===============================================================================
1) THE STORY                                                           [X-STO]
===============================================================================

Please note that this story is the same one in the Spiderman: The Movie
Instruction Booklet.

Bitten by a genetically altered spider, Peter Parker develops extraordinary
spider-like powers. After the tragic death of his uncle, Peter dedicates his
life to fighting crime. As Spider-Man, he begins his crime-fighting career
by patrolling the city, searching for wrongs to right. Spidey deals with
thugs if every variety on a daily basis-muggers, pickpockets, and burglars
are all in a day's work. However, lately it seems that a crime wave has
blanketed the city and there is some yet unknown sinister mastermind behind
it. Can our web-slinging hero put a stop to this crime spree and uncover the
villain behind it? Will his spider abilities be enough? Stay tuned and start
playing to find out...

===============================================================================
2) CHARACTERS                                                          [X-CHA]
===============================================================================

The descriptions of the main characters are in my own words, but the
descriptions of the bosses (except for the Green Goblin) were taken out of
the Instruction Booklet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.1) MAIN CHARACTERS                                                   [X-MAC]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PETER PARKER
The guy who started it all. As said in the above story, Peter Parker used to
live as a normal citizen of New York City (living as a photographer) until a
genetically engineered spider bit him. Since then, he has developed spider
powers. When he sees trouble anywhere, his alter ego pops out, known as...

SPIDERMAN
Dedicated to crime fighting, Spiderman patrols the city in search of any
trouble to stop. No one knows who he really is, as he wears a cool costume
to hide his identity. Occasionally in his adventures, he meets...

MARY JANE
Mary Jane gets kidnapped a fair few times in the game, and it's Spiderman's
job to rescue her from those situations. She falls in love with Spiderman
after the first time he saves her, but before that actually happens,
Spiderman has to get his way through all of his enemies.

NORMAN OSBORN
The guy in charge of the crime wave that's been through the city. He loves
power more than money, and owns (well, co-owns) a military high-tech
corporation. After a while, he finds out that the "human performance
enhancer" formula he's been trying to perfect can't go any further unless
it's tested on a human being. So he volunteers to test it, and so the
formula gives him super powers and brings out his inner-self...

GREEN GOBLIN
Spiderman's arch-enemy. This guy has the cutting edge of technology that any
super-villain could have. His weaponry includes Pumpkin Bombs, Gas Bombs and
Electro-Gloves. And did I mention he has the Goblin Glider?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.2) BOSSES                                                            [X-BOS]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please note that the Green Goblin is not here; he is listed under the 'Main
Characters' section.

VULTURE
Originally an electrical engineer, Adrian Toomes was also a budding inventor
of considerable skill. Early in his career he created an electro-
magnetically powered harness that gave the ability of flight to anyone who
wore it. The power he felt after donning the device led him down the dark
path of crime and corruption, resulting in the birth of the Vulture.

SHOCKER
An unsuccessful burglar, Herman Shultz developed the infamous Vibro-Shock
units during an extended stay in prison. The Shocker, Herman's alter-ego,
uses two Vibro-Shock units that attach to his hands and forearms to create
high-pressure air blasts which are very powerful and very destructive. The
units can also create a vibrational shield that deflects blow aimed at him.
When coupled with a uniform of foam-lined fabric (that absorbs the impact
caused by his Vibro-Shock units), he can be a very difficult foe to deal
with.

SCORPION
MacDonald "Mac" Gargan became the Scorpion after chemical and radiological
treatments caused a mutagenic change in his DNA. Similar to Spider-Man,
Mac's mutated DNA imbued him with super-human strength, speed, and agility.
Shortly after his mutation, Gargan was physically bonded to a bio-mechanical
battlesuit created specially for him. It was at this time that the Scorpion
was truly "born". Attached to his battle armor is a 7 foot long tail, which
is cybernetically controlled. The tip of his tail has a spike that can fire
force blasts. Scorpion is one tough customer, so try not to make him mad...

M.E.C.H. (MEGA ELECTRIC CREATURE HUNTER)
The Mega HK unit was devised by Norman Osborn to track down and "remove" any
threat to his company. It is the ultimate robotic sentry. Watch out for this
one, Spidey!

KRAVEN
The son of a Russian aristocrat, Sergei Kravinoff found he had a great
talent at an early age-hunting. After meeting a witch doctor on an
expedition in Africa, Kraven ingested a herbal potion which enhanced his
physical powers. Kraven is swifter than the falcon and more agile than a
jungle cat.

===============================================================================
3)  ENEMIES                                                            [X-ENE]
===============================================================================

HAND-TO-HAND THUG
HTHTs don't carry any weapons, so instead they use their bare fists. They tend
to approach when they see you.

GRENADE THUG
These guys throw grenades at you. Crouching down can help when a grenade
comes your way.

PROJECTILE THUG
Timing is important when you're trying to kill these guys. They use guns,
but occasionally they run out of ammo. So once they are reloading their
weapon, that is the time for you to hit them.

HUNTER KILLER UNITS (HKU's)
These tiny mechanical spiders track you down by detecting your arachnid DNA.
One hit kills the small HKU's, causing a small explosion which doesn't harm
you. The big HKU's, however... they take quite a few more hits from you
before you can actually destroy them. When they're about to be destroyed,
get ready to run, because *their* explosions can harm you.

CHAINSAW JUGGLERS
Chainsaw Jugglers are not mentioned in the Instruction Booklet, so I thought
I would include them in here. These guys are so annoying. They juggle chainsaws
and once in a while, they accidentally (yeah, right) drop a chainsaw. The
chainsaw will then follow you around, so run away from it.

