Hello, my name is DeepFriedBurger and this is the complete guide to
a little GBC game called Shrek: Fairytale Freakdown. While this game
is certainly not very good, you may own it and be trying to beat it
and that's a good thing because, in the end, it's just a game and it
could be way worse.

Glad you asked. Shrek: Fairytale Freakdown is a fighting game
released for Game Boy Color by TDK Mediactive in 2001. There's not
much else to say.

#1: When i purchased the game, it was second-hand and did not come
with an instruction booklet. Because of this, info on the move list

A. How gameplay works

Being a fighting, game Shrek: Fairytale Freakdown follows two rules:
Beat the opponent to death and don't get killed! Other that that,
there's not a lot else to the game. Moving on!
B. Characters

All of these characters are playable (although three of them must
be unlocked) and fight each other once in the game:
* Shrek (surprise surprise)
* Big Bad Wolf
* Pinocchio
* Ginger Bread Man
* Monsieur Hood
* Princess Fiona
* Dragon
* Thelonius
* Lord Farquaad
If you are thinking "Where's Donkey?!", then the answer is that he
is not a playable character. His head appears in certain menus and
screens but that's it.
NOTE: If you end up fighting yourself, an arrow will appear above
you.

These are the basic controls for gameplay.

D-PAD LEFT/RIGHT ---- Walk left/right/block
D-PAD UP ------------ Jump

START ------ Pause game
Double tap LEFT/RIGHT to run.
Addionally, press A+B+START+SELECT to reset to the TDK logo
screen. This does not just apply to gameplay and can be used
anywhere.

Each character has a few additional moves that can be used by
pressing certain button combinations together.
Lord Farquaad

These are unlocked as you progress through the game. You
can use them under the listed conditions and you are on
1/2 health (the P icon will flash).
INVINCIBILITY ----------- D-PAD DOWN, D-PAD DOWN, A, B

SPEED ------------------- D-PAD DOWN, FORWARDS, A, B
(Requires 1, 500 points score)

INVINCIBILITY makes you temporarily invincible.
SPEED makes you walk and attack faster.
OGRE STRENGTH makes your attacks stronger.
E. HUD

From left to right.
YOUR SCORE: How many points you've scored. Earn points by
attacking the opponent.
YOUR HEALTH: How much health you have remaining. If you lose
all of your health then you lose the battle and will be taken
to a briefing screen and can try again. (You have infinate
lives).
OPPONENT'S HEALTH: How much health your opponent has remaining.
If they lose all of it then you win the battle and can continue
to the next.
F. Language Select

After booting up the game you'll see a few logos, then this.
Use the D-PAD to highlight and the A/B buttons to select the
perferred language. Presumably, you'll want English or American.

Press the START button to go to the main menu.
H. Main Menu

Use the D-PAD to highlight and the A/B buttons to select an
option.
H.A. Start Game

Begin the game. You'll be taken to the character select and then
the game will begin. See section 3 for a walkthrough.
H.B. Password

Enter a password. Use the D-PAD to highlight a letter and the A
button to add it to the password. Once entered, press A. The
effect will occur if correct, or you'll get an error screen if
incorrect. You can press B to exit any of these screens. See
section E for passwords. You will recieve a password after
each battle.
H.C. Practice

You'll be taken to the character select screen and can then
battle various stages from the normal mode at random, except the
opponent will not attack. His health also regenerates if left for a
few seconds without you attacking.
H.D. Options
::--::--::--::--::--::
Despite what it the menu is titled, there is only one options. It
allows you to select the game difficulty by pressing the D-PAD LEFT/
RIGHT. The avalable choises are EASY, MEDIUM, or HARD. These only
effect how much damage is taken for certain attacks. Press the A
button to exit and save your changes or the B button to exit and
reset the difficulty to MEDIUM.
I. Character Select

This appears when you select either START GAME or PRACTICE from the
main menu. Here you select your character to play as. Use the D-PAD
LEFT/RIGHT to highlight a character, A/B to select, or SELECT to go
back to the main menu. Three of these characters cannot be selected
and are displayed as a ? until you unlock them - because they're
unlockables.
J. Briefing Screens

Before and after a stage, there are some briefing screens either
showing what stage you are on, who your opponent is or who won the
fight. Just press A/B to continue.
K. Pause

This screen appears when the game is paused. Press START to continue
with the stage or press SELECT to return to the main menu.

This section details the game's stages in order, who you fight,
and how to beat them.
A. The Forest

YOU -VS- BIG BAD WOLF
This one is simple. The wolf usually waits for you to attack him,
and occasionally jumps over the gap to death. If he does this,
you'll have to jump over too in order to attack him and/or for him
to move elsewhere.
B. The Village

YOU -VS- PINNOCHIO
Again, quite simple. Pnnochio may jump onto the ledge to the right.
If so, then just jump up too in order to attack him and/or to get him
to move.
C. The Dungeon
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
YOU -VS- GINGER BREAD MAN
In my opinion, this is the hardest battle in the game. The GBM keeps
jumping around and when he's standing still he fires a gumdrop at you
which is hard to see. It may take some time, but when he's on the
ground, try and jump kick into him. Same applies for when he's in the
air. Good luck!

A reasonably easy battle against Shrek. Just button mash and you
should win.

E. Dark Forest

YOU -VS- MONSIEUR HOOD
This one can be hard. Hood begins on the other side of a death gap
and can fire an arrow at you. Jump over to attack him and/or get him
to move, then hop for the best.
F. Bridge

YOU -VS- DRAGON
Easy. Just follow and button mash the Dragon while avoiding the death
gaps.
NEW FIGHTER UNLOCKED: THE DRAGON
POWER UP UNLOCKED: OGRE STRENGTH
G. Castle

YOU -VS- PRINCESS FIONA
Quite hard. Try and hit her as often as possible, but watch out for
the death gaps.
H. Wrestling Ring

YOU -VS- THELONIUS
Button mash into him so that he can't react in a serious way. You
can access outside and stand on the ropes of the ring.
I. Mirror Room

YOU -VS- LORD FARQUAAD
The not-so-grand-finale! This is so easy that it makes The Forest
look hard. Just button mash. Farquaad will occasionally attack but
these attacks do little to no damage.

GRAPHICS= 3
They look alright. Other games have done better, but there's nothing
bad about them.
MUSIC= 2
Some of it's bad, although I do quite like the theme for the "The
Village" area.
GAMEPLAY= 3
Just like any other fighting game really, as well as any other
fighting game on the GBC.
LONGEVITY: 1
Cn be beaten in under 10 minutes with practice.
OVERALL (Not based out of 5)= 9 (collectively)
