]] preface A: Introduction                        [[
----------------------------------------------------
True Crime: Streets Of LA combines three arcade gaming genres into one fun
game. Driving, Fighting and Shooting are all accounted for in a simple to pick
up and play game. Through out the main story you will be doing one of four
styles of missions. There is driving, fighting, shooting and sneaking.

You will be performing these tasks in sections called episodes. Each episode is
divided up into about 7 parts. Depending on how you perform on certain parts in
the episode you may be playing alternate parts within that episode. If you
achieve 100% at the end of each episode you will get a bonus cruising mission.

During the bonus cruising you can cruise to one of three places to earn a
bonus. Bonuses are a new car, a new grapple fighting move or a bigger
set of guns!

Once the bonus has been completed you move onto the next episode.
The story line episodes can branch between the main 'good' branch to two
alternative 'bad' branches. The good branch consists of 8 episodes. Each bad
branch consists of 2 more episodes.

Each branch can be completed as a good or bad cop and you can either be
successful or unsuccessful on the last mission.

During untimed driving missions you can take a detour and visit training
facilities to upgrade your skills. These upgrades complement the bonus items
you can get at the end of each episode.

You can retry any previous missions anytime when you resume your game. This
allows you to go back and collect shields and do upgrades.

There is also a bonus mission which can be unlocked by collecting 30 Dogg bones
scattered around the city. Collecting all 30 Dogg bones will unlock a side
mission called Dogg Patrol - where you play as Snoop Dogg for an hour.

]] preface C: Bonus items                         [[
----------------------------------------------------
If you complete an episode with 100% you get to try out for a bonus item.
Choose to upgrade your car, gun or learn some grapple moves which can be used
when fighting hand to hand.

Driving bonuses:
Win a street race and you get a better car. Steal a fast car with acceptable
handling before starting this. You start with a car, so there are three others
to unlock.

Shooting bonuses:
Get trough the shooting challenge to get a bigger gun. There are four better
guns to unlock. Each gun has a larger calibre and holds more bullets.

Fighting bonuses:
Visit a dojo to learn a signature grapple. Unlock the move by beating up a
bunch of guys and finally the guy who put his name to the move.

CHANGE NUMBER PLATE:
Remove and replace the memory card during the game. Next time the game auto
saves you can re-save your game and enter the number plate. You can activate
codes here too. Sometimes you need to repeat this process for it to take
effect.

SAVING SHIELDS:
Remove and replace the memory card before entering an upgrade place. Make a
second save. If you are having trouble learning how to complete a certain

using the same technique.

Press [L1]+[R1]+<up/down> to change the colour of the smoke effect. This will
be the colour of all your impound cars.

SKINS:
You can make the main character look like other people by entering certain
number plates for your game save. You also need to press OK by holding

]] episode I-1: Shooting Practise                 [[
----------------------------------------------------
Start of by earning your first gun. This gun is crap! But don't Frisbee your
game away just yet. You get better guns later on.

All you need to do here is shoot 10 targets.
With this gun you may find yourself squeezing the trigger without the gun
firing anything.
The trick is to wait for your aim to move onto the target before you start
firing. Quickly and repeatedly tap [R1] to squeeze off enough shots until the
target explodes. Reload between targets with [R2]. Don't waste any bullets for
moving targets. Wait until the target stops and your aim is back on the target,
then continue shooting. While the target is moving do another reload.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode I-2: Rushing to EOD                    [[
----------------------------------------------------
Walk up to your car and press [L1] to get in. (X) is the accelerator and (S)
the brake. Steer with the left analogue stick.

Do a quick u-turn and head off down the road. There is an on screen radar map
that shows your near surroundings. On the edge of the radar is a small triangle
which is where you have to go. Press the select button to see the full map.
The game view will show you a large green circle of light that you need to
drive into.

Try not to hit any pedestrians as this will make you loose points. You need
these points later on.

There is a time limit here so there is no time for sight seeing this time.
Do not worry about rushing too much though because the time limit is pretty
generous.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode I-3: Driving for chow                  [[
----------------------------------------------------
Starting location: 3652,393

There is no time limit here, so you can choose to explore your surroundings.
This is also your first opportunity to start earning upgrades. You need to pay
to attempt upgrades and the currency is shields. You should have 4 shields if
you did not run over any people on the way.

You start at an impound garage which is marked on the radar map.