===============================================================================
5) ON-SCREEN DISPLAY                                                   [X-OSD]
===============================================================================

This section explains what you see on-screen in the game.

-----------
MAIN MENU
-----------

START
Select Start to start a new game. Select a game slot to use (there are 3
slots to choose from) at the Start Menu. Then enter a name you would like to
go by. You can only have 3 letters for your name, so it's best just to put
in your initials.

If you select a save slot that already has a saved game, the game will ask
you if you want to replace it. Deleted games cannot be restored.

LOAD GAME
Select this option if you want to load a previous game that you have saved.
When you load a saved game, you will begin at the last level you started.
Also, at the Load Game menu you can choose to delete previous saved games.
Deleted games cannot be restored.

OPTIONS
Select this option to turn the music/sound on or off. The game credits can
also be viewed here.

SECRETS
Select this option to disable/enable any of the secrets you have unlocked.
If you haven't unlocked any secrets, highlight one and press A. The game
will then show you what the secret is and how to unlock it.

----------
GAMEPLAY
----------

HEALTH WEB
You can find your health web at the bottom left corner of the screen. Each
triangle in the web represents one health point. You can tell if you have
any points by looking to see if any triangles in your health web are filled.
If your whole health web is empty, then you lose a life.

ENEMY (BOSS) HEALTH
When fighting a boss enemy, you can view their health by looking at the
health bar that will appear at the bottom center of the screen.

SCORE
The Score Counter will keep track of your score throughout each of the
levels. You can see it at the bottom right corner of the screen.

CAMERA
A flashing camera icon will appear on the screen whenever you have found a
place where you have to take a picture. To take a picture, press the Select
button when the camera icon appears. You only have 5 seconds to take a
picture, so move fast. When you have taken all of the pictures on a level,
you get to unlock a movie shot from the movie.

SPIDER SENSE
Your Spider Sense will flash at certain times to warn you if there is
danger, a secret, or even a mission objective nearby.

WEB UP
You will know what current web-up you have by looking at the upper right
hand corner of the screen to see which one you have. Next to the web-up icon
it will show how many shots you have left. If you have run out of shots for
a particular one, a message on the screen saying "NO SHOTS LEFT" will warn
you.

LIVES
Look at the upper left corner of the screen, and you will see Spiderman's
mask. Next to it should be a number. The number that is displayed tells you
how many lives you have left. The number of lives you have will only be
displayed at the start of a level, when you restart a level, or when you go
back to gameplay from the Pause screen.

===============================================================================
6) ITEMS                                                               [X-ITE]
===============================================================================

There are many items on the ground. These include power-ups, web-ups, spin
points, life-ups and others, so I have made this section to list all of the
ones in the game.

---------
WEB UPS
---------

Web-ups let you have various attacks. Each web-up has a limited number of
times that you can use it, so it is best to use them only when you are in a
tough situation. You can use the current web-up that you have by pressing
the L Button. I've listed all of the web-ups in order from what I think are
bad to good. There are seven web-ups in total, each with its different
function, so it's good to know what each web-up does:

Power Web (10 Shots)
This is the basic web-up that you can have. It does not have a lot of power,
but it can be useful when you're trying to slow enemies down (i.e. Kraven).
When you use this web-up, a hardened ball of web is unleashed.

Net Blast (10 Shots)
Another basic web-up. Pretty useless I would say, but if you can't find any
other web-ups around apart from this one, then use it. When fired, a web-
line is made. When aimed at an enemy, the enemy is dragged right next to you
and is immobilized.

Bomb Web (10 Shots)
When fired, a web bomb is released that causes a lot of damage to your
enemies. Yes, I know that this web-up is very powerful, but the reason that
I put it here is because the web bombs can bounce, and can sometimes go over
the enemy you were aiming for.

Web Shield (10 Shots)
A cocoon-like shield is formed when this web-up is used. It blocks all
attacks from all enemies for about three seconds. You can also press the B
Button continuously before the three-second time limit is over.

Sticky Web (10 Shots)
Another version of the Net Blast, only when you aim at an enemy, the enemy
isn't dragged over to you. Enemies that are hit will be tangled up in a
sticky web and captured.

Invulnerable (5 Shots)
Some might say "Hey! Why would you put Invulnerable there? It's very
useful!" I would say that this *is* a very useful web-up, only I put it here
because you only get 5 shots for it. When used, it makes you invulnerable to
all attacks for about 5 seconds.

Arachnid Strength (10 Shots)
Now this is what I'm talking about. Like I said before, don't be tempted to
use up all of your web-ups at once; and I must admit that this is one of
those web-ups that needs a good situation to be used. Anyway, when this is
used, you get increased strength for about 5 seconds.

-----------
POWER UPS
-----------

Red Health Up
Red health ups look like red crosses (like the ones you see on a 1st Aid
kit). It gives you 25% of your health back. This power-up will do nothing if
you are already at full health.

Blue Health Up
Look like blue crosses. This power-up will give you 50% of your health back.
It will not do anything if you are already at full health.

Life Up
These look like Spiderman's mask. They give you one free life. Also, for
every 30,000 points you earn during game play, you are awarded one
additional life.

Golden Spiders
Not exactly power-ups, but useful nevertheless. Each level (except for Boss
and Bonus levels) has a certain amount of Golden Spiders. For each Golden
Spider you collect, you receive 500 points. Collect all of the Golden
Spiders on a level and you will receive something (I won't tell what). Also,
collect all of the Golden Spiders in all of the levels and you will be
awarded Armor Upgrade.

