July 18, 2003

Alright, first release of my FAQ! Finally done it. I've done mostly
everything I've wanted for the FAQ so far, but I might have to make it bigger.
It is the first one I've ever done. If you guys have any suggestions/comments
whatever, just ask and I'll see what I can do (please, only about the FAQ).
But I think I've covered about everything.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

=============================================================================

Chapter 2 = General Enemy Data

I made this FAQ in order to help those who is having trouble beating the
various enemies found in this game. In this FAQ, I will be giving information
about all of the foes you will meet during your quest, and how you will be
able to defeat them.

LEGEND FOR ATTACKS:

HIT : The basic enemy attack, like your quick attack. This attack is in most
cases followed by a white `stream'.

KD : A Knockdown Attack. It is a strong attack, and does as the name says, it
knocks you down. Watch out for this one. Most enemies only use these attacks
when running, so there is no use of out-running it (trust me). Just Parry it.
This attack is in most cases followed by a red `stream'.

GRAB : Pretty much, just a special, unique attack. The moves look similar to
the Bane moves, except that they don't kill you in one hit. They are used
when you parry against a character too much, as the GRAB attacks cannot be
parried. These attacks knock you down also.

PROJECTILE : A Projectile attack. These attacks are only done by any Archer,
the Warg Rider Orc, and the Olog-Hai Troll.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Throughout the game, you will be fighting many different species of enemies.
Here is a general analysis of each species.

Goblins:

Goblins, or mountain orcs, are the weakest enemy that you will meet in the
entire game. They are small, but very nimble. There are only three types of
goblins in the game, the Regular Goblin (or Common Goblin), a Shield Goblin,
and an Archer Goblin. Goblins can execute a quick attack, but no type of
goblin that you will meet in the game has a Knockdown attack. They can appear
in the most unexpected places, so watch out for anything. Especially watch
out if you see some gravel or dust fall down from a high place, for they will
be jumping down for a surprise attack. Their real strength is in their
numbers, so focus on just killing them quickly.

Orcs:

Strong? Yes.
Fast? Yes.
Annoying? Yes.

These monsters are the most irritating species in the game, in my opinion.
They are well armed and have fairly good armor endurance. They travel in
large groups (about 6 or 7) and try to ambush you sometimes. For the
Axewielders, use quick attacks often. For the Shielded orcs, use Fierce
attacks very often. Orcs are also known to be able to tame Wargs, a monster
species of wolf, and ride them as Men ride horses. Use arrows/axes on them.

Uruk-Hai:

Breeded by the Enemy, these Orc-Men are a very powerful species. They are
black-skinned, and wield a powerful sword. They can withstand sunlight, so
you'll see them often in the later levels. Tall and fast, these guys can take
quite a beating. There are many types of Uruk-Hai: Average Uruk-Hai, Soldier
Uruk-Hai, Lieutenant Uruk-Hai, Swordwielder Uruk-Hai, Beserker Uruk-Hai, and
then the Archer Uruk-Hai. For beating them, use your fierce attacks. Other
than that, use your Bane, if you have it.

Trolls:

Trolls are simply the juggernauts of the game. They are extremely strong,
big, have good range, are deceptively fast, and can take a very big beating.
Thank goodness they are not as common as the other enemies, because they are
just used as bosses or sub-bosses. There are two types of Trolls, the
infamous Cave Troll, and then the advanced Olog-Hai. Watch out for these
guys.

=============================================================================

Chapter 3 - Enemy Database

In this part of the FAQ, I will be listing all of the enemies in the game
(except the bosses) with information. Here is an example on how I will give
out the data.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enemy Name

-Description: How the enemy looks.

-Weapon(s): How the weapon(s) looks.

-Attacks:

Name of Attack: Description of attack.

Type of Attack: HIT, KD, GRAB, or PROJECTILE.

-Strategy: Best ways to kill the enemy.

-First Level: First level they appear in.

-Other: Other little things of the enemy which you might have not have
noticed. These are not for a lot of enemies.

NOTE: All descriptions of the enemies are not including the bosses.
Ex. This is the fastest enemy in the game. It is only including the regular
enemies of the game, not like Lurtz, a boss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There you go! Now here's the `chart'. The order of enemies will be Goblins,
Orcs, Uruk-Hai, and then the Trolls.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Whenever I advise you to use a
Quick Attack for an enemy, if you are Legolas,
DO NOT use it! His quick attack is awful.
Just use your Arrows or Fierce attack instead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Goblins

Regular Goblin(Common Goblin)

-Description: Is short and skinny. Stoops down whenever it stands. Has long,
pointy ears, and locks of black hair. Wears some sort of grey/brown-ish
clothing.

