eight different bikers you can choose from. The bikers you can choose from are
Mat Hoffman, Mike Escamilla, Cory Naztazio, Joe Kowalski, Rick Thorne, Denis
McCoy, Kevin Robinson, and Simon Tabron. None of the bikers in this game are
more skilled than another, but each biker has a unique set of vert and street

Before starting your career, you should go to training to learn the
fundamentals of Pro BMX. There are five different training camps and five
lessons in each camp. There is an objective you must complete to pass the
lesson. Training is not necessary to start a career, but is heavily
recommended because the skills you acquire in training are helpful throughout
your whole career. In the training camps, you learn numerous things such as
control, tricks, grinds, stalls, combo's, scoring, advanced tricks,
back-to-back chains, specials, and special tricks. Passing all of the training
camp lessons do not give you a special feature or bike, but it does provide
you with the essential experience you need when you start a career. The
difficulty level is rated from a scale of 1 to 10.
---------------
Training Camp 1
---------------
-Basic Control 1-
Type: Find and Collect
Difficulty: 1
Objective: Pick up all 10 stars to pass.
Controls: Hold up or down when approaching a ramp to turn.
Strategy: This first lesson is simple. Just get the two stars to your right,
and then turn. Get the four stars here, and then turn again to get the last
four stars.
-Basic Tricks 1-
Type: Vert Tricks
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Perform 5 basic tricks to pass.
Controls: Accelerate for more air. Jump then dial in 1 of 5 basic tricks using
these controls:
A+Up, A+Left, A+Down, A+Right, A+B
Strategy: The 180 No Hander, 180 No Footer, 180 Bar Spin, 180 X Up, and 1
Handed 1 Footer are the tricks that must be done to pass. Be sure to
accelerate though as it says, or else you will crash and the score will not be
counted. To accelerate, hold the A button.
-Basic Control 2-
Type: Find and Collect
Difficulty: 1
Objective: Pick up all 10 stars to pass.
Controls: Hold up or down when approaching a spine to turn.
Strategy: Get the two stars, and turn when approaching the spine to go in the
lane below you. Get the three stars there, and then ride over the spine to
reach the other side that has two stars. To get the last two stars, turn when
approaching the spine.
-Basic Tricks 2-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Perform 5 different basic tricks using a spine to pass.
Controls: Accelerate for more air. Jump then dial in 1 of 5 basic tricks using
these controls:
A+Up, A+Left, A+Down, A+Right, A+B
Strategy: The tricks are identical of the ones you did in Basic Tricks 1, but
this time you must perform the tricks on the spine which is between the two
verts.
-Basic Tricks 3-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Perform five different tricks using a funbox to pass.
Controls: When jumping, dial in 1 of 5 basic tricks using these controls:
A+Up, A+Left, A+Down, A+Right, A+B
Strategy: The tricks yet again are the same tricks you performed in Basic
Tricks 1 & 2, but they must be done on the funbox that is located between the
two verts.
---------------
Training Camp 2
---------------
-Grinds and Stalls 1-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Perform 6 different grinds using a handrail to pass.
Controls: Hold the B button to move at grind speed. Do 1 of 6 handrail grinds
using these controls:
B+Up, B+Down, B+Up-Right, B+Down-Right, B, B+Left
Strategy: These are the six only grinds that can be performed on a handrail,
and these grinds are fairly simple. The handrail is between the two verts.
-Grinds and Stalls 2-
Type: Vert Tricks
Difficulty: 3
Objective: Perform three different stalls to pass. Hold the B button to move
at grind speed.
Controls: Dial in 1 of these 3 stalls using these controls:
Strategy: The 50/50 Stall, Vert Fufanu, Vert 180 Nose Pick are the three
stalls required to be performed to pass.
-Grinds and Stalls 3-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Perform 6 different stalls using a spine to pass.
Controls: Hold the B button to move at grind speed. Dial in of these 6 stalls
using these controls:
