1. About this guide

This is NOT a guide on where to find specific animals for raising chao
(although you could use it that way). This is a guide on where to find all of
the hidden animals in each stage - the ones that Omochao talks about in City
Escape, where collecting them all will earn you an extra life.
Why am I writing this guide for a 13 year old game? Because I'm pretty sure
very few people have ever found them all and none of the other guides on the
Internet are complete. Since you don't unlock anything for finding them and the
game doesn't keep track of how many you've found I don't think anybody (myself
included) payed any attention to them. Which is a real shame! In searching for
these, I've discovered that they're actually really well hidden! I've spent
hours on many stages, nearly giving up sometimes. Someone put some real effort
into hiding these and it's a shame that nobody's really appreciated it, so I
wanted to call attention to this completely overlooked sidequest. I encourage
you to search for them yourself because I've had lots of fun doing it. But,
just in case you get stumped (like I nearly did on that fluorescent light in
Prison Lane), this guide will help you find the ones you missed.

2. FAQ
===============================================================================
What do you get for finding the animals?
When you collect enough of them in a level, the number you've collected in the
lower right appears flashing red and you get an extra life.
How many animals are in each level?
You are required to get the following to earn the extra life:
Speed stages: 20
Shooting stages: 15
Hunting stages: 10
However, some of the stages have more than the required number of animals.
What happens if you get more than the required amount?
Every animal after the required amount gives an extra life.
Do the animals in the chao boxes count?
No.
Do the ones in Eggman's robots count?
No.
Are there hidden animals in Green Hill?
No.
How do I know how many I've gotten?
When you collect one, a number will appear in the lower right. That's the only
time you can see your total.
When you say to whistle, should I try whistling even if the prompt to whistle
doesn't come up?
No, whenever you're close enough to a whistle point to make the animal come
out the prompt will come up by itself. You never have to whistle when you're
not prompted to.
Are the animals you find always the same?
No! In particular, pipes will always contain one of a possible set of 4 random
animals. Other things you whistle at, items you have to pick up, and boxes you
have to break often contain a random animal as well.
Are the animals in the same place in all 5 missions?
Mostly. Sometimes an item you have to pick up has mysteriously moved a few
feet, but it's usually in the same area.
Are the locations the same between the Dreamcast, Gamecube, and other versions?
Usually. There are only two cases of one from the Dreamcast version being moved
a significant distance away in all of the other versions (City Escape and White
Jungle).
There is a glitch though.
In the NTSC release of the Gamecube version, some of the level are missing all
of the animals that pop out of items that you have to pick up (helmets, cubes,
etc). This glitch seems to have been noticed quickly, because it was fixed in
the PAL version released a few months later. Unfortunately nobody seems to have
known about this change because the Steam version was based on the older NTSC
version and includes the glitch (this is probably also true of the PSN and XBLA
versions since they were all made at the same time). This means that you can't
get enough animals to earn the extra life in several levels on these versions.

3. Hidden Animal Locations

[3.1] City Escape
Possible randoms: Rabbit, raccoon, skunk, ram
1) As soon as you're off the board, look left to a pair of hedge bushes. A
raccoon is wandering behind them.
2) In the same area is a pile of 4 wooden boxes. Whistle at the pipe underneath
them for a random animal.
3) Continue until you get to the first grind section. After this is a booster
that shoots you up a ramp. Go back down; on the left side of the ramp is a pipe
where Omochao will explain what to do. Your obedience is rewarded with a random
animal.
4) Up the stairs but before passing the first checkpoint, a raccoon is
wandering around under a bench.
5) Past the first checkpoint you'll be on the street. Smash the first taxi on
the left and grab the rabbit underneath.
6) Proceed to the end of the first street section, to the base of a set of
double stairs with 3 cars parked in front of them. A skunk is under the black
car.
7) A rabbit is circling a tree to the right of #6.
8) DREAMCAST: Go up the stairs after #6 and #7 and hit the bouncers. At the
top, look behind you to find a skunk circling a recycling bin.
GAMECUBE+STEAM: Go up the stairs after #6 and #7 until you get to the top, but
don't go through the tunnel (with the Chaos Cola sign over it, hanging on the
front of an overhang that doesn't exist in the Dreamcast version) to the next
street section. Instead, go around the side (the first chao box is on the
right) and get on the roof of the tunnel. A skunk circles next to a small tire
you can pick up.
9) Run until you get to the turnstile (train tracks on a wooden circle) at the
end of the next street section (before the grind section starts). A rabbit is
hopping aimlessly on the right side of it (on GAMECUBE+STEAM it's a raccoon).
10) On the left side of the section with #9 is a bush of purple flowers. Stand
next to it and the prompt to whistle will come up. Respond and an animal will
jump out.
11) At the bottom of the grind section after #9 and #10 is a pile of boxes. A
pipe is underneath.
12) Up on a ledge to the left of #11 is a gated section of grass containing a
recycle bin and an Omochao. Heed his advice and whistle for another random.
13) Head down the stairs and walk past the hand lift. A rabbit waits in the
small section behind it.
14) Take the hand lift to the open grassy section and run down the road. A
skunk is stranded on top of the second to last lamp post. Jump from a nearby
hill to rescue it.
15) At the bottom of the building you run down, stand next to the tree nearest
to the building and look for the prompt to whistle. An animal will fall out of
the tree.
16) At the top of the stairs after #15, a rabbit hops between two benches.
17) Right after #16 is a recycle bin. Whistle to summon an animal.
18) At the bottom of the next grind section, before you get off the stairs,
look for a small section of grass to the right. A pipe is sitting on it.
19) At the top of the stairs, immediately before the last checkpoint, a ram is
wandering behind the bushes to the right.
20) Behind the goal ring is a set of newspaper machines. Whistle at them for a
random.
[3.2] Wild Canyon
Possible randoms: Cheetah, condor, peacock, ram
1) At the start, turn around and grab the ram behind the pillar to the right.
2) Fly up to the ledge hanging over the alcove you start in. A pipe is inside.
3) On the floor opposite the alcove you start in a cheetah is wandering at the
base of a statue next to an Omochao.
4) On the ledge to the right of the start (with 2 stone blocks and a hint
computer) is a treasure chest containing a ram.
5) Ride the winds up to the place Omochao calls Stone Dance Hall. On the sandy
floor, to the right of a spring, in a corner, you'll find a pipe.
6) A peacock is hiding behind the sphinx head.
7) On the way to what Omochao calls the Lonely Statue area, a condor is sitting
on the edge of one of the red columns coming out of the wall.
8) At the end of the hall with #7 (but before getting to the Lonely Statue),
search the floor to the right for a pipe.
9) On one of the red columns attaching the platform above the Lonely Statue is
a condor.
10) Dig into the picture above the Lonely Statue to get to the area where you
find the Mystic Melody. Hiding in the corner against the roof is a dragon.
[3.3] Prison Lane
Possible randoms: Gorilla, cheetah, ram, otter
1) At the start, turn around and you'll see a platform that rises when you
stand on it. It will take you up to a floating enemy. Destroy it to open the
gate on the left side of the room, behind which is a pipe.
2) Head down the hall until you get to a rising platform. Ride it up, then turn
to the left and walk on the roof of the hall you were just in. Follow it to the
end for an otter.
3) Continue on through the halls in the room with #2 until you come to a pair
of steel boxes. A tiger is inside.
4) In the room after the first checkpoint, shoot the air tank in the corner to
reveal a tiger.
5) Above the wall dividing the room with #4 in it is a pipe. Ride the rising
platform up and jump backward to get to it and the otter within.
6) In the hallway immediately after #4 and #5, a tiger walks in and out of one
of the cells on the left wall.
7) In the room after the hall with #6, turn left as soon as you enter to find a
gorilla pacing around the ring capsule next to an Omochao.