-Weapon: A short curved sabre.

-Attacks:

Slash: A quick, short slash with it's sabre. Wow.
Type of attack: HIT

Running Strike: When running, the goblin will do a jump, and then slash
downwards.
Type of attack: HIT

Stab: A unique attack, really. The goblin will put both hands on the handle
of the sabre, and then stab it towards you. It's a pretty rare attack, but it
really just does the same damage as the other attacks.
Type of Attack: HIT

-Strategy: USE YOUR QUICK ATTACKS! Trust me. Your quick attacks have good
horizontal range, and these guys are likely to be all around you. If there is
a pack of them, don't go into the fray of them. Stay away, and use quick
attacks. But stand your ground. These guys are very nimble, and sidestep very
quickly (and annoyingly often) too. These guys are often hiding in high, hard
to reach places. If you come too near, they will jump down like lightning. So
watch out if you see a lot of dust and stuff fall from a high place, and then
be on extra caution for a surprise attack. Just kill `em off quickly so you
can have enough time and energy to kill the harder enemies. These guys don't
have any attacks which can knock you down.

-First Level: Gates of Moria

-Other: These are the only enemies that get knocked down with a kick attack.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shielded Goblin

-Description: These guy's are again, short and skinny, and still stoops down
when it stands, but this Goblin looks a bit more bigger than the Common
Goblins. They have a face mask, grey armor on his body, and a metal shield on
left arm.

-Weapon: A club, with several spikes on it. Also his metal shield.

-Attacks:

Slash: A quick, short whack with it's club. Wow.
Type of attack: HIT

Running Strike: When running, the goblin will do a jump, and then whack it's
club downwards.
Type of attack: HIT

Shield Slash: It uppercuts the shield it is wielding and tries to hit you
with it. An average attack.
Type of attack: HIT

-Strategy: These guy's strategy is not much different than the common
goblins. They are annoying, because their shields stop all of your quick
attacks and arrows/axes. So all you really have to do is take out their shields
with a Fierce attack. After that, you'll notice that their armor on their
bodies is just a decoration! They are as weak as goblins in endurance, and
not as fast and nimble, but they ARE stronger, so don't underestimate them.

-First Level: Balin's Tomb

-Other: If you break it's shield and then it uses it's Shield Slash, it will
do an uppercut with his fist! All the same technical stuff though.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Archer Goblin

-Description: Just like the regular goblins, except has a face mask and
wields a bow. These are V-E-R-Y rare enemies, because they are usually
replaced by the orc archer. Actually, I don't even think they show up except
in a cinematic in Helm's Deep: The Deeping Wall. Other than that I am not
sure.

-Weapon(s): A Bow.

-Attacks:
Fire Arrow: Fires a Fire-tipped arrow at you. Does extremely minimal damage.
Type of attack: PROJECTILE

-Strategy: Find it's rhythm of firing (for it fires about every 3 seconds)
and then fire your arrows/axes at it.

-First Level: ???

-Other: I give this the ol'N/A.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Orcs

Axewielder Orc

-Description: Okay, now take a regular human, and make him have long, pointy
ears, no hair, and pale-ish green skin. Now give him a swift kick in the back
so he stoops down a bit. There you are! Now, just add some brownish clothing,
and you've got yourself an Axewielder. These guy's have NO armor whatsoever.

-Weapons: Two small, one-sided axes (one axe for each hand).

-Attacks:

Slash: It will take it's two axes to one side, and then slash. Does minor
damage. Can hit you from behind.
Type of attack: HIT

Double Slash: Ah...one of the most annoying attacks in the game. It will do
the Slash attack, do a 360 turn, and then Slash again. VERY annoying, and
does lots of damage.
Type of attack: KD

Trip: If you parry too much, then it will trip you. Pretty rare actually.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: Real simple. First, parry his attacks, especially his Double
Slash. Then either use quick attacks if your alone, and Fierce attacks if
your fighting a group (especially if Shielded Orcs are there).

-First Level: Prologue

-Other: If you or any of your allies are around and on the floor, they will
try to hurt them by striking their axes against the ground. Strangely, I
never saw this do any damage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shielded Orc

-Description: These guys have helms, so you can't see their face, only their
eyes and their baring teeth. They have a small ponytail of hair at the back
of their heads. Has the same design of clothes as the Axewielder, but is
brown. Has a large wooden shield.