You will find the following symbols on the radar map:
Green arrow   : Found on the edge of the map.
Indicates the general direction of your next mission
               destination.
Green dot     : Exact location of your next mission destination.
Small red dot : Shows you where there is a crime in progress.
               One dot for each criminal.
Large red dot : Location of a criminal’s car.
Yellow P      : Impound garage. Find unlocked cars here. Also restores health.
Yellow +      : Pharmacy/Clinic. Pay to have your health restored.
               Walk into the yellow marker.
Yellow pump   : Repair garage. Pay to get your car fixed.
Drive STRAIGHT into the garage through the yellow marker.
Upgrade places are marked blue if they are available and grey if you have
already used them. Each upgrade place becomes unavailable once you have
achieved the upgrade.
Blue target   : Firing range. Each upgrade makes your gun easier to use.
Earn the upgrade by completing shooting challenges.
Blue dumbbell : Dojo. Unlock fighting moves by practising the move.
Blue car      : Driving academy.
Complete a simple course within the allowed time limit.
Display your mastery of the new driving skill to earn it.

Because this driving challenge is untimed you will start getting random crimes
reported on the radio. Each time you solve a crime you will earn points towards
a shield. Each shield gives you an attempt at earning an upgrade.
You do not have to solve these crimes - they are just extra challenges for you
to do and can be a lot of fun.
For example there may be a street fight. Sound your siren as you approach and
they may put their arms in the air. Walk up to them and press [R2]+(O) to
handcuff them. Not everyone gives up easily and some even fake to give up. Be
especially careful of surrendering criminals with the weapon still in their
hands.

You will earn 10 points for apprehending a criminal. If you beat a criminal in
a fight you get 10 points, plus another 5 points when you handcuff their
unconscious bodies. Killing civilians loses you points. And shooting criminals
makes you a bad cop, unless you use neutralising shots. Arms and legs are
neutralising areas. The head is not. If a criminal is shooting at you, it is ok
to shoot back. This will not make you a bad cop.

Another way to earn points quickly is to frisk a passer-by. If they are
carrying contraband you get 5 points. You can frisk a lot of people quickly in
between random crimes, and you will be surprised how much fun it can be.
Frisking also does wonders for your good cop rating. You need to be a good cop
to progress through to the main branch.

]] episode I-4: Triad muscle                      [[
----------------------------------------------------
Fight your way through this one guy. You can get better at fighting by paying
attention to their body position and attacking their exposed areas.
When you daze an enemy always get in a few cheap shots by tapping in a
finishing combo. You have three standard finishing combos available from the
start. Once you unlock ground attacks you can also get in another cheap shot
after you knock them down with a combo.

When fighting basically mash the three main punching and kicking buttons as
quickly as you can and try to vary them. The proper way to block is with the
[L2] button, but some enemies have special attacks that can only be blocked
with punches and low kicks.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode I-5: Finale: Rosie trouble             [[
----------------------------------------------------
Shoot the baddie with the automatic gun using your pea shooter.
You can try and stand there and shoot like mad, but you will end up dead pretty
quick.

These are ways to minimise taking on damage.
- Keep moving sideways. This makes you hard to hit.
- Do slow-mo dives (hold (T)) once the dive starts you can quickly fire off a
lot of shots. You also become very had to hit.
- Take cover (hold (X)) using whatever you can find.
- Don't forget to reload whenever you can. Manual reload is quicker then the
  automatic reload.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode I-x: Bonus cruising                    [[
----------------------------------------------------
Starting location: -2793,-1288 Venice

You will always get a bonus cruising mission if you received 100% in the
episode. If you do not get 100% you get a crime patrol mission instead. Crime
patrol means that you need to solve some random crimes before you can proceed,
and you do not get a bonus.

Finish this mission by receiving a bonus of your choice. Drive to one of the
three green icons for a new car, new gun or new grapple move. You still need to
complete the challenge when you get there to earn your bonus.

The gun bonus is the best to have. Grapples are hard to inflict and fast cars
are easily 'borrowed'. If you have not made up your mind, leave it for now and
come back to it later.

Bonus cruising is also a good time to visit the 24/7 places where you can earn
upgrades. Spend some time completing random crimes and frisking people on the
street to practise your skills and earn some shields.

]] episode II-2: Dojo attacker                    [[
----------------------------------------------------
If you have been solving some street crimes to earn yourself some shields you
probably are familiar with the fighting system. Unfortunately the buttons are
pretty easy and there is no real skill involved. All you need to do is mash the
(T), (S) and (X) buttons at random. You can try using (O) for a grapple move,
but it usually ends in you getting kicked or punched.

You can get better at fighting by paying attention to the opponent’s stance.
If they are standing low, use (X) to low kick. If they are standing high, use
(O) to punch.

Learn the finishing combos to inflict some extra damage. Other then the combos
you can unlock, there are three standard finishing moves. (T)+(S), (S)+(X) and
(X)+(T). Unleash these when the enemy is dazed and you will have the victory in
the bag in no time.

