Introduction
============
Rockman is the name of the popular series Mega Man. Rockman X sort of combines the some
of the levels from Mega Man X, X2, and X3(i think). Its actually quite an achievement in
some ways, and a dissapointment in others. At the moment its in japanese only, so I'm
providing a menu translation.
Features:

-SRAM saves (no passwords to write down!)
-colorful backgrounds
-not so colorful sprites.
-auto rapid fire
-auto charging

Graphics wise its like SNES backgrounds with NES sprites. Theres a great disparity in them,
thanks to the three color plus "clear" sprite pallete.

=====
Story
=====
The Mother Computer has been hacked and the past battle data has a virus
running rampant in it. Megaman must go into the data world and destroy the robots
he once defeated long ago (Megaman X & X2 bosses)

==========
Characters
==========
Rock Man X (Mega Man X)
 Potentially the most powerful robot, according to MMX1 SNES. Dr. Lights greatest
creation, which he did not live to see fully tested.

Zero
 Head of the Maverick Hunters. Ally to Megaman X.

Middy & Techno
 Wierd little robot guys which undoubtedly is really evil in disguise. Evidence: they know
how to use a computer. Everyone knows that people who know too much about computers are
evil.

Vava (Vile)
 Evil puppet leading the revolution.

========
Controls
========
A -          Jump
B -          Fire weapon. Hold B to charge.
Select -     Bring up in pause menu
Start -      Dash or change weapon
Up -         Climb Up
Down -       Climb Down
Left/Right - Walk left/right.

About Dashing
 Mega Man X introduced a new control mechanic into the series, the Dash. In Rockman X GBC,
you start off with the dash feature, but you cant dash jump off walls. To dash, press:
1. Down and A to dash in the direction you're facing.
2. Double tap in the direction you want to dash.
3. Press start to dash in the direction you're facing(in one control setup).
After you get the dash powerup, you automotically dash jump off walls.

About Rapid Fire
 Back in the day, the best Mega Man gamers used 3rd party controllers that had rapid
fire to shot your bullets faster and to keep your thumb from getting sore. Now you can
do this in software with the Auto Fire option. Just hold down B to fire rapidly.

About Auto Charge
 Similar to Rapid fire, this funtion will charge up Automatically for you, to keep your
thumbs in good condition. Note that you can enable both functions at once.

Enemies
=======

Boss Order
The hallmark of the Rockman game, boss order. Here's the list:
1. Storm Eagle (easiest to beat with xbuster)
2. Flame Stag (Storm tornado
3. Chill Penguin (r. burner)
4. Spark Mandrill (shotgun ice)

Boss strategies

Storm Eagle:
Attacks and counters
  - shoots storm tornado at you which pushes you off the platform. Jump over it.
  - creates birds that attack you. shoot them.
  - flaps wings which pushes you off the platform. dash into the wind (down +A is
    easiest here)
    and shoot him with a charged Xbuster.
  - Dives at you from the air. dash away when you hear the sound. if you're good,
    you can shoot him too during this.

Flame Stag
Attacks and counters
  - weak against Storm Tornado
  - Wall jumps up walls. The best bet here is to just be where he was when he started,
    because he ends up on the other side of the room. If you have Storm Tornado, shoot him
    when he takes off to stop the wall jump session.
  - Shoots flame punches with hooks in the order down, up, down, up. Jump over the down
    flames, just stay put on the up flames and shoot him.
  - Dashes at you and gives you a nice three hit combo. Your only hope is quick reflexes here.

Chill Penguin
 Attacks and counters
  - weak against R. Burner
  - Shoots ice pellets at you. Jump over them and shoot him at a level just above the
    fast pellets to hit him.
  - Creates penguin statues. Just avoid his icy breath, dont bother shooting him, because
    hes invulnerable during this attack. It might be a wise idea to head up the wall now
    to get ready to shoot him, since he'll make more than one attempt for the ring if you hit
    him.
  - Toboggans across the floor. Jump over him and give him a taste of charged shot when
    he finishes. Invulnerable during the attack.
  - Jumps up and grabs a ring which causes a blizzard. Don't be on the ground when this happens
    since those statues hurt if they collide with you.

Spark Mandril
  Attacks and counters
   - weak against Shotgun Ice. It freezes him temporarily, so get in a good hiding spot.
   - Sends big sparks across the border of the room. Jump up the wall and then off to avoid them,
     then shoot him.
   - Jumps up and swings around the ceiling, you can try and get him with the Shotgun Ice
     richochette. When you're underneath him, he'll try and drop on you. This is often followed
     by a dash punch if that misses. So the best technique is to dash under him in the opposite
     direction hes moving, then run/dash like mad for the wall, then over him when he dash punches.
   - Dash punches you. Use quick reflexes to jump over him.

