Yu-Gi-Oh started as far as I know as a manga. Little Yugi Motou was a little
guy that was not really popular at all at school, his only friend then being
Anzu (Tea) . But then he completed a gift from his grandpa, the Milenium
puzzle which granted any wish to the one finishing it. From then, he began to
develop a second darker personnality. Although not evil, it was challenging the
bad guys threatening Yugi and his friends to (usually dangerous) shadow games
and when they lost, the "other" Yugi was punishing them for the bad stuff they
done. After some time, the story take a new turn when some guy at school stole
Yugi most precious and rare card back then, the Dark Magician. It was the first
duel with Kaiba. : ) He cheated back then! : D

Anyway, in that video game, you must defeat all opponents five time, gaining
cards in the process. There are monster cards that attack other monster or the
player life points. There are also magic cards that have many effects,
depending of the cards. Some of them are specialised for boosting monsters's
strenght. There are trap card triggered by your opponent that can help to
defend yourself, screw your opponent or both of them. Finally, there are ritual
cards that allow you to sacrifice three monsters for replacing by a really
strong monster (hopefuly!). In this game, you must sacrifice monsters for
putting in action the strongest monster cards. There is also a attack and
an defense mode for monsters. The attack mode allow you to attack other
monsters, destroying them, or the player, lowering his life points. However,
a monster defeated while in attack mode will result in a loss of life point for
the player who lost the monster. The defense mode do not allow monster to
attack but you do not suffer damage if the monster is destroyed in that mode.
Another feature of that game is the fusion. Put two cards on top of each others
and if the combination is valid, they will fuse. Otherwise, you will lose a
card in the process. Fusion allow you to get stronger monsters during the
battle. If you want to experiment with fusion, I recommend to begin with Dragon
or "Women/Girl" cards as they are very versatile in that domain.
I could continue talking about the game but that is not the main purpose of
that guide. Still, if you want more info on this game, I suggest you to look
the other guides in Gamefaqs which in my opinion have been done well. (You got
this guide from Gamefaqs, right?) You can also go to Gamefaqs's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark
Duel Stories board and ask question to the other players. Although now they
aren't many much people now on the Yu-gi-oh Dark Duel Stories board, they
should be able to help you.
The main purpose of this guide is to show what card does a person drop in the
game. Although I can't guaranty that this guide contain all the card dropped
in the game (well, actually I'm sure it doesn't right now! ^-^;;; ), it will
allow you to find many good or popular card like Blue Eyes White Dragon,
Exodia,Red Eyes Black Dragon, Jirai Gumo, Summoned Skull, Pot of Greed,
Raigeki, Dark Hole and of course the almighty Kuriboh! ^-^
But before I begin, I must tell you that it's not impossible that some mistakes
may have slipped away in this guide. Not much but still, if someone doesn't
gives you a card, then maybe it's better to try and get it from someone else.
Another thing is that some of the real good stuff usually takes a lot of time
to get,like the Red Eyes Skull Dragon or the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Be
ready for lot of duels!
Also, English is NOT my first language, so you might find some typos too.
Still, the guide is pretty reliable IMHO (in my humble opinion).

Special note :
At first, your opponent will be Yami Yugi but if you enter special password,
he will be replace by others opponents. Since I don't know how you are supposed
to get those passwords, I'll be nice and write it next to the name of each
duelists. Anyway, the password duelists become available as soon as you defeat
Nightmare.
You don't get to duel Yugi's Grandpa in that game. Consider yourself lucky! : D
However, each time that you get a card from a duelist, he will gives you one
too. If you want to collect cards, use his password ASAP.
That section is the most incomplete (aside from Yami Yugi, Yugi's Grandpa and
Shadi). Feel free to contribute! ; )
