(2.0) Introduction/Game and Watch History
=============================================

You may be thinking, "What's a Game and Watch?" Well, back in the early 80's
before there were console games, Nintendo produced many different handheld LCD
games. They were pretty simple, but they could be very difficult. They often
involved trying to take care of 5 or 6 objects at once without messing up. They
were panic-styled games that got much faster as you got to higher levels.

The first Game and Watch came out in April of 1980 under the title of "Ball."
In this revolutionary game, you control a stick figure's arm to keep juggling 2
or 3 balls. It was quite simple, but it was the first of its kind. Over the
next 11 years Nintendo would release 59 more of them. They came in all
different shapes and sizes. Some had multiple screens, some were meant to be
set on a table, a few had tinted screens for "color," and some even had
transparent screens. They were very successful, and today remain popular
collector's items.

Several years later in 1997, Nintendo released the first of its "Game and Watch
Gallery" series. These games would have faithful simulations of several of the
original games, as well as modern remakes with enhanced graphics. The first one
was for Game Boy, the next two were for Game Boy Color, and the fourth one was
for Game Boy Advance. Over 30 of the original games have been rereleased. This
third installment of the series includes 5 regular and 6 unlockable games.

(3.0) The Games
===================

This section contains general and specific information for playing each of the
16 games. The Classic and Modern versions of Egg, Greenhouse, Turtle Bridge,
Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong Jr. are unlocked by default. Flagman, Judge, Lion,
Spitball Sparky, Donkey Kong II, and Fire must be unlocked by earning stars.
The hidden games only have Classic versions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

==============================
(3.1) General Instructions
==============================

Choosing a Game
---------------
From the main menu, choose "Play Game" to see the list of available games. You
will originally only have 5 unlocked, but as you get more stars you will unlock
more games. Choose the game you want from the list, or choose the arrows to go
to the secret games. Under the list it will tell you how many stars you have
gotten on that game. After you've chosen a game, you will see some basic
instructions at the bottom of the screen and version options at the top. Use Up
and Down to change between the Classic and Modern versions of the game, and
Right and Left to change difficulties. Push A to start the game.

Earning Points and Stars
------------------------
Every game will reward you point based on how far you get. Usually you get 1 or
2 points each time you do part of the task. As you play, it will gradually get
faster. After 100 points, though, it will slow down a bit before it starts
speeding up again. Every 200 points you get, you earn a star (except in Flagman
and Judge). You can get up to 5 stars per game for each difficulty. They are
used to unlock rewards after you get certain numbers of them.

Difficulty Levels
-----------------
Each game has an Easy and a Hard setting, or Game A and Game B in classic mode.
The harder mode plays pretty much the same, just faster. A couple of the Hidden
games play completely differently on Game B though. If you get 1000 points or
more on any of the regular modern games, you will unlock a special Star Mode.
It is even harder then hard. To access it, press up when you have the modern
mode selected in its menu. You can NOT get stars in this mode, it is just for
fun.

Missing
-------
If you mess up on a game, you will lose one of your lives. The game is over
when you lose all of them. In the modern games, hearts come at 200, 500, and
700 points. They erase one miss. In most classic games, all misses are cleared
after a few hundred points.

Saving Your Game
----------------
Most of these games can take a long time to reach the 1000 point mark, so the
developers have given you a break. If you pause the game while you are playing,
then turn it off, it will automatically save your game exactly where you are.
Next time you turn the game on it will let you continue the game at the title
screen.

(3.2) Regular Games
=======================

+++++++++++++++
Egg - Modern
+++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Flip Yoshi's head diagonally
  B: Flip Yoshi's head diagonally
  Control Pad: Move Yoshi's head

Gameplay:

Yoshi needs to eat all the cookies that come out of the oven before they
fall. Move Yoshi's head so that he is looking toward one of the ramps, and
when a cookie falls out he will eat it automatically. You must catch them
all, so quickly move his head so he'll get them. If you miss one, it will
fall and you'll lose a life.

As the cookies come down the ramps, you'll notice that they get darker and
their patterns show up more clearly. This is because they are baking. It is
best to eat them at the very end, because you get more points. They turn
black at the as they start to fall since they get burned. If you do eat one
when it is fully cooked, but not burned, the meter on the bottom that
corresponds to the shape of the cookie will increase. When it gets full, a
special Yoshi Cookie will fall down. If you eat it when it is fully cooked,
Yoshi will lay an egg. If you eat two more fully cooked Yoshi Cookies, one
of the eggs will hatch and a baby Yoshi will come out. It will jump onto one
of the ramps and eat all the cookies that fall out, which is a big help when
it starts to get fast. Every time it eats a cookie it will move forward, and
when it leaves the screen you're on your own again.

Every once in awhile a Bob-Omb will come out instead of a cookie. Do NOT eat
it, or you will lose a life. They come more often in the harder difficulty
levels. Hearts, which erase one of your misses, come at 200, 500, and 700
points. If you miss a cookie, you lose all your eggs. Eating a burned cookie
lowers the cookie meter at the bottom.