---------------
MISCELLANEOUS
---------------

KEYS
To unlock certain doors, keys are needed to be found. There are four
different-colored keys: red, blue, purple and green.

SPIN POINTS
Spin points are blue circle things that you can attach your web-line to.
When your web-line is attached to one of these, you can spin around them to
get those hard-to-reach places. While you are spinning, press Up or Down to
move yourself closer or further away to the Spin Point. Sometimes the only
way to certain Golden Spiders is to use Spin Points.

===============================================================================
7) WALKTHROUGH                                                         [W-WAL]
===============================================================================

A couple of notes before I start:

- Bonus Levels are not included here. They are covered in an entirely different
section; see the Table of Contents (code: X-TAC).
- Usually, just before starting a level and right after finishing one, a scene
will come up. The dialogue in these scenes can be found throughout the
walkthrough, set apart from the rest of the walkthrough information by a box.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.1) LEVEL 1: CRIME SPREE!                                             [W-L01]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 50   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 1

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPIDERMAN: I learned the hard way... with great power also comes great
          responsibility...
So I patrol the city, and do what I can to keep people safe.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

While on patrol, Spiderman encounters a group of thugs causing trouble.
Rescue the hostages before time runs out!
                                  _____

This level is a good training level for you to learn more about this game.
Around the level you will automatically stop when the game shows you some
information. For example, right at the beginning, if you move forward
(right) you will stop and the game says 'Press A to jump. While in the air
press A again to begin web swinging.'

So anyway, on this level you have to free four hostages from the bad guys.
They are all over the city, but not very hard to find them. If you really
want to know where they are, look below. Alternately, look for them
yourself.

Hostage 1: I think this first hostage is around the middle of the level
somewhere. You'll know what I'm talking about if you go to the place where
there are many cranes or poles around. To the right of them is a building.
On top of the building is the first hostage.

Hostage 2: If you can remember clearly from what I said above, there is a
building to the right of some cranes. Well, to the right of that building is
a large sign that says 'Mazzotta MAC & CHEESE' on it. Under that sign is the
second hostage.

Hostage 3: Do you remember the large sign I was talking about? Well, to the
right of that sign there is another building with two orangey-colored cars
inside it. On top of the building is the third hostage. Only one more to go!

Hostage 4: To the right of the building with the two orangey-colored cars in
it is another building. On top of the building, you should find the fourth
and final hostage - hooray!

After you have rescued all four hostages, keep on going to the right of the
level and you will finish it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.2) LEVEL 2: THE CRADLE WILL FALL                                     [W-L02]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 30   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 1

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPIDERMAN: Now why would someone blow up this perfectly good building?
MAN: Make sure that freak doesn't make it out of here alive...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This building is going to collapse: whether you're in it or not. Better get
out fast!!!
                                  _____

As said above, the building you're in is about to collapse. The way out is
in a zigzag kind of route: You start from the left, go to the right, go
down, move to the left, go down, move to the right, and so on.

Watch out for the following:

- Enemies in the hallways
- Steam coming out from the floor of the hallways
- Mines (you can tell there are mines around by looking on the ground and
 seeing green bulbs)
- Concrete walls (break these to get to the next section of a hallway)
- Electric Holes (fall into one of these and you get electrocuted)

Near the end of the level, there is a maze of pipes. The way out is to make
your way to the LEFT of the pipe maze (watch out for the steam that comes
out from the pipes).

And that about covers the whole level. Just think fast, move fast, and use
common sense.

7.3) BOSS LEVEL: VULTURE DESCENDS                                      [W-BVD]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To fight Vulture, you have to move to the right first. You will come across
him, and somehow awaken him from his sleep.

Vulture is one easy customer. Just hit him, and he'll fall to your awesome
power. Always stay on the ground, so you can get an almost clear picture as
to where he is. When he pecks you, just hit him with a QCF (Quarter Circle
Forward) or some good fighting combos. At times, he will grab you, fly up,
and let you go, expecting that you'll hurt yourself when you land - just
swing to a nearby building when this happens.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeated him...

SPIDERMAN: Alright birdman, what gives? What were you after?
VULTURE: You're wasting your time, fool. I'll not talk, and we already
           have  everything we came for.
SPIDERMAN: Keeping secrets is going to do you a lot of good in jail. Enjoy
           your stay.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile...

NORMAN OSBORN: Excellent. This 'Spiderman' may be just what we need to
               finish the project.
SCIENTIST: But how do we capture him? He is quite formidable.
NORMAN OSBORN: With prey this deadly we would need an even deadlier hunter.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.4) LEVEL 3: DOCK WORK                                                [W-L03]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 30   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 1

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PETER PARKER'S BOSS: Parker!
       PETER PARKER: Yes, Mr Jameson?
PETER PARKER'S BOSS: There's been an attack at Bio-Tech's Waterfront
facility. They're threatening to release a strange gas
on the city. Go get some pictures of those crooks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks like the bad guys are planning to use the gas in these green
containers on the citizens of New York. Destroy all of the green gas containers
before they can be used on innocent people.
                                  _____

The object of this level is to destroy the green gas barrels that contain
the harmful green gas in them. I'll use the abbreviation 'GGB' throughout
this sub-section which stands for 'Green Gas Barrel(s)' respectively. There
are four GGB in total, and they are scattered all around the level just like
the hostages in Level 1 (Crime Spree). So here I go...