-Weapons: It's Four-pronged spear and it's Wooden Shield (yes, it's a weapon
also).

-Attacks:

Spear Attack: It will do a horizontal slash with it's spear. Does minimal
damage.
Type of attack: HIT

Shield Attack: It will make it's shield go horizontal-wise, and then swing it
to one side, and then to the other.
Type of attack: HIT

Running Strike: Does the same as the Spear attack, except he will jump in the
air and the attack will knock you down.
Type of attack: KD

Spear Grab: He thrusts his spear in your chest, holds you up in the air,
suspended by the spear, for a second, and then throws you down. Rare attack,
with OK damage.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: VERY annoying enemy. When he shows up, he ruins all of your plans
to your vacation to the orc slaughterhouse. When he shows up in a group, JUST
GET RID OF HIM OR HIS SHIELD FIRST! You will get a hefty beating if you
don't. And DO NOT try to outrun his Running Strike attack, even though it
seems like you can. Parry it before it is too late. Then use a Fierce attack
and wreck his shield. Or, use a good combo (my favourite is the Death Charge and
War Rush) to wreck his shield.

-First Level: Prologue

-Other: If you break it's shield and then it uses it's Shield attack, it will
swing his arm instead. Also, if you or any of your allies are around and on
the floor, they will try to hurt them by striking their spears against the
ground. Strangely, I never saw this do any damage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warg Rider

-Description: The actual Warg Rider is like an orc with this wierd black armor
on. It has a black facemask, and a Bow and Arrow. The Warg, though, is like a
cross of a wolf and a hyena, and is very big for a wolf or hyena. The orc rides
the Warg like a horse. These guys only appear in one level, the Gap of Rohan.

-Weapon(s): A Bow.

-Attacks:
Fire Arrow: Fires a Fire-tipped arrow at you. Does very minimal damage.
Type of attack: PROJECTILE

Warg Tackle: The Warg runs straight at you and tries to tackle you. A bit of
damage.
Type of attack: KD

-Strategy: Fire you arrows/axes. It's the best way. When it tries to tackle
you, just move out of the way.

-First Level: Gap of Rohan

-Other: None.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Orc Archer

-Description: Is like the regular orcs, but has a silver face mask and uses a
bow.

-Weapon(s): Another Bow.

-Attacks:
Fire Arrow: Fires a Fire-tipped arrow at you. Does very minimal damage.
Sometimes, the Orc might have exploding arrows instead, and these do much
more damage. It depends on which Orc archer you get, for they are both the
same except for the type of arrows they have.
Type of attack: PROJECTILE

-Strategy: Find it's rhythm of firing (for it fires about every 3 seconds)
and then fire your arrows/axes at it. Pretty weak enemy. Or, if he is near
the edge of a cliff or something, you an kick him off for an "Excellent"
kill.

-First Level: Gates of Moria

-Other: Zilch. Nada. Zip. In other words, none.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uruk-Hai

Average Uruk-Hai

-Description: The first Uruk-Hai of the game. He wears greenish clothing,
with some rags and armor. It has a face mask. The stature is that of a grown
man, but stoops down a bit when it runs.

-Weapon(s): A long , one sided sword.

-Attacks:

Slash: He swings his sword to the opposite side. A bit of damage.
Type of attack: HIT

Backhand Slash: He puts his sword to his right and then swings to the left
(The opposite of the Slash, really.)
Type of attack: HIT

Knockdown Slash: He swings his sword diagonally down. Pretty good damage.
Type of attack: KD

-Strategy: Go for the Quick attacks in small groups, and Fierce attacks in
larger groups. I find it a waste of time using your Bane, but use it when
your overwhelmed. These guys are very underestimated, so take them at least a
little seriously.

-First Level: Amon-Hen

-Other: Nothing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soldier Uruk-Hai

-Description: The main enemy of the game. Wears black armor, has black skin,
and wears a face mask.

-Weapon(s): A long , one sided sword. Same as the Average Uruk-Hai.

-Attacks:

Slash: He swings his sword to the opposite side. A fairly uncommon attack. A
bit of damage.
Type of attack: HIT

Double Sword Slash: Swings his sword back and forth once. Very good damage if
both slashes hit.
Type of attack: HIT

Running Slash: A very powerful attack. It jumps into the air, puts his sword
over his shoulder with both hands, and slashes down hard.
Type of attack: KD

Uppercut: He uppercuts you. Average damage. Rare attack.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: These guys are strong with powerful attacks and travel in large
groups. If they are in a large group, use your quick attacks to lessen their
numbers, then finish them off with some Fierce attacks.

