Hamha gamerz!! While I was trying to find out how and which
costumes I could get in HHG I got totally confused - I couldn't find
any accurate or complete information (and I'm not very smart), so I
thought I'd just go and find out for myself - and figured I might as
well share what I got while I was at it. This is my first attempt at
a game guide, so I hope it's OK!!
For the record, most of my data is based on the EU version of the
game. A lot of resetting and replaying was involved to be pretty sure
my data was correct - but if you notice a mistake (I am not very
smart after all!), please scroll to the bottom of this FAQ for my
contact so I can fix it!

| [02] About Costumes |

| [02.a] Costume Basics |------------------------------------------
In HHG, at the start of a completely new game, you're asked to make
a player card, consisting of your name, gender, and birthday. You
can't change these later (unless you reset the entire game), but
there are some other features of your player card you can customize
whenever - namely its description box, and your characters costume!
These cards can be exchanged by linking up with your friends, so
they can view your player card in their game. You can also exchange
costumes this way, so if you have a buddy with HHG, you should
definitely try it out!
| [02.b] Obtaining Costumes |--------------------------------------
Costumes can be obtained either through gameplay (the tournament),
or through linking up with your friends. You can't get all of the
costumes without the help of a buddy (or three), because which ones
are available to you depends on which starsign you picked.

| [03] Costume Locations |
========================
There's a few different ways to obtain costumes. Most are bought
from the Ham Shopping Network/Late Night, some can be found in the
overworld during the course of the story, a few can be found with a
lucky Ham Fortune-telling fortune, and two are special rewards.
This section serves as a more in-depth explanation of each method
and location - obtain methods are listed in the List of Costumes
section as well, so if you want a quick overview, you can skip this!
| [03.a] Postie Sample Kit |---------------------------------------
Postie shows up in the clubhouse during the 2nd day of the 1st
tournament, either after the 2nd or 3rd event, and will give you a
sample kit consisting of three costumes to start you out.
| [03.b] Ham Shopping Network |------------------------------------
Between the 2nd and 3rd event of the day, Ham Shopping Network is
on TV. Mister Matsu and a co-host will present a costume each day,
until they have sold all 12 costumes available to you. The prices go
from 40 to 150 seeds (a 10 seed raise per costume).
Depending on co-host, the price may change if you watch through to
the end of the program - but you can buy it for its original price by
pressing START before they announce a change.
- Sparkle lowers the price by 20%
- Stan returns 20% of your seeds after ordering
- Robo-Joe, the absolute madman, ups the price by 20%
There are four different sets of 12 costumes, and which one you get
depends on which starsign you picked for your player card. For the
other three sets, you'll have to link up (hope you know a Capricorn!)

| [03.c] Ham Shopping Network - Late Night |-----------------------
This program can be accessed after you've won a tournament. If you
take a nap on the bed in the Clubhouse at any point in the day before
the last event, you will see it after you go to bed that day.
It's similar to regular Ham Shopping Network, except Mister Matsu
sells five animated costumes, including those on display in the
background! Each costume costs 200 seeds, and there are no discounts.
| [03.d] Ham Fortune-telling |-------------------------------------
Between the 1st and the 2nd event of the day, Hamtarr's Ham
Fortune-telling will be on. From the 3rd day of the 1st tournament
on, depending on how they describe your fortune for the day, you may
find one of four costumes if you open a yellow box at the location
mentioned.
If your luck is "excellent", you will find one of two costumes
(Fox and Kangaroo), and after you've found both of them, seeds.
If your luck is "terrible", there will be three boxes at the
location mentioned. One of them contains one of two costumes
(Mushroom and Chicken), and after you've found both, seeds.

| TIP: You can soft-reset for the contents of the "terrible" boxes |
| by pressing A+B+START+SELECT immediately after opening a box. |
| This takes you back to the title screen, and when you reload |
| your game, the boxes will be there again and you can try again! |
| (You cant SR for your daily fortune though, so don't bother) |

After you've gotten all four Fortune-telling costumes, and bought
all Ham Shopping Network/Late Night costumes, Hamstarr's fortunes
change to not involve anymore boxes - you don't really need the seeds
after that, anyway.
| [03.e] Overworld |-----------------------------------------------
A couple of costumes can simply be found sitting around in the
overworld. Most of these are pretty straightforward, but some of them
can be easy to miss if you don't know where to look!
A few of them are available from the 3rd day of the 1st tournament
on, and after you've obtained the costumes, you can go back to these
locations to grab some seeds instead.
| Ladybug | Stadium, on the left side of the roof. You can get to |
| | it by climbing the firetruck and going left. If it |
| | flies off, simply leave the area and come back and it |
| | will be there again. |
------------------------------------------------------------------
| Eagle | Pool, on the rightmost cloud. You can get it by using |
| | The right mushroom, and walking left across the cloud |
| | you land on so a feather drops. Grab the feather. |
------------------------------------------------------------------
| Cactus | Tennis Court, interact with any of the three tall |
| | (not round!) cacti. Can only be done when the court |
| | is open for a tennis match. |
------------------------------------------------------------------
| Apple | Lawn, climb the tree on the far right to cause an |
| | apple to drop down. Pick it up for your costume. |
------------------------------------------------------------------
| Starfish | Go to the far right top corner of the beach and pick |
| | up the starfish that's sitting there, wigglin. |
------------------------------------------------------------------
The other six are the Team Djungle costumes, which you can pick up
only once each. Warts' costumes are pretty easy to find, but you only
have a small timeframe to grab the others, so don't miss it!
| Warts | Athletes' Village, in Djungle cabin, bottom right. |
| Hippo | Available from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tournament on |
| Palm Tree | respectively (after Warts changes out of them). |

| Leo | Athletes' Village, in front of the fountain. Can be |
| | Found from the 2nd tournament on, but only the 1st |
| | day, before the 1st event! Miss it, and you have to |
| | wait another tournament to grab it. |

| Stripes | These two are found the same place & method as Leo, |
| Bunny | but Stripes the tournament after you grabbed Leo's, |
| | and Bunny the one after Stripes. |

| [03.f] Special |-------------------------------------------------
There are two costumes you can only get as rewards in the game. The
Earth costume is rewarded when beating all world records! You can
also do this in Free Play. The Treasure Chest is rewarded when you
beat a tournament with all 15 gold medals. Both of them are rewarded
as a gift alongside their respective trophies.