Tips:

  - Try to wait until cookies are all the way cooked to eat them. You get more
    points if you do.

  - While you could probably get good at using the A or B buttons to move
diagonally, I don't recommend it. It's easy to get confused.

  - Pay attention to the Baby Yoshi's. They go away pretty quickly.

Scoring:

  Burned Cookie ................. 0 Points
  Uncooked Cookie ............... 1 Point
Fully Cooked Cookie ........... 2 Points

++++++++++++++++
Egg - Classic
++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Flip basket diagonally
  B: Flip basket diagonally
  Control Pad: Move basket

Gameplay:

You're controlling a wolf, and you must catch all the eggs that the hens
lay. There are four ramps, and you have to move the basket between them to
catch the eggs. If you catch an egg, you get 1 point.

If you miss an egg, a baby chick pops out and runs away, and your miss
counter increases. After you get 3 icons in the miss meter, you lose the
game. You'll notice a chicken that pops out of the top window every five
seconds or so. If you miss while it is out, the miss meter increases only
halfway. The icon will flash, telling you that it wasn't a full miss. If you
miss while it's not looking out, you lose a full point and the icon will be
solid. After 200 or 500 points, all misses will be cleared.

When the eggs roll to the very end of the ramp they will just float there
for a second, which makes it kind of tricky. You have to have the basket
there at just the right moment to catch it. Don't move the basket out from
under it until it disappears, or you'll likely see it fall after you move.

In easy mode the eggs only fall from 3 of the ramps. This makes it easier
once you figure out which one isn't dropping eggs. In hard mode, however,
eggs fall out of all 4 of the ramps so you have to be more alert.

Tips:

  - Make sure you catch the egg before you move, because it will float above
your basket for a second or so before it falls in.

Scoring:

Catching an egg ............... 1 Point

Greenhouse - Modern
++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Spit seeds
  B: Spit seeds
  Control Pad: Move Yoshi

Gameplay:

Those pesky Fly-Guys and monkeys are trying to kill Yoshi's plants! Move
Yoshi around and shoots Watermelon seeds at them to get rid of them. Fly-
Guys come out of the flower on top, and slowly make their way to the plants
on the edge. On the bottom, monkeys will climb down the ropes to your
plants. You can only shoot them when they are at the very bottom, otherwise
the wall will be in the way. Use the pipe in the middle to go between the
  top and bottom levels.

When one of the enemies is about to get your plant, they will start moving
back and forth. The monkeys will make grabbing motions, and the Fly-Guys
will shake a bit. Get them quickly or you'll lose a plant. If you try to
shoot a monkey and you hit the wall instead, the monkey will laugh at you
for a few seconds before continuing down the rope.

As you're playing, you'll notice that watermelons will periodically show up
on screen. Get them, and an icon will show up in the middle. Get 10 of them,
and your plants will get bigger and you'll be able to spit fire for a few
seconds. Use the fire on the ropes at the bottom, and it will travel up and
get the monkey even if they're behind the wall. While you have fire, the
Fly-Guys are worth 3 points instead of 1. After it runs out, you can start
collecting more watermelons. When Yoshi's plants turn into Flowers, they
will go back to sprouts after your fire powers run out.

If you let one of the enemies get your plants, you will see a sad flower
icon at the top of the screen, and you lose your watermelons. You lose when
you have 3 misses. Hearts appear at 200, 500, and 700 points. If you get one
it will erase one of your misses. Hard mode is just faster.

Tips:

  - Pay attention to the monkeys! Don't let them slip by while you're busy on
top, while at the same time, don't bother with them until they are at the
end of their rope. They can't be harmed unless they're at the very bottom.

  - Use the fire ability wisely. Since you get 2 more points per Fly-Guy than
normal, blast as many as you can before you lose the ability. You can get
up to 20 more points than you would normally.

Scoring:

  Shoot a Fly-Guy ............... 1 Point
  Get a Watermelon .............. 1 Point
  Shoot a monkey ................ 3 Points
  Shoot a Fly-Guy with fire ..... 3 Points

+++++++++++++++++++++++
Greenhouse - Classic
+++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Spray
  B: Swap screen focus
  Control Pad: Move the Fumigator

Gameplay:

This is one of the fastest classic Game and Watch games. You are the
Fumigator, and you must protect your beloved flowers. There are inchworms on
top and spiders on the bottom. You have to spray them with bug  repellant
before they make it to your flowers. This is a multi-screen game, so it
won't fit correctly on the small Game Boy screen. Instead, it shows one
screen magnified, and a smaller version of the other. Press B to swap them
if you want a closer view of the other screen. Move the Fumigator between
the screens by going up and down the ladder.