GGB 1: At the beginning of the level, go to the right and you should find a
red barrel right under a platform. Go on top of the platform and you should
find an enemy wearing a white shirt and blue pants. Kill him. Above you, you
should find another platform. Go onto it, and you should find two enemies;
one with a flamethrower and one that throws grenades. Kill both of them, and
near the left end of the platform you are currently on you should find GGB
1. Destroy it, and then STAY ON THE PLATFORM.

GGB 2: Go to the right, and you should find a crane. Go on top of it, and
you should find a guy that has a white shirt and blue pants. Kill him. To
the right of the crane there are three raised platforms. Go on the topmost
one, and you should find GGB 2. STAY ON THE PLATFORM.

GGB 3: Do you remember that I said above there were three raised platforms?
Well, this time go on the lowest one. There you should discover GGB 3. STAY
ON THE PLATFORM.

GGB 4: Swing to the right, and you should land on a platform where a guy is
throwing grenades. Kill him, and take one swing to the right. You should
then find GGB 4. This GGB should be positioned like this:
                          ___ ___
                         |   |   |
                         |RB |RB |    GGB – Green Gas Barrel
                         |___|___|     RB - stands for Red Barrel
                         |   |   |
                         |GGB|RB |
                         |___|___|

Destroy GGB 4, and then swing to the very right of the level to complete it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.5) LEVEL 4: FROM STEM TO STERN                                       [W-L04]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 30   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 3

There are more Green Gas Containers on this ship! Destroy all of the
containers of gas before they can be used on innocent people.
                                  _____

Your mission is back, and bigger than ever. This time there are ten GGB to
destroy, with more (or less) obstacles between you and them. And so, here I
go again...

GGB 1: You start at the beginning. Move to the right and you should find an
enemy with a red shirt on. Kill him so he shouldn't bother you, and destroy
the GGB that should be very close to you.

GGB 2: Climb up the four stacks of containers (not barrels), and on top of
the fourth one, there should be a guy with a white shirt and blue pants (do
they ever change their clothes)? Kill him. Move to the right and a very
large pole thingy should be there. Climb up it, and you will see a big box
thingy on top of the pole. On top of the box thing, there should be a blue
health-up. Move to the right, and you should see four stacks of containers.
Go up to the topmost one, then jump to the right to find a guy with a
flamethrower - kill him. Jump to the right again and you should land on a
wall. Go on top of the wall and you should find GGB 2 positioned like this:
                                   ___
                                  |   |
                                  |GGB|
                           ___ ___|___|
                          |   |   |   |
                          |RB |RB |RB |
                          |___|___|___|

And if you can remember, "RB" stands for Red Barrel. Anyway, destroy GGB 2
and stay where you are.

GGB 3: To the right, you should find a large concrete wall. Climb up it, and
you should find GGB 3 next to two RBs. Watch out for the guy that has the
red shirt, because he is close to the GGB.

GGB 4: Again, jump to the right and you should find yourself on a platform
(ledge or whatever) and you should see GGB 4 next to a RB.

GGB 5: Jump to the right and you will land on a container with a guy that
throws grenades. Kill him, move to the right, and then climb up the
containers. On the topmost, you will see a guy with a white shirt and blue
pants, so kill him. Jump to the right, and then destroy the two stacks of
RB. Kill the enemy that's on the platform thing you are currently on. Swing
to the right, then go over the large pole that's in your way. Jump down, and
make your way down the ladder. Kill the guy with the red shirt. Make your
way up the second ladder, and you should be in a place called the "REACTOR
ROOM". Get up onto the platform that's in the middle of the room, then you
will see GGB 5 next to a RB.

GGB 6: At the upper right hand corner of the room there is a blue key. Grab
it, and go down to the lower right hand corner of the room where you will
find a door. Open it, then kill the guy with the grenade. Near him should be
GGB 6 right next to a RB.

GGB 7: Make your way up and to the right of the large concrete thing you are
currently beneath. Somewhere up there you should find GGB 7 next to a RB
that are both next to a wall.

GGB 8: Keep on going to the right of the level where you should find a large
building-like thing with glass panes on the side. Destroy the lowermost
glass pane, and get the red key that's inside. Now destroy the uppermost
glass pane. Kill the guy with the red shirt, and destroy GGB 8 that should
be near you.

GGB 9: Keep on going inside the building thing. There are about 3-4 enemies
inside, so kill them. You should find GGB 9 around here somewhere and a
green key. You should currently have a blue key, a red key and a green key.

GGB 10: Make your way out of the building thing and backtrack all the way to
the place where you found GGB 6. Open the door that was locked before, kill
a couple of enemies, and make your way to the right. Destroy the 10th and
final GGB, keep going to the right, then down a tunnel thing, and you have
finished the level! At last!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.6) BOSS LEVEL: KRAVEN THE HUNTER (PART 1)                            [W-BK1]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
KRAVEN: I must admit, you are a wonderful physical specimen, but here
the advantage is mine. Few places to swing your web from,
limited floor space. You are hampered, and my feline grace gives
me the edge! Defend yourself, Man-Spider!
SPIDERMAN: Oh brother! You bad guys are so melodramatic!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kraven can be pretty difficult to defeat. He is very fast and agile, and
like he says, the small hallway you two fight in gives him the advantage.

You start at the left side of the hallway. It's dark, so you need to turn on
the lights. There are two light switches and they're at both ends of the
hallway. The first one is right above you when you start. Climb over/jump on
it to turn it on. Same thing goes for the other light switch.

