Welcome to this FAQ for the GameBoy Advance game Daredevil. Daredevil is
another superhero game, which probably never would've seen daylight if not for
the FOX movie Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Even though
the movie didn't perform very well at the box-office, it was apperently good
enough to warrant a GBA game.
Be warned this FAQ will contain spoilers, so if you don't want those, don't
look at this FAQ
Daredevil is a pretty basic, side-scrolling action game. It contains a lot of
thugs to beat senseless, and has the occassional bossfight. The graphics are
pretty good, and the music is fun to listen to. A special feature of the game
is the radar DD has, and you can use it to see hidden items and thugs. You can
also unlock a lot of bonus material by completing some goals, which is a nice
addition to the game, even if they're sometimes not much to look at.
The Daredevil movie (and ergo the game) is based on the popular comic by the
same name, published by Marvel. Matt Murdock saved an old man from an accident
in his younger years, but awoke in an hospital himself. Blinded. The radio-
active waste he got struck with across the face during the accident somehow
improved his remaining sense, more than compensating for his loss of sight. He
donned a costume (which was actually yellow in his first appearance) and named
himself Daredevil, after his childhood nickname (given to him to bully him;
actually meaning he was a coward because he'd rather learn than fight). He
went through college, where he met his life-long friend Foggy Nelson, and
became a succesfull lawyer later. Unknown to his partner Foggy, Matt often
dons the famous costume at night, and sets out to right wrongs as the
vigilante Daredevil. He's made a lot of enemies (like the Kingpin, Bullseye,
the Owl, Gladiator and Mr Fear), but also made some good friends (like Spider-
man, Foggy, Black Widow and Karen Page). The comic still remains popular these
days.

| VERSION HISTORY |=============================0003

Version 0.4 - 27-7-2005
Added a lot of information already. I only need to finish the main walkthrough
and the enemy list, and probably update some other sections.
The controls for this game are pretty easy to learn, but it's important to use
the right move at the right moment. I've divided this section into two sub-
sections, one for basic controls and one for advanced moves.
Directional Pad(+): this moves Daredevil around. Pressing down will make him
duck, pressing left will make him run to the left and pressing right will make
him run to the right. Pressing up is useless. You also use this button to
select different options in the Main Menu.
A Button: This is used for jumping. Pressing A again while jumping makes you
doublejump, which is very useful for reaching difficult areas. Press A at the
highest point of your jump to get the most height out of your jump.
B Button: This is your attack button. Pressing it will unleash an attack,
which one depends on what other button you press (look at advanced moves for
more info).
L Button: This button activates your radar mode. While in radar mode, enemies
and items will have bright colors, while the background is just grayish. Use
this mode to see hidden items. You cannot stay in radar mode indefinetely; you
have a limited time to spend in there. Look at the white bar at the top left
corner of the screen to see how much time you have left (it refills while in
"normal" mode).
R Button: This will make you hit with your Billyclub. It doesn't have a far
reach, and it takes some time between hits. Using your fists is faster, but
you can upgrade this attack with the Billyclub item, which is scattered around
the levels (look at advanced moves for more info).
Start Button: This pauses the game. In the pause screen, you can see how many
DD-icons you have collected in that level, as well as look at the current
password. You can also quit the game here and return to the Main Menu.
Daredevil has a nice set of moves. He can use kicks, punches and throw his
club at enemies. Look here to see how to do each one.
Punch: press the B button.
Left-right punch: press the B button twice.
Left-right-uppercut combo: press the B button three times. This combo is very
useful. It's pretty powerful, as you can do it again immediately after the
enemy gets up from the previous combo.
Jumpkick: jump up and press B. You cannot double jump anymore after kicking.
This is useful for attacking enemies who are right above you.
Flying Kick: jump while running, then press B. This is a very good technique
to enter a fight. When hit, the enemy will fall, giving you time to either
take on another enemy or place yourself in a good position to attack again.
Groundkick: duck by pressing down, then press B to kick. This move makes
enemies fall down, which is handy.
The Hurricane: okay, I came up with this name myself ;). Run for a moment,
then press B to fly spinning towards your enemy with both legs straight. This
is a very powerful attack, as it drops the enemy and usually takes away half
his energy. Don't run for too long, because if you do and press B then, you
will simply punch.