The inchworms at the top come out of the pot in the middle. They will slowly
make their way to your flowers. Move the Fumigator below them and spray them
to make them go away. The spiders come out of the webs on the bottom screen.
They will walk down the strand of web towards your flowers. You have to
spray them, but unlike the inchworms, they don't always go away after one
spray. Unless they are at the very bottom, they will just move back a step
when you spray them. Spray them multiple times to push them back to their
webs to kill them. If one is at the very bottom, however, one shot will kill
him. This can be quite handy at some times.

If you ever let an enemy reach the flowers, you will see a wilted flower
icon appear on the top screen. After you miss 3, you lose. When you reach
300 points, all your misses will be erased. If you haven't missed any by
that time, you will get double points until you miss. Hard mode is just
  faster.

Tips:

  - The clouds of spray hover for a second before they disappear. Use this to
your advantage by spraying in front of an inchworm if you're in a hurry.
It will crawl into the cloud and die.

  - When you go to spray a spider, spray repeatedly rather than just once.
Many clouds will come out and push it all the way to the top, instead of
    just pushing it back once.

  - If you're comfortable doing it, wait until the bugs get right next to the
flowers to spray them. You get more points that way.

  - I play with the bottom screen magnified, because it just makes it easier
to see the spiders. I only look at the top screen. I just use my
peripheral vision for the spiders, which is why I like to have them
    bigger.

Scoring:

Spray an inchworm near the middle ......... 1 Point
Push a spider back one step ............... 1 Point
Spray an inchworm one step from the end ... 2 Points
Spray a spider at the very end ............ 3 Points
Spray an inchworm at the very end ......... 3 Points

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Turtle Bridge - Modern
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Move right
  B: Move left
  Control Pad: Move Toad

Gameplay:

You are Toad, and you must take the item across the bridge of seagulls and
deliver it to Peach. Mario will hand you an item, and then you need to jump
across. Pay attention, though, because balloons will float up under the
birds and they will dive down to get them. If you jump on them while they're
diving, you'll fall. You lose the game when you fall 3 times. You can also
hop up the cloud platforms in the middle and jump down to get the line of
  coins for extra points.

The little clouds disappear when you stand on them too long, but you'll just
fall to the platform below it. They'll reappear when you make it back to the
beginning. The solid platform under the three clouds will fall if you stand
on it too long. It will reappear a second later, but if you move onto it
before then, you will lose a life. After you play for awhile, the platform
will change. It first gets a counter on it. When you step on it, it will
start counting down to 0, and then disappear. Later it will turn into Donut
Lifts that always fall about a second after you step on them.

After you deliver the item enough times without falling, it will turn into
another item worth more points. This lets you get a higher score quicker. It
will go back to a mushroom if you fall. The sequence of items is: Mushroom >
Egg > Present > Green Ball > Star. Occasionally, you will see green balloons
come up under the seagulls. These fly faster than the regular white
balloons, so you have to react faster. Later on, Peach will get lazy and
you'll have to wait for her to appear before delivering the item. Just hop
  around until she comes out.

When you fall, you will see an icon of Toad at the bottom. Get 3, and you
lose. At 200, 500, and 700 points Lakitu will drop a heart on the middle
platform. Get it to erases one miss.

Tips:

  - Try to get all the coins each trip. They add 6 points, and I'm pretty sure
this is how you upgrade the presents.

  - This is obvious, but don't fall when you have high level presents!
Especially the star, since you get 15 points per delivery. You can rack
up points pretty quick like this.

  - Don't stand at the beginning too long after Mario hands you the item, or
it will automatically push you onto the first bird. This can be bad when a
balloon comes under it at the same time.

Scoring:

  Get a coin .................... 1 Point
Pick up an item from Mario .... 5 Points
  Deliver a Mushroom ............ 6 Points
Deliver an Egg ................ 8 Points
  Deliver a Present ............. 10 Points
  Deliver a Green Ball .......... 12 Points
  Deliver a Star ................ 15 Points

Turtle Bridge - Classic
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Move right
  B: Move left
Control Pad: Move back and forth

Gameplay:

Help the tourists move their baggage from one side of the river to the other
by hopping on the backs of 5 turtles. Pick up a bag on the left, then jump
on each turtle in the bridge to deliver it to the other side. The turtles
don't stay in one place, however. Whenever a fish comes up under them, they
will dive down and get it. If you are standing on or jumping onto one when
it dives, you will fall into the river. 3 falls and you lose.

To score more points, move faster. You get the same amount of points each
time you deliver a package, but you get special bonus points when you make
it back to the start. You can get between 2 and 10 points, depending on how
fast you made the round-trip. In easy mode, fish hardly ever appear under
the middle turtle. In fact, they don't appear unless you stand on it for a
long time. Use this as a safe point when it gets hectic. In the hard mode,
the fish come under all 5 turtles and they rise faster.

