----------
This is a FAQ for NBA Showtime:NBA on NBC for the Sega Dreamcast console.
It is an arcade style Basketball game for 1-4 players.Think NBA Jam in
3D.In this FAQ I will have the correct answers to the Trivia questions
asked at the end of the games.Each time you answer a question right you
get trivia points.I am not sure if you get anything special for having a
certian amount.If anyone does email me and proper credit will be given.

4/20/2001-Ver.2.2
Wow, It has been almost a year since my last update. If that isn't a big
enough indication let's just say this FAQ is dead. I have a lot less free
time and as such am unable to update this FAQ. I haven't even played the
game since the last update. All of the info I have on the game is
contained within this FAQ. Due to this fact I can no longer answer
questions on this game. If it isn't in my FAQ I do not know the answer.
Please do not send any emails on this game. Sorry for any inconvience this
has caused but I don't want to waste either of our time.

I've been quite busy and as such have not had time for updates. Things
don't look too much different in the immediate future either. So unless

do not have time to play and as such am unable to answer questions sorry.

I really should update this more but I simply have been really busy and as
such have not had time.Well,I have recieved numerous emails about it so I
decided to finally update it.Due to the lack of updates I have gotten
many emails regarding missing things from my FAQ.If you submitted
something but it is credited to someone else that is because the other
person sent it first.Added a few things to the tips and FAQ sections.
Also fixed up submission info.

Added 1 trivia question.I know it is a small update.I just wanted everyone
to know that I am still updating.I have just been extremely busy.I have
been getting numerous emails regarding a move where the computer throws
the ball against the backboard and then they dunk or their teamate dunks
it.I have no clue how to do this.If someone knows please email how so I
can put it on my FAQ.Check the info section for info on submitting.
Expect a bigger update when I am less busy.

_General Tip_
To become "on fire" simply make 3 baskets in a row.While on fire you
get infinte turbo and an increased chance that shots will make it in.
_General Tip_
Don't let the opposing team score when you are on fire.If they do you lose
the privilidges of being on fire.
_General Tip_
Find your Hot Spot and abuse it.There is almost a 99.9% chance that you
won't miss if you shoot from your hot spot.It appears after you make 2
succesful shots from it's location.You can tell you've hit your hot spot
because the ball turns purple in the air.
_General Tip_
Don't be greedy with the ball.Pass it to your cpu drone every now and
then.If not thee opposing team will only go after you.
_General Tip_
Don't become over confident.Even if you are winning by a lot of points in
the begining the computer wil make it even by any means nessecary.It
seems as though you miss every shot and they make every shot.Not too
mention they push a lot and always steal the ball.
_General Tip_
You can spin past defenders.It is a move I find myself doing all the time.
Just double tap turbo when in possession of the ball.
_General Tip_
When you have the baal and your teamate is in the air flashing,pass.
_General Tip_
You can push but don't abuse it.To push hold turbo and press pass.
_General Tip_
Don't push too much.Each time you push you recieve a Foul.After 5 fouls
the opponent gets a freethrow shot worth 3 points!
_General Tip_
Watch out for the shot clock.If you don't shoot within 24 seconds the
other team gets the ball.
_General Tip_
At the tip off there is a jump meter next to your player.Whichever
players is higher gets the ball.To help just hold turbo and press shoot.
It will raise the meter.
_General Tip_
Created players are usually weaker then normal players.To remedy this
play a lot of games.After 3 games you get two more attribute points.
_General Tip_
Don't waste your turbo.Save it for when you get near the basket.
_General Tip_
Don't try to spin around opponents if your dribble attribute is low.
_General tip_
To check your attributes at any time during the game simply look at your
VMU screen.It lists all of the attributes.
_Help I forgot my name and pin for my created player!_
Turn the dreamcast on with the lid open and VMU in.Go to file.Pick the
slot that your VMU is in.Look for the NBA Showtime:NBA on NBC data.The
data that takes up two is a created player.If you look at the description
of the data it gives you the name and pin.This is good if you forget.
Just don't let your friends peek ro they can get the name and pin too.
_What is the dribble attribute for?_
It makes you better at using the spin move(double tap turbo).
_General Tip_
Only go for 3 pointers if you are open.
_General Tip_
Remember when you are on fire you have infinite turbo.Use it!
_General Tip_
If the end of the game is somewhat close,don't go for 3 pointers.Stick to
Dunks.
_General Tip_
Another good thing to remember when you are on fire is that your shots
have an increased chance of going in.What this means is go for the three
pointers!