Billyclub Throw: first, get the Billyclub item in the level. There usually are
multiple of these in one level. Once you've got one, press the R button to
throw your club at enemies. If they hit an enemy, they will be stunned for a
moment. It's very useful for taking out enemies who throw stuff (like grenades
or shuriken) at you.
DD-token (a red DD).
Every level has a few of these tokens. Collect them all for some secrets to
unlock. You can press Start while playing to see how many you have for that
level, and see how many you still need.
Billyclub (a red stick).
Take these for temporary power-ups. Your stick (used with the R button) will
improve for a short time.
Health (a white box with a green cross).
Sometimes enemies will drop these boxes. Take them to get some lost health
back. If your health if full, you can't pick them up.
DD mask (a red mask which looks like the face of Daredevil).
Picking up this (often well-hidden) item grants you an extra life.
Pidgeon (a red pidgeon with a blue block behind it).
Gives you a golden glow and temporarely gives all of your attacks more power.
It's now easier to defeat enemies.
Crate (a big, white box)
You cannot pick up this item, but you can break it by hitting it four times.
Sometimes there's some health or a DD-icon in there, but I also found some
enemies in there.
DD shield (a small, golden shield which has the initials DD on it)
Picking up this item temporarely transforms you into a blue, but invincible,
Daredevil. You cannot be harmed by enemies, but if you fall of a building or
something you'll still die, obviously.
Arrow (a small, red arrow)
If you see this item, you know you're almost there. Walk over it (or near it)
to exit the stage you're in.
This is a list of the characters appearing in the game. I've listed them in
the order they appear in, and added some information about the, I basically
used my own comic knowledge to create this list, so it's very well possible
I've added something that isn't said in the game. Ah wee, all the more
information, right?
Daredevil
This is you, controlling the hero of the game. Read the piece I wrote about
him in the introduction of the FAQ for some more info.
Stick
This is DD's teacher. He taught Matt how to deal with his enhanced senses, as
well as some cool techniques. He's like a father figure to Matt.
Elektra
Matt and Elektra had an odd relation. They fell in love, but seperated when
Matt chose to save someone's life instead of helping her. She even died
(killed by Bullseye), but was brought back from the grave and trained by the
Hand (a ninja organisation). She's very dangerous, but still has a weak spot
for Daredevil.
Foggy
Matt met Foggy first in college, were they both studied law. Foggy is a bit of
a fat guy, but with a heart of gold. They now run a law company together. In
this game, he's unaware Matt is Daredevil.
Kirigi
Kirigi was summoned by the Hand to defeat Daredevil and Elektra. He's an
extremely powerfull ninja, and is exceptionally well trained in various
martial arts. He can heal himself, and can stand great pains. He has even been
resurrected by the Hand once.
Stage 1
As the game begins, you will be treated to some stills from the movie. They
don't add anything to game, so if you've seen the movie you might as well
press Start to skip them. Or watch them, if you prefer.
After the pictures, the game will open with a screen of Daredevil and his
teacher Stick. Stick tells you the Kingpin has made you a target, which
basically means every thug will attack you. He also tells you you should find
Elektra; she's in Hell's Kitchen too and has been seen with the Kingpin. After
that, a thug tells you Elektra warned them you'd show up, and tells you the
bounty will be harder to collect than you think. Then the game finally begins
for real.
There are two thugs right in front of you, and one of them has a bat. Take
them out, then keep walking to the right. You'll come across a crate; smash it
for a DD-token. Walk past the two stoners and you'll get attacked again.
Defeat the two punks and walk to the right for a new Billyclub. Take it (you
can now throw your club to temporary stun your enemies) and walk to the right.
See the Daredevil mask? Well, it's an extra life so take it. There are three
enemies there, so fight them. Watch out for the big guy, as he packs quite a
punch. Use you Billyclub to stun them before taking them out. After they're
all gone, take a moment to look at your head. Do you notice the radar icon?
Well, press the L Button to see what's so important here. Take the hidden
pidgeon and keep going to the right. Look everybody, it's Elektra! She tells
you you've sold out, but we accuse her of the exact same thing. Ha, in her
face! She then dissappears and leaves us to our business. Go to the right to
find the exit of the stage, but make sure to pick up the DD-icon above the
arrow first.
