2. Controls
============

***********
Pitching:
***********

Up/Down (before pitch): Select Pitch Type (Heat, Slow Ball, etc).
A: Select Pitch
Control Pad: Move Pitch Locator (where you pitch the ball)
B: Cancel Pitch
Start: Pause Game

***********
Fielding:
***********

Control Pad: Move Fielder (one that is closest to the ball)
A: Throw Ball to pitcher
A + Control Pad: Throw to fielder (down to Home Plate, right for 1st bade, up
for 2nd bade, and left for third base)

To catch a fly ball, get under the target in the field (where the ball will
land), and you should catch it.

Batting:

Up/Down: Select Bat Type (Power, Line Drive, etc)
A: Swing Bat
Control Pad: Select Batting Stance

**********
Running:
**********

Note that this is when you're up to bat and the ball is hit in the field:

A: Advance Runner
B: Retreat Runner
Control Pad: Change which runner to retreat/advance (right for First Base, Up
for Second Base, and Left for Third Base).

Also, to check which runner you're advancing, look at the map when the ball is
hit. The runner that has a Big Star is the one that can be controlled (the map
corresponds the field, and shows where the runners are).

To steal bases, you must be at bat. First, hold R and press the button you wish
for the runner to steal (right for First, Up for Second Base, and left for
Third Base). Then, when the picture pitches the ball, the runner will advance.

3. Options
===========

Main Menu:

Quick Play: Plays a Random Game

Home Run Derby: Lets you play a Home Run Derby where you try and hit Home Runs.
You select the game type, opponent (optional), and the field.

Single Game: Lets you play a solo game where you select the team you are and
who you play against. This does not count to the standings.

Season Play: Lets you play a full season. If you're starting a New Season,
create your name and team, and pick the players you want to have on your team.
Otherwise, Load your current season, and continue where you are.

Multiplayer: To do Multiplayer, you need to GameBoy Advances, a GameBoy Advance
Link Cable, and two Backyard Baseball game paks. Using Multiplayer, you can
trade players with someone, do a Home Run Derby against each other, or play
against each other Head to Head.

Note: If you are having problems with Multiplayer, then it may be one of these
things:

1. You are using something other than a GameBoy Advance Link Cable
2. One of the GameBoy Advances does not have a Backyard Baseball game pak in
it.
3. Someone could've turned off the power.
4. There is a loose socket in one of the Link Cable connections.

Also, to determine who is Player 1 and Player 2, the purple end of the Link
Cable is Player One, and the gray end of the Link Cable (connected to the
GameBoy Advances for both ends) is Player 2.

Options: Allows you to modify the game's options. To modify them, use Left and
Right on the Control Pad. Here they are:

Sound: Allows you to turn Sound Effects On and Off.
Music: Allows you to turn Music On and Off.

Swing Spot: Turn Swing Spot On and Off. This tells you where the batter thinks
the ball will cross the plate.

Pitch Locator: Turn Pitch Locator On and Off. Shows where the ball will be
thrown by the pitcher when you're at bat. If it is outside the square, don't
swing, otherwise, give it a go.

Innings: Select if you want 6 or 9 Innings in the game.

Errors: Turn Errors On and Off. Turning them On means that people will drop the
ball, etc during gameplay.

Difficulty: Set the Difficulty between Tee-Ball, Easy, Medium, and Hard.

Credits: Shows who made this game.

Help: Shows Gameplay Help.

Now, back to the Main Menu Options:

Cards: Shows the players and describes them and their ratings. To see the
player names in this, check my Teams/Players/Fields section. Also, in this
section, you can scroll between the players by pressing Right and Left, also
you can get to some quicker by sorting them (best to worst Batting, etc.

Note: Pretend you pick the Boston Red Sox as your team to play, and you select
Nomar Garciaparra. That player will receive a statistics bonus because he is on
the same team he is on Major League Baseball.

Also, you won't play/see all the teams during a season, because there are so
many teams and there isn't enough players for each team, so they randomly
select teams you play against.

Another Note: Some players in this game aren't even from Major League Baseball.
They are people InfoGrames created. So for the player lists, I listed them as
"backyarder"
