump to get up there. Then stay to
the left when you go down the other side. There is a flying demon,
make sure it doesn't hit you, otherwise you go plummeting to the
bottom. There will be a little glowing symbol at the end. Jump
there and end this crappy level.

FD: Third Area
--------------
Note: You need the Mallet to get most of the potions in this level.
They are just left or right of the huge shaft, so I won't take time
to mention how to get each individually.

Grab the potion that is right by you when you start. Head right and
jump onto the platforms there. Head up. Keep going up until you see
an alcove you can go in to the right. Head in there. Hit the
grappling hook thing and jump right into a fake wall. Ride the
elevator up to the top and head left.

It lives in the sea of fire...
The sea of lava...
It feeds apon the earth leaving behind the stench of burning flesh.
It is the last of its kind and must be destroyed.
It's time has come...

FD: Fourth Area
---------------

Head right. Jump two platforms and kill the fire demon that comes out
of the statue. Jump up there and then Kill two more flame demons.
Jump up two platforms and the head right. Go to the right of that ledge
and fall down. You will land on a ledge below. Make a jump to the right
and you will land on a stature head. Kill another flame demon.

Head up and stay on that rock killing more flame demons. Wait until
a flying platform falls down the lava. Jump over there, and then jump
again to the far ledge. Walk off the edge and you will land on a
statue thing. Kill more flame demons and jump right when you see
another platform falling down the lava. Jump onto that, and then jump
right some more to land on another statue.

Jump up onto a floating platform in the lava and then jump onto the
second one. Wait for a lava falling rock and jump onto that. Jump up
those platforms and then head right. You will get two potions. Go
back down and make a small jump to the other floating platform. Fall
through the statues on the right side. and then when you get to the
third one, jump a little bit right.

You will land on some floating platforms. Some of them move and some
are stationary. Make your way right killing flame demons as they appear
so they don't knock you into the lava. Jump up to the right when you
reach the end, and then just hit the little symbol to end this level.


FD: Fifth Area
--------------

Jump to the upper ledge to the right. walk along there and then jump to
another platform with a potion on it. Jump back and then jump up. Jump
onto the platform with no flame. Head left until you see a potion grab it
and head right. Keep heading right dodging the flames and you should
receive two potions.

Fall through the platforms and you will land on a slope. Head up killing
flame demons and lava riders. When you come to a split, take the upper
way. Keep heading up and then right to receive a potion.

Drop through two levels and some flame demons will attack you. Kill
them and jump right. Then you should see a tip of a potion to the left.
Jump down there and get it.

Head right and then jump up the sloping platforms until you see some
floating ones to the left. Jump there and then jump left again for a
potion. Head right then, and go past the symbol for another potion.
Then leave this place.

FD: Sixth Area
--------------

Head right avoiding flames and killing demons. Jump to the right and
you will land on a platform. Head right and you should see the tip of
a floating rock. Jump down there and kill some flame demons. Make
your way left. Jump onto the statue and then fall through it until you
get to the bottom one. Make your way right like you did earlier. jump
down at the end, and had left dodging flames and demons along the
way. Then fall down the at the end. You will land on a platform. Jump
left onto the statue there and then stand near its head. Fall through it
and you should land on a platform. Head right.

Boss Fight - Dragon
-------------------

Use the scythe for this boss. When it shoots its fireballs, walk a little
bit to avoid being hit. Then as it charges you, smack it with the
scythe. It should fall to the ground. slice it again and then back over.
Repeat until it bites the big one. I got hit less jumping after I dodge
the fireballs and then doing a slash. That hits the dragon and stops
the charge.


E A R T H    D I M E N S I O N (ED)
-----------------------------------
Her hive is growing... burrowing deeper and deeper into the earth.
And as her children are born, her power grows stronger.
Nothing can stop me from reaching her lair.
I am coming for you now, Spider Queen
-----

ED: First Area
--------------

Start out by jumping right, and then head right on that column.
There will be a small tunnel. At the end will be a potion waiting
for you. Now head left and fall down the shaft.

Head right. There will be some things hanging from the ceiling.
When they stick out a tentacle, slice it and it will retract
allowing you enough time to walk past it. Do the same to the next
one.

Keep going right killing the spiders that fall down from the
ceiling. When you reach the end, jump up on the ledges. Jump to
the left when you have the chance, and make your way left. You
will be in a very long corridor with a lot of those tentacle things
and a few spiders. At the end will be a potion. Head back to the
corridor.