Stage 2
A punk asks you if you're looking for somebody, so reply with fist in his
face. Take out his buddy with the bat too, just to be sure. Walk to the edge
of the roof, then jump to the right to get the pidgeon there. Look out,
because there's a thug waiting for you. Take him, then take out the lone thug
with the bat on the right. Don't fall down between the two buildings here, but
jump to the right and stand next to the crate. Double jump to get to the
platform above you, then double jump a bit to the right to get your first DD-
icon. Go back to the platform and take the DD mask for an extra life. Look out
for the gunman there (it's safest to just ignore him). Drop back on the crate,
drop down to the left and break the crate (there just might be some health in
it). Now take out the goons to the right, but don't go too far to the right;
let them come to you. When they're finished you can move to the right, where
there's a gunman waiting for you. Take him out and move to the right where
there's a ladder.
Climb up the ladder (as the arrow below suggested) and take out the gunman and
the punk. Now stand on the right edge of the roof and press the L button to go
into radarmode. You'll see the DD mask on the right, but there's no way to
reach it. Or is there? Jump to the right and you'll notice a big, ugly guy.
Kick his butt and stand on the left crate you see. Double jump straight up and
you'll hang of some kind of ledge. Now jump up to get the mask. But wait,
there's more! Notice the some ledge on your right? Jump towards it and you
should hang on it. Keep doing this and you'll be rewarded by two health boxes.
When you've reached the last one, you can jump up for a DD-icon! When you're
done just drop down and break the crates there (there's a punk with a bat in
the most right crate, for some reason). When you're done, don't forget to look
behind the most right Gargoyle with your radar and pick up the DD-icon there.
Now climb back up the ladder to the big cola billboard (on the roof where the
gunman was). Next to this billboard (to the right) is another one of those
ledges. Double jump between the two windows to hang from it, then follow the
path of ledges to get to another DD-icon. Sweet! Now get back to that rooftop,
young man!
Walk to the left, but don't jump to the other building. Instead, drop down to
the left where the Billyclub is. There are three crates there, so smash them
and don't forget to take the club too. Move to the left and jump off the side
to get your fourth DD-icon. Look out after you've dropped down, because
enemies will have respawned there (a punk, a big punk and a punk with a
knife). Make it back to the cola billboard (via the ladder) and defeat the
thug with the bat. Defeat the other thug you see and jump to the left
building. There's a Billyclub there, so I suggest you take it and use it on
the two thugs there. Jump to the right and break the crates -the first crate
has a thug in it- (if you want, you can jump to the roof to fight a gunman and
get a Billyclub, but it's not necassary). Follow the green arrow and jump to
the right, clinging to the ladder there. Climb up and use your radar to find a
DD shield, then take out the thugs. Keep going to the right to find Elektra,
who talks to you for a moment, and then jumps away. Jump to the right (near
the arrow) to complete the level.
Stage 3
This stage starts you on top of a car, which is a nice variation. If you jump
in the air, you will land on the place you jumped from, so don't worry about
falling down much. If you happen to fall on the road, don't worry: it's easy
to jump back to a car and it won't do you much damage. Start by jumping to the
next car and stand on the crate. Jump to get the Billyclub, don't break the
crate unless you won't to fight a thug. You can use the Billyclub to hit the
thug on the next car, because it would be safer to jump there if the thug with
the knife is stunned. If you don't have the Billyclub, just jump towards him
and kcik him in the air. Either way, get over there and take him out. Walk to
the right and stand on the hood of the gray car you're on (that way you won't
get hurt by the grenades thrown by the thug on the next truck). Wait until the
thug has thrown a grenade, then quickly jump up there with your boot forward.
Take him out and walk to the right. There's a pretty easy thug there, so take
him out and move to the hood of the truck. Jump to the next car (break the
crate if you wish), then jump to the next one. Break the crate, take the
Billyclub and use the same technique for the guy with the grenades as before.
After taking out the grenade guy, take out the punk with the bat to the right.