The combo system is a little bit clumsy sometimes, but it is useable. Stop
mashing buttons when you get the dazed signal and wait one second while you
think of what you want to do. Now enter the button sequence you want. Shazam!

You may also want to back away afterwards so that you have a chance to start
again with a running attack (if unlocked). Backing away is always recommended
so that you do not get smacked when the enemy gets up.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode II-3: Red lantern rush                 [[
----------------------------------------------------
For some reason you have 60 seconds to get to the red lantern. Time is pretty
tight here, so get in the car and peel-out. When the road forks, stay left.
Keep an eye on the map. This road ends soon, but you can cut the corners and
take a quick left and right. Keep heading to the green dot. don't miss your
turn off. Drive into the green glow.

]] episode II-4: Bar brawl                        [[

Beat this guy up using the skills from before.

If he grabs your arm then he is trying on a grapple. Back away (which also
blocks) and tap anything franticly. You should be able to break the hold.

Skip II-4(alt) if you have been successful so far.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode II-4(alt): The arsonist                [[
----------------------------------------------------
Chase him down and stop his car. The best way to do this is to come up behind
him and make a pass while shooting. This will normally take out a tire or two
which will be evident when sparks start flying from under the car.

Once you have one tire you have slowed him down and he becomes easy prey. Run
him off the road or shoot the car until he is forced to stop. You could also
block his path if the car is disabled enough.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode II-5: Chasing triad thug               [[
----------------------------------------------------
Run down the road to the red dot on your map. Try not to run into people by
running around them.

He will shoot at you when you get closer, so press <right> while running to
draw your guns. Using auto aim is fine here so wait for the yellow reticule to
appear and fire away. This will be even easier if you have been getting your
gun upgrades.

I like to do slow-mo dives to minimise getting shot. Squeeze off a few shots
while diving and when there are no civilians in between you and your target
until he is defeated.

]] episode II-7: Sneaking in                      [[
----------------------------------------------------
Your first sneaking mission.

The controls are pretty simple. (X) to take cover, [R1] to shoot one of your
three tranquilising darts.
[S] For a neutralising attack, (T) for a lethal attack. One for good cops and
one for bad cops. You work out which is which!

Pressing and holding (X) facing a wall will make you back onto that wall.
Pressing (X) elsewhere will get you to crouch.

Make good use of your right analogue stick to see what’s around you, and around
the corner. Using right-an(left/right) moves left and right. Using
right-an(up/down) zooms in and out.

Do not use the darts unless you really need to. They have a really short range.

Watch your step, you do not want to make any noise.

As far as sneaking missions go, this one is pretty easy, so you may want to
try it before reading ahead.

Alright then. Walk to the pillar and hold (X) to hide. Sneak up to him and
take him out using your preferred method.

Walk to the next pillar and hide. Move your view with the right analogue stick
to see who is there. This guy is patrolling so wait for him to start walking
away so that you can follow him and take him out.

Hide behind the pillar and have a look ahead. Hide behind the next pillar near
your next target. Look carefully on the ground. Do not walk to the right of the
pillar or you will be busted. Go to the left instead and take him out.

Hide at the next pillar. Look around. When the next guy walks away follow him
and take him out.

Walk up the ramp in the far corner of the room and back around to where the
obvious green marker is, do not stop. Try and get the camera to show where you
are going here. Walk straight up to the new enemy and take him out. You could
use a dart here, but it is not necessary.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode II-8: Jimmy's ambush                   [[
----------------------------------------------------
This mission has some great gun fighting and is more like a time crisis game.
Shoot anything that moves and keep taking cover. Use all your gun upgrade
skills including precision aims for distant targets and reload often.

Take cover often.

Pick up enemy weapons using (O) when you are standing on them. [R2] drops them.

Drop down and work your way through this room. There is no need to go into the
main room towards the back. You can take cover at the pillar and do slow-mo
fire fights working right and left to take out everyone from here. You may
notice there is a medical kit on the pillar. Press (O) when your health is +50%
gone. Using it before then is a waste as it can only restore 50%.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode II-9: Finale: Sniper Assassin          [[
----------------------------------------------------
Run to the window and take cover. Wait for the sniper to shoot and then move.
While he is moving initiate your precision aim and move the reticule to the
sniper. Take a shot before he does. Press [R2] to get out of precision aim and
take cover again. Repeat until he is defeated.

Gun upgrades will help you no end here. If you have not done so yet you can do
it now. The sniper will wait for you.
How? Press start to get the menu. Exit, then resume your save. Choose any of
your previous driving missions. Get the upgrades. Exit and resume here where
we are all waiting for you. Neat huh!