Miniboss Stragies
 Water Blob (Spark Mandrill)
    Just turn on rapid fire and blast this thing to kingdom come. If you get stuck in the water
    it discharges, dash to get out. The closer you get to it the faster your rapid fire works.

=======
Weapons
=======
Rockman earns new weapons to use when he beats bosses. With the Xbuster upgrade, he can even
charge these weapons up for more powerful attacks. So far I've found

Storm Tornado
Uncharged: Shoots a blast of circling air, which can hit multiple times.
Charged: Creates a more powerful verticle tornado in line with Rockman X.

R. Burner
Uncharged: Shoots a circling pair of flames.
Charged: You dash quickly with a body of fire surrounding you.

Shotgun Ice
Uncharged: Shoots an ice charge that breaks into five richochete pieces on contact.
Charged: Creates a little self propelled sled, hitting for multiple hits.

Electric Spark
Unchargrd: Shoots a spark charge.
Charged: A pair of larger sparks circle the screen boarder.

========
PowerUps
========
Pods
So far I've encountered these power up pods:

Name:Dash upgrade - with this you can dash jump off walls. No way to do this otherwise.
                   note that you start off with the ability to dash
Found: Chill Penguin Stage - Its right out in the open in the middle of the stage after
                            icy slopes.

Name:Helmet upgrade - with this you can break certain types of bricks with your head.

Found: Storm Eagle Stage - You may want the dash upgrade to get this. After the moving jet
                          platforms, theres a big white tower you'll wall jump up.
                          Fall down the other side of it, and jump off that side onto
                          the ledge with the explosives. Shoot them to enter the area
                          with the upgrade.

Name:Armor upgrade - with this the damage you take is cut in half
Found: Flame Stag Stage - Located just after you find the second elephant, you'll want to
                         enter the cave through the part open without the ramming
                         elephant. Then just dash jump across to a ledge with the upgrade.

Name:Xbuster upgrade - with this you can charge your Xbuster further, and charge the boss
                      weapons.

Found: Spark Mandrill Stage - in the second dark area, if you look carefully, you should
                             notice an odd looking part of the ceiling. If you have the
                             helmet upgrade, just nail it with your head and break thru
                             to the xbuster upgrade.

Heart tanks
 Finding heart tanks increases Rockman X's max energy by a little. So far ive found tanks
in these locations.
1. Chill Penguin - in the area with the mecha suit, jump up with it, then rocket up, and
                  jump out of it, and head left, to the "ceiling" of the cave you'd normally
                  enter. Blast the igloos with R. Burner for the tank.

2. Storm Eagle - in the second area, with the jet platforms, jump on the first one, and dash
                jump to the right, onto the glass control tower looking thing. Its hidden in
                the middle

3. Spark Mandrill- in the fourth area, after you beat some turtle robot, rather than go down
                  the ladder, dash jump up the wall, across to the other wall, and back to
                  the ledge with the tank.

4. Flame Stag - in the second area with the rising fire, just wall jump really fast to the
               platform with the heart tank, and shoot the thing on the ceiling before it
               blocks the way.

Subtanks
Subtanks are special reserve tanks that you can use to refill your energy if your running
low. They are filled with excess energy capsules you find. So far ive found these tanks:

1. Spark Mandrill - in the first area, when you could go down a ladder or to the right, go
                   down. At the bottom level you come across a wall of computer chip
                   looking block. You can break them with the wall dash jump upgrade.

Mecha
Mecha suits are basically body armor. Any damage you recieve goes to it instead, but you
recieve any energy pills found. Press up and jump to jump out of a mecha.
So far ive seen one type of robot body to walk in

1. Driller Body
  Press A to jump, hold to activate jets.
  Press B to attack with arm, hold to power up a dash attack.

Boss Order (the order I fought them)
1. Wheel Gator (use X-buster)
2. Morph Moth (use s. burner)
3. Magna Centepede (use s. shot)
4. Armored Armadillo (use e. spark)

Boss Strategies

       Wheel Gator
        - Dodge blades when he goes underwater and climb the wall to the top
          as to avoid him grabbing you when he emerges out of the water
        - wait for him to stop flashing, then blast him with a charged shot

       Morph Moth
        - dodge the debris while pelting him with s. burner
        - after his metamorphosis, dodge his downward projectiles and blast
          him more with the s. burner

       Magna Centepede
        - hit him with s. shot to initially break his tail off
        - watch his teleport location and blast away with the s. shot

       Armored Armadillo
        - hit him with e. spark to remove his armor
        - blast away with e. spark until he's dead

=================

         - charge to send projectiles in 6 directions

s. shot   - Silk Shot
         - charge to shoot an even bigger debris pile which splits 8 directions