As you probably already had noticed, your radar sense is bleeping. Press L to
go into radar mode, then jump to get the DD-icon. After that, walk to the hood
of the truck and jump on the gray car to the right. Jump to the next car and
beat the punk with the knife there. Jump to the next car, break the crate and
take the Billyclub. To the right is a big truck, so jump on it. There are
three punks there, so take them out. After that, look at your head. Oops, the
radar sense is tingling! Press L and jump to the left for a DD-mask and jump
straight up for a DD-icon! After that, jump to the next car. Break the crate,
then jump to the next car, where you should jump for a DD-icon and jump again
for a Billyclub. Use that Billyclub to stun the grenade-tossing guy, then jump
up the truck and stun the big guy too. Take them both out and walk to the
right to complete the stage.
Stage 4
Hey, it's Elektra! Looks like she wants a fight...
There are no DD-icons in this level, only a blackhaired ninja who wants to
kick out butt. She's very fast, and blocks a lot of attacks. The trick is to
let her come close, perhaps even take a few hits, then quickly start hitting
her. After a few hits, you'll break through her blocks and start connecting.
She'll only take a few hits, then she's gone again. Just keep doing the same
routine, and you should be able to beat her. There's some health in the right
corner and the high left corner (above the left crate). There's also a Pidgeon
in the top right corner (above another crate).
Once you've hit her enough, the screen will turn blue and Elektra will snap
out of her hypnosis. She will explain a bit more of Kingpin's plans, about how
the Kingpin will say he paid Daredevil for defeating thugs and then she leaves
again.
Stage 5
We're in our civvies now, and acting as district attorney Matthew Murdock. The
radio in your office tells you about Wilson Fisk, and Foggy talks a bit about
it. You don't believe the Kingpin paid Daredevil, because he didn't pay you.
Then there's a newsflash about someone on the docks wanting to meet you. You
think it just might be Kirigi and the Hand organization. Kirigi meets you
there, and if you are telling the truth, you should take them down. Right...
We're back in our red, horned costume and it's time to defeat some ninjas!
Look out for those ninjas, because some of them can throw shuriken at you.
Jump over them or duck to avoid them. First, take out the ninja at the right,
then press L to go into radar mode. Take the Billyclub in the air and defeat
the big guy and the ninja (look out for his sais!). Keep walking and break the
crate for your first DD-icon. In the next crate is a ninja with two katanas,
so it's probably best not to break it. Keep walking and defeat the thug with a
knife. To the right is another ninja with sais, defeat him and take the DD-
icon you see in the air. Keep standing on the crate, then duck and kick to
easily defeat the thug there. Jump and get the Billyclub, then defeat the
ninja. To the right is a punk with a gun, so look out. After his defeat, go
into radar mode and get the DD-icon at the top of the small building.
Go right and defeat the big guy. To the right is another big guy, a thug with
a knife and a thug with a bat. Use a hit'n run technique (use the Hurricane,
then run back and do it again) to defeat them, then go into radar mode to get
the last two DD-icons (to get the last one, double jump from the second
crate). Defeat the ninja with the chain (look out for it, as it has quite a
reach), then keep walking and defeat the thug with the knife and another
ninja. Then go into the boat (as indicated by the red arrow).
Stage 6
You're greeted by Kirigi, who tells you you might have some honor left.
Apperently he hasn't, because as soon as he's done he runs away, leaving you
with a boat filled with ninjas.
If you look to the right, you can see a ninja hiding behind a pipe. Don't let
him fool you, but kill him. Take the DD-icon above you, then kill the next
ninja (look out for his shuriken). Take the Billyclub and jump on the crate.
Duck and kick to defeat the thug there easily, then just keep moving. Use your
radarsense to see the Billyclub, then take out the ninja with the chain.
Defeat the next ninja (with the sais) and jump on the crate you see to the
right. Use your radar mode, then double jump to get the DD-icon. Break the
crate you used for another DD-icon. Jump to the right for a DD-mask. Defeat
the punk and the shuriken throwing ninja, then double jump near the most right
pillar to get another DD-icon. Defeat the next ninja and jump for the healt if
you need it. Take the Billyclub and defeat the ninja. Press L to go into radar
mode and take the DD-icon in the air. Stay in radar mode, because there's
another DD-icon a bit to the right. Defeat the three ninjas, then jump near
the first pillar to get another DD-icon. Keep walking to the right to find the
arrow, which also happens to be your exit.
Stage 7
Hey, it's Kirigi again! He accuses you again, and runs away. What a pansy!