Don't underestimate the cpu.Even if you are winning by 20 points don't
get careless.
_Flashing Title Screen_

The flashing screen is a Screen saver.
_General tip_
I did this when playing NBA Jam and it worked.It also appears to work
here.When shooting a three pointer hold the shoot button until you reach
the top of your jump.I think the shot has A higher percentage of going
in when you do this.
_Pump fake_
To pump fake simply tap the shoot button quickly.You can fake out the
cpu like this.But remember once you do this you stop dribbling.So you
have to either pass it or shoot it.

Because it is NBA Jam.Midway lost the name NBA Jam to Acclaim.
_Are there still all those wacky secret characters?_
Yes.You can be mascots,aliens, horses and even game designers!
_Is there a Create-A-Player mode?_
Yes.
_Is the Create-A-Player mode exstensive?_
Somewhat.You get to choose the players head,uniform,number and edit his
attributes.You can also choose two special privalidges like Big Head
and Court select.
_Is there any way to get more attribute points?_
Yes.Win three games.
_Can you still become "On fire"?_
Yes just like the original.
_Are the outragous dunks still included?_
Yes they are.
_How well has the game made the leap into 3D?_
Very well.It is just as much fun as the 2D original.How often can you
say that?
_Is there a shot clock?_
Unfortunately,yes.
_How many players is this game?_
1-4 playes.
_Are there any bugs in this game?_
Not that I have seen.
_Do you have to have a VMU to save?_
Yes there is no way to save without a VMU.
_Do you have to have a VMU to Create a player?_
No.It will be in the systems memory until the system is shut off.

Yes it does.
_Can I break the back board like in the original?_

I believe they are current as of September.

No you can't.

I paid $29.99

Definitely.It was worth every penny.
_Are there a lot of options?_
No.You can change the time,difficulty,button configuration and
various sound volume.
_How many modes of play are there?_
2.Create-A-Player and game.
_How many courts are there?_
All of the teams courts plus Street and Island.There may be more.If you
know of any more and how to get them email me and I will give you credit.
_Are there different weather situations?_
Yes.Through the use of codes you can make it snow or rain.Provided you
are outside(Street or Island courts)
_Do the cpu players cheat?_
Yes sometimes very badly.They like to make sure it is a close game.
_Are there hot spots?_
Yes.You can even set where your created player's is with the use of one
of the two possible special privalidges.
_What are Hot spots?_
They are spots on the court where a player has a higher chance of
making the shot.
_Is the other Player on your team always a drone(cpu controlled)?_
Yes unless a second player joins in.It would have been nice if Midway
included an option where whoever had the ball was being controlled by
a human.
_Is the game hard?_
No.It can be cheesy sometimes but it isn't hard.
_Wasn't this an arcade game?_
Yes.
_Is this better then NBA2K?_
I don't know.I have never played NBA2K.
_How much space does it take on a VMU?_
17 for system data,2 for each created player.
_Why should I save the game?_
Well it keeps track of your records for one.When you create any secret
characters if you don't save they are gone when you shut the Dc off.
_How long are the quarters?_
You can set the time(In minutes).
_Can I use the D-pad rather then the analog stick?_
Yes.But the analog stick is perfect for this game.
_Is there anyway to shut off the catch up feature?_
Thanks to Anthony who was the first to email this to me.To shut off the
Catch up feature simply enter the Tournement code which is listed in the
code section of the FAQ.Thanks Anthony nd everyone else who emailed this
to me.