When you fall into the river, a turtle icon indicating a miss will appear.
At 200 and 500 points, all misses are cleared. If you have no misses at that
time, you will get a special bonus period where no fish come up. This is an
excellent opportunity to score a lot of points.

Tips:

  - Don't try to return to the start before you deliver your package. You
    can't.

  - In easy mode, camp out on the middle turtle if it's getting too crazy.

  - Try to move as fast as you can so you'll get more points on your return.

Scoring:

  Deliver a package ............. 3 Points
  Successful round-trip ......... 2 - 10 Points depending on speed

+++++++++++++++++++++++
Mario Bros. - Modern
+++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Move Mario up
  B: Move Mario down
Control Pad: Move Luigi up and down

Gameplay:

In this game, you have to control both Mario and Luigi at once to make
cakes. First, an unfinished cake will come down the pipe. Move Mario down,
and he will pass it onto the conveyor belt. When it gets to the other side,
Luigi must pass it up to the next level. Keep moving the Mario Bros. up and
down to catch the cakes and pass them on.

Every time one passes the middle column, it will become more finished. At
the end, it will be wrapped up and you pass it onto a Wario's truck to the
left. When you fill his truck with 8 cakes, he'll drive away and you'll get
10 bonus points and a star on the top of the screen. Get 5 stars to get a
massive 40 point bonus! If you drop a cake before you get 5 stars, you lose
all of them and have to start over.

In Hard mode, Bowser will occasionally stomp on the top of the machine,
causing it to reverse. All the cakes will move backwards, even getting
sucked back up the pipe. It should go back to normal in a few seconds, but
you can fix it sooner by moving Luigi all the way down or Mario all the way
up to the switch. Push it to fix the machine.

If you drop a cake, an icon with Mario's head will appear on the top. 3
misses, and it's game over. At 200, 500, and 700 points, a heart will fall
from the top. Get it to erase a miss.

Tips:

  - The cakes don't fall immediately when they get to the end of a conveyor
belt; they'll just hang off the edge for a second. Use this to your
advantage when you're juggling lots of cakes.

  - Don't lose your focus! It gets pretty crazy when lots of cakes are coming
out, but you should be able to time it right to get them all.

Scoring:

  Pass a cake once .............. 1 Point
Pass a cake to the truck ...... 3 Points
Fill up the truck ............. 10 Points
  Get 5 Stars ................... 40 Points

++++++++++++++++++++++++
Mario Bros. - Classic
++++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Move Mario up
  B: Move Mario down
Control Pad: Move Luigi up and down

Gameplay:

It's hard to tell, but you're controlling Luigi on the left and Mario on the
right. This is almost exactly the same as the modern version. Move both of
them up and down to catch the boxes when they get to the end of the conveyor
belts. They will pass it to the next belt, loading the boxes with more
bottles until it gets to the top. Luigi will then pass it on to the truck.

After 6 boxes on the truck, the driver will get ready to go. After 8, he
will drive away, and you will get a 10 point bonus. Then Mario and Luigi
will collapse, and you'll get a one second or so break before your boss
makes you get going again. You might also notice that some of the cakes
disappear off the conveyor belts during your break. This is because it
resets your location, and it would be unfair if one of the boxes fell
because you got automatically moved away from it.

If you fail to catch a box at the end of the belt, it will fall. Your boss
will then yell at you, and a face icon will appear at the top. Get 3, and
you lose. After you get 300 points, all misses are cleared. If you don't
have any misses at that time, you'll get double points until you do miss.
  Hard mode is just faster.

Tips:

  - The boxes hang off the edge for a little bit before they fall. Not as long
as in the Modern version, but still enough to help you out.

  - Pay attention at the very beginning or after you make a miss. You don't
always start where the next box is coming out, so make sure to move
    quickly.

Scoring:

  Pass a box once ............... 1 Point
Fill up the truck ............. 10 Points

Donkey Kong Jr. - Modern
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Jump
  B: Jump
Control Pad: Move DK Jr. Press Up to jump and climb vines.

Gameplay:

This is definitely the most complex game in the collection, so get ready for
  a pretty long description!

The tables have turned! This time, Mario has captured Donkey Kong, and it's
up to you, Donkey Kong Jr., to save him! You have to climb up to his cage,
grabbing the key along the way, and unlock all 4 sections of his cage. You
must dodge Goombas, Nipper Plants, and Bullet Bills on your way. When you
grab the key, a platform appears near DK. Jump up on it, and you will put
the key in the lock. A corner of his cage will start blinking, and you start
from the bottom again. Do this 3 more times and Donkey Kong will be free!
Well, actually, Mario will just take him to the next level. There are 3 in
all, each with their own obstacles.