You have to constantly turn the lights on, as Kraven can turn them off. If
you fight with lights off, then I daresay that you will die in to time.

Try to stay on the ground, as you can fight Kraven easier than on the walls
or on the ceiling. He can stab and throw knives at you, so be careful. If
you are on the ceiling, then don't think that will stop him from hurting
you. Kraven can jump and stab, so you have to move fast. Try the QCF
(Quarter Circle Forward) combo to defeat him; it might work.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeated him...

KRAVEN: The first round goes to you, Man-Spider! But I shall return!
SPIDERMAN: That's Spiderman! Spider... oh why bother...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile...

SCIENTIST: He's managed to defeat Kraven, sir.
NORMAN OSBORN: This time perhaps, but Kraven was just taking his measure.
               What of our other concerns?
SCIENTIST: Quest Aerospace is nearing completion of their project. We
are in serious jeopardy if we go much longer without a
               solution.
NORMAN OSBORN: Very well, send in our insurance policy to buy us some time.
Also redouble our efforts to capture this 'Spider-Man'.
    SCIENTIST: At once, Mr. Osborn.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.7) LEVEL 5: RUN SHOCKER RUN                                          [W-L05]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 50   Pictures: 2   Secrets: 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PETER PARKER: Well now, what's this all about?
NEWS REPORTER: ... Reports that the super-villain known as Shocker has
targeted Quest Aerospace. The Shocker was last seen fleeing
               into the subways.
PETER PARKER: I'd better see what I can do. Time to get into costume.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shocker's going to shake the subway to pieces unless you stop him! Find him
before he makes rubble out of the place!
                                  _____

A new villain comes into the city's perspective, and that villain's name is
Shocker. I was stuck on this level for quite a while, because I couldn't
figure out how to get past the train. This is one of those levels that are
just too annoying and frustrating for me to explain to you, so I'll just say
what kind of stuff you should expect and how to beat the level.

All around the level, Shocker appears out of nowhere and acts as one of the
obstacles that try to stop you from completing the level. Usually, if you
just ignore him, you can't get to the next section of the level. What you
have to do is you have to hit him as hard as you can, and when he can't take
anymore punishment, he disappears and reappears at another part of the
level.

Near the beginning of the level, your Spider-sense will warn you about a
train coming. When the train comes, you die.
To prevent this from happening, above the train there is a ceiling of some
kind. Climb onto the ceiling, and you will be safe.

Wherever there is a train coming or Shocker is trying to hit you, the
ceiling will crumble and could hit you. Try to avoid this (obviously).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.8) LEVEL 6: NEXT STOP, HOSTAGES!                                     [W-L06]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 50   Pictures: 4   Secrets: 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NORMAN OSBORN: The fool Shocker attacked the wrong facility. And Quest has
nearly completed their project. How is our formula
               progressing?!
SCIENTIST: We're at 95%, sir, but despite our efforts, we can go no
               further without human trials.
NORMAN OSBORN: I don't care, we need results fast. I'll test it!
SCIENTIST: But sir! You can't possibly!
NORMAN OSBORN: Hahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shocker and his lackeys have taken hostages! Free the hostages before taking
on Shocker.
                                  _____

This level is basically a harder version of Level 1 (Crime Spree!). There
are a total of 11 hostages that you have to rescue, and they are scattered
all over the level.

Hostage 1: You start next to a wall, and Shocker pops up next to you. Ignore
him. Climb up the wall, then when you land, climb up the other wall that's
next to you. Kill the guy with the red shirt. Climb up the raised platform
that's above you, and then kill the two enemies there. Keep moving to the
left and you'll find hostage 1, who is an old man.

Hostage 2: Jump off the platform, then keep moving to the right until you
run across a guy with a red shirt. Kill him. Go to the right a few more
steps and you should find hostage 2.

Hostage 3: Keep on moving to the right, and you should find hostage 3, who
is an old man.

Hostage 4: Move further to the right and you should see a guy with his fists
raised and a guy with a flamethrower. Kill both of them, move to the right a
bit more, and you should see an old man, also known as hostage 4.

Hostage 5: Again, move to the right until you come across a big pole thing.
It will lead you to a platform. Climb up the pole, and kill the two enemies
that are on the platform. Go to the right and you will find hostage 5.

Hostage 6: Keep on moving to the right and fight a guy with his fists
raised. Near you should be a woman who is holding her baby; hostage 6.

Hostage 7: To the right, jump off the platform and you'll find yourself in a
wide open space. Kill the enemies that are here, move to the left and you'll
see hostage 7, another old man.

Hostage 8: Move to the left and you'll see hostage 8.

Hostage 9: Go to the right and you will find hostage 9, a nun.

Hostage 10: Keep on going to the right of the level until you come across
hostage 10, who is a woman holding her baby.

Hostage 11: Backtrack to the middle of the level where there is a raised
platform with no supports whatsoever. Get up onto the platform, then
continuously move to the left of the level, where you'll land on a raised
platform with hostage 11 on it.

After you have all 11 hostages, swing to the right of the level (watch out
for the electrical wires that hang from the ceiling) and make your way into
a tunnel of some sort that contains one enemy that has a gun. Kill him, then
climb onto the ceiling that's under the tunnel below you. Now, continuously
swing to the left because there's a train that's coming from behind you
(you'll know because your Spider-sense is flashing).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.9) BOSS LEVEL: SHOCKER SHAKEDOWN!                                    [W-BSS]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPIDERMAN: End of the line Shocker. Don't make this any harder than it is.
SHOCKER: Y-you don't scare me, freak! Bring it on!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shocker is another tough guy to beat. His specialty is electricity, and he's
good at it. He has two 'Vibro-shock' units that are attached to his hands
and forearms, and can be used for defending and attacking.