-First Level: Plains of Rohan

-Other: If you or any of your allies are around and on the floor, they will
try to hurt them by striking their swords against the ground. Strangely, I
never saw this do any damage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uruk-Hai Lieutenant

-Description: A very uncommon enemy in the game, found only in the Helms
Deep: The Breached Wall and the Hornburg Courtyard (which is a total of only
2 in the game). Also found in the Deeping Wall cinematics. Wears black armor,
has black skin, but does not wear a helm or face mask. He has the Sign of
Saruman (The white hand) on his chest armor.

-Weapon(s): A long , one sided sword. Same as the Soldier Uruk-Hai.

-Attacks:

Slash: He swings his sword to the opposite side. A fairly uncommon attack. A
bit of damage.
Type of attack: HIT

Double Sword Slash: He slashes his sword diagonally upwards to his opposite
shoulder, and then slashes vertically downwards.
Type of attack: HIT

Running Slash: A very powerful attack. It jumps into the air, puts his sword
over his shoulder with both hands, and slashes down hard. The same as the
Soldier Uruk-hai's knockdown attack.
Type of attack: KD

Uppercut: He uppercuts you. Average damage. Rare attack.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: This guy is actually not that harder than the Soldier Uruk-Hai. He
is not ever in a group of more than 3, so it will be easy getting rid of him.
But, I find it hard to be able to parry most of his attacks, strange as it
is. Maybe it is just me. Anyway, just use your Fierce attacks.

-First Level: Helm's Deep: Breached Wall

-Other: Nothing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Swordwielder Uruk-Hai

-Description: Insane. There you go.

Just kidding. These guys are nuts. Even though they has no armor whatsoever,
they are one of the most strongest enemies in the game. They never get tired,
somehow. Why, some even say they are harder than Trolls! They parry every one
of your attacks, except if you do it at the exact right time. They have a
white face mask, is tall and very strong. It has black skin, and is the
fastest enemy in the game. This is the same enemy as when, in the movie,
the Uruk-hai were lifting the ladders onto the Wall. These guys were right on top
of the ladders when they were being lifted, if you remember.

-Weapon(s): A very long, dual-sided sword. Very dangerous., very strong.

-Attacks:

Fury Slash: Slashes back and forth twice. Powerful attack. Can hit while your
on the ground.
Type of attack: KD (even though it has a white stream behind it)

Slice and Dice: Slashes like a mental person on steroids several times (I
think 3 or 4), and then finishes it off with a slash to the ground. This can
also hit you when you are on the ground. Very powerful attack.
Type of attack: KD (this one has a red stream behind it)

Sword Handle Slam: Uses it's handle of the sword to punch you out.
Unfortunately, it is a fairly common attack.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: These guys are near invincible without either the Rising attack,
Arrows/Axes (which will be like mosquitoes to him), or the Bane (which you
probably won't have when you first meet them in Fangorn Forest). His attacks
are long and hard. Here are the strategies:

1) Get knocked down, and then hope that he is close so that you can hit him
with a Rising attack when you get back up. Then, when he is on the ground,
use your Shadow Strike (the Killing Move, R2) to finish it off. If the
rising attack misses, though...The War Rush work really well too.

2) Another strategy is the harder one. Before and after each of his attacks,
do a quick attack. Hopefully, it will make a hit. But remember, it parries
your attacks near 90% of the time, so get the Rising attack before you get
to Fangorn Forest.

3) The Ultimate Strategy...USE YOUR BANE! Since he attacks so much, you will
always have a chance to parry.

-First Level: Fangorn Forest

-Other: These guys are so strong, they hurt their allies while trying to hurt
you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beserker Uruk-Hai

-Description: Suicide Bombers is one way to explain them. These guys look
just like the Swordwielder, except has more build and looks a bit bigger. It
also holds a torch and has a couple of barrels of explosives tied on top of
him. And Saruman isn't a very good parent, telling them not to play with
fire...These guys and the Swordwielder have one more thing in common - they
are both insane. Driven by Sauron and Saruman, the Beserkers make sure that
you are blown to the same size of little bits as they are about to turn into,
too.

-Weapon(s): A Torch and Barrels of Explosives is all I think I need to say.