Head up again. Then go left again. Deal with the tentacle things and
then jump over to the other side. Walk down the long corridor
killing some spiders along the way.

Fall down the shaft and then jump back up to the left. There will
be another potion for you. Head back down, dealing with two tentacle
things while heading right.

Boss Fight - Spider
-------------------

Just stand facing her with your sword pointing to her. She will ram
herself into your sword and then back off, leaving unharmed. Stay
like that until she hits herself 12 times. Corner her against the
little lip to the left and it will go by quicker. Head to the right
and grab the Axe.

ED: Second Area
---------------
Note: It really helps to have the Flying Boots Potion Combination

Slice the thing to the left of you with a weapon. That will make it
explode allowing you to pass. Now, Head left. Jump up onto the
little ledge. Keep jumping and then head left when you reach the top.
Jump left to the three sided ledge. Then jump left again. Keep
heading left until you hit a wall. Head up that wall and then head
right. Keep jumping platforms until you reach a dead end. Fall down
the shaft there. Deal with the tentacle things and head left. Fall
down again.

Boss Fight - Dragon Creature
----------------------------

Simplest method seems to be standing on one of the side ledges,
letting himself ram into your blade. Then let go of the B button
but quickly press it again. He will continuously charge at you, but
back off after he gets hurt.  Let him ram into your sword 18 times
and he will die.

ED: Third Area
--------------

This stage is pretty easy to get through. Just head to the bottom
right of the stage, and you will fight the Queen Spider.

Boss Fight - Queen Spider
-------------------------

Get her against the wall. Stand away so that when she walks toward
the wall, she is out of your screen. Keep swinging the Axe, and she
will just keep hitting herself. 12 hits and she's gone.

Within the core of this plane dwells a creature of destruction.
Like a cancer, this evil eats away at the heart of it's host...
It is like a living planet and can of any and all intruders.
I must travel swift and light to reach its hidden brood.

WD: Fourth Area
---------------
Note: You need either the grappling hook or the high jump combo
to past this level.

(If you have the high jump combination, use it and then fall down
when you start. Go right into an alcove and then you will get a
potion. Jump back up with the high jump and continue on)

Use the grappling hook to jump the ledge and head right. There
will be some flowers. Roll past them when they are not shooting
pollen at you. Jump up and grab the two potions there and then
keep going right. Use The mallet to kill the little maggots and
the bigger ones. You need to hold up and then make a half-circle
forward to hit the little ones. Drop through the ledge. Keep
heading down dodging the plants. You will eventually fall a long
ways down. To the right is the end, but there are two more potions
you can collect. Head left, and then down into a cave. Kill some
maggots there and grab the potion in the middle. Head back and
this time jump up. Then jump to the right with either the high
jump or the grappling hook (Grappling hook works better)and grab
the potion on the far right. Then head out.

WD: Fifth Area
--------------
Note: You need the Invisibility combo to get past this area.

Head to the right, grapple onto the spike and then jump right.
Kill the maggots and keep going right. You will eventually land
on a little branch. Don't jump up and go right, a huge maggot
will grab you and bring you to the start. Fall through the branch
and go left. Fall down there and head right. Kill some maggots
and dodge some flowers to grab a potion at the end. Head back up
and go right. Keep going right and grapple as needed. Make sure
not to fall or you will die. Jump onto the last branch you can see
and then use the Invisibility combo. The huge maggot cannot get
you, so walk all the way right to get a potion. The go back left
a ways and jump up. Then head right and fall down a shaft to end
the level.

WD: Sixth Area
--------------

This level will be extremely annoying. You have to dodge a lot
of those huge maggots from taking you back to the beginning.
Having an invisibility potion combo will make things MUCH easier.
I suggest you have one. Otherwise you need to find a path where
the maggots do not appear when you go over a certain terrain.

Head left as you start. You will fall down a huge shaft. Go right,
jump up onto a ledge and then a branch with the grappling hook.
Head right some more until you come to a hook. fall down below the
hook and go right. Fall down at the end and keep heading right.
Jump up the tree branches and then head right. When you see a
clearing, immediately jump up, do a spinning jump and use the
grappling hook. You will hook onto a branch. Stay there until
the huge maggot leaves and then fall all the way down.