8) On the other side of the dividing wall in the room with #7 is a ram sitting
inside an air tank.
9) To the left of the second checkpoint is a panel with a blinking red light on
it. Whistle at it and a random animal will emerge.
10) At the end of the room after the second checkpoint, a tiger circles next to
a rising platform in plain sight.
11) Take the platform next to #9 and look right to a pile of boxes. Behind them
is a pipe.
12) In the hallway after #11, there are two tubular florescent lights on the
right wall. Stand next to the far one (YES, IT'S IN A FLUORESCENT LIGHT) and
whistle for an otter.
13) Continue to the room after #12 and proceed until you find a unicorn in a
cage. Turn around and glide to the platform behind you containing a missile.
Launch the missile to destroy the cage and grab the animal.
14) In the hallway after the third checkpoint, a gorilla wanders in and out of
a cell on the right wall.
15) In the room after #14 is another panel with a blinking red light that you
have to whistle at. A random animal is your reward.
[3.4] Metal Harbor
Possible randoms: Peacock, penguin, raccoon, seal
1) As soon as you hit the speed pad at the start, come to a stop before you're
boosted to the next platform. Just ahead on the right side of the road is a
raccoon.
2) Proceed to the next platform after #1, go through the loop, and hit the
booster to get to the next platform. Immediately to your left is a penguin.
3) From #2, either follow the path of 2 enemies in front of you or just jump
off the roofs of the next section. A peacock is on top.
4) Go back down under the roof #3 is on. There's a pipe on the left side of the
road.
5) On the platform just before you have to homing attack across a trail of
enemies, a raccoon is behind the red box on the left.
6) After the section where you homing attack a bunch of enemies to get to the
next platform, there are two helmets sitting on the left side. Pick up the one
on the right to reveal a random animal. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
7) Light dash from #6 onto the aircraft carrier and run near the left side
until you come to the part with some enemies and an extra life in the air. A
penguin is on the floor in front of them.
8+9) Immediately in front of #7 are two helmets hiding between two platforms.
Each holds a phoenix. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
10) From #7-9, go straight right until you come to the edge. Walk backward
(careful not to fall off; it ends suddenly). At the edge is a raccoon.
11) Sticking to the left side, walk forward from where #7 was until you come to
two helmets. Pick one up to claim a phoenix (not present in Hard Mode, MISSING
IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM).
12) Go back to #10 and run straight forward to two helmets. One contains a
random. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
13) Continue past the aircraft carrier and run until you hit half a loop that
throws you into a bouncer. When you land, a peacock is flying on the right of
the road.
14) Hit the boost pad right after #13. When you land you'll find a helmet next
to an Omochao with a random under it. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
15) Another helmet containing a random waits at the top of the hand lift after
#14. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
16) Ride the hand lift after #15. Just behind you is a peacock.
17) Continue until you come to a tower that you pass under. A seal is sitting
on the right side of the road.
18) Make the jump after #17. Stop and you'll see a peacock on a cylindrical
tower (think water tower) to the left of the road. A homing attack from just
before the turn in the road will get you there.
19) Right after #18 is a part where you'll have to somersault through a tight
space. If you stop and look, you'll see a penguin behind it on the left side.
Somersault into it.
20) To the right of the last checkpoint is a helmet containing a random.

21) In the lower left corner of the missile platform is a seal.
22) At the very top of the missile (past the first bar you can grab onto to
launch it) a phoenix sits at the back of the platform before the second bar.
[3.5] Green Forest
Possible randoms: Cheetah, parrot, rabbit, raccoon
1) As soon as you land on the first platform, look behind the fallen tree trunk
to your right to see a rabbit.
2) On the first platform, behind the 3 robots that drop down, look left for two
reddish orange mushrooms (in Hard Mode it's on the right). Pick one up to
reveal a random. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
3) Continue down the dark tunnel. Halfway through you'll find another reddish
orange mushroom containing a random. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
4) Further down the dark tunnel you'll find a spiked enemy. Kill it and
somersault into the wall to the right. You'll find the first chao box and a
raccoon in this secret room (in Hard Mode it's a parrot).
5) As soon as the tunnel with #3+4 ends, stop yourself before you hit the boost
pad launching you to the next area. To the right of it is a parrot.
6) As soon as you land on the next platform, look right for another red-orange
mushroom with a random underneath. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
7) After #6 you'll come to a part were you swing on a vine. Jump to the
platform underneath the one it takes you to. Follow the path until you see a
pipe in the shrubs on the left side of the road.
8) Grab the vine after #7, then hit the bouncer up the road to grab another
vine. When you land, look to the back right corner of the platform and you'll
find a raccoon.
9) Continue on until you're dropped into a room with 3 robots (and a gold
beetle) and some speed pads. Take the first speed pad up the hill, but don't
continue up the second hill. To your right you'll see two ring boxes. Toward
the upper right corner of this section, flat on the floor, you'll see two
arrow-like things pointing at a bush in the corner. Stand on the bush and
you'll be prompted to whistle. A parrot emerges from the bush (may be a
different animal in Hard Mode).
10) Move to the upper left corner of the area with #9. A raccoon is sitting on
top of a large root.
11) Take the speed pads up to the next level of the room with #9+10 and look
right. A rabbit is hopping around behind a fallen tree trunk.
12) Continue past the second checkpoint until a vine drops you on the next
platform. Behind the wooden boxes here is a half fish.
13) In the upper left corner of the platform with #12, a rabbit is behind a
fallen tree trunk.
14) Walk forward off of the platform with #12+13 and you should land on the
second chao box. Whistle at the bush behind it for a rabbit.
15) Use the bouncer by #14 to get up to the platform in front of it. From here,
jump to the platform on your left (an extra life is over it). Jump to the
platform after it, then make one more jump to a platform with a bouncer on the
side. Whistle on the arrows on the ground here and a half fish will come out of
the fern they point to (in Hard Mode it's just walking around).
16) Hit the bouncer next to #15. When you land, look behind you and you'll see
a cheetah next to a fallen tree.
17) After the third checkpoint, go through the loop but stop before you run
into a diagonal bouncer next to a ring box. To the right of it is another set
of arrows with a single ring above them. Whistle here for a cheetah.
18) Hit the bouncer next to #17 and continue up until you come to a platform
with a 20 ring box (it's right after the third chao box). A pipe rests against
the right wall.
19) Directly to the right of the fourth checkpoint, a rabbit hides against a
fallen tree.
20) Just before the fifth checkpoint is a series of arches. On the left side,
between the final two arches, is a rabbit.
21) Right before the goal ring, after the last of the sinking platforms, near
the lowest bouncer, is a raccoon.
[3.6] Pumpkin Hill
Possible randoms: Bat, boar, cheetah, skeleton dog
1) Turn around from where you start and glide to the platform with a cage.
Follow the path right to the rocket that leads to Pumpkin Mountain. Next to the
rocket is a small pumpkin with a random underneath.
2) Go back to the cage and head left to a missile pad. Follow the path of rings
here and climb up the platform. A boar is circling inside the radius of the
spiked balls on top.
3) Climb up the spire that has #2 on it until you reach the top (you'll see the
Ghost Train Turntable below you). Drop straight down from the ledge with the
switch that controls the train and you'll be standing next to a sealed door.
Stand in front of it and whistle for a random.
4) While facing the door with #3, turn right and you'll see another blocked
door. Climb a little up to the left of it and you'll find a ledge with a small
house. Break it to reveal a skull. Pick up the skull to reveal a random.
5) Climb down while going a little clockwise until you get to side of the spire
opposite the blocked door. A skeleton dog hides in a pile of wooden boxes.
6) From the bottom, take the rocket to Church Mountain. On the way up you
should see a missile launcher. It points at a cage with a bat in it, next to an
Omochao.