Quickly get in your car and follow the limo. The idea of tailing is to not be
too close and not too far back either. There is an instrument at the top right
of the screen which indicates how close you are. Keep your position in the
middle third and you should be fine. The trick to doing this well is to
anticipate when the other car will slow down or speed up.
Most of the time you can see the car in the distance, so keep an eye on where
the other car is in traffic so that you can tell when they stop and go.
Generally cars will obey the road rules, but some drivers may get impatient and
take off.
You can also use your map to check on cars when they turn corners.

]] episode III-3: A stakeout gone bad             [[

Take off as fast as you can. This guy will shoot your car into a ball of flames

You can get a head start straight away by driving straight ahead out of the
intersection but keeping an eye out for a fenced off enclosure immediately to
your left.
Drive through the enclosure, while your pursuers will wait for you to take to
the roads again.
You still need to loose them which requires a large lead. Keep turning left and
right alternatively. Do not go around any blocks because they will take a short
cut.
Keep high corner speed and you should loose them after a few turns.
If they catch you again and are really close, cut through any off road areas
again including the areas marked with a yellow P.

Go around the first wall of lockers and the next. As you go through the tunnel

]] episode III-7: Finale: The accomplice          [[

A great shoot 'em up level. Keep moving side to side when exposed. Use the

possible. Pick up dropped weapons. Keep moving around the room looking for
cover while shooting because guys will come out from all four corners of the
room. Try not too hang around the shorter end of the room or you may get
surrounded too easily.
Shooting upgrades make this level pretty easy, because there is a lot of
shooting to be done. Bigger guns will help too, but the enemy weapons are in
great supply and very effective.
Don't forget that reloading also drops picked up weapons. If you have the
chance, exchange your picked up weapons with fresh ones that probably have
more ammo. Drop the old gun away from the new one so the new one is easier to
pick up.

Follow the corridor and you will see an entrance to another room to the right.
Take out the guy pacing in the next room. Continue to the other half of the

have plenty of time to take out the guy in there.

Going through to the next room you can go two ways, straight or right. We go

If you have got the last gun bonus and hollow tip bullets there is no real need
to pick up dropped weapons. If you do pick them up, get one at a time so you
still have one flashlight.

There are health pick ups down hidden detour alleys with one ugly enemy at the
end defending it. He is easy kill and explodes on death. You may want to save
health pick ups if you don't really need them so that you can come back to
them when you do need them. When you hear a rumble there is usually two ways
to go. Alleys with the narrow entrance will lead to health.

Keep snaking through the tunnels and shooting all baddies. It is easy to get

know what to do. Even when you do know what to do, you still need to do it.

Shoot the demon heads smack in the eye using precision aim. You will need to be
quick when they stop circling, but it is possible to make several shots. If you
miss you will need to dive out of the way as they swoop on you. This is
especially true the first time they stop.

Keep returning to the centre of the room and let the camera automatically
follow the heads until they stop. Then activate precision aim.

More and more heads appear to replace the last ones, until the big head
appears.

To get the big head, follow it around the room in precision aim. When it stops
shoot all three eyes. You can try and dive but there is little time.
Return to the centre of the room and do the same for any eyes you missed.

]] episode VI-7: Finale: Nightmare                [[
----------------------------------------------------
Holy crap!
If you try to figure out how to beat him you will get whipped many times. There
is a relatively easy way though.

Stand in the middle and let the camera follow it. While he is going around in
circles there is little damage to be done. But when he stands up is the time to
strike, but you have to be quick. Precision aim at the head. Unload your whole
gun quickly. If you have the last gun bonus you can shoot 6 shots per second,
even when precision aiming.
If you were too slow you will get burned. Dive out of the way if you see fire
coming. If you were quick enough there will be no fire to worry about.
The real trick is to know when he is coming up. When you precision aim, Nick
will turn around to face his target if it is behind you.

Repeat several times and the victory is yours.

From here you can see another guard. You can get past the yellow barrels by
staying close to the wall on the left and moving past them.

Continue on left from here but stay on the right side. Take out the guard that

side to find the next guard.

Ahead you will see a quick left and right. Around that corner is another guy
pacing up and down.

It is pretty safe to run through the corridors and take the enemies on as they
appear.

----------------------------------------------------
]] episode V-6: Hostage crisis                    [[
----------------------------------------------------
Go around the corner and shoot the guy you can see.
Use slow mo dives and strafing to avoid being shot.

When heading into the office space, you will see a cubicle area on the left and
on the right. There is a baddie with a hostage behind the one on the right.
Go down the middle slowly but stay left. When you see an arm or a leg, you can
neutralize him. If he pops slow-mod dive and fire a single shot. If you are
lucky you saved the hostage. If not, keep shooting.