W A T E R   D I M E N S I O N (WD)
----------------------------------
From the blackness of the deepest ocean it came.
The one called Mantis brought its evil army and built itself a
fortress to protect itself from me.
It has wasted its time.
My swords shall taste your evil blood.

WD: First Area
--------------

Head to the right, jumping on the columns. There will be a potion
for you on top of a high column. Then a little bit further right is
another potion on a small column. Keep going right until you see an
iguana. Kill it. If you have a High Jump combination, use it and
jump up to the high ledge. There will be another potion for you.
Head back down and then to the right some more. Kill another iguana
and keep going. When you see another potion on a high up ledge,
jump up there and grab it. Head down and right again. Grab the
potion up above...again. Head back down and kill an iguana. Head to
the left, jumping on the columns. There is potion on top of a
platform. Jump over there and grab it. Head back down again, and
kill an octopus.

Boss Fight: Octopus

Pretty easy. Just keep smacking him with your sword. as you deal
damage, some of his tentacles will fall of. Keep slicing him until
he is dead.

Head to the right more, and when you see some seaweed, jump up again
onto the ledge and grab another potion. Keep going along that ledge
for another potion. Then head back down, slice the seaweed, and grab
the Grappling Hook.

WD: Second Area
---------------
Note: You need the Grappling Hook and the High Jump spell. You also
get only 1 potion through this level potions in this level. So go
ahead and speed on through it if you don't mid missing a potion.

Cast a high jump spell, head left and jump up to the higher level.
Keep jumping up. Use the grappling hook when you have to. When you
see a big green thing making a very annoying sound, head right. In
a little alcove will be a potion for you. Then use the grappling
hook to jump on up. Keep going up until you see an octopus. You
don't have to kill this one, but Jump up again, and you will have
to kill that one to end the level.

WD: Third Area
--------------
Note: You need the Grappling Hook.

Keep heading left until you find some seaweed. Jump up and hit the
fish's head with a weapon. Go back down and cut the seaweed. Hit
the middle door while there is a picture of a spider on it and you
will get two potions. Then a huge Mantis will come down.

Boss fight - Mantis
-------------------

Extremely easy. Go down to the bottom-right corner. Make sure you
can hit him but he doesn't hit you. Whip out the grappling hook
and hold it out. Let him take a beating for a while and then watch
him die.

The tundra beast...
It absorbs warmth and light from the inhabitants of earth.
It uses evil powers for the coming of the dark age so that only
the cold blooded will live.
Now it is your turn ice beast.
-----

ED: Fourth Area
---------------

Head right, sliding along. When you come to the end. Jump to the
right. Then jump back to the left, only a little lower. Keep going
left until you hit the end. Fall down and hold right. You will land
on a cliff. Head right again, sliding and jumping to get to the end.

ED: Fifth Area
--------------

Head right and break the  floor with your hammer. Head down and
kill two iguanas. Then head right breaking nothing until you reach
some water. Ride the platforms to the edge. Head right until you
hit a dead end. Fall down the shaft and then break the floor there.
Fall down and then down again. You will have to jump some pillars
with ice on them and deadly rocks in between. At the end ride the
floating ice blocks to the end. Head left and jump through the
pillar there. You will end up on the other side.  Keep going and
then fall down to some more ice block fun. Then use the grappling
hook to jump over to the end.

ED: Sixth Area
--------------

Immediately hold your sword and a downward angle to kill a monster.
Then go right and then left. Jump and hug the left wall.

Have some more fun with ice blocks and then jump up using the
grappling hook at the end. Kill the two iguanas and then use the
grappling hook again. Go up and to the right. When you see a gap,
roll off of it. You will land on the other edge. Kill the iguana
there and keep going right. Fall down the hole and go left. Fall
down and kill the iguana. Break the floor with your mallet and
hole right. You will land on a platform. Use the pulleys to get
over to the end.

Boss Fight - Mother Iguana
--------------------------

For this one you need to brush up on your dodging skills. It
will swim by you about 4 times. Jump over it. Then it will do
a series of three attacks. A laser from its eyes, duck to avoid
it. Then it will raise its arm up in two spots. One close to its
body and one far from its body. Then it will do the last attack,
it will send little spikes from its back to home in on you. You
can only hit it during its third attack phase, so wait until it
goes down after its second attack and swing. It will stop its
third attack. It appears in only one place to do its attack
phase, so just stand about a character length away from the twin
waterfall on the right side and you should be fine. Keep doing
that until it dies.