7) From #5, circle the mountain clockwise until you see a small isolated
section of train tracks a little below you. A pipe sits at one end.
8) A skeleton dog is walking around on top of Church Mountain.
9) Around the back of Pumpkin Mountain, there's a small section of train tracks
with a large pumpkin on a ledge in the center. A bat rests to the right of the
pumpkin.
10) On top of Pumpkin Mountain, one of the small pumpkins has a random
underneath (clockwise from where the rocket brings you up).
11) At the very top of Pumpkin Mountain, a cheetah circles the peak.
[3.7] Mission Street
Possible randoms: Gorilla, rabbit, ram, boar
1) A few steps ahead on the right side of where you start are a few newspaper
machines. Whistle at one for a gorilla.
2) Walk straight ahead from the start. A rabbit is hopping on the street
corner.
3) From #2, head right and to the street lamp at the back right corner. Whistle
for a ram.
4) In the tunnel after #2, break the wooden box on top of the unbreakable metal
box to uncover a boar.
5) Across the gap from where you get the booster upgrade, a pipe sticks out of
the wall under the crushing block.
6) Ride the weight over #5 up to the next section. To the left is a pile of
wooden boxes with a random animal in them.
7) Shortly after the first checkpoint, behind the wall of cages that you break
with a missile, a boar is under one of the yellow sand barrels.
8) Across the bridge from #7 you'll find a stack of wooden boxes to the right.
Underneath them is a pipe with an animal inside.
9) At the part where there's a crushing block in the road (which Omochao calls
a trap), look to the right. Under a wooden box is the button to stop the trap,
and next to it is a steel box with a rabbit inside.
10) After #9 are some columns with bombs on them that you can shoot to knock
them over. Knock over the first one to reveal a ram underneath.
11) Just behind the second checkpoint is a phoenix in a cage. Use the missile
launcher behind the row of steel boxes to get it.
12) After the third checkpoint, at the edge of the part of the road that
breaks, is a gorilla on the right side.
13) Across the gap from #12 is a pipe in the corner on the right side of the
road, slightly obscured from view by a breakable barricade.
14) Right before you enter the next tunnel (just after the tilting platforms,
with the Omochao that says "Earthquake! Earthquake! Hurry and run!") you'll see
a single light pole on the right. Whistle at it for a random animal.
15) As soon as you get back into the city area, whistle at the first tree you
see for a random.
16) Once the goal ring is in sight, look to the right side of the road to find
a gorilla sitting on top of a yellow canopy.
[3.8] Aquatic Mine
Possible randoms: Condor, penguin, seal, skunk
1) From the beginning, head clockwise along the perimeter until you reach the
skunk in the corner.
2) Ride the hand lift to the upper area. A pipe against the wall opposite the
mystic melody door holds a random animal.
3) A condor hovers above a purple torch in the area with #2.
4) Behind the mystic melody door is a bucket with a random underneath.
5) Walk the perimeter of the main shaft when the water is set to level 2. A
penguin is in one of the corners.
6) There's a pipe in the hallway that becomes dry on water level 2.
7) With the water set at level two, enter the hallway at the very bottom. Swim
to the end and rise up. Just before you come out of the water at the dead end
with 3 skulls in the wall is a penguin in the road to the right of two wooden
boxes.
8) At the bottom of the main shaft on the floor is a seal near the water level
3 sign.
9) With the water drained to level 3, enter the lowest hallway. A pipe is
directly ahead.
10) In the room where the air necklace was, climb the wall and circle the
ceiling to find a dragon.
[3.9] Hidden Base
Possible randoms: Penguin, otter, skunk, tiger
1) In the room you start in is a skunk, slightly to the right.
2) Right outside the room where you start you'll see a steel box on a fallen
pillar to the right. A tiger is underneath.
3) In the next room, with the first breakable wall, a penguin hides in the
vases in the corner.
4) In the first indoor hallway, the first breakable wall on the left has a
tiger behind it.
5) In the same hall as #4, the first breakable wall on the right has a skunk
behind it.
6) In the outdoor room after #4+5, a pipe is plainly visible.
7) After the first checkpoint, proceed to a set of small platforms you have to
jump across. On the far right platform is a penguin.
8) Continue on until you come to a hand lift, then another one after it. At the
top is a cluster of vases in the far right corner. An otter hides within.
9) After facing a band of monkey robots, proceed along the right wall. After
lowering a platform by detonating some bombs, hop up on the right wall and
follow the fenced path to the pipe at the end.
10) Hop across the gap after #9 to a breakable wall. Walk all the way left from
here to another pipe.
11) Proceed up the room after the second checkpoint. In the hall after it, a
pipe is visible on the right wall before the steps.
12) After #11 is a small maze of breakable walls and blocks. In the far left
corner of the maze, next to the exit, is a pipe.
13) From #12 head to the right, then back. After breaking through a door you'll
find a half fish in the back corner.
14) Between #12 and the third checkpoint, in a niche to the left, is an otter.
15) Pass the mystic melody door, continue down the hall guarded by monkeys, and
you'll enter an open area with one black robot wandering around. At the other
end of this room, to the right of a pile of red canisters, is an otter (it's
inside a vase on GAMECUBE+STEAM).
[3.10] Pyramid Cave
Possible randoms: Bat, condor, peacock, ram
1) After the first hourglass, ride up the hand lift. Behind the fire in the
middle of the platform above is a peacock.
2) When you come to the floating bars that you flip across (they're before the
next hourglass), fall to the platform below. A bat is wandering around in the
middle. (GAMECUBE+STEAM NOTE: The bat is in the same place, but the programmers
put a torch on top of it and forgot to move the bat. If you clip the camera
into it you'll see it circling inside. Luckily you can still collect it by
spindashing around the edge of the torch's base. You have go into it almost
tangentially while the bat is on the same side as you. Just keep trying and
you'll get it eventually).
3) After climbing up from #2, a condor is near the edge behind the hourglass.
4) Through the hourglass door, stop and look left once you're no longer in the
hallway (before the speed pads). A bat is hovering near the railing.
5) When you come to two E-100 series robots, look below them and you'll find
wooden boxes on the left. Use the bounce attack to break them and reveal a pipe
inside.
6) In the cove to the right of the same robots, against the back wall is
another pipe.
7) At the front of the cove with #6 is a cage with a skeleton dog. To get it,
break the steel box underneath it.
8) Up from #4-6, to the left of the next hourglass, is a pipe.
9) To the right of the hourglass is a pipe.
10) After the next checkpoint, don't take the grind rail. Walk along the floor
until you come to a platform with spinning spiked balls. In the near right
corner of it is a ram.
11) The platform above #10 contains 3 unbreakable boxes and 2 wooden boxes. Use
the bounce attack to break the left box for a peacock.
12) The platform above #11 contains two small pyramids near the door. Pick up
the one on the right for a random animal.
13) Starting from the key to the second door, head back until you come to an
hourglass. A peacock is in the front left corner of this area.
14) Head through the door opened by the hourglass next to #13. A ram is in the
front left corner of this area.
15) Continue to the ramp after #14. On top of a rectangular block on the right
side before it is a bat.
16) Use the mystic melody pedestal after the long hallway (right next to the
checkpoint) and ride the trail of rings it creates to a higher platform. Use
the next mystic melody pedestal, and make sure you hold down forward after you
dash on the trail of rings it creates so you land on the grind rail in mid air.
Grind to the third chao box, then ride the hand lift next to it to a platform
with a condor circling a switch.
17) From the third chao box, use a spindash-jump to get back to the platform
beneath the grind rail you used to get there (it has a missile on it). From
there, jump down onto the roof of the normal path to the right. A peacock
circles in front of the torch.
18) Two platforms back from #17, a condor circles in front of the torch.