A good way to defeat him is to use the QCF (Quarter Circle Forward) combo.
Although you may not damage him on the first few times, you will/should get
him over the next few tries. If he still hasn't taken any damage from the
QCF, then do it continuously.

When Shocker has about a quarter of his health left, he will shoot desperate
blows of electricity at you. Hopefully he will miss and hit the ceiling,
causing it to go in a downfall of rubble (try and avoid it). The rubble
should land on him, ends the level.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeated him...

SHOCKER: Look, please don't eat me or nothin'. I'll tell you whatever you
           want!
SPIDERMAN: Really? You will? I mean, um, you will tell me who hired you!
SHOCKER: I-it was Osborn! He wanted me to sabotage that place, take some
of the heat off his company.
SPIDERMAN: Osborn? Norman Osborn?
  SHOCKER: Y-yeah, that's him. Don't hurt me!
SPIDERMAN: Shush! Super-hero thinking here.
SHOCKER: Are you all gross behind that mask? Like eight eyes and stuff?
SPIDERMAN: Ewww. Quite the imagination you've got there. Perhaps you should
write a book while you're in prison.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later...

SPIDERMAN: The Shocker must have had it all wrong. Norman Osborn can't have
been behind this. Maybe I can ask him at the Unity Day Festival.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.10) LEVEL 7: WORLD UNITY FESTIVAL                                    [W-L07]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 50   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PETER PARKER: Hopefully I can get some answers out of Mr. Osborne. Well
Mary Jane and Harry are up there, but no sign of Norman. I'm
stuck down here taking pictures. Now what's this? Whoever he
is, he doesn't look friendly. I'll suit up and roll out the
              welcome wagon for him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

An uninvited guest has planted time bombs throughout the parade. Defuse the
explosives to save all those innocent bystanders.
                                  _____

This is one of those levels that I think are 'fun'. Yes, I admit that
getting killed isn't fun, but going up higher and higher on those parade
balloons is.

Your objective for this level is to defuse all of the time bombs before the
time runs out. There are a total number of 18 bombs to defuse. I'm sorry to
say that this is yet another level that is very frustrating for me to
explain to you, step-by-step. Just explore the level, watch out for the
enemies, and defuse all 18 bombs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.11) BOSS LEVEL: A GOBLIN IS BORN                                     [W-BAG]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the first time that you will face the Green Goblin. The area in
which you two battle in is something like this:

                 _______  << YOU START HERE            __________
                |       |                             |          |
                |       |                             |          |
* = Electricity  |       |                             |          |
                |       |                             |          |
                |       |                             |          |
                |       |                             |          |
                |       |                             |          |
                |       |                             |          |
                |       |_***************************_|          |

So you start on a raised platform on the left side of the screen. The Green
Goblin will come towards you from the right, so take that opportunity to hit
him with a QCF or a fighting combo. He will go back and forth from one side
of the level to another, so you should know which side of the level he is
currently on before attacking.

After a while, you should be able to figure out his pattern: he will hit
you, then throw bombs at you, hit you again, and so on. Knowing his pattern
could also help to your advantage.

Stay on either one of the raised platforms that are on either sides of the
level! Do not jump off them, instead, swing. If you jump off them, you will
land on a place where there is full of electricity.

Just keep on hitting the Green Goblin with QCF's or fighting combos, and in
no time, the level should end with his defeat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeated him...

   SPIDERMAN: Gotcha!
MARY-JANE: Thank goodness you were here! How can I ever repay you?
GREEN GOBLIN: Spider's got a girlfriend... perhaps I can use this to my
              advantage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.12) LEVEL 8: CHINATOWN UNDERGROUND                                   [W-L08]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 50   Pictures: 4   Secrets: 4

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NORMAN OSBORN: How do I defeat the Spider-Man? He definitely has a
connection with the Mary Jane girl. Perhaps if I place her
in danger I can flush the Spider out. Then my HK Units will
               destroy him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile...

PETER PARKER: I wonder where Mary Jane is? She said she wanted to talk to
me about something. Well you don't see this everyday. Don't
know who he is, or his little wind-up buddies either, but
they're all heading down that tunnel. I didn't know that
'trouble-magnet' was also one of my powers...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scorpion just ran into the tunnels under Chinatown.
If you can get past the army of robotic spiders and find him, he might know
who's behind all of these crimes.
                                  _____

I am, yet again, sorry to say that I cannot walk you through this level, as
it is a very complicated one. Just explore the level, find keys, and unlock
doors. Watch out for the big HKU's (Hunter Killer Units); this will be your
first encounter with them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.13) BOSS LEVEL: SCORPION STING                                       [W-BSC]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't really find Scorpion too hard. He is extremely fast, even faster than
Kraven. However, the room in which you two battle in is really spacious, so
he shouldn't give you any trouble.

Five words of advice: watch out for his tail. His tail is his main weapon
(well, actually it's his only weapon) and it shoots powerful blasts of
whatever at you. Getting up on the ceiling won't help, as he can direct his
tail upwards to shoot. Just move around the room, and find any spots that
could give you an advantage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeated him...