B, B+Left, B+Up, B+Down, B+Up-Left Diagonal, B+Down-Left Diagonal
Strategy: This one is simple, just do the various stalls on the spine to pass.
-Grinds and Stalls 4-
Type: Vert Tricks
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Perform 2 different grinds to pass.
Controls: Hold the B button to move at grind speed. Hold up or down when
approaching a ramp to turn. For two vert grinds, use these controls:
B, B+Left
Strategy: Instead of performing a stall on the vert, you must perform a grind.
To do a grind on a vert, you must dial in the controls it instructs you to do
and press the way that you want to travel on the vert. For example, if you
wanted to do the Alley Oop trick (B+Left) and travel upwards on a vert, the
vert, then you would press dial in B+Left+Up.
-Grinds and Stalls 5-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Perform 4 different roll-over tricks using a funbox to pass.
Controls: Hold the B button to move at grind speed. For roll-over tricks, use
these controls:
B+Up, B+Down, B+Right, B+Left
Strategy: Roll-over tricks are only able to be performed on the funbox, but
are relativity easy.
---------------
Training Camp 3
---------------
-Combo's 1-
Type: Vert Combo's
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Perform 5 different combo's to pass.
Controls: Extend any trick into a combo using these controls.
A+Up, A+Left, A+Down, A+Right, A+B
Strategy: A combo is a combination of two tricks performed in one jump.
Dialing combo's in are easy, just dial in another trick after you do your
first trick (while in the same jump). Do not try to perform a combo right
away. Do a few simple tricks to get your acceleration and jumping ability
better, and then perform the combo. You must do five combos that include every
one of the five tricks mentioned in the instruction screen.
-Combo's 2-
Type: Street Combo's
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Perform 10 different combo's on both a spine and funbox to pass.
Controls: Extend any trick into a combo using these controls.
A+Up, A+Left, A+Down, A+Right, A+B
Strategy: Half of your combo's will be done on the funbox, and the other half
will have to be done on the two spines in the lane below you. You must do ten
different combo's with the tricks mentioned above.
-Scoring 1-
Type: Scoring
Difficulty: 3
Objective: Score 2000 in only 8 jumps to pass. Note: Trick scores get lower
when repeated on the same type of ramp. Try to mix up your tricks for higher
scores.
Controls: None
Strategy: A jump is anytime you go over any vert, spine, or funbox. It does
not matter if you do a trick or not when going over the vert, spine, or
funbox, it still counts as a jump. There is one exception though. If you
perform a grind, stall, or roll-over trick, it does not count as a jump.
Around 250 points need to be scored per each jump.
-Advanced Tricks 1-
Type: Vert Tricks
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Perform 4 different advanced tricks to pass.
Controls: When jumping, dial in 1 of these 4 advanced tricks using these controls.
B+Up, B+Down, B+Left, B+Right
Strategy: These are the four main advanced tricks. Make sure that you get your
acceleration speed high before attempting the tricks.
-Advanced Tricks 2-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Perform 8 Advanced Tricks using both a Spine and a Funbox to pass.
Controls: When jumping, dial in 1 of 8 advanced tricks using these controls.
B+Up, B+Down, B+Left, B+Right
Strategy: This tricks you must perform are identical to the one's you just did
in Advanced Tricks 1. Now you must do eight advanced tricks, four on the
funbox and four on the spine.
---------------
Training Camp 4
---------------
-Advanced Tricks 3-
Type: Vert Tricks
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Perform 6 different advanced tricks to pass.
Controls: When jumping, dial in 1 of 6 advanced tricks using these controls.
Up,Down, Left,Right, Right,Left, Up,Up, Down,Down, Down,Up
Strategy: You can not perform these tricks as soon as you start, or else you
will crash. You must do a few simple tricks to get your acceleration speed and
jumping ability higher.
-Advanced Tricks 4-
Type: Street Tricks
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Perform 12 advanced tricks using both a spine and a funbox to pass.