19) Continue until you come to a grind rail over an area with 3 sets of
spinning spiked balls. Fall down to it an you'll find two pyramids at the back.

[3.11] Death Chamber

1) Go through the center door in the red room and continue until you reach an
E-100 series robot. Next to it are two golden cat heads. Underneath the right
one is a random animal.
2) In the same room as #1, a pipe is on the ledge above the door, near the left
corner.
3) A tiger runs around the big cylinder on the upper level of the pyramid core.
4) In the blue room with a falling block trap and an E-100 series robot near
the roof, a pipe sits to the right of the robot.
5) Through the left door in the blue room is a small room with 4 pillars in the
corners with 2 E-100 series robots. One of the pillars has a scarab beetle on
the wall next to it. Whistle and a tiger will come out.
6) Continue past #5 to a blue hallway with a falling block trap that you can
stop with a switch. You'll see a pipe sticking out of the wall underneath the
block.
7) Dig through the wall in the hall with the mystic melody pedestal that makes
some rings appear (it's the hall after #5). A skunk is on the floor of the
small room.
8+9) Two gorillas are in the room to the left of the green room, walking in
front of the chao box.
10) Immediately through the door on the right side of the green room there's a
large scarab beetle on the left wall. Whistle at it for a rabbit.
[3.12] Eternal Engine
Possible randoms: Condor, parrot, raccoon, boar
1) A condor hides under the device on the left side of the room you start in
(in Hard Mode it's replaced with a boar in a cage in the middle of the room
with #2. To break the cage, just stand by it and wait for the enemies above to
drop giant bombs that will destroy it).
2) A pipe is under the device in the middle of the far wall in the room with
two springs on top a stack of unbreakable boxes.
3) In the first room with the explosive green tubes, two stacks of wooden boxes
and one unbreakable box are in the corners of the far side of the room. Destroy
the wooden boxes on the left side to reveal a pipe near the ceiling. Stand on
the unbreakable box and whistle for an animal.
4) In the room with the first chao box, a random animal is under one of the
wooden boxes.
5) In the first area where you walk on a bridge over a pit, a parrot is resting
on the railing to the right of the entrance.
6) Shortly after returning to the interior for the second time (after breaking
through a wall of cages), in the room where you have to stop
a falling block trap with a switch and stand on it to get up, a condor is on
top of the falling block near the back right corner.
7) After the first two rooms with artificial chaos, the beginning of the next
room has wooden boxes in the far corners. A random is under the boxes on the
left.
8) On a corner just before the second hand lift in the next balcony/bridge
section is a pipe that's kind of hard to see.
9) Up the hand lift next to #8, at the end of the balcony section, a parrot(on
GAMECUBE+STEAM it's a condor) rests on the railing to the left of the exit.
10) At the bottom of the section where you get the power-up that lets you
destroy steel boxes, on the platform with two missile launchers and a switch, a
boar is hiding in the back left corner.
11) After blasting through the wall of steel boxes in the area with #10, enter
the room and turn to the back right to find a pipe.
12) In the room with #11 there are two wooden boxes in the far corners. A
random is under the one on the right.
13) After riding up the hand lifts in the room after #12, a raccoon can be seen
circling a green tube generator on the right in the next hall.
14) In the area where you're floating through space, keep your eye on the left
side. Halfway across you'll find a parrot.
15) To the left of the goal ring is a pipe.
[3.13] Meteor Herd
Possible randoms: Penguin, rabbit, seal, ram
1) A ram is right in front of you when you start, a little to the right of the
Omochao (missing in Hard Mode).
2) A pipe rests against the oil-rig-like tower to the right of where
you start.
3) To the left of where you start a penguin hides in the shade of one of the
corners of the center tower.
4) Outward from #3, a rabbit hides between a bulldozer and a platform.
5) A pipe rests against the oil-rig-like tower that has a crushing block trap
next to it.
6) On the perimeter of the central tower, against the red forcefield, is a
rabbit.
7) There a pipe on the platform above the crushing block trap that you have to
ride up (there's a switch in a cage next to the trap).
8) A phoenix is flying in fast circles underneath the platform with the Omochao
that says "Use your punch to break it." (beneath the platform are two of those
rectangular storage units that look like freight shipping containers).
9) On the platform with the highest rocket launcher in the stage, a seal is
floating around a floating unbreakable box.
10) At the top of the level, on the platform with the mystic melody pedestal,
walk off the right side and you'll land on a platform with several floating
unbreakable boxes. A seal is swimming around one of them.
11) At the top of the level, on the platform clockwise of the one with the
mystic melody pedestal, jump out from the center tower into space. A phoenix is
a little ways out.
[3.14] Crazy Gadget
(Special note: the animals inside wooden and steel boxes come back when you die
in this level, perhaps due to the gravity shifting)

1) Down the hall from the room where you start, in the first corner section,
the near right corner has a pipe coming out of the wall.
2) When you switch the gravity for the first time, look behind you to find a
seal (in Hard Mode it changes to a random animal and is inside the steel box on
the right. You won't see it until you switch the gravity because it's in the
green liquid).
3) In the room after the first gravity switch, behind the hand lift, are three
boxes. Pick up the rightmost one for a random. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND
STEAM)
4) To the left of the entrance to the first high speed warp tube is a skunk.
5) After exiting the high speed warp, you'll find a pipe sticking out of the
right wall at the edge of the pit with a trail of electrically shielded
enemies. Whistle for your reward.
6) After the trail of electrically shielded enemies, use the gravity switch and
break the wooden boxes in front of you for a random (in Hard Mode it moves to a
steel box to the left of the gravity switch).
7) Somersault into the next area. Adjacent to the entrance is a wooden box with
a random in it.
8) At the part with 3 gravity switches, use the one on the right and ride the
grind rail. Underneath the very end of the rail is a seal.
9) In the room full of green liquid, use the mystic melody pedestal in the near
left corner to get up to the gravity switch. Head back in the direction you
came. If you go all the way back you'll find a lightning shield, but just
before that is a pipe on the left side of the hallway.
10) After switching the gravity back to normal, bounce attack onto the wall
behind you. A bear rests on the left side.
11) Stand to the right of the entrance to the second high speed warp tube and
face the machine. Whistle for a random.
12) A seal circles the exit of the second high speed warp tube.
13) Behind the Flame Ring upgrade are some boxes you can pick up. One has a
random underneath. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
14) In the room after #13, a random is in the steel box to the left of the
entrance.
15) Once you switch the gravity back to normal using a bouncer, before you dash
into space on the long trail of rings, there are 4 boxes you can pick up. One
on the left has a random animal under it. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
16) Right after light dashing across the long trail of rings, look to the back
right corner for a pipe.
17) Pick up the box to the right of the entrance to the third high speed warp
tube for a random. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
18) After exiting the high speed warp, walk across the thin beam with the
spinning spiked balls on it, destroy the enemy at the end, and enter the next
room. Switch the gravity, then return to the room you were just in. Destroy the
steel box on the left for a random (alternatively, just jump down and bounce on
it in the green liquid and take the damage).
19) Head back to the room before #18 and switch the gravity back to normal.
This time, fall down instead of crossing the beam with the spinning balls. In a
steel box at the back of the room is a random.
20) In the last room, on the red platform with the artificial chaos that fires
rapidly (the last platform before the goal) use the gravity switch on the left
side and follow the purple platform to the mystic melody pedestal. Use it and
dash across the trail of rings to where the lost chao would be in Mission 3.
Jump off to the right and land on the blue platform. You'll find a missile
here; fire it to destroy the cage holding a phoenix. Take the nearby bouncer to
get to it.
[3.15] Final Rush
Possible randoms: Condor, peacock, penguin, ram
1) When you come to the end of the rail you start on, switch to the left rail.