SPIDERMAN: I recognized the logo on those robots! Norman Osborn is
definitely behind this. I suppose it's too much to hope that
when I get to OsCorp I'll find some alien brain sucker
controlling an otherwise innocent Norman Osborn.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.14) LEVEL 9: OSCORP INFILTRATION                                     [W-L09]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 60   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 1

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GREEN GOBLIN: So you've managed to figure it out, eh hero? You truly are a
worthy opponent. OsCorp security countermeasures are active.
Now for the Coup de Grace. I certainly hope you survive my
death-traps Spider-Man. That way I'll get to destroy you
              myself!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could Norman Osborn be behind the latest crime wave gripping the city?
Investigate OsCorp and see if you come up with any clues.
                                  _____

Sorry, folks. No walkthrough here. This level is just too complex to deal
with in words, and so I must leave you here to explore to find out what
dangers you have and what you have to do. Alternatively, you can read what I
have to say below about the level.

1. Watch out for the lava (or magma, or fire, whatever) that covers most of
this level's floor. You will burn the instant you touch it, meaning that you
cannot climb out like you can with the electrical holes in Level 2 (The
Cradle will Fall).

2. Stay away from the electrical panels. These panels are full of
electricity (obviously). If you touch one of these wall panels, you will
be electrocuted (duh). Fortunately for you, if this does happen, you can
climb out of them, like the electrical holes.

3. Avoid the electrical wires that hang from the ceiling. These merely take
away one health point from you and make you fall if you touch them.

4. Get away from red barrels as soon as you hit one. I know this sounds very
obvious - but I have encountered people that have played this game and have
hit a red barrel and just stood there, not knowing that they were about to
explode (the red barrel, not the actual person).

5. Look for the blue key. The blue key is the only way you're going to get
out of this level, as it unlocks a door to a certain section of the level.
The blue key is underneath some strange gas in a small room somewhere.

Just think fast, and remember the things that I said above.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.15) BOSS LEVEL: RESPECT THE MECH                                     [W-BRM]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"MECH" stands for "Mega Electric Creature Hunter". And I must admit, Osborn
did a good job on it too...

The MECH is very straightforward to defeat. Look around in the current room,
and you will about 3-5 web-ups. Use these web-ups to defeat the
MECH.

It (the MECH) is situated on the right side of the level. Move to the right
- not too close - and you will see that the MECH has about eight eyes. Its eyes
are it's weakness. Use the web-ups to hit it's eyes, and it's health should go
down a bit. Keep on repeating this process, until it's history.

If you have run out of web-ups, then wait a few seconds until a new web-up
appears. Hopefully you will have the good fortune of a Bomb Web appearing
:).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeated it...

GREEN GOBLIN: You've defeated my secret weapon, Spider-Man, but I still
have some surprises in store for you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later...

KRAVEN: Ah, Man-Spider, I told you our fight was far from over!
MARY JANE: Help me! Get this smelly freak away from me!
SPIDERMAN: Mary Jane!
KRAVEN: Come, Man-Spider, we will finish our battle, yes? Coney Island!
SPIDERMAN: It's 'Spider-Man', you Tarzan-looking frea-sckhzzzttt!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.16) LEVEL 10: CARNIVAL OF TERROR                                     [W-L10]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                Golden Spiders: 50   Pictures: 3   Secrets: 1

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPIDERMAN: Are you alright? Did he hurt you?
MARY JANE: He didn't hurt me, I think I was just bait.
SPEAKER: The girl was just bait, hero! An honorable hero would not need
no such advantage in battle. So come, Man-Spider, come and fight
me if you are not a coward, but to fight me you must find me.
The prey becomes the predator, no? Hahahahaha!!!!!
MARY JANE: Don't you know any normal people?
SPIDERMAN: I know you don't I?
MARY JANE: Normal. You know just what to say to a girl, don't you?
SPIDERMAN: Not that you're normal, I mean you are, but, errgghh! Just go
           home, OK?
MARY JANE: Sure thing Mr. Super-Hero sir!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Green Goblin has placed explosives throughout the carnival. Deal with
the bombs and fight Kraven!
                                  _____

This level is basically the same as the World Unity Festival level. Scattered
all around are 19 bombs, and your job is to defuse all of them. Fairly easy;
just watch out for the chainsaw jugglers. Nothing else to say here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.17) BOSS LEVEL: HUNTING THE HUNTER                                   [W-BHH]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember Kraven? Well he's back and with more agility, speed, and strength.
It is pretty hard to beat him, so you'd better keep your eyes and ears
peeled at all times.

Watch out for the spears that come out of the ground. They can be very
annoying if you hit them (or do they hit YOU?), especially while facing
Kraven. Also, try not to step on the button on the right side of the level
that controls a box which sends out a bullet (you probably encountered some
of these in OsCorp: Infiltration).

At the beginning of the level, a white cross-hair should come down. Avoid it
at all costs; this is Kraven trying to shoot you (hopefully he won't). After
about a minute of dodging the cross-hair, the cross-hair will disappear and
Kraven will appear out of nowhere.

He still has his old tricks up his sleeves; the knife throwing, the
stabbing, etc. However, this time, he has a new addition to his deadliness.
Every time you lower his health down to about a quarter left, he will drink
a potion which refreshes him back to full health and make him faster.