-Attacks:

Explosion: It blows itself up in order to hurt you. The force area of the
blast is large, and the Uruk-Hai blow up as soon as they make contact with
their target.
Type of attack: HIT

-Strategy: Fire your arrows/axes. It's that easy. One arrow or axe will blow
them up in their tracks.

-First Level: The Westfold

-Other: None.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uruk-Hai Archer

-Description: Looks like the regular orc archer, except is a bit bigger in
stature, and has Uruk-Hai armor on.

-Weapon(s): A Bow and a packet of Fire-Bombs.

-Attacks:
Fire Arrow: Fires a Fire-tipped arrow at you. Does very minimal damage.
Type of attack: PROJECTILE

Fire Bomb: Throws a small grey bag at you, which then explodes and catches
the surrounding floor on fire. Does a lot of damage if you step into the
fire. Also, the bag itself can hit you, which does minimal damage.
Type of attack: PROJECTILE & HIT

-Strategy: Find it's rhythm of firing (for it fires about every 3 seconds)
and then fire your arrows/axes at it. Usually, the enemy is on the ground, so
you can use your regular attacks on it. Or, if he is near the edge of a cliff
or something, you an kick him off for an "Excellent" kill.

-First Level: Amon-Hen

-Other: Use the fire from the Bomb's to catch your enemies on fire.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trolls

Cave Troll

-Description: These guys are BIG, STRONG, and can take a very big beating.
They have greyish scaly skin, with a lighter underbelly, and some rags for
clothes. They have three fingers on each long arm, and two short legs. Oh,
and they have a giant spiked club to top it off. But, they are extremely
stupid, thankfully.

-Weapon(s): A large spiked club, like a mace.

-Attacks: Note: All of the cave trolls attacks do a lot of damage and knock
you down.

Club Swing: It holds it's club with both hands and swings once. Common
attack. Good horizontal range. Powerful, too.
Type of attack: KD

One-Handed Slam: It raises it's club in the air with one hand and slams down
quickly. Also pretty common attack.
Type of attack: KD

Two-Handed Slam: It raises the club in the air with both hands for a second,
and then slams down HARD. Very powerful, but leaves time for you to attack.
Type of attack: KD

-Strategy: These guys will not be hurt by a quick attack, so don't try. There
is also no bane for it, unfortunately. Also, you cannot parry any of it's
attacks. But, there are several ways of beating him:

1) Use your arrows/axes. Takes the longest and is not that effective.

2) Use the main strategy, hit and run. Use a Fierce attack when it is not
attacking and then run away out of range. It will try to hit you. If you
ran away far enough, if will miss. Then go in again, and again, until it
falls down and you hear the ground rumbling.

3) The Ultimate Strategy. Use a Fierce attack non-stop on him, but only the
FIRST Fierce attack, not the one where you bring you weapon downwards, so
you have to time it right. He will not have any time to react. Just
practice on this one, and you'll fly through these guys.

NOTE: It is harder to do the Ultimate Strategy for Gimli, because he is
slower.

-First Level: Balin's Tomb

-Other: These guys also attack their allies too. He doesn't care if they get
in their way of his attack. Yay for us. :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Olog-Hai

-Description: The Olog-Hai are told to be the Troll and Orc races bred
together. These guys look similar to the Cave Troll, except it is a bit
lighter in colour. It still has the greyish scaly hide, though. It has a kind
of green Goblin/Orc face. It also has a big pouch on his hip, which holds the
Logs he throws. The Olog-hai are stronger, faster, and smarter than them
though.

-Weapon(s): A large spiked club, just like the Cave Troll. Also has a packet
of small wood logs it uses as it's projectile weapon.

-Attacks: Note: All of his attacks are quicker than the Cave Troll's attacks.

Club Swing: It holds it's club with both hands and swings once. Good
horizontal range. Powerful, too.
Type of attack: KD

One-Handed Slam: It raises it's club in the air with one hand and slams down
quickly.
Type of attack: KD

Two-Handed Slam: It raises the club in the air with both hands for a second,
and then slams down HARD. Very powerful.
Type of attack: KD

Log Throw: It reaches for a log in it's pouch then throws it at you. Most
common, if you are far away from it. Fairly strong.
Type of Attack: PROJECTILE

Piledriver: It grabs you, holds you up in the air, looks at you for a moment
as you squirm about, and then slams you down into the ground. Pretty strong
attack. Common, too.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: These guys will not be hurt by a quick attack, so don't
try. There is also no bane for it, unfortunately. Also, you cannot parry any
of it's attacks. But, there are two ways of beating him:

1. When it's back is turned (which is very uncommon) shoot an arrow/axe. You
have to be quick. But this does the least damage and you'll probably never kill
them like that. Just try and use the other strategies, but only fire an
arrow/axe when your given to chance to.