Follow this path to the first chao box. At the beginning of the platform is a
peacock.
2) At the end of the rail after the first chao box is a condor.
3) Take the next two rails and you'll find a small cube in the middle of the
path. Pick it up to reveal a random animal. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND
STEAM)
4) Run down the ramp after the first checkpoint (don't jump for the rail). At
the back of the platform you land on is a pipe.
5) Ride the rail at the end of the platform that #4 is on to a small platform
with a ring box and and extra life. Behind them is a bouncer and a penguin.
6) When you come to the end of the long, winding rail section (don't switch to
the rail on the right, just ride the main one), you'll land on a platform with
two artificial chaoses. A pipe is behind them on the right.
7) Ride the rail after #6. A condor waits at the beginning of the platform
where you get off.
8) After the next checkpoint, run down the ramp. As before, don't grab the
rail. A peacock waits on the platform below.
9) Take the long purple rail and continue until you come to a pair of vertical
rails (where you would've gone if you'd switched to the right rail after #5).
Head to the back of the platform for a condor.
10) On the beginning of the platform with the checkpoint AFTER the next
checkpoint (after the room with 3 chutes and the long series of short vertical
grind rails after it) is a ram.
11) On the platform with the third chao box is a peacock.
12) In a wooden box next to the third chao box is a penguin.
13) After the next checkpoint is a steep ramp down. Do not catch the rail at
the end and do not hit the speed pads. Land on the small orange platform behind
the speed pads to find a ram.
14) Hit the speed pad and take the rail at the end of the path, and jump at the
end. From here, you have to spindash-jump toward the right wall (you may notice
a spring on the wall; don't hit it). There are a number of ledges built into it
that are hard to see. A dragon is on the furthest one one, which is in line
with the platform where the red and purple rails end.
15) After the next checkpoint, either spindash-jump over the rail before you or
ride it and jump off onto the small orange platform along it. Ride the rocket
to the extra life, then jump to the next platform with a spring and a ram.
Alternate: Ride the rail after the checkpoint, but switch to the rightmost rail
when you come to it. It will take you to the same platform.
16) Do not take the spring after #15. Jump to the platform on the left. A
penguin wanders in front of the vertical grind rail.
17) Follow the rails until they pass over a long platform with two small cubes
on it. Jump off and onto it; a penguin is under the far cube. (MISSING IN
GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
18+19) Get back on the rails and ride until they end. On the higher platform to
the left are two small cubes. Beneath them are a random and a dragon. (MISSING
IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
20) Continue on the normal path until you come off of a long orange rail with a
jump at the end. At the beginning of the platform you land on is a cube with a
random under it. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
21) In the room before you drop into the final run to the goal, at the big row
of springs, look left for a penguin.

[3.16] Iron Gate
Possible randoms: Gorilla, tiger, rabbit, skunk
1) A rabbit is behind the left part of the door frame right in front of where
you start.
2) In the room after the first checkpoint, there are some wooden boxes behind
the ledge with the first chao box on it. A gorilla hides underneath.
3) In the room after #2, there is a pipe behind the short wall in the middle of
the room.
4) When you enter the room with the elevator (behind the level 2 security
door), turn right to find a skunk in the corner.
5) In the room after the second checkpoint, turn right to find a gorilla in the
corner.
6) In the hallway after the room with #5, in the middle of the first bend in
the hall is a pipe.
7) After exiting the hall with #6, hover over to the spring on the pipe
directly ahead. Head up and follow the path of rings around the corner and hop
down to where the mystic melody pedestal is. Hover from here to the next yellow
pipe. A dragon waits at the other end of the pipe.
8) Directly below #7 are 4 item capsules with a robot between them. A rabbit is
hopping among them.
9) Jump down to the room after #7+8 and you should immediately see a tiger
walking in a small circle at the bottom.
10) At the top of the elevator shaft after the third checkpoint, there's a pipe
on the right wall next to some canisters.
11) In the room after #10 (behind the level 5 security door), a skunk is
circling next to the extra life and medical pack.
12) In the same room as #11, a tiger is behind the wall dividing the room,
sitting next to the Omochao.
13) In the room after #11+12, a pipe is hiding behind the pile of boxes in the
corner.
14) There is a pipe sitting to the left of the final security door.
15) The last animal, a skunk, is circling near two canisters on the right side
of the room with the goal ring.
[3.17] Dry Lagoon
Possible randoms: Otter, peacock, penguin, ram
1) A peacock circles the palm tree to the left of where you start.
2) A ram circles an Omochao in the alcove across from where you start (on
GAMECUBE+STEAM it's circling next to the Omochao).
3) On the top level, on the side you start on, a pipe sits next to some steel
boxes.
4) A ram circles on the top level near the big stone box with 4 wooden boxes
blocking its entrance, on the side you start on (not the one with the chao box
next to it; the other one)
5) Ride the turtle to the Huge Oasis area. On the platform with the obelisk,
stand in the center of the 8 stone posts. If you're in the exact center, you'll
be prompted to whistle. Your obedience will cause a unicorn to phase into
existence next to you.
6) Take the underwater turtle into the Oasis Prison (press B while behind it,
then press A to get off once you're in the room). Swim to the surface and
you'll find a penguin prancing next to an Omochao.
7) In the corridor on the way to the Statue's Pool area, a peacock flies around
near the left wall.
8) An otter wanders around underwater at the foot of the statue in Statue's
Pool (on GAMECUBE+STEAM it's standing still).
9) A stone egg sits behind a tree at one end of the canoe in the Three Head
Wall area. Pick it up for a random animal.
10) Another otter wanders around in plain sight next to the other end of the
canoe.
[3.18] Sand Ocean
Possible randoms: Parrot, peacock, bat, raccoon
1) Walk off the ledge behind where you start. There's a hidden ledge below with
a bat on the left side.
2) Break the steel boxes to the right of the first rotating platform and take
that path. A parrot is orbiting a gun flag toward the end of the platform.
3) Follow the main path until you come to the first room with little GUN flags
hanging on the wall. There's a raccoon pacing behind the wooden fence adjacent
to them.
4) In the same room as #3, past the pillars you have to knock down and behind a
spinning set of spiked balls, there's a peacock to the left of the first chao
box.
5) Another peacock is sitting next to the second chao box, located a bit after
the first checkpoint.
6+7) At the bridge just before the next rotating platform, you'll see pipes on
the two platforms on either side of the bridge.
8) On the rotating platform right after #6+7, don't proceed to the second
checkpoint. Instead hover out to the platform with a spring on it, a path that
leads to where the lost chao would be in Mission 3. From this platform you'll
see a platform with one unbreakable box and two steel boxes on it. There's a
skeleton dog running underneath one of the steel boxes.
9) Proceed past the second checkpoint. When you come to a pillar you knock
down, it will lead you to an area with some vases in the corner (in the
GAMECUBE+STEAM versions it's a lot of vases). A raccoon is inside of one.
10) In the same room with #9, move to the upper area and you'll see what looks
like a large stone tomb on the right side. In front of it are destroyable
blocks. DO NOT DESTROY THEM; jump on them to get on top of the coffin. A bat
flutters around the column in the far right corner.
11) Just after #10, go down to the area with the spinning spiked balls. There's
a pipe against the left wall on the platform just before it.
12) Ride the rotating platform in the next sand section. There's a bat hovering
in its path.
13) On the platform right after #12, there's a pipe on the left side a little
past the third checkpoint.
14) Take the launcher right after #13. You'll find a pipe to your right when
you land.
15) Just ahead of the pipe with #14 and before the balloon is a parrot.
[3.19] Radical Highway
Possible randoms: Cheetah, boar, seal, raccoon
1) At the back left of the platform you first land on is a seal.
2) At the first toll both, stand behind the yellow and black sign on the left
(beneath the number 1) and whistle for a cheetah.
