FAQ Ver. 0.5

After searching the net long and hard for an English FAQ for this game, I was
unable to come across one anywhere. In fact, the only FAQ I could find at all
was a Portuguese FAQ by Simon (Kudos to that guy :) ). To cut a long story
short, playing this game was damn hard, and I'm still playing through it.
Hell, it took me ages to just work out how to save it (thanks to gadwin784 for
telling me how!)!
One thing I wish to make clear- This is *not* a walkthrough yet. It is a FAQ
to help people where I got stuck. When I eventually conplete the game, I'll
probably add the Walkthrough section in :)
Usual copyright crap applies, I won't bore you with it, you know the drill,
I'll just say this document is copyright 2002 Shakey_Jake33 (Jake Baldwin), if
you wish to use the material, give me credit.

I - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
==============================
1.1 - Basic Story Prologue
--------------------------
Three school students named Yuuhi, Mizuki and Shirou are somehow carried over
to the world of Grandia. In this world, they meet Liete, who tells them that
to return to their own world, they will require the help of Justin, Feena and
Sue (all from Grandia I), as well as Sweats. However, as the story progresses,
they find themselves as the only ones who can save the world.
This is all I have managed to find out so far, by digging through various
webpages.
1.2 - Characters
----------------
YUUBI - This guy is the star of the game. A young red-headed teenager.
PINKY - Yuubi's best friend, this pink thing is of the same species as Sue's
pet Puffy.
SHIROU - Shirou is Yuubi's rival, but they are close friends too.
MIZUKI - This young red-headed girl is one of Yuubi's closest friends.
JUSTIN - Star of the original Grandia, this young adventurer helps you your
band of characters. He is a 15 year old boy who has dreamed of being an
adventurer for years. He used to play games with Sue against Gantz as a kid.
FEENA - Feena becomes Justin's girlfriend in the original Grandia. In this
game, the 16 year old girl is just as much help as she's always been. And she
uses knives and whips too ^_^
SUE - This 8 year old girl has been Justin's best friends for years.
There are also other characters worth mentioning such as Lily, who is Justin's
mother, Liete, protectot of the world who gets them started on their quest,
Sweat, Gadwin (excellent warrior from Grandia I), Milda, Rapp, Gantz (Justin's
rival), Tentz (Gantz's little brother), and even Pakon, as well as many more!

1.4 - Battle System
-------------------
When in a battle, you are presented with an IP guage, similar to other Grandia
games. Your characters (and enemies) move slowly move to the left.
When you reach the far left of the guage, you can select your attack anlong
with the enemy you wish to hit.
Now your can select an position on the IP grid to start on and head slowly
right until you reach the ACT marker where they unleash their attack.
1.5 - Pause Menu Translation
----------------------------
The pause menu has 5 different options. Herr's what they do, running from left
to right.
1- Action.
This allows you to select skills and magic for your character.
Once you enter this menu, choose the character you wish to customise.
There are 5 options in this screen. The first lets you equip a skill onto a
specific character. The second option allows you to equip magic onto a specific
character. The third option allows you to exchange one skill or magic for
another skill or magic. The forth option lets you remove a skill or magic.
And finally, the final option lts you permenently discard a magic or skill.
You can press Select above any magic or skill to get information about it,
obviously in Japanese... Though the picture should be enough to explain it.
2- Equipment.
This allows you to equip items such as weapons and armour.
Inside this menu there are 3 options- The first option allows you to equip a
piece of Equipment. The second option is used to remove a piece of Equipment.
And the Third option is used to permenently discard a piece of Equipment. You
can press Select to get information about the item.
3- Item.
On this menu, you can use items.
There are 3 options- Use item (self explanatory), Discard item (permenently, so
I presume there is a limited amount of spece), and the final option I think is
view items special properties, tho I'm not too sure.
4- Party Configuration.
On this game, you can only have 3 characters on the battlefield at once.
On this menu, you can select the character which are battling. The first
option switches your party member with another party member. The second option
simply removes the person from the battlefield. The last option gives
imformation about the characters, including their skills. The final option is
even useful if you don't know Japanese.
5- Information Database.
This gives you information about equipment, characters & enemies.
Use the first optiin to view information about equipment, the second option to
view information about your characters, and the third option to view
information about enemies.
6- Options.
This gives you basic game configuration options.
The first option is used to view the statistics of your Pinky. The second lets
you change general game options. When using the second option, the first
option changes the text speedm the second option enables and disables battle
animation. the final option saves the changes you make.
1.6 - Battle Menu Translation
-----------------------------
When you enter a battle, you are faced with 3 options. The first is Attack,
the second is Sip Go, and the third is Run. See section 1.4 for an
explaination of the battle system.
1.7 - Heal Point Translation
----------------------------
There are 3 options. The first one heals your character to maximum HP and AP
(MP). The second one lets move from one heal pod to another, provided you have
been there. The third option lets you conbine cards (skills) to create new
ones. The forth option lets you purchase itens from Guido's shop (he sells
Items). And the final option lets you purchase items from Chit's shop (he
sells Equipment).
1.8 - How do you Save?
----------------------
Unlike previous Grandia games, Parallel Trippers does not use the healing
points to save game. Instead, you can save the game whenever you want.
When you are playing the game and not in a battle, press start to go to the
pause menu. When in the pause menu, press start again. Then choose the LEFT
option. The game should now be saved.
You have no idea what pain I went through trying to work this out >.< Thanks
to gadwin784 for telling me :)
1.9 - How do you name your character in normal (Roman) lettering?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When you come to the screen where you choose a character name, there should be
an option second from the bottom (just above what would be the OK option).
Press this option twice. You should now see a screen with Roman (normal)
letters, unfortunatly in capitals only.
This isn't much help in the game however. It is easier to see what character
is being refered to sometimes.
1.10 - Does this game follow the story of the original Grandia?
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dispite containing the same characters (and featuring mostly the same music),
this game has very little similarity with the original Grandia. The game does
not follow the same storyline as such, I'm afraid. If your desperate for more
Grandia 1 action, you could always get Grandia Digital Museum on the Saturn...