2. Use the main strategy, hit and run. Use a Fierce attack when it is not
attacking and then run away out of range. It will try to hit you. If you
ran away just far enough, if will miss. Then go in again, and again, until
it falls down and you hear the ground rumbling.

3. The Ultimate Strategy. Use a Fierce attack non-stop on him, but only the
FIRST fierce attack, not the one where you bring you weapon downwards, so
you have to time it right. He will not have any time to react. Just
practice on this one, and you'll fly through these guys.

NOTE: It is harder to do the Ultimate Strategy for Gimli, because he is
slower.

-First Level: Fangorn Forest

-Other: These guys also attack their allies too. He doesn't care if they get
in their way of his attack. Yay for us. :D

Chapter 4 - Bosses

This is the chapter where I tell you descriptions and strategies on all of
the bosses of the game. I'll try to be as detailed as possible. Here is a
list of the bosses in order and the level they appear in. But not all levels
have bosses for them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ringwraiths                 : Weathertop
Watcher in the Water : Gates Of Moria
Moria Cave Troll         : Balin's Tomb
Lurtz                           : Amon Hen
2 Olog-Hai's                : Fangorn Forest
Warg Leader              : Gap of Rohan
Catapult                      : Helm's Deep: Breached Wall
2 Cave Trolls              : Helm's Deep: Hornburg Courtyard

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 1 - Weathertop - 5 Ringwraiths

-Description: 5 Ringwraiths...Looks like people in black robes, with their
hood over their heads. Holds a sword.

-Weapon(s): A Sword.

-Attacks:

Sword Slash: Pulls his sword back a bit then slashes at you. Very weak.
Type of attack: HIT

Sword Thrust: Pulls his sword back then stabs forward fast.
Type of attack: KD

Sword Stab: When they start to attack Frodo on the ground, they use a slow stab attack.
Type Of Attack: HIT (I guess...)
-Strategy:

Phase 1: This is easy. In the battle, you can only use your torch to hurt
them, so just keep on using your fierce attack on them non-stop. Don't worry
about Frodo - he can't be hurt now. Just keep on attacking the Ringwraiths.
If your torch runs out, just use a fierce attack on the campfire to relight
it.

Phase 2: Now Frodo will turn invisible with the Ring, but the Ringwraiths now
sense him. Still fight them, until another cutscene shows Frodo being stabbed
by a Ringwraith sword. Now he can get hurt. Just keep on fighting, and you
will win. This is a very easy fight.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 2 - Gates of Moria - Watcher in the Water

-Description: Like a giant squid, though you can only see its head and
tentacles. The Squid always has at the most three tentacles over the water.
The area is a dark, murky pond.

-Weapon(s): It's tentacles.

-Attacks:

Tentacle Whip: Whips it's tentacle at you.
Type of attack: KD

-Strategy: The only way you can hurt the Watcher is to shoot an arrow/axe at
it's head, but you can't when it is under the water. It uses it's tentacles to
whip at you. You cannot dodge them, so parry them. When you parry them, the
tentacles go straight up in the water. When they do this, go at them in the
water and use a quick attack. They will be cut off. When any one tentacle
gets cut off, the Watcher will pop his head out from the water. Now, fire an
arrow/axe at it. Do this over again and again, until he dies.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 3 - Balin's Tomb - Moria Cave Troll

-Description: This guy looks just like any other Cave Troll, except that he
is a bit stronger (in endurance). Not really much to say here.

-Weapon(s):

Phase 1: Spiked Club

Phase 2: Chain Whip

-Attacks:

Club Swing: It holds it's club with both hands and swings once. Common
attack. Good horizontal range. Powerful, too. (Phase 1)
Type of attack: KD

One-Handed Slam: It raises it's club in the air with one hand and slams down
quickly. Also pretty common attack. (Phase 1)
Type of attack: KD

Two-Handed Slam: It raises the club in the air with both hands for a second,
and then slams down HARD. Very powerful, but leaves some time to attack.(Phase
1)
Type of attack: KD

Chain Whip: Whips it's chain at you. Lots of damage. (Phase 2)
Type of attack: KD

-Strategy:

Phase 1: This is SO easy. Just use the strategies I gave you for the Cave
Trolls, and you'll do fine. This guy is no different than the others. But
don't get hit by his attacks - they still do a lot of damage (he is still a Troll,
if you noticed). Oh, and also concern the oncoming hordes of Goblins coming
through the door.