Controls: When jumping, dial in 1 of 12 advanced tricks using these controls.
Up,Down, Left,Right, Right,Left, Up,Up, Down,Down, Down,Up
Strategy: Half of your advanced tricks are going to be performed on the
funbox, and the other half on the spines. Keep track in your head what tricks
you have done because it can get confusing about what tricks you have and
have not done.
-Scoring 2-
Type: Scoring
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Score 5000 in only 8 jumps to pass. Note: Trick scores get lower
when repeated on the same type of ramp. Extend your basic and advanced tricks
into combo's.
Controls: None
Strategy: 625 points are needed per jump to pass. Remember, grinds, stalls,
and roll-over tricks do not count as jumps and still give you score. Try not
to repeat tricks, or your score lowers as you repeat the trick.
-Back-to-Back Chains 1-
Type: None
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Build a 6 back-to-back chain to pass. Link both sides of the
halfpipe with any trick to gain score multiplier. Multiplier resets if you
don't do a trick.
Controls: None
Strategy: A back-to-back chain is a series of tricks. To do a back-to-back
chain, you must do a trick anytime you do a jump. In this case, when you jump
on a vert, you must do a trick. When you do back-to-back chains, you might
notice that your score multiplier increases by 1, which helps you get more
score. You can do the same trick on both sides, it does not matter.
-Back-to-Back Chains 2-
Type: None
Difficulty: 3
Objective: Build a 6 Back-to-back chain to pass. Link both sides of the
halfpipe with any trick to gain score multiplier. Multiplier resets if you
don't do a trick.
Controls: None
Strategy: Do the same thing as you did in back-to-back chains 1, except there
is a funbox and spine added that you can build a six back-to-back chain on.
---------------
Training Camp 5
---------------
-Specials-
Type: Special Bar
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Fully charge your special bar by mixing tricks and combo's to pass.
When your bar is full you may perform special tricks for more points.
Controls: None
Strategy: Your special bar is the bar in the bottom-left corner. Notice that
every time you do a trick or combo, your bar increases a little. When you do
enough tricks, your bar will turn white when it is full.
-Scoring 3-
Type: Scoring
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Using a NEW BIKE, score 12000 in only 8 jumps to pass. You catch
more air with better bikes! Note: Tricks scores get lower when repeated on the
same type of ramp.
Controls: None
Strategy: The average jump should get you 1500 points, because if you get 1500
in eight jumps, you get 12000 exactly. You can also do grinds, stalls, and
roll-over tricks that you do not have to waste jumps.
-Special Tricks-
Type: Common Specials
Difficulty: 7
Objective: Fully charge your special bar.
Controls: Perform 12 different special tricks on vert, funbox, and spine
using these controls.
Left,A+Right, Left,B+Right, Down,A+Up, Right,A+Left
Strategy: You must fully charge up your special bar before attempting special
tricks, or else they will not work. The four tricks must be done on the vert,
spine, and funbox totaling twelve tricks to perform to pass.
-Scoring 4-
Type: Scoring
Difficulty: 6
Objective: Perform 1 stunt or combo that scores at least 4000 to pass.
Link ramps with any trick to gain back-to-back score multiplier. Extend your
basic and advanced tricks into combo's.
Controls: None
Strategy: First, do some simple tricks until your score multiplier is up to
six. Then perform a big trick or combo. Your special tricks will be able to
get you a trick above 4000. If you do a combo, both tricks need to be good.
-Variety Challenge-
Type: Final Exam
Difficulty: 6
Objective: Perform 20 different tricks without crashing to pass. Combo's don't
count but ramp types do!
Controls: None
Strategy: Keep track of what tricks you have done and which ramp you have
done them on. Remember, you can repeat the same trick on that you did on one
ramp and do it on a different ramp. Do not bother doing combo's because they
do not count, and you have the possibility of crashing.