There is no real reason to worry about your good/bad cop rating. You can exit
after this level, redo a few sneaking missions and recover the rating. Trying
to save hostages is going to get you shot several times before you get your
aim.

If you can take a neutralizing shot, that's great, but don't take the game too
seriously - you just need to survive the mission.

Continue on towards the cubicle at the other end of the room on the left. There
is a guy with a hostage waiting for you.
You can try to rescue the hostage by slow mo diving to the left and taking a
single shot, but be prepared to need to shoot again.

As you approach the door to the next room, three guys come out, shoot them.

There is a health pick up to the right of the door. Use it if your health is
50%+ gone. If not, save it and come back for it later.

Moving through to the next room you are about to face more of the same. Pick up
any dropped fully automatic weapons if you want them, but you won't save any
hostages with them, if that is a concern.

As you enter the room you may be attacked. Shoot them. You can see a health
pick up there, but you need to do some work before you can get to it.

There is a guy with a hostage to your left around the corner of the first
cubicle there.
There is also a guy with a hostage behind the right cubicle.

More hostages being held in each opening to the other side of the room.
Expect some guys standing on desks to take shots at you from the other side of
the room.

As you move through there are hostages being held to the left and right in
little nooks facing back from the way you came.

Moving forward past halfway through the room is a health pick up on the right
and another to the left hidden in the dark.

As you proceed from here you will get enemies coming out from everywhere. Some
with hostages, others without. Either way, deal with it. Hopefully you saved
some health pick ups plus there is one near the exit.

Lots of enemies will come out in the next hallway. Shoot them.

Go to the green mark. The nightmare is over, or is it?

----------------------------------------------------
This is the hardest sneaking mission in the game, but it is not impossible.

You may find it a bit dark to be able to tell where you are going sometimes
so there are two things you can do.
You can fiddle with the brightness setting for your screen or read ahead and
find out where the turns are.

Go to the end of the corridor but hide towards the end on the right hand side
before the red curtain. Move the camera to see who is there and take her out
when she comes up.

Go right, then left. A guy will walk out from the left. Smack him out.

Turn left where the guy came from. A waitress will come out. Get her.

Keep going to the end and turn right. There is another guy around the corner
to the left.

Follow that corridor and turn right, but be careful. There are buckets on the
floor here that you can not run into, or you are busted. And by the look of the
place 95% of you probably do not want to get caught here.

There is enough of a gap so that you can walk through with two buckets to your
left and one on the right. You want to turn right after this room.

Go down the corridor here and stop after the first painting on the right and
before the red curtain. Hide against the wall on the right. There is a girl in
that room. You can shoot a dart tap [R1], or walk by when she is not looking.

After the next painting on the right is another room. Dart the girl in there.

Next there are more buckets to deal with. The gap in here is a bit narrower,
so unless you are feeling very confident, let’s do this slowly.
There is no rush here, so inch forward a little at a time. Move the camera
around to see if you are going through the middle. Line up the camera in the
direction you want to go, and inch forward some more.
Go through the first two, then when you can see you are clear move through to
the left of the next bucket.

Turn left and make your way to the green marker. Take out the guy that walks
out from the left.

- Win the street race and beat the clock.
- Plan your route on the map before the race starts. I recommend the first
major road right, then the major road left so that you are heading North
around Beverly Hills. You will need to negotiate some streets when you get
to the end, but you want to make your way to the major road heading left
which is West and called Sunset Blvd.
- Peel out at the start.
- Stick to the main roads and minimise the number of corners you turn.
- Use the driving upgrades - especially boosts.
- You do not need to stop at your destination, you can just drive through
the circle marked on the road.

New car 2
- '01 roadster
- 0-60 mph in 4 seconds
- top speed of 177 mph
- 450 hp
- Have a fast car before taking on this challenge. Use one of the exotic
sports cars or the Japanese buzz box or the last unlocked car.
- Win the street race and beat the clock.
- Plan your route on the map before the race starts. I recommend taking the
first major road South, then the main road heading East.
- Peel out at the start.
- Stick to the main roads and minimise the number of corners you turn.
- Use the driving upgrades - especially boosts.
- You do not need to stop at your destination, you can just drive through
the circle marked on the road.

New car 3
- '03 sports car
- 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds
- top speed 180 mph
- 400 hp
- Have a fast car before taking on this challenge. Use one of the exotic
sports cars or the Japanese buzz box or the last unlocked car.
- Win the street race and beat the clock.
- Plan your route on the map before the race starts. I recommend taking any
of the major roads right. Then left onto the major road, Pico Blvd.
- Peel out at the start.
- Stick to the main roads and minimise the number of corners you turn.
- Use the driving upgrades - especially boosts.
- You do not need to stop at your destination, you can just drive through
the circle marked on the road.