Phase 2: Now, this is where it's gets different. The cutscene shows that the
Troll broke his club, so he gets a length of chain off of the ground. You
climb up to the perimeter around the room, which is surrounded by stone
pillars. When you start moving around, hide behind a pillar. The Troll is on
the ground, trying to whip you with the chain. But, if you are hiding behind
a pillar, he will hit the pillar with the chain instead. Now, if you move a
bit to the side so you can have a clear shot of the Troll, but you are still
close to the pillar, shoot your arrows/axes! If you are close enough to the
pillar, the Troll will still be hitting it, but you will be able to hit him!
After the Troll hits the pillar 3 times, the pillar will fall, so just go
behind another one and repeat the steps!

NOTE: A Goblin pops up on the perimeter several times on Phase 2, so keep
your guard up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 4 - Amon Hen - Lurtz

Description: He looks like a brown Uruk-Hai, with the White Hand painted on
his face. He has some hair coming out from his head. He has armor on the
chest, but none on the arms/legs. No face mask either. He wears big brown
gloves.

-Weapon(s):

Phase 1: Bow and Arrow.

Phase 2: Uruk-Hai Sword.

-Attacks:

Fire Arrow: Fires 3 arrows after another, waits a moment, and then does it
again. OK damage. (Phase 1)
Type of attack: PROJECTILE

Tackle: Tackles you if you get too close. Good damage. (Phase 1)
Type of attack: KD

Slash: Lurtz will do a powerful slash. (Phase 2)
Type of attack: HIT

Double Slash: Lurtz will do a little hop, do the slash attack, and then do
another the opposite way. Good attack. (Phase 2)
Type of attack: HIT

Knockdown Slash: Lurtz will do a forceful slash. Good range and powerful.
(Phase 2)
Type of attack: KD

Double Knockdown Slash: Lurtz will do a little hop, do the Knockdown slash,
and then do another the opposite way. Great attack. Very powerful. (Phase 2)
Type of attack: KD

Uppercut: He uppercuts you. Average damage. Rare attack. (Phase 2)
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy:

Phase 1: After he has killed Boromir, you and Lurtz will be standing away
from each other on the battlefield, which has statues near the perimeter. Lurtz
will be shooting fire arrows at you very quickly, so dodge them. Don't get
real close to him, though, because he will use the Tackle attack. Just fire
an arrow/axe at it when it pauses for a second. If you are quick enough, you
might be able to attack him non-stop (lucky you). Do this until a cutscene
comes showing Lurtz give out a war cry, then dropping his bow and picking up
a sword off from the ground.

Phase 2: After Lurtz gets his shiny new sword, he wants to see how sharp it is.
This guy is by far the fastest guy in the game. He is about 2 or 3 times faster than
you. Anyway, don't shoot arrows/axes or attack him with your weapon, because he
will parry all of them. To beat him, make him attack a statue! Hide behind a
statue and try to make him hit it. His sword will get stuck in it (well,
now he knows how sharp his sword is...). He will try to break out for about
4-5 seconds, then break free and break the statue. So now is your chance
to make him taste cold steel. Hit him as much times as you can with your Fierce
attacks. When he gets out, just repeat the instructions until he is defeated.

Another way is the much harder way. If you waste out of pillars to use, make
him hit you with a KD attack, then use a rising attack. Lurtz will be dizzy
for about 2 seconds. Now is your chance to hit him.

NOTE: Average Uruk-hai will come occasionally during the fight. Take care of
these before Lurtz, because they will ruin your plans.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 5 - Fangorn Forest - 2 Olog Hai's

Description:
If one of these monsters is a challenge for you
What would you do if you had to beat two?

These guys are just two normal Olog-hai's, really, nothing special about
them. It's just that there is two of them.

-Weapon(s): A spiked club and the packet of throwing logs for each of the
Olog-hai.