The first level is in a jungle scene. Make your way to the right side, then
climb up the vine. If any Goombas come near you, jump on them or grab onto
one of the white vines. The white vines disappear if you stay on them too
long, though. If a Goomba does hit you, you'll lose a life. Anyways,
continue going to the left, then climb the next green vine. Grab the key on
the left then climb to the floating platform. You can jump up to the fruit
and knock it down. If it hits any Goombas on its way down, you'll kill it
and get some extra points. Make sure no Goombas fall from the pipe onto you,
then jump to the spinning platform. Make sure you're not on it while it's
spinning, or you'll fall. Just jump up to DK to unlock a cage section.

The second level is also in the jungle, but this time you're up high in the
trees. Climb up and down the vines to make it over to the key by Mario. You
can go between vines by pressing Left or Right to swing them. Also dodge the
Nipper Plants coming from the pipe by the top. They'll hop around, then fall
down one of the vines. If you're on that vine, you'll lose a life. Once you
have the key, go back to the right side of the screen. Now climb up to the
top and jump on the platform. When the seagull appears, jump on it and up to
DK. The fruits you can drop on enemies appear randomly throughout the level.

Now the third level is in some sort of ice setting, and its layout is very
similar to the first level's. Swing across the vines to the platform on the
right, and climb up to the next level. You have to watch on this level for
Nipper Plants AND Goombas. Climb up the vine on the left when you're safe
from all enemies, then grab the key to the left. Dodge the Goombas, then
jump to the clouds. If they're growing and shrinking repeatedly, don't jump
yet. Wait until they're normal or you'll fall through. Jump up to DK to
finish the level. After you save DK here, you'll go back to level 1.

On all the levels, more so in Hard mode, you'll see Bullet Bills fly across
the screen. It's best to just ignore them unless they're coming towards you.
You can drop fruits on them for some points, but it's not worth the trouble.
After you get several hundred points, you'll notice Spinies coming out of
the pipes instead of Goombas. They behave the same, but you can't stomp on
  them.

In Hard mode, there are just more enemies, and everything is faster. There
are two ways to get a miss in this game. If you fall off the stage or get
hit by an enemy, a miss icon to appear on the bottom right. Get 3, and you
lose. Hearts come at 200, 500, and 700 points. Collect it to erase a miss.

Tips:

  - Try to finish each section quickly. The faster you unlock each section of
DK's cage, the more bonus points you'll get.

  - Don't worry too much about killing the enemies. Getting to the end quickly
is a much more practical way of gaining points.

  - Watch out for the platform/bird/clouds at the end. Make sure you jump at a
time when you won't fall. You don't get penalized, but you'll lose some of
    your speed bonus.

Scoring:

  Stomp on a Goomba .............. 1 Point
  Jump over a Goomba ............. 1 Point
Drop the fruit on any enemy .... 5 Points
  Completely unlock DK's cage .... 10 Points
  Unlock a section of DK's cage .. 7 - 15 Points depending on speed

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Donkey Kong Jr. - Classic
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Jump
  B: Jump
  Control Pad: Move DK Jr.

Gameplay:

Mario has Donkey Kong locked in a cage! You, Junior, must avoid all the
enemies and grab the key to unlock parts of DK's cage. You have to run to
the right, climb the vines, go left then jump and grab the key. You'll
unlock one corner of the cage. Repeat 4 times to save Donkey Kong. Only
problem is, Mario is too quick for you. He'll grab DK and go to another
  identical level.

As you're going to the top, you'll need to avoid the enemies. The ones on
the ground are snapjaws. Jump over them to get a point. Unlike in the Modern
version, however, holding onto a vine as they pass under you isn't worth a
point. You can also only hang on a vine for a few seconds before you fall
off, so beware. They'll come from Mario's branch and walk to the end of the
platform. They'll fall off and continue to your starting position. The birds
fly from left to right along the bottom. If you're on a vine or jumping,
they'll hit you. They do not go up to the second level. You can drop the
fruit up near the key onto enemies for 6 or 9 points each. It reappears
after you unlock a portion of DK's cage.

When you make it to the last step on the top, hold left and jump when the
key is swinging to the left. If you get the right moment, you'll grab it and
unlock DK's cage. You'll then get a bonus based on how quickly you made it
to the top. If you don't make it, you'll fall and get a miss. You have to
time it so the key will swing all the way to the left when you jump.

Hard mode has more enemies and you can only hang on vines for half the time
as in Easy mode. If you fall or get hit by an enemy, you'll see a sad DK
Junior icon near the top. Get 3, and you lose. At 300 points all misses are
cleared. If you have none, you'll get double points until you do get one.

Tips:

  - Try to get to the top as quickly as possible. You get a bigger bonus if
    you get there faster.

  - Don't stay on the vines for too long. You'll fall if you do, likely onto
    an enemy.

  - You can usually hit several enemies at once with the fruit in Hard mode,
so always hit it if you can. You can get up to 18 extra points per round
    if you're lucky.