----------------------------------------------------
Dual Aim:
 - Destroy 8 targets
 - Avoid civilian targets (3)
 - pretty easy
 - it takes 4 hits for a target to be destroyed.

Aim assistance:
 - Allows targeting of vital points during precision aim
 - Perform 7 neutralising shots
 - Avoid civilian targets (2)
 - pretty easy.
 - Go into Precision Aim and move aim to the legs or the arms.
 - The reticle will go green when locked on, but you can shoot before it turns
green if you know you are on target.
 - You need to anticipate an offset for moving targets. Aim about one arm
width approaching the civilian target and double that moving away from the
civilian target. Always reload between sets of targets.

Fast reload:
 - Destroy or neutralize 10 targets
 - Avoid civilian targets (1)
 - Avoid headshots
 - Pretty tricky and may require several attempts.
 - A total of 12 targets will be presented.
 - As soon as you are at the firing range and before the first 4 targets
appear go into precision aim. Shoot the legs of the third target from the
   left.
 - You do not have to wait for the reticle to turn green if you know you have
   the neutralising shot.
 - You also do not need to wait for the shot to hit the target and register
before you move onto your next target.
 - Slowly move your target to the second from the left and shoot the legs.
Keep working to the left and take out the left most targets. Leave the right
   most target for last.
 - If you do not have a neutralising shot straight away on the fourth target,
empty your gun and destroy it instead because there is not much time to
   adjust your aim.
 - Reload between sets of targets. Always go into precision aim as soon as the
last targets have been removed and before the next ones are visible.
 - Use the same technique for the next group of four targets as before, but
this time leave the left most target until last.

Fast aim speed:
 - increases reticle speed
 - improves aim for moving target
 - destroy or neutralise 12 targets
 - avoid civilian targets
 - avoid head shots
 - pretty easy
 - blast away at most targets and destroy them
 - reload often
 - stop shooting when targets move past civilian targets
 - use precision aim for stationary targets behind civilian targets

Laser sight:
 - engages tracking laser beam during precision aim
 - achieve 10 neutralising shots
 - avoid civilian targets
 - avoid headshots
 - medium difficulty
 - 12 targets are presented but you need to only hit 10
 - move to the right side of the firing range and most shots become easier
 - Use precision aim for all shots
 - you have enough time to make nice smooth movements when aiming
 - The laser sight draws towards the vital points like a magnet when you are
   near the sweet spot
 - the laser sight makes it slightly harder to hit moving targets
 - moving targets are easiest early on before they speed up
 - only fire one shot at a time. The laser sight may accidentally lock to
the head when the gun recoils from your first shot

Flash light:
 - Illuminates vicinity in dark environments.
 - May blind enemy during precision aim.
 - Destroy or neutralise 10 targets.
 - Avoid civilian targets.
 - Avoid head shots.
 - Pretty hard challenge - recommend making a second save - see secrets.
 - All targets will not stay around for long.
 - Use precision aim for all shots to buy some time.
 - Initiate precision aim before the new targets appear. Nick will know where
   to aim.
 - Most targets will be fast moving but close by.
 - Do not wait for the reticle to turn green to make a neutralising shot.
You need to be quick. Go for the legs for all of the targets.
 - Do not hesitate and wait for a clearer shot. The moving targets are easier
as soon as they appear. If you have the shot, take it.
 - One of the targets dead centre will be accompanied by two targets at the
side but you can not see them while you are precision aiming at the centre
target. Take my word for it - they are there. If you do a reload you will
see them, but by then it is too late.
 - Neutralise the middle target immediately and move to the other targets at
   each side.
 - If you had no trouble with other moving targets, then the rest of this
   challenge will be easy.
 - If you did not get a neutralising shot first aim and it is the last
target in that set, you can try to destroy it. Four rapid shots should do
   it normally.
 - If you have got your 10 targets do not risk hitting the civilian target
at the end. You will hate yourself if you do.
 - I have achieved hitting all 12 targets, but you need only 10.

Scope:
 - Provides 2x zoom level during precision aim.
 - Perform 10 head shots.
 - Avoid civilian targets.
 - Medium difficulty.
 - Presented with 13 targets.
 - Use precision aim for all shots. Because you need all head shots you always
need to aim up a little bit while the precision aim is zooming in.
 - Some of the moving targets may be a bit more difficult. Don't waste shots
while the target is moving unless you have anticipated the movement.
Moving targets are easier early on. Anticipate about one head width ahead
of the movement when the target moves slowly.
 - There is enough time to make the shots, but if you have a head shot lock on
before the reticule turns red, take it.
 - It takes time from when you shoot and the bullet reaches the target. If you
are confident of the shot, do not wait and move on to the next target.
 - Reload between sets and precision aim before the new set of targets are in
   place.