3) Head down the ramp after #2 and stop when the road forks. There's a boar
walking on the sand barrel in the middle of the fork.
4) On the platform with the first hand lift is a stack of wooden boxes. A
random animal is under them.
5) There's a boar wandering beneath the lighted "Road Closed Ahead" sign behind
the first hand lift. Stand in front of it and wait for it to walk into you.
6) There's a cheetah sitting on top of the road block behind the second hand
lift.
7) Head through the loop after the first checkpoint but stop yourself before
you hit the springs. Turn around and you'll find three crates. There's a random
animal inside the steel one.
8) Ride the springs down after #7 and take the row of springs up to the next
highway section. A seal hides under the wooden box on the right.
9) After you homing attack across a row of enemies (taking you to the ledge
above the second chao box), there's a pipe in the back corner under the road
block.
10) In front of the next lighted "Road Closed Ahead" sign is a cheetah.
11) On top of the next toll booth is a boar. If you didn't land on it coming
down you can still get up by hopping on the road's side rail and climb up.
12) After the second checkpoint, continue through the double loop. Don't use
the ramps; instead just run down to the bottom. A cheetah frolics to the left
of the pile of wood boxes.
13) Take the spring in the boxes next to #12 and continue to the top of the
bridge, just before you grind down the cables. A pipe is sticking out of the
middle of the bridge; stand on the road block just before the grind cables to
whistle at it.
14) Grind down the cable on the right side of the bridge, but don't jump at the
end. Break the boxes on the platform you land on for a raccoon.
15) Climb up and go backward from #14, past the road block in front of the
"Road Closed Ahead" sign. A boar is wandering around the area.
16) Take either path from the area with #14+15 until the two paths meet (just
before the third checkpoint). Whistle at the yellow sand barrels between the
paths for a random animal.
17) After the third checkpoint, you'll run through a loop that will launch you
onto a bar that you swing on. Instead of trying to flip forward, drop off of it
and you'll land on a platform with a seal.
18) There's a toll booth right ahead of #17. On the left side is a pipe.
19) The next time you come to a fork in the road, stop and whistle at the
yellow sand barrel in the middle for another animal.
20) In the right lane of the toll booth in front of the goal ring, a confused
boar is trying to get his EZPass to work.
[3.20] Egg Quarters
Possible randoms: Gorilla, bear, parrot, skunk
1) In the room you start in (the Egg Scorpion Chamber), there's a parrot on top
of the scorpion statue over the middle door.
2) In the alcove opposite the scorpion statue (the lower one, with a
sarcophagus) is a gorilla.
3) Break through the wooden boxes blocking the door on the right of the Egg
Scorpion chamber to find a small room with a white feather decoration on the
wall. Stand beneath it and you'll find a hidden whistle point that summons a
skunk.
4) Head through the door on the left side of the Egg Scorpion Chamber. At the
end of the gray hallway is a pipe on the right side of the door.
5) Continue from #4 to the red room with a big round alter in the middle,
spiked balls orbiting it, and a mystic melody pedestal on top of it (the Snake
Altar room). On top of one of the pillars surrounding the altar is a gorilla.
6) At the back of the Snake Altar room, against the right wall, there's a cage
with a half fish inside. You need to use one of the bombs from the monkey robot
on the nearby pillar to break the cage.
7) Continue to the green room (the Egg Snake Chamber). Stand on the small altar
in the back and whistle for a bear.
8) Head through the middle door of the Egg Snake Chamber and continue until you
come to the blue room (Egg Fish Chamber). On top of the fish statue is a pipe.
9) Dive underwater in the Egg Fish Chamber and hit the switch, then use the
missile at the back of the room to break the cages blocking the door to where
the Pick Nails upgrade was. There's a random animal in one of the 4 wooden
boxes underneath the crusher trap.
10) There's a random animal in the steel crate to the right of where the Pick
Nails upgrade was.
[3.21] Lost Colony
Possible randoms: Rabbit, boar, bat, raccoon
1) There's a bat in the back right corner of the room after the one you start
in.
2) Ride the first hand lift down to a room with lasers on the floor. On the
back wall of the room, behind a 10 ring capsule, is a pipe.
3) In the hall after #2 a random animal waits under the wooden boxes on the
left.
4) In the hall after the room with the first switch is a stack of boxes.
Another random animal is hidden inside.
5) In the room full of green liquid, jump to the two unbreakable boxes in the
back left corner. Whistle on them and a bat will descend.
6) In the far right corner of the green liquid room, a bat patrols the floating
platform (changes to the left in Hard Mode).
7) In the dark room after the first checkpoint, walk straight ahead and destroy
the wooden boxes on the left for a random.
8) On the left side of the dark room, there's a piles of boxes with one steel
box on top. A random animal is in the steel box.
9) In the next room, a bat is hovering too high to reach, a little in front of
the second chao box. Stand on the floating platform on the right to reach it.
10) In the room after the second checkpoint, a bat circles in the air over the
thing generating exploding green capsules.
11) In the first ARK outdoor section, after jumping the first gap, a pipe is in
the corner immediately in front of you.
12) In the room after #10, ride the floating platform down. Once you see the
gold beetle, jump off and hover forward. There's a bat floating above the door
below. This can also be reached by hovering from the platform in front of the
third chao box.
13) After riding the rising platform up the long shaft, you'll see a rabbit to
the left of the door when you get off.
14) In the room with a door blocked by cages that you have to break with a
missile, there's a random animal in a wooden box behind the missile.
15) There's a boar trapped in the wall of cages. IT IS RANDOM WHETHER OR NOT
THE MISSILE WILL DESTROY THE CAGE IT'S IN. If it doesn't free the boar, keep
killing yourself and trying again until it does.
[3.22] Weapons Bed
Possible randoms: Seal, otter, cheetah, ram
1) To the right of the group of robots you start in front of is a pipe next to
a satellite dish.
2) Go around the barrier behind the group of robots you start in front of and
you'll see a ram walking on the ground to the right of the two round tanks.
3) There's a pipe between the two round tanks on the far right corner of the
first platform.
4) A cheetah romps in the back left corner of the platform right after the
first checkpoint.
5) Shortly after #4 is a wall of steel boxes blocking your way. Underneath the
ones on the right side is an otter.
6) You'll hit a set if springs after this that land you on a platform with two
ring capsules, two steel boxes, and an Omochao. It also has a ram in the back
right corner.
7) On the next aircraft carrier, a seal flops in the back right corner.
8) An otter sits at the far left corner of the same carrier with #7.
9) On the back left corner of the platform with the second checkpoint is a
pipe.
10) A wall of steel boxes blocks the way to a row of 3 springs. Underneath the
ones on the left is a seal.
11) Head to the middle of the third carrier (right after the third checkpoint)
and go to the back right corner of the aisle filled with airplanes. A cheetah
patiently awaits rescue.
12) To the left of the hand lift in the middle of the runway, a pipe lies
shaded inside the garage.
13) A phoenix circuits the top of the metal fuel tank in the far right corner
of the third carrier with #11+12. Get on top of it either by jumping on the
chao box next to it or use the hand lift in the middle of the runway and hover
over.
14) A pipe sits plainly in the back right corner of the platform right after
the third carrier.
15) Continue on the path after #14 until you hit two springs that take you to
the platform before the goal ring. When you land, go backward on the platform
and you'll find a ram at the edge.
[3.23] Security Hall
Possible randoms: Parrot, tiger, condor, raccoon
1) A block, bottom floor, inside track, there's a pipe on top of the large
metal box closest to the inside corner.
2) B block, red floor, in the safe up-left of the crushing block is a
cardboard GUN box with a random in it (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM).
3) C block, red floor, there's another cardboard box in an open safe to the
right of some unbreakable boxes. Pick it up for a random animal. (MISSING IN
GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
4) In the safe down-right from #3 is a raccoon.