Scoring:

  Jump over a snapjaw ..................... 1 Point
Hit a snapjaw on the top with fruit ..... 3 Points
Hit a bird with fruit ................... 6 Points
Hit a snapjaw on the bottom with fruit .. 9 Points
  Completely unlock DK's cage ............. 20 Points
  Unlock a section of DK's cage ........... 5 - 20 Points depending on speed

(3.3) Hidden Games
======================

++++++++++
Flagman
++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Raise flag 2
  B: Raise flag 4
Control Pad: Up raises flag 1, and Down raises flag 3

Gameplay:

This game is the only one in which Game A and Game B are completely
different. The display at the top has your score and remaining lives. The
number on the left is lives, and on the right is your score. You get 1 point
for each round you make it past. If you make a mistake, you lose a life. The
Flagman will then repeat his command(s), and you get to try again until your
lives are all gone. In both modes you earn one star for every 5 points,
unlike the 200 points per star in the rest of the games. You only need 25
points each to get all the stars. More detailed instructions for the two
  games are below.

  Game A
  ------
This game is a simple memorization game. The Flagman will raise some of his
limbs, showing you a number. Remember the sequence and repeat it when the
bars on the right show up. The bars will begin to disappear, and if you
don't make a move by the time they're all gone, you'll lose. If you do get
it correct, he will add one more number to the sequence and you have to do
  it again.

  Game B
  ------
This is a game of reaction time. You will see a number on the right, and you
have to push the corresponding button to make the Flagman wave the flag
before the time runs out. The 5 bars on the right are the timer. When they
all go away, time is up. As you get further into the game, it will get much
faster. If you're good at it, you should be able to get 25 points easily,
earning all 5 stars for this game.

Tips:

  - If you're having trouble remembering 25 numbers in Game A, just write them
down as you see them. This way, you can't mess up.

  - I find it confusing sometimes to remember which buttons are which numbers
since they aren't labeled. Practice often to get the hang of it.

Scoring:

Repeat the sequence in Game A ..... 1 Point
Wave the correct flag in Game B ... 1 Point

++++++++
Judge
++++++++

Controls:

  A: Hit opponent
  B: Run away
Control Pad: Use Up and Left to hit opponent, and Down and Right to run.

Gameplay:

Another reaction game. When the game starts, you will see two guys with
mallets. Then, 3 arrows will count down on the top. As soon as the last one
is gone, a number will appear above each character's head. If your number is
greater than or equal to the opponent's, quickly hit him with A. If not, run
away before he hits you with B. The game goes on until one person reaches 99
points, then it is over. Every 20 points you get, you receive 1 star for the
mode. It rounds up at 99.

Game B is a 2-player version using the link cable. I have not actually tried
it, but I believe it plays with the same rules as single player mode.

Tips:

  - You can cheat by pausing the game right as the last arrow disappears. That
way, you'll see the numbers and know exactly what to do when you unpause.

  - In 2-Player mode, you can easily get the 99 points if you and your friend
agree to let one person win.

  - Do not focus too much on hitting the opponent. Pay attention so you can
    dodge his blows effectively.

  - If your opponent accidently hits you, hit them quickly to still get more
points. You get 2 points for their mistake and 3 points for hitting them.
The computer also does this to you every time you hit them by mistake, so
    be careful.

Scoring:

Opponent accidentally hits you .. 1 Point
Opponent dodges in tie .......... 1 Point
Opponent accidentally dodges .... 2 Point
  Dodge opponent's hit ............ 2 Points
Hit the opponent ................ 3 Points

(These also apply to the computer player, you being the opponent)

+++++++
Lion
+++++++

Controls:

  A: Move left person up
  B: Move left person down
Control Pad: Move right person up and down

Gameplay:

You control two lucky zoo keepers who have to keep the lions in their cage.
You have to move both of your characters up and down to repel the lions'
attempts at escaping. The lions move up and down in the cage, and they will
try to jump out. If the zoo keeper is there to block them, they will stay in
the cage. If not, they will come out and chase you up a tree, adding one to
your miss counter. 3 misses, and you lose. All misses are erased at 200 and
  500 points.

In Game A there are 2 lions, and in Game B there are 3. When one of the
lions is about to escape, he will get near the edge before coming out. When
he does this you hear a different sound, so move the zoo keeper to his level
quickly. The lions get a little faster as the game goes on, but not by a
  considerable amount.

Tips:

  - When there are 2 lions on one side of the cage, keep the zoo keeper
between them. That way you only have to move once maximum to block their
    escapes.

  - Don't wait until a lion tries to escape to move. Keep the zoo keepers on
the same levels as the lions at all times.

Scoring:

  Repel a lion .................. 2 Points

++++++++++++++++++
Spitball Sparky
++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

A: Blow a puff of air
B: Blow a puff of air
Control Pad: Move back and forth

Gameplay:

If you've ever played Breakout, you'll notice some similarities with this
game. You are Sparky, and you must break all the square blocks on top by
blowing your ball at them. You can blow the ball when it is anywhere in the
purple area at the bottom. When you do, it will go straight up until it hits
something. The only blocks you can destroy are the square ones. Any others
are just obstacles. Once all the blocks are gone you will go to another,
  usually harder, level.