the fourth star. Grind on the handrail ahead to get another star. Turn at the
vert and do another roll-over on the funbox to your right to get a star.
Turn on the next vert into the lane above you, and grind on the handrail to

If you get all the stars, you only need to do 5000 points in tricks. The time
is short though, so hurry.
-Collect G-R-I-N-D-
Type: Find and Collect
Difficulty: 2
Objective: Pick up G-R-I-N-D to get a cover.
Time: 1:00
Strategy: Go forward and grind on the handrail to get the G. Turn into the

-----------------
Construction Site
-----------------
Requirements:
-6 covers
-Score Challenge-
Type: Scoring
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Score 45000 to get a cover.

-Collect T-R-I-C-K-
Type: Find and Collect
Difficulty: 3
Objective: Pick up T-R-I-C-K to get a cover.
Time: 1:00
Strategy: First navigate your bike to the northwest corner, from where you
start at (southwest corner). Get the I and the C in the halfpipe there. Then
get out of the halpipe into the third lane from the top. Do a trick on the
funbox to reach the K. Now ride to the northeast corner. The T will be there,
and the R is on the vert to your left.
-Collect G-R-I-N-D-
Type: Find and Collect
Difficulty: 3
Objective: Pick up G-R-I-N-D to get a cover.
Time: 1:00
Strategy: Turn your bike around and then turn to go in the lane below you. Get
the D on the funbox, and as soon as you can turn into the lane below you. The
R is in the northwest corner. Head south in the corner below you to get the G.
>From here, go to your right and get the N on the funbox with a roll-over
trick. Then the I is on the vert to your right.
-Grind Challenge-
Type: Grind Challenge
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Score 16000 without jumping to get a cover.
Time: 2:00
Strategy: Only grinds and stalls are allowed. Stay at grind speed all the
time. Get your score multiplier up to 6 with some low scoring stalls, and then
do some high scoring grinds on the verts, spines, and handrails. You can also
grind on the metal construction bar.
-High Score-
Type: High Score
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Score a total of 70000 get a cover. Pick up all 10 stars for a
bonus of 30000. 1 star=3000
Time: 2:15
Strategy: The stars are scattered out, but still try to get them all. Do
tricks while you are getting the stars because the stars provide you with less
than half of your score.
-----------------
Construction Site
-----------------
Requirements:
-10 covers
-Pro Score-
Type: Pro Score
Difficulty: 6
Objective: Score 70000 to get a cover.
Time: 2:15
Strategy: Charge up you special bar and get your score multiplier at six, and
then do all the various tricks you can do on the verts, funboxes, spines, and
handrails.
-Rapid Scoring-
Type: Rapid Scoring
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Score 60000 within the time limit to get a cover. Pick up all 10
stars for a bonus of 50000. 1 star=5000
Time: 1:30
Strategy: Your time is very short, so you should not concentrate in getting
all the stars. Do not waste time trying to get the hard ones. Vary your tricks
and the ramps you do them on, and you will get the cover.
-Jump Challenge-
Type: Jump Challenge
Difficulty: 5
Objective: Score 32000 in only 20 jumps to get a cover.
Time: 1:30
Strategy: 1600 is the average score needed per jump. Grinds, stalls, and
roll-over tricks are useful if you are running low on jumps, due to the
fact that they do not waste jumps.
-Perfect Variety-
Type: Perfect Variety
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Perform 30 different tricks without crashing to get a cover.
Combo's don't count but ramp types do!
Time: 2:15
Strategy: The key here is to remember what tricks you did, and on which ramp
because you can do the same trick on three different ramps and it will count
as three different tricks. Do not do combo's, they do not count and you can
crash causing you to fail.
-Perfect Score-
Type: Perfect Score
Difficulty: 4
Objective: Score 50000 without crashing to get a cover.
Time: 2:15
Strategy: Instead of doing combo's try single tricks that give you high score,
due to the fact that doing combo's runs the risk of you crashing. If you do
simple combo's, make sure to at least get your special bar charged. The time
is plentiful and will not cause you problems, so do not crash.

This is an index of all the tricks that can be performed in the game, how to
dial in the trick, and it's initial point value. The tricks are sorted out
by the equipment you do them on. There is a section at the bottom labeled
"Special Rider Tricks." In this section, only certain rider's can do some of
the tricks. To find out what special tricks your rider can do, first look at
his profile and find his special tricks. Then you can find out which special
tricks your rider can perform. Remember that the point value of your trick
lowers as your repeat the trick. The point value's here are the value of the
trick the first time you perform it.

My e-mail address is currently
[email protected]. You may send me
questions, suggestions, or comments about this walkthrough or the game to my
e-mail address. Please only send e-mails about Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX for Game
Boy Color, not on other topics.
1) Who is the best biker to choose from?
A: The bikers in the Game Boy Color version of Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX do not
have statistics such as air, spin, balance, or speed. All of them have the
same abilities. They all have the same main tricks. The only thing that varies
another biker from another is their special rider tricks, which only that
certain biker can perform.
2) Why can I not land my combo's/tricks?
A: You might not be timing your combo's or tricks right. To time your combo's
or tricks correctly, you need to dial in your trick as your are going up. If
you dial in a trick as your are going down, then most probably you are going
to crash because you don't have enough time to perform the trick. Your bike
also might have to be better to so some of the harder combo's or the rider's
special tricks.
3) Is training camp required to be completed to beat the game or start a
career?
A: No, training is a mode to teach you the skills you must have to beat the
game. No special modes or cheats are unlocked by beating training camp. The
experience that you receive from training camp is much needed though.
4) Where can I get medals needed to enter certain levels?
A: Medals can only be acquired only by beating competitions.
5) What do I get for beating the Time Trial mode and Career mode?
A: Absolutely nothing extra happens when you beat the Career and Time Trial
modes of the game. Time trial is just to test your ability to do tricks
efficiently while riding to a finish line. For beating the career mode, you
get to watch a nice credits sequence, but that is about it.