Top accuracy:
 - Reduces aim error.
 - Destroy or neutralize 12 targets.
 - Achieve 50% or more accuracy.
 - Avoid head shots and civilian targets.
 - Medium difficulty.
 - 13 targets are presented.
 - Use precision aim for stationary targets.
 - Can use either precision aim or destroy moving targets.
 - Moving target will be faster each set with four civilian targets to avoid.
Allow one, two and three leg widths advance when aiming at the legs using
precision aim. Two legs width is the same as the cardboards edge. Take your
shot before the target gets half way or it will speed up.
 - Auto aiming can work too, but you have to be quick and time your shots
   between civilian targets.

Hollow point ammo:
 - Increases bullet damage factor.
 - Destroy or neutralize 15 targets.
 - Avoid civilian targets and head shots.
 - Hard.
 - This challenge is most easily beat by blasting away, although it can be
   done using precision aim too.
 - When you get two civilian targets wait for them to disappear, then blast
your target when it is near. Same for the next lot.
 - Static targets can be shot by rapidly emptying your gun.
 - You will get a civilian right in front of you twice. First time move right
and blast your target. When he is gone move to the left and blast the next
target. Return to the middle after.
 - Next, blast anything that moves or doesn't.
 - Always reload between sets.
 - You should have destroyed 16 or 17 targets, but you only needed 15.

----------------------------------------------------
Peel-out:
 - Pretty easy.
 - Perform at least one peel-out.
 - Try not to hit any barrels/barriers/people (you can hit no more then 3).
 - Press and hold both the brake(S) and accelerator(X) to get the car
doing a burn out. Then release the brake(S) when the race starts and you
have just performed your first peel-out!
 - There is plenty of time, so negotiate the course at leisure.
 - When you approach black lines across the track, go straight down the
centre. Cardboard people will pop up, but you should miss them easily. Slow
   down if you need to.

Rapid stop:
 - Pretty easy.
 - This manoeuvre is performed while moving forward.
 - Rapid stop: Tap the brake(S), then steer and hold the brake(S).
 - Steer left or right using left-an(left/right) makes the car slide
   sideways and creates a barrier.
 - Steer left-an(down) makes the car stop rapidly in a straight line.
 - You can use this later to block cars you are chasing.
 - Beat the clock, but there is plenty of time, go slow through the bends.
 - avoid obstacles (3).
 - Perform at least 1 rapid stop.
 - Barriers will block your path through out the course, so there are plenty
   of opportunities to practise.
 - You do not have to wait for the barriers to pop up to do the stop.
 - You will notice yellow marks on the black lines where the barriers come up.
 - Only use the straight rapid stop to avoid wasting time on recovery.

PIT manoeuvre:
 - Trickiest of all manoeuvres to perform.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Use the PIT manoeuvre at least once to disable the drone car.
 - The description says to hit the rear of the other car at 45 degrees.
 - Its easier to think of it as running the car of the road, but only the
   back of the car.
 - When executed successfully the other car will be turned around and stopped.
 - Two cars will come out, one at the beginning and one later.
 - You have to drive pretty fast to catch each car.
 - Peel out at the start. Ignore the first car and stay to the left until the
first bend. You are probably ahead by now. When the bend ends continue
steering to the right because the second car is waiting there for you. Aim
for the front/middle of it and ram it into the wall. 1 PIT completed! When
reviewing this technique I hit the car so hard it registered as 13 PIT
   manoeuvres!
 - If you missed it, keep going because now both cars are close together and
success is near. Run the rear of their car off the road and the PIT will
   register.

Downshift boost:
 - Easy.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Perform at least one downshift boost.
 - While moving forward, hold left-an(down) + tap(X) then (X).
 - Shifting to a lower gear provides a momentary burst of acceleration.
 - Perform one downshift boost on a straight part of the course - this will be
marked with white road markings. Make sure you are straight, then do the
boost. If you are not straight wait for next time.
 - You do not need to do it every time you see the markings, one is enough.
 - Don't peel out at the start and register your first downshift boost
straight away instead. Now all you need to do is finish the course.
 - The time limit is pretty generous.
 - Some parts of the course will have lots of barriers to avoid. Slow down and
drive along the wall while it is clear.
 - When you get to black lines across the track you will get pop up barriers.
Drive through on the right hand side for easy passage.