When the ball hits an object, it will bounce off at an angle. It always goes
at the same angle no matter how it hits, but it's random as to which
direction it will go. And another note, the ball can only hit the blocks
from them bottom. It just goes through them on the way down. The ball will
always go completely straight when you blow it up.

Every level has some thin, moving blocks. They are unbreakable, and often
get in your way. They move across the screen deflecting any balls that touch
them. Sometimes there will also be full lines of thin ones. These are walls
which prevent you from going past them. The very top red row occasionally
has blocks. They are behind the blue wall, and take 2 hits to destroy. The
first one makes them blink, and the second one erases them completely. If
there are 6 blocks in the red section on top and you make them all flash at
the same time, you will get a 30 point bonus.

In Game B all the breakable blocks blink. When they are not visible, the
ball will go past them. You can only hit them while they're solid. If you
get rid of all the blocks in the red section on top before the other blocks
are gone, the blinking blocks will turn solid.

On the right of the screen are 4 bars. They give you bonus points if you
have any left at the end of a level. They disappear gradually, like a timer.
There is no penalty if they all go away. If you fail to blow the ball up and
it falls to the ground, an miss icon with a cracked ball will appear on the
left. Get 3, and you lose. All misses are  erased when you get 300 points.

Tips:

  - The ball will hover in place for a little bit before falling. This
sometimes makes it look like it's not going to fall when it really is.
Just know that unless you blow it, it will fall.

  - Try to finish the levels quickly so you can get the time bonus.

Scoring:

Destroy a block in the green row .... 1 Point
Destroy a block in the blue row ..... 2 Points
Destroy a block in the red row ...... 3 Points
Time bar left at end of level ....... 5 Points (For each one left)
6 flashing blocks in red row ........ 30 Points

+++++++++++++++++
Donkey Kong II
+++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Jump
  B: Swap screen focus
  Control Pad: Move DK Jr.

Gameplay:

Mario's up to his cruel tricks again and has locked up Donkey Kong. As
Donkey Kong Jr., you must climb to the very top and unlock the 4 locks using
the keys you collect along the way. If you get hit by an enemy, you will
lose one life. Your character will disappear, and another one will start at
the beginning. When all 3 of them at the beginning are gone, you lose. At
300 points, one lost DK Jr. will be replaced. If you already had full lives,
you will get double points until you miss. Hard mode has more enemies.

First, jump up onto the playing field then jump to hit the key up to the
next level. If you don't hit the key now, you'll have to come back later. Go
to the right, jumping over any snapjaws in your way. Don't jump into any of
the sparks, though. Jump up to the vines and climb to the next level at the
end. Jump over all the sparks and make your way to the left. Jump up to the
next screen, then swap them with B. Make sure you don't pop-up under a
snapjaw. Now jump to hit the key again. It will fly over to one of the four
locks. Go over to the chain under it. Climb up it while avoiding the birds,
and you will unlock one of the locks. Then return to the beginning to get
the next key, and repeat the process. Once you unlock all 4 locks, Mario
will take DK to another identical level.

The snapjaws walk along the bottoms of both screens. You can jump over them
and continue on. On the bottom screen, there are sparks traveling along a
wire. If you jump into one from below or step on one above, it will shock
you. You can jump over them on top or run away on bottom. The birds on the
top level fly in circles around the chains. They try to hit you while you're
climbing up to the locks. Just climb up and down out of their flight paths.

Tips:

  - Don't forget to hit the key! You wouldn't want to get to the top only to
realize you have to go back to the bottom again.

  - Try to make it to the top and unlock each lock as fast as possible. The
bonus after unlocking each lock depends on how quickly you did it.

Scoring:

  Jump over a snapjaw ................. 1 Point
  Jump over a spark ................... 1 Point
Hit first key after no-miss run ..... 5 Points
Unlock one lock ..................... 5 - 15 Points depending on speed
  Unlock all 4 locks .................. 20 Points

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Fire (In the Gallery Corner)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Controls:

  A: Move right
  B: Move left
Control Pad: Move back and forth
  Start: Exit game

Gameplay:

This reversed version of Fire was never released. You have to catch the
people falling from the burning building and bounce them over to the
ambulance. Each person takes 3 bounces to get to the end. You have to move
the firemen with the trampoline back and forth to make sure none of the
people fall to the ground. If you miss one, a bandage icon will appear on
the top left. Once you miss 3, you lose the game.

If you're used to playing the normal version, it shouldn't take too much
getting used to. It plays exactly the same, just backwards. Also, since this
is not included as a full game, you can NOT pause. Pressing start will exit.
The high score is not saved, and you don't get stars from it. There is also
  no Hard mode.

Tips:

  - Take advantage of the pauses in the falls of the people. You can bounce
several people at once if you're good.