-Attacks:

Club Swing: It holds it's club with both hands and swings once. Good
horizontal range. Powerful, too.
Type of attack: KD

One-Handed Slam: It raises it's club in the air with one hand and slams down
quickly.
Type of attack: KD

Two-Handed Slam: It raises the club in the air with both hands for a second,
and then slams down HARD. Very powerful.
Type of attack: KD

Log Throw: It reaches for a log in it's pouch then throws it at you. Most
common, if you are far away from it. Fairly strong.
Type of Attack: PROJECTILE

Piledriver: It grabs you, holds you up in the air, looks at you for a moment
as you squirm about, and then slams you down into the ground. Pretty strong
attack. Common, too.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: Now, in this battlefield, the two Trolls will be pretty much
standing at each end. Oh, if you need health in the battle, there is a box
all the way at the right end. Now, to beat these guys, take it one guy at a
time, and act like he is just a regular Troll. Use the Strategies for the
Olog-Hai. Then go for the other one after one of them is dead. Sorry, but I
can't really give you more information on these guys, because they are just
like regular Trolls.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 6 - Gap of Rohan - Warg Leader

-Description: He looks just like an axewielder, really, but with different
armor, and he has a Sabre, not a Bow and Arrow.

-Weapon(s):  The Warg is a good weapon. Also the Sabre which he has.

-Attacks:

Tackle: More advanced than the Warg Rider's tackle because it `homes' in on
you. He can steer the Warg while doing the attack.
Type of attack: KD

Slash: The Warg bites your leg, holds you up to the Leader, and then he
Slashes you twice with his Sabre. Then the Warg throws you down to the
ground. Powerful attack.
Type of attack: GRAB

-Strategy: Okay after you kill all of the other Warg Riders on the field,
it's just you and the Warg Leader. He blocks ALL of your attacks with his
sabre. Now, all you have to do is stay in the water for a bit, but not that
far out. The Warg Leader does not like water, so he will not be able to get
you when he tries to tackle you. After 3 attempts, the Warg will stand on his
hind legs, showing his underbelly. Go up to him, and fire an arrow/axe before he
gets back down. He will now be trying to recover from your attack. It will
take about 3-4 seconds. Now, attack him as much times as you can with your
fierce attack. Then run away fast. If he recovers and your right next to him,
he will attack. Repeat these steps until he is beaten.

NOTE: A Warg Rider comes onto the battlefield occasionally. Take care of him
quickly, because the battle cannot continue with him on the field.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 7 - Helm's Deep: The Breached Wall - Catapult

-Description: A big, wooden catapult. Can't really say much else.

-Weapon(s): It IS a weapon.

-Attacks:

Flaming Bomb: Hurls a huge flaming bomb at the door. GET AWAY FROM THIS
ATTACK! If it lands right on you, it's a one hit kill.
Type of attack: HIT & PROJECTILE

-Strategy: After this long and grueling level, they send the wooden catapult
to the breach in the wall. This thing is big, and with more than a dozen
enemies. There are Archers, Soldiers, and Shielded Orcs defending it. Take
care of all of these guys quickly! The fight will be much easier without
them. Now, after a big fight with all of them, go to the catapult. There are
3 weak spots - the front and the two sides. You can see big wooden panels on
them. Attack them like crazy. To get best results, use your Devastating
Attack (Hold Triangle down) in-between a side panel and the front do you can
get two panels in one attack. Attack the other panel(s) as quick as you can
before the door breaks, and then walk away with a victory on a very tough
level!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boss 8 - Helm's Deep: Hornburg Courtyard - 2 Cave Trolls

-Description: Two Cave Trolls. There you go.

-Weapon(s): A Spiked Club for each Troll.

-Attacks:

Club Swing: It holds it's club with both hands and swings once. Good
horizontal range. Powerful, too.
Type of attack: KD

One-Handed Slam: It raises it's club in the air with one hand and slams down
quickly.
Type of attack: KD

Two-Handed Slam: It raises the club in the air with both hands for a second,
and then slams down HARD. Very powerful, but leaves some time to attack.
Type of attack: KD

-Strategy: Right near the end of this blood rushing battle, 2 Cave Trolls
decide to join. Now, you would expect them to come to you, like always, but
they go straight for the wall. Now, since Swordwielders and Soldiers are
everywhere now, it will be hard to concentrate. But you have to focus on
killing the trolls. Go in-between them both, and try to use a Devastating
attack. If you don't use it, the wall is probably going to break sooner than
you think. And it is hard to use it, because enemies are everywhere. But
still, try to kill the trolls as fast as you can with the Devastating attack.
It is hard to do, but once you kill them, the battle is over. Sorry I can't
help you more, but when the bosses come, it's pure mayhem on the entire
field. You just have to focus.

Congratulations! You have beaten the Hornburg Courtyard!