A I R    D I M E N S I O N (AD)
-------------------------------
The Dragonfly King has lived for millions of years.
It hails from a prehistoric time when life on Earth was ruled
by its kind.
Now it is trying to regain the Earth as its kingdom.
Enjoy your time, Dragonfly King.
For this is your last day.

AD: First Area
--------------

Head up and stay to the left. There will be a purple beast in a
little alcove. Stand on the edge holding out your weapon. He
won't be able to hit you. After he dies grab the two potions
that come from his body. Get back up on the ledge and to a jump
to get up to the rock hanging in midair. Then jump to the next
one, and fight another rock-throwing monster. Do the same
strategy and grab the potions that come from him again. Break
open the gate and grab the hammer.

AD: Second Area
---------------

Grab the potion that is sitting on the ledge and break the door
open with the axe. Head up on the pulleys, staying in the middle.
When you get to the top, you will meet a purple demon, but this
time he only has a flail. Do the same strategy and he won't hit
you. After you kill him, you have beaten the level. Easy huh?

AD: Third Area
--------------

Boss Fight - Purple Dragon
--------------------------

I found it easiest to use the Grappling hook. When he comes
after you, have your Grappling Hook out so he rams into it. He
will fly the other direction. Then hop to another platform and
turn to where he is coming and hold out the Grappling Hook. Do
that over and over again until you reach the last pillar. When
he starts charging at you, just duck and stay ducked with the
grappling hook. He will fly by, the sword will miss you, but the
grappling hook will hit him even when you're not swinging it.
Just keep doing that until he dies.

Dark riders on winged beasts block my way to deaths realm.
Let no man bar my path, lest he meet his maker.
Neither flesh nor electricity shall hinder me.

AD: Fourth Area
---------------

Go into the alcove to the right and then lead one of the riders
out into the open. Kill him and take his flying beast. Ride that
throughout the whole area. Watch out for lasers and people with
machine guns. Fly All the way up until you can't anymore, then
head right. Head up again, then left. There's the exit.

AD: Fifth Area
--------------

Head right and kill another rider. Grab the beast and head up.
Then head left. Go under the last laser and head up again. Go
right and then up hugging the right wall, but make sure you go
left before you hit that little lip in the wall or you will fall
of your ride. head left, and then up, left right, and then up.
Get of your synard and go left. At the end will be the exit.

AD: Sixth Area
--------------

Jump right, and keep going until you fight another rider. Kill
it, get its ride and fly up and the left. Fly up and then right.
Head all the way right and then up again. Head to the left.

Boss Fight - Synard Rider
-------------------------

This guy is hard as hell. You must be on a Synard to fight this
guy, otherwise he will just hover and do nothing. And he fly's
away when you get close to him. you have to wait until he pats
his synard, then he charges with that three-pronged lance. It
has a longer range then any of your weapons, so a joust isn't a
good idea. While he's flying backwards, hover down and then
hold up to slice him. Or you can try to use the Grappling Hook by
keeping it out and hoping he hits that instead of both of you
colliding. After a good amount of hits, he will loose his lance
and his synard will charge at you with it's tail. Do the same
thing as before. He will finally fall. If anyone has a fail-proof
plan for killing this guy, send it in.


E N D I N G   T E X T (ET)
--------------------------

It is quiet...
All too much time has passed since my first meeting with Death...
and I am weary.
I have rid the elemental and terrestrial plains of evil and await my reward.
It would seem all darkness has been destroyed...
Only now may I seek my rest eternal.


S  E  C  R  E  T S,   C  O  D  E  S,   A  N  D     C  H  E  A  T  S (SCC)

Skip the first 4 stages

You can do this trick in practice, easy and hard modes. Try
the practice mode because you get unlimited potions. Start the
game, then walk right and down stairs onto the platform.
Continue right until you reach a small floating platform. Jump
onto the platform and use the potion for a portal (right side
group of potions - bottom left one). It is the only potion you
can use from the choices. When you use the potion, it will make
a thunderous sound. Once you do this, you will have access to
all the weapons, and be able to go to every level, even the last
four stages.

One of the keys to winning is knowing these recipes.

Cheat Mode
Hold C + Start on controllers one and two and power on the
Genesis. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Enter one of
the following controller actions to enable the corresponding
effect.

Press Up, Down, Left, Right on controller two at the alchemy screen.

All potions
Press Start, A, B, C on controller two at the alchemy screen.