90 turn:
 - Easy.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Perform at least one 90 turn.
 - While moving forward, keep accelerating (X) and turn left-an(left/right)
   and tap the handbrake (O).
 - Allows negotiation of tight turns by sliding the car into the turn.
 - Like the other challenges time is pretty generous, and you have plenty of
opportunities to perform the manoeuvre although you just need to do it
once. The challenge is really to avoid barriers.
 - White markers on the road will let you know where there is a 90 turn.
 - Because you get great corner exit speed you may need to slow down to stop
from crashing on the next corner.
 - You have the same car as before, so expect lots of oversteer.

Forward switchblade:
 - Medium difficulty.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Perform at least one fwd switchblade.
 - While moving forward, tap the handbrake (O) then steer left-an(left/right)
and tap the handbrake (O) again.
 - The car will turn around so that you are now driving backwards although
still in the same direction down the road.
 - Can be used to face the car that is chasing you so that you can shoot at it
   whilst still moving.
 - Through the course it is used to turn the car around so that you can take a
fork in the road going the other way.
 - After performing the move you will be going backwards. Press the handbrake
to stop moving backwards and do not touch the steering.
 - Proceed on the course when the side road barrier opens. You need to be in
the dead end part of the road before the gate will open.
 - Time is a little bit tighter here, but the challenge is easily beat once
   you know the manoeuvre.
 - You can save time by performing the move before the white markers on the
road. That way you do not overshoot the side road too much.

Back switchblade:
 - Medium difficulty.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Perform at least one back switchblade.
 - Same controls as the forward switchblade, but performed while reversing.
 - While moving backward, tap the handbrake (O) then steer left-an(left/right)
and tap the handbrake (O) again.
 - The car will turn around so that you are now driving forwards although
still in the same direction down the road.
 - Can be used to rapidly turn the car around while reversing so that you are
   travelling in a forward direction.
 - Through out the course you will be stopped so that you can reverse. Use the
manoeuvre to turn the car around so that you can take a fork in the road
   going the other way.

 - There is a glitch. Break late at the first barrier. You will go through it.
Proceed along the long straight. Ignore the first turn off, but do a fwd
and a reverse switchblade. Go around the corner at the end and take the
next turn off. One barrier will shut and the side one will open. Follow
the road for an easy finish with lots of time.

Two wheels:
 - Medium difficulty.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Perform at least one two wheels stunt.
 - While moving forward swerve left, right and left then tap the accelerator
then press the accelerator to hop on the two left wheels. Swerve the other
way to pop up on the right wheels.
 - Do not bother negotiating all the barriers on two wheels. Just pull it off
at the beginning. Pop the car back down by releasing the accelerator. Now
negotiate the rest of the course on four wheels. You can try it again on
   two wheels after you passed.
 - There is plenty of time to pass the test.

Nitro boost:
 - Medium difficulty.
 - Nitrous oxide injection provides momentary top speed. Luckily every car in
LA has a NOS kit installed.
 - Beat the clock to the line.
 - Avoid obstacles (hit no more then 3).
 - Perform at least one nitro boost.
 - While moving forward hold left-an(up) and triple tap (X).
 - You only need to perform this once, but there are plenty of safe places to
   try it out.
 - Make sure you slow down for the turns. There are lots of barrels to collide
   with.
 - There is plenty of time to pass the test, even if you only use boost once.

Running attacks:
 - Perform 12 or more running attacks.
 - Pretty easy.
 - Run towards target, and press (T) or (S) or (X). Repeat.

Back attacks:
 - Perform 12 or more back attacks. You have enough time for 30 or so.
 - Easy if you know what to do, and what not to do.
 - Press (T) or (S) or (X). Repeat.
 - Whatever you do, do not move, or you end up facing your nearest target.
 - Targets should keep appearing behind you, which is where you want them.
 - Sometimes they may not line up right and you end up facing the target. You
can either just destroy it and continue, or take three steps back, return
and take one step away. Now you should be facing away again.

Ground attacks:
 - Perform 12 or more ground attacks.
 - Easy.
 - Walk up to the fallen dummy and press either (X), (T) or (S).
 - Clear the floor and more dummies will fall.

Combo: Tiger sweep:
 - Perform 5 or more tiger sweeps.
 - Easy.
 - First you must smack the enemy until they are dazed. The easiest is to
   keep punching with (S).
 - When the enemy is dazed you will get a sound. Wait 1 second and press
   (X) then (T) then (X). A symbol will appear on screen each time you press a
button and it has registered for the combo. The first symbol sometimes will
not appear if you were mashing buttons and did not pause after dazing the
   enemy.
 - If you accidentally presses (T), (X) because the first (X) did not
register, just press (T) and (X) again and you will still register a tiger
sweep. This is easier then it seems because you just need to keep pressing
those two buttons, but only if the first (X) did not register.
 - You have enough time for 10 tiger sweeps, so just take your time and make
sure you get the combo in.
 - If you do the wrong combo, you have to daze the enemy again.