5) A block, yellow floor, break the wooden crate next to the A Block sign for
a random animal.
6) B block, yellow floor, in the safe to the left of the right-most crusher is

[3.24] White Jungle
Possible randoms: Parrot, peacock, bear, skunk
1) On the half-pipe that you start on, after you go under the arches, stop next
to the second tree on the left to find a well hidden whistle point. A parrot
will slowly descend (this is easily the hardest one to find in the game).
2) When you land on the springs on the first platform, land behind them. A
skunk is underneath the wooden barrier on the right. Roll into it to collect
it.
3) Take the first pull vine you come to and roll through the wooden barrier
when you land. An animal is hiding under the purple mushroom in the far corner
(MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM).
4) When you come off of the half-pipe after the first checkpoint, move to the
back of the platform for a peacock on top of the block with the springs on it.
5) A pipe extends from the left wall on the platform with #4.
6) Roll under the wooden barricades after #5. There is a tree trunk to the left
with a skunk on the left side of it.
7) Break the steel box just ahead of #6 to reveal a switch. Light dash on the
rings it generates to get to a platform with an extra life. To the right, on
top of the hand lift, is a bear.
8) After taking the next vine to a new platform, you'll see a crushing block
trap. Jump on top of it and ride it to a parrot.
9) Take a spring to the next platform, then whistle at the tree in the near
right corner for another bird.
10) At the far end of the platform with #9, pick up the purple mushroom for a
random (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM).
11) When you land in the cave after the second checkpoint, move to the back
corner and pick up the purple mushroom for another random (MISSING IN
GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM).
12) A parrot is fluttering around a large bush on the second level of the cave,
next to a pull vine.
13) There is a pipe to the right of the wall of wooden boxes blocking the exit
to the cave.
14) GAMECUBE+STEAM: In the back left corner of the platform after the third
checkpoint, a peacock flies in a wide circle. Wait for it to come over land.
DREAMCAST: Light dash across the rings next to #15 to find a peacock circling
the platform.
15) When you come off the half-pipe after the cave (you land on the platform
with the GAMECUBE+STEAM #14), break the wood box and head down to where the
Air Shoes were. Roll through the wooden barrier and pick up the purple mushroom
for a random animal (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM).
16) After swinging around the huge tree on the vine, look to the left of the
U-shaped structure on the platform you land on. A pipe is sticking out of the
side.
17) Just ahead of #16, a parrot is circling on top of a tree stump to the right
of the road.
18) Grab the pull vine to the next platform, continue past the crusher block,
and you'll come to two wooden barriers. A skunk circles underneath the left
one.
19) Hit the spring right after #18, then head backward from where you land to
reach a mystic melody pedestal. There's a pipe on the wall to the left.
20) Grab the series of 2 pull vines ahead of #19, but DON'T grab the third one!
Go around past it and roll under two wooden barriers to the left. Stand on the
left side of the raised platform behind it and you'll get a whistle prompt. An
animal will fall from the tree above you.
[3.25] Sky Rail
Possible randoms: Bear, tiger, condor, ram
1) Don't jump at the end of the rail you start on. You'll land on a platform
with a ram.
2) Take the spring next to #1. You'll see a bear wandering around behind the
beams to your right.
3) Directly in front of #2 is a triple spring. Homing attack into it to get
extra height. On top of the steel beam in front of you, flying over the left
edge, is a condor.
4) Take the fan spring from #3 to the next platform. At the far end, next to
the step leading up, a ram hides inside the metal barrel.
5) Up the steps from #4 is a pipe in the far right corner of the platform.
6) A condor sits on the end of the steel beam sticking out of the platform with
the first checkpoint.
7) Take the rails after the first checkpoint until you jump to a smaller set of
rails. Get on the one on the right and ride it down slowly. Jump off before it
sends you into the spring to grab the pipe right next to it.
8) Take the spring after #7 and ride the next fan spring up to a platform with
a wooden crate and an extra life. Inside the crate is a pipe.
9) A tiger paces a few inches to the right of the second checkpoint.
10) This one's hard to reach. Spindash into the rail on the right to get some
speed, then jump to the pumpkin head platform on your left about a second
later. There's a nearby enemy to homing attack into if you need it. A condor
waits for you on top of the pumpkin.
11) Get back onto the rails from #10 and ride the one on the right. Build up as
much speed as you can, then jump off before you come to the end and aim for the
floating spring to the right. It will take you to a platform with 2 rails and a
tiger (if you land on the rails, switch into the wall on the left to prevent
them from carrying you past the animal).
12) Go backward from #11 to the platform below. There's a bear in the back.
13) Head up from #10 via the fan spring. A pipe is plainly visible on the
platform above.
14) A ram hides on the left side of the church behind the third checkpoint.
15) Take the rails after the third checkpoint to the next platform. A pipe is
in the back next to a 20 ring box by the fan spring.
16) Take the fan spring next to #15 up. On your right you'll see a platform
with a fire breathing skull and a bear.
17) On the platform above #16, a pipe sits behind a metal barrel in the near
left corner.
18) Up one step from the platform with #17, a tiger plays among a few robots.
19) At the back of the platform with the goal ring is a ram near 3 barricades.
20) Just before the goal ring, there's a steel beam with a spinning wheel to
the right. A condor sits precariously perched at the end of it.
[3.26] Mad Space
Possible randoms: Parrot, peacock, gorilla, raccoon
1) Inside the steel box right next to where you start is a raccoon.
2) Jump down to the area right below where you start. Hop over the railing
behind the spring and you'll land on a platform with a monitor and a pipe.
3) There's a pipe next to a light poles on one of the platforms around the
perimeter at the bottom of the level. If you fly outward from between the
yellow and blue lights next to where you start you'll be heading right for it.
It's clockwise from a pair of platforms with a missile and some boxes.
4) A peacock orbits the top of the building on the Spherical Planet.
5) On the Capsule Planet, a parrot is trapped inside a wooden box next to the
metal hive structure with a number 2 on the side. It's close to a spring toward
the middle of the planet.
6) On the Capsule Planet, a gorilla sits patiently on the ground next to the
center module of the metal hive structure with a number 3 on the side.
7) A peacock circuits the base of the building on the Holy Planet.
8) At the top of the level, there's a pipe behind a light pole on the platform
with the mystic melody pedestal.
9) At the top of the level, on the platform with red lights and a few steel and
unbreakable boxes, there's a pipe sticking out of the middle of the wall of the
ARK.
10) Jump straight out into space from the platform with #9. You'll come to a
floating pair of unbreakable boxes with a phoenix orbiting one of them.
[3.27] Cosmic Wall
Possible randoms: Rabbit, cheetah, otter, ram
1) On the platform you start on, a rabbit is sitting to the right of the
unbreakable boxes in front of you.
2) There's a pipe in the corner of the third platform.
3) When you come to the platform with the crusher, instead of going up walk to
the left. A cheetah waits at the end of the platform.
4) Immediately in front of the second checkpoint, go up and look right to find
a platform with a pyramid that has the Project Shadow logo in it. Destroy it
and you'll uncover a mystic melody pedestal. Use it and take the spring that
appears. Follow the path up to where the lost chao would be in Mission 3, then
hover around the bend to the left to another platform. A unicorn sits by the
edge.
5) An otter is plainly visible in the back left corner of the second platform
after the second checkpoint.
6) Shortly after #6 you'll start ascending a shaft. After hitting the third
spring, you'll land on a platform with a pipe.
7) After taking the hand lift just past #8, you'll come to a spring that takes
you to two platforms with pyramids covering them. A rabbit is underneath the
one on the left.
8) An otter sits on the platform at the top of the shaft you descend through,
in the near right corner.