So anyway, beat him into oblivion for the first time round. When his health
is down to about a quarter left, he will drink the said potion and he will
be back to full health; but this time he is even faster than before. "Kill"
him again, and then he will drink some more of the potion and he will be
even faster than before! Beat him up some more, he'll drink the potion, and
he is EVEN FASTER THAN BEFORE! This kind of speed is very difficult to deal
with; Kraven will run, jump, stab and throw in less than five seconds. Just
keep on hitting him repeatedly like before, and in no time you should win
(he won't drink the potion anymore ^_^).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have defeat him...

KRAVEN: Marvelous! You are truly marvelous Spider-Man!
SPIDERMAN: Hey, you said it right!
KRAVEN: Of course, because now you have Kraven's respect. These police
will not be able to hold me you know.
SPIDERMAN: Maybe, maybe not.
KRAVEN: And you cannot stay. The Goblin, he know where your lady love
           lives.
SPIDERMAN: The Goblin... she's not my lady-love by the way.
KRAVEN: Sure she is not. Go now hero, do what you must. I will wait here
for the police out of respect for you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.18) LEVEL 11: TAKE IT TO THE BRIDGE                                  [W-L11]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Golden Spiders - 50
Pictures - 3
Secrets - 3

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GREEN GOBLIN: Catch me of you can, Spider-Man! Hahaha!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green Goblin is on the move! Mary Jane kidnapped! Track down the bad guy to
rescue the girl. Piece of cake, right?!?
                                  _____

Yes, this is indeed, a "piece of cake". Actually, this is the EASIEST level
in the game. You might be thinking, "WTF?" right about now, but believe me,
what I am saying is TRUE!

At first I thought this level was hard. Seeing how many enemies really
caught my attention, and so I was trying to figure out more ways to beat
this level. Well, I had an idea. Here's how it went: "To beat this level,
you need to explore it's upper sections." Now, this might sound like a load
of old tosh to you, but following this idea will get you to complete this
level.

Explore the level's upper sections! At the beginning, try to find a
platform/ledge of some sort that will take you right to the top of the
level. Stay up there at all times, while moving forward (to the right) in
order to finish the level. Sure, you'll have to fight about ten enemies
along the way, but about 90% of all of the enemies are on the ground.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.19) BOSS LEVEL: GOBLIN SHOWDOWN                                      [W-FIN]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You'd think that the criminal mastermind that's been attacking the whole
city and is the main boss of the game would be very hard; almost unbeatable
to beat. Sadly, if you thought that, you were wrong. The Green Goblin is as
easy as pie.

You will have to beat him up twice, the first time will be when he is on his
Goblin Glider, the second time when he's on foot.

When he's on the Goblin Glider, he'll basically follow the same pattern as
the last time you fought him (in the level "A Goblin is Born"). Beat him to
a pulp, and when you've done that, he'll get renewed health and he'll be
back on his feet, not on his Goblin Glider. When he is on foot, he will yet
again throw bombs and the like at you. Watch out for his Goblin Glider; it
glides back and forth the level while firing bullets at you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you've defeated him, the Green Goblin will attempt to run at you, but
his plan backfires as the Goblin Glider will hit him, causing him to fall
off the bridge...

MARY JANE: So tell me something...
SPIDERMAN: Sure, anything.
MARY JANE: Now that Goblin and his cronies are behind bars and you've
restored peace to the city... what are we going to do for our
           second date?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 *CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE FINISHED THE GAME!*

thought it would be nice to have them all piled up in a nice chart.

Please note that double-dashes ('--') means 'zero' or 'not applicable'.

9) BONUS LEVELS                                                        [X-BON]
===============================================================================

Every few levels, you will run across a bonus level. Bonus levels are great
opportunities for you to get more points, but unfortunately you don't get
any free lives for completing them. Anyway, here is what the game says
whenever you get to a bonus level:

While on routine patrol, Spiderman discovers a nasty surprise in the air
above the city. Catch all of the Goblin Gas Balloons before they can be used
on innocent people! Press A at the right time to keep Spiderman through the
city!

                                 ***

So that's what you have to do in the bonus levels. You have to try and keep
yourself up in the air by pressing the A button at the right time. If you
don't, you will fall and the bonus level will be incomplete.

Keeping yourself up in the air shouldn't be a problem, as all you have to do
is continuously press A so that you never miss the chance to keep swinging.
Now you've figured that out, it's time to find out where the Goblin Gas
Balloons are.

On the bottom right corner of the screen, there is an arrow. The arrow will
point to a Goblin Gas Balloon, so follow it.

Look at the upper left corner of the screen and you will see the number 10
up there. That is how many Goblin Gas Balloons you have to find and catch.
The number will go down by one for every Goblin Gas Balloon you catch.

At the lower left corner of the screen, there is a timer. You have two
minutes to find and catch all of the balloons. The higher your time is, the
higher your score will be for the bonus level.

After you have completed a bonus level, the game will show you the points
added to your score for every balloon you caught and for your time. If you
got a low time score, then next time try to beat it and see what you get.

10) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS                                         [X-FAQ]
===============================================================================

Q: Can I have this guide on my site?
A: No. If you read my disclaimer that's at the beginning of my guide, you
would have also read that www.gamefaqs.com is the only site that may host
  this guide.

Q: How do I beat level <insert level here>?
A: Check the Walkthrough.

Q: I sent you an e-mail, but you didn't reply. Why's that?
A: It's either you forgot what I wouldn't accept when mailing me, or it was
cause I was too busy doing other stuff. In terms of other cases, I should
still be able to answer your e-mail within 24 hours: most of the time.

Q: You haven't updated in ages! What's up?
A: If I haven't updated in ages, that means that I've either been too busy with
my life or I have no need to update. Give me time.
