3.      Introduction

Welcome to Cervantes' Guide. Soul Calibur II came out with a bang in late
August. Players rushed to the stores to buy it. I'm here today to add
Cervantes Moves to that long list of move lists. Cervantes is my favorite
character, and I'd like to share with him how dominant he can be in SCII.

Strengths: Cervantes is a powerhouse. Most of his moves are focused on power
rather then agility. I've been able to take out many enemies in about 3
seconds using powerful combos along with powerful weapons.

Weakness: While he excels in power, he's pretty slow. Talim can run circles
around him (but that doesn't mean she's better). You'll have to move quickly
as you can if you face a fast character.

4.      Cervantes Profile (from the game)

Name: Cervantes de Leon
-----

Age: 48 (Aging has stopped)
Birthplace: Valencia, Spanish Empire
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 176 lbs.
Birth Date: January 1
Blood Type: None
Weapon: Soul Edge (Long sword type) & Pistol Sword
Weapon Name: Soul Edge & Nirvana
Discipline: Memories of Soul Edge

Family: Father/Killed in battle
       Mother/Deceased
His Crew/Slaughtered by his own hands

Under the influence of Soul Edge, the dead pirate Cervantes slaughtered his
entire crew and fed off of souls of swordsmen whom dared to venture forth to
challenge him.

But one day, a holy warrior sent by God destroyed one of the demonic blades,
and Cervantes' body was consumed by hellfire.

His soul, however, was not freed by the destruction of his corporeal form.
The pieces of Soul Edge buried in his body resurrected Cervantes.

He had lost the most of his memory, but it eventually came flooding back.
Along
with his memories came back the desire to possess that great power once again.
Although he recalled the loss of his free will to the power, it still appealed
to him. Cervantes began to seek the fragments of the sword, only to realize
that the second sword had been shattered as well.

He picked up several pieces of the newly created shards and gazed upon them.
Was his desire to possess that power again for naught? That was when Cervantes
sensed something strange. Two pieces of the sword in his palm began to resonate
with his body and began to melt into one.

Four years passed. He took souls of the strong and found new pieces of the
sword to increase the power of Soul Edge. In time, the fragments assumed the
shape of a sword and began to emanate an evil aura.

His ultimate goal was the revival of Soul Edge. To accomplish his goal, he
needed as many fragments of the evil blade as he could find.

He's delightfully evil isn't he?

6.      Cervantes' Weapons

Soul Edge and Nirvana- The fragments of Soul Edge inside Cervantes' body
acted through his sword to consume souls and eventually take on the form of
a sword. Nirvana has a pistol built into it and it is a very unusual weapon.
They are balanced weapons, but pale in comparison to the real cursed sword
itself.

Falchion- A curved, single edged sword used in Europe from the Dark Ages up
through the Renaissance. The blade is wide, heavy, and good at splitting
things into two. It's sturdiness works well defensively, and it is unlikely
to break from normal blows.

Firangi- A sword used many times in the past by invaders that troubled the
Mughul Empire. It is unique to this region, but its' design looks Western.
It has a sharp blade, but the grip does not fit Cervantes' hand very well.

Erlang's Blade- Also called a tri-pointed, double edged sword, it's name
comes from the Chinese hero god, Erlang. It is actually a pole weapon, but
Cervantes cut the handle short in order to make the sword easier to hold. It
has good reach, but because it is not as long as it was designed to be, the
balance is poor.

Archeron- A long sword which laid in storage along with the Nirvana on
Cervantes' flagship, the Adrian. Cervantes used this sword for a while
before reviving Soul Edge. It is good for both offense and defense. But when
it blocks a blow, the shock is fierce, which takes its toll on the wielder's
body.

Phlegethon- Flames run along this blade when it strikes a target, and it is
said that no forge on earth that can melt it. Soon after being discovered in
the crater of Mt. Etna, it was taken by someone and disappeared, leaving
many rumors behind. Its deadly flames would surely take their toll on its
opponent.

Cocytus- An ancient sword that was dug out of the permafrost. It is always
cold, and causes freezing burns to anyone it wounds. Because of its low
temperature, small droplets appear on the surface and fall to the ground
like tears, giving it the additional name, the "Crying Sword". As one would
expect from its low temperature, it is unaffected by the wielder's heart.

Styx- Also known as the Sword of Hopes, it has a curved blade with a hook at
the tip. An oath sword upon this sword is considered more important then
anything else, and breaking that oath is the most shameful act a person can
commit. It is said that the one who wields Styx becomes a servant of the
gods, and can outrun the wind.

Soul Edge (Complete)- An evil blade with the reputation of devouring souls.
It is also known as a shape-shifter, its current form depends on its current
owner. The forms it has taken are legendary, as are the souls of the
renowned warriors it has consumed. Only ones with great mental discipline
can retain their will while wielding this weapon. It is an evil force that
consumes all life around, enemy and ally alike.

Lethe- Legendary twin swords. Those who wield this weapon find their hearts
blank, unable to remember who they are. They have acted as the final trap,
that have ended many a quest. It is said that the wielder unleashes its
power by burning away their own lives.

Imitation Sword- Wooden swords carved by Cervantes after being revived. They
are made of high quality wood, and where carved with great care. They are
not particularly useful as weapons, but because of this, it may lead
opponents to let their guard down.

7.      Cervantes' Quotes
Opening:

Do not defy me!
Your soul is mine!
Beg for mercy before me!
Wallow in your despair!
Pray while you can!
Show me your soul!
Darkness is coming!
I will crush you!
Now leave your soul here.
Take this!
Taste my pain!
I will burn you to ashes!
(Against Ivy) Come back to me, my child.
(Against Inferno) Familiar cries. Now....come back to me!

Winning Quotes:
Come with me to hell!
Your resistance is in vain!
Begging for mercy? I'm disappointed.
I will feast on your soul!
No one can stop me!
This is how true despair feels!
Now, you are a part of me!
Die with regret you fool!
Offer your soul to me!
That's all? I'm disappointed!
Fool! Fear my power!
Your soul makes a poor meal!
Ha! Your struggle was useless!

If you have a worthwhile question, I'll post it here.

Q: Does Cervantes have a third costume?
A: Unfortunatly, Cervantes does not have a third costume in the game.