9) At the bottom of the shaft with #8, there's a pipe in the far right corner
beneath the platform with the fourth checkpoint on it.
10) After getting off of the platform you ride through space, you'll find a
pipe in the near right corner of the area below, where the fifth checkpoint is.
11) At the top of the shaft you ascend after the fifth checkpoint, a ram
circles underneath the pyramid covering the highest platform.
12) At the back of the platform at the bottom of the next shaft you descend
through is a prancing cheetah.
13) Continue past the sixth checkpoint. Two platforms after the crusher that
you can stop with a switch, there's a pipe in the far corner, where the path
turns left.
14) Continue along the path until you come to a field of meteorites. At the
back left of the square platform among them, there's a ram sitting right next
to one of the rings on the platform.
15) After the seventh checkpoint, after you've descended down another shaft, a
rabbit is hopping in the back right corner, to the right of the third chao box.
[3.28] Final Chase
Possible randoms: Otter, penguin, tiger, skunk
1) Once you get off of the rail you start on, move to the back right of the
platform to find a small cube. Pick it up for a random. (MISSING IN
GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
2) Continue after the first checkpoint until you come to a tunnel. Instead of
going in, hop to the platform to the left. At the back of it, next to the first
chao box, is a cube with another random under it. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC]
AND STEAM)
3) Go through the tunnel after #2 and you'll come to a horizontal spinning
drum. Instead of jumping onto it, drop straight down to find a platform with a
skunk at the back.
4) At the back of the platform after the spinning drums above #3 is a tiger.
5) After #4 you'll come to a vertical spinning drum, then one more. At the back
of the platform after that second drum is a pipe in the middle of the road.
6) Proceed down the ramp in front of the second checkpoint. At the back of the
platform you land on is a pair of wooden crates. A skunk hides inside.
7) Continue to the horizontal drum after #6. On the back of the platform after
it, an otter sits in the middle of the road.
8) In the back left corner of the room right in front of the third checkpoint
is a penguin.
9) Head down the middle chute after the third checkpoint and it will take you
to a rail. There's a pipe at the back right corner of the platform right after
the rail.
10) A penguin is running around on top of the second spinning drum in the
series of drums right after #9.
11) A cheetah lies in the middle of the circle of rings on the platform between
the fourth and fifth drum (fifth and sixth in Hard Mode) in the same area as
#10.
12) Continue past the fourth checkpoint. At the end of the rail after it you'll
come to a ramp that goes sharply down. Don't grab the orange rail; land on the
platform below it and grab the otter in the back right corner instead.
13) Hit the spring after #12 and ride the orange rail down to the next
platform. At the back are two cubes; the one on the right has a random animal
under it. (MISSING IN GAMECUBE[NTSC] AND STEAM)
14) Ride the rail after #13 and let it drop you on a square platform. Jump off
the front of the platform to land on a rectangular one below. In the back left
corner of it is a skunk.
15) After the fifth checkpoint, you'll run up a wall and land on a platform.
This platform turns into a sharp ramp down. Above the ramp are horizontal
drums; use them to jump to the furthest ledge sticking out of the right wall
(or just spindash-jump from one ledge to another until you get there). A
phoenix awaits.
16) After the area with #15 is a platform that inclines slightly down. When it
ends, drop down to the next platform and turn around. You'll find a pipe to the
left of the third chao box.
17) Take the orange rail on the platform with #16. You'll land on a platform
with two wooden boxes. A skunk is underneath them.
18) Continue until you come to a pair of rails at the end of a platform. Take
the one on the right. It will end with a spring. Jump to the side before you
hit the spring and you'll see a penguin in the back right corner. ALTERNATE
METHOD: Take the left rail to the horizontal drum it throws you to. The
platform with the spring is below you. Aim a bit in front of the furthest
yellow sign below. Don't try to homing attack to the platform or you'll home in
on the spring. If you miss it, you can follow the path until you get to the
second drum that you'd come to if you took the left rail and jump backward
from there.
19) After grinding up the rail that takes you to another room with 3 chutes,
jump down to the bottom of the room. A tiger is playing on the left side.
20) After the sixth checkpoint, get to the end of the vertical drum section and
you'll land on a platform with a rocket and two steel boxes. There's an otter
under one of them.

Last Story

[3.29] Cannon's Core
This level behaves a little differently. The counter will stop at 10 and you'll
get an extra life for every animal after that while playing as Rouge or
Knuckles. When you switch to Sonic the counter will resume incrementing, so
while there are 20 animals in the stage your final count will only be 14.
Tails
Possible randoms: Gorilla, seal, bear, skunk
1) In front of the first time-stop switch, in the midst of a spinning spiked
ball trap, a gorilla walks in circles.
2) When you come to the outside section, fall straight down from the entrance.
You'll land on a platform with a pipe sticking out of the wall next to it.
3) In the room with two crusher blocks, you'll notice a seal between them
against the left wall.
4) In the far right corner of Tails's final room, there's a pipe on the wall
under a crusher.
Eggman
Possible randoms: Otter, bear, gorilla, raccoon
5) After riding a hand lift down a shaft, you'll enter a hallway with an
unbreakable box and a steel box on either side. There's a random animal in the
box on the right.
6) In the green liquid filled room full of moving cubes, you'll find an otter
sitting on top of the cube generator on the far left wall.
7) In the hallway after the room with #6, there's a pipe between the two cube
generators in front of the time-stop switch.
8) You'll find a phoenix fluttering in the back right corner of Eggman's
final room. Hover over to it from one of the rising cubes.
Rouge
Possible randoms: Condor, skunk, boar, cheetah
9) There's a boar pacing in a quick circle in the water a few feet clockwise
from the bottomless pit in the main room. On the DREAMCAST, it's really hard to
see because it blends in with the brown water. Either hit the time-stop switch
before getting it or jump as soon as you do so you don't get carried down the
pit. On both GAMECUBE versions and STEAM, IT'S LITERALLY INVISIBLE. Some kind
of glitch, I guess. The best way to get it in this case is to hit the time-stop
switch, then hop down and walk into the water diagonal from the piller the
switch is on. I often find it right against the waterline a little
counter-clockwise from this point, but I've also gotten it by being carried by
the current. Just splash around in that area and eventually you'll get it.
10) A pipe is sticking out of the second segment of the tallest pillar. Latch
onto the side of the pillar and climb down to the ledge below it on a corner
(not a side; you'll fall off) so you can whistle at it.
11) Whistle at the big round decoration on the wall behind the switch that
opens the capsule blocking the button in the main room. A random animal will
drop out.
12) A condor circles above the button that drains the water and ends Rouge's
section. You can't get it until the capsule blocking the button is open.
Knuckles
Possible randoms: Otter, seal, cheetah, raccoon
13) In what was Rouge's main room (now under water), on the pillar diagonal
from the one with the time-stop switch on it, a seal is walking the perimeter
of its highest ledge.
14) An otter walks in circles in front of the wall decoration where #11 was.
15) Behind the wall of lasers in the area where you start there are 4 steel
boxes embedded in the floor. A random animal will pop out of the top left one
(not there in Hard Mode).
16) In the second corridor where you need to stop time to get past the water
current, after the time-stop switch in the middle of the corridor is a stack
of two cages. A seal sits on top of them.
Sonic
Possible randoms: Cheetah, parrot, rabbit, skunk
17) When you land after the hand rail you start on, turn around. On the left
you'll see a stack of two steel boxes. A random animal is inside.
18) In the room with all the red cubes flying around in the background, a
parrot patrols above the time-stop switch after the short wall of lasers. Use
the bounce attack to reach it.
19) Right after #18 is a horizontal cube generator. A pipe sits next to the
receiving end on the right.
20) The final animal is a parrot, gracefully flapping around in front of the
entrance to the water slide that leads to the goal.