  - Each bounce is shorter, so the pattern changes a bit. When you're juggling
several people at once, you have to pay attention to the changes in their
    fall patterns.

Scoring:

Bounce one person ................... 1 Point

Tips & Attacks
--------------

Rules for Egg - Move the character in the middle so he can eat the food rolling
toward him from both sides. Don't drop any!

Modern Egg - Cookies are being baked as they run on the conveyor belt. You'd
better pick one when it is well baked. Don't eat Bob-omb, or you
            will get penalized.

Classic Egg - You can make up for a miss when you reach 200 and 500 points. If
a hen is in the upper left window, you only get half of a miss.

Rules for Greenhouse - Stop the insects from getting to the flowers. Also, eat
as many watermelons as you can.

Modern Greenhouse - You can only hit the monkey at the bottom of the rope.
Yoshi gets powered-up briefly after eating 10 watermelons.
Eat as many as you can.

Classic Greenhouse - You can make up for a miss when you gain 300 points. If
you reach 300 pts before you get a miss, your points will
be doubled until you get a miss.

Rules for Turtle Bridge - Get a packet from the man on the island to the left,
and pass it to the man on the island to the right.
Then return to the first island. Don't fall into the
                         sea!

Modern Turtle Bridge - Take the package from Mario to Peach. Collect as many
coins as you can. Watch out! The floating island falls
away if you stay too long.

Classic Turtle Bridge - In Easy Mode, few fish come from the middle row. Erase
                       a miss at 200 and 500 pts. If you haven't missed, a
short Bonus Period with no fish begins.

Rules for Mario Bros. - Move packages along the conveyor belt and load them
onto the truck. If you drop a package, you'll crush it.
To win, Mario & Luigi must cooperate.

Modern Mario Bros. - You get a star each time you fill up the truck. Get 5
stars and earn a bonus. If you get a miss before
collecting 5 stars, you lose all of your stars.

Classic Mario Bros. - 300 points will erase a miss. If you reach 300 points
before you miss, your points will be doubled.

Rules for DK Jr. - Get a key to open DK's cage! Jump or use the ivy to dodge
                  enemies.

Modern DK Jr. - Open DK's cage as quickly as you can! The quicker you open the
cage, the more pts you earn. Get the key and find a secret way
               to make the scaffold appear.

Classic DK Jr. - The quicker you get the key, the more points you earn.

Flagman - Game A: Memorize COM's flag order and repeat it. Game B: Raise the
same flag as COM, as quickly as possible. Earn a star for every 5
         points you get.

Judge - When your number is the same or larger than your opponent's, hit him!
       If it's smaller, run! 20 points = 1 star. Link-up for a two-player
       game.

Lion - Use the two men to push lions back into the cage. You can only move one
man at a time. Erase a miss each time you gain 200 and 500 points.

Spit Ball Sparky - Hit the blocks to eliminate them. When the ball is in the
third row, you can blow it up. Don't drop it! Make all 6
blocks at the top blink by hitting them.

DK II - The keys linked to the chains return to their starting point, so go get
them! Erase a miss at 300 points, or get double points without a miss.

(4.2) Gift
==============

This is where Peach presents with new games when you earn them. After you've
unlocked them all, she'll let you watch the staff or character credits. During
the credits several characters will run around screen hitting the POW block to
display the names. The cast credits seem to be only the first half. I have no
idea how to get the rest, getting 150 stars doesn't even unlock it. Anyway, I
have copied both sets of credits here for your reading pleasure.

(4.5) Secrets 1 & 2
=======================

The first pipe in the Gallery Corner tells a little known story about the game
Fire as you watch an animation, and the second lets you play a special reversed
version of it. Here is the story Secrets 1 tells:

This is "Fire," introduced in Game & Watch Gallery 1. Don't you think
something is wrong with it? The truth is, this "Fire" is reversed left to
right. This version was planned to be released as is. The LCD designer
happened to make it incorrectly. Nevertheless, the game was just as
playable. It was released as it was. So far, it seems OK. This "Fire" is now
hidden at Gallery Corner. Why don't you collect enough stars to play it.
Well, that is all I wanted to say. See you around!

Secrets
-------
Erase game data - At the title screen, push Up Up Down Down Left Left Right
                 Right. There is no confirmation.

Sixth Star - Some people think this is a secret, but I think it's just
decoration. When you get all 20 stars in one game, a big star in
the center of the scores will appear in the main game list.
There's also another small star on each of the 4 modes. Other
people seem to think there's a special way to get the star, but
I'm pretty sure it's just a little extra detail for when you beat
            the game.

Linking with G&W Gallery 1 and 2
--------------------------------
If you link with Game & Watch Gallery 1 or 2, you can unlock a full page of
Museum titles before getting 120 stars. To link with Game & Watch Gallery 1,
you must have 1000 on all 4 of its games.
